Fallout 76 Servers Taken Down for Maintenance to Roll Out a New Patch

[summaraize]

Bethesda is about to deploy the first patch of Fallout 76 of 2025, but before that, the servers must be taken down first! This maintenance period should last for a few hours, and during this time, players should be able to download a new client patch for the game.

This is not a seasonal update, so don’t expect any major new additions, though we are expecting bug fixes to be part of the download.

Fallout 76 Servers Taken Offline for Maintenance This January 21, 2025

Fallout 76 Update 1.93

Update: The complete patch notes for today’s patch is now available here.

The announcement from Bethesda notes the following outage time:

Server downtime starts: 10 am ET/9 am CT/7 am PT/11 pm HKT

While no specific timeframe is given, the game’s maintenance outages usually last 2-4 hours. If there is extended downtime, Bethesda issues an update about it. In terms of the fixes, the issues that surfaced from the massive Gleaming Depths patch released in December should be part of the changelog.

Some of the issues in the game (not confirmed to be fixed in this patch, though):

  • Caravans
  • Autoaxe Guardian exploit (most likely will be patched out)
  • Snake crashing on console versions (Bethesda replied “Team is still digging into this issue. We gathered some info with the help of some Xbox Discord members last week, but I don’t have an update to share on this just yet”) so might not be part of today’s patch.
  • If anything changes regarding the scheduled outage, we’ll update the article with the info, so stay tuned!
  • Bottle Cap Press should be fixed in this patch since it’s tied to microtransctions
  • Drill/Sigma Squad trophy still bugged
  • Perk card machine in the Raid before the last boss is still bugged
  • Area chat got broken with the December patch

On the official patch notes are available, we’ll add a link to it in this article.

Battlefield 2042 Update 1.64 Now Live on All Platforms for Patch 8.4

[summaraize]

Battlefield 2042 players should now be able to download the game’s first patch of 2025! Called patch 8.4, those on consoles will see this as Battlefield 2042 update 1.64 and this brings new Vault vehicles to All-Out Warfare.

Alongside this, there’s a new XP event for the Rendezook move popularized in Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 2042’s New Update for January 21 Brings New Vehicles

New Vault Drop – M3A3 Bradley & BMP-2

Jump into the M3A3 Bradley and the BMP-2, two fan-favorite war machines originating from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3. Remade for Battlefield 2042, each of these infantry fighting vehicles will be a supreme resource for skilled No-Pats nabbing one of its four seats.

Unlocked Frontlines and Conquest

As we know you’ll be eager to test out the vault drops, we’re adding two unlocked modes over the next two weeks. From January 21st onwards Frontlines Unlocked will allow you to play the new IFVs released in this patch without the need to unlock them first. Additionally, the M3A3 Bradley and the BMP-2 will be available on all objectives, not just the final ones!

Switching over on January 28th, Conquest Unlocked allows for the same freedom to all players, as well as access to Light Transports and Attack Helicopters! This way you’ll be able to get into the action right away and try out both IFVs before unlocking them yourself.

Changelog

Battlefield 2042 IFV’s – M3A3 Bradley & BMP-2

Developer comment: The changes to the Bradley and BMP-2 will affect the new additions to the Battlefield 2042 roster, and do not include the versions usable in Portal.

  • Added visual effects for systemic damage on the IFVs.

      • Vehicle armor is now compromised when using this ability and will take more damage than usual.
Developer comment: This also supplements the glass cannon build.
      • All weapons on the vehicle now benefit from this ability, not just primary weapons.
    • Stealth Package
      • New: Now hides the vehicle from most spotting attempts.

    • Active Armor
      • It applies on both vehicle armor and each system, requiring all vehicle systems to take additional damage before breaking.
    • Guided Missile
      • Added the possibility to fire and lock on after in order to open up opportunities for new gameplay moments.
Developer comments: We will monitor this change and evaluate its impact going forward.

  • Added new UI elements for the guided missile of the IFVs to support their behavior and readability.

Delta Force Reaches New Concurrent Player High With Launch of Season 2

[summaraize]

It looks like Team Jade’s second season of Delta Force is working its magic, as the community seems to have embraced the latest content drop for the free-to-play shooter.

With the launch of Season 2: Starfall, the game has established a new concurrent player high on Steam.

Delta Force Shatters Concurrent Player Number on Steam

According to the ever-reliable Steam Charts, Delta Force’s has reached a concurrent peak of 131, 262. Even after a day, the player base still managed to hit 108,000, which means those who tried Season 2, are sticking around.

To put things in perspective, Delta Force now has a higher concurrent player high on Steam than Battlefield 2042 (107,000) and even Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (112, 000).  Of course, both those games are premium (read: paid) experiences, but even so, that’s quite an achievement for Team Jade.

