Report: Alleged BioShock 4 Logo and Details Leak. Here’s What We Know

With The Game Awards fast approaching, rumors have been heating up regarding the next BioShock entry, with an alleged BioShock 4 logo surfacing along with details.

It’s been nine years since the last entry in the critically acclaimed franchise. So what do we know?

The first official confirmation of a new BioShock entry in development was in December 2019. After months of rumors, 2K Games announced the creation of a brand new Canada-based studio called Cloud Chamber, and confirmed that they were working on a new BioShock title.

According to the press release, work on the next iteration of BioShock would continue “for the next several years.” 2K Games also confirmed the series’ original creative director, Ken Levine, would not be involved with the title. Shortly after the announcement, a report by Kotaku claimed that the next BioShock (codenamed Parkside) had in fact, been in development since at least 2015, and that the project had been rebooted at least once.

While information on the game has been relatively minimal since then, job listings by Cloud Chamber have given us some potential clues. Listings on the official Cloud Chamber website suggest that the game will potentially run on Unreal Engine 5, and feature open world elements. One listing also suggests the game will feature complex “urban crowd systems.”

Then, in September 2021, a major leak via Nvidia GeForce Now spilled the beans on numerous upcoming titles, including one called “Bioshock 2022.” Nvidia later confirmed the legitimacy of the leak, however noted that the data was subject to change.

There has also been talk of the game potentially being a PlayStation-exclusive. In a May 2021 episode of the XboxEra podcast, resident leaker Nick Baker (Shpeshal_Nick) claimed to have heard from unnamed sources that the next BioShock was being shopped to Sony, however stated he was unsure if it was as a timed exclusive, or a platform exclusive.

BioShock rumors have sprung up again in recent days. First when a mysterious website popped up online, that appeared to feature multiple references to the BioShock franchise, leading fans to believe it was a teaser for BioShock 4. However, internet archives like waybackmachine show that the website has been around since at least 2018. It was even reported on back in May 2020.

What’s New?

On November 17, Twitter user “@oopsleaks” shared details of what they claimed to be the next BioShock entry, including the game’s logo.

They state that the game, titled “BioShock Isolation”, is scheduled for an announcement in Q1 2022.

Additionally, the user reports that it will forego the previous locales of Rapture and Columbia, and be set in a new location. They go on to say, the game will be open-world, while featuring a “linear main story.” They also claim the title will not be PS5 exclusive, contradicting previous rumors.

Furthermore, “BioShock Isolation” will supposedly feature two cities rather than one, each with “radically different ideologies.” It remains to be seen how credible this all is. The leaker has shared supposed presentation slides, direct from 2K and Cloud Chamber, which, if real, would indicate they have a source inside the development studio. As always, take rumors like this with a grain of salt until we get official confirmation.

Will we see an announcement for BioShock 4 (or whatever the next BioShock game is titled) at The Game Awards later this December? We can’t say for sure, but evidence seems to be mounting that this announcement will be happening sooner rather than later.

Halo Infinite Physical Copy Spotted Ahead of Release

Ahead of its highly-anticipated release this December, a Halo Infinite physical copy has already been spotted online. While the game’s multiplayer is now in full-swing after its stealth release a few weeks ago, the next episode in its campaign is still awaiting its launch this December 8.

The physical copy of Halo Infinite was posted on Twitter by a Polish user, who showed the front and the back of the case. Check out the image below, as well as its caption (which we both saved in case of deletion):

Tak prezentuje się wersja pudełkowa Halo Infinite!

(Translated to English: This is what the boxed version of Halo Infinite looks like!)

The copy appears to be for the Xbox Series X|S version of the game, complete with Master Chief prominently as the cover and with the iconic green case.

This early leaks of boxed copies for huge AAA games seems to be the norm nowadays, as just roughly a month ago a physical copy of COD Vanguard also leaked online.

