Riot Games Layoffs Affect 530 Employees, Roughly 11% of Staff

Following the recent trend of layoffs and closures, League of Legends developer Riot is the latest studio to announce job cuts. Yesterday evening, Riot Games layoffs hit the company and affected 530 roles, which amounts to roughly 11% of the company.

The layoffs were announced in a news post on Riot Games’ official website. The post read as follows:

Players,

Minutes ago, we shared with Rioters that we are refocusing on fewer, high-impact projects to move us toward a more sustainable future. Now, we want to tell you what these changes mean for our games, everything around them (esports, Arcane, music, etc.), and what to expect going forward.

For most of our history, we’ve managed to avoid days like this, but this decision is critical for the future of Riot. This isn’t to appease shareholders or to hit a quarterly earnings number—it’s a necessity. Over the past few years, as Riot more than doubled in headcount, we spread our efforts across more and more projects without sharp enough razors to decide what players needed most. The adjustments we’re making aim to focus us on the areas that have the greatest impact on your experience while reducing investment on things that don’t.

This means we’re eliminating about 530 roles globally, which represents around 11% of Rioters, with the biggest impact to teams outside of core development. We recognize that many of you don’t just care about the games you play, but also about the people who make them. These are not just organizational changes; they affect individuals and families, and we do our best to approach these decisions with respect and sensitivity. If you’d like to read the email we sent to Rioters, we’ve shared it here.

In a post directly addressed to the Riot employees themselves, CEO Dylan Jadeja cites a lack of focus and some poorly-returned investments as reasons for the cuts. According to him, the company’s costs are “unsustainable,” leaving them no room for experimentation. Layoffs are a sort of “last resort” to fix the company’s trajectory, a common message we’ve seen across many recent developer downsizings.

Riot has promised an extensive set of severance benefits for those affected, including a minimum 6 months of severance pay, a cash bonus, continued health benefits, and equity for their existing investments in Riot Games. The company is also giving ex-employees laptops and 6 months of career support. While it’s tragic to see this many people lose their jobs, Riot does seem to be trying to do it right.

Riot is just the latest in a long line of recent layoffs. This month alone, we’ve seen layoffs at social platforms like Discord, streaming sites like Twitch, and even game engine companies such as Unity. The video game job cuts epidemic has spread beyond simply developers, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing anytime soon.

We’ll be sure to keep readers updated as we hear more about those affected.

BOBOVR S3 Pro Super Strap Brings Air Conditioning to Quest 3

BOBOVR just announced a brand-new strap for the Quest 3 that brings significant improvements to VR comfort, including improved battery life and the addition of some onboard cooling to keep the sweat off your head.

A VR Strap With Air Conditioning?

Announced on X, the BOBOVR S3 Pro Super Strap is now available to purchase, with an available early bird discount, as well as a discount for those who purchased the previous M3 model.

The new S3 Pro Super has some design changes, allowing better comfort with a flattened back pad. There’s also a new battery dubbed the B100 battery system. It remains the same size as the previous B2 system but goes from 5200mah to 10000mah in capacity, nearly doubling the battery life! An upgrade kit will be available for the M-Series headsets later this quarter.

As attractive as that increase in battery life is, those planning on buying the S3 Pro Super will be in for another surprise as it will also feature some built-in air conditioning. That’s massive, especially for users who are susceptible to sweating while wearing a headset. As big an improvement as the Quest 3, it can still become hot under there. It’s one of the reasons why I don’t play VR for hours end, as it always feels like a sweat lodge after 30 minutes or so. That may be because I play a lot of Beat Saber, which is quite an exercise.

BOBOVR notes that the S3 Pro Super supports 100 wind levels and uses silent technology to decrease fan noise.

Mind you, with the added cooling system, the battery life will likely drain faster. This may be one of the reasons why BOBOVR is offering a new battery system to begin with so that it can stay on par with the previous unit when used with the cooling system.

Currently, the BOBVR S3 Pro Super is being offered a limited-time early bird special of $89.99. After that, it’ll jump to its original MSRP of $119.99.

Helldivers 2 Gameplay Details Expanded in New Galactic War Trailer

A new slew of Helldivers 2 gameplay details have come out in a recently released trailer. Dubbed the “Galactic War” trailer, it features about five minutes of new gameplay footage and some expanded details regarding the setting and mission types we can expect when the game launches in a few weeks.