Aside from Season 2, the game will soon have a single-player component. The console versions are also scheduled to drop this year, though we haven’t seen anything except one super-short clip.

Will Team Jade manage to maintain this momentum? We sure hope so. While a lot of games manage to skyrocket to the top of the charts, it’s another thing to stay on top of the pile.  These days, there’s a flood of options for players, and sometimes all it takes for the player base to jump ship is one misstep. We expect Delta Force to hit even harder once the console versions are out and crossplay is available in full force.

If you’ve yet to play the game, go read our review where we state, “Delta Force is a pure military shooter, with little to no fluff, and in-depth weapon mechanics that some may enjoy tweaking to their heart’s content.”

Battlefield 2042 Download Version 1.000.067 Now Out for Patch 8.4

[summaraize]

For those on PlayStation platforms, you should be able to see the Battlefield 2042 download version 1.000.067 live now, even if it can’t be installed until tomorrow. This is for patch 8.4, which brings Vault vehicles to All-Out Warfare.

In addition to the tanks being slotted in the game, DICE has now added a new XP event for the Rendezook! Pulling this off in the game will now net you XP!

Battlefield 2042’s Latest Update Download Brings New Vehicles

  • Added a new slot for both vehicles to open up the possibility to mix and match different loadouts.
  • Added visual effects for systemic damage on the IFVs.
  • Improved visibility of driver first-person views when second seat gunner rotates.
  • Both vehicles are now using a 4 seat configuration down from 6, in order to better fit in the category they are set in.
  • IFVs armor-piercing shell now penetrates the dozer shield.
  • The primary cannon of the IFV’s velocity increased by 10%.
  • Increased damage of armor-piercing shell vs Soldier body.
  • Various abilities have been moved between slots to allow for specific vehicle builds.
  • Added active protection system for both IFVs.
  • Added thermal weapons for passengers of the IFVs.
  • Updated the mesh along with various other changes to the art for the Bradley and BMP to better fit in with the Battlefield 2042 world.
  • Added coax weapon and mesh for the Bradley.
  • Additional abilities and weapons:
    • Shared loadout
      • Primary: 25mm cannon
      • Secondary weapons:
        • New to Bradley: Coax machine gun, Guided missile, APFSDS-T Sabot Shells
        • TOW
      • Gunner:
        • New: HMG with Thermal scope.
        • HMG
      • Equipment slot 1:
        • Thermal Smoke Package
        • Active Armor
        • Improved warhead

        • Proximity scan – tweaked version of previously electronic warfare package.
  • Ability changes::
    • Improved warhead
      • Now deals 25% more damage on impact and blast damage.
Developer comment: Previously was only on impact. This is to double down on the glass cannon build when configured with this ability.
      • New: Hides the vehicle from thermal optics.
      • Lock on weapons take longer to lock on to the vehicle – same functionality players know from Thermal Camo in Portal.
    • Maintenance
      • Shortens the time it takes for the natural health regen to kick in, it repairs the vehicle at a higher rate and it also applies on each systemic damage of vehicle so broken system will be back online quicker.
    • Quick Reload Package
      • It now applies on all vehicle weapons (previously only applied on primary weapons), weapons such as the COAX that do not use a reload or replenish will instead have a longer up time before reaching overheat threshold.
  • Increased impact damage of primary cannon from 32 to 48
  • Improved mobility on both IFV’s, it should now be easier to move from stand still position and turning at various speeds.
  • Added new minimap and in world icon for the IFVs.
  • Guided missiles fired by the IFV will  no longer lock on air vehicles, unless a teammate designates the air vehicle.
  • Updated the distance and angle locking criteria for the guided missiles on IFVs.
  • Proximity scan now has a 20m radius and functions for both infantry and explosives.
  • Updated FoV for IFVs’ passengers.
  • Improved zoom view on the IFV to be compatible with other Battlefield 2042 vehicles.
  • IFVs now use the same material and damage model as other vehicles of the same type.
  • The M3A3 Bradley now has zoom on the port weapons.
  • Updated camera position and aim constraints on all seats for both new IFVs.
  • Fixed an issue that shots with steep angles wouldn’t deal consistent damage.
  • Added new UI elements for the guided missile of the IFVs to support their behavior and readability.
  • Added new impact hit audio elements depending on which ability is equipped for the IFVs to help readability.
    • For example, when using Improved Warhead, your vehicle has less armor than usual, therefore damage sounds will be more noticeable.
  • Missile arm activates when using both tow or guided missiles.
  • Improved flying characteristics of tow and guided missiles on IFVs.
  • Added new icons for passive abilities.
  • Added landing boosters for the IFVs when called in via the call-ins menu.
  • Added BMP-2 and Bradley to the end of round screen.
  • Updated position of camera when applying cosmetics on Bradley and BMP-2
  • Added a vignette for the port weapons for a better presentation of the seat that is occupied.
  • New mesh for the Active Protection System to fit the new colors of the vehicle.
  • Removed smoke from the IFV and replaced it with thermal smoke ability.
  • Disabled neutral steering for IFVs, stopping them from moving forward when steering.
  • IFVs primary ammo increased from 6 to 8.
  • Primary cannon and Armor Piercing shells no longer use the same ammo pool like the Portal variant. Instead, they work as primary and secondary weapons, separately.
  • Increased base impact damage of primary cannon from 32 to 48.

