Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 “Descent” DLC Arrives On PlayStation 4 Mid-July

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s third multiplayer map pack arrives on July 12, developer Treyarch announced today.

Descent, as it’s called, will hit PlayStation 4 owners first before making its way to Xbox One and PC owners one month later. It’ll deliver four new multiplayer maps — Empire, Cryogen, Rumble, and Berserk — and, of course, a brand new Zombies chapter called Gorod Krovi.

CmDlhy_WYAAaWXe

As fans suspected, the new Empire map is, in fact, a remake of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 map, Raid, updated for current-gen visuals and Black Ops 3’s new movement system. Here’s what we know so far about the new locations:

Empire

Treyarch adapts its Black Ops III movement system to the Call of Duty®: Black Ops II fan favorite map Raid. The re-imagining of this classic, medium-sized map features an authentic Roman villa that has been “recreated by a modern-day eccentric billionaire,” where a classic map structure mixes with the new gameplay mechanics of Black Ops III.

Cryogen

Located far off the coast in the Dead Sea, an isolated compound holds some of the world’s most dangerous criminals in frozen isolation. Sentry towers keep watch over the small map’s circular design as frenetic combat is funneled around the prison’s cryogenic tubes, where opportunities for wall running attacks abound.

Berserk

Ancient sentinels from a lost civilization guard the entrance to Berserk, a Viking village frozen in time. Players will fight through blizzards, and control the center bridge as they navigate this medium-sized map’s wooden buildings, deadly rocky outcroppings, and tight chokepoints.

Rumble

Gamers battle amongst larger-than-life mechanized warriors in Rumble, a stadium where giant robots battle to the roar of the crowd. This medium-sized map funnels high-speed combat to the central arena, where players battle their way through fallen mechs and pyrotechnics.

Gorod Krovi

Descent also thrusts players to an alternate universe of Nikolai’s motherland, the 1940s Soviet Union, in the next highly-anticipated chapter of the Origins Zombies saga, Gorod Krovi. Players face-off against a swarm of mechanized zombie infantry and dodge hell-fire from aerial dragon assaults, all in the middle of a raging battle within the remnants of Stalingrad. Gorod Krovi delivers the most exciting Zombies experience yet, filled with horrifying new enemies, exciting new gameplay mechanics and an epic set of Zombie annihilating weapons.

Here’s the official trailer for the new zombies map, Gorod Krovi:

DLC 3 will be included in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s Season Pass and sold separately for $14.99 USD.

Halo 5’s Biggest Update Yet Gets A Release Date, Free Trial Starts Next Week

Halo 5: Guardians’ biggest content update yet drops next Wednesday, July 29, developer 343 Industries announced today.

The launch of the Warzone Firefight update marks an exciting week for fans of Xbox One’s flagship shooter, as well as for those that have yet to join the party. The update itself, which is once again free for all Halo 5 players, introduces a brand new Warzone mode, new campaign features, new maps, and more. Following its release, Halo 5 will be free to download and play for all Xbox Live Gold members for one week, until June 5, during which time the the game’s asking price will also drop by 50%.

We considered Halo 5: Guardians’ multiplayer one of the best that the series has ever had to offer, so we definitely recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet.

Here are the specifics on the new Warzone Firefight update, according to Xbox.com.

New Game Mode – Warzone Firefight: Warzone Firefight is, by far, the biggest content release since the launch of Halo 5: Guardians! As a result of the beta in April, 343 Industries has taken player feedback to improve the game mode for launch, such as increasing the difficulty each round and adding brand new bosses and vehicles – including the hilarious (and deadly) Grunt Goblin boss and the powerful UNSC VTOL, AV-49 Wasp, deployable as a REQ vehicle in all Warzone modes and available to use in Forge.

New Campaign Feature – Score Attack: As detailed on Halo Waypoint, the Warzone Firefight content release will include a new way to play Halo 5: Guardians’ campaign – Score Attack! Campaign scoring makes a return to Halo 5: Guardians, enabling players to compete against their friends for points and medals in online co-op play or solo. Remember – in Score Attack, the points do matter so be sure to defeat enemies with style and flourish!

New Maps – Attack on Sanctum, Prospect and Molten: The free Warzone Firefight release brings three new maps across multiple game modes: Attack on Sanctum, Prospect and Molten. In the Attack on Sanctum map for Warzone, revisit the Covenant homeworld of Sanghelios, or take it to the rocky roads of Prospect for Warzone Assault. For Arena players, Molten will be a hot new Arena map – be sure not to fall into the stream of lava!

New Forge Canvas – Tidal: Since the release of a new super-charged Forge mode for Halo 5: Guardians in December, Forgers have been hard at work creating some of the most unique, creative and innovative maps ever seen in Halo. The Warzone Firefight release brings a fan-requested canvas, the ocean-themed Tidal. No longer will players have to struggle to find water to Forge on – it’s literally everywhere on Tidal!

New REQs Items: Warzone Firefight adds several new REQ items, including the Cinder and Cyclops armor sets, Covenant vehicle and weapon variants, HCS Pro League weapon skins and additional customization sets.

Get a load of the new REQs below:

Halo-5-Guardians-Warzone-Firefight-REQ-Sheet-e1466698284624

Head to Twitch.tv/Halo on June 28 at 2PM PST / 5PM EST to get a live stream preview of the new update.

It’s no secret that Gearbox Software was going to eventually add some sort of micro-transactions to their hero-shooter, Battleborn, at some point after launch. It was just a matter of when.

According to Gearbox themselves, the new micro-DLC set to go live June 16 and will feature a number of different payment options to purchase the soon to be introduced “Platinum” currency. You can see all of the different payment options below:

  • $1.99 USD for 230 Platinum
  • $4.99 USD for 700 Platinum
  • $9.99 USD for 1625 Platinum