You can view the newest trailer here:

The more we see of this game, the more our excitement builds. Let’s jump into what we learned from Helldivers 2’s latest outing:

Helldivers 2 Gameplay Details:

  • New Enemy Types — The bug-like Termininds are making a return in Helldivers 2, but brave soldiers will now also face off against the Automatons, a sinister force of robots. They appear as foot soldiers and mechs, and we’re certain to see some extra large mechanical opponents as well.
  • Galactic Map — Using a holographic table, players will choose which missions to deploy themselves on. Super Earth High Command will also give Helldivers two types of orders: Major and Personal Orders. Major Orders are massive, long-term goals that the community as a whole works to accomplish. Personal Orders, on the other hand, are minor objectives that personally reward squads for completion of a specific set of goals.
  • Operations — Operations are collections of missions that vary in number based on difficulty. Objectives are spread across maps, both mandatory and optional, and players will have the freedom to complete them in the order they choose.
  • Unlockables and Upgrades — Helldivers can upgrade their Helldiver Destroyer, the massive warship that players spend time at in between deployments. Upgrades will allow for better weaponry and expanded ship styles, and they’re earned by collecting specific samples, earning medals from missions and orders, and completing assignments. All of this works to help build a loadout to suit your playstyle.
  • Developer Interaction — With the way the Galactic War is set up, the developers can watch how the community tackles Operations and Assignments and react accordingly, rewarding brave Helldivers with new missions and gear and advancing the story as time goes on.

We can’t wait to get diving and take our part in the Galactic War. Helldivers 2 launches on February 8 for PS5 and PC.

Little Problems, A New Detective Game That Brings Charms and Coziness to Solving Mysteries

Not all detective work revolves around crime and murders, nor are they all tangled in some web of conspiracy with some grand scheme behind them. In fact, many cases are considered minor, little problems, if you may. That’s precisely what publisher Playstack and solo developer Posh Cat have for us with their debut title, Little Problems, a detective game that focuses on solving those minor inconveniences in a cozy and very charming environment.

Not All Heroes Wear A Cape

Inspired by The Case of the Golden Idol, Little Problems puts players in the shoes of a student dealing with everyday problems. Missed a day of class? Have an assignment that is due? Late to lunch? Small problems that many often overlook, leaving them unsolved and doomed to repeat themselves, something that Posh Cat is aiming to highlight with their game in a joyful way.

“We’re excited to bring ‘Little Problems’ to a wide audience of gamers who’d enjoy smart, detective gameplay in a more cozy setting,” said Harvey Elliott, CEO of Playstack. “This game is a testament to Posh Cat’s innovative vision and we believe it will resonate deeply with both players seeking a cozy yet engaging gaming experience and accomplished detectives.”

Little Problems will be released later this year, with a demo dropping soon on PC. You can wishlist it on Steam right now!

Addressed Community Feedback

General

  • Store Search Bar:
    • We included within the Store tab in-game search bar, making it easier to find specific bundles
    • Its functionality is similar to the Inventory search bar

  • Server Admin controls for Custom Servers
    • Added the following configuration for Custom Servers:
      • Enable/Disable Seasonal Zeds
        • To apply the changes, add the following line to your batch file: “?SeasonalSkinsIndex=<NUMBER>”
        • SeasonalSkinsIndex=-1 -> not used
        • SeasonalSkinsIndex=0 -> Default
        • SeasonalSkinsIndex=1 -> Spring (Note No Seasonal Zed Variants Available with this index so will be the same as default)
        • SeasonalSkinsIndex=2 -> Summer Sideshow
        • SeasonalSkinsIndex=3 -> Halloween
        • SeasonalSkinsIndex=4 -> Christmas
  • SDK Updates and Modding Hooks
    • Two new modding hooks have been added for the community to use:
      • Addition of an “Enable Door” Kismet node
      • Now Elite Zeds can be replaced as well using Zed replacements
  • Survivalist Weapon List cleanup
    • The Survivalist weapon list within the trader was getting a bit too clogged, so now the trader will only show Survivalist Perk and Offperk-specific weapons while on that tab
      • This will affect inventory sorting per Perk as well

Balance

  • Weapons
    • Glock 18 and Riot Shield
      • Spread (default fire mode) from 0.06 to 0.045
    • FAMAS Masterkey
      • Buy price from 1200 to 1000
    • HRG Stunner
      • InstantHitDamage (default fire mode) from 60 to 80
  • Perks
    • Firebug – Firestorm
      • Increase ground fire duration a 20%
    • SWAT – Assault Armor
      • Now 50% of armor will be added at the beginning of each wave

Designer Notes:

With our balance tweaks, we aimed to polish up some of the remaining things the State of the Game survey showed as important.

