College Football 26 Update on July 29 Hits the Field for Version 1.006

EA has released a new minor update for College Football 26 and this is another unannounced patch. While we’re not expecting any new content, there shouldn’t be a lot of gameplay-related changes as well, since we got the game’s first major update last week.

Expect the patch to help with game stability and performance, as crashes  plagued the game after the last update.  Those on PS5, you should see this download appear as College Football 26 update 1.006 (version 1.006.000).

College Football 26 Update on July 29 Now Live on All Platforms

College Football 26 update 1.004

Unfortunately, EA has not released any patch notes yet, which is par for the course for the dev team when it comes to minor updates.

Some of the items we hope got fixed, which are issues the community has mentioned before, include:

  • Game stability and crashing issues
  • Cincinnati’s uniform bugged
  • Awards disappearing
  • Soundtrack issues
  • Dynasty Stadium Atmosphere grade not working
  • Disappearing players on Defense
  • Fake Field Goal bug
  • If RB is blocked, you can’t make any more blocking adjustments.

There’s a lot more than that, but those are some of the big ticket items we’ve noticed. If EA releases a proper changelog, we’ll update the article with the info, so sit tight.

  • MAC: 9 GB
  • PC: 16 GB

Highlights

NEW GAME+

Upon completing the main story on any difficulty, start a new game while keeping all collected skills, gear, Allies and hideout progression from your first playthrough. You can start a New Game+ playthrough from the Memory Menu in the Animus after finishing all journeys of Naoe, Yasuke and Junjiro.

Upon completing a New Game+ playthrough you’ll be awarded Whisper of Gold, and Dragon’s Gold! Brand new gold plated Legendary Long Katana and Legendary Katana with their own unique perk engravings.

Take your journey through Feudal Japan to the next level as many times as you want… or at least up to 8 times with New Game+! With each new venture into New Game+, face stronger foes, more demanding challenges, and tests of your Shinobi and Samurai skills.

KNOWLEDGE RANK & LEVEL CAP INCREASE

Prepare to push beyond your limits! We’ve raised the level cap from 60 to 80, meaning tougher foes with enhanced tactics and awareness – demanding sharper reflexes and smarter strategies.

To meet this rising threat, we’ve also expanded the Knowledge Rank system to 9 & 10 allowing players to unlock and develop a broader array of skills, passives, and combat techniques to become even more masterful.

New Game+ awaits! But before taking on the task of a new journey, you can upgrade the passives and skills of Naoe and Yasuke! Players will gain 1 new rank for multiple nodes in their Mastery Skills, and 10 new ranks for all existing Knowledge passives to become even more formidable.

A test of your skills is no match without the right gear! The Forge can now be upgraded to level 4, allowing players to upgrade all weapons and gear to level 80 to have the edge on the rising threats that await.

With new levels and ranks, come three new achievements and trophies waiting to be unlocked:

  • Enjoy the Ride: Reach Level 80
  • Stars Unseen: Reach Knowledge Rank 10
  • Worth its Wait: Obtain the Gold Katana and Gold Long Katana (by completing the story on New Game+).

Rainbow Six Siege X Update 3.06/1.000.111 on July 29 Delivers ShieldGuard Improvements

Ubisoft has released a minor update for Rainbow Six Siege X on consoles and PC, with the focus primarily on ShieldGuard improvements. Console gamers will see this as Rainbow Six Siege X update 3.06/1.000.111, and this should be a small download.

This patch was released with an accompanying server downtime, so if you’re experiencing issues logging in, that’s the reason.

Rainbow Six Siege X Update on July 29 Brings a Minor Patch for ShieldGuard

According to Ubisioft, “A hotfix will be deployed today, July 29th. This patch includes updates to ShieldGuard.”

That’s about it. There are no player-facing changes that we know of. Given we just got the Y10S2.3 patch this month, don’t expect anything major from today’s patch.

For reference, the patch released earlier this month ushered not only new operators in Dual Front mode, but a bunch of fixes that included the following:

BUG FIXES

GAMEPLAY

  • FIXED – Cannot rappel on a section of the wall located at B3 Exterior, in Dual Front.
  • FIXED – Attackers can rappel through the roof on Outback.
  • FIXED – Players are able to crash ongoing games with Castle’s Armor Panel.

