Call of Duty Warzone and Vanguard Crossover Promotions Have Begun

It looks like hints of a new Call of Duty Warzone live event are starting to appear, as a mysterious World War II-looking character is appearing at the end of matches in Warzone! Similar to Black Ops Cold War before it was officially revealed, it seems the Call of Duty Warzone and Vanguard crossover promotions are underway!

For the many who hopped onto Warzone yesterday to enjoy all the new Season 5 content, you may have noticed a rather unexpected surprise during the end match cinematic. While Activision has recently started to release small snippets of what appears to be a live-action teaser for Call of Duty Vanguard, It would also seem that they have begun their marketing for the title in Warzone.

For those lucky enough to win a battle royale match, You will notice that the victory cinematic plays out a bit differently.

Right at the moment when all the players begin to propel up to the helicopter the very last one who is going up is seemingly shot down. The camera then pans and cuts away to a female sniper dressed in World War II attire.

No doubt, this is for Call of Duty Vanguard, and if it’s anything like the Black Ops Cold War event for Warzone from last year, than this is only just the beginning. We expect to see plenty of more surprises leading up to the full Vanguard reveal later this month.

The marketing for Call of Duty Vanguard hasn’t just started in Warzone, as Activision has been sending content creators COD Vanguard teasers via direct messages.

Report: Guilty Gear Strive Second DLC Character Leaks Online

Looks like Guilty Gear fans who are looking forward to the next downloadable character reveal might get their surprise ruined by the internet, as the identity of Guilty Gear Strive second DLC character leaks online — and it’s someone familiar to veterans of the series.

Naturally this hasn’t been officially revealed or confirmed by Arc System Works, so consider this a spoiler and stray away. Otherwise, here’s the reveal courtesy of a Reddit post.

so jack-o’ got leaked here? it looks legit
byu/Elite123x inKappa

Returning from past Guilty Gear games is Jack-O’ Valentine, a character well known the longtime players of the saga as her role in the series has evolved as the story progressed. Here’s her background as listed in the Guilty Gear wiki.

Jack-O’ Valentine is a character in the Guilty Gear series. She was one of the three servants of That Man, alongside Raven and I-No. Her past is shrouded in mystery, and her own memories are vague. Because her awakening remains incomplete, she can’t function without her mask and candy.

Last time we talked about Guilty Gear Strive’s possible upcoming DLC fighters, datamining suggested that verterans Baiken and Slayer would be part of the Season 1 line-up, — and you can read the details about that here.

Guilty Gear Strive  is now available for PS4, PS5, and PC!

Battlefield 2042 PS5 Tech Test Cancelled; Cites “Critical Issue Identified”

While those on PC are already playing Battlefield 2042’s Tech Test, it seems Xbox gamers will be the lone console who’ll be able to experience it before the beta begins, as the Battlefield 2042 PS5 Tech Test has been officially cancelled!

Those who were invited, and managed to get in, you should be receiving an email like the one pictured below. It mentions of a “critical issue identified” as the main cause of the Battlefield 2042 PS5 Tech Test cancellation. Check out the image in full sent over to MP1st:

That’s a bummer. Thankfully, there is a beta incoming next month for all platforms which includes PS4 and PS5. Speaking of the Tech Test, loads of info has surfaced for it so far! Not only have we posted loads of gameplay from the PC version, but we also posted a lot of info about it straight from those who played it. Having said that, remember: the impressions are from an earlier build, and as such, don’t treat or look at it as the final version of BF2042.

Battlefield 2042 will be released this October 22 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

If you have a news tip, you can reach us by sending us an email (tips@mp1st.com).

Watch the Abandoned Trailer in “Full” Here; Lists More Teases Incoming Including a Gameplay Demo

After so much hype and controversy, Blue Box Game Studios has finally updated the Abandond trailer app on PS5, and it shows…something old, and anti-climatic. Honestly, this has to be one of the most disappointing things anyone could have hyped up so far. It’s essentially the Twitter teaser.

Want to see it in full? Well, here ya go:

However, the end of the “teaser,” there is a little bit more to chew on, and it’s MORE teases! There are three more trailers planned, and two gameplay demos! If it’s anything like this first one, expect it to be drawn out. Here’s the sceenshot players will see on their PS5 Abandoned app:

Yep, that’s about it. Is this Hideo Kojima? Is this connected to Silent Hill? Metal Gear? I honestly have no clue, and I doubt I’m the only one who’s patience is running thin. If this is really a game, perhaps show us what makes it a game instead of drawn out teases? But that could just be me.