Resident Evil 6 Potentially Coming to Xbox Series X|S, ESRB Listing Suggests

[summaraize]

While we’ve seen Capcom remake its Resident Evil franchise one game at a time, it seems there is one title that could be seeing a re-release soon, and it’s probably the most despised mainline entry in the franchise. As most fans can already tell (if the headline isn’t a dead giveaway), I’m referring to Resident Evil 6.

This latest tidbit of info comes from the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board), which means this is the real deal since video game companies themselves file ESRB ratings for their games.

Resident Evil 6 Rated for Xbox Series X|S by ESRB

Resident Evil 6 ESRB

A recent listing on the official website of the ESRB, the American video game rating board, hints at a new Xbox Series X|S version of Resident Evil 6. While the listing doesn’t provide specific details, it’s reasonable to speculate that this could be a remastered edition of the game for current-generation Xbox consoles. Notably, there’s no mention of a PlayStation 5 version, but given the series’ history as a multi-platform franchise, a PS5 port cannot be ruled out.

Resident Evil 6 was met with mixed reactions when it launched in 2012. Many fans were disappointed by its graphics, which felt outdated even for its time. The game moved away from the survival-horror style that earlier titles in the series were known for and focused more on action scenes, which many long-time fans didn’t enjoy.

Despite all this criticism, Resident Evil 6 still managed to sell 9.3 million copies worldwide across all platforms—a number that could continue to grow.

Capcom has previously released native versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 for the PS5, suggesting a possible strategy to bring the main Resident Evil games to modern platforms without relying on backward compatibility. If this is true, a remastered version of Resident Evil 6—which is already on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch—would make sense. However, this is just a guess for now, as Capcom hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

This development also raises the question of whether Resident Evil 5 could follow the same path. However, rumors suggest a full remake of Resident Evil 5 may already be in development. If true, it might make less sense for Capcom to invest in a remastered version of Resident Evil 5 compared to Resident Evil 6, which is less likely to receive a remake due to its mixed reception among fans.

For now, fans will have to wait for any official announcements or updates from Capcom regarding the potential return of Resident Evil 6 on current-generation consoles. As we get more information, we will make sure to keep you guys informed here at MP1st.

Rumor: Starfield, Diablo 4, Fallout 4, Call of Duty, and More Xbox Games Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

[summaraize]

A new report claims that several Xbox titles might be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. This aligns with earlier rumors from NateTheHate and Jez Corden of Windows Central, who suggested that Xbox plans to bring some of its popular games to the new Nintendo console. According to eXtas1s, Microsoft is planning to add both recent and older titles to the platform, including Diablo 4, Fallout 4, and Starfield.

Kown and reliable leaker eXtas1s mentioned that Microsoft’s efforts to support the Switch 2 might also include games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Major Xbox Games Potentially Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Xbox Games Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

The list of games potentially coming to the Switch 2 includes (via eXtas1s’ video)

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection
  • Diablo 4
  • Call of Duty (exact title is unknown)
  • Fallout 4
  • Starfield

As mentioned earlier, these rumors are based on earlier speculation by NateTheHate about Xbox games possibly coming to PS5 and Switch 2. There’s talk that games like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and maybe even a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could be part of this plan. Jez Corden has also corroborated these claims, lending some credibility to the rumors.

If the rumors are true, this means Microsoft is continuing its efforts to bring Xbox games to more platforms. Xbox head Phil Spencer has called this approach “a strategy that works for us,” though decisions about bringing games to other platforms are still made on a case-by-case basis.

However, as with any leaks, it’s wise to take this information with a grain of salt. While eXtas1s has made accurate predictions before, it’s hard to determine how reliable this claim is. That said, similar rumors from sources like NateTheHate and Jez Corden lend some credibility to his statement.

In related news, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is rumored to be coming to Xbox later this year, according to NateTheHate. Its sequel, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is planned for 2026 if everything goes as expected.

