Rainbow Six Siege: Skull Rain – Full Patch Notes & Official Launch Trailer

Rainbow Six Siege fans are in for another major update this Tuesday.

Developer Ubisoft is launching the third of four planned content add-ons for the game that promises to introduce new Operators, a new map, new weapon skins, and more. More importantly, with Operation Skull Rain, the team is aiming to breath new life into a now eight-month-old game with a number of quality-of-life improvements that will fortify Rainbow Six Siege’s foundations.

Full patch notes have been revealed over on the game’s official website, as has the update’s launch trailer, which you can catch above. Below are some highlights, as well as a link to the full list of updates for Rainbow Six Siege’s third season.

Operation Skull Rain

In Operation Skull Rain, two BOPE Operators join Team Rainbow to pacify the Favela, our new free map. This third major content update aims to improve the game experience by adding countermeasures for toxic behavior, a new weapon attachment, several game enhancements, customization content and lots more.

New Operators

With Operation Skull Rain, Team Rainbow recruits two of the BOPE’s finest: Caveira and Capitão.
The new Operators are immediately unlocked for Season Pass owners, with exclusive access granted for seven days. All players can then unlock the Operators with Renown or R6 Credits after the exclusive period ends.

New Map

Team Rainbow has been called to pacify and regain control of the Favela. Two BOPEs stationed in the area have been enlisted to provide their tactical expertise of the terrain to Team Rainbow. Mixing colorful and narrow streets with high vantage points, this map supports exterior shell destruction which renders it as the most destructible to date. The new Favela map is available for free for all players.

New Skins

Kick off the new Season with the four Skull Rain signature skins: Amazônia, Ceifador, Azulejos, the Piranha, and Skull Rain. These weapon skins are available in the shop exclusively for Operation Skull Rain. Visit the Shop section for more details.

New Improvements

To make sure the new content in upcoming seasons would be built on solid foundations, we decided to dedicate Season Three to improving the health of the game. As you may know, we supplemented the server-side FairFight anti-cheating engine with BattlEye, an active client-side system.

To improve overall gameplay experience, we also enhanced an array of features. We created a dynamic body part clipping solution, which serves to prevent revealing the limbs of your Operators through walls. For more enhancements, please refer to the General Tweaks & Improvements section below.

Read up on the lengthy list of changes to Rainbow Six Siege here.

Rainbow Six Siege: Skull Rain launches this Tuesday, August 2 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Next Rainbow Six Siege Update Will Introduce The Brazilian CTU, New Improvements Detailed

Rainbow Six Siege’s next big update will mark the coming of the game’s third season, which also means new content and more game improvements. Operation Skull Rain is “set in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,” says developer Ubisoft, which means fans will likely get their hands on new Operators from the Brazilian Counter-Terrorist Unit.

Aside from introducing a new location and a pair of new Operators, Ubisoft says the primary goal of Siege’s next update is the game’s health.

The health improvements include animation clipping, replay system, exploitable glitches, and anti-cheat. You read that right; we will soon be deploying the first integration of an additional anti-cheating system to our game: BattlEye.

According to the studio, BattlEye is a “client-side anti-cheating system that prevents players from loading the game when detecting cheats.” More details on the launch of the preliminary integration of BattlEye (Beta) are to come, says Ubisoft.

In the coming update, the studio has “also improved the Kill cam accuracy” by tweaking a few things to “make the replay camera as accurate as possible from the perspective of the player.” Last is a focus on dynamic clipping for skinned objects. Ubisoft says the improvement here “reduces greatly the amount of body parts leaking through walls and shield.”

Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Skull Rain launches on August 2. Fans can expect a full reveal on July 30 during the during the Xbox Pro League final.

Battleborn’s New DLC Hero Releases Next Week For Season Pass Holders, First Look At Third DLC Character

In the latest Battleplan, Gearbox Software finally gave the exact date when Battleborn fans can expect the sneaky assassin, Pendles, to makes it away to Solus. Starting July 28th, those who have purchased the Season Pass will get first dibs of the Rogue assassin. Everyone else can get their hands on the new DLC character one week after for 47,000 credits.

Aside from the three free PvP maps and re-worked cast members, Battleborn’s biggest patch yet also holds another surprise. As soon as it goes live, players will be able to purchase “Summer” themed skins for AmbraKleese, Marquis, Montana, Rath and Shayne & Aurox. Each of these skins require about  700 platnium currency in order to purchase, which is a bit more expensive than the first round of skins that were introduced.

