Advanced Warfare’s ‘Best Preorder Incentives Have Yet to Come,’ GameStop Letter Confirms ‘Exciting’ Announcement

According to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, some of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare‘s “best preorder incentives have yet to come.”

The only bonus revealed thus far for those who’ve pre-ordered Advanced Warfare is the Advanced Arsenal pack, an in-game bundle containing the Bullet-Brass Exoskeleton and the Bullet-Brass M1 Quantum directed energy weapon. But as Hirshberg mentioned, it sounds like pre-purchasers will have more to look forward to in the near future.

Hirshberg mentioned the surprise in his response to a question regarding Advanced Warfare’s current pre-order numbers during Activision’s recent Q2 2014 earnings call.

“I think it’s also important to remember that we’re still a ways from our launch and have yet to reveal some of the most important elements of the game to the community who tends to pre-order, like multiplayer and some of our best pre-order incentives have yet to come.”

According to an internal letter sent to us by an MP1st reader and ex-GameStop employee who wishes to remain anonymous, GameStop is likely make the surprise announcement “soon.”

The letter mentions “exciting things that are due to be announced soon about Call of Duty,” but that “details are unable to be shared [with employees] at this time.” It’s not a lot to go by, but we know something is in the works.

Speaking of pre-orders, readers have noted that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s Digital Pro Edition and Season Pass are now available to pre-order on the PlayStation Network Store. (Update: The Advanced Warfare Digital Pro Edition is now appearing on Steam as well.) According to the product description, content included in Advanced Warfare’s Season Pass will transfer if users decide to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 at a later date.

What do you think Advanced Warfare’s unannounced pre-order incentive might be? Keep your sights on MP1st for news!

Evolve’s Launch Moved to Early 2015

Earlier this week, we caught 23 minutes of exciting Evolve gameplay that was sure to get you pumped for its release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, but don’t get too excited.

Take-Two Interactive, parent company of developer Turtle Rock Studios, recently announced in a report for their first fiscal quarter that the Evolve will suffer a delay to next year.

“Evolve™, a new intellectual property for next-gen consoles and PC developed by Turtle Rock Studios, the creators of the cooperative shooter classic, Left 4 Dead, won more than 50 editorial honors at the 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo, including the coveted Game Critics Award top honor for Best of Show. The title is now planned to launch globally on February 10, 2015.”

Evolve was originally pinned to launch on October 21 of this year. It’s is not the first major title of this year to suffer a delay, as we previously reported that Battlefield Hardline’s launch wouldn’t see the light of day until “early 2015”.

What’s your take? Was it a smart choice to move Evolve’s launch away from the congested Fall season of shooters like, Destiny, Call of Duty, and Halo?

Killzone Shadow Fall Four-Player Co-Op DLC, Intercept, Gets a Standalone Release

Intercept, a four-player co-operative expansion to Guerrilla Games’ PlayStation 4 shooter, Killzone Shadow Fall, is getting its own standalone release, hitting the PlayStation Store today.

The DLC offers four co-op maps, with additional free maps currently in the works, for $19.99. It was previously made available to Season Pass holders earlier this Summer. Being a standalone release, it means you don’t even need to own the original Killzone Shadow Fall game to enjoy the new co-op experiences.

Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept places you and up to three of your friends on the elite VSA team known as Intelligence Squad Alpha. Operating behind enemy lines, your team must relay intercepted military transmissions back to VSA headquarters through a set of captured Uplinks, while defending them from Helghast troops.

To keep the enemy at bay long enough to establish a secure connection, you will have to master your assigned Combat Role — Assault, Marksman, Medic or Tactician — and work together as a team. Your AI-controlled Helghast opponents have their own sets of goals and Combat Roles, and will switch up their tactics and angles of attack when they recapture an Uplink.

You can watch the launch trailer above and check out some new screens.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Nemesis DLC – Neversoft and Egg-Stra XP Easter Eggs Discovered

Call of Duty: Ghosts Nemesis DLC is now out on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and along with it are a few Easter Eggs for you to find.

The first secret is a continuation of Ghosts’ Egg-Stra XP challenge that tasks players with finding hidden alien hives on each of the four new multiplayer maps. Shooting all four hives and completing the challenge will award you with a bit of bonus XP. It’s also part of the requirements for one of Nemesis’ 10 new achievements, “Eggstra Nemesis!”

