Ubisoft Monetization Director “Ashamed” and “Sad” at Gamers and Devs Wishing Company to Fail

In case you didn’t know, video game company Ubisoft is facing tough challenges as of late, what with failing stock prices, and weaker than expected sales of some of their AAA releases.

While it’s never good news when a company is failing and in danger of closing shop, it seems some gamers — and even devs — aren’t losing sleep about it. This sentiment hasn’t escaped the eyes of Ubisoft’s Monetization Director Stevy Chassard, who vented his frustrations in a now-deleted post on LinkedIn.

I rarely post on social media, but today I am sad. Ashamed and sad.

The gaming industry is rough at the moment, we all know it. But seeing how “gamers” react on social medias, wishing ill- fate to companies and people alike is sad. (And not only towards Ubisoft)
Even though it is always the vocal minority that express themselves on social media, I was hurt, hurt and ashamed to be a part of this community.

What is even more revolting, is coming on LinkedIn and seeing the same comments from people within the industry. On top of exposing yourself as a clearly non-decent human being, you are affecting thousands of employees that are already impacted by all the hate despite doing their best to deliver incredible experiences.

How can you wish a company to fail simply because they do not cater to you or that the product does not please you is beyond me.

We are all on the same boat, please please please, stop spreading hate, we should all uplift each other instead of bringing each other down.

Here’s a screenshot of the statement before it was deleted:

Not sure why Chassard deleted his post, but it does make a lot of sense. I mean, with the industry facing studio shutdowns, mass layoffs left and right, it’s never good to be happy about that — yes, even if you’re not a fan of the studio or company’s products. What’s surprising here is seeing that fellow game developers are seemingly partaking in the “happiness” as well. While we can’t or don’t want to name these devs that Chassard is pointing out, it doesn’t paint a good picture of the person for doing that, even if Ubisoft is considered competition.

While nothing has been confirmed so far for Ubisoft, a recent report that surfaced states that the Guillemot family (which owns the majority stake of Ubisoft) is talking to Chinese mega-corporation Tencent to buy the company out. We’ll have more about that if anything develops.

Delta Force Q&A – Console Versions, Cheaters and More Discussed

In case you didn’t know, there’s a new military shooter set to invade consoles and PC, and it’s not from EA, Activision or anyone familiar, but it’s from Chinese studio Team Jade, which is under the TiMi Studio Group. The game is none other than Delta Force (the studio decided to drop “Hawk Ops” from the title a few months ago).

MP1st had the chance to talk to studio regarding the in-development game, whether it’s still planned for last-gen consoles and more! At the time of this interview, the closed alpha just concluded (read our impressions of it here), and the console versions were still MIA (missing in action). Answering the questions are Design Director Ricky Liao along with Publishing Director Jesseca Zhang.

Delta Force Q&A With Team Jade:

MP1st: Delta Force hasn’t been seen in a long time, and definitely not this way. What made TiMi shoot for a AAA experience with this one, and even included consoles? This is the franchise’s most ambitious entry to date, and we were wondering what prompted the studio to do this now?

Jesseca: This is a great question! First off, let me clarify that Delta Force is developed by Team Jade, and published by TiMi Studio Group. The Delta Force franchise is a childhood favorite for many Chinese gamers, as it could be found in almost every internet cafe in China back in the 90s. As a result, many of our team members have fond memories of playing Delta Force games in their youth. Shortly after shipping Call of Duty: Mobile, we saw an opportunity to develop a new entry in the Delta Force series, and it was a no-brainer for us to make it our next game.

MP1st: While we know console (and mobile) news are coming soon, how come we haven’t seen footage of it yet?

Jesseca: Our team is hard at work on the console and mobile versions, and we will share more information when the time is right.

MP1st: Will the full game be playable on last-gen (PS4, Xbox One) consoles and mobiles? How will crossplay for that work with current-gen and PC?

Jesseca: Last-gen consoles will be supported, but as it takes extra time to optimize the game for these systems, we don’t expect Delta Force to land on last-gen at the same time as versions for current-gen consoles. It is our commitment to bring an uncompromised Delta Force experience to all players regardless of platform, so the full multi-player game will be playable on all systems. The campaign mode, however, will be available only for PC and consoles. As for crossplay support, players can expect something similar to how this works with other popular titles.

MP1st: With F2P games rampantly attacked by cheaters, what’s the studio’s plan of attack for it? Has the team considered IP bans for it?

Jesseca: Our top priority here is to create a fair game for all players, and we have committed significant resources to achieving this goal. During the alpha test, the team issued a total of 3,665 ten-year bans and intercepted 11,584 cheating attempts. We also identified and blocked 343 cheat tools. This is a long and uphill battle, but we are determined to keep fighting. We are not considering IP bans at this moment since some players share IP addresses. For repeat offenders, we do have more severe measures in place, including hardware bans.

Delta Force Hawk Ops pay to win

MP1st: Continuing with that, will XIM/Cronus users be targeted as well when it comes to cheaters?

Ricky: As controller support is not yet live in the game, we haven’t encountered such issues. However, we do plan to address such devices with a future update of the game’s anti-cheat system.