USER EXPERIENCE

  • FIXED – Some surfaces and hatches on the first floor are not removed in Caster Cam view.
  • FIXED – Reload UI remains on HUD for the entire round after canceling the reload animation.
  • FIXED – The Equip and Favorite buttons are missing in the fullscreen victory celebrations view.
  • FIXED – The entire INSPIRATION elite bundle automatically equips after equipping the elite skin on Mira’s Black Mirror gadget during the selection phase.
  • FIXED – The entire PANZERSTARKE elite bundle automatically equips after equipping the elite skin on Blitz’s G52-Tactical Shield during the selection phase.
  • FIXED – The entire MTG MK.II elite bundle automatically equips after equipping the elite skin on Montagne’s Le Roc Shield during the selection phase.
  • FIXED – Bans from the first phase are not displayed when joining a Custom Pro League Playlist match during the second ban phase.

AUDIO

  • FIXED – Sound effects are missing when the 2F Kitchen floor is destroyed by an operator in Dual Front.
  • FIXED – Sound effects don’t play when a drone is destroyed.

No word yet on when the next patch will drop, but once we do, we’ll let our readers know.

Battlefield 6 Already Hit Over Half a Million Wishlists in Just a Week After Reveal

It looks like DICE and EA are already seeing some pretty big positive reactions to the recent Battlefield 6 reveal, as the title has already amassed over 500,000 wishlists on Steam alone.

Furthermore, a significant number of those who added it to their wishlist also played the previous Battlefield game.

Early Reception Bodes Well for EA, DICE, and the Rest of Battlefield Studios

In a post shared by Rickard Linder, CEO & Co-Founder of Alinea Analytics, on LinkedIn, it has been revealed that Battlefield 6 has surpassed 500,000 wishlists on Steam over the past weekend. It became this past week’s top trending title by a fairly large margin on Steam, and according to Alinea Analytics’ data, about 60% of those who wishlisted Battlefield 6, also played Battlefield 2042.

Although last week’s reveal was only for the campaign, the reception for the reveal appears to be going relatively positively for both the publisher and the studios working on Battlefield 6. And mind you, these numbers are strictly for Steam, not accounting for wishlists on the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Network, or the Xbox storefront.

That means that the number of wishlists is likely significantly higher than the 500K reported, which bodes extremely well for the franchise. Of course, wishlisting a game does not guarantee a purchase, though it does show that many probably liked what they’ve seen based on the reveal, at least enough to add it to their list of wanted games.

With the big multiplayer reveal coming up this Thursday, we expect this number to grow even more if everything ultimately meets fan expectations. We’re also expecting pre-orders to open up this week, as EA previously mistakenly leaked that the release would arrive this October.

The big multiplayer reveal is set to take place on July 31, and MP1st wll be at the event, so expect gameplay impressions, footage and a lot more.

Fortnite New Update on July 29 Brings v36.30 via Update 4.77

Fortnite just got a new update, which the developers call v36.30, and this is a massive patch that brings cats into LEGO Fortnite, new Squid Game content, and a slew of fixes.

Console gamers will see this as Fortnite update 4.77, and there’s a lot to take in, so read on for the patch notes and everything new in today’s patch roll out.

Fortnite Update on July 29 Patch Notes for Version 4.77

Overview of New Additions

  • Squid Game Toolset and Templates Are Updated!
  • Voiceover Audio
  • Minigame Mastery and Social Deduction Templates
  • Squid Game Dynamic Team Emotes

Updated Brand Rules

Based on community feedback, the Squid Game Brand and Creator Rules were updated to clarify what is permitted in promotional assets for your islands.

Over 800 New LEGO Styles for NPCs

Expand your LEGO Islands with 882 LEGO Styles for NPCs that were added to this release. Create more relationships and deeper storylines with a wider range of Minifigures. These styles are compatible with the NPC Spawner device.

Property Validation Warnings Becoming Errors in v37.00

As a reminder, starting in v37.00, modifying certain hidden properties from their default values will cause validation errors instead of warnings. Please migrate away from these properties now to avoid errors. If there are any properties that you can’t work around, please let us know in this forum thread.

It is not possible to publish islands with validation errors. As a result, following v37.00, you won’t be able to publish updates to already live islands or publish new islands that use these properties. To resolve the validation errors, you will need to migrate off of the following properties:

  • bVisibleInRealTimeSkyCaptures
  • bReceiveMobileCSMShadows
  • bCastDistanceFieldIndirectShadow
  • bSelfShadowOnly
  • bTreatAsBackgroundForOcclusion
  • CastRaytracedShadows

New Prop Reference Options in UEFN

In UEFN, you can now assign a Prop Mover device directly to a specific prop using the new Prop Reference setting.

