Lords of the Fallen Post-Launch Support Discussed by Devs, New Content Will Depend on Player Feedback

While Lords of the Fallen is now confirmed to take gamers 30 or so hours to complete, gamers will be glad to know that there’s no cut content set to later be sold as DLC, as developer HexWorks’ Lords of the Fallen post-launch content support is based on how players receive the game initially.

Speaking to MP1st during our hands-on preview of the game, HexWorks’ studio boss Saul Gascon mentioned that outside of the usual improvements and post-launch patches, content isn’t being planned yet, though that will change if the community asks for more of the game.

MP1st: In terms of post-launch content, does Hexworks have something in mind already, or is the game more of a traditional action rpg in the sense that once you’ve finished the single-player story, you’re essentially done?

Saul Gascon –  We have several things in mind that will all depend on us from the community feedback – how people ask for more, right? So basically, we have to plan ahead, which is our original plan, working on the next one. But if the community asks for more content, we might have a bit of an effort to create more content for this game we’re launching right now, this year. It’ll depend a lot on that.

Then on top of this, we’re gonna be supporting post-launch with free updates for people, like improvements, requests, and feedback. We’ll be doing that for at least like six months to one year after launch, based on the request that we receive. That’s something that we’re going to be doing post-launch.

While most games these days have some sort of seasonal content already planned even before the actual game is released, that doesn’t really apply to action-RPGs that focus on single-player more than anything else. One perfect example of this is Elden Ring, as the game’s first major content expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree was announced just this year.

Let’s hope Lords of the Fallen becomes a big enough hit that HexWorks will feel that they need to develop more content for the game.

Lords of the Fallen will be released this October 13 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Report: PS5 Slim Case Alleged Video Surfaces

Earlier today, images of what were purported to be of the unannounced PS5 Slim console surfaced, which was said to have come from China.

Well, it seems things have escalated a bit, as now, a video showing off the PS5 Slim case has surfaced as well!

No official word from Sony yet, but based on the images and the video, the PS5 Slim has the same thickness, and is not really a slim but looks more like a refreshed version of the original, though with a black slit added to the cover and two USB Type-C ports on the front (something the original sorely needs).

Bear in mind, nothing has been announced by Sony, so this could be a fake console cover or something else. That said, Sony developing a PS5 slim version is something that isn’t only plausible, but something we’re expecting given the success of the PS4 Pro.

If this is indeed the size of the PS5 Slim, it’s nothing to write home about. Of course, I’ll reserve judgment if and when we finally see the thing from official sources.

TMNT: The Last Ronin Reveal Trailer Released

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game “TMNT: The Last Ronin” was announced by THQ Nordic five months ago, and we now have the reveal trailer for it courtesy of the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase!

Check out the trailer below, though there’s not a lot to be gleamed from it.

Who is the Last Ronin? In a future, battle-ravaged New York City, a lone surviving Turtle embarks on a seemingly hopeless mission seeking justice for the family he lost.

From the minds of the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and based on the best-selling comic book event by Eastman, Waltz, Bishop, Delgado, and the Escorza Brothers: the official video game adaptation of TMNT: The Last Ronin.

According to the announcement previously, the gameplay will be similar to God of War, which is one huge claim to make.

Hopefully, we get to see actual gameplay of it soon.

TMNT: The Last Ronin is in development by Black Forest Games (Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed, Fade to Silence), and is set for release on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Remnant 2 Update for August 11 on PC Brings Loads of Fixes, Patch Notes Listed

Gunfire Games has released a Remnant 2 update for PC, which players will see as patch version 384,210. This brings a ton of improvements and bug fixes once again, which include optimization, crash bugs, quality of life improvements and more. Read on for the full Remnant 2 update 384,210 patch notes for August 11 below.

Remnant 2 Update for August 11 Patch Notes | Remnant 2 Update 384,210 Patch Notes:

–Performance and Crashes–

  • Ongoing optimizations to improve overall performance.
  • Fixed multiple reported crash bugs.
  • Potential fix for “GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread” crash.

–Out Of Memory when Loading (Intel 13th generation CPU’s)–

We have identified an issue on some Intel 13th generation CPU’s where upon startup the game will display a message about being out of video memory or the crash reporter will pop up referencing an issue with decompressing a shader. If you experience this problem, you will likely also see it in other DX12 games.

If your CPU is overclocked, try setting it back to the defaults. If you’re not overclocked or that doesn’t work, try installing Intel Extreme Tuning Utility:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html and lowering your “Performance Core Ratio” from 55x to 54x.

–Achievements & Difficulty Rewards—

  • Retroactively fixed several achievements that weren’t tracked correctly.
  • Retroactively fixed as many difficulty-based rewards as possible.

DEV NOTE: To unlock difficulty rewards and achievements, you must interact with the World Stone.