Will you look forward to more Abandoned teases? Let us know your thoughts below.

Battlefield 2042 Irish Specialist Abilities and Profile Revealed

With yesterday’s Battlefield 2042 standalone short film Exodus, not only did DICE feature a campaign-like story for multiplayer, but we also got to see Battlefield 4’s Irish come back as a Specialist! If you’re curious what he can do on the battlefield, DICE has revealed the Battlefield 2042 Irish Specialist Abilities and character profile.

Battlefield 2042 Irish Specialist Abilities and Profile:

Battlefield Briefing_ The World of 2042 - Kimble 'Irish' Graves

Battlefield™ 4’s Kimble “Irish” Graves returns in 2042 as one of the prominent leaders of the multi-factioned No-Pats and as a playable Specialist. Michael K. Williams, the original actor for Irish in Battlefield 4, has also returned to help bring the character to life once more.

In Battlefield 2042, Irish finds himself at a crossroads with the mysterious Oz, another leader amongst the No-Pats. Irish wishes to tend to his people and keep them out of wars fought by the superpowers of the world. Oz stokes the flames of war, believing that the old world must burn for the new one to be born.

Irish, as the leader of one of the groups of No-Pats, gives commands and expects them to be followed without question. He’s a man who’s been hardened by great loss who chooses to pay his respect to the fallen by using his skills to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves.

Class: Engineer
Specialty: Fortification System
Trait: Veteran

As an Engineer, Irish is a great asset to any team. His specialty is the Fortification System, which allows him to place two separate items into the world – the DCS Deployable Cover and APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel.

DCS Deployable cover

You can place the cover on nearly any flat surface, creating a small protective barrier that allows your allies to see out through its bulletproof glass. This barrier can protect you and allies from incoming fire until its health pool is depleted.  As Irish, you can place multiple covers on a map.

Need to revive someone? Protect yourself against a sniper attack in the open? Hold the capture point for just a few more precious seconds? Using multiple covers, you can create your own small outposts to help you buy time. Obtaining some medical and ammo crates and teaming up with Boris and his SG-36 Sentry Gun will allow you to build your own castle-like fort.

APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel

The APS-36 is a rocket’s worst nightmare. Once placed into the world on nearly any flat surface, it eliminates incoming explosive projectiles within proximity (grenades, rockets, etc), turning a once deadly weapon into a puff of smoke.

Placing the APS-36 next to a vehicle will give it automatic protection from incoming missiles while placing it behind cover can force the enemy to reposition in their attack. But beware: an EMP or savvy hack attack can put the system out of action.

Veteran

Irish’s Veteran trait allows him to dig in and stay alive. He will always spawn with a small amount of body armor that can be replenished whenever he collects dropped ammo packs from defeated foes.

There are more Specialists set to be revealed, and we’re hoping we’ll see some familiar faces be featured once again.

Back 4 Blood Beta Known Issues and Workarounds Listed

Looks like Turtle Rock Studios test run for their upcoming first person shooter has gotten some much needed feedback, as the Back 4 Blood beta’s known issues and workarounds have been listed — giving fans some answers to frequently asked questions and troubleshooting if applicable!

Here’s the common issues and workarounds that have been found in the Beta test so far.

COMMON ISSUES AND WORKAROUNDS (IF AVAILABLE)

  1. The bots in my game get stuck on the minigun.

    • We’re investigating this issue; we will address it before launch!
  2. Bots do not assist the player in certain situations.

    • We know of several bugs causing bots to not assist players if they get pinned by special Ridden. We are actively working to roll out improvements to bot behaviors at launch.
  3. I get kicked back to Fort Hope while I’m in Blue Dog Hollow: The Sound of Thunder.

    • This may have been due to a server crash we deployed a fix for; most instances of this should now be addressed.
  4. Disconnected from the server/when joining a party match.

    • We fixed an issue server-side that should address most instances of this.
  5. I can’t join my friends/we’re experiencing crossplay issues.

    • Please ensure everyone in your party has the same crossplay settings enabled (all on or all off).
  6. How do I change my display name?

