  • PlayStation®4: ~5.31 GB

NEW ADDITIONS

FULL SYNCHRONIZATION CHALLENGE

Do you think you’ve experienced everything Assassin’s Creed Mirage has to offer? Our newest game mode Full Synchronization Challenge (a.k.a. permadeath) is the ultimate test of your assassin skills.

When enabled, Basim will desynchronize from the animus if he dies, or if he commits illegal actions (e.g. killing citizens, going outside of authorized map locations).

When Basim desynchronizes from the animus, instead of the usual desynchronized reload screen, a new display appears showing statistics of gameplay time, total amount of conflicts, cause of the death, number of enemies killed, assassin rank and difficulty chosen to play.

There are no second chances – your save file will be permanently deleted, so perfect your skills to keep Basim alive!

Additional details:

  • You can enable the Full Synchronization Challenge when starting a new game from the title screen.
  • Full Synchronization Challenge cannot be enabled or disabled when the game has started.
  • Cross-progression AND Cloud saves will be disabled when starting permadeath.

FULL SYNCHRONIZATION CHALLENGE REWARDS

  • Unlock an emblem when you complete the game in easy mode.
  • Unlock the emblem and Rayhan costume in normal mode.
  • Unlock all the above and 6 new dyes for existing outfits (Initiate, Zanj Uprising, Abbasid Knight, Hidden Ones, Rostam, Bayek) when completed in hard. (Please note; dyes can only be applied to these specific outfits).

NEW OUTFIT FEATURE

Added a new feature where players can now wear any costume they own as an outfit (Transmog).

NEW EASTER EGG!

We added a surprise easter egg to the world, a new special assassin that you might meet purrusing the streets. Be sure to snap a photo if you meownage to find them!

BUG FIXING

GENERAL

  • Fixed visual issues on Basim’s right arm when the player equipped the Bayek outfit or costume.
  • Fixed an issue in the store where the sword preview models contained in packs could disappear in certain cases.

  • Multiple stability improvements.

  • Fixed a physics issue when jumping with the Roshan costumes.
  • Reward notifications now appear correctly after finishing the main quest and coming back to Baghdad during a New Game Plus walkthrough.
  • Adjusted the hidden blade position whilst player is equipping the Bayek outfit or costume.

  • Music now properly plays whilst on the inventory menu.

MISC

  • Update to game credits.
  • Fixed some lighting issues.

CAUTION SPOILERS AHEAD!

  • Fixed an issue where players could re-collect the mysterious shards in New Game Plus when they were already collected in the first walkthrough.
  • Fixed an issue where the player could re-collect the Lost Books in New Game Plus when they previously collected them in their first walkthrough.
  • A Dance with Thieves: Murjana’s second clue is optional and isn’t required to complete the quest. It will only show on the investigation board if the player interacts with the letter while Fuladh is in Harbiyah Bureau.
  • Guilded Butterflies: fixed an issue where some players couldn’t attend the great auction.
  • The Marked Coins: Fixed an issue where the NPC “The Hidden One” levitated towards the roof when slightly ahead of the player.

Stellar Blade Graphical Modes Include Performance, Resolution and Balanced

What we’ve seen so far of Stellar Blade has been good so far, but when actually playing the action game, players will be able to toggle on what they prioritize more in terms of performance. Stellar Blade will feature three graphical modes, and these should be familiar to PlayStation gamers.

Stellar Blade Technical Director Dong-Gi Lee revealed to German publication Play3 what players can expect come launch in terms of performance for the Shift Up’s debut PS5 game.

Stellar Blade Graphical Modes:

  • Performance Mode: Offers 60fps (frames-per-second)
  • Resolution Mode: Outputs in 4K resolution
  • Balanced Mode: Offers a balance between the two modes

If past games are any indication, Balanced Mode should offer a dynamic resolution and and a frame rate targeting 60fps…or at least it should.

While Steller Blade’s graphical modes aren’t really all that surprising, would-be players might be pleasantly surprised to know that the game will take 25 hours to finish, and even 30-50 hours for full completion.