–Quality of Life–

  • Added all unlocked Archetypes to Wallace’s inventory. If players have unlocked any Secret Archetype (by converting a Mysterious Item into an Engram), he will then sell them for all future characters. If you can start with it, Wallace will sell it.
  • Reduced the requirement to obtain Revivalist Trait. Also included Very Good Boy.
  • Updated Nimue, Bedel (Old Vaunnt), and N’Erud Vending Machine, and Blood Altar to properly keep their items in stock.
  • Fixed the Damage Reduction calculation in Advanced Stats. While this was a bug, we still wanted to make sure it was at the top of the list because it was giving players incorrect info.
  • Reduced Multiplayer Scaling per player by an additional 5% (from 15% to 10%). This means that in 3 player COOP, all players will now take 10% less damage (5% less per player).
  • Increased the chance that Cass spawns her special rewards.
  • Increased invulnerability time on standard Revive by 0.7s to give players a bit more time to react after being revived.
  • Experience gained is shared across any distance in multiplayer (previously 40m max range) and to dead teammates.

–Balance—

[ General ]

  • Reduced Vicious enemy affix from 33% to 15%.
  • Reduced Spiteful enemy affix from 0-45% to 0-25%. This is based on current enemy Health.
  • Reduced Thick Skin enemy affix from -15% Critical Chance & -25% Critical Damage to -10% and 15%, respectively.
  • Reduced Hearty enemy affix from 25% Max HP to 15% Max HP.
  • Increased Bulwark Damage Reduction from 6,5,4,3,2% (20% MAX) to 7,6,5,4,3% (25% MAX).

[ Armor ]

ARMOR OVERVIEW: We made a few tweaks to various armor types to give them unique benefits that were applicable for all difficulties. We felt that the baseline Heavy Armor values (at approximately 35% Damage Reduction) were in a good spot, especially with our recent changes to certain enemy affixes, so we adjusted the other armors to bring them up to par in their own way. Armor-based Damage Reduction is typically the easiest type of DR to get in the game, and due to its importance at higher levels, the lower-value armors were becoming less than desirable.

  • Adjusted Light Armor Damage Reduction Value from approximately 15% to 25%.
  • Adjusted Medium Armor Damage Reduction Value from approximately 25% to 30%.
  • Adjusted Ultra Heavy Armor Damage Reduction Value from approximately 45% to 50%.
  • Increased Light Armor Evade Invulnerability by 2 frames.
  • Increased Medium Armor Evade Invulnerability by 1 frame.
  • Increased Ultra Heavy Neutral Evade Invulnerability by 1 frame.

Armor Evade Value and Stamina Penalty Reference:

  • Light Evade (25 Encumbrance or Lower): 12 iFrames, 0% Stamina Cost Penalty.
  • Medium Evade (26-50 Encumbrance): 11 iFrames, 25% Stamina Cost Penalty.
  • Heavy Evade (51-75 Encumbrance): 10 iFrames, 50% Stamina Cost Penalty.
  • Ultra Heavy (76+ Encumbrance): 15 iFrames (Flop), 75% Stamina Cost Penalty.

DEV NOTE: No changes were made to Stamina Cost Penalty. These are original values. Additionally, Heavy Evade and Ultra Heavy Flop have their original iFrame value as well. The only changes regarding iFrames were to the two lighter Weight Classes.

[ Archetypes ]

  • Handler Companion and Summoner Minions gain increased health per difficulty. On Apocalypse, they will have the highest base health.
  • Increased Challenger’s Intimidating Presence Range from 10m to 15m.

[ Gear / Items ]

  • Increased Restriction Cord Damage Reduction from 10% to 15%.
  • Increased Guardian’s Ring range from 10m to 15m.
  • Enabled Mist Step Neutral Backdash attack.

[ Enemies ]

  • Adjusted downtime and overall combat flow for Annihilation.
  • Adjusted Annihilation Mine behavior on Survivor difficulty.

  • Progression Blocker: Fixed an issue where Annihilation would be stuck between first and second phase of fight due an improper Plasma Cutter interaction.

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards and Map This Week August 11

Destiny‘s Trials of Osiris weekly PvP mode has returned this Friday, refreshed with a new map and reward set. If you’re looking for more details about the current rotation, we’ve got you covered: MP1st’s new Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards and map this week August 11, 2023 post lists down all that information in full below.

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards This Week August 11, 2023:

Trials of Osiris Map:

The Burnout

Rewards

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: The Messenger (Adept)

Reputation System, Trials Engrams, and Adept Farming

Win individual rounds within each match to gain Trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone Flawless, keep playing! Every win you achieve while at the 7-win level, even if you lose your Flawless, has a chance to drop bonus Trials Engrams, adept weapons, prisms, and even Ascendant Shards. There is no penalty for losing once you’ve made it to the Lighthouse!