Palworld 2025 Roadmap Revealed – Co-op Crossplay, New Collaborations, and More Coming

[summaraize]

For many, the road to 1.0 is a long one. However, for Palworld, that road has already been quite successful. The game launched a year ago and sold over 12 million copies. Since then, it has received numerous updates, including an expansion this past December that introduced a ton of new content, along with a new raid.

But you’d be mistaken if you thought Pocketpair would slow down in the new year. Their newly released Palworld 2025 roadmap shows plenty of new stuff planned throughout the year.

Palworld 2025 Roadmap Is Bringing Highly Requested Features and New Content

As revealed on X, the Palworld 2025 roadmap has been released, giving us a look at what’s to come this year. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect as Pockpair continues to work towards the full release later this year.

  • CO-OP Crossplay
  • World Transfers for Pals
  • Final Boss / Ending Scenario
  • Further ways to strengthen and improve Pals
  • Various new content such as new Pals and technologies
  • Game Collaborations (Including Terraria)
  • Improvements to world object placement
  • Improvements to base Pals
  • Improvements to optimization
  • Improvements to UX

That’s not bad, and we’re expecting to see some other surprises with these updates. The biggest thing from this list is that full crossplay looks to be coming, and hopefully, soon, we’ll be able to play with anyone across any platform.

Besides what’s been detailed above, is there anything you’re hopeful to see to come to Palworld in the new year? What about collaborations, which one do you think will be coming later this year?

SCUF Envision Pro Review – Supreme Customization Options on PC

If you’re in the market for a pro-level video game controller, but mostly or only game on PC, your best bet was typically to piggyback off of something made with consoles in mind first. But Corsair, courtesy of their SCUF company, has produced the Envision Pro, a PC-centered pro-level controller that they aim to cater to the competitive gamer who wants the ease of use that comes with controllers, mixed with the customization and options you can really only get by using PCs. Our Envision Pro review put the controller through its paces to let you know if this one is worth the asking price.

Pro for Just a Few Dollars More

The Envision is actually available in two flavors: one simply named the Envision, and the unit we received, the Envision Pro. While both controllers sport Omron switches, interchangeable thumb sticks, swappable face plates, four rear paddles, two side buttons, a row of G keys along with an RGB LED strip, the Pro model has a couple of additions. First, a switch on the back can toggle between wired and wireless via an included proprietary USB-A dongle; only the Pro model has wireless functionality. Additionally, only the Pro version has adjustable shoulder triggers, as well as textured grips along the bottom. The inclusion of wireless functionality alone might be worth the upgrade to the Envision Pro, and thankfully the price difference between the two is a mere $20.

The Envision Pro weighs 289 grams, which is lighter than either Sony’s DualSense Edge (325g), or Microsoft’s Elite Series controller (345g give or take 15g depending on attached accessories). While we’re splitting hairs on this metric, theoretically the slightly lighter heft means you can play for longer sessions without fatigue of your wrists or arms. Then again, if you’re playing a game so long that the weight of the controller factors in, perhaps a break wouldn’t be such a bad thing!

Buttons Galore, Spare Parts Too

The Envision Pro we received has a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 faceplate. Otherwise, it is the standard Envision Pro model. This means Omron mechanical switches can be found on the face buttons, d-pad, side action paddles (SCUF refers to these as SAX), and two of the four rear paddles. Both shoulder triggers feature a switch that toggles between a full analog range of motion, good for use in driving games for example, and mouse-like clicking action which would help in games that require a quicker press of the trigger, such as shooting games. While this option is expected in any pro-level controller, the simple switch mechanism doesn’t allow for multiple levels of adjustment, which at the very least both Sony and Microsoft’s pro-level controllers offer.

In the box is everything you need to get started. There’s a 2m/6ft-long, braided USB-A to USB-C cable, which feels quite premium, along with a USB-C to USB-A adapter for those who may not have a free USB-A port, like anyone on a laptop made within the past couple of years. The aforementioned USB-A wireless transceiver dongle is included, alongside two extra thumbsticks of varying height, two sets of blank paddles should you choose to not use some, and an inner paddle removal tool. Finally, of course, the controller is here, which has a USB-C port for charging/data if using the wired mode, as well as a 3.5mm audio output jack for those of you who want analog audio.