If you’re keen on buying the game already, check out the different editions and pre-order bonuses you can get here.

Stellar Blade launches on April 26 exclusively for PS5.

Helldivers 2 Down With Server Capacity Issues This Feb. 19 as Devs Announce New Fixes for Tomorrow

While Arrowhead Game Studios has been working non-stop to alleviate the technical issues plaguing Helldivers 2, that hasn’t been enough, as loads of gamers are once again having issues. Multiple Helldivers 2 down reports have surfaced, with most gamers citing the server capacity issue as the main deterrent.

Helldivers 2 Down With Server Capacity Issues This Feb. 19 Status:

Multiple threads about the topic has recently been posted on the game’s subreddit:

It’s noon on a Monday how are the servers full
byu/Brylonious_prime inHelldivers

When do I get to play the game? How do I fix this?
byu/TheCoolMan5 inHelldivers

While Arrowhead Game Studios hasn’t acknowledged the server issues for today just yet, the devs did reveal that a patch is incoming tomorrow, which will roll out more login, server improvements.

Here’s the announcement form the studio via the Helldivers Discord channel:

“Hello there Helldivers!

We have improvements rolling out this week focused on the most serious problems in the game: login, matchmaking, and server load. You will see one update for PC and PS5 tomorrow, though please keep in mind that no single update will solve all the issues. Rather, we will be making continuous improvements over the days and weeks to come.

We’re all working hard to make sure that the game is a stable place to spread Managed Democracy to every planet in the galaxy.”

As you can see from the message, do NOT expect this patch to fix every technical issue. Given how prolific the studio has been with pumping out updates, expect more of these to be dished out in the coming days.

As for other issues, the community has been able to help with fixes of their own. We just posted a fix for matchmaking issues on PC, and even a black screen crash fix as well.

If Arrowhead releases new info about today’s server issues, we’ll update the article to keep our readers posted.

PlayStation Portal Hacked to Play PlayStation Portable Games

While the PlayStation Portal was built to play PS5 games via Remote Play, it looks like the homebrew scene managed to craft a new use for it and that’s to play PlayStation Portable (PSP) games!

The people responsible for this is the group called “The Flow” which has an extensive hacking history when it comes to PlayStation consoles and handhelds. This announcement was made by Andy Nguyen, who is part The Flow, whom have been at the center of some recent developments in the PS5 hacking scene.

Now, before anyone gets too excited about this, just because the group confirmed they can do this doesn’t mean they are releasing how anytime soon. Expect them to tease this further, with the actual release being months (and maybe even years) away. Also, we are expecting Sony to patch this in one of their numerous system updates.

Would you get a PlayStation Portal if the way to do this makes its way out into the wild? I have to admit, I might consider getting a Portal then. For those not familiar with the PSP, it’s the first dedicated PlayStation handheld gaming device released in 2004 (JP) and in 2005 in the US. While it failed to match Nintendo’s chokehold on handheld gaming, it did carve a niche of its own, and the device event got multiple revisions along the way. Up to this day, it is still a hot ticket among the gaming community but mostly for its homebrew capabilities more than playing its handful of exclusive games.

Helldivers 2 Matchmaking Fix Discovered for PC

Finding zero players to matchmake with on Helldivers 2 on PC? Yeah, you’re not the only one. It seems there is an issue about that happening to gamers now. Thankfully, a Helldivers 2 matchmaking fix for PC has surfaced, and it seems to do the trick!

Before doing this fix/workaround, do note that this modifies the game files somewhat, and we can’t say whether Arrowhead considers this a bannable offense, so proceed at your own discretion.

Helldivers 2 Matchmaking Fix (Steam):

Players on Steam can use the pre-update game.dll file to enable matchmaking again.

Download the game.dll put the older pre update .dll in this folder location (x:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\data\game). — Make sure to back up your original game.dll file just in case.