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone Flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

Passages

Name Perk Cost
Passage of Ferocity Your third match win grants a bonus win. 15 Legendary Shards
Passage of Mercy Forgives one loss per run. Forgives a second loss if you have not yet been flawless this week. 15 Legendary Shards
Passage of Wealth Increased reputation from match wins on a ticket. 25 Legendary Shards
Passage of Confidence Grants bonus rewards from Flawless Chest. 50 Legendary Shards

Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Is Now Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, Delayed to 2024

Among the several games that are considered guilty pleasures, Grasshopper Manufacture’s Lollipop Chainsaw ranks high in the leaderboard. While a sequel remains a dream for many, a remake of the original was announced in 2022, but news have been slim since then. Now, we finally have a couple of updates for the Lollipop Chainsaw remake, including the definitive name and a delay.

According to info coming straight from Yoshimi Yasuda, Lollipop Chainsaw producer at Dragami Games, The Lollipop Chainsaw remake Is now titled Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, and the release date was postponed from the planned 2023 to summer 2024. We still don’t know much about Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, especially the target platforms.

One of the announcements on Twitter reads the following:

The official title is “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP.” We are working hard on game development, but we need a little more time. We will do our best to create the game that you will love, so we ask for your continued support.

Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Is Now Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, Delayed to 2024 Announcement

And the other announcement gives us some more context on the new release date:

[…] the release date will be postponed from 2023 to the summer of 2024. We will do our best to make high quality games, so please continue to support us…!!!

Lollipop Chainsaw released in June 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture under the clinical eye of Suda 51 and with the input of co-writer James Gunn. However, none of them will be working on this remake, as Gunn confirmed in a tweet from July 2022:

To answer the question in the article, neither I nor @suda_51 are currently involved in this. I heard about it for the first time from Suda a couple weeks ago.

Considering that this is a remake, their influence in the new game may not be really necessary to a certain extent, so hopefully Dragami Games will be able to deliver a terrific update to this hack-and-slash game with the coolest cheerleader of all time.

Madden 24 Superstar Mode New Features and Deep Dive

EA Tiburon has released a new video offering a deep dive into Madden 24’s Superstar mode new features, as well as a detailed breakdown of what to expect from it.

Madden 24 Superstar Mode New Features:

NFL Combine

The journey to stardom begins with you as a rookie, entering the NFL draft as a QB, RB, WR, LB or CB, with Coach Prime, Deion Sanders as your mentor. We’ve brought back a modernized version of a playable NFL Combine to get you started on your journey, giving you a chance to showcase your skills in mini-games like the 40-yard dash, bench press, broad jump, and 3-cone shuttle.

The Impact of Combine Rankings

  • Your performance in each combine drill will impact your draft stock, especially where you rank in each drill compared to your peers from the real-life 2023 NFL Combine. It will also determine what rewards you will earn that can be applied to improve your ratings prior to the draft.
  • Your starting ratings, based on the archetype chosen at avatar creation, will determine your range of possible outcomes for each combine drill – a small, agile running back will be more likely to excel at the 40-yard dash and 3-cone drill than a big, bruising back, who’s more likely to excel at the bench press, for example.
  • After completing the combine mini-games, you’ll compete in position-specific drills that will increase or decrease your position in the draft. The pressure is on to shine and secure the bag as a projected top-10 NFL Draft pick.
  • Coming out of the Combine, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Combine Interview – a nod to Superstar modes from the past – where you’ll answer timed, football-themed trivia questions that will further dial in your actual draft position – the more questions answered correctly, the higher you may raise on draft boards.
  • After completing the combine, the next stop is the NFL Draft, where your draft position is based on your overall performance at the Combine, and the positional needs of each team (there’s also an override setting in the initial League set-up that will allow you choose any team you’d like if you want to skip the draft process). As a member of the 2023 Draft Class, you’ll be drafted by teams in the biggest need of your position based on team needs prior to the 2023 NFL Draft.

On-Field Performance Matters

Any NFL player will tell you – getting drafted is not the destination, but the beginning of the journey. After you sign your rookie contract, every game, every quarter, every rep matters, and to that end, Madden NFL 24 introduces an all-new in-game Player Grading system, exclusive to Superstar, that provides real-time feedback on your performance as you play your reps.

  • These dynamic evaluations will highlight how well you are doing your job each snap, emphasizing the importance of making the right moves at the right time, and the grade achieved on each drive will determine the amount of your rewards to increase ratings and start equipping abilities. Here’s a few examples of actions tracked via Player Grading:
    • Quarterback: Throw to Open/Covered Receiver
    • Wide Receiver: Call for Ball when Open/Covered
    • Running Back: Fake Out/Tackled for Loss
    • LB: Hit Stick/Faked Out
    • DB: Good Man Coverage/Allowed Man Completion

Superstar Missions

Another new addition is the Superstar Missions system, providing a comprehensive quest log to give you control over which objectives you want to focus on next, and which rewards you want to chase. These objectives include game goals, season objectives, career milestones, and there’s even a few other off-the-field surprises you’ll find as you play deeper through your career.