MP1st: Will new characters be tucked away in the Battle Pass? If so, how much estimated playtime is needed to unlock them and new weapons if you’re on the free tier?

Jesseca: One of our key philosophies for Delta Force is to ensure that no gameplay content will be locked behind a paywall. Some Operators will be unlocked through the Battle Pass, but they won’t require excessive grinds to unlock.

MP1st: With the success of Stellar Blade, Lies of P, Marvel Rivals, and of course, Black Myth Wukong, and the like,it seems that more and more Asian studios (outside of Japan) are seeing success and are coming out of the shadows. Why do you think that’s happening now? Is it easier and/or cheaper to make console games now than before? What does TiMi think of this shift from transitioning from mobiles to AAA console/PC offerings?

Jesseca: We are really happy to see this new trend. All of these games are great, and we are humbled to be mentioned alongside them. We believe that a healthy industry should encourage exploration and diversity. With growing competition and more talent entering the industry, it’s only natural that different types of games for various platforms will be made. Players today have higher expectations than ever before, which means developing games is more complex, not easier or cheaper. However, the industry has matured, and we now have better collaboration with partners like Microsoft and Epic Games, who have provided invaluable support for our team. In this regard, Team Jade is still learning, and we welcome this shift in the industry and are eager to continue learning from it.

MP1st: What are the chances of seeing more chapters for the single-player campaign? Speaking of which, we haven’t seen that in a while…

Ricky: Right now we’re focused on creating an exciting and satisfying single-player experience with our Black Hawk Down campaign. We don’t have plans for future single-player chapters beyond that at this time.

MP1st: Are there plans to include smaller, infantry-only maps in the game?

Ricky: Yes! The team is also exploring other combat experiences such as trench warfare.

MP1st: What’s the studio’s stance on Team Deathmatch? Will that work with the game’s characters?

Ricky: We really like TDM and believe it can be a great fit for our game. That being said, our current focus is on the existing three game modes: Havoc Warfare, Hazard Operations, and Black Hawk Down. TDM might come with a future update.

MP1st: The game is sort of split into two genres of modes. On one, you have the large-scale battles with more traditional teams battling for control like in many shooters. The other is extraction. Two different things, and one would say catering to two different markets. What was the reasoning behind deciding to do them both at once, rather than say spin one off as its own separate game or experience? Is the team worried that one part may become more popular than the other, possibly moving the focus away from one aspect?

Ricky: The Delta Force franchise is known for its unparalleled sense of immersion, transporting players to gritty and realistic battlefields. Havoc Warfare is our way of honoring the franchise’s tradition, while Hazard Operations expands on that legacy by challenging players with unique missions where the odds are stacked against them. No one can predict the future, but we are enjoying the process and will continue to maintain close communication with our players to ensure Delta Force remains a long-lasting experience.

MP1st: In terms of cosmetics, will TiMi focus on more “grounded” and realistic skins or will it be more like recent Call of Duty skins where anything goes?

Ricky: We want to focus on more grounded aesthetics that fit the Delta Force tone and style.

MP1st: Going hand in hand with cosmetics, are there plans to do crossovers with other games in terms of cosmetics or events?

Ricky: This is something that we’re currently exploring, however any such crossover would need to respect the visual design and overall identity of Delta Force.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops Alpha Hands-On

MP1st: I know the studio might be tired of hearing about this, but can we expect an open beta before the year is over for consoles?

Jesseca: We know that the community has been eagerly waiting for the console version and controller support, and we’ve been working very hard on this. We promise that more information will be shared when the time is right.

MP1st: The similarities between the UI and graphic style to Battlefield 2042 are glaringly evident. Is this something TiMi set out to do to capture the Battlefield audience?

Ricky: We have been making Delta Force for four years, and the game has seen many iterations with tweaks to its visual design and UI. Ultimately, we decided on a “near future” art style to offer players a fresh spin on the Delta Force experience, while providing excellent readability and immersion through the UI. Rather than targeting a specific player base, we aim to meet the expectations of both new and long-time Delta Force fans.

MP1st: For consoles, what performance is the studio aiming for?

Jesseca: It’s a bit early to talk about this, but players can expect Delta Force to perform similarly to other mainstream shooters on consoles.

Delta Force is set to launch on PC via Early Access in Q4 2024, while the console versions’ release window has not been revealed at the time of this article’s publication.

God of War Ragnarok Update for October 4 on PC Delivers Patch 5 Fixes

Jetpack Interactive has released the God of War Ragnarok update for October 4, and this is for what the studio calls Patch 5. As expected, this doesn’t bring in any new content, but was rolled out purely for fixes.

God of War Ragnarok Update for October 4 Patch Notes:

  • Prevent crash on game boot due to corrupt or missing files – game will now tell you that there are bad files and ask you to verify installation
  • Volumetric fog in Realm Between Realms and during dream sequences will now appear properly on NVIDIA 10xx, 20xx, and 30xx cards
  • DualSense controllers will now default to rumble backup when connected wirelessly as haptics are only available with wired connections
  • Achievements will now retroactively unlock when loading save games

Please note: If you reload your save and your missing Achievements do not pop, this is likely due to something causing the Steam API to fail via a temporary block such as a firewall, internet disabled, etc. Please double-check possible blockers if this issue persists after reloading.