The Glock on the Glock 18 and Riot Shield tandem was a bit scattered on its shot, something a SWAT cannot afford! The spread was reduced to make the gun a tad more reliable

The FAMAS is an interesting gun to play with, but couldn’t compete with high-tier shotguns. Reducing its price makes it a weapon available in earlier waves

The HRG Stunner needed a buff on its regular fire mode damage, so we applied it! Enjoy the carnage, Stunner fans.

Regarding the Firestorm perk Skill, it now makes the ground fire last for longer in addition to the fire spray weapons range increase. Firewall much?
Last but not least, the SWAT can now benefit from its Assault Armor each wave, not only at the beginning of the game.

WWE 2K24 ESRB Rating Summary Revealed, Confirms In-Game Purchases

The ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) rated WWE 2K24 as “T” for Teen, and references Blood, Use of Alcohol, Violence and Suggestive Themes which is pretty much expected from the franchise. Additionally, In-Game purchases (microtransactions) are also mentioned.

WWE 2K24 ESRB Rating and Summary:

T(Teen) – Blood, Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol, Violence

This is a wrestling game in which players compete in matches with real-world wrestlers from the WWE rosters. Players can progress through different storylines while performing strikes and wrestling moves (e.g., submissions, grapples, holds) against opponents. In some matches, players can use objects (e.g., chairs, guitars, sledgehammers) to inflict damage on opponents. Some attacks cause blood to appear on wrestlers’ heads and faces; video footage of historic bouts also depict blood on wrestlers. Some characters wear revealing outfits (e.g., deep cleavage, low-cut tops) and make taunting gestures (e.g., crotch chop, slapping buttocks, gyrating hips) during intros and matches. An entrance video depicts a camera panning up a female wrestler’s short shorts and partially exposed chest (hands covering breasts). A video segment depicts a wrestler drinking beer and/or spitting beer at an opponent; beer is also referenced during an interview clip. Some wrestlers are seen raising their middle fingers to the crowd/opponents; the word “a*s” is referenced in the dialogue.

So far, the ESBR rating of the game seems to be par for the course, which isn’t surprising at all.

Will WWE 2K24 Feature Microtransctions?

Based on the ESRB rating, it confirms that “in-game purchases” will be in the game, which means players can expect game’s currency (VC) to be available for purchase once again alongside other items. Given this has been the case the past few years, this isn’t really anything new.

The latest installment of the wrestling sim will be released March 5 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Although the JAK Signal Burst possesses lethal 1-burst kill potential, its recoil often limits its effectiveness at the most common engagement ranges. Additionally, its burst delay caused difficulty in landing a follow-up burst to confirm kills. Today’s changes target these weaknesses, making this Aftermarket Part a more favorable option.

» Battle Rifles «

  • Sidewinder
    • JAK Thunder LMG Kit
      • Decreased bullets required to reach maximum rate of fire from 25 to 15 (-40%).

The JAK Thunder LMG Kit is all about committing to a gunfight and letting the rate of fire accelerate to deadly RPMs. Today’s change gets this Weapon to its maximum damage potential significantly faster. Let loose! Equip the JAK BFB or Billeted Brake Attachments and pre-fire to your heart’s content for maximum effectiveness.

» Submachine Guns «

  • AMR9
    • Decreased maximum damage range from 16.5m to 14m (-15%).
    • Decreased near-medium damage range from 22.9m to 20.3m (-11%).
    • Decreased medium damage range from 38.1m to 35.6m (-7%).
    • Increased headshot damage multiplier from 1.2x to 1.3x (+8%).
    • Decreased lower-torso damage multiplier from 1.1x to 1x (-9%).
    • Decreased lower-arm damage multiplier from 1.1x to 1x (-9%).
    • Decreased hand damage multiplier from 1.1x to 1x (-9%).
    • Increased upper-leg damage multiplier from 0.9x to 1x (+11%).
    • Increased lower-leg damage multiplier from 0.9x to 1x (+11%).
    • Increased foot damage multiplier from 0.9x to 1x (+11%).
    • Increased rate of fire from 789rpm to 833rpm (+6%).
    • JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit
      • Overhauled firing mechanism to simultaneously fire two bullets per shot.
      • Added locational damage multipliers.
        • Head: 1x
        • Neck: 0.9x
        • Upper-Torso: 0.9x
        • Lower-Torso: 0.9x
        • Upper-Arm: 0.9x
        • Lower-Arm: 0.8x
        • Hand: 0.8x
        • Upper-Leg: 0.8x
        • Lower-Leg: 0.8x
        • Foot: 0.8x
      • Decreased aim down sight spread by 75%.
      • Decreased hipfire spread penalty by 50%.