In any case, for the rest of the fans waiting for the campaign’s release, Halo Infinite will officially launch on December 8. Read more of Halo Infinite’s ongoing multiplayer beta and more in our Halo hub.

Street Fighter 5 Luke Gameplay Trailer Punches Out, Showcases Fighter Moves

Capcom has released a new trailer for Street Fighter 5 and this one features incoming fighter, Luke! The Street Fighter 5 Luke gameplay trailer gives us a good look at the character’s normal attacks, supers, V attacks, and lots more.

Check Ryu and other Street Fighter characters get beaten up while Luke showcases his moves.

Outside of Luke’s moves, we also see some of the outfits he’ll rock in the game.

Luke is headed to Street Fighter 5 Season Pass owners this November 29, and will be acommpanied by what we assume will be a fighter balance pass. Once the patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. Don’t forget, Luke is the last character planned for SFV, and is the last expected content drop for the game. Hopefully, Street Fighter 6 is announced soon, so players have something to look forward to after it.

Report: Actor for Albert Wesker Knowingly Breaks NDA; Leaks Resident Evil 4 Remake Is in Development

Given how Capcom has remaked each major entry in the Resident Evil franchise, it’s just a matter of time until we get the Resident Evil 4 Remake that everyone’s looking forward to, no? As it turns out, it seems the game is indeed under development.

Actor D.C. Douglas, who voiced Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil franchise, has leaked the game’s existence, all the while knowing he was breaking NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with Capcom.

The first shot features concept art given to him by Capcom, shows Wesker as he appears in the Separate Ways of Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The second image shows Douglas forwarding the concept art and mentioning how he can get into hot water for doing so, thus confirming that he knows he shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.

Mind, nothing here has been confirmed by Capcom, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, given how much Capcom loves remaking their games, a Resident Evil 4 Remake announcement is just a matter of when.

Thankfully, the last few Resident Evil remakes were excellent ones, with our review of Resident Evil 3 Remake stil getting a respectable score even if it was super short, and didn’t really offer any major changes like RE2 Remake.

Would you want a Resident Evil 4 Remake or should Capcom just pick up where Resident Evil Village left off ASAP?

Report: Sony Has Filed a Patent for a PlayStation Mobile Controller

Sony appears to be taking a page out of Microsoft’s game streaming playbook, as the company has recently filed a patent for a possible PlayStation mobile controller. This patent goes further and beyond though, the full details of which you can read on below

There are two images associated with teh patent, with one showing the controller, and the other showing it connecting to a device (we presume a gaming console), and a TV.

PlayStation Mobile Controller

Sony also looks to be taking some inspiration for Nintendo, with the patent for this PlayStation mobile controller being split into two, and a smartphone device sitting smack in the middle. There’s not a ton of information included in the patent, though, including whether this will connect wirelessly via Bluetooth, or through USB-C like a Razer Kishi. It would also be interesting to see the range of smartphone sizes that will be possible with this design, and how it will help PlayStation and Sony in the streaming race.

Report: Unannounced AAA Marvel MMO In Development at Dimensional Ink, Studio Behind DC Universe Online

The studio behind the popular MMORPG DC Universe Online game may soon be focusing on another popular comic IP, as it has been revealed that they are developing an unannounced Marvel MMO.

The news comes (spotted by Twitter user Miller) from EG7’s (EnaD Global 7) recent investor presentation where they outlined some of their future goals, one of which included the reveal of a new Marvel IP.

Unannounced Marvel MMO

The details are as followed:

Unannounced MMORPG

  • Marvel IP based massively multiplayer online game
  • Being developed by Dimensional Ink Studios in Austin, TX
  • Led by Jack Emmert, who designed and helmed City of Heroes, and currently leads DCUO

No further details were revealed, though judging from the above timeline it’s probably safe to assume we won’t be seeing this MMO until at least after 2022. Should there be any more news around the new Marvel MMO, we will be sure to keep you all updated.