Additionally, it seems that the first details for the third DLC character have also been released thanks to the recent update, which added new achievements to the game.  You can see the first image of “Ernest” below:

Smite – This Year’s Odyssey Event Won’t Have Tier 5 Assassin Skin, Double ‘Everything’ Weekend Ahead

The Odyssey event for Smite is without a doubt the biggest in-game event of the year for the game. From September until the Smite Championships in January, Hi-Rez will release weekly cosmetic items from new characters skins to new wards and more.

Those who happen to purchase every single item that’s release under the Odyssey event will be awarded with the rarest skins in the game, such as the Archon Thanatos and Ragnarok X Thor skin from the previous two Odyssey events.

However, this year is seeing a big change in terms of who gets the highly coveted Tier 5 skins. Not only is Hi-Rez going to allow the Smite community to vote for which character will get the skin, they will also exclude the Assassin class from being eligible from receiving it, seeing as the previous two characters also happened to be Assassins. Speaking of the community voting for the new Tier 5 skin, the first stage is now live which sees the Smite playerbase pick which class will receive the skin. Voting period  ends July 25th.

Additionally, with the Valkyrie Reloaded patch is now live on the PC and is soon to come sometime next week for consoles. Hi-Rez will be having another “double everything” event where the Smite community can earn double the favors, worshipers, and XP if you’re playing in a party of two or more. It’s is a perfect time to get either Fafnir or Freya to rank 10, as they’ve received new master skins with the latest patch.

Finally, it seems that Hi-Rez is making a small change to the Summer Of Smite content from releasing one item per week to two items during a patch week. This also means that, at least on the PC, both the Land Shark Sobek and Ace/Challenger Nu-Wa skins are available as of now.

Smite is a free to play third-person MOBA for the Mac, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Battleborn Gets Three New PvP Maps Later This Week

Two and a half months after initial launch, Battleborn PvP players have something more to look forward to later this week. Gearbox Software’s latest title is finally getting three free new PvP maps this Thursday.

You can check out a small glimpse of each below as well as some keys notes about them:

Incursion Map – Monuments

“Ekkunar, the last large green planet in the universe, has always been highly contested by those fleeing the darkened universe. All five factions have attempted settlements and bases on the planet, vying for territory and resources.

On the Monuments map, your team’s goal is to stop other factions from settling within one of the largest Aztanti settlement ruins on Ekkunar. It will be a brutal fight to gain territory and drive the other team away before they can gain a foothold among the mysterious and powerful secrets of abandoned Aztanti technology.”

Key notes:

  • There is a Skill Jump path over the middle of the map leads to your first sentry, and you’re going to want to defend this point aggressively. If left unguarded, agile enemy players can sneak in easily at this spot and get access to your sentry.
  • A high ledge overlooks the Minion lane entering your first sentry, and is a perfect place for a long-rage character to dominate. As a bonus, there’s a nearby Shard that can be farmed when your sniper isn’t raining pain down from this perch.
  • You’ll want to keep your Logistics nodes built and maintained to keep your Minion waves running at top speed.
  • Keep an eye out for a back route to sneak into your enemy’s Boss Sentry area.

Meltdown Map – Outskirts

“Despite a planet-wide Thrall rebellion, Minrec has established a new recycling/appeasement facility in the lower city slums of the Jennerit planet, Tempest. Your team must race against the enemy to hurl minions into the incinerators and cause a meltdown to appease Minrec.”

  • Key turrets in the backfield of the map become increasingly important during the second half of the match. Outskirts has very strong sightlines for these backfield buildables, so you’re going to want to keep them up and running.
  • You’ll want to build your Super Minions before the enemy grinders move. Getting Super Minions all the way to the back grinders will be difficult.
  • Make it a point to claim the second floor of the Mausoleum in the center of the Slums lane. It’s an easy point to defend, and gives you control over the lane if you own it.

Capture Map – Bliss

The Peacekeeper Ocoban Mining Facility has been freed from Varelsi and Imperium control on the icy moon Bliss, thanks to the Battleborn! Now, race other teams to help rebuild the base by activating the energy collectors to re-power the facility. Look out, though! Winning reconstruction contracts can be a competitive and brutal affair!

Key Notes:

  • On Snowblind, Point C is the most remote capture point but also the most important. It offers some of the strongest defense and longest sightlines into the rest of the map.
  • For long-range characters, hanging out at Point C will give you a clear view of nearly half the map.
  • If the enemy team owns Point C, use the bridge in the center map to pick them off with some long-range and careful shooting.

With the inclusion of new PvP maps, this also means that a new patch for Battleborn is set to hit very soon. If so, you can expect multiple QoL changes such as easier lore challenges for the majority of the cast and multiple buffs for them as well. You can read about them here.

Battleborn is available for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