Upon release in Week 6, the JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit did not function as designed. With this update, this Conversion Kit has been reworked to truly fire two bullets at once (it is no longer a 2-round burst), noticeably improving its time-to-kill. Additionally, we’ve significantly reduced the aim down sight spread and recoil of this Conversion Kit, allowing better control in close-mid range engagements where the Ettin is intended to shine.

  • Rival-9
    • JAK Headhunter Carbine Conversion
      • Decreased maximum damage from 30 to 26 (-13%).
      • Decreased medium damage from 29 to 24 (-17%).
      • Decreased minimum damage from 25 to 22 (-12%).
      • Increased headshot damage multiplier from 1.3x to 2x (+54%).
      • Increased neck damage multiplier from 1.1x to 1.5x (+36%).
      • Increased upper-torso damage multiplier from 1.1x to 1.5x (+36%).
      • Decreased burst fire delay from 80ms to 66ms (-18%).
      • Decreased sprint to fire penalty by 10%.
      • Decreased aim down sight time penalty by 7%.
      • Decreased hipfire spread penalty by 20%.

True to its namesake, the JAK Headhunter Carbine Conversion is most lethal when accurately landing shots to the head and upper-torso. Today’s changes increase its lethality and decreases the burst fire delay in order to improve its ability to duel at a distance. We intend for this Aftermarket Part to play more like an agile, mid-range Assault Rifle than a Submachine Gun; we expect that it may be out-performed by the base Rival-9 at close range. Equip damage range, bullet velocity, and recoil control Attachments to highlight its strengths.

      • Increased gun kick control benefit by 10%.

      • Decreased burst fire delay from 120ms to 90ms (-25%).

EQUIPMENT

  • Breacher Drone (Lethal)
    • Detonation upon impact within 5m will now occur with a decreased detection radius.

Previously, the Breacher Drone could not detonate upon impact with a player within the initial 5 meters of its flight. Now, it can detonate with a reduced detection radius within this range, addressing reports of the drone “passing through” enemies. Functionality beyond 5 meters remains unchanged.

WARLORDS

Warlord Randomization

  • Dokkaebi’s week-long spotlight has ended, and now a random Warlord will be selected at the start of each match.
  • Players can view which Warlord is active via the Tac Map. Plan accordingly!
  • Players can also progress the Act 4 Mission ‘Storm the Castle’ by eliminating any Warlord when this mission is active.

Warlord: Dokkaebi

  • Players will no longer be able to eliminate Dokkaebi in one shot with multiple weapons.

Why Can’t I See the Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Download for the Jan. 23 Update?

It’s not just you, as the patch is a server-side one, which means that players will automatically apply the patch once they’ve connected to the game’s servers. You see that prompt notifying there is a playlist update? Yeah, that’s it.

While players downloaded the big Season 1 Reloaded patch last week, there was a few things not documented in the patch notes, which we’ve listed here.

Tekken 8 Preload and Launch Times – Here’s When You Can Start Downloading and Playing

For those who pre-ordered Tekken 8 digitally, you’ll be happy to know that preloading will soon be available, and Bandai Namco has released the official Tekken 8 preload and launch timings.

Tekken 8 – When Can I Preload?

It looks like Tekken 8 is having a universal release, as while the game is due to officially launch on January 26, digital owners, at least stateside, will be able to enjoy playing the game a lot earlier than expected. But before we break down release timings, let’s first talk about when you can pre-load!

The good news is that Tekken 8 preload will be available starting today! At approximately 6:00 PM Eastern today, digital buyers will be able to preload Tekken 8! For those wondering, the download size will be roughly 80GB across all platforms, so be sure you have the space for it!