Don’t expect any new content for the game, as if there is some planned, the PS4/PS5 versions will surely get it first or an announcement will be made by Sony Santa Monica about it.

While an excellent game (read our review here), God of War Ragnarok on PC seems to have a smaller impact than its predecessor’s release on PC, and chances are, the mandatory PlayStation Network account requirement is one of the reasons why.

Battlefield 2042 Next Update 8.1.1 Drops on Oct. 8 and Here Are the Patch Notes

DICE has a new patch for Battlefield 2042 brewing, and it’s set to be unleashed this coming Tuesday, October 8! The upcoming Battlefield 2042 patch is tagged as version 8.1.1, and this houses various fixes which we’ve outlined below.

Battlefield 2042 Next Update 8.1.1 Patch Notes:

  • Fixed an issue where some boxes would remain floating in the air on Noshahr Canals after their support was destroyed.
  • Fixed an issue with some unnatural terrain deformation on Orbital.
  • Fixed an issue where vehicles could sometimes spawn underneath the map in the first sector of Breakthrough Chaos on Manifest.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the MI-240 Super Hind to float at the end of round screen.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the UH-60 to use an incorrect icon, it will now use the correct transport helicopter icon.
  • Fixed an issue preventing the UH-60 to be able to prompt countermeasures while getting hacked.
  • Fixed an issue that caused weapon statistics to have incorrect values in the prologue mission of the game.
  • Fixed an issue where claymore name tags would flicker at certain distances.
  • Fixed an issue where players could call in Angel’s supply crate in some locations on Redacted.
  • Fixed an issue where a destroyed MCOM would sometimes appear as not destroyed in the UI if you joined a server after the destruction.
  • Fixed an issue where some Weapon skins could display “Buy Set” instead of “Buy”.

Given Season 7 is the last content drop for the game, we are still expecting events to be rolled out from time to time. That said, we are inching closer and closer to the next Battlefield game, so don’t be shocked if support for BF2042 stops completely soon.

PSN Store Weekend Offer Sale for Oct. 4 Launched; Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Is the Deal of the Week

Sony has kicked off a new PlayStation Store sale this October 4 just in time for the weekend! The new PSN Store Weekend Offer sale is now live, we’ve also listed down the Deal of the Week, which is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2!

PN Store Weekend Offer Sale for October 4 – Ends 10/7

Deal of the Week – Save 32%

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Digital Deluxe Edition (from $79.99 to 54.39) – Read our review here

Recommendations:

  • GTA 5 – (67%, $19.79) – For maybe the 2-3 people that still doesn’t own this, now’s your chance, as it doesn’t get lower than this. Perhaps if GTA 6 is nearing launch maybe it will? But do you want to wait that long?
  • WWE 2K24 (-50%, $59.99) – This game is free on PS Plus for October. If you aren’t a member of PS Plus, then yeah, this is a solid wrestling game which has DLCs on the way.
  • Hogwarts Legacy Digital Deluxe (-70%, $23.99) – Fun game regardless if you’re a Harry Potter fan or not. No co-op or multiplayer of any kind but it lets you live the dream of becoming a mass murdering machine like Voldemort.
  • The Crew Motorfest (-60%, $27.99) – Still getting support to this day. If you want a more arcade-y racing game.
  • AC Mirage (-50%, $24.99) – Last year’s Assassin’s Creed game. Might not have made as big of a thud than Valhalla, but sitting at a generally favorable score at Metacritic.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 (-70%, $29.99) – Some might not believe or like it, but this is even better than GTA 5. Fantastic story, engrossing side missions and loads of secrets. You can kill of racist mobs, get anal raped, encounter a vampire and more!
  • Madden 25 (-35%, $64.99) – Your yearly NFL sim. Can’t say if it’s good or not since I’m not a football fan but if you’re thinking of getting this one, then here you go.
  • Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League (-80%, $19.99) – Season 3 just launched, but can’t really say if this is worth it, since chances are, this will be on PS+ soon?!
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (-55%, $40.49) – Follow up to the Fallen Order, and better in almost every way. Cal doesn’t run around like he has poop in his pants, backtracking issue has been more or less resolved. There’s a third one on the way, so if you played the first one, then go pick this one up.
  • Borderlands 3 Next Level Bundle (-90%, $6.99) – Includes a crapload of DLC and whatnot. Loads of Borderlands stuff are on sale, which fans might wnat to check out. This is well worth the purchase for those looking for some co-op loot action, and there’s a free PS5 upgrade available as well.
  • A Way Out (-80%, $5.99) – Usually on sale alongside It Takes Two, so no rush in getting it. Remember: this is a mandatory co-op game, so if you don’t have anyone to play this with, don’t bother.
  • Avatar Frontiers of Pandora (-50%, $39.99) – Ubisoft open word in Avatar! All kidding aside, better than expected. The Gold Edition which includes the DLCs are also on sale.
  • Hi-Fi Rush Deluxe (-40%, $23.99) – Tango’s last game for Microsoft. GOTY contender and generally a different beast than what we usually get. Worth a pick up, but YouTube it first since the aesthetics, etc. might not be a fit for what you’re looking for.
  • Midnight Suns (-75%, $19.99) – Strategy Marvel game. Fun, good length and challenging. Not MCU but proves Marvel franchise can work in almost any genre as long as done right.
  • LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga Deluxe Edition (-75%, $17.49) – Lighthearted Star Wars game you can play with friends or your kids. Familiar LEGO gameplay so expect loads of humor.
  • Mafia 3 Definitive Edition (–75%, $7.49) – Period GTA but with a better story. There’s a new one out next year, so if you want to get on-board this might be the time. Mafia 2 is also on sale for the same price.
  • AC Valhalla (-60%, $15.99) – Viking Creed! Good action game, but be prepared to sink a lot of time into this.
  • Red Dead Redemption + RDR2 Bundle (-45%, $54.99) – Not sure about RDR1 performance, but from a gameplay standpoint, should still hold up somewhat.
  • Gotham Knights (-80%, $17.99) – Support has ended but the game is technically complete. Bat Family are the stars here and you can pull off some insane combos. Might be a bit repetitive, but not a bad game.
  • Back 4 Blood (-90%, $8.99) – Zombie co-op FPS! Fun with friends. Support has ended, but servers are still up.
  • Alien Isolation The Collection (-85%, $5.99) – Horror done with the Aliens franchise. Don’t expect Resident Evil action, but loads of tense moments. Pick it up if you dig horror games.
  • XCOM 2 Collection (-90%, $9.99) – Strategy game featuring guns, aliens and did I say strategy?! Not an easy game.

