No Man’s Sky New Update 5.074 Implements Recovery for Players Looking for Teleporters During In Stellar Multitudes

Today’s No Man’s Sky update not only fixes bugs and other graphical issues, but it even makes life easier for players who travelled a very long distance from the first purple system generated during  In Stellar Multitudes, who are looking for nearby teleporters to return to (there’s none).

Players on consoles and PC should see this as No Man’s Sky update version 5.074/5.74, which includes a significant number of fixes.

No Man’s Sky Update for July 15 Addresses Player Concerns

  • Fixed an issue that could cause marker icons to be placed incorrectly on Switch 2.

  • Fixed an issue that could prevent the Trace of Metal mission from progressing correctly when multiple settlements were owned in the same solar system.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a “Nothing Found” message to appear if more than one owned settlement was in the tutorial stage.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Sentinel quads to idle instead of attack when spawned at a settlement.
  • Fixed a rare issue which could cause terminals at settlement buildings to be labelled incorrectly.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Implemented a recovery for players who had travelled a very long distance from the first purple system generated during In Stellar Multitudes, and had no nearby teleporter destinations to return to.
  • Fixed an issue that caused mission markers requiring a target sweep to hide themselves prematurely.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Horrific Flesh-Helmet’s eyeball to render incorrectly.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some base parts placed prior to the Beacon update to be incorrectly assigned a weathered material

Expect a string of updates from Hello Games, until we get the next content drop, which usually is sprung without much fanfare.

The Division 2 Down on July 15 for Extended Maintenance to Usher in Y7S1.2

Heads up, agents! Ubisoft has pulled The Division 2 servers down today, July 15, and this is for a longer-than-usual maintenance period. This is to usher in the Y7S1.2 patch that brings fixes for the Battle for Brooklyn DLC, modifier changes and even a new crossover event.

Alongside the maintenance schedule, we also have the patch notes available below, courtesy of the developers.

The Division 2 Downtime on July 15: What You Need to Know

Per Ubisoft, the downtime begins at 9:30 am CEST/3:30 am EDT/12:30 am PDT/3:30 PM HKT. Compared to our usual downtime that lasts for three hours, this maintenance period will run for a total of five hours.

Expect servers to be back up at 2:30 pm CEST/8:30 am EDT/5:30 am PDT/8:30 pm HKT. Of course, there is a chance that maintenance is extended, so don’t be surprised if online services aren’t back up at that time.

PS5 System Update for July 15 Brings It to Version 25.05-11.60.00.05

Sony has sprung a surprise firmware update for the PS5 this July 15 (still July 14 if you’re living in the West Coast), and this is a minor patch.

Console owners will see appear as PS5 update version 25.05-11.60.00.05, and it clocks in at 1.34 GB. Given there’s no previous announcement or fanfare behind it, don’t expect anything major from the console update.

PS5 Firmware Update to Version 25.05-11.60.00.05 This July 2025

PS5 Pro PS4 Pro Sales

According to Sony, the latest change made with sysmte update 25.05-11.60.00 is the following:

  • We’ve improved system software performance and stability

We can’t get enough of that system stability! After applying the patch, your console should be more stable. All kidding aside, we received a system patch last month that improved messaging, and one in April that brought back classic themes. Chances are, if Sony is rolling out new features, we’ll hear about it first before it’s released out into the wild.

Sony has also mentioned that they have launched the Beta Program for PlayStation, which will also see PC players participate. This will enable participants to test out new features, enhancements for the PlayStation App and more. If you haven’t heard of it, you can sign up for the program, though there’s no guarantee you’ll be selected.

In the latest news about the PS5, we recently posted concept art of now-defunct Deviation Games’ PS5 shooter project.

Nintendo Switch Latest Update 20.2.0 Fixes Parental Control Issue

Nintendo has released the latest firmware update for the original Switch, and this is more than your standard stability patch. While there are no new features introduced, the system update is to fix a Parental Control settings bug that from the Switch to the Switch 2.

Gamers should see it appear as Switch system update 20.2.0, with more details available below via the official patch notes.

Nintendo Switch System Update 20.2.0 Fixes Parental Control Bug

Nintendo Switch System Update 19.0.0

Here’s what’s new per Nintendo:

  • Fixed an issue where Parental Control settings were not transferred from Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2 in certain circumstances during a system transfer.
  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.