The second secret is a little harder to find without using Ghosts’ free cam spectator mode. But if you do a bit of digging on Showtime, the re-imagining of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s Shipment, you’ll find a special surprise that pays tribute to the newest addition to the Infinity Ward team, a studio formerly known as Neversoft. Neversoft merged with Infinity Ward last May to form one super studio, retiring its former name. Neversoft originally assisted in the development of both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Ghosts

Both easter eggs are showcased in the videos below, courtesy of YouTube personality ChaosXSilencer. Watch them to learn of all the alien hive locations and see the Showtime easter egg in action.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Nemesis DLC is now out on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC next month.

Update

FyCKnives pointed out that the entire Showtime map is, in fact, one giant easter egg referencing the merging of Neversoft with Infinity Ward. You can see in the new footage below, courtesy of Arson tK and ChaosXSilencer, that the entire layout of the map is shaped like the Neversoft logo. Pretty cool!

Here’s What’s New in Part One of Insurgency’s Free “Hunt” DLC, Now Live

One of the best military-inspired tactical PC shooters out there is getting even better with a supply drop of brand new in-game content.

Today, Developer New World Interactive introduced “Hunt,” a free DLC add-on for Insurgency now available for PC and Mac via a Steam update.

In addition to Panj, an open-ended map based on the rural southern provinces of Afghanistan, NWI is re-introducing the Hunt game mode, a co-operative one-life game type where players are tasked with hunting down an enemy weapons cache while overcoming enemy defenses. The Push game mode has also been updated to include an additional end-game sequence, giving attackers have the opportunity to destroy the enemy weapons cache. Defenders have one life to make their last stand.

If you missed it, you can catch some action on the new map in these gameplay videos.

The update also introduces new gear, including a grenade launcher for both teams, giving the Demolitions and Security classes access to the M203 attachment for the M16 and the Striker and Sapper classes access to the GP25 attachment for the AKMS. Each launcher will fire either explosive or smoke rounds. Gamers will also notice a new 1X Aimpoint sight for Security, an M14 EBR bipod upgrade, new weight restrictions, and a supply point rebalance for some kit items.

Today’s update is only part one of the entire package that will arrive in full a couple days later, introducing even more content and features, so stay tuned for more details.

To get the specifics on bug fixes and all of today’s tweaks, check out the full change log below:

    • ins_bot_count_checkpoint_min// Default is 5. This is the amount of bots, per objective, that will be loaded when ins_bot_count_checkpoint is set to 0 and there is only 1 player on a server.
    • ins_bot_count_checkpoint_max// Default is 12. This is the amount of bots, per objective, that will be loaded when ins_bot_count_checkpoint is set to 0 and there are 8 players on a server.
    • ins_bot_count_checkpoint_default// Default is 0. This is the value that a server will automatically reset ins_bot_count_checkpoint to when hibernating.
  • Added new ConVar for determining the amount of reinforcement waves per objective in Push:
    • mp_wave_count_defenders_per_obj// Default is 5. Sets the amount of waves per objective. Defenders get this amount multiplied by the total amount of objectives at the start of the round.

Mortal Kombat X Rumor – Is Ed Boon Hinting at a Possible Cyrax And Sektor Reveal?

With Kano’s accidental reveal thanks to a German Magazine earlier today, he might not be the only character reveal that Netherrealm Studio plans to make during this year’s Gamescom.

Recently, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon dropped a few more cryptic hints yet again on his Twitter account to get the MKX rumor mill spinning and hype train rolling. This time, we see Boon specifically referencing “mustard” and “ketchup,” code names for the cybernetic Lin Kuei assassins Cyrax and Sektor, respectively.

Check out the tweets below:

Considering that Mortal Kombat X will feature three variants for each character, it wouldn’t be too surprising if both Cyrax and Sektor are melded into one “super” Lin-Kuei cyborg with variants themed around the two characters’ play styles.

What do you think?

Mortal Kombat X is expected to release sometime in the year 2015 for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.

MP1st Reader Blog: How To Complete The Phantom Initiate Assignment in Battlefield 4

The MP1st reader blog is an open discussion lead by MP1st readers about the multiplayer titles and topics we cover. To learn how to have your voice heard, check out the Blog section on the MP1st Forums in the Multiplayer’s Lounge.