  • You can decide which objectives to pursue and will be rewarded accordingly once they are completed.
  • Missions includes on-field stat-based missions, career milestones and records, team win/loss objectives, and even extends to off-field opportunities: if you’re performing like the Superstar everybody thinks you can be, brand missions will be available, offering the opportunity to become brand ambassadors for iconic names like Nike, Jordan Brand,  and Adidas. The better you play, the more gear you’ll unlock.

Social Media Reactions

Off the field, your weekly stories and beats will be featured in the new Social Media feed, which was added on top of a revamped league news feed inside of Superstar.

  • Social Media reactions will be centered around YOU – you’ll see reactions about how you played in your last game, your stats, decisions you’re making off the field, and other relevant league news from a host of NFL insiders, including Mina Kimes and Dan Orlovsky.
  • The Social Media feed is also where the new MaddenCast will appear – a new live-action video podcast bringing unique commentary about you as a player, hosted by NFL Legends Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder – whether you’re playing great, or not so great, these guys won’t hesitate to keep it real about what’s going on in your career.

Side Activities and Mini-Games

  • To grow your Superstar status off the field, you can choose to participate in Side Activities, offering a weekly calendar of various opportunities to boost you or your team’s ratings, including: Community Events, training, rest and recovery, and a returning favorite in Madden, Mini-Games. That’s right, every week you’ll have the option to hit the practice field and boost your ratings by playing position-relevant mini-games such as Rushing Attack, Passing Skeleton and WR/DB Battle, among all the others coming back to Madden NFL 24.

A New Way To Play: Superstar Showdown

Bring your superstar and compete with, and against, other Superstars from around the world in the all-new Superstar Showdown – our new fast-paced 3 vs. 3 football mode where you can showcase and continue to progress your players alongside your friends.

  • Show off your skills, gear and personality as you take your place on the flashiest stage in virtual football. The Showdown Arena puts your Superstar in the spotlight with hi-tech features like emissive gear, glowing field-art and reactive jumbotron end-zone.
  • A new 3v3 twist on gameplay gets you in and out of the action faster – with no play-call screen, no first downs and a fast-to-fun ‘First to 21’ scoring format, games are shorter and more exciting.
  • Player Grading is also used in Showdown, but tailored to fit the unique style of the mode, ensuring that your game rewards match the distinct on-field mechanics of all the different Superstar ways to play.
  • Level up your Superstar while earning exclusive gear and boosts in Superstar Ranked; 1v1 battles are available in Solo Ranked; or team up with other Superstars in Squads Ranked. Each event features its own leaderboard and unique ranking path with different rewards.
  • Superstar Showdown will be fresh all season with live events – so be on the lookout for new experiences and different game rules all year long.

Progression and Customization

Madden NFL 24 has completely revamped the character power and progression experience for Superstar, and unified the progression path so that no matter where you play across League and Showdown, you’re always earning rewards and upgrading all of your individual Superstars.

  • Each playable position has its own unique avatar and progression path, allowing you to customize both the visuals and on-field impact of each one of your superstar characters.
  • Your avatar’s body type affects both the physical ratings, such as speed and strength, and your position-specific ratings, such as throw-power and throw-on-the-run.
  • All new to Madden NFL 24 is the Tiered Ability system, that ties ratings into on-field actions and stats, and rewards you with higher tiers of abilities as you increase both your ratings and successful reps on the field. For example, as a QB with the ‘Deep Throw Elite’ ability equipped, you can upgrade your Deep Throw Elite ability by increasing your deep-throw-accuracy rating, and successfully completing more deep throws in gameplay. You can mix and match abilities of different tiers to customize and experiment with all different types of builds for your superstar.

  • Take your Showdown performance to the next level by improving your non-position specific Showdown skills. As a traditional offensive player in the League, for example, make tackles, play coverage and catch passes inside Showdown as a 2-way player to earn permanent upgrades to these ratings to dominate in Showdown regardless of where you line up on the field.
  • Combining all the new progression features with all-new Custom Emotes and Celebration animations, you’ll not just be winning but doing it in style. The play may end when the whistle blows, but the real games begin after the play to see who has the coolest drip and celebrations

Madden NFL 24 launches this August 18 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Forza Motorsport Track Reveal Trailers Highlight Kyalami, Road America, and Eaglerock Speedway

Forza Motorsport is racing fast and hard to the finish line, which is another term for the launch date coming in October 2023. Knowing this, Microsoft seems to be making a stronger bet in revealing more details about the anticipated racing game, with the latest effort being the new Forza Motorsport track reveal trailers. There’s three of them, with more surely to come in the following weeks.

Unlike its racing sister series Forza Horizon which focuses on free roam and open-world driving, Forza Motorsport’s racing is confined to circuits. The tracks that you can see in the videos are the following:

  • Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit
  • Road America
  • Eaglerock Speedway

If there’s one thing that is underwhelming about these trailers is just how short they are. Clocking in at less than 30 seconds each, there’s barely enough time to watch the cars zip along to showcase one of the main features in each circuit. For Kyalami, we have the tight corners requiring careful timing with breaking and acceleration; Road America has the carousel corner requiring smooth curbing and perfect control of the throttle; finally, Eaglerock Speedway is all about pushing the throttle to the max on that straight.