To enable this:

  1. In the Details panel, locate the Prop Selection user option.
  2. Click the dropdown, and select From Reference. This makes the Prop Reference option active.
  3. Click the Prop Reference dropdown to select a prop.

This setup is especially useful for precise control when rotating props. The original Overlap behavior remains available, and is still the default option.

New Rotation Options

The Prop Mover device can now rotate props in addition to moving them!

Under the Movement Mode option, you can now choose between Translation and Rotation.

When Rotation is selected, the available options include:

  • Rotation Direction
  • Rotation Axis
  • Rotation Angle
  • Rotation Duration
  • Rotation Pivot Point
  • Rotation Complete Action (corresponds to the Path Complete Action option when Movement Mode is set to Translation)

With the new Rotation Pivot Point setting, you can define the point around which the prop rotates. You can select the prop’s origin point or center, or the Prop Mover’s position, providing more flexibility in how your props animate.

Dynamic Team Emotes

You can now create opportunities for players to join and leave teams dynamically within your Fortnite islands. Using the new Invite to Team emote, players can join forces with another player they’ve encountered in your Island. You can also choose to enable the Leave Team emote for players to dynamically leave a team during a session.

Epic’s Picks Updates!

Several updates to the Epic’s Picks:

  • We added our guidelines for featuring islands, and a policy summary.
  • We listed the Epic’s Picks Three Pillars for selection, the criteria we use to select islands.
  • We outlined the review process to clarify how we determine if your island is eligible for featuring.

To learn more, see Epic’s Picks documentation.

  • Physics Experimental: Fixed for player jump and movements after they join a game in progress.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue in which actions such as restoring an older snapshot could fail without much context. The underlying issue was determined to be connection and/or authentication related. Users will now receive clearer errors when this issue arises.
  • Fixed an issue in which disabling URC could occasionally cause an unclear and indefinite stall if operations were still in flight behind the scenes.
  • Fixed an issue where a checked out actor could not be reverted after subsequently disabling and reenabling revision control.

There’s a lot more to read up on today’s patch, which we suggest players do so on the Fortnite dev portal.

GAMEPLAY AND BALANCING TWEAKS

Assault Ground Pound Damage:

  • Chainsword and Power Sword ground pound damage increased to match Power Fist and Thunder Hammer’s one.

PVE MELEE WEAPONS

Deveeloper Note: With this update we want to rework all of the melee weapon versions. The stats distribution was too complex between different tiers and wasn’t following the same ruleset as firearms, where Relic tier weapons are strictly better than Artificer ones.

This is a massive overhaul and a lot of popular versions may become less effective than they used to be and vice versa. We are going to make another pass at this if necessary, but we think that we need to do a clean up here first to move forward.

PvE Melee Weapon Progression Update

Progression for all melee weapons has been updated to streamline the experience. Relic versions of the melee weapons will now always have better stats than artificer weapons and distribution of the stats is going to follow these principles:

  • Balanced weapons have moderate damage and moderate speed.
  • Fencing weapons offer the fastest speed but have the lowest damage.
  • Block weapons are the slowest but deliver the highest damage.

PVE FIREARM WEAPONS

Developer Note: Our stats show that all of the firearms balance is in a good spot right now and all weapons are Absolute viable. While some of the weapon archetypes are more popular and more effective than the other ones, with this patch we wanted to focus on actual versions’ balance.

Some of the versions within archetype were underpicked and thus we would like to do a big pass on those, obviously. But in addition to that we feel like some of the versions didn’t stand out much from their counterparts. Therefore, we wanted to increase the stats difference to make sure that the choice is more meaningful.

Sony Rejected Tencent’s Offer to Make a Horizon Game, So the Chinese Company Made Their Own and Is Now Getting Sued

Back in November 2024, Tencent announced Light of Motiram, an open-world survival crafting game featuring a red-haired female character wielding a bow in the art, with gameplay showcasing robotic beasts that players would fight against. If that sounds familiar, then you’re not alone, as the game bears a striking resemblance to that of Sony’s own PlayStation IP, Horizon.