Given we’re at the tailend of the console’s lifecycle, don’t expect a lot of new features for it, though Nintendo is far from abandoning the console since a of Switch 2 games are still compatible with the older console.

When discussing the Switch 2, Nintendo stated that they plan for the new console to last as long as the original Switch, which means they’re targeting a lifecycle of at least eight years. Given the console was released in 2017 and is still receiving games and support to this day, this is a reasonable expectation. If Nintendo sticks to their word, the Switch 2 will be supported until 2032, which is insane to even think about now.

Report: Concept Art Emerges for Deviation Games’ Cancelled PS5 Shooter

PlayStation’s recent gaming output has been significantly marked by numerous unsuccessful attempts to establish live service titles. The company greenlit more than ten such projects, most of which were eventually terminated for one reason or another. Among these was a collaboration with Deviation Games, a studio newly formed in 2020 by veterans of the Call of Duty franchise.

A year after its founding, the studio announced that a new IP was being developed in collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment for an exclusive PS5 title.

Unfortunately for the project, within another year, reports emerged that Jason Blundell, a co-founder and COD veteran, would be departing the studio. This immediately cast doubt on the game’s future, and fears were confirmed in 2023 when industry insider Colin Moriarty reported the cancellation of the studio’s debut title. Adding a final nail to the coffin, last year saw Deviation endure a round of layoffs that ultimately culminated in the developer’s complete closure.

Throughout its development cycle, no official details of the project were ever released, except that it was a new IP. However, rumors indicated it would have been a multiplayer shooter, an unsurprising fact considering the team’s background with the COD franchise. Now, two years after the title’s cancellation, we can confirm these rumors, as we have discovered several pieces of concept art detailing the game’s aesthetic, and offering a glimpse at the weapons we could have wielded in-game.

Deviation Games’ Cancelled Shooter Unearthed

These illustrations originate from the portfolio of an artist who worked at Deviation Games. A 2020 timestamp found in one of the file names suggests they were created during an early conceptualization phase of the game. Upon viewing the concept art, it’s immediately apparent that the game would have been set within a futuristic sci-fi genre, as denoted by the weapon designs and the cosmic illustration, which, according to its file name, was conceived as a concept for a start screen.

The majority of the images feature various weapons, including pistols, rifles, and even a futuristic gauntlet labeled “Power Glove.” Notably, some weapons, like the pistols, appear with two different cosmetic variants. It’s also worth noting the highly detailed diagrams for these weapons, which might have indicated a planned high degree of customization for each. We also see a design for a character named “Berserker,” who we presume was intended as a playable class. This leads us to consider whether the game might have leaned into a hero-shooter model, much like the approach attempted by the short-lived Concord.

While it’s certain we’ll never see this game finished, a very similar vision might yet come to fruition. Not long after he departed from Deviation, it was reported that Jason Blundell was establishing a new PlayStation studio, bringing along some of the former Deviation team. This was officially confirmed in March of this year with the announcement of Dark Outlaw Games. Still, fans of the shooter genre will have to wait a considerable amount of time before seeing any official reveals from this new studio.

Pacific Drive’s latest update, which Ironwood Studios calls hotfix 1.9.4 slots in changes to some settings, fixes a good number of bugs, and more.

Console gamers will see this Pacific Drive update as version 1.009.004, although don’t expect it to fix every known issue the game currently suffers from.

Pacific Drive New Update 1.009.004/1.9.4 Brings Not Just Fixes But Even Changes

Version 1.9.4 – Highlights

  • The sink, toilet, and hand dryer are functional at Oppy’s Garage!
  • The Z.E.T.I. device upgrade issue has been fixed during the introductions to Expeditions quest line, when presented by Francis in the garage.
  • We have moved several gameplay options to the accessibility section of the pause menu – this means that they are universal, and will be applied across all saves as well as available in the Expeditions game mode. Check below for more details.