The big twist in this reveal is that Eaglerock Speedway isn’t a real track, but a fictional one. However, given the familiar oval shape, it could very well be inspired by one of several NASCAR tracks.

Turn 10 Studios is handling development duties on Forza Motorsport, with a release slated for October 10, 2023 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and also launching on day one on Xbox Game Pass. The career mode will require an online connection at all times, but some modes that don’t involve progression can be played offline.

Destiny 2 Zavala Now With Voice of Keith David, Lance Reddick’s Lines Remain Untouched

Bungie has officially revealed the new actor in charge of voice work for Zavala, one of the central characters of the Destiny saga, after the passing of Lance Reddick earlier this year. The Destiny 2 Zavala character is now going to be voiced by Keith David, but all the lines recorded by Lance for the upcoming update The Final Shape will remain in place and untouched, serving as a tribute to the actor.

Keith David is known for his prolific career in movies, having participated in Jordan Peele’s Nope and some classics such as Armageddon and The Thing. He also played several parts in animated movies and videogames, so he isn’t a stranger to the role of Zavala in Destiny 2. DC League of Super-Pets and Mortal Kombat 11 are just a couple of examples from a long line of performances.

Bungie isn’t forgetting the dedication of Lance Reddick to the series, with a heartfelt message:

The passion and professionalism Lance brought to the role over the last decade was unmistakable and loved by all. Lance’s iconic voice led us through the most intense moments in Destiny’s history and his impact on our Guardians, our community, and Bungie as a whole will never be forgotten.

Keith David and Bungie aren’t strangers at all; their story dates back from the times of Halo 2 and Halo 3, when he voiced the characters Arbiter and Thel ‘Vadam respectively. On this new chapter, Keith had the following to say (via Bungie):

I am honored to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala. Lance captured the character’s sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape is expected to release by early 2024. It is the eight expansion and it’s not the end to Destiny 2, although it may be seen as the closing chapter of the Light and Darkness saga. With Bungie already considering the following 10 years for the Destiny saga, are we getting more expansions or Destiny 3?

Gameplay begins with both teams pursuing a central objective called a Flashpoint, aiming to capture it before the opposing team does. Capture progress for Flashpoint is like the Control game mode, but plays out faster.

A point is captured by a team once a Flashpoint reaches 100% capture progress. If the Flashpoint is being contested by a member of the opposite team currently not in control when the capture progress reaches 99%, Overtime will activate until either the team in control can remove all remaining opponents off, or until the contesting team can retake control of the Flashpoint.

A point is scored when a Flashpoint is fully captured by a team, however, gameplay continues when a new Flashpoint located somewhere else on the map is activated, and both teams must immediately race to capture it. As additional Flashpoints unlock, the spawn locations of each team will be of generally equal distance to the currently activated Flashpoint.

The team to be the first to successfully capture three of the five flashpoints wins the match.

Flashpoint is available now in Unranked modes and will be available for Competitive Play later this season.

Developer Comments: We’ve adjusted the second and third tiers to 9 and 12, but expect players to complete “Making Progress” on their way to those thresholds, which should leave the difficulty to complete weekly challenges unchanged. We’ve kept the first tier requirement at 4, which should be easier to earn with the introduction of the new weekly challenge.

On Fire

  • Increased minimum Blazing time to 10 seconds.
  • Added a 3-second cooldown to Blazing to prevent the sound effect from playing too frequently.
  • The visual effects for Blazing have been enhanced.

Ping System

  • Changed Symmetra’s personal Teleporter pings to work like Illari’s personal Healing Pylon pings so that the waypoint UI is removed when these objects are pinged.
  • Fixed Lifeweaver pinging enemy Petal Platforms as if they belong to him.
  • Health Packs are now pingable.

Text Chat

  • The ‘Unfiltered’ setting for all text chat channels has been removed. Players will have a choice on their chat settings between Friendly and Mature. Players that had previously set Text Profanity Filters to Unfiltered will now have applicable filters set to Mature.
  • Regardless of text chat filter settings, please continue to report those using inappropriate chat using the in-game report tool.

COMPETITIVE PLAY UPDATES

Top 500 Leaderboards

  • The number of wins required to appear on the Top 500 Leaderboard has been increased from 25 to 50 for consistency with our other Competitive game modes.

HERO UPDATES

  • Armor health damage reduction is now additive with other sources of damage reduction and has a maximum cap of 50%.

Developer Comments: Armor damage reduction was multiplicative with damage reduction from abilities, creating situations where certain heroes were much more difficult to damage than intended, since they were bypassing the damage reduction cap. This change will smooth out some of the extreme spikes in survivability.

