DualSense PC Firmware Can Now Be Updated Without a PS5

Following up on our report a week ago, Sony has now put up an official page for upgrading your DualSense PC firmware! Since its release, while you can use the DualSense on PC, you can’t update its firmware without a PS5. With this new software, PC players can now update their DualSense without the need for a PS5.

Here’s the instructions for updating the DualSense PC firmware via the page put up by Sony:

If it’s your first time updating the firmware, you need to install the app on your Windows PC. The next time you need to update the firmware, start from step 3.

1. Download [Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller] and save it to your desktop or other location.

2. Run the installation file, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the app.During the installation, you might see a request to download additional software that’s needed to use [Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller]. To download this software, follow the on-screen instructions.

3.Launch [Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller].

4.Use a USB cable to connect your controller to your Windows PC, and then follow the on-screen instructions to start the update.

Don’t turn off your Windows PC or disconnect the USB cable during the update. When the update is complete, a message appears. Select [OK] to finish the process.

You can update the firmware for only one controller at a time. To update the firmware for multiple controllers, you need to do each controller individually.

You can download the necessary software via this link, and it has all the necessary stuff you’ll need to update the firmware. This is great news for those who are big fans of the DualSense controller but not actual owners of a PS5.

It’s not surprising that the DualSense has a fanbase even amongst the PC crowd, as the controller has been named the “Best Controller Ever” in a fan tournament for the BAFTA. Check out the full article here.

God of War Ragnarok Update Shared by Cory Balrog in New Message

In a new message celebrating four years since the release of God of War, Cory Balrog shares a small God of War Ragnarok update, assuring everyone that Sony Santa Monica is hard at work at developing the game, and citing that they are “perfectionists.” Check out the message below, shared via Twitter:

Balrog acknowledges that the team has been quite mum on the topic of God of War Ragnarok update for quite some time, despite the game coming later this year. However, he then assures that everybody is working hard to deliver the game, tightening up the graphics, and so much more. However, it also seems that these cannot be shared at the moment, meaning that the game is still at a critical point in its development.

Indeed, the last time we heard something concrete and new about this game is the rumors that it will be releasing on September 30, which is still up in the air as it also may be a placeholder. It was also rated a few months ago for the Saudi Arabia boards, which means that at the very least development is moving along for the game to have received a proper rating.

Stay tuned here at MP1st for more information on God of War Ragnarok and more!

F1 22 Countdown Site Unveiled; Official Reveal Set for April 21

EA has put up the F1 22 countdown site as the next game in the series is set for its official reveal this April 21! At the time of writing, the countdown is at a day and two hours, which means that we can expect the full reveal to come sometime tomorrow.

The countdown site for F1 22 does not reveal a ton, with just a countdown timer filling in most of the space. However, one important thing to note is that the game will possibly be called F1 22, moving away from the 20xx naming scheme (for context, the current game in the series is F1 2021).

As of what we can expect from this new title, it’s still up in the air; however, some avid players over on Reddit have mentioned that a leak has surfaced that confirms VR support for the game, a feature which is sure to please those who really value immersion in their racing sims.

In any case, stay tuned here at MP1st for the full rundown of the F1 22 official reveal tomorrow!

(NOTE: This will not retroactively fix Jobs for previously looted sites that are already active. For these players, once the player reaches the indicated area, the system will update and the player will be redirected to the correct site).

Performance and Stability

Battlefield 2042 C5 Drone Options Being Reviewed by DICE; “Aware” of End of Round Promoted Bug

While DICE addressed a load of issues in Battlefield 2042 in today’s rollout of patch 4.0, there’s one thing the devs have failed to address, and that’s the Battlefield 2042 C5 drone “issue” that players have encountered for quite some time. Thankfully, DICE has confirmed that this is being reviewed by the devs, which means a change should be incoming.

This was confirmed by Battlefield Community Manager Straatford87 over on the EA Answers forums:

Also of note, it seems that with patch 4.0, a new bug where it shows the player as being promoted every end of round is a thing, and DICE is aware of it per Kevin Johnson (DICE Community Manager).

Finally, Straatford87 also explained the reasoning behind the XP changes that came with patch 4.0:

We’ve moved XP gains around to make it more consistent in how it is rewarded to you as opposed to focusing on completing the defend/capture event itself. This will help balance out overall XP rewards.

This also means it should feel less punishing if you die just before a Capture event has taken place and you miss out on a big chunk of XP.

Instead, you are now rewarded with more XP for participating in the defensive/offensive goal by performing Support actions to your team (Healing, Resupplying, Repairing and destroying Equipment or Disrupting via EMP).

Coupled with Ribbons now being easier to get, you should see higher overall XP gains with this change. Once you’ve been able to play and

While it didn’t fix everything wrong with BF2042, patch 4.0 is a step in the right direction. Let’s hope that DICE continues this momentum and releases more significant patches in the future.

Marvel’s Avengers Upcoming Updates 2.4 and 2.5 Announced, Jane Foster: The Might Thor to Be Next Hero

Following the release of Marvel’s Avengers patch 2.3.1 last week, Crystal Dynamics has announced the Marvel’s Avengers upcoming updates! Yes, the studio has revealed info about patch 2.4 and patch 2.5! Not only that, but Jane Foster is coming to the game as Thor, too!

Marvel’s Avengers upcoming update 2.4 is set to be rolled out in May, and will focus on system improvements. Read on for more info on both upcoming patches.

Marvel’s Avengers Upcoming Updates 2.4 and 2.5 Info:

In Update 2.4 we’ll be reworking the systems behind those events with the goal of making them more rewarding. Combined with the improved game loop introduced in 2.3, we think these new rewards will make a meaningful change of pace for veteran players, and a great way to gear up for newer players.