Download link for game.dll file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t2gIZvo19FrW6RJHPx3c2T2Y2gOu8oVF/view

For those wary of clicking the link (as you should be), you can check out this virus scan link: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/077c4d84f52f4310aae393e3394d63a98101d8e164f5396ea4c6d99edc7d69f1

That’s about it. This isn’t the only community-crafted fix for the game, as a fix black screen bug fix has also been found, which you can read about here. Expect Arrowhead Game Studios to patch these issues in an upcoming update.

Marvel’s Wolverine Gameplay Footage Leaks, Features Lots of Stabbing

In case you didn’t know, late last year, Insomniac Games was the target of a ransomware attack that resulted in a ton of the studio’s plans and data being spread online. While we’ve seen screenshots and even snippets of footage, we have now what seems to be our first look at Marvel’s Wolverine gameplay!

Note that the gameplay being shared online now and what’s embedded below is from pre-alpha footage, and as such, is not representative of the final build. Also, if you’d rather see the game revealed officially, then I suggest steering away from the video.

Again, I want to stress that this is EARLY gameplay footage and as such, is not representative of the final game. Heck, we don’t even know when it’ll be released.

What Did Insomniac Games Do Regarding the Hack?

Aside from taking down videos, screenshots and more, the studio did release a statement about it. Parts of it touch on Marvel’s Wolverine production and how the hack affected the studio. “We are aware that the stolen data includes personal information belonging to our employees, former employees, and independent contractors. It also includes early development details about Marvel’s Wolverine for PlayStation 5. We continue working quickly to determine what data was impacted. We want everyone to enjoy the games we develop as intended and as our players deserve. However, like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in early production and will no doubt greatly evolve throughout development, as do all our plans.”

Other than Wolverine, other stuff that surfaced include Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s budget, and the big one, which is Insomniac Games’ project roadmap that revealed the titles the studio has coming down the pipeline for years to come.

Marvel’s Wolverine has no release date, but you can’t blame gamers for being excited about t given how well Insomniac has managed to craft the Spider-Man games. Speaking of which, that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has already crossed over 10 million copies sold, and is even getting a new significant game update in the first week of March.

Helldivers 2 Down With Matchmaking Issues This Feb. 18; Quickplay Fix Outlined

It’s another day, and it seems another server problem for Helldivers 2. Multiple players have reported on Helldivers 2 being down, with people having matchmaking issues (unable to match with other players), and seeing the “server at capacity” error message this February 18.

Helldivers 2 Down With Matchmaking Issues Status for Feb. 18:

The Helldivers 2 subreddit has been littered with gamers stating that they cannot find matches, with some running into the black screen issue (thankfully, we have a fix for that here).

Matchmaking
byu/Hiro_Muramasa inHelldivers

Impossible to find a match
byu/uticacoffeeroast inHelldivers

Yep, there’s more of those kind of threads but you get the idea. While Arrowhead Game Studios hasn’t acknowledged the issues for today just yet, we are hoping they are working on it right now. If you are having issues with Quickplay (most likely so if you’re reading this) then here’s a workaround that might work for you (it did the trick based on our testing).

Helldivers 2 Quickplay Fix:

  1. Hit “R” to start a quick match
  2. Immediately click an Operation to open the “pick one of the three missions” prompt
  3. Your search should pop in a second or two (difficulty random).

Hopefully, that does the trick. Once Arrowhead issues an announcement or update about this downtime, we’ll be sure to add it in the article.

Helldivers 2 Concurrent Player Count Peaks at 500K; Steam Hits New All-Time High of Over 340K

Just over a week ago, we reported that Helldivers 2 managed to hit an incredible Steam concurrent player count high of 100,000 players. Well, that’s not only old news, but that number has been obliterated. Arrowhead Game Studios has revealed that (for now) the Helldivers 2 concurrent player peak has managed to hit 500,000!

This was revealed by Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt in answering a fan on Twitter/X:

Not only that, but the game established a new Steam all-time high of 345,759 today (via Steam Charts)! This blows past the former high of 100K, and will be a hard number to beat for any PlayStation release on PC.