In related news, Dimensional Ink Studios is currently celebrating DCUO’s 10-year anniversary with an onslaught of new content and events dropping throughout this year. Players can look forward to the release of Episode 42: Legion of Doom next month, with details below:

The Source Wall is broken. The Batman Who Laughs is imprisoned, but for how long? Lex Luthor has reappeared, leading the Multiverse’s most dangerous Super Villains – The Legion of Doom – in service to their cruel benefactor, Perpetua!

Perpetua, freed when the Source Wall was damaged, has returned with the power to destroy or recreate the Multiverse however she desires.

Hope is not lost. The Monitor has foreseen this threat, and the Multiverse’s greatest heroes and villains have already been training night and day in his House of Legends. What was imprisoned once can be imprisoned again…right?

In LEGION OF DOOM, it will be up to you to face this impossible challenge – to stop Perpetua, face down the Legion of Doom, and save the Multiverse – or vanish forever from existence!

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LEGION OF DOOM:

  • LEGION OF DOOM will offer normal and elite versions of all On Duty content, along with level-agnostic event versions available for a limited time.
  • The content will include open world missions in addition to a duo, an alert, and a large raid.

Episode 42: Legion of Doom will arrive this December on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Sifu Has “Hidden Secrets” That Might Take Multiple Runs for Players to “Fully Understand”

While developer Sloclap confirmed to MP1st that Sifu won’t have difficulty options available at launch, it seems there are secrets in the game that players will need to dig up along the way.

Speaking to MP1st, we asked Sloclap Executive Producer Pierre Tarno how long the game will be, and while he didn’t give a definite answer to that, Tarno did mention how there are many “hidden secrets” within the game that will need multiple runs in order for players to fully understand.

MP1st: Ballpark estimate for the campaign length?  Can we expect it to be as long as Absolver? No multiplayer this time around, what can players expect in terms of replay value?

Tarno: The campaign length will vary depending on the Kung Fu skills of the player. In terms of replay value, there are a couple of hidden secrets inside the game that might take a couple runs for players to fully understand.

Color me intrigued! Does Tarno mean players will need to finish Sifu multiple times to uncover some of these hidden secrets? Or maybe it’s something that will slowly inch its way into the game the more we play? Your guess is as good as mine at this point, though I admit, I’m now more curious than ever to know what this is.

Sifu will be launching on the PS4, PS5, and PC February 8, 2022. Stay tuned to our full chat with Sloclap where we dive into martial arts and gaming very soon.

Rainbow Six Extraction Has Gone Gold

It looks like Ubisoft’s upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction won’t be seeing anymore delays, as the game has entered gold status today! This announcement was made by Ubisoft today with a short clip.

For those unaware, a game going “gold” means that final development touches has been done, and that the game is now ready to be manufactured and shipped to retailers. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the game is bug-free, or won’t have any issues. For a game like R6 Extraction, we are expecting a day-one patch to be available, as well as numerous title updates to constantly tweak the experience via player feedback.

Ubisoft has also revealed the Rainbow Six Extraction roadmap players can look forward to post-launch! Set for release this January 20, 2022 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, you can read up about the game’s Buddy System and more right here.

CD Projekt RED to Start Working on New Cyberpunk and The Witcher Games in 2022

CD Projekt RED’s slate for 2022 looks to be a very busy year; the new-gen versions of Cyberpunk 20222 are due out next year, and the developer will look to regain their playerbase’s trust with native releases for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That said, those will not be the only things keeping them busy next year, as it was recently confirmed by CD Projekt RED president Adam Kiciński that the studio will both be working on new Cyberpunk and The Witcher games in 2022.

In an interview with Polish outlet Rzeczpospolita, Kiciński was asked if CD Projekt RED has any major plans for new intellectual properties besides their two most popular ones: Cyberpunk and The Witcher. Kiciński answers:

“We are currently focusing on our two franchises. Both have enormous potential, so one of our strategic goals is to start working on AAA projects in parallel within our IPs, which is expected to happen next year.”