TANK

D.VA

Developer Comments: Once D.Va’s mech was destroyed, there was a window of time where the pilot could be damaged or killed before the player fully had control over their character. With this change, D.Va can no longer be damaged by things like explosions or melee attacks before the player fully transitions control from the mech to the pilot.

Boosters

  • Cooldown reduced from 4 to 3.5 seconds.

Eject Mech

  • Pilot is now damage immune for 0.4 seconds while ejecting.

DOOMFIST

Developer Comments: Doomfist is performing well overall but tends to have more deaths on average compared to other Tank heroes. Lowering the Seismic Slam cooldown will reduce downtime in his ability rotations and translate into more survivability due to the increased mobility and potential for generating overhealth more often with his passive ability. Additionally, Power Block will now always reduce explosive damage from a projectile stuck directly to Doomfist, even though normally you have to face the direction of the incoming damage to block it.

Seismic Slam

  • Cooldown reduced from 7 to 6 seconds.

Power Block

  • Now reduces damage from stuck projectiles.

RAMATTRA

Developer Comments: Similar to Doomfist’s Power Block change, Ramattra’s Block ability will now always apply damage reduction to projectiles stuck directly to him. His Annihilation ultimate ability was being generated slightly too quickly for how impactful it can be, so we are increasing its ultimate cost.

Block (Nemesis Form)

  • Block now reduces damage from stuck projectiles.

Annihilation

  • Ultimate cost increased 12%.
  • Block now reduces damage from stuck projectiles.

SIGMA

Developer Comments: Sigma has always had somewhat floatier movement controls than most heroes in order to match his character movement animations. However, this led players to feel like his Tank role passive ability wasn’t reducing the amount he would be knocked back since it took him longer to stop than other tanks. We’ve now adjusted this to the standard hero movement values to make the gameplay interactions feel more consistent.

  • Base movement ground deceleration increased to match standard heroes movement.

WINSTON

Developer Comments: Winston’s Tesla Cannon ranged attack had a decently long charge time relative to the damage it deals. These adjustments will make it more responsive to charge and fire, which can be useful for situations such as finishing off low health enemies attempting to flee, or poking at enemies before leaping in. This comes at the cost of taking a longer time to recover after firing, which in some cases will be weaker as a burst-damage combo with Jump Pack and primary fire.

Tesla Cannon

  • Secondary fire charge time reduced from 1.2 to 1 second.
  • Secondary fire recovery time increased from 0.5 to 0.75 seconds.

DAMAGE

BASTION

Developer Comments: There are several small tuning adjustments to Bastion here with the goal of improving overall effectiveness, as Bastion’s weakness of being a large and immobile target has proven tough to overcome, even with such powerful damage potential.

A-36 Tactical Grenade

  • Maximum explosion damage falloff reduced from 70% to 50%.
  • Detonation time reduced from 0.5 to 0.35 seconds.
  • Recoil adjusted to recover more quickly.
  • Projectile size increased from 0.2 to 0.25.
  • Impact damage increased from 15 to 30.

Configuration: Recon

  • Reload time reduced from 1.5 to 1.2 seconds.

Configuration: Assault

  • Transforming into Configuration Assault now repairs 50 armor health.

Configuration: Artillery

  • Targeting state movement speed increased from 20 to 25 meters per second.

CASSIDY

Developer Comments: Even with the powerful and reworked Magnetic Grenade, Cassidy has still been underperforming, so we are reverting his maximum health back up to 225, having his gun damage falloff reach its full reduction sooner, and restricting the maximum range on magnetic grenade to help solidify his position as a close-to-mid range damage dealer.

  • Base health increased from 200 to 225.

Peacekeeper

  • Peacekeeper damage falloff range rescaled from 25-45 meters to 25-35 meters.

Magentic Grenade

  • Projectile now has a maximum travel time of 1.5 seconds.
  • Slow amount reduced from 30 to 25%.

HANZO

Developer Comments: Despite being conceptually strange, this gameplay mechanic felt good and fluid to use as Hanzo. However, it often resulted in some frustrating behavior for enemy players that can be alleviated without impacting Hanzo’s overall effectiveness too significantly.

Storm Bow

  • Arrow draw progress is no longer preserved while wall climbing.

SOLDIER: 76

Developer Comments: Soldier: 76 became much more deadly after his last round of changes so we are reverting the Helix Rocket explosion damage to lower his burst damage. We are also increasing his Tactical Visor ultimate cost to help account for his overall increased damage output, both during the ultimate and leading up to it.

Helix Rocket

  • Explosion damage reduced from 90 to 80.

Tactical Visor

  • Ultimate cost increased 10%.

SOMBRA

Developer Comments: EMP frequency is a little too high given its relative power so we are increasing its cost. It will now also deal the usual percentage of max health damage to Lifeweaver’s Tree of Life ultimate instead of treating it like a barrier and destroying it instantly.

EMP

  • Ultimate cost increased 15%.
  • No longer destroys Lifeweaver’s Tree of Life.