Hefty, Balanced, Premium

The Envision Pro has a great feel to it, and out of the box the thumbsticks feel extremely smooth. The extra thumbsticks feature one that is shorter and concave, for performing quick moves even faster, and a taller, domed thumbstick for a wider range of motion and thus, more accuracy. Each thumbstick makes a slight click-like sound when moved from the zeroed-out spot, which can help to indicate when the stick has actually been moved audibly. Other pro controllers do this as well. However, these are also not Hall Effect thumbsticks – regular potentiometers are used instead. I’m sure they are high quality potentiometers that won’t wear out too quickly, but still, stick drift will be a very real risk after a long time. It is inevitable with this kind of tech. So far, for the month or so we’ve had our controller, there is no evidence of that, but then again this is the kind of problem that doesn’t surface for years in typical usage scenarios.

As for the paddles, there are four on the backside of the Envision Pro, along with the SAX buttons mentioned earlier. The layout of the four rear paddles is such that, for average-sized hands, your index and middle fingers rest on the shoulder buttons and triggers, while your ring/third fingers have access to two paddles apiece – moving those fingers towards yourself will depress P1 and P4, while moving them away from you will depress P2 and P3. P2 and P3 feel much like the Omron switches, and they can be activated from multiple angles. Meanwhile, the SAX buttons are probably the ones that get the most used to. With your hands naturally resting on the controller, you simply shift the lower portion of your index fingers to trigger these, which also have a mouse-like switch. While they are easy to trigger, during more hectic moments of some games involving the shoulder buttons might cause accidental presses. It shouldn’t take long for you to adapt, however, and it’s easy to find a use case that you might be able to utilize, like mapping more mundane actions such as toggling an in-game flashlight until you get used to how it feels to trigger the SAX buttons.

Update Firmware, Customize, and More With iCUE

The iCUE software is required to do any sort of mapping or customization to the Envision Pro other than the hardware mods that can be done. Since this is the hub for all Corsair products, it almost feels like overkill needing something like this for just a controller, however the application is good at only downloading the modules you need for the products you have connected. This keeps the installation pretty lightweight. From here, you can update firmware on the USB dongle and the controller itself. You can adjust the lighting effects, button mappings, thumbstick deadzones, trigger deadzones, and vibration intensity. You can also turn on device memory mode if plugged in via USB, which lets you save one profile which can be used on another PC that does not have iCUE software installed. This can be handy if you have multiple computers you play on, and don’t want to be bothered to setup your same settings or be bothered with importing those settings and then worrying about having the latest version of your settings.

Remapping the G keys and/or paddles is a straightforward process. You can have basically any button on the Envision Pro stand in for any other button, or customize them to perform other tasks such as control media playback, launch applications, disable the button(s) entirely, switch controller profiles, and of course macros, which can come in handy for games that require several steps to perform certain actions which can be easily repeated. This functionality can be very handy in many games.

Verdict

The SCUF Envision Pro is a great value for $199.99, but even more so when it’s on sale, which happens quite frequently at this time of year – as of publication, it’s currently discounted to $149.99 in some configurations. With a plethora of customization options (even including an RGB strip along the front), swappable face plates, mouse-like button response on many of the controller’s buttons, and the functional and convenient G keys, getting this controller tailored to your play style is straightforward and convenient.

Score: 8/10

Pros:

  • Premium-built controller that feels made to last
  • Four back paddles and two side-action buttons ensure you rarely need to take your thumbs off the sticks
  • Programmable G keys grant access to even more functionality
  • RGB light strip is there for those who love adding lights to all the things
  • Swappable face plates and thumbsticks for even more customization

Cons:

  • Thumbsticks are not Hall Effect – stick drift may be a concern in the far future
  • Shoulder triggers only have two hardware customization levels

Vampire Survivors’ popularity shows no signs of slowing down, and its developer, Poncle, continues to work hard to keep players engaged with new features and content. As 2025 begins, the team has announced significant updates and expansions to keep players engaged, sparking excitement throughout the community.

Vampire Survivors Cross-Save Coming with Update 1.13

The Blood of Dawnwalker Magic Will Be “Less Flashy” Than in Other Fantasy Games, Romanceable Characters Confirmed

[summaraize]

In Rebel Wolves’ upcoming dark fantasy RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker, players will be playing half-human, half-vampire protagonist Coen. Given the reveal trailer showed us some of the supernatural things Coen can do, some might be expecting the character to be able to wield fireballs and other kinds of magic as we’re accustomed to in other RPGs.

That won’t be the case with The Blood of Dawnwalker, as the developers have confirmed that magic in the game will be “less flashy.”

Don’t Expect Fireballs and Lightning Bolts From Coen in The Blood of Dawnwalker

The Blood of Dawnwalker cinematic

In a Discord FAQ published by Rebel Wolves, the studio confirmed quite a few things and one of that is how magic is used in the game. The developers state, “Our magic is less flashy than that used in pure fantasy settings, and quite rare. It revolves around the occult — rituals, amulets, relics, and summonings, rather than fireballs or lightning bolts.”

