Unreal Tournament’s Future To Be Revealed On May 8

After what seems like ages since we last heard any news about a new Unreal Tournament game, it appears that fans of the arena shooter won’t have to wait much longer.

Epic’s Paul Meegan recently tweeted out some very interesting news regarding Unreal Tournament and its future, mentioning an incoming live stream event this Thursday.

Though it might seem off that Epic is showcasing a new Unreal Tournament on their Unreal Engine channel instead of their Epic Games channel, vice president and co-founder Mark Rein has stated that Unreal Tournament is indeed making a comeback.

No other information was provided, aside from Epic showcasing Unreal Tournament on Unreal Engine 4 this Thursday.

Keep your sights on MP1st for more Unreal Tournament updates.

Battlefield 4 – DICE Suggests Sub 50 Player Limit For Rented Servers On PS4 and Xbox One

With the long requested rent-a-server feature now live for Battlefield 4 across all platforms, it seems that the implementation of the feature isn’t going as smoothly as developer DICE had hoped it would.

DICE has issued an update on an occurring issue being investigated in Battlefield 4 where any rented server on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms fails to start due to its 64 player count.

While they are investigating what’s causing the servers to fail when they are set for 64 players, DICE has suggested the following as a workaround for the issue:

“While we investigate, we recommend that server administrators who are experiencing this issue set their servers to 50 players or less. We would like to thank those early adopters of the Rent-a-Server Program for Battlefield 4 for their patience during the last few days as we worked on solving the ongoing issues.”

In addition, those who are currently renting servers for Battlefield 4 on the aforementioned platforms can expect DICE to add a few more days towards your server lease, which will be free of charge for all of your troubles.

Stay tuned to MP1st for more updates regarding Battlefield 4.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – New Screens Released, Set in 2054, SH Games ‘most ambitious & creative project,’ and More

Publisher Activision has released a press release about its upcoming Call of Duty title, Advanced Warfare. The title is developed by Sledgehammer Games slated to release on November 4th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

“We’ve made several key decisions with an eye towards creative excellence on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. We’ve really approached this game differently. This is our first three-year development cycle. It’s our first time with Sledgehammer Games at the creative helm. And we’re shaking up the formula in several ways,” stated Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshburg.

He continued, “New core gameplay mechanics with the exoskeleton suit. A riveting new story. An iconic new character played by one of the world’s best actors in Kevin Spacey. We’re having a lot of fun making this game, and we think the world is going to have even more fun playing it.”

You can released the rest of the press release below.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare jolts players forward in a groundbreaking experience that’s ripped-from-the-headlines-of-tomorrow, envisioning a future where both technology and tactics have evolved to usher in a new era of combat for the franchise. Set in the year 2054, a private military corporation (PMC) has emerged with the power to rescue humanity from a devastated world struggling to rebuild after a global attack on its military and infrastructure. You are the advanced soldier. Empowered with new, cutting-edge exoskeleton abilities, technological advancements and high-tech gear, players join the ranks of a highly-trained, specialized unit committed to restoring order in a state of advanced warfare.

“It’s been a lot of fun working with the team to bring Jonathan Irons to life. The technology is truly remarkable and unlike anything I’ve done before. I’m excited to see where this goes,” said Kevin Spacey.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is being developed specifically for next gen consoles and PC. This is the first iteration of publisher Activision’s expanded three-year development cycle allowing the debut lead title from Sledgehammer Games an added year of studio development. With the expanded production capabilities, Sledgehammer Games is able to create an astonishing new, next generation experience, featuring an array of technical advancements from the sights and sounds that create a near photorealistic world unlike any Call of Duty before, to new performance capture and facial animation technologies that deliver lifelike characters, to a rich and immersive story that brings the fiction to life.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and an honor for Sledgehammer Games. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the most ambitious and creative project we have ever worked on. From the endless research and thousands of production designs, to our incredible focus on the narrative and amazing attention to – we’re taking nothing for granted,” said Glen Schofield, co-founder and game director of Sledgehammer Games. “Call of Duty connects with the fans on such a deep level, and crafting a new vision for the next generation has been so inspiring for us.”