Bear in mind, the game is still having server issues. Imagine if this didn’t have any problem at all. This number could reach even higher. Hopefully, the devs can sustain this momentum with good word of mouth, and if possible a steady trickle of post-launch content, of which, the devs promised we’ll see plenty of — and for free!

For those still on the fence, head on over here for our in-depth review.

Helldivers 2 Black Screen on Start Up Fix and Workaround Detailed

While we already reported on a fix for the Helldivers 2 black screen issue, we have another one which we can also confirm works! Read on for the Helldivers 2 black screen on start up fix and workaround step-by-step instructions.

Note that this fix also has a step-by-step guide on creating a game and inviting randoms too.

Helldivers 2 Black Screen on Start Up Fix for PC:

Reminder: Skip the “servers are full” screen

  1. Go to Steam discussions
  2. Find somebody in-game
  3. Go to their profile
  4. Click “Join Game”
  5. Alt tab for a few minutes while it sits on the black screen

Fix for Creating a Game and Inviting Anonymous People

  1. Get to your ship
  2. Set to public
  3. Go to your own Steam profile
  4. Right click where it says join game
  5. Copy link address
  6. Post in threads
  7. Anons who join you skip the “servers are full” screen. They just have to sit in the black screen for a few minutes

We can confirm the fix listed here works. Hopefully, Arrowhead releases a title update that full resolves this issue without the need for a workaround.

While Helldivers 2’s server situation might still be in an issue, the good thing here is, the devs are checking and fixing it non-stop. There’s also free DLC on the way to ease the pain a bit. Also of note, go play the game right now, as the bonus XP and requisitions buffs are still active.

Helldivers 2 Review – PlayStation’s Most Buggiest Game Yet

PlayStation games typically launch with minimal bugs, but in the case of Helldivers 2, it seems the developers, Arrowhead Game Studios, have allowed quite a few — a few thousands — to slip by. Luckily, there’s a solution to fix all those problems, and that solution, if you would believe it, is spreading good ole democracy across the universe. So grab a shotgun, it’s time to do your part.

Starship Troopers Meets Terminator for One Perfect Cinematic Action-Packed Game

If it wasn’t obvious, the review titling is a pun and by no means indicates that Helldivers 2 is some technical and graphical mess of the game. Quite the opposite, actually; putting server and matchmaking issues aside, Helldivers 2, from my own experience, has been a near-flawless experience on both PS5 and PC. The PS5 performance holds a rock solid 60 frames-per-second, and on my Nvidia 3080 and 4090 PC builds, I can push beyond that, with most settings set to Ultra and at 4K. Even with the right settings, the game runs decently smooth on the Steam Deck if you aim for 45FPS.

The game is relatively “bug-free,” outside of minor things that aren’t detrimental to the experience. But that’s not to say the game has no issues with bugs. In fact, it’s quite a BIG issue, one that spans across an entire galaxy. I’m talking about the Terminids, a faction of insects that the governments of Super Earth swear are ruthless expansionists that will one day devour the entire universe, killing the freedom that Super Earth loves propagandizing.

The reality isn’t as funny as all the marketing, both in-game and real-life, paints it out to be, as those who pay closely to the lore scattered through the world will realize that the Helldivers are being misled so that Super Earth can mine exotic resources from these infested planets that are just bug farms. The war from the first game may be over, but for the citizens of Super Earth, it’s a means of exploitation by their government that threatens all other factions across the galaxy. Super Earth, in truth, is the villain of this universe, and the Helldivers are just its slaves, believing any lies they’re fed.

At least that’s what the lies of traitors are saying, and I’m no traitor. I would gladly give my life for our great nation if it means freedom can be spread to every inch of the galaxy. Let those who say otherwise be imprisoned and executed for their crimes against democracy.

It’s all satirical, something we’ve seen in the Starship Trooper series that Arrowhead Game Studios beautifully captures through in-game commercials, chatter, and character banters, as well as through real-life marketing to recruit us into this never-ending war.

But the story isn’t the focus of Helldivers 2, as this is an online multiplayer built up as a GaaS (Games as a Service), which I’ll talk more about later.