The studio also confirmed that Dawnwalker will be a “narrative sandbox” rather than a linear game. “The story is totally nonlinear, it’s what we call “a narrative sandbox”. Each playthrough will be different, as the world changes based on your choices – not only direct ones, but also indirect. Your actions (or inactions) will matter too.” per Rebel Wolves.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term narrative sandbox, Rebel Wolves explains, “It means putting as much control over the narrative as possible into players’ hands; putting a maximum emphasis on player’s agency and freedom to explore storylines with one clear goal but many, many ways to achieve it.”

The Blood of Dawnwalker Will Have Romance Mechanics Confirmed

The developers also confirmed that we’ll be seeing romance in the game. Given that most action-RPGs have romance options as almost a staple for the character’s growth within the game, we weren’t exactly surprised by this, though it’s still nice to see it confirmed nonetheless.

Rebel Wolves confirm that “yes,” there will be romanceable characters, but more about that will be shared as they get closer to release.

Other notable tidbits revealed by the devs in the FAQ confirm that Coen is not a vampire, nor is he fully human, but a dawnwalker, which is explained as “Dawnwalkers look like regular humans during the day, but turn into vampires after dusk. However, they are neither humans nor vampires—but something in between.”

One key difference between the game and almost every vampire game/movie we’ve seen is how humans are turned into vampires. In movies and in games, vampires usually bite a human (preferably on the neck) to turn them into one of the undead. In Dawnwalker, vampires need to pull their fangs and insert it into a human’s heart to turn them, which sounds way more gruesome and brutal.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being developed by former CD Projekt RED devs under a new studio named Rebel Wolves. While there’s no release date yet, it is confirmed to be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Marvel Snap Down and Offline, as It Has Been Snapped Out of Existence for US Players Following TikTok Ban

[summaraize]

For those who play Marvel Snap and can’t access the app/game, it’s not just you. With no warning whatsoever, Marvel Snap has seemingly been pulled from app stores, with users reporting they no longer have access.

Why? Apparently it’s because of the TikTok ban, as owners ByteDance also own Nuverse, who happens to publish Marvel Snap.

Error: Invalid URL or the post is not found on this site.

No, This Isn’t Because of Thanos, It’s Because ByteDance Owns Nuverse

Update: Second Dinner has issued a statement.

If you go to the Apple App Store or Android Play Store, you’ll be greeted with the image above, where all ByteDance-owned properties seemingly have been pulled. This is due to the current legal controversy with the company, the US government and how US lawmakers deem the company as a national security risk.

The Supreme Court states, “As of January 19, the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act will make it unlawful for companies in the United States to provide services to distribute, maintain, or update the social media platform TikTok, unless U. S. operation of the platform is severed from Chinese control. Petitioners are two TikTok operating entities and a group of U. S. TikTok users. We consider whether the Act, as applied to petitioners, violates the First Amendment.”

For those outside the US, the game should be working for you. There is no word yet whether we’ll see any changes to this once Donald Trump assumes the presidency next week. Unfortunately, Second Dinner had no formal announcement, and we even got a balance patch a few days ago.

We’re monitoring the situation and will publish more news and updates as they become available.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Ranked Console Crossplay Only Coming In Season 2

[summaraize]

Competitive Call of Duty players on consoles will be glad to know that Season 2 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone is bringing a much-requested community feature: the ability to turn on console-only crossplay for ranked matches!

This news comes from Activision, which vows to improve the game’s anti-cheat system and servers, address several major bugs, and improve quality of life.

Call of Duty Console Players Will Run Into Cheaters Less Often During Ranked Matches Come Season 2

Call of Duty app update 1.063

In a lengthy article posted on the official Call of Duty website, Activision outlined some of the big changes coming during Season 2 for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Both games are set to receive new layers of security and detection for Richochet, the game’s anti-cheat tool. These improvements will continue into further seasons, with Season 3 promising new methods to detect legit players and target cheaters.

For servers, the team has also stated that they’ve improved stability and connectivity, hoping to address some of the disconnects and rubberbanding some players have had in recent months. However, they note that there are no one-size-fits solutions to some of these issues and will continue to monitor and improve things as more feedback is collected.

The post also listed several bug fixes and changes, but one of the biggest changes is that Ranked Play will get a console-only crossplay option. That means console players will no longer have to worry about PC players, who cheat more commonly and widely than on consoles due to how accessible it is.