Michael Condrey, co-founder and studio head of Sledgehammer Games added, “Glen and I created this team with the singular vision of delivering the best work of our lives. We know we’re stepping into some pretty big shoes, but every day I’m amazed at the talent and focus at work here touching everything from the story experience to multiplayer. We’re excited to lead the next chapter in this great franchise, and we can’t wait for November 4th.”

Update: Added a few more screens from the official site and the following blurbs about the game:

Call Of Duty : Advanced Warfare

Developed by Sledgehammer Games (co-developers of Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3), harnesses the first three-year, all next-gen development cycle in franchise history. Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare envisions the powerful battlegrounds of the future, where both technology and tactic have evolved to usher in a new era of combat for the franchise. Delivering a stunning performance, Academy Award® winning actor Kevin Spacey stars as Jonathan Irons – one of the most powerful men in the world – shaping this chilling vision of the future of war.

An Advanced World

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare takes place in a plausible future in which technological progress and today’s military practices have converged with powerful consequences. In this carefully researched and crafted vision of the future, Private Military Corporations (PMCs) have become the dominant armed forces for countless nations outsourcing their military needs, redrawing borders and rewriting the rules of war. And Jonathan Irons, the founder and president of the world’s largest PMC – Atlas Corporation – is at the center of it all.

An Advanced Soldier

Powerful exoskeletons evolve every aspect of a soldier’s battle readiness, enabling combatants to deploy with an advanced lethality and eliminating the need for specialization. The introduction of this gameplay mechanic delivers enhanced player movement and verticality through boost jumps and grappling, covert cloaking abilities, and biomechanics that provide unparalleled strength, awareness, endurance, and speed. With the advent of the exoskeleton and newly advanced armor and weaponry, every soldier commands tactical freedom in any terrain unlike ever before, fundamentally changing the way gamers play Call of Duty across all modes.

Advanced Arsenal

Harnessing the power of next-gen platforms, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare brings players into the battlegrounds of the future by boasting a new hi-tech, advanced arsenal and ability set, arming players with all-new equipment, technology, perks, and vehicles like hoverbikes and highly specialized drones. Players can also choose between standard ammunition and an all-new class of directed-energy weaponry that enables totally new gameplay dynamics. And with exoskeletons delivering a massive force multiplier and unprecedented tactical freedom, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare evolves every firefight.

New Audio Mix Settings Coming To Xbox One Along With Opt-In Setting To Improve Voice Recognition [Updated]

Update

The Xbox One update is now public and should be available the next time you turn your console on.

Original Story

Over on Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hyrb’s blog, the latest features for the next Xbox One update have been detailed.

As requested by many, the ability to control audio levels on snapped apps has come, letting users control whether the game your playing is louder, or the app you’ve snapped. Along with this comes the option to control the volume levels when you use the Kinect microphone to chat.

The Kinect, which undoubtedly makes the option to use Voice Commands über cool, is also getting an upgrade as Microsoft inputs new voice commands, which in-turn needs help from those willing. With the newest update, you can now Opt-In to help improve this feature by going to settings > privacy & online safety > customizing privacy and online safety > set Share Voice Data to Allow.

You can download the May update as part of the preview update program starting this week.

War Thunder North America PS4 Release Now Possible, News Hopefully Next Week

After being delayed for months, PlayStation 4 gamers in North America may finally be able to get their hands on War Thunder.

In a recent Reddit posting concerning squad functionality, multiple employees from Gaijin studio took the time to answer some questions – the most important one being when we would hear news about the game’s release in North America.

The game launched a few months back in Europe, but due to a patching issue that the team has been working with Sony to fix, the game had to be delayed with no clear sign of a release. According to the employees though, this issue has been resolved with the recent PS4 firmware and news of War Thunder’s NA release will be coming as early as next week.

“With recent release of 1.7 Software update, it finally can happen. We are working hard to make NA release this month, I hope there will be more news next week,” The CEO stated.

“We are working on it. I think there will be update about it quite soon even. News as close as the next week!”

There we have it. PS4 owners living in North America will finally be able to get their hands on the title soon. Though this goes without saying that creating a European account would have solved this. We are sure with news of it coming next week, we will hear about new functions being implemented such as cross-platform between the PS4 and PC.

See All The Guns From Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s First Trailer

There was a lot to catch in yesterday’s first ever trailer for Sledgehammer Game’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

There were exo-suits, thruster packs, cloaking devices, hover bikes, and a whole bunch of other advanced, high-tech, future things. There was even Kevin Spacey. But what about the guns?