To complete the Phantom Initiate assignment, you must be a Premium member for Battlefield 4. To unlock it, you need to go into the Leaderboards section on Battlelog and click the skull on the bottom left of the page. Once all the text populates, type in the passwords:

24344241893

OR

5ab07a6e5

Once you enter the passwords, the screen will be look like the photo below. If your screens look the same, you successfully unlocked the Phantom Initiate assignment.

kQNJPLJ

However, in order to unlock Phantom Initiate, you must first unlock (you do not need to complete) the first two Phantom assignment. The password for Phantom Prospect is: bumpinthenight” (without the quotes). The password for Phantom Trainee is: “epic dream worlds” (without the quotes).

To complete this assignment, you must complete the following objectives:

  • Get 200 kills with LMG
  • Get 50 kills with explosives
  • Get 25 roadkills

2376.phantom2.jpg-550x0

For the LMG kills, you need to be in a ranked server. I personally recommended that you join Domination/TDM game mode servers with high tickets. The Type 88 is good choice for low rank players in addition to the AWS, MG4, PKP Pecheneg, and M240B for high rank players. Battlefield YouTube personality Xfactor made a great tutorial on how to dominate with an LMG.

[youtube id=”LJ9P8bSjj6U”]

For explosives kills, you’ll need to be in a ranked server. You can use C4, XM25 Airburst, M32 MGL, Claymore, M2 Slam, AT Mine, RGO Impact, V40 mini, Frag grenade, Mortar, UCAV, M320, M320 LVG, or M320 3G. All AT/AA launchers count as an explosive kill as well. I’m not sure if the battle pickups count as explosives kills. I personally recommend that you go on Operation hurt Locker or Operation Metro to spam a few grenades. Please do not put C4 on flags.

[youtube id=”K2Qpui1hYBw”]

For roadkills, you need to be in a ranked server. You need to be the driver of any vehicles, including the SUAV, Jets, and Helicopters. I personally recommended that you join full conquest 64 player server, unless you’re playing BF4 on last-gen console. I also personally recommended that you go on big and empty maps like Golmud Railway, Lancang Dam, Lost Islands, Rogue Transmission, and Caspian Border.

If you watch any videos from YouTube personality ChaBoyy and Azzy, they show you the right and the wrong ways to get roadkills.

[youtube id=”BrOKQluf4oA”]

Note: You want do this in order because, if you don’t follow these instructions in order, you may need to start over. Make sure you take care in following these steps, since Battlelog is known to have a few issues.

I hope my guide helps you complete the Phantom Initiate assignment. Here are the Phantom Initiate camos on the Assault soldier.

After getting a look at the first seven fighters to be included in NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming fighter, Mortal Kombat X, over the past two months, it appears that the next character has been outed ahead of series co-creator Ed Boon’s intended reveal at Gamescom 2014.

For those who can’t wait until then, an unidentified German Magazine has spoiled the surprise ahead of time and revealed that the Black Dragon clan leader, Kano, will indeed be included in Mortal Kombat X’s roster.

Check out the first images of Kano below:

From the looks of it, one of Kano’s variants will be “Wrestling” and will include a flying knee attack. Unfortunately, no other information was leaked as those two images were the only things to hit the internet this weekend.

Elsewhere, it appears that German magazine, GamePro, will be featuring Mortal Kombat X as their next cover story, so it’s possible that the images above were taken from their September issue.

Additionally, the studio has outed a new trailer focused on the previous character reveal for Raiden. Boon walks through some of his different styles and special moves and also confirms Kotal Kahn as the new Emperor of the Outworld.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Nemesis DLC – Showtime Map Video Preview

Call of Duty’s smallest multiplayer map ever is making a return in Call of Duty: Ghosts’ fourth and final DLC pack, Nemesis.

Love it or hate it, Shipment from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare doesn’t quite play out like your average multiplayer map. There’s really no safe place to turn the second you spawn in, and so it’s imperative that you remain on top of your game constantly. It’s a hectic and chaotic sort of fun that Infinity Ward hopes to recapture in Showtime, a reimagining of Shipment that arrives in tomorrow’s update.

Clearly, the visuals, along with some gameplay mechanics, have been updated for its return. Check out the gameplay trailer above and check back at noon PST for even more gameplay.

Meanwhile, you can also grab a quick look at Nemesis DLC’s other three maps:

Call of Duty: Ghosts Nemesis arrives tomorrow, first on Xbox Live.