The studio is confirmed to be working on a new The Witcher project right after Cyberpunk 2077 ships, so this news should not come as a surprise. That said, it will be interesting to see how CD Projekt RED will handle this new title as they release the new-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 next year.

How will the developer handle these new Cyberpunk and The Witcher games? Are you planning to try the new-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 on your PS5 or Xbox Series X? For more information on everything CD Projekt RED, check out our archives for the studio here.

Someone Has Already Created a Battlefield 2042 Battle Royale Mode Using Portal Editor

While Battlefield 2042 doesn’t have a battle royale mode, it does have Battlefield Portal, which lets players create their own type of game modes. If you’re looking for a way to play some Battlefield 2042 battle royale, someone has made just that!

Battlefield 2042 Battle Royale Mode – Warfield 100 Gameplay

Battlefield fan chbmg created a mode called “Warfield 100.” Here are some of the game details along with gameplay footage (above) we captured:

“Warfield 100” is a 100-player battle royale. Features include a pre-game lobby, parachuting into action, a closing circle, random ground loot, a prison, and a spectator mode.

I’ll be hosting the game frequently for the next 1-2 hours and randomly throughout the upcoming days. You should be able to search for it by the name “Warfield” or the full name “Warfield 100 – Battle Royale” (the server name should be “Warfield Server” too).

If you want to host it yourself, here’s the code: AAGDWA

Full Game Details:

NOTE: Everything below is obviously subject to change over time from tweaks and bug fixes.

The game starts with a 60-second pre-game lobby to wait for human players to join (anyone who joins after the pre-game lobby is set to spectate). Everyone gets a random loadout in the pre-game lobby. There are 100 “active” PvP AI that are replaced by human players as people join the game. If more than 100 humans join, then some “inactive/boundary” AI will disappear and these extra human players will be set to spectate only [see limitations below]. The inactive/boundary AI are constantly “spotted” (glow red) and are used as follows: 12 for larger circle, 12 for inner circle, and 4 for the rectangular prison area (corners). The 24 AI for the circle all start out in one giant circle until the first circle contraction.

When the pre-game lobby ends, everyone is “terminated” [see limitations below] and redeploys in the sky with an M1911 and grenades (except AI players – they get random loadouts since they don’t know how to pickup loot). When first landing, it’s a good idea to search for ground loot. There will be an on-screen message indicating the distance to the nearest loot. Ground loot is invisible since the portal editor does not allow the placement of objects (and a bunch of AI players are already used in a “hacky” way to represent circle/prison boundaries). When the on-screen message says “on loot” (i.e. when a player is within 5 meters of the target), the player must crouch 3 times [see limitations below] to pickup a new random inventory item (primary/secondary weapon, gadget, or throwable item). The player can currently choose from available scopes on each weapon.

The circle shrinks and shifts position every 2 minutes – players must stay within the “larger” circle that closes into the smaller circle slowly over time. Whenever the circle contracts, the larger circle will slowly shrink for 2 minutes until it reaches the inner circle. Players take damage when outside the larger circle. Players who die are sent to the prison area and must fight to escape – players only require 1 kill at first but for every additional death (including while in prison), 1 more kill will be needed to leave. Players take severe damage quickly if they try to run from the prison area. If a player requires more than 4 kills to leave prison, then that player is terminated and “out of the game” (will redeploy in the sky with a sniper rifle and no ammo to spectate for the rest of the match). Also, when there are only 10 players left in the circle (i.e. not in prison or spectating), then the prison closes and everyone in there is terminated and switches to “spectating.” Any players who die after the prison closes go straight to spectating. NOTE: When spectating, a player can simply pull the parachute to gently float and choose any scope on the sniper rifle (which has no ammo intentionally) to watch the rest of the match – spectating players are teleported back upward when they fall too far.