    • Players are not able to change their display name at this time.
  7. I can’t drop my weapon attachments.

    • Players are not able to drop attachments from their weapons at this time.
  8. Guns sometimes double fire.

    • We are aware of the issue and will fix this for launch.
  9. Names of players to be rescued are displayed as bots.

    • We are aware of the issue and will fix this for launch. Rest assured it is still your same party member you need to rescue, even if the display name shows differently.
  10. I’m getting a TRS Online Platform error.

    • We’re currently investigating it at this time. If you are playing the game from a wifi connection, you can try to switch to a wired connection to address this.
  11. Joining the game late and taking over a bot results in the loss of a primary weapon.

    • This issue will be fixed in time for launch!
  12. Two different Ridden growls played simultaneously unintentionally sound like racial slur

    • There is a known issue where several Ridden growl sound effects are randomly combined by the system in such a way to create what sounds like an offensive slur. While unintentional, we take this very seriously and are profoundly sorry for any hurt or harm this may have caused. This issue will be fixed prior to launch.
  13. PvP game continues after the enemy team leaves.

    • This issue will be fixed in time for launch!
  14. “Your group doesn’t meet requirements.”

    • Add any friend to your party, then open Preferences and you should be able to change ‘Private Campaign Lobby’ to off.
  15. I’ve encountered a Fatal Error during Bad Seeds that leads to my game crashing.

    • Please make sure your drivers are updated and that you meet the recommended system requirements for this game. If issues persist, please submit a bug and we will look into it.
  16. I’ve encountered a crash when my language is set to Danish on PS4/PS5.

    • Please change your language settings to English. After you are in Fort Hope, you may change your language settings back to Danish.

In related news, Back 4 Blood matchmaking issues have been addressed by devs and you can read about it here.

Back 4 Blood will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 12.

Edios: Guardians of the Galaxy Game Character Designs Combined Marvel & Own Backstory for New Visuals

One of the most awesome superhero teams in recent memory will be getting a visual upgrade for their upcoming new video game, as Eidos-Montreal has talked about the Guardians of the Galaxy game character designs, and how they landed on what we’ve seen so far.

Check out the video presentation below on the character designs.

According to Eidos-Montreal Art Director Bruno Gauthier-Leblanc, great care and attention to detail was taken to ensure that fans still recognize the Guardians visually while adding their own spin to the design as well.

When designing the Guardians, it was important they remained true to the narrative we had built while still being instantly recognisable as the Guardians of the Galaxy fans know and love. We combined inspiration from Marvel comic lore with our own character backstories to craft new visuals for this fun and dysfunctional family, infusing each Guardian with specific design aspects that also tie into gameplay.

Square Enix and Marvel are literally changing the game for Guardians of the Galaxy, as this game puts players in control of Star-Lord/ Peter Quill as he leads the Guardians in awesome adventures across the galaxy. The other members of the team like Gamora, Drax, and Rocket are not playable, but Peter can issue commands to make it quite the team playing experience.

Those who played Marvel’s Avengers will notice that Square Enix-owned studio Crystal Dynamics did the same thing with their version of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

In case you missed the Lady Hellbender trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, you can check it out right here.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on October 26 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Activision Sending Content Creators Call of Duty Vanguard Teasers

Following the official Call of Duty Twitter account’s acknowledgement of the leaks and whatnot surrounding Call of Duty Vanguard, it seems the hype train is now starting to roll its way out, as Activision has started to reach out to content creators about this year’s Call of Duty!

Here are some of the YouTubers/content creators who have shared that they got something in their DMs (Direct Message) titled “Wester Front”:

Interestingly enough, our own Jimmy Lara noticed the Task Force 141 emblem in the short clip.

For those unaware, here’s what the Callof Duty fandom page has to say about the One-Four-One:

Task Force 141, colloquially referred to as “The One-Four-One,” is a multinational special operations unit composed of members of British, Australian, United States, Canadian and possibly other foreign personnel, usually those with previous Special Ops experience. Its members serve as the principal protagonists of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, in which their main objective is to apprehend or eliminate Vladimir Makarov, a Russian Ultranationalist responsible for masterminding a Russian invasion of the United States. In 2016, its members participated in notable special operations in Kazakhstan, Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, a Gulag and a submarine base in the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Georgian-Russian border, and Afghanistan.