Bugs and UX Fixes

The following options have been moved to the Accessibility section of the settings menu, which applies them universally to all save slots and game modes like Expeditions:

    • Pausing the game while in menus
    • Easy Ignition
    • Equipped Part Swapping

  • The Garage bathroom fixtures are fully functional once again – the sink, toilet, and hand dryer are all usable after resuming from a save or map reload
  • Fixed an issue where the Spike Strip and Spike Log Anomalies would unintentionally deal far too much damage to the player when the car dropped below its protection threshold
  • Fixed issue where subtitles would be shown twice during gameplay
  • Fixed an issue where retrieving items from a Burr using the Thermal Vacuum could cause them to fall under the world
  • Driver entrance to car animation has been fixed – no longer possible to crouch repeatedly, triggering physics obliteration of the car

For the list of known issues still currently being worked on, head on over here.

Minecraft Update 3.16 for Bedrock Version 1.21.93/94 Applies Fixes

Mojang has rolled out a two-for-one patch for Minecraft today, July 14, and it’s out on all platforms. Called Bedrock patch version 1.21.93/94, console gamers will see this as Minecraft update 3.16, which applies a fix.

Given the small size of today’s hotfix, we’ve included details on the previous patch, which added a new music disc and more importantly, split-screen players on PlayStation and Switch can now access their player data created in 1.21.80 and earlier.

For the complete patch notes, head below.

Minecraft’s New Update for July 14 Applies Patch 3.16

Another small hotfix (1.21.94) is being rolled out.

  • Fixed an issue that caused entities in some Marketplace packs to revert to their vanilla behaviors

Here are the latest round of fixes rolled out that fix issues associated with the 1.21.90 content drop.

    • Boats once again retain momentum when moving off ledges

User Interface

  • Fixed issue where the player was not able to move the camera while using the interact buttons on touch devices (MCPE-220353)

Technical Updates

API

  • Added a new condition passenger_of_entity that allows checking which vehicle entity type is being ridden by the damaged entity that is dropping loot
    • Like damaged_by_entity, allows specifying an entity_type field to check against when deciding which entry in a loot table to select
  • Added a new condition is_baby that allows checking if the entity that is dropping loot is a baby

That’s about it. Once another one is released by Mojang, expect it here on MP1st.

Rematch Review – Rocket Feet

The FC series, formerly known as FIFA, has reigned supreme in the realm of soccer/futbol video games for years now, with competitors moving to free-to-play or dying off entirely. Coming from an unlikely source, Sifu and Absolver developer Sloclap has entered the tournament with a new online-only third-person soccer game, Rematch.

If you think that transitioning from developing brawlers to a soccer arcade game is one bold move by the developer, it even bucks another trend by releasing it as a premium (read: paid) product instead of opting to release it as a free-to-play game.

A Whole New Perspective

As with all soccer or futbol matches, the win condition is to score goals, and you take control of your singular player on the pitch from a third-person perspective with that intention in mind. Once the ball is dropped to one of the teams and put into play, the action becomes absolutely frantic from that point forward. When you do not have the ball in your possession, you must either play defense or put yourself in a better offensive position to receive a pass from your teammate.

Without the ball, your player can use a limited speed boost, including an even faster boost that has a cooldown timer before it can be used again. If on defense, you should be trying to slide and take control of the ball from the opponent, unless you are the goalkeeper, who should be staying around the goal. That being said, I played in numerous games where the rotating goalkeeper would stray away from the goal and end up having everyone on offense at once, with the vulnerability being that no one was guarding the goalkeeper. Having your team strategize on the fly like this was cool, but also could be really frustrating when teammates were not playing their designated roles, and it would cost you a game.

There are a few different types of shots that you can take, including a basic one or even a volley shot that can be really helpful to get around the goalkeeper. The shot types and action themselves really play into the arcade-style setup of the game compared to other games in the sport that are trying to be more realistic. Making this even crazier is the fact that the arenas themselves are giant boxes with barriers that the ball will always bounce off of rather than go out of bounds. This not only keeps the action going continuously, but also leads to some crazy bounces off the wall that can be parlayed into creative goal scoring. Aspects of the game like this are why it’s so easy to make comparisons to a game like Rocket League, as it harnesses that DNA where you feel like anything can happen at any point, though this time, you’re just it with your feet instead of a car.

Rematch eschews a realistic design for the environments and character models, instead opting for a more animated and almost cel-shaded approach in some ways. This works quite well for the game, as it never has to worry about outputting high-level visuals, but still manages to showcase itself in other unique ways due to the more colorful lighting and other visual effects found throughout the game.