As with just about any FFA battle royale, the last player remaining is the winner. In the extremely unlikely event that the game gets close to the time limit (currently set to 20 minutes), then the game goes into a “sudden death” mode where all players take a random amount of damage every second to help ensure that only 1 player survives/wins within the game time limit.

Limitations (mostly based on what’s currently available in the rules editor):

  • 28 AI players are normally reserved for circle/prison boundaries, but if more than 100 humans join, then some of these AI players will “disappear”
  • Players who join after the pre-game lobby (i.e. 60+ seconds after the game starts) or when there are already 100+ humans will be set to “spectate”
  • Even with just a few human players, the “spotted” AI are not always visible simultaneously, but messages are also used to indicate the distance/direction to center circle to help navigate
  • “Active” AI players (rather than those being used for “boundaries”) will sometimes fight inactive AI or leave safe zones to die randomly, so the game should be more fun with humans
  • Rather than redeploying, it was necessary to “terminate” players to move to different stages (e.g. if you get enough kills to leave prison, you will be immediately “terminated” but this doesn’t count against your deaths and you are redeployed in the air). For some reason, simply redeploying players wasn’t kicking off the “On Player Deployed” events
  • When picking up ground loot, it may be necessary to crouch more than 3 times due to the custom code “while loops” needing to run on 1-second intervals (alternatively, just switch between crouching/standing “slowly” every 1-2 seconds rather than rapidly changing stance)

We’ll keep an eye out for more creative and fun Battle Portal modes in BF2042, and will let our readers know it. In case you haven’t seen it, one fan has created the Squid Game Red Light, Green Light game in BF Portal.

  • Fixed a number of snapping issues with the new contextual Pipe base building part.

Hello Games has not shared the official patch notes for this title update, and here’s the latest news from the Experimental Build, which is usually part of the changelog for final build launches (via Steam):

That seems to be it. Once we know the official patch notes, we’ll be sure to update the post. Saber Interactive Upcoming Games Will Include a Mix of Indie-Style and Big Hitters, as Well As Multiplayer-Focused Ones

Saber Interactive, the publisher leading charge on big projects based on movies IP such as World War Z, Evil Dead, and the recently announced A Quiet Place game (based on the hit movie) doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, as some of the Saber Interactives’ upcoming games will not only rely on licenses, but that the studio has also revealed that they’re currently preparing to announce an onslaught of new games, some of which will be multiplayer-focused.

Speaking to MP1st, Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits had this to say concerning the publisher’s future plans.

MP1st: What’s in store next for the publisher? Future goals?

Tim Willits: After World War Z and Evil Dead the Game, we’ve just announced that we are publishing the A Quiet Place game which is being developed by the amazing iLLOGIKA studio in Montreal. And stay tuned because we are preparing to announce several more games very soon including some multiplayer titles in different genres that we think MP1st readers will be excited about. We are growing very quickly!

Tim’s statement of the publisher having several titles in the works echoes that of Saber own CEO, Matthew Karch as he had a similar statement during the Embracer Q1 earning call back in August about the publisher having tons of projects in the pipelines. However, the detail that some of these titles will be multiplayer-focused is new, and the fact that they will also be different genres than the ones that Saber currently has, gives us a bit of an idea of what to expect.

Elsewhere in our interview, we also asked Saber Interactive if they would consider doing any “AAA” budget style games, in which they suggested that current offerings, such as WWZ and their upcoming Evil Dead game are, at least in scope to them, those types of games as they can go toe-to-toe with other big co-op and asymmetrical horror games out there. However, they noted that they had “bigger and more ambitious titles in the pipeline,” with a mix of both indie-style and big hitters being announced soon.

With The Games Awards just around the corner, and Evil Dead: The Game releasing this coming February, we’re hoping are we’ll see some of these titles making their debut next month. Stay tuned to our full interview with Saber Interactive hitting the site soon.