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards and Map This Week October 4

Destiny‘s Trials of Osiris weekly PvP mode has returned this Friday with a new map and rewards. If you’re wondering about the current rotation, we’ve got you covered: MP1st’s new Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards and map this week October 4, 2024 post lists down all that information in full below.

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards This Week October 4 2024:

Trials of Osiris Map:

Distant Shore, Bannerfall and Multiplex

Rewards

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: Eye of Sol (Adept)

Reputation System, Trials Engrams, and Adept Farming

Win individual rounds within each match to gain Trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available Trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be redeemed for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone Flawless, keep playing! Every win you achieve while at the 7-win level, even if you lose your Flawless, has a chance to drop bonus Trials Engrams, adept weapons, prisms, and even Ascendant Shards. There is no penalty for losing once you’ve made it to the Lighthouse!

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone Flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

Passages:

Name Perk Cost
Passage of Persistence Reaching seven wins rewards the weekly Adept weapon. When you are not in a full fireteam, losses following a win remove the win from the card. Reaching seven wins without losing a match grants access to the Lighthouse. 1500 Glimmer
Passage of Ferocity Your third match win grants a bonus win. 1500 Glimmer
Passage of Mercy Forgives one loss per run. Forgives a second loss if you have not yet been flawless this week. 1500 Glimmer
Passage of Wealth Increased reputation from match wins on a ticket. 2500 Glimmer
Passage of Confidence Grants bonus rewards from Flawless Chest. 5000 Glimmer

(Thanks again, /r/DestinyTheGame!)

Report: Tencent and Guillemot Family Considering Ubisoft Buyout

Ubisoft could soon see a major change in ownership. Tencent, the multi-billion dollar Chinese giant, and Ubisoft’s founding Guillemot family are reportedly exploring the possibility of taking Ubisoft private. This potential buyout is being considered as the company faces significant financial difficulties and declining stock prices. The buyout would give Tencent and the Guillemot family greater control and offer a chance to stabilize the company.

According to Bloomberg, Considerations are at an early stage, and no final decisions have been made. However, Ubisoft’s shares have dropped by 54% in 2024, following several high-profile games not meeting expectations, including Star Wars Outlaws and delays of the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The Guillemot family holds 20.5% of Ubisoft’s shares, while Tencent has a 9.2% stake. The combined buyout could take the company private, potentially stabilizing it and avoiding external pressure from other investors.

Ubisoft has struggled throughout 2024, with disappointing results from titles like XDefiant and internal challenges, such as a planned employee strike in France. The company also faced cultural criticism around the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. To boost game sales, Ubisoft also returned to day-one Steam releases and moved away from exclusivity deals with the Epic Games Store.

Despite the recent financial struggles, including a significant dip in share value, Ubisoft’s stock surged by more than 30% after news of the potential buyout broke. Ubisoft, however, has not commented publicly on the situation.

At a glance, it looks like this deal would give Tencent and the Guillemot family more control over Ubisoft’s future and help move the company through its current financial struggles.

Palworld Launches on PS5 in Japan Despite Nintendo Lawsuit; Mobile Version in Development

After a long wait, Palworld has finally launched on PlayStation 5 in Japan, despite ongoing legal battles with Nintendo. The monster-catching survival game, developed by Pocketpair, was previously available on PS5 worldwide except in Japan. Many believe Nintendo’s patent infringement lawsuit caused the delay, but Pocketpair moved forward with the release anyway.