Mind, Task Force 141 is usually associated with Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare series. That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re part of COD: Vanguard given it is part of the Call of Duty universe.

Remedy: Control Has Passed 10M Players, “Bigger-Budget’ Control Game in Conception Phase

In our Control review, we highlighted just how well-made the game was, and it seems a ton of people agree! In Remedy Entertainment’s latest financials report, the studio has announced that there are now over 300 developers emplpyed by Remedy Entertainment, and regarding Control, the game has now reached over 10 million players.

In the same report, Remedy mentioned how a “bigger-budget” Control game was als in early conception phase.

Control has already reached a formidable audience, having been played by over 10 million players. The growing audience and brand awareness are valuable as we continue to support Control and develop Condor, and we are in the early conception phase for a future, bigger-budget Control game.

As for Condor, it’s the Control multiplayer spin-off that has been confirmed to be in development since last month. In addition to Condor, and the bigger-budget Control game, Remedy Entertainment is also working with Epic Games on a AAA title that’s already in full production.

This is definitely good news, as more Control is a good thing.

Report: Call of Duty Vanguard Release Date, Warzone Reveal Event Rewards Leaked via Season 5 Data

With Call of Duty: Warzone’s Season 5 patch now out, it seems more info regarding Call of Duty Vanguard has been unearthed! Not only is Activision planning a reveal for Vanguard in Warzone (which is what happened with Black Ops Cold War), but it seems we got the Call of Duty Vanguard release date leaked from it as well!

Thanks to reliable Call of Duty dataminers and leakers The Cheeseburger Boys, it’s been spotted in the game files are the Vanguard reveal trailer subtitles, that lists the game for a November 5 release date, which is a Friday. Note that Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13, 2020, which was also a Friday, and usually, these releases were tied into double XP weekend events for the community to partake in.

For the emblem, Calling Card, weapon Blueprints that are set for the COD Vanguard reveal in Warzone, head on for the gallery below:

Here’s a external link for the items as well (via Reddit user FeyWatch).

Further adding credibility to the findings is Activision taking down @HeyImAlaix’s Call of Duty Vanguard leaks on Twitter, which usually only happens if the uploaded images are legit.

Same as with everything datamined though, treat everything with a grain of salt, as none of the info here has been verified.

If rumors are to be believed, there’s an event set for August 19 for Call of Duty Vanguard. If so, the wait won’t be long now. Activision themselves have acknowledged the tidal wave of leaks, so we’re hoping the official reveal is very soon.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut pre-load has began rolling out, prepping player’s for the release next week!

Weighing in at roughly 57.72GB, gamers who pre-ordered the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut from the PlayStation Store can now begin pre-loading the title on their console. To do this, all you have to do is visit either the PS Store on your phone via PlayStation App App or through the browser (PC works also) and locate the game to push the download remotely. Of course you can also do this from the PS5 or PS4 via the game library.

Do note that pre-loading for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut may not be live in every region. If it isn’t, expect it to be later in the day.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut includes:

  • Ghost of Tsushima full game
  • Iki Island expansion: New story, mini-games, enemy types and more*
  • Legends online co-op mode**
  • Downloadable content:
    • Digital mini art book
    • Director’s commentary
    • One Technique Point*
    • Charm of Hachiman’s Favor*

It’s likely pre-loading will not be available for those opting for that option, meaning you will have to wait til release to download it.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be released on August 20 for the PS5 and PS4. If you haven’t already, be sure to read our Ghost of Tsushima review, which we rated a 9.5/10. It also was the overall winner of our Game of the Year 2020 award.

New Points of Interest:

  • Mobile Broadcast Stations
    • These POIs can be found in a variety of locations in Verdansk, differing from match-to-match to keep one area from being signal boosted by the rewards they offer. See what they’re all about by going closer to them, but be sure to keep your head and tune out the broadcast each one emits…
  • [[REDACTED]]
    • [[REDACTED]] has gone off grid and reports suggest [[REDACTED]] is doing [[REDACTED]] in Verdansk – what, we do not know. This is an unauthorized [[REDACTED]] that could jeopardize our [[REDACTED]] in discovering and stopping Stitch.

New Gulag: Rush:

  • Based on the classic Black Ops II map, this layout is comprised of the main speedball arena.