It seems that Sony didn’t take too kindly to this announcement, as it has been revealed that they’re now suing Tencent over the new IP, calling it a “slavish clone” of Horizon.

Tencent’s Horizon “Ripoff” Might Have Been Born Out of Rejection

As reported by Reuters, Tencent is being sued by Sony over their upcoming Light of Motiram game. While mechanically, the game functions differently from Horizon, as it places a heavy focus on the open-world survival aspects, including gathering and building structures, along with teaming up with other players to take down large mechanical beasts, it seems Sony believes Tencent has ripped off their Horizon series.

But this is not without a good reason. Beyond the obvious similarities between the characters and monsters, Sony’s filing states that Tencent approached them to collaborate on a new Horizon game last year (2024), but the proposal was rejected. And well, if you can’t join them, then build it yourself is what Tencent ended up having in mind, and months later, they announced Light of Motiram.

Sony claims in the filing that Light of Motiram shares identical gameplay, story themes, and artistic elements from the Horizon series, and has asked the court to award an unspecified amount of monetary damages, as well as an order prohibiting Tencent from infringing on its intellectual property rights.

We honestly can’t say we’re surprised by the news, as many other outlets and community members had assumed this was going to happen, especially since Sony has their own online Horizon game in development. Now, whether Sony has a case against Tencent is up to the courts to decide.

For now, Light of Motiram has no release date, though it is expected to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android.

Delta Force Will Feature Console-Only Crossplay, Studio Hopes for a Performance Mode to Be Added Later This Year

Delta Force’s console release is due to arrive next month, and while there are many questions around these ports, Team Jade has taken the opportunity to clear the air by answering some frequently asked questions.

They revealed plenty about the console versions of Delta Force, including whether players will be able to play with console players only or if they’ll be forced to compete against PC players.

Delta Force’s Biggest Questions About the Console Release Answered

In the latest Ask Shadow Anything posting, Delta Force’s game director, Shadow Guo, revealed some new details about the upcoming console release. Specifically, he shared feedback provided from the recent technical test. He outlined several items that they’re working on addressing, such as the weak aim assist, stiff movement, controller optimization, anti-cheat, and a few other technical details. Perhaps the biggest questions answered were those about how crossplay would work and what the console versions aim for in terms of graphical fidelity and performance.

First up, console players who aren’t too fond of playing with PC players due to how easy cheating is there will be happy to know that Delta Force will offer a console cross-play only option. That means that console players can choose to only matchmake with other console players, and whether you play on the PS5|PS5 Pro or on an Xbox Series X|S, the pools will be shared, minus PC if you want.

Elsewhere, Shadow also confirmed what performance we can expect on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. He says, “We are well aware of the importance of graphic fluency for FPS players. On all platforms, the target frame rate is native 60 FPS. The game will run at 1440P on PlayStation 5 and Series X, and 1080P on Series S.”

Now, for those wondering if there’s a 120Hz mode of sorts, it appears that the game currently won’t launch with one on console, though the possibility is being explored.

Our team is also exploring the possibility of performance mode in a higher frame, hoping to provide it in future updates this year. In addition, we’re also happy to confirm that FoV Slider will be added in the official launch version.”

Oddly, Shadow didn’t mention anything about the PS5 Pro or whether it would have either a higher frame rate or better resolution. We’ll take the lack of mention as an indicator that Delta Force likely doesn’t have any enhancements for the mid-gen refresh.

Outside of other technical answers, it seems Team Jade is also aware of third-party devices that trick games into thinking they’re being played with a controller, when in reality, a mouse and keyboard are being used. They didn’t dive into the details but did say they have some measures in place for each platform and would continue to invest in game security and anti-cheating.

Delta Force arrives on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 19, 2025.

Battlefield 6 Factions Skins Leak Shows Us a Promising Direction

With Call of Duty now featuring literal cartoon skins in the game, any semblance of the franchise being a serious military first-person shooter has been thrown out the window. While there’s a chance Battlefield 6 could follow suit, a recent datamine suggests a promising sign that DICE and EA might be taking a more serious approach.

Bear in mind, the screenshots below are from datamined info, and should not be representative of the final product. That said, the datamined faction skins are a good sign that DICE is going in the right direction.

Early Battlefield 6 Faction Skins Images Is All About Authenticity

The skins have been shared by Reddit user y ZaayKoZ. It showcases some of the different faction skins players can presumably earn (or buy) in the game for the four different classes that will be available.