In a post on X/Twitter, the official Palworld Japan account confirmed the game’s PS5 release with an apology for the delay. The post didn’t provide any specific explanation for the delay, though many believe it is linked to the legal actions by Nintendo. Pocketpair has assured players that they will continue supporting the game with new content.

The Nintendo lawsuit claims that Palworld has copied several of Nintendo’s patents, though Pocketpair says they still don’t know exactly which ones. Despite the uncertainty, Pocketpair is standing by their game and plans to fight the accusations. Even with the legal battle hanging over them, the developers remain focused on bringing new updates and making the game available to even more players.

In addition to its launch in Japan, Palworld is also set to debut on mobile devices. Krafton, the creators of PUBG, have teamed up with Pocketpair to bring the game to mobile platforms. The mobile version is being developed by Krafton’s PUBG Studios, which is responsible for keeping the core features of the original game while adapting it for mobile gameplay. No release window has been revealed so far, but we’re assuming it’ll be available sometime next year at some point

This announcement comes as no surprise, given the game’s massive popularity, including a remarkable milestone earlier this year when it hit over two million concurrent players on Steam.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 2.020 Rises Out This Oct. 3 For Bug Fixes

Capcom has begun rolling out Dragon’s Dogma 2 update 2.020, though don’t expect anything major, as the update is focused on addressing a few bugs.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 2.020 Patch Notes

[PlayStation®5 / Xbox Series X|S / Steam]

Modifications and Fixes
  • Fixing issue where, when an Archer Pawn uses Torrent Shot while in battle, the move was cancelled.
  • Fixing issue where, when a Sorcerer Pawn got into the hot springs, they would get stuck using Galvanize.
  • Fixing issue where the character display in the status screen and in shops wouldn’t reflect the Posture parameter set in the Character Editor.
  • Fixing issue where the Dragonsplague’s devastating calamity would affect regions outside the town where the player is staying.

That’s all there is to this update! As a reminder, there are more updates expected to arrive within the next month, the biggest being the one that adds support for the PS5 Pro, which will offer better performance for the title over the base console version. We aren’t expecting it to be locked at 60 FPS, as even the PC version with high-end hardware struggles with providing consistent performance, though we do expect it to be much better than what is currently available. Hopefully, that update will also improve the base console and other platforms further.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Was Originally Planned to Be a Graphical Upgrade; Most “Gimmicks and Easter Eggs” From Original Included

Based on what we’ve seen so far, Konami’s Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater seems to be on-point when it comes to remakes. Not is the game now using Unreal Engine 5, it also features some other new mechanics. But did you know that the game was originally conceived to only be a graphical update?

This was revealed by Producer Noriaki Okamura, and Creative Producer Yuji Korekado in a recent interview. According to the developers, MGS Delta, they originally envisioned the game as having only updated graphics, but this resulted in discrepancies and couldn’t be played well because of it. Because of this, they reworked almost all the animations  and updated other parts of the game.

Korekado: In the beginning, we envisioned only updating the graphics. As long as the backgrounds and character models were cleaned up, we decided to leave the rest of the game as it was. In fact, at first we made a prototype with the animations and other elements as they were.

However, I couldn’t help but notice some discrepancies. Even though the graphics had been improved, we felt that the game could not be played comfortably unless the system, viewpoint, character animations, and other aspects were evolved to match the current hardware performance. I had this concern, but I was convinced of it when I started making the game.

As a result, we reworked almost all of the animations and updated many parts. For example, for the knife motion, we dug out the video data from the training course we took when the original version was created and used current technology to express it while looking at the correct knowledge again.

Thankfully, the new graphics and animations didn’t interfere with the original’s Easter eggs and nods and other neat references to real-world stuff, as the developers confirmed they are planning on including most of the Easter eggs from the original into the remake.

Korekado: We plan to include most of the gimmicks and Easter eggs from the original version, as well as items such as “Weekly Famitsu” and Calorie Mate. Also, in addition to the kerotan, we have newly placed ghakos throughout the map this time.

Garko mimics its environment and is a little harder to find. The kerotan are placed in the same locations as in the original version, but we hope you will look for Ghaco with a new spirit. You will also enjoy a reward when you find them all.

It seems Konami is hitting all the right notes with the upcoming remake. The only thing left now is a release date, which we’re hoping we’ll get before the year is out.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Review – Into Spiritual Territory

In Diablo 4, Lilith may have met her maker, but the story in Blizzard’s new epic is far from over. With the release of the paid DLC Vessel of Hatred, players are in for a bigger and more threatening foe, Mephisto, as well as diving deeper into the fate of Neyrelle. Claims may be made that these are spoilers, but anyone reading it is likely a fan and already eager for the continuation of this story. And what does this expansion brings? Ultimately, more of the same acclaimed hack and slash gameplay with a few twists thrown in for good measure.

Mercenary Life

Vessel of Hatred features a new region called Nahantu, which is divided into six areas, mostly comprised of jungles and canyons. It’s not terribly diverse and you’ll see yourself often tired of galloping past hordes of monsters without a care in the world but to get to the mission objective; however, there are always some sparks of brilliance in architecture and gloom and doom, which fits the overall tone of the game. There’s a feeling of exploring a vast place, but if you didn’t enjoy the expansive but fairly empty – apart from the hordes you find every 10 steps – this one isn’t going to change your mind.