As for when you can start playing, the official X account for Tekken 8 revealed that everyone will be able to play once the clock hits 6:00 PM Eastern on January 25. This is a universal release, so whatever time that is (listed below) in your region, that’ll be when it becomes available to play.

What’s surprising is that this release doesn’t follow typical releases, where it’s based on local timings. That means those who pre-ordered stateside will get to play Tekken 8 about six hours earlier based on typical releases. Not bad!

In the meantime, if you haven’t already, be sure to read the Tekken 8 review to find out why it’s one of the best fighters to release! Here’s what our reviewer had to say.

“Tekken 8 joins a full roster of fighting games and competes with the best of them. Naturally, as we couldn’t take the game online during our review period, it remains to be seen how effective Bandai Namco and Akira were at implementing rollback netcode. All Tekken fans should buy Tekken 8 without hesitation, and most fighting game fans will find something to like as well. Though the year may have just started, Tekken 8 will probably compete for fighting game of the year, and barring any surprises, it should be the runaway winner.”

Tekken 8 will be available worldwide on January 26 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Rumor: Death Stranding 2 Full Title May Be “On the Beach,” Reveal Imminent

Thanks to a reputable leaker, we may finally know the Death Stranding 2 full title ahead of an upcoming reveal. According to the leaker, the next Kojima game’s full title is “Death Stranding 2 – On the Beach,” and a reveal event is likely happening sometime within the next couple weeks.

The new title was posted in an article by well-known leaker billbil-kun on the Dealabs Magazine website. Apparently, their sources claim that the subtitle “On the Beach” is a key part of Death Stranding 2’s title. Beach iconography is no stranger to the series, as the first game’s initial reveal trailer put a naked Norman Reedus on a beach with a bunch of dead whales. What’s more, the Beach acts as a halfway point between life and death in the Death Stranding universe.

The title is likely also influenced by the 1959 film “On the Beach.” It’s a film that centers around the aftermath of nuclear warfare and the impending doom of worldwide fallout from the dropping of bombs. It’s also one of Death Stranding 2 Director Hideo Kojima’s favorite movies:

The article from billbil-kun also estimates that we’ll likely see a second reveal for the game in the next 15 days. That’s a pretty small window for an announcement, but it’s definitely plausible. He cites reliable industry insider Jeff Grubb’s report that a State of Play will take place sometime soon as evidence that the reveal could take place within Sony’s own showcase event.

We haven’t seen anything of Death Stranding 2 since its initial reveal at The Game Awards in 2022. We’ve heard bits and pieces from Kojima and others as time has gone on, but it’s well past time for another look at the game. We’re anxious to see more of what Sam “Porter” Bridges and the supporting cast has in store for us.

As we always say, take this information with a plate of salt. Until we have firm confirmation of the game’s full title, we can’t bank on anything. That being said, what do you think of Death Stranding 2’s potential full title? Let us know in the comments.

CLASS UPDATES

Developer’s Note: It’s important to us that when a player chooses to fully invest in a Skill, the payoff is immense. In pursuit of this goal, several of our new Unique and Legendary items are targeting Skills that have yet to reach their full potential. We’re excited to see what players accomplish with our new Unique items for Barbarian’s Rend, Druid’s Lightning Storm, and Sorcerer’s Meteor. We’re also targeting some pressing issues for each Class. Necromancers with Cult Leader should see their Minions strike a bit harder, Barbarians shouldn’t feel that 3 Shouts are a requirement for their success, and Sorceresses applying Vulnerable with Lightning Spear should open new build opportunities. There are also Class updates to items and Skills that are underperforming, such as the Rogue’s Ranged Unique Items, and the Necromancer’s Golem.

Diablo 4 Update 1.31 Patch Notes | Diablo 4 Update 1.3.0 Patch Notes | D4 Season of the Construct Patch Notes:

Size: 7.4GB (PS5)

The Atomic Shop is accessible at any time from the main menu, as well as the pause screen after leaving Vault 76 for the first time.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 1.005.601 Pushed Out This Jan. 23, Here Are the Patch Notes

Baldur’s Gate 3 update 1.005.601 has been released by Larian Studios on all platforms this January 23, and this is for a specific error fix! Read on for the complete BG3 new update patch notes below.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 1.005.601 Patch Notes | BG3 New Update Patch Notes for January 23:

Size: 536MB (PS5)

Here’s the announcement from Larian Studios about today’s patch:

Unlucky enough to have run into Error 544 on PS5?