From a gameplay perspective, Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter with some extraction shooter mechanics (but it’s not one). The goal of each mission varies, but ultimately, you set out to land on planets to complete tasks that involve destroying nests and facilities and collecting data. Between all that, you scavage for different resources that can be spent on better gear and cosmetics. If you die, you lose it, but it can be picked up again or from another teammate. Progression isn’t tied to specific players either, which is something extraction shooters are known for. All earned currency is shared, alleviating the risk of losing rewards.

The gunplay and combat are very accessible for anyone to pick up, and in general, it feels great. There are plenty of guns to pick from, though there are some I do wish had more punch to them.

One thing I’m not too big on is the lack of tactical dodge. There’s a dolphin dive that takes inspiration from Max Payne and The Last of Us Part 2, where you can dive forwards and backward, but the time it takes to get back up can be very risky and has accounted for some deaths when trying to get away from the faster enemy types. I’d love to see a tactical dodge introduced, even if it means a cooldown needs to be added to not abuse it; that way, we have a better alternative to avoid damage during tighter situations.

Still, the gunplay feels good, and for most players, that’ll be all that matters and enough to get them hooked on the general loop of the game.

That all comes together for a community-driven experience, with a galactic map tracking the efforts of Helldivers as they spread democracy to each planet. For every planet cleared, the nations of Super Earth gain more planets under their control, eventually reaching the galaxy’s end. For every milestone reached and planet liberated, this unlocks more planets we can travel to, with their own unique biomes and enemy variations.

Helldivers 2 Update 1.000.005

The planets themselves are procedurally generated but offer several different biomes and structures, so it never feels like you’re playing the same map repeatedly. That’s not to say you can’t grow tired, but the game makes planets feel different with each visit.

But it’s playing with friends, and even randoms, where Helldivers 2 truly shines. I’m not one to agree that a game is only good if you play with friends, and though Helldivers 2 can be played solo, you’ll have a hard time with the difficulty dynamically ramping up during missions. Helldivers 2 also focuses on playing with others, so it makes more sense than many other games that have co-op added to chase GaaS. Perhaps Arrowhead Games can better balance the solo experience in upcoming patches, but you should go into this game with the mindset that you’ll need the help of other players.

The talk of the game that I’m sure everyone sees on socials is how all of this comes together for what truly feels like a “cinematic” experience. At the moment, Helldivers 2 has two factions: the Terminids (bugs) and Automatons (robots). There are different hierarchies of enemies within each faction, which aren’t just reskins and recoloring. They feel like true threats in their own ways.

Going up against the Terminids feels like jumping into a Starship Trooper movie. You and three others against hordes of bugs that grow overwhelmingly the longer you stay on their planet. They’ll pop out of any crevice, with nests littered everywhere.

Massive armored rhino-like bugs will spawn, relentlessly hunting you down. At your arsenal, you have your weapons, field upgrades, and call-in-ins like orbital airstrikes. This makes me a battlefield drenched in chaos, and if you aren’t careful enough, friendlies can be caught up in the crossfire.

Helldivers 2 sales

Then there’s the Automatons, robots inspired by James Cameron’s Terminator franchise. They can’t be bargained with. They can’t be reasoned with. They don’t feel pity, remorse, or fear, and they absolutely will not stop. The Automatons are the embodiment of a Terminator, as you and your teammates will unload full clips into them with barely any damage done. Even if you shoot off their limbs, they’ll still come at you until they’ve been completely destroyed.

Their planets are harsh, filled with facilities building more robots to patrol the area with airships occupying the skies. If they’re alerted to your presence, it turns into an all-out war, the kind that Terminator fans have been dreaming to experience. Lasers will beam across your shoulder as you take cover behind a small piece of rubble, with an army of robots slowly inching toward you. It’s absolutely terrifying.

These are the moments players live for and why they’ll likely stick around for a very long time. It’s the equivalent to the “only in Battlefield” moments that DICE has with their franchise of games.

Helldivers 2 is just pure galactic fun.