The good thing about it is that there are no anime, cartoons, or other silliness in their designs. They might not have as much color as Call of Duty’s skins, but for people fed up seeing characters from various entertainment media proliferate in their supposed-to-be authentic (not realistic, but authentic) shooter, I presume this would be OK.

Bear in mind, this doesn’t mean we won’t ever see any goofy-looking skins in the game, as publisher Electronic Arts has surely taken notes on how much Activision has earned from these crossover skins and cosmetics, and will probably want to do the same.

While I’m hoping DICE pushes back on this or at least finds a healthy compromise, I wouldn’t be shocked if we a crossover event announced as part of the game’s live service offering bring in a faction skin from a popular movie, TV show or game. That hasn’t happened yet, and for now, let us take comfort in the fact that DICE’s designs aren’t going after the “big fish” microtransaction spenders.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, the Battlefield 6 reveal trailer gives us a brief look at the game’s story, and how the game is going for a more traditional military first-person shooter vibe.

As someone who has stopped playing Call of Duty multiplayer since it got goofier and goofier, I am really hoping Battlefield 6 won’t fall into the same trap. It’s easier said than done given the amount of money EA is potentially leaving off the table, but for long-term success and growth? Yeah, that’s not the way to go.

Battlefield 6’s multiplayer reveal is set for July 31, and MP1st will have exclusive coverage on gameplay, impressions and more, as we’ll be taking part at the event, so stay tuned.

No official release date has been shared by EA, but signs are pointing to an October release for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (sorry, last-gen owners).

Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of The Rings Game Review – One Meal to Rule Them All

We were given an early opportunity to review this The Lord of the Rings game, Tales of the Shire, Wētā Workshop’s cozy reimagining of Middle-earth. From the moment we set foot in the rolling hills and flower-dappled fields of the Shire, it became clear that this isn’t the Lord of the Rings you’re used to. Gone are the epic battles and perilous quests; in their place, a gentle, slice-of-life experience rooted in crafting, community, and the quiet joys of a Hobbit life.

And while it’s a far cry from the high-stakes drama of Frodo’s journey, that’s precisely the point. Tales of the Shire is a love letter to the quiet moments, to the smell of freshly baked bread and the rustle of wind through trees. It’s Tolkien’s world from the hearth, not the battlefield, and in that space, the game finds something both refreshing and heartfelt.

A Hobbit’s Life for Me

At its core, Tales of the Shire is a peaceful life simulator. You begin by creating your own Hobbit character, with a wide range of cozy customizations from curly hair and rosy cheeks to quaint waistcoats and rustic skirts. After personalizing your appearance, you settle into a humble corner of Bywater, a budding Hobbit village not yet recognized as an official part of Hobbiton. As one of its first settlers, it’s your job to help the community grow both figuratively and literally.

Your home is a charming Hobbit hole that you can freely decorate using a flexible, grid-free placement system. Furniture, wall art, plants, and lighting can all be positioned to your heart’s content, allowing for a space that truly feels like your own. It’s a feature that might feel familiar to fans of Animal Crossing or The Sims, but the warm, organic textures and hand-crafted aesthetic give it a unique Middle-earth flair.

Daily life in Bywater revolves around simple but satisfying activities. You’ll spend your days gardening, fishing, cooking, foraging, and completing tasks for your neighbors. Everything is designed to be low-stress. Crops don’t wither if you forget to water them; fishing is accessible without being tedious; and cooking, arguably the heart of Hobbit culture, is a mini game that strikes a balance between whimsy and depth.

There are no looming threats, no dark lords on the horizon. Instead, the game invites you to embrace a slower rhythm, wake with the sunrise, wander the woods, gather berries, and share a meal. Tales of the Shire doesn’t push you to “win”; it gently encourages you to exist, to engage with the Hobbit community, and to find joy in the ordinary.

Mini Games: More Than Just Filler

What truly gives the game texture are its mini games, each offering a pocket of delight amid your daily routine. Cooking is the most fleshed out of the bunch, feeling almost like a Hobbit-themed Cooking Mama. You gather ingredients from your pantry, which is supplied through your farming, foraging, or trading. Head to the kitchen, then begin combining them with careful timing and interaction to craft meals. The game encourages experimentation, rewarding you with better results when you match flavor profiles or use seasonal ingredients. Hosting meals or “second breakfast” with fellow Hobbits becomes a core method of building relationships and progressing the story.