Then we have the new class coming with this expansion, the Spiritborn. For the sixth class, Blizzard has chosen what is described as the apex predator of the jungle. It’s fair to say that the Spiritborn class is somewhat akin to the Monk, so it will seem familiar to players who are used to the Diablo series, but still stands up as it’s very own thing. This is a fun and clever class, striking a balance that is commendable and suited to any type of player, no matter their preferences. Don’t expect any sort of heavy armor or anything like that, as this class is meant to channel the spirit guardians and privilege a fast and acrobatic kind of combat mastery, which in other words means that they will have a lot of skin to show – naturally still with several gear pieces to equip, but closer to the cliché of endgame armor than anything else.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Review

Capable of delivering melee attacks but also featuring enough skills to provide complementary ranged and AoE damage, it’s all rounded up by an appreciable mobility, with a dodge move that is both enjoyable and effective while in the middle of countless foes – and you will find yourself in the middle of them several times. The Spiritborn channels the skills of four spirits that you can mix and match to create devastating builds, with the traditional depth and fun of the Diablo series: Jaguar, Gorilla, Eagle, and Centipede, respectively close to aggression, tank, movement, and poison, among other attributes, each path also coming with a unique ultimate skill.

As you can see, there is plenty of potential for extremely varied builds as you mix different spirit guardian skills. It is an exciting class with tons of potential for experimentation and respec, and by far one of the most unexpected and original classes to ever appear in the Diablo series, instead of another rehash from a familiar class, even though comparisons to the Monk will be heard.

Another feature that is coming (back from Diablo 2) with Vessel of Hatred is mercenaries. You can unlock and recruit various mercenaries by completing quests, to help you out on your own bidding, as a sidekick of immense value. These characters will help you in every tough moment, bringing their own skill trees and abilities that increase the mix and match potential of your own class. There are four mercenaries in total, with very different styles that range from berserkers to archers. With them comes a relationship system, giving you valuable buffs the longer you interact and progress with a specific mercenary, useful for the bartering that you can do to get your hands on some good offerings.

The other standout feature is an endgame coop dungeon, Dark Citadel, introduced for the first time in the series. Far larger than the regular dungeons, this will require a minimum of two players but the sweet spot is four players for this challenge. You have to complete a quest to unlock the dungeon, and you are able to exit and return at a later time, which is perfect given that it takes longer to complete and requires the help of other players.

Familiar Holy Ground

Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred review 3

Vessel of Hatred doesn’t break any new ground and surely won’t make any new converts to Diablo 4, but it offers a nice compromise between familiarity and novelty, while pending more to the former. It’s still the same quality hack and slash game, now with a new and interesting class, a natural progression to the story with a new villain, and many moments of the addictive gameplay fans know, love, and will certainly probe for all the details that can only be found after several hours of playing.

Score: 8.5/10

Pros:

  • The Spiritborn class is a successful melting pot of styles
  • Mercenary system sees a welcome return
  • New coop dungeon should add some spice to endgame
  • Continuation of the story is welcome and exciting

Cons:

  • The new region has lots of “dead” space
  • The gameplay feels very classic, even with twists like the mercenary system

Delta Force: Devs Not Considering IP Bans for Cheaters at the Moment, Will Update Anti-Cheat System to Combat Cronus Users

With Team Jade and TiMi Studio’s Delta Force being a free-to-play game, the chances of it being infiltrated by cheaters is a huge one. Possibly one of the best deterrents would be an IP ban, though for now, that’s not being considered by the devs,

This was revealed by Team Jade in an interview with MP11st. Design Director Ricky Liao along with Publishing Director Jesseca Zhang answered our questions regarding cheaters, and whether an IP ban is needed.

We didn’t stop there, as we also asked about Cronus/XIM users as well.

MP1st: Continuing with that, will XIM/Cronus users be targeted as well when it comes to cheaters?

Ricky: As controller support is not yet live in the game, we haven’t encountered such issues. However, we do plan to address such devices with a future update of the game’s anti-cheat system.

If there’s a scourge of the gaming world, it’s none other than cheaters. While these type of people infiltrate almost all online games , most of them slither their way into free-to-play games. Let’s hope that Team Jade can somehow find a way to stomp these people out before they ruin the fun for people.

Stay tuned to our full interview with Team Jade hitting the site very soon.

Delta Force is set to be released in early access on PC in Q4 2024, while it’s also confirmed to be making its way out on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and even mobile devices.

Enotria: The Last Song Update 1.005 Rolled Out; Here’s the Complete List of Changes

Jyamma Games has pushed out Enotria: The Last Song update 1.005 on both PS5 and PC this October 3, and this is a hefty patch that brings various improvements and bug fixes related to enemies, various HUD improvements and more.