But just because it’s fun doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvements, such as streamlining the UI and providing better explanations on specific mechanics and some gameplay tweaks, like Dolphin Dive having a shorter animation. Having a new player jump into action with me, they were loaded with a million questions about some of the stuff that the game didn’t explain too well. There are a lot of menus to go through, and some stuff can be confusing and overwhelming when you’re looking at it. It’s not that it’s hard to read, just that it can be presented better.

Progression could be improved, too, as there isn’t a real sense of growth. You can buy and unlock new weapons and the like, but there’s no improving those things. The gun you have will be the same gun you use 100 matches later. It’s like that with any gear outside of the ship upgrades.

Weapons can use balancing, too. If you pay close attention to the damage info, there are some things that don’t seem to align correctly, such as one gun type out damaging another that would normally be the other way around. Nitpicks, if I’m being honest, all of which will be fixed in the coming months.

The biggest thing on the player’s mind is content and missing features. Helldivers 2 will probably be supported for years; it’s the nature of a GaaS title. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed by the lack of vehicles, something the first game had. Mechs are already confirmed to be coming, so again, this will be fixed over time, but it does give it a bit of an early-access feeling. I’ve never been a fan of the whole “it’ll come later” that GaaS games always introduce as an excuse not to have certain content at launch.

Though to be fair, Arrowhead Game Studios’ approach to GaaS may be one of the best I’ve seen recently.

A GaaS That Doesn’t Care If You Spend Money (and It’s Not Pay to Win)

Whenever someone hears the term “Games as a Service,” aka “GaaS,” the room is instantly filled with groans of displeasure. By nature, GaaS titles are designed to be as addictive and as grindy as possible because the longer it takes a player to do something, the more time they’ll invest in said game. The more time someone puts into a game, the higher the chance someone ends up spending real money.

Because of that, GaaS is usually filled to the brim with microtransactions, locking away certain aspects that would have been free if the game had been released a few decades back. These typically end up being cosmetics and non-gameplay mechanics, though we’ve seen some aggressive pay-to-win situations before with weapons and such being locked behind a wall.

But in the case of Helldivers 2, there are no pay-to-win elements despite what some have said. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that is being offered for sale in the cosmetic and battle shop can all be unlocked for free. This is with the exception of the Super Citizen Edition, which does have some exclusive cosmetics, access to the “premium pass,” and a weapon, but that weapon is no stronger than what the game offers for free.

Helldivers 2 Down

Here’s the kicker, though: that “premium pass” that everyone seems to be calling out as “pay-to-win,” even though this is a co-op game, it’s entirely free to buy, just like everything else in the storefront.

The only advantage you get from spending money is early access to cosmetics and premium pass content. Otherwise, you can grind out what are called “Super Credits,” and it doesn’t even take that long to get $10 worth of it for the premium pass. After a few hours of game time, I managed to net 500 Super Credits, half of the 1000 needed for the pass.

Unless this changes, you could play through Helldivers 2 and own every piece of equipment, cosmetics, and even premium passes without spending a single dollar. Again, the only perk to using money is for early access to start the pass or buy cosmetics without needing to grind. Most players probably won’t, too, as the grind is generously rewarding, with an apparent bug that will be fixed to increase the rewards.

In this day and age, that’s almost unheard of, as many GaaS titles out there LOVE locking their best cosmetics behind a hefty paywall. Arrowhead Game Studios didn’t need to do this for the players; they could have released this already budget price game and loaded it up with microtransactions while locking the player base from it with no other means to acquire such items without forking real cash. It certainly would have invoked anger among fans, but the nature of being GaaS and already cheap, to begin with, would have made it more understandable.

They didn’t, though, and because of that, the game is seeing massive success. There may be issues with it, but as a player, you can tell Arrowhead Game Studios built this with a labor of love. They put players before profit.

Yes, this could change down the road. They could make the grind purposely worse and do a bunch of other “what if” scenarios, but as of now, everything you see you can earn for free. It’s a healthy promotion of what a GaaS should strive for—packed with content without locking anything behind a paywall and being in your face to spend money on it.