Fishing is straightforward but pleasingly meditative. Casting a line into the Shire’s clear ponds and reeling the fish in with a small tug of war skill game. Seasonal and time-of-day variations mean you’ll encounter different species depending on when and where you fish, encouraging some light strategy and planning as you fill your larder.

Foraging adds another layer of engagement. You’ll explore flower-strewn glades and mossy woodlands in search of mushrooms, herbs, and wild fruits, all of which can be used in recipes or traded with townsfolk. The experience isn’t particularly complex, but the sense of wandering through the Bywater while plucking ingredients from nature feels rewarding in its own right.

Gardening, meanwhile, keeps things delightfully simple. You can plant and water crops on a daily schedule, and rather than punishing you for forgetting to water them, the game simply lets them grow more slowly. That kind of player-friendly design reinforces the relaxing tone of the entire game. Even failure is softened here, no stress, no loss, just a gentle nudge to stay involved.

One Does Not Simply Share a Meal

Bywater may start quietly, but it grows richer and more alive the more time you spend in it. As you fulfill tasks and build relationships, the village evolves. New buildings appear, new characters arrive, and eventually, the town may even gain recognition as an official village within Hobbiton. This progression isn’t tracked through XP or battle levels, but through relationships, tasks completed, and time spent tending the land.

Tales of the Shire makes excellent use of its time-of-day and seasonal systems. Your days are divided into five distinct phases: Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Evening, and Night, each with its ambient lighting and mood. The shifting weather and changing seasons affect what you can do and find, from blossoming flowers in spring to rare mushrooms in damp autumn forests. The world never feels static, and there’s a genuine incentive to come back each day and see what’s new.

There’s even a club mission system that adds light structure to your routine. These daily and weekly goals might involve catching a certain type of fish, growing a particular crop, or helping out a neighbor. Completing them doesn’t just earn you resources, it helps Bywater inch closer to official village status, a goal that ties into the overarching story without ever becoming overwhelming.

You’ll also meet familiar names from Tolkien’s lore, especially among the Hobbit families. Whether it’s the Boffins, the Proudfeet, or the Tooks, these characters are friendly and often quirky, offering small side tasks and story moments that deepen your connection to the world.

Technical Hiccups

Despite its tranquil pace and charming presentation, Tales of the Shire isn’t free from technical blemishes. On PC, performance is generally stable, though it occasionally dips below 60 FPS even on respectable hardware. While not game-breaking, the lower frame rate can be jarring in an experience that relies heavily on visual atmosphere and immersion.

More serious are the bugs tied to specific actions. One persistent issue occurs when skipping the food-sharing cutscene; doing so often triggers a black screen that requires a hard reset via Alt+F4 (PC version). If you haven’t saved recently, this can be a major frustration, especially in a game designed around slow, steady progress.

The Steam Deck version fares worse. The game isn’t yet well-optimized for handheld play. Players can expect noticeable lag, UI scaling issues, and problems with cloud syncing, particularly when transferring between handheld and desktop sessions. Given how well the game’s format suits portable gaming, this feels like a missed opportunity at launch. Hopefully, future updates will address these concerns.

Verdict

Tales of the Shire is not a revolutionary game, but it doesn’t try to be. It offers something many players crave but seldom find: a quiet place to rest. In a world saturated with high-stakes narratives and sprawling open worlds, Wētā Workshop has created a haven where what matters most is planting a seed, sharing a pie, or watching the rain roll across the hills of Bywater.

The game’s artistic direction is consistently lovely, its characters are endearing, and its systems support a gameplay loop that’s gentle, rewarding, and refreshingly free of stress. Sure, the technical stumbles and slow navigation hold it back from perfection, but they don’t erase what makes the experience special.

Whether you’re a diehard Tolkien fan or simply someone in search of a digital escape, Tales of the Shire delivers a unique and memorable journey, one without peril or prophecy, but full of warmth, food, and friendship. It is, in the truest sense, a Hobbit’s dream.