Enotria: The Last Song Update 1.005 Patch Notes:

Here’s the complete changelog provided by Jyamma Games (via press release);

Changes:

  • Tuned the Sickness status to improve the player’s experience. The “Sickness” status now deals less damage. That means that the main character and enemies can’t be fully immune to the status when applied.
  • The percentage of health damage of “Sickness” has been reduced.
  • Tuned the Radiant status to improve the player’s experience. It does not trigger its healing effect immediately, and the explosion is slightly delayed. Thanks to that both the enemies and the players will feel both negative and positive effects of this status. This change also helps with the issue of enemies healing while invincible after radiant was applied to them with a riposte or backstab attack
  • The “Radiant” premature explosion is slightly stronger.
  • The “Wicked” status now heals for less when the maskless one hits an enemy affected by it.
  • Fixed an issue that made certain boundaries not appear when starting a boss fight.
  • Added custom bindings for mouse and keyboard controls.
  • Players can now choose a difficulty level while starting a new game between the ”Soulslike Experience” and the ”Story Mode”. The Game Mode also can be changed between “Story” and “Soulslike” anytime during the playthrough. To do it, the payer should access the in-game Settings menu, in the Gameplay category. This will of course be possible also on playthroughs that is already started. The ”Story Mode” is a bit easier than the original difficulty of the game, instead the ”Soulslike Experience” has been made more difficult.
  • Progression has been balanced based on the feedback we’ve received so far.

Enemies:

  • The difficulty curve of Falesia and Litumnia has been rebalanced to feature less difficulty spikes and an overall smoother experience.
  • Bosses and Mini-Bosses now reward less Memoria, while regular enemies have the Memoria drop amount increased. This will help players progress more smoothly throughout the game and its NG+ cycles.
  • NG+ difficulty has been adjusted due to the base game changes.
  • Enemies that were aligned with the “Gratia” element now are more “tolerant” to the “sickness” status. It will take slightly longer to apply the status against them.
  • Fixed an issue for which certain bosses in rare condition would be unresponsive towards the player.
  • Fixed an issue for which certain enemies were taking a lot more damage than intended when the maskless one would execute a riposte or backstab attack against them.
  • The “Priestess” in the “High priestess” boss fight now can coordinate attacks.
  • Improved “Veltha” hitboxes when she stomps on the ground and executes the follow-up combo.
  • Small crabs are no longer able to deal double damage with regular attacks.
  • The minimum damage dealt to the player by the enemies has been adjusted.
  • Certain bosses will now transition into phase 2 slightly sooner.

Maskless One:

  • Nerfed the “Rock” item damage.
  • All weapons have now improved their attack flow.
  • Armonia Amber use has been speed up.
  • Lines charge speed has been adjusted to be faster at lower levels, thanks to that even the very slow lines should be usable from the start, but you still have to upgrade them to deal competitive damage in the late game.
  • “Stage” Weapons are now overall stronger to match the new balance of the game.

Fixes:

  • Corrected Lines HUD to display usability properly.
  • The status HUD will no longer appear after the effect ends.
  • Armonia’s charges will now be correctly displayed with Zanni’s Mask.
  • Addressed the issue with Memoria disappearing if not looted before quitting the game.
  • Fixed a progression lock caused by using Hymn of Return after defeating Arlecchino.
  • Made a combat rift in Quinta visible again.
  • Fixed terrain holes in Strale Velata and Litumnia City Commons where players could fall off the map.
  • Resolved issue where music in Quinta continued playing after defeating mobs who were playing the music.
  • Fixed occasional double dialogue lines.
  • Corrected Main Character HP bar display issue showing incorrect HP instead of 0.
  • Fixed the issue preventing players from choosing the second dialogue option.
  • Addressed a rare issue where the main character could get stuck in an elevator.
  • Fixed boss music stopping under certain conditions.
  • Corrected Balanzone’s voice overs not triggering properly.
  • Fixed spell volume issues preventing some spells from being heard.
  • Polished and fixed various cutscenes.
  • Veltha will no longer cause players to get stuck on a rare occasion.
  • Added a flawed vessel outside the tutorial area.
  • Adjusted animation blending to make the movement feel more natural.
  • Implemented various combat improvements, making it feel way smoother and seamless.
  • Combat animation speed has been increased, this makes the combat more dynamic while keeping the original style of the game.
  • Fixed many smaller bugs and issues mentioned by the players.
  • Fixed various crashes that may have occurred during gameplay.

PS5 additional note:

  • In this version the problem of some saves visual glitch has been not solved. If an old game is still not recognized please don’t delete it, we’re working on fix for that.

No word yet on when the Xbox version will be released, but Microsoft has acknowledged the studio’s struggles with them recently.

  • Fixed an issue where it was still possible to receive items players already possessed as Boss Rush mode rewards.

DEVNOTE: The chance was previously very low, but we removed the potential to receive duplicate items from the rewards table completely.

  • Fixed an issue where Vortex could potentially pull Bosses, Player Summons and Very Good Boy in Boss Rush.

|Misc}

  • Fixed an issue where players could get into a state where Duane would not complete Numbing Agent recipe.

DEV NOTE: Duane was just trying to keep that delicious recipe to himself.

  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to not receive Alloy Extractor from Spark when accepting her quest.

DEVNOTE: This should also fix an issue where it was possible to refuse to accept her quest the first time, but then some players were unable to try to acquire it later.