TORBJÖRN

Developer Comments: We are continuing to add power into the Rivet Gun, as the previous changes didn’t quite make up for the turret damage decrease. In addition, we are also improving the Forge Hammer swing speed so that it is more effective to repair a turret while it is under fire.

  • Weapon swap time reduced from 0.5 to 0.4 seconds.

Rivet Gun

  • Primary fire recovery time reduced from 0.55 to 0.48 seconds.

Forge Hammer

  • Swing recovery time reduced from 0.75 to 0.6 seconds.

SUPPORT

ANA

Developer Comment: Ana’s damage breakpoint change has proven too effective overall given her long range so we are reverting it back to its previous value. We are also increasing the size of unscoped projectiles when firing at enemies (her projectiles have always had a larger size for allies) which should help them land more consistently against close-ranged threats.

Biotic Rifle

  • Damage and healing per projectile reduced from 75 to 70.
  • Unscoped projectile size increased from 0 to 0.1.

BRIGITTE

Developer Comment: Brigitte’s overall effectiveness and survivability have been high relative to other heroes, so we are reducing the Barrier Shield health. We’re also slightly adjusting the ultimate cost of Rally, as it has become more effective after its rework.

Barrier Shield

  • Barrier Shield health reduced from 300 to 250.

Rally

  • Ultimate cost increased 6%.

KIRIKO

Developer Comment: Protection Suzu now rewards more deliberate usage by increasing its healing when cleansing negative effects. It will no longer knockback enemies, as it wasn’t particularly important to its overall design and was there to provide feedback for the impact. These Kunai changes will make the weapon damage output more consistent and reduce some of the disparity between landing critical hits or not.

Protection Suzu

  • Knockback removed.
  • Healing reduced from 50 to 40.
  • Now heals for an additional 30 health when cleansing a negative effect.

Kunai

  • Damage increased from 40 to 45.
  • Recovery time reduced from 0.55 to 0.5 seconds.
  • Critical damage multiplier reduced from 3 to 2.5x.

LIFEWEAVER

Developer Comments: The Tree of Life outputs substantial healing but often doesn’t provide enough value for an ultimate ability. To increase its utility, any overhealing done via the Tree is now converted to overhealth. Thorn Volley’s spread is now less random, with half the projectiles having a smaller base spread to promote better mid-range consistency. Life Grip now has a longer mobility lockout duration to prevent accidental cancels by the affected ally using a movement ability immediately after the pull being started. Finally, we are supplementing Lifeweaver’s survivability with an increase to his overall health pool by converting some of it to shield health in order to account for the large petal hit volume on his back, as well as increasing the healing done by Rejuvenating Dash.

  • Base health reduced from 200 to 175.
  • Base shield health increased from 0 to 50.

Thorn Valley

  • Reduced spread for one of the two Thorn Volley projectiles fired per shot by 25%.

Rejuvenating Dash

  • Healing increased from 25 to 50.

Life Grip

  • Mobility lockout duration increased from 0.45 to 0.75 seconds.

Tree of Life

  • 50% of Tree of Life’s overhealing is now converted into Overhealth – up to 100 maximum Overhealth.

LÚCIO

Developer Comment: In order to help bring Lucio’s survivability more in line with the rest of the Support heroes, Crossfade self-healing during Amp It Up is now a more effective survival option for Lucio.

Crossfade

  • Secondary fire damage boost reduced from 30 to 25%.

MERCY

Developer Comment: Damage amplification effects have been an often discussed topic lately, and Mercy has been performing strongly at all skill ranks. We’re reducing the potency of Mercy’s damage boost beam but want to make sure it stays powerful enough to feel like an effective and interesting gameplay choice, as making the decision between healing or damage boosting is core to Mercy’s gameplay.

Caduceus Staff

  • Secondary fire damage boost reduced from 30 to 25%.

CO-OP MODE HERO UPDATES

With the introduction of Overwatch 2: Invasion Story Missions, we will have specific hero balance changes for multiple heroes to ensure players have a continuous challenge when playing in co-op modes like Story Missions and Event Missions.

  • Heroes no longer passively gain ultimate charge over time.
  • Ultimate costs increased in co-op game modes.

TANK

WINSTON

Tesla Cannon

  • Secondary fire now chains up to 4 additional nearby enemies, dealing depreciating damage each chain.

Jump Pack

  • Landing damage now increases while in the air, up to 250% more damage over 2.5 seconds.

ZARYA

Particle Barrier

  • Particle Barrier duration increased from 2 to 3 seconds.

Projected Barrier

  • Projected Barrier duration increased from 2 to 3 seconds.

Graviton Surge

  • Damage per second increased from 5 to 30 for 105 damage total.

Energy (Passive)

  • Energy degeneration rate reduced from 2 to 1.5 energy per second.

DAMAGE

CASSIDY

Deadeye

  • Initial charge rate increased from 130 to 325 damage per second.
  • Ramped charge rate increased from 260 to 650 damager per second.
  • Now has a maximum damage cap of 1560 per target.