There are a number of components going into that rework, including:

  • To make each event more unique and worth playing, we’re improving and diversifying rewards across events, with each event now rewarding gear from different sets.
  • Adding Unit rewards to a wider variety of event missions to provide even more ways to earn shipments and cosmetic vendor outfits.
  • Adding higher power level gear rewards to meta objectives to create another path to gear-up beyond the soft-cap on drops for non-Raid/Omega-Level Threat content.
  • Meta objectives will grant rewards to your entire eligible roster, not just a single hero, allowing you to gear up your squad while playing your favorite hero.

More specific changes will be revealed at a later date.

As for update 2.5, that’s when Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor will be making her way! No specific release date has been set yet, but I gather, it’ll be released to coincide with the upcoming Marvel movie Thor: Love & Thunder, where we know Jane Foster becomes Thor (based on the recently released trailer). According to Crystal Dynamics, Foster’s abilities will have a lot in common with Odinson, though she will also have elements that are “distinctly Jane.” More details regarding Jane will be revealed in the future.

Once we know more about the two upcoming title updates, we’ll let our readers know.

Battlefield 2042 Latest Update Introduces Dangerous “Flashing” Effect That Might Trigger Seizures

In case you didn’t know, DICE released a major title update for Battlefield 2042 today that included over 400 fixes, VOIP integration and more. While the patch brought in a lot of much-needed improvements to the shooter, it also introduced what seems to be a dangerous “flashing” effect in the menus and in the game.

Check it out for yourself, though fair warning, that this could trigger seizures and the like.

According to the person who recorded the video, he is certain that this isn’t his PC’s fault given it only happens in Battlefield 2042.

Hopefully, this is a bug and is patched out/fixed ASAP. It’s one thing to suffer through a game-breaking bug, and it’s another if it can literally affect your health. If you have any Battlefield news you want covered or shared, reach us via email, and we’ll credit you if ever we run it.

Thanks, Tom Henderson!

Modern Warfare & Warzone Update 1.56 Released for Bug Fixes This April 19

Raven Software has released the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone update 1.56 patch today, and this brings a host of bug fixes to the game, alongside battle royale adjustments to further merge Warzone and Vanguard! Read on for the Warzone April 19 patch notes.

Modern Warfare & Warzone Update 1.56 Patch Notes | COD Warzone April 19 Patch Notes:

MODES:

Battle Royale Adjustments

At the start of Season Two Reloaded, we talked about our intent to merge the core and Vanguard Royale experiences into a single, coherent Mode. We’ve now arrived at the final step of the merger, with Vanguard Royale Public Events joining the core BR event pool.

  • Public Events
    • Added:
      • Restock
      • Cash Drops
      • Heavy Weapon Drops
      • Resurgence
  • Loadout Drop Events:
    • First free Loadout Drop now occurs earlier
      • This change should make for better parity in the power curve.
    • Second free Loadout Drop remains in the 5th Circle
  • Guaranteed Events:
    • Infil:
      • Heavy Weapon Crate
      • Plunder Crate

Being incentivised to landing in different locations due to Legendary loot appearing in the early game is a good opportunity for POI rotation.

    • 4th Circle:
      • Restock
      • Fire Sale

Having mid-game events help players restock their inventory and give players improved looting opportunities in the mid-to-late game, especially if returning from the Gulag.

As a reminder, here are some of the other changes that were implemented to core BR over the previous weeks:

  • Gameplay
    • Default core health is now at 150 (up from 100)
  • Loot
    • Dead Silence will remain as Legendary ground loot
  • Contracts
    • “Big Game Bounty”
    • “Top Secret”
    • “Supply Drop”

We’re excited to see this initiative come to fruition and look forward to monitoring your continued feedback. Time to drop in!

BUG FIXES:

  • Fixed collision issues with various elements across Caldera allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed an issue where the Restock and Quick Fix Perk descriptions did not match their current functionality.
  • Fixed an issue where some Keyboard and Mouse button prompts could be seen when using a Gamepad.
  • Fixed an issue where the button prompt when receiving a Playlist Update would incorrectly say “Exit” instead of “Restart Now”
  • Fixed an issue where Players could not invite other Players to join their party from the “Invite From Social” menu.
  • Fixed an issue where “The Wall” Blueprint would disappear in-game before Players could receive it.
  • Fixed an issue allowing Players to clip through Golden Bunker doors.
  • Fixed an issue causing Combat Shield Blueprints to not appear correctly when equipped in a Loadout.

In addition to the changes, Snoop Dogg’s Operator skin is now also available in the game, too!

Mortal Kombat 11 Update 1.000.005 Released This April 19 (Update)

NetherRealm Studios has released Mortal Kombat 11 update 1.000.005 on all platforms! This is an unannounced title update, and as such, do not expect any new content. Read on for the Mortal Kombat 11 April 19 patch notes. For those wondering, yes, the servers are down following today’s update.

Mortal Kombat 11 Update 1.000.005 Patch Notes:

Update: Here’s what NetherRealm had to say about today’s title update:

NetherRealm Studios has not released anything regarding today’s title update. However, if we had to hazard a guess, this would be for bug/exploit fixes to the game. Here are some of the stuff via the community:

Reddit user ApexDeity said that they hope it’s for the Baraka armor bug:

Might be for that Baraka super armor someone found. Basically Johnny’s parry would make the armor from Baraka’s flag charge last longer than intended.

Note that this bug also applies to Rambo’s Machine Gun.

Reddit user salmon10 said that they hope it’s for Kollector and his grab.

We’re keeping an eye out, and will update the post if we spot any gameplay-related changes or improvements. There is also a chance that this update is to insert an in-game ad or something, which wouldn’t be the first time for a game.

If you spot anything, leave a comment below and let us know what you find.