  • Fixed an issue where Players were unable to load a profile with DLC3 content after removing entitlements to the DLC.

DEVNOTE: Now players will be sent back to Ward 13 and their DLC3 items will be unequipped.

  •  Fixed an issue where some players could not get sword reward from Ava McCabe if they changed their system clock or played Boss Rush mode after giving Black Metal Bars to McCabe.

Player

 –|Archetypes|–

|Warden|

  • Fixed an issue where Warden Trait Barrier was not unlocking account-wide at level 10.

|Engineer|

  • Fixed an issue where Vulcan cannon was not allowing windup when dodging.
  • Fixed an issue where Overclock wasn’t resetting at the Worldstone.
  • Fixed an issue where Heavy Weapon: Vulcan was firing shots at a slow constant rate dealing less DPS per second.

|Archon|

  • Reduced Havoc Form Lighting Hands Damage.
  • Reduced Lightning Dash AOE Damage.

DEVNOTE: Havoc Form was doing too much damage all around, often handily beating any other build by a large margin. These changes are designed to bring it more in line with other builds. We will keep an eye on it and make additional adjustments where necessary.

|Invoker|

  • Reverted Line of Sight change on Way of Kaeula, Miasma, and Eruption.

DEVNOTE: While this behavior can still cause certain unintended issues, the addition of the LOS check had too much of an impact on the fun-factor of these skills. We will look to address any balance issues that pop-up from this change in a future patch.

Gear / Items

|Weapons & Mods|

  • Fixed an issue where Mod Generation was not working correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where Monorail windup/charge was not increasing damage properly.
  • Fixed an issue where Genesis Bow was scaling incorrectly.

DEVNOTE: Now uses boss scaling, but damage was reduced so that at max level, the primary fire still does the same damage as before. From 75×2 (150) to 50×3 (150).

  • Reduced Megadrive Damage Scaling on returning bolts.
  • Fixed an issue where Voidlight was not functioning properly with certain projectiles.
  • Fixed an issue where Voidlight was not correctly accumulating with certain damage types.
  • Fixed an Issue with Black Greatsword basic attacks counting as Charge Attacks.

DEVNOTE: This also allows Weaponlord Mutator to properly function with the sword.

|Trinkets, Mutators, Relics|

  • Fixed an issue where the same character affixes were able to be applied more than once.
  • Increased Hardcore Metal Band Max Stacks from 2 to 3 as intended in last patch.
  • Updated text on Dull Steel Ring to better represent the effect.
  • Fixed an issue that was enabling Burden of the Mason to grant full benefits from Zero Hour and Gul Signet while at Medium Armor Weight encumbrance.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed Hypercharger to benefit all Melee Damage instead of Charge only.

Enemies

  • Fixed an issue where Sentinel Drones would sometimes get stuck in cliffs in DLC 3.

  • Fixed an issue where Brabus had visible markup language in one of his lines.
  • Fixed an issue where Ritualist skill Deathwish was not displaying duration on the tooltip.
  • Fixed an issue where Warden Archetype on character selection screen was not displaying descriptive text.

Misc Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where navigation was sometimes broken the first time loading into DLC3 in campaign.
  •  Fixed an issue where players could vault out of the world in Gas Chamber level.
  • Fixed an issue where Simulacrum was not spawning correctly in DLC3.

Hironobu Sakaguchi Says He “Cheated on Nintendo” When He and Final Fantasy Went to PlayStation

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, admitted he “cheated” on Nintendo by moving the series to PlayStation. This surprising decision took place nearly 30 years ago with Final Fantasy VII. Rather than launching on Nintendo’s latest console, the Nintendo 64, it became a PlayStation exclusive.

In an interview with OneMoreGame, Sakaguchi acknowledged this moment in his career, even admitting that he “cheated” on Nintendo by taking Final Fantasy to PlayStation. “I look back at my career and I really got a huge part of my start from the NES and Nintendo. So, without the NES, I would say none of any of this would have been possible, but then, you know, I cheated on Nintendo and went to PlayStation,” said Sakaguchi.

While the move initially seemed risky, it proved to be a monumental success. Final Fantasy VII helped establish PlayStation as a major contender in the gaming industry. Sakaguchi, however, expressed that despite the switch, both Nintendo and Sony played essential roles in shaping his career. “Whether it was Nintendo or Sony, I think both of those companies in addition to Final Fantasy VI kind of represent a lot of my origin story in terms of my career development,” he explained.

Before this move, Nintendo had been the home of Final Fantasy, hosting the first six games on its NES and SNES systems. However, with the development of Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix made the decision to switch to Sony’s PlayStation. The move was largely driven by the affordability and storage capacity of CD-ROMs, which were used by PlayStation, compared to Nintendo’s more expensive cartridges. The change allowed Final Fantasy VII to include the high-quality visuals and music that would have been impossible on Nintendo’s hardware at the time.

Sakaguchi also discussed Fantasian Neo Dimension, a game he considers may be his last. Originally launched on Apple Arcade, the game is now coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation consoles, and even PC and Xbox Series X/S. He remarked on how it feels like a “huge high school reunion” to see Fantasian on platforms that have influenced his entire career.