As a Call of Duty fan, that’s probably one of the top questions on your mind. ‘What kind of weapons will we get to use in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare?’ Wanting figure out just that, Imgur user BiGGBoBBy444 screen capped every weapon he could manage and put it all together in one album.

Clearly, a lot of it is like nothing we’ve ever seen in a Call of Duty title before, even in the near-future setting of Black Ops 2. You’ll spot a number of high-tech gadgets and advanced weaponry including some pretty crazy holographic sights and other attachments. Check them out in the album below and let us know in the comments what catches your eye.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is coming to current-gen, next-gen, and PC on November 4.

Is “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” The Next Call of Duty Title?

Our first look at Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty 2014 is out in the wild, but still we know nothing of the upcoming shooter’s official title.

While we can’t find anything concrete, Call of Duty YouTube personality LiamFTWinter has pointed out a few likely candidates through some interesting finds.

The speculation revolves primarily around the letters “AW”, which Call of Duty YouTube personality Drift0r insisted earlier bears some sort of significance.

Of note is this recently surfaced Call of Duty logo displaying the world reveal date, as well as San Francisco’s Golden Gate bridge in the background, which Drift0r also made mention of in his video.

Call of Duty

According to one of Winter’s followers, the Google + file name for the image in question is, “COD_AW_Google_Header”. Clearly, “COD” is an acronym for “Call of Duty”, but what about “AW”?

It was previously rumored that Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty would be another entry in the Modern Warfare series – another point in Drift0r’s video – but that it might not exactly bare the title of “Modern Warfare 4”. That aside, “AW” seemingly rules out another “MW” game entirely. But what about something a little more ‘advanced’?

As Winter points out, Call of Duty publisher Activision holds rights to the trademark “Advanced Warfare”, which they picked up in May of 2010. A mini documentary that recently popped up called “Superpower for Hire”, presented by Call of Duty and Vice, clearly points towards a futuristic for Sledgehammer’s shooter, with Private Military Corporations being major plot or setting point.

With that in mind, “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” doesn’t seem all that far off from a likely title. From a marketing perspective, “Advanced Warfare” also bears enough resemblance to Call of Duty’s most popular sub-series, Modern Warfare, and might carry enough resemblance and familiarity to pique the interest of die-hard fans.

We’ll find out for sure this Sunday, but what do you guys think?

New Call of Duty 2014 Video – Superpower for Hire

Vice and Call of Duty present “Superpower for Hire”, a short look into the world of Private Military Corporations.

“In the next Call of Duty, the world’s most powerful military is not a country. It’s a corporation. Could this actually happen?” is the premise of the mini documentary. It goes on to detail the history of PMCs like Blackwater and considers the implications for the future of modern warfare.

Clearly, Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games are dropping hints that shine a little more light on Call of Duty 2014’s futuristic setting, which was unveiled earlier today. Check out one of the first new images right here. Both the  video and image confirm at least two things: a futuristic Call of Duty title, and the involvement of Private Military Corporations.

What are your predictions?

A New Era of Call of Duty Begins May 4, New Teaser Site Launches

A new Call of Duty era begins on May 4, according to developer of 2014’s Call of Duty title, Sledgehammer games.

The Tweet came out earlier this morning in conjunction with the launch of a brand new teaser site, callofduty.com/new-era.

The website shows nothing more than a count-down timer and a static image likely to be unveiled in three days.

Screen Shot 2014-05-01 at 8.46.42 AM

While it’s hard to make out exactly what’s going on, we do see the Golden Gate bridge in the background of the new Call of Duty logo (featured above), perhaps signifying a San Francisco, Califorina, or West Coast setting.

Also, hidden links within the new teaser site lead to articles mentioning “Private Military Contractors”. There’s one on NYTimes, BusinessInsider, and Wikipedia. Clearly, Sledgehammer is teasing something to do with the private military industry.

Lastly, a new image from GameInformer confirms a futuristic setting for Call of Duty 2014. The soldier, who bears resemblance to the one featured in the very first teased image, is clearly wearing armor – in this case, an exo-suit – and other tech way ahead of our time. The image also portrays noticeably improved visuals.