Invisible save files that generated when the error popped up previously have now been solved.

We’ve pushed a patch on PS5 that will make these saves visible. Here’s how to delete them

  1. Update your game with the new patch
  2. Navigate to ‘Load Game’ on the game menu
  3. Review old saves that may have been invisible
  4. Delete these old saves
  5. Launch your main game save

In addition to the patch, Hotfix 17 was released last week, which you can read about below.

PERFORMANCE AND CODE

  • [Fixed] Black and colourful visual artefacts sometimes appearing for 1 frame on PS5 when switching scenes or opening and closing UI windows.
  • [Fix Submitted] Error 544We have increased the compression of savegames, which should fix several issues caused by large savegame files, including some instances of the Error 544 message. We have also reduced the size of save files by removing summons that don’t exist in the game anymore.
  • Guarded against crashes caused when certain character resources (Actions, Bonus Actions, Superiority Dice, etc.) were added and later removed by a mod or cheat engine.

GAMEPLAY AND COMBAT

  • [Fixed] In Honour Mode, the aura of Cazador’s [spoiler]Potent Mist Form[/spoiler] now properly dissipates after he’s [spoiler]no longer in Mist Form[/spoiler]. Sorry!
  • [Fixed] The camera sometimes zooming in while jumping or casting projectile spells.
  • [Fixed] The ability to walk through open doors when you click beyond them from far away.
  • [Fixed] Thieves’ Tools in the camp chest or inventory of a companion who is waiting at camp not being accessible when lockpicking.

UI

  • [Fixed] Safeguard Shield’s Saving Throw modifier is now correctly reflected on the Character Sheet.

FLOW AND SCRIPTING

  • [Fixed] Gale will no longer permanently leave the party if you don’t offer him any magic items while talking to him – unless you’re abundantly clear that you don’t plan on ever doing so.This is a temporary bug fix that aims to avoid Gale immediately leaving the party when players are unable to hand over an item. In Hotfix #16, we began the process of updating a player’s ability to access certain quest-related items, even if they were in the camp chest, or in the inventory of a companion waiting at camp. However, the UI through which items can be donated to Gale has not yet been updated, which meant that the dialogue could be triggered if the items were available elsewhere, but would not show in the UI to be donated. This risked placing players in a situation where Gale expected an item from them, and they were unable to provide one.

With this initial fix, closing the UI or using any line other than “I’m not giving you anything. Not now, not ever” will prevent Gale from immediately abandoning your party, until the UI logic has been updated.

If you’re keen to give Gale the boot, and don’t have an actual shoe to share in your inventory, selecting “I’m not giving you anything. Not now, not ever”, will still cause Gale to leave your party, permanently!

  • [Fixed] characters getting stuck ‘in a story event’, preventing you from controlling them, after getting killed in the fight with Grym.

If there’s another patch released, or if a new expansion is teased, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Palworld Pokemon Mod Struck Down: “Nintendo Has Come for Me” Says Mod Author

In the few days since its release, Palworld has absolutely blown up on the internet. It’s beat out several massive games for all-time peak concurrent player counts. While many have wondered if Nintendo will take action against the game due to its numerous similarities to Pokemon, it appears they’re definitely against the community making any blatant connections to their monster-catching franchise, as modder ToastedShoes has already been DMCA’d by the company for posting a Palworld Pokemon mod trailer online.

The trailer, which was uploaded yesterday, showcased a mod with some model swaps that replaced many of Palworld’s Pal creatures with classic Pokemon. A more complete overview has since been uploaded on YouTube, which you can view below:

The initial trailer was quickly removed from Twitter, and shortly after its removal, ToastedShoes tweeted an image with the caption “Nintendo has come for me, please leave me in your thoughts and prayers:”

If we had to guess, Palworld is likely in too much of a gray area for Nintendo to come after it without substantial evidence on their side. The mod, however, is a blatant rip of Nintendo assets, and while we think it’s a fun change-up for the game, Nintendo clearly doesn’t see it the same way.

The mod is pretty extensive so far from the footage ToastedShoes shared. It replaces the player character with Ash Ketchum, the animated series’ protagonist. It also swaps out well over a dozen creature models with familiar Pokemon faces such as Torchic, Electabuzz, and of course, Pikachu.

The mod is currently not publicly available as ToastedShoes wants to play it safe given Nintendo’s recent DMCA. If the mod gets put up for download, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