Rather than throwing you straight to the wolves online, Rematch starts by giving you a quick offline tutorial that shows you the ropes in the game. This includes how to pay both offense and defense, although it isn’t particularly complex. After making your way through the short tutorial, you can then go into Practice mode and take part in a series of additional tutorials. These are a little more advanced than the ones in the initial opening section, so it’s well worth playing through these to fully prepare yourself for online play. If you really want to master your skills before going online, there are also seven Workshops that you can take part in, which are just mini-games based on movement, defense, passing, scoring, and goalkeeping, where you are ranked based on how you perform with an up to a three-star rating.

As of the launch of Rematch in what is known as Season 0, Rematch definitely feels pretty bare bones when it comes to content and options, as all you have available to choose from are Quick Match, Ranked Match and Custom Match besides the aforementioned Practice and the ability to replay the tutorial again if you need a refresher.

Quick Match has three options for you to pick between: 3 vs. 3, 4 vs. 4, and 5 vs. 5. The game describes 3 vs. 3 as the best option to hone your skills and then build your way towards 4 vs. 4 and 5 vs. 5. Quick matches are six minutes long and play into the game’s pick-up and playability. As stated previously, the controls are overall pretty basic and nowhere near as intricate as those of some of its competitors, which plays into the more casual approach at the start. However, as we’ve seen with games like Rocket League, games with what seem like pretty simple controls can really get crazy competitive and skill-based as players play more.

The real competition in Rematch comes after you reach level 5, which unlocks Ranked Match 5 vs. 5 in the game. Depending on how successful your team is, this may actually take a bit of time to level up and obtain, but that time serves well as a training ground to prepare you for much harsher competition that will appear in ranked play.

Rematch is very different from the likes of games such as EA Sports FC since the gameplay is much more streamlined. Whether you are playing on a team of three, four, or five, you and your teammates will rotate positions on the field throughout the match, with the game automatically rotating after each scored goal. If someone is dead set on being a goalkeeper, you can still swap roles mid-game, but this is something that would likely only come with playing with friends or using voice chat at the bare minimum. There are messages you can quickly say in the middle of a match, but they are very minimal, and it’s hard to use them fully to strategize on the fly, especially if it’s a team of random players with no synergy.

There are no worries about committing fouls or being offside during the match, either; the focus is on intense action throughout the entire six-minute match. Since there are no fouls or stoppages, there are no extra time mechanics built in here, though once time expires, the team with control of the ball at the time gets one last shot. The only time a game will go longer than the usual six minutes is if the game is a tie at the end of regulation. Rematch also has a mercy rule built in with a default of a four-goal difference, so a game may end much quicker if your team is getting destroyed.

As with any online-only team-based game, your experience is always going to rely on your teammates. The game has a level system based on XP where you continually level up, but there’s still going to be lopsided matchups at times, regardless, especially if there are not enough players online to matchmake with. During my time with the game, I often had to wait a while to find a match, so this could be a potential issue if the player base continues to dwindle, especially since crossplay isn’t available yet.

There aren’t that many stadiums to play in at this point, but I did quite enjoy the design of how they were set up. You are placed in an arena within the stadium where both you and the ball can bounce off the boundaries rather than go outside of them. The actual background stadium can transport you underwater, into a forest, and more, which adds significantly to the overall aesthetic. In a way, the design reminded me of not only Rocket League but also, in some ways, of the way that Blitzball looked in Final Fantasy X back in the day. Adding additional stadiums over time will be nice to make things feel different, even if the majority of the action takes place on the pitch itself.

Like many games that follow a similar model to Rematch, a Season Pass is available for purchase, known here as the Captain Pass. If you purchased Pro or Elite editions, you will have one or two free pass unlocks that you can use, but base game purchasers will have to spend money to get the pass here. There is a free battle pass for each season that you can unlock items for, but the Captain Pass will reward you with additional items. The battle pass includes various cosmetics for your player, including shoes, hats, as well as other unlockables, or either of the two in-game currencies.