Would developers and publishers like you to spend money on their in-game shop? Of course, they would; any GaaS would. But the game isn’t purposely built to make you realize it wants you to spend that money. It wants you to play the game, have fun, and reap the rewards.

Doing Our Part

With no roadmap and little knowledge of what’s to come for Helldivers 2, it’ll be interesting to see where the game goes in the following months and possibly years. One thing is sure, though, and that’s that Arrowhead Game Studios has crafted brilliant multiplayer, one that puts the players first above all else. It is mindless and addicting fun that calls back to that classic era of multiplayer games, where it wasn’t about how much you could nickel and dime someone but how much fun players could have.

Score: 8.5/10

Pros:

  • Endless hours of fun. Randomized missions keep things fresh each time, no matter how many times you play in the same biomes.
  • An incredible co-op experience to play with friends.
  • The gunplay feels great, though it could use an improved dodge.
  • Hilarious and dark lore if you look into it.
  • Captures Starship Troopers and Terminator vibes perfectly.

Cons:

  • The progression system could be expanded to offer a better sense of growth. It’s pretty barebones.
  • Performance and crashes are persistent. It will likely be fixed eventually, but for now, be warned.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Endings Guide – How to Get All the Different Outcomes

Don’t Nod has a special touch for storytelling and compelling narratives in their titles, and Banishers is no different. The game features five different conclusions depending on your choices throughout its story, with two endings being nearly identical. Today, we’ve got a guide on all Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden endings and how to achieve each one.

We’ve said this in all of our guides, but it applies here more than ever: massive spoiler warning! We’ll be detailing each ending pretty thoroughly, so if you haven’t played through the game at least once yourself, we recommend doing so before you read on.

With that said, let’s get started.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Endings Guide and How to Get Each One:

The ending you get centers around the game’s Blame and Ascend mechanics. With several main story beats and all of the game’s Haunting Cases bringing these mechanics into play, your choices will matter significantly for achieving each ending. We’ll start with the Ascend endings:

Ascend Antea: All Ascents/Banishes (Good Ending)

This ending is achievable by choosing to Ascend or Banish most, if not all, of the ghosts you come across throughout the story. You’ll also have to swear a vow to Ascend Antea at a pivotal moment in the story. If you succeed at doing all of this correctly, then Red and Antea will share a tender farewell after the final boss battle and Antea will dissolve into the aether. Charles’ monologue at the end will paint Red’s fate in a happy light, with him taking the happy memories of Antea on his future journeys and eventually sharing the story of her with his children and pupils as an old, grizzled Banisher.

Ascend Antea: Some Blames (Neutral Ending)

If you make the vow to ascend Antea but end up killing just a few humans by Blaming them through the course of your playthrough, you’ll receive a twisted version of the Good Ending. After Red sends Antea’s spirit to the afterlife, you’ll get a narration describing Red’s struggles with the guilt he feels over the lives he took on his journey across New Eden. It’ll end with him visiting Antea’s family in Cuba and telling them of her triumphs in an effort to move on from the shame that haunts him. In order to get this ending, you’ll have to lean pretty heavily on Ascensions/Banishes, since if you Blame too many people you’ll end up with the Worst Ending instead.

Successfully Resurrect Antea: Mostly Blames (Bad Ending)

If you make the vow to resurrect Antea through the dangerous Lesser Palingenesis ritual, you’ll have to Blame as many people as possible in order to succeed with the ritual and resurrect Antea. Any more than a few Ascensions/Banishes will result in the Worst Ending. If you succesfully prioritize Blames, the two protagonists will share a touching moment as they reunite and depart the Meetinghouse. Afterwards, however, the narrator will highlight the pain and guilt the couple feels over all they’ve had to do to bring Antea back, and he’ll hint that their taste for blood and murder might have become a mainstay in the years that follow.

