Dirt 5 Update 2.01 December 18 Races Out

While Dirt 5 racers just got the big 2.00 update for the game earlier this week that added wheel support and a host of other gameplay fixes, Codemasters has released the Dirt 5 update 2.01 December 18 patch. Given we just got a huge update a few days ago, expect this one to be a lot smaller in terms of fixes implemented.

Dirt 5 Update 2.01 December 18 Patch Notes:

HOTFIX 2.00.1

Released on PC on December 18, 2020. This hotfix, including just the Career mode inaccessibility fix, is now live on PlayStation and will also release on Xbox platforms.

  • Fixes issue causing players who’ve completed every Career to be unable to access the mode
  • Further performance improvements for Nvidia GPUs

That’s it for today’s Dirt 5 title update. If you spot any other gameplay-related changes, feel free to let us know what they are down in the comments below.

If you haven’t tried the game yet, go check out our review where we said, “DIRT 5 is a celebration of off-road racing that is crammed full with plenty of worthwhile content. It’s simplistic story while throwaway for some provides decent fun, and the variety of different racing modes ensure that the long career mode doesn’t get stale. Additional modes such as Arcade, Online and Playgrounds guarantee that even when you’ve cleared the Career that there is still plenty more entertainment to be had. Despite the occasional bumps in the road with performance and lackluster events, DIRT 5 is a great racing title that is deserving of your time. ”

Riot Games Developing League of Legends MMO

Looks like something is stirring in the pot of the developers who made the critically acclaimed multiplayer game League of Legends, as Riot Games is reportedly making a League of Legends MMO according to a tweet of the company’s VP of IP and Entertainment, Greg Street.

Here’s the aforementioned tweet and Street confirming it’s an MMO.

This is in response to a previous tweet post Greg made about starting something big and new for the League Universe.

I have news! My recent job at Riot has been to help develop the League universe, which we’re going to need! Because it is time. My new job is to kick off a big (some might say massive) game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create. PS We’re hiring

The news of the possible MOBA adds to the growing list of IPs Riot Games is growing since releasing League of Legends in 2009. They’ve followed up with other titles and games such as Legends of Runeterra, Valorant, and Teamfight Tactics, so this new MMO they’re developing can only mean good news for fans of the League franchise.

Be sure to check out our other news and features on Riot Games here.

Players won’t need to download any file for this Black Ops Cold War December 18 update, as the game client will automatically patch the double XP once players connect to the servers. Also of note: double XP and double weapon XP are exclusive to PlayStation platforms for 24 hours! After that, every platform will be getting it too. Treyarch explains this given how double XP will show up on other platforms now.

Friendly reminder: while PlayStation players are getting a 24-hour head start on 2XP today (despite the icon incorrectly showing up early on all platforms), everyone gets 2XP and 2X Weapon XP in #BlackOpsColdWar and #Warzone starting tomorrow at 10AM PT through Dec. 21st!

Cyberpunk 2077 Refunds Now Being Offered by Xbox

Looks like the woes for CD Projekt Red’s newest game in Cyberpunk 2077 don’t stop with PlayStation pulling the game off the PlayStation Store and offering refunds, as Microsoft and Xbox have officially announced that they are also offering Cyberpunk 2077 refunds for anyone who purchased the game digitally.

Here’s the tweet straight from Xbox themselves.

The thread also continues in the replies, with Xbox adding

While we know the developers at CD PROJEKT RED have worked hard to ship Cyberpunk 2077 in extremely challenging circumstances, we also realize that some players have been unhappy with the current experience on older consoles.
To date, we have granted refunds to the vast majority of customers who have requested one. To request an Xbox refund for Cyberpunk 2077, please follow the steps listed on our Xbox refund page here: msft.it/6010pXEHj
This is a big hit to CD Projekt Red and Cyberpunk 2077 — A game that has been in development for about 8 years and has stalled its 2020 release with delays before finally releasing just last week on December 10. Criticism and backlash came when numerous bugs and performance issues plagues the game, especially the PS4 and Xbox One releases of the game. CD Projekt Red immediately apologized and promised fixes, but it appears that the damage may be done and they are accepting any consequences like any unsatisfied players wishing to refund the game.
If you missed out any past news on Cyberpunk 2077, check it out here on MP1st.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now available for PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions to follow soon.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 1.18 Slashes Out Today for Party Features