Red Doors:

  • Beware of these doors sending you to unexpected locations other than the main room. This may have something to do with those Mobile Broadcast Stations seen around Verdansk…

  • [Console Only] High-resolution textures are now delivered through On-Demand Texture Streaming. To enjoy a similar visual quality, enable this feature in the Options menu.
  • [PC Only] The Windows 7 operating system will stop being supported by Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® and Call of Duty®: Warzone™ on September 8th, 2021.

  • Loot that spawns across Verdansk has been adjusted as follows…
    • New Gulag and in-game lobby loadouts
    • The Sentry Gun Killstreak can now be found in Supply Boxes
    • The TEC-9 (BOCW) and EM2 (BOCW) have been added to the loot pool
  • Players may now detach from an ascender before reaching their destination.

Perks:

  • Added:

    • Combat Scout – Slot 3 (Yellow)
      • Damaging an enemy briefly highlights and automatically pings them.

    • Tempered – Slot 2 (Red)
      • Armor Plates are reinforced and now absorb 75 damage instead of 50. Only two Armor Plates are needed for an Operator to be considered “fully armored.”

  • Adjusted:

    • Cold-Blooded – Slot 1 (Blue)
      • Undetectable by AI targeting systems and thermal optics. Does not trigger High Alert warning and negates Combat Scout.
      • This change only applies to Warzone.
New operator Kitsune making gun hands.
  • Fixed additional collision issues with various elements across Verdansk allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed visual issues with various elements across Verdansk causing them to disappear at certain angles or allowing light to shine through them.

    • This accessibility feature supports motor disability by eliminating the need to hold a button for extended periods of time in order to stabilize scoped Weapons such as snipers.

    • The setting has two options:
      • Hold: Press and hold to steady aim.
      • Toggle: Press to steady aim. Press again to stop.

New Weapons (BOCW):

Rumor: GTA Remastered Trilogy Running on Unreal Engine Set for Holiday Season Release

It looks like the long-rumored (Grand Theft Auto) GTA Remastered Trilogy may be more than just a HD resolution touch up as a new rumor suggests that the titles are being developed on Unreal Engine, with a release slated this holiday season for consoles, including the Nintendo Switch.

Sources close to Kotaku have come out to claim that Rockstar Dundee, a new studio that Take-Two recently formed, is helming the GTA Remastered Trilogy (GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas) project and that they are currently building the titles with Unreal Engine. The source states that the visuals will be a mix of “new and old graphics,” with one telling Kotaku that it reminded them of some heavily-modded classic GTA.

As for a release, while it was originally supposed to release earlier this year, it seems that Rockstar Games is now targeting an October-November release for the GTA Trilogy Remastered. The source says that in addition to the PS4 and Xbox One, a next-gen (PS5, Xbox Series,) Nintendo Switch, PC, Stadia, and even mobile release will be happening.

No further details were published, though Kotaku states that their sources have a lengthy track record of keeping them in the loop of upcoming GTA updates in the past.

We do know from the Take-Two earning call that the company does indeed have three unreleased remasters/remakes in the works, which does so happen to align with a GTA Remastered Trilogy. However, until it’s official, it’s still rumor and speculation, meaning take this one with a grain of salt.

We will be sure to keep you all updated as this news develops, and hopefully we hear from Rockstar Games very soon.

Back 4 Blood Beta Matchmaking Issues Acknowledge by Devs, Game Goes Gold

If you’re in the Back 4 Blood open beta and having issues matching with players, don’t fret, as Turtle Rock is aware of the Back 4 Blood matchmaking issues! The studio has posted an announcement over on Twitter acknowledging the problems.

Attention! We’re aware that some players are experiencing matchmaking issues. Looking into it now and will update you here as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

The studio has also touched on issues with party and how players will sometimes not be able to join as well.

In addition to that, the devs have announce that the game has gone gold — a term used in the games industry when a game is essentially finished, and ready to be reprinted/reproduced and delivered to retailers! In short: the game is not getting delayed now.

Mind, betas are usually conducted for situations like these. Let’s hope that at launch, this won’t be an issue at all.

If you haven’t tried the beta yet, you can do so now. You can download the beta client on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC! You can also read up on our impressions right here.

Back 4 Blood is set for release this October 12 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