Rematch features two types of currency in-game, known as Blocks and Quants. Blocks can only be earned in the game, while Quants can be purchased through the respective platform store, like the PlayStation Store, so you will have to get used to figuring out the cost of items in one currency versus the other within the in-game store. The in-game store features a variety of rotating cosmetics, allowing you to purchase individual items or bundles. For instance, Season 0 features the Bundle Ronaldinho, available for 1,000 Quants, which you can buy. However, the bundles can only be purchased with Quants, which is pretty annoying.

Between any cosmetics earned in-game or purchased, you can edit your player from the main menu under customization. This plays a much larger role than it would in, say, an FC game, as you are playing from a third-person perspective focused on one character compared to the full team. The customization options include Special Skin, Body, Equipment, Celebrations, and Home/Away. Special Skin are as they sound, where it changes your player to be based on a specific player. The more general customizations otherwise let you adjust things like body type, voice, and even if you have a prosthetic arm or leg, which is a unique addition. You can also set celebrations and stadiums for your player as well.

Rematch is entirely built on the idea of online competition between players and will undoubtedly be reliant on a consistent player base moving forward. Unfortunately, I was already having trouble and had to wait longer than I felt I should have to find a match this soon after the release. On the plus side, the matches themselves are intense and can be a lot of fun, albeit with a bit of frustration built in depending on your teammates. The fact that there is no real content besides the online matches themselves, though, could prove to be a major problem, but hopefully the developer can build upon what is offered in future seasons to attract a larger player base that will stick around, or otherwise, Rematch may be knocked out prematurely.

Score: 7.5/10

Pros:

  • Fast-paced action.
  • Arcade feel sets gameplay apart from the competition.
  • No out-of-bounds or fouls, which make for interesting plays.
  • Cool stadium locales.

Cons:

  • Minimal overall content.
  • Mileage may vary depending on teammates.
  • Sometimes, I struggled to find matches already. It could be a matchmaking bug or an early sign of player pool.

Rematch was provided by the publisher. You can read MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.

Overwatch 2 Dev Says Competition Is Healthy, But Current Direction Isn’t a Reaction to Marvel Rivals

In the past few years since it was released, Overwatch has become a titan in the hero shooter genre, with multiple would-be foes failing to stand up to the game. That changed with the introduction of NetEase’s Marvel Rivals last year.

The free-to-play hero shooter based on the Marvel universe has taken the hero crown from Overwatch 2, and given its stranglehold on players, that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon.

Seemingly in response to this, Blizzard Entertainment has essentially shaken up Overwatch 2 by introducing the new Stadium mode, the addition of perks, and more.

But these changes, according to Blizzard, aren’t a response to Marvel Rivals at all.

Overwatch 2 Game Director Comments on Marvel Rivals and How Competition Is “Healthy”

Overwatch 2 Update 3.75

Speaking to YouTuber Jay3, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller was asked what he thought of Marvel Rivals and whether the competition was healthy. Jay3 compared it to wrestling, and how WCW made WWE (known as WWF back then) a better product since it knew it had to step its game up in order to wrestle (heh) people away from the competition.

Keller responded, “I’ve got like a’ yes/no’ to that or a ‘no/yes’ to that. I think that competition is healthy. it force people to innovate more, and to always be putting your best foot forward. But I don’t think that’s what you’re seeing from Overwatch right now is a response to Rivals. So much of what we were doing this year from perks, to Stadium, to map voting, we did pull hero bans forward a season or two. But so much of what we were doing, and all the heroes we’re releasing that’s been in the works for over a year. Like a new strategy for the game, to always kick this thing off, to have a big annual kick off to the year, yeah I can see that. Even though maybe it’s not always the most comfortable for the game team. I can see how the competition’s healthy, but where we’re right now isn’t necessarily from that, but it could be that as we start getting further and further, maybe people see even bigger things out of the team in order for us to be competing.”

Ultimately, the winner out of all this are the gamers. Both games need to step their game up, lest one side gets fed up and moves to the other game. Hopefully, Overwatch 2’s evolution will continue to help retain its existing player base and even attract new players.

Do you think Overwatch 2 became a better game because of Marvel Rivals? Sound off in the comments below.

Report: Square Enix Developing Dragon Quest VII Remake, Planned for Release in 2026

Following the success of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Square Enix looks to re-release another entry in the franchise.