Fail Your Vow: Not Enough Blames/Ascensions (Worst Ending)

In order to achieve one of the better endings, you have to fully commit to one path or the other. If you falter too much from either and Ascend/Blame more than one or two individuals, you’ll suffer a much worse fate. After attempting to either resurrect or Ascend Antea, it will fail, causing Deborah’s vengeful spirit to return and overtake the Meetinghouse once more. The witch Seeker will appear and attempt to prevent Deborah’s wrath, but she’ll be overpowered by The Nightmare’s renewed strength, aging her forward and revealing her to be the witch Siridean. Red will then be sent back in time to the cave by the beach for his transgressions, forced to live the same loop over again until he’s corrected his mistakes.

Note: The above ending is technically two different endings. That being said, they’re both accomplished by failing to fulfill your promise to Antea either way, and they’ll both result in the same cutscene after the initial attempt to do what you promised her. As such, we’ve included them under the same heading.

If you’d rather just watch these than play them yourself, you can check out all of them in the video below:

That’s all the endings for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden! While they’re each compelling in their own right, the journey is what truly makes this game special. We highly recommend checking it out for yourself.

We’ve got all sorts of guides for the game up on the site right now, so take a look around. We’ll have to more to share on the game soon, so be sure to stay tuned in to MP1st.

Devs Explain Why Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Endgame Got Patched First Before Server and Login Issues

Just the other day, Rocksteady Studios released their first-ever client patch for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. While the studio did touch on bug fixes, it was surprising to see that a gameplay adjustment that essentially nerfed the burn damage took priority over the technical issues, which we assumed was more important.

In the latest  Developer Update for Suicide Squad: KTJL, Rocksteady explains their reasoning behind, though they acknowledged that login and server issues are the “top priority.”

Why Did Rocksteady Release an Endgame Bug and Balancing Patch First?

According to the studio, balancing changes can be done by the design teams with little to no need for code support. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for server and login issues, and designers cannot fix these said issues. So the balancing changes were made since the studio doesn’t want to “delay changes” that can be implemented quickly, and “will improve parts of the game.”

Long story short: Rocksteady has different teams working on different issues parallel, and they do not want to delay changes that the studio believes will improve parts of the game.

Why Aren’t the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Server and Login Issues Fixed?

Rocksteady admits they need to do better, though also states that it is not an easy nut to crack because it’s not just one single issue. It’s several smaller issues that are affecting some players in different ways.

What Are the Next Changes Coming in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?

Aside from the server and login issues which are being worked on, here are some of the topics the studio confirmed are being adjusted in a future update:

Changes to the Promethium Game Loop – Rocksteady says they are seeing an imbalance where players need to play too many Metropolis missions to get Promethium for Incursion missions, Killing Time or the Mayhem missions. To solve this, the studio is making a big and fundamental change to the loop as Running Hell will reward 3000 Promethium for completing Tier 1, and each subsequent tier will reward an increasing amount of Promethium. Once the change is made, Raising Hell will be the best way to farm Promethium fast.

This change will mean that players will get to explore and interact with Metropolis in new ways.

Mutator Balancing: Boom and Affliction Immunity – The studio is considering excluding Suicide Strikes and Shield Harvesting from triggering Boom, so that players can still use all their abilities, but will still have to consider your positioning carefully when taking on enemies with other attacks.

Rocksteady is also considering modifying the Affliction Immunity so that the effect will be removed from enemies whenever they take damage, rather than just critical hits. The devs hope that these changes open up build and playstyle possibilities.

Lower Tier Legendary Items – The studio’s intent for Legendary gear is that it would be a viable part of endgame builds, and in some cases, even be cornerstone items. Rocksteady believes there is room for some of the lesser used Legendary items to find a use with more experimentation, as some of these lower tiered Legendary items are not really being used in endgame builds, given they can’t keep with the raw stats that other Legendary, Notorious and Infamy set items have.

Before the studio acts on this, they are asking the players if they have discovered a Legendary that they think will work great in a build, but is not being used due to the item falling behind in terms of damage output, or the item being too situational or something else — the studio wants to know.

Once we have more info on when the next patch is dropping, we’ll let our readers know.