“We’ve heard the feedback from players about wanting the choice to toggle cross-play in Ranked Play since its launch earlier this season, and in the spirit of improving the gameplay experience, we’re returning to the way we’ve traditionally handled cross-play. In Season 02, we are enabling the ability to disable cross-play for console players who want to compete only against other console players. ↳ This is currently in testing and is planned to go live for both Black Ops 6 Ranked Play and Warzone Ranked Play during S02. We’ll be monitoring closely and will consider further changes to prioritize the integrity of the ecosystem, and we’ll have more details to share as we get closer to the launch of this feature.”

However, while Black Ops 6 is expected to receive new content in addition to all of this, Activision confirmed that, with these changes, they had to decide to postpone the planned content for Warzone.

“Let’s talk about Season 02 for Call of Duty: Warzone. We’ve made the decision to prioritize focus on gameplay tuning, adding more quality of life, and addressing ongoing bugs. This means that in order to deliver meaningful improvements to our players, new content originally planned for Season 02 has been shifted to create bandwidth to address foundational issues. These improvements won’t come all at once – rather, they’ll be staggered across the season and with quite a few quality of life changes coming mid-season. Our priority is having the most solid foundation that Battle Royale can offer and are excited for players to see it all live.”

As disappointing as that news is, I think most of us can agree this is the right call, as online lobbies have been filled with cheaters despite the hundreds of thousands already banned. We’re glad that console-only ranked is finally coming, though that’s not to say it will prevent cheaters 100%. They still exist on consoles, there’s no denying that, but cheating isn’t as widely spread and accessible when compared to PC.

Hopefully, though, Activision will be able to find a better solution for PC players, as cheating will persist there as sellers, and the like, will continue to look for methods to circumvent Richochet.

Season 2 for Black Ops 6 and Warzone will launch on January 28.

Report: Unannounced Warhammer RPG Cancelled Due To Funding Issues

Last year was significant for the Warhammer franchise, highlighted by the much-anticipated launch of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, which became the most-played game in the series and one of the year’s top sellers on Steam. Additionally, an episode that follows up the events of Space Marines 2 was released for Amazon’s anthology series, Secret Level, and it’s been confirmed that a series set in the Warhammer 40K universe starring Henry Cavill is in development.

Given all this, it’s unsurprising that more Warhammer games are on the horizon. However, not everything is all sunshine and daisies, as recent discoveries indicate that a planned franchise game has been canceled in recent months.

A Developer Hit With Several Layoffs And a Cancellation

The canceled game in question was being developed by Thought Pennies, a studio founded in 2020 by Tim Erns, who previously worked on franchises like Star Wars and Final Fantasy. This studio, described on its website as an RPG games developer, was affected by rounds of layoffs in both 2023 and late 2024. The latter round was particularly devastating, as it followed a “change of strategic direction” by an unnamed publisher, leaving the studio’s current project without funding.

The project was described as a “multiplatform, social role-playing game.” Although it was never officially revealed, resumes from a few employees claim it was set in the Warhammer universe and ultimately canceled due to a lack of funding. The game was being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and had been in development since at least 2022, although it’s unclear if it started earlier.

One particular resume describes the game as a third person “Co-Op PvE Action RPG with a cast of unique heroes and playstyles,” featuring a mix of melee and ranged combat, and monstrous enemies set in a dark fantasy world. Although it doesn’t mention Warhammer, it’s evident that it refers to this franchise if we connect the dark fantasy description with the previous mentions. Other details mentioned are more technical, like the inclusion of enhanced combat feels with hit-pause and camera shake and immersive wall squeeze-through animations.

At the end, the publisher eventually decided to withdraw funding for the project, leading to another round of layoffs and the subsequent cancellation of the title. This is especially unfortunate considering the words of Daniel Erickson, the studio’s CCO, in his LinkedIn post, where he stated that the game’s development was progressing well and that they had great feedback. Sadly, it seems we won’t see the fruits of the studio’s years of work.

Fortunately for Warhammer fans, several other games in the franchise are currently in development. These include a sequel to the 2018 game Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus and an ambitious MMORPG developed by Jackalyptic Games and published by NetEase.

Blindfire Early Access Hands-On Preview – Turn Off the Lights

[summaraize]

Developer Double Eleven has spent most of their existence over the last 15 or so years helping to work on existing games or taking the reins of ports such as Red Dead Redemption, but they have also put out their own games, such as Prison Architect 2, after taking over development on the first game post-release. Blindfire is their latest original game, though, that has a very unique visual design, and we were able to give the game a try through Early Access.

Not Firing Blindly in the Dark

The main attraction for Blindfire is its blacklight aesthetic which is reminiscent of something like Ghostrunner almost. Regardless of which match type you are playing, every map will be pitch black, and you can’t see much except for a few lit objects. This level design is cool and has a lot of potential to provide some cool gameplay situations. The goal in each match is to find the opposition within this darkness to kill them before they can kill you, which is very difficult in the pitch-black setting. This is where you have a few tools available to help.