Score: 7/10

Pros:

  • Beautiful, cozy depiction of the Shire with strong artistic direction
  • Relaxing, low-stress gameplay focused on daily life activities
  • Flexible and satisfying home customization system
  • Engaging mini-games, especially cooking
  • A dynamic world with seasonal changes
  • No punishment for mistakes, reinforcing a calm play style
  • Progression through relationships and community building rather than combat

Cons:

  • Occasional performance drops on PC
  • Game-breaking black screen bug when skipping cutscenes
  • Poor optimization on Steam Deck
  • Slow navigation and occasional UI friction
  • Limited appeal for players seeking action, challenge, or complex systems
  • Gameplay loop may become repetitive over time

Bloober Team’s New Horror IP Cronos: The New Dawn Will Have Multiple Endings That Aren’t Clearly ‘Good’ or ‘Bad'”

Horror fans hoping for a lengthy story out of Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror, Cronos: The New Dawn, will be pleased to hear that game will offer replayability in the form of multiple endings.

While gamers are used to seeing “good” and “bad” endings in games, that won’t be the case with Cronos, as the outcomes are so nuanced that even the studio itself is debating their true moral alignment.

The Endings Will Be Left to You to Interpret

Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn is launching this Fall, and while the studio continues to work on some of the finishing touches, we managed to get a bit of hands-on with it during a preview event this month. Along with our fresh hands-on impressions of the game, which left us feeling rather frightful in all the good ways, we also managed to speak to the team for an exclusive interview.

Among some of our questions were some about the overall structure and what players can expect from the ending.

Or should we say “endings” as one of the confirmations we got was that Cronos: The New Dawn would feature multiple endings for players to earn. While they didn’t reveal to us exactly how these endings are unlocked and how many variants we can expect,  they did hint at the kind of endings that they were aiming for with Cronos in terms of where they sit on the good and evil scale.

“It’s your decision what you think is good or bad with the ending(s) of the game.” Game Director Jacek Zięba told us in our interview, “Even inside the studio, someone will say, ‘Oh, but this one is bad,’ And somebody else will say, ‘No, that’s good.'”

Grzegorz Like, the Lead Writer and Narrative Designer, added, “We really wanted to approach the endings with care and do it more like a discussion. So there’s like arguments behind choosing this and choosing that. With the genre of psychological horror, you don’t want to go with, okay, the “bad” ending or the “good” ending. All things need to be a bit more, say, sophisticated, nuanced, and thought-provoking here.”

Given that the world is set in a post-apocalyptic era, it makes sense to leave the endings a little more ambiguous. A decision that also seems to be working, as evidenced by the fact that even studio members are debating what constitutes a “good” or “bad” outcome.

Will Cronos follow the same path as Bloober’s other game, Silent Hill 2 remake, where some endings are serious, while others are more light-hearted? I guess we’ll have to find out for ourselves when the game releases this fall on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Codemasters has released a new hotfix for F1 25, and while this is a minor update, it still adds something new to the racing sim. Players will see this as F1 25 update version 1.08/1.008, and this adds a new livery to the game.

Alongside the official list of fixes and changes, we’ve also included the list of known issues Codemasters is looking into for the game.

F1 25 New Update on July 28 Applies Hotfix Version 1.08/1.008 and Adds a New Livery

Here’s what got fixed via Codemasters:

  • Added support for the McLaren x Google Chrome Livery (Jul 30 – Sep 16)
  • An improvement has been made to reduce CPU load on certain AI evaluations of race conditions seen in the v1.07 patch (PC Only)

Below are the list of confirmed bugs that Codemasters is investigating, while others are primed to be rolled out in the next update.

INVESTIGATING

  • Audio | Engineer refers to drivers as the wrong names

    • Workaround: When using triple screens, please disable DLSS for the time being. We are being supported by NVIDIA to resolve this problem.
  • Stability | Game crashes on PC
    • ❗Note from Dev: If you are still having issues after following our PC troubleshooting guide, please consider logging a new bug with report codes and as much information as possible. This will allow the team to investigate thoroughly.
    • ❗Note from Dev: Users on AMD Radeon RX 9000 Series graphics cards should update to Adrenaline 25.5.1 drivers.

AWAITING PATCH

  • Planned for later Patch:
    • Tracks | Monaco ‘Two-Stop’ not being applied correctly in certain circumstances
    •  UI | Unable freely to move some OSD elements
    • UI | Time left in session UI appears incorrectly

No word on when we’ll get this necxt patch, but chances are it’ll be sometime in August as part of the game’s monthly updates.

For reference, patch 1.07 was released last week, and it resolves a good number of issues.