ECHO

Focusing Beam

  • Damage per second increased from 50 to 85.

Duplicate

  • Echo can duplicate her allies in Co-op modes.
  • Duration increased from 15 to 20 seconds.
  • Ultimate charge rate multiplier during Duplicate increased from 4x to 9x.

GENJI

Shuriken

  • Damage increased from 27 to 29.

Deflect

  • Duration increased from 2 to 3 seconds.

Dragonblade

  • Duration increased from 6 to 8 seconds.

MEI

Endothermic Blaster

  • Primary fire damage per second increased from 55 to 100.

PHARAH

  • Hover Jets and Jump Jet now increases movement speed by 30%.

Concussive Blast

  • Explosion damage increased from 0 to 30.

Barrage

  • Explosion damage increased from 30 to 35.

Hover Jets (Passive)

  • Maximum fuel increased 20%.

TORBJÖRN

Deploy Turret

  • Turret damage increased from 11 to 15.

TRACER

Pulse Pistols

  • Ammo increased from 40 to 60.
  • Damage reduced from 5.5 to 5.

Pulse Bomb

  • Explosion damage increased from 350 to 550.

SUPPORT

BRIGITTE

Shield Bash

  • Damage increased from 50 to 60.

Rally

  • Duration increased from 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Rally does not increase Barrier Shield size in Story Missions.

Inspire (Passive)

  • Healing total reduced from 75 to 55.

LÚCIO

Soundwave

  • Cooldown reduced from 5 to 4 seconds.

Crossfade

  • Speed Boost now also increases attack speed by 20%.

Ghostrunner 2 Opens Beta Signups and Teases Major Announcement

Ghostrunner 2 beta signups are available right now, ramping up the excitement to 505 Games’ follow-up to the acclaimed 2020 cyberpunk first-person slasher. But wait, there’s more – the developers are promising some exciting Ghostrunner 2 news on Monday, August 21, describing them as a “major announcement.” Could it be a Ghostrunner 2 release date reveal? We’ll have to wait and see.

Regarding the Ghostrunner 2 closed beta, with a still secretive start date, you can sign up right now through the official form, but do it quickly since there are very limited slots and it requires you to be a member of the game’s Discord and Reddit. There are some interesting questions there, such as if you have any programming experience, or if you show any interest in being a community event coordinator or suggest any fun community events. In case you are selected for the beta, you must sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) preventing you from sharing any details about the Ghostrunner 2 closed beta.

A new video was also revealed, recapping the events from the previous game. Naturally, it is chockful of spoilers and should only be watched by those who have already played and completed the first game.

Ghostrunner 2 releases in 2023, but a specific launch date is yet to be announced. You can expect to see this game available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).

Meet Your Maker Rising Tides Mid-Sector Update Drops August 15; Tease Revealed for Next Major Update

Builders, we’ve got some fantastic news for you all, as Behaviour Interactive has revealed the release date of their upcoming mid-sector update for Meet Your Maker! That’s not all, though, as the studio has also begun teasing the game’s next major update.

Meet Your Maker Rising Tides Mid-Sector Update for August 2023

On August 15, Behaviour Interactive will deploy a new patch called the Rising Tides mid-sector update. This update will introduce a few new features, which have been outlined below.

New Features and Updates

  • Social Raiding Now Enabled for Every Outpost – With this update, every Activated Outpost will automatically have the Social Raid status enabled, meaning that they will always be searchable from the Social Raid menu. Progression and rewards will still only be tied to the Outposts raided from the standard Raid Map, but now Builders will be able to share their levels without worrying about losing out on standard raid rewards.
  • Introduction of Daily Challenges – A Daily Challenges system for Raiders will be introduced, replacing the current Chimera Tribute system. Raiders will now have a steady stream of exciting new tasks to complete and will be rewarded for doing so. These challenges also improve gameplay variety by encouraging the use of different mechanics and strategies.

New Gameplay Content & Improvements

To keep Raiders and Builders on their toes, we’re deploying 5 new Mods and Augments. We’ve seen first-hand how quickly the community creates when they have new tools to work with, and we’re excited to see how these latest additions will shake up life for Custodians in the wasteland. All of the new Mods and Augments will be unlockable with in-game currency.

In addition, there will be three new color decals, fitting the theme of the previous Sector 1: Dreadshore update for all players. This update will also bring UI refinements, balance changes, and of course, bug fixes. We’ll have the full patch notes posted once they become available next week.

As for what else is to come to Meet Your Maker, Behavior released this teaser for their next major update, Sector 2: Shattered Peak.

Meet Your Maker Sector 2 Shattered Peak

The studio previously teased this update during our interview with them last month, and we’re glad to finally learn what they meant about wearing something warm, as the next major update appears to be in some rather arctic weather. We should be learning more about this update very soon, but until then, enjoy the Mid-Sector update!