Firstly, you have an Echo that you consistently charge throughout each match and can unleash to light up specific objects like mannequins and such, but will also light up the trail of an enemy if they are nearby. In specific modes, you can also set traps while waiting to respawn that will shed more light on the opponent as best as I could tell, though it never really was a big help for me with how spread out the stages were and the few opponents I was able to match up against. When the opponent starts shooting, you can also see their trail and an arrow will show the direction you are being shot from, which can also help. However, most of the time you will already be dead or very low in health by discovering the enemy if you are already being shot.

I was a bit disappointed that there was no way to recover health that I could find, as that could definitely make things a bit more intense as you can narrowly escape from an opponent but be able to get healed, while the opponent thinks they’re hunting a wounded animal in a sense. Instead, you are pretty much down for the count if you are already hit unless you get a perfect jump on the enemy and surprise them.

With the game in Early Access, there were a limited number of game options available to use in the game. In this version, there were three game modes to choose from: Quickplay, Solo, and Squad. Solo mode is as it sounds, where you are a one-man army trying to face off against other single players. As of the Early Access period, the only two game options within Solo to be matched into are Bodycount and Kill Race. Squad, on the other hand, is the team-based option in the two match types of Team Bodycount and Team Kill Race. Quickplay is the wild card option where anything could get picked between Solo and Squad, but this is also where you will have a better chance of finding a match.

Kill Race and Team Kill Race has a ticking clock that lasts the entire one-round match, where the goal is to kill the opposition as many times as possible to rack up points. Killing the opponent does not end the round, however, as it just has a respawn period where you can set a trap on the map and then respawn. On the other hand, body Count and Team Bodycount work in a rotating round manner. For example, in Body Count, there are five rounds, and each round ends when everyone is dead except for one person. It then moves to round two and so forth until all five rounds are up and there is a winner based on the most points earned by kills and other means like taking first blood, taking no damage or assisting other players in taking someone out.

Pick Your Weapon

The method of weapon usage was also weird in the game, as you are limited to either a pistol or what appeared to be a shotgun of sorts. The problem is that you cannot choose which one you want before a match or anything; rather, it’ll just spawn. For instance, in Kill Race, it kept just respawning with the same weapon as the start since it’s continuous, but Bodycount occasionally would give a different weapon in some rounds. For the way this game worked, though, I wish the map had other weapons lying around so that it could give some players an advantage for being strategic around the map by scavenging rather than just playing a game of cat and mouse in the dark only. There are explosive barrels you can utilize, but they felt like they weren’t even worth using most of the time, either, due to the layout of the maps.

My biggest problem with Blindfire when trying to play was a lack of finding matches. When you try to go into a match, it’ll start by trying to find eight or more players before it starts to eventually whittle down into six or more, four or more, and eventually down to just one other opponent for solo play if necessary. Unfortunately, this was a major problem for me, and I’d get one person to match eventually if I was lucky. Otherwise, I’d have to try again.

Before the matchmaking phase between Quickplay, Solo, and Squad, you can also invite friends who also have the game to help alleviate finding matches. However, you also will need to have friends playing the game as well for that to be a possibility, which was not the case for me. What Blindfire really needs, though, is an offline option to play against bots to allow for practice and at least something to do when you can’t find a player match. The game isn’t the greatest at explaining things either, so it would be nice to have this as a practice mode to prepare people for online matches.

The Elite 10 section of the main menu shows your total wins, kills, and points. Even though it says this, I had matches that did not register on this, so I’m not sure if that is a glitch if this is a work in progress overall, or if it just has a delay to when stats are added. Considering the very unique blacklight aesthetic in Blindfire, choosing your character’s equipment is very important. Within the Locker section, you can adjust your character’s physique, skin tone, visor, upper body, gloves, pants, sneakers, and weapon. There are some cool options to choose from here, so it’s well worth looking at. I could see this getting some additions as the game continues onward, with so many options that could be added here.

Blindfire is a great example of a game with an intriguing premise that has not hit the mark so far. It has some good ideas with how it is set up, but it just felt like so much more could be done there to make things much more interesting and user-friendly. Hopefully, the developer will take note of user feedback and add to the game over time since it is only in Early Access as of this time, which maybe will bring in a much larger player base since it was very hard to find a match even across platforms. Having a dedicated player base could do wonders for a game like this with potential, and I would like to see it grow moving forward.

MP1st was given access to an Early Access build of Blindfire for our hands-on. Blindfire is currently available in Early Access for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