MP1st has learned that Square Enix is currently developing a remake of Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, the beloved 2000 classic originally released for the first PlayStation. This information comes from internal documents we’ve seen that outline several upcoming projects tied to the publisher’s top franchises, all scheduled for this fiscal year or early next year.

The key word here is “remake”—and that’s exactly how it’s labeled internally. This distinction is crucial, as Square Enix has previously referred to other updated Dragon Quest titles (such as Dragon Quest III, IV, and the upcoming I & II) as HD Remakes. The explicit use of the term remake strongly suggests a more ambitious reimagining of Dragon Quest VII than a simple graphical upgrade.

Dragon Quest 7 Re-release Not Just a Remaster

While the full scale of the remake remains unknown at this point, the fact that the company itself refers to it as a remake (and not a remaster) speaks volumes. Square Enix typically reserves that terminology for projects involving significant changes—whether in visuals, gameplay, or structure—rather than for 1:1 ports with visual polish.

Fans will recall that Dragon Quest VII was later re-released on the Nintendo 3DS with updated visuals and various improvements, and was generally well received; however, the version currently in development appears to go well beyond that effort.

Target Release Window: Q4 FY26 or Early FY27

Editorial Note: Header updated with correct fiscal year, as Square Enix is currently in Fiscal Year 2026, with quarter four ending in March 2027. FY27 begins March 31, 2026, and runs until March 31, 2027.

According to the document, the Dragon Quest VII Remake is one of the final titles slated for release in this internal roadmap. The current plan is for the game to launch in the last quarter of the current fiscal year or at the very beginning of the next, meaning the plan is to launch in early 2026 at the latest, earliest (Square Enix’s current Fiscal year ends in March 2026) if things remain on track. This positions it as a potential major closing title for Square Enix’s fiscal calendar, or an early tentpole for the next.

I also had the chance to view a brief teaser showing the game’s logo against a cloudy background, a minimalist but evocative reveal, likely intended for internal use or future marketing material.

The latest Dragon Quest game launched by Square Enix was the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, released last year. We were blown away at this remake, and said in our review, “Whether it’s taking down hordes of Slimes or fighting to save the world, there is always something magical about Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake showcases why it is still one of the best entries in the series more than 36 years after its initial release.”

Stay tuned to MP1st for more on this developing story as we learn more about Square Enix’s remake plans and what fans can expect from this return to a JRPG classic.

New Battlefield Game “Training,” “Signature Traits” and “Signature Weapons” Explained

DICE has issued an all-new community labs update, once again focusing on key areas around the class systems. Although they’ve heard feedback from fans wanting classes to restrict the types of weapons they can use, it appears DICE is still committed to tuning the current system.

That’s not to say things won’t change later, as they do offer a bit of hope, by saying that some changes take time, and even require new tools to be created. But in the meantime, they’ve gone and explained some of the new mechanics that have been rolling out to Battlefield Labs testers that focus more on class identity.

DICE Is Putting a Big Focus on Class Identity With New Mechanics

As shared on X, DICE is continuing its focus on the class system for the upcoming Battlefield game, by introducing and testing new features and mechanics, as well as gathering feedback around said tests to help them improve and build a better class system. The goal is to have players to recognize and intuitively feel the unique identities of each class, and they’ve outlined some of the ways they plan on doing do that in the post, which are broken down into four categories:

  • Customizable: Training
    • Level 0: Passive benefit available upon immediate selection of the Training Path.
    • Levels 1 and 2: Enhanced benefit aimed at improving your selected role. Only earnable through teamplay progression and score XP.
    • Level 3: Is a one-time use ability that you manually activate and either benefits yourself, your team, or your situation in the match.
    • In Recon’s case, it is the ability to call in a damageable UAV to a marked position for passive spotting. Upon activation, you will need to continue working with your team to make sufficient progress to use it again.
  • Class-Defining: Signature Weapon – Although weapons aren’t locked to classes (for now at least), using a specific weapon for each class does grant some benefits.
    • Assault & Assault Rifles – Assault is the ultimate infantry fighter, responsible for leading the charge and responding to situations as and when they arise. Using an Assault Rifle with this Class will result in faster transitions from sprint to shoot and switching between Assault Rifles and other weapons.
    • Engineer & Sub Machine Guns – Engineers are positioned for destruction and repair at all costs, which means getting up close and dirty while on the battlefield. You’ll benefit from improved hip-fire control when using SMG’s.
    • Support & Light Machine Guns – Being used to heavy fire situations and being in the midst of chaos, Support are experienced with heavy gear, and as they lay down fire with Light Machine Guns they will not suffer from sprint speed penalties like other Classes would if they were to use the same weapon.
    • Recon & Sniper Rifles – Scope sway will be decreased, and the ability to stabilize your aim by holding your breath improves with the use of Sniper Rifles. Being highly proficient with Sniper Rifles will allow for Recon to be faster at rechambering between shots too!
  • Class-Defining: Signature Trait – These are unique bonuses for each class.
    • Assault – Enhanced Mobility. We’re currently looking at providing this class with reduced fall damage and no movement speed penalty that results from a fall. Combined with other Class-defining elements, such as Training, it aims to place emphasis on Assault being the tip of the spear class and utilizes mobility as its key strength.
    • Engineer – Explosive Damage Resistance. While Assault is all about leading the charge in infantry combat, the Engineer is the only Class capable of repairing and dealing significant damage to vehicles. You’re in highly explosive situations here, and we’re theming this trait around that.
We’re currently providing a reduction to damage from explosions as the Signature Trait, and we’ll be assessing within Battlefield Labs if that difference is felt between the different Classes and what the right level of balance should be for a passive resistance increase (or decrease!)
    • Support – Faster Revive. Support is designed to be every squad’s essential choice for defense and sustained combat. Our focus for this Class was to enhance the importance of reviving, protecting, and supplying teammates, enabling them to rejoin the fight quickly.
Currently, the Signature Trait for Support allows faster reviving when stationary. We’re using the time with our community in Battlefield Labs to monitor your feedback on the Support class and the evolving expectations of Support’s role, and identify the best aspects of this role to elevate further.
    • Recon – Aim Spotting. We currently have Recon’s Signature Trait as the ability to spot enemies while aiming down sight automatically. This is a Signature Trait that we are actively seeking feedback on within Battlefield Labs and are continually improving.
  • Class-Defining: Signature Gadget – Finally gadgets, which will have zero overlapping between the classes.
    • Assault – Adrenaline Injector. We’re equipping the Assault class with an Adrenaline Injector that grants resistance to flash and stun effects, enhances sprint speed, reduces explosive damage, and amplifies enemy footsteps for a brief period.
Battlefield Labs has already gathered substantial feedback on the Adrenaline Injector, which we’re already taking on board for the future to ensure it’s balanced across classes. For more details, check out the Learnings from the Labs section!
Engineer – Repair Tool. Whereas in the past, the Repair Tool has sometimes been a choice between using it or sacrificing it for something more aggressive. Going forward, the Repair Tool will always be available to you, so there really is no excuse for you not to repair your squad’s vehicle, right?
    • Support – Supply Bag. Whenever you see a Supply Bag on the ground, you will now know that this item is capable of either healing you or providing you with a certain amount of ammo, and Support will be the class responsible for this.
We are currently working through the balance of this gadget through Battlefield Labs, and defining how much health or ammo you should receive, what the optimal range should be, and spam prevention.
    • Recon – Motion Sensor. Whether you’re a Sniper or a Pathfinder in either a defensive or aggressive position, the motion sensor is useful for tracking enemy movement within its limited range. As a Recon, it’s essential to have this tool readily available to perform at your best, making it an excellent choice for your Signature Gadget.

Now it’s important to stress here that what is being tested in Battlefield Labs does not mean it’s making it in the new game. DICE continues to be open about taking feedback into consideration, and they shared plenty of player feedback and how they plan on addressing it in the post. One example they gave was Ballistic Armor, and how many players during the alpha tests were so against it. It’s been removed from the multiplayer modes (again for now), but that does tell you that not everything you see or hear coming out of Labs will make the cut.

However, it remains to be seen whether the class system will ultimately lock weapons or if the new system will prove effective and popular among players. Guess we’ll have to continue waiting it out until the full reveal of the next Battlefield game, which is currently set to happen sometime this Summer.

In other news about Battlefield, the BF Labs client got updated with a “Battlefield 6 Open Beta” code, which leads some people to believe an open test will be announced soon.