Sucker Punch Productions has just rolled out Ghost of Tsushima update 1.18 today on the PS4! This new title update brings new party features to the game’s multiplayer mode, Legends, Read on for the complete info.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 1.18 S Patch Notes:

Here’s the official word on the patch straight from Sucker Punch:

In addition to a few minor bug fixes, this patch includes a new set of tools in order to address two things we’ve heard loud and clear from Ghost of Tsushima: Legends players – first, that you’d like some assistance in filling out your party for the Raid, and second, users quitting mid-match is impacting the experience in Survival missions.

In order to address this feedback, we’re adding new Fill Party options, which will offer the ability to set specific parameters when you’re attempting to find other players. This new tool helps you fill your party for Gold and Nightmare Survival missions, Nightmare Story missions, and yes, all three chapters of The Tale of Iyo Raid.

Because playing on these modes – especially if your intention is to complete all bonus objectives – requires organized, carefully constructed groups for an optimal experience, rather than simply matching you into a random game, our goal with these new options is instead to make sure you can find a group that’s tailored to your needs.

Using these Fill Party options, you (alone or with 1-2 members in your party) can search for players to complete your party of four based on your goals. This can include aiming to complete all Bonus Objectives, aiming to complete Story missions without getting wounded, completing Raid chapters with all Oni Chests, etc., as well as the option to only find players with microphones enabled. If you’ve been hoping for matchmaking in order to play the Raid, Fill Party is the way to go!

Once you assemble your party based on overall goals, you can then tactically sort out each player’s role and class in order to best ensure that your specific goals are met, which in turn will hopefully avoid the problem of players quitting mid-match when they’re unable to complete specific objectives.

While we’re hopeful this will allow players to find the type of party they need, we do want to be clear that this may cause increased wait times compared to our usual matchmaking. You’ll need to wait until a player (or multiple players) search for the exact parameters you’re looking for, so keep in mind that there may be a significant wait depending on how specific your request is.

If there are more gameplay-related changes included in the patch, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Borderlands 3 Free Co-Op Loot Drop Mini Event Announced

It’s time for the Borderlands Brigade of players to take up arms and go online again, as 2K has announced a new and free “Co-Op Loot Drop Mini Event” for Borderlands 3, which encourages players to team up with friends to earn more gear and loot as they play this limited time event!

Here’s the details on the new co-op event straight from the Borderlands team:

From December 17 at 9:00 AM PT through January 21 at 8:59 AM PT, all Badass enemies will drop more loot than normal whenever you’re playing online or local split-screen co-op. Plus, the bigger your player party, the more loot that drops, making this the perfect time to boot up four-player split-screen for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S!

Co-op Loot Drop’s effects apply to all Badass enemies game-wide, including any you encounter in paid add-on content*: Moxxi’s Heist of The Handsome Jackpot, Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock, Bounty of Blood, Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck, and even the Arms Race portion of the recent Designer’s Cut add-on (albeit at a slightly lower bonus rate for balance purposes).

If you’re playing with a new group of freshly minted Vault Hunters, the Co-op Loot Drop is a great way to gear up quickly. Meanwhile, more seasoned slayers can take advantage of the boosted co-op rewards in challenging endgame content like Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite and Takedown at the Guardian Breach.

Whether you’re quarantined with pals or just gaming online, this mini-event offers quality bonding time with a multitude of mayhem-filled moments. Show those Badass enemies who’s boss and reap the extra rewards before Co-op Loot Drop ends on January 21, 2021.

Be sure to check out the rest of our Borderlands 3 features here at MP1st.

Borderlands 3 is now available for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

SMITE Update 11.63 December 18 Patch Deployed Today

While Hi-Rez Studios just released the big The Legendary Tanuki update earlier this week, the studio has released the SMITE update 11.63 December 18 patch today! Given the bonus update isn’t due until December 29, this patch has been released more for technical/gameplay fixes that are critical to the game’s balance.

SMITE Update 11.63 December 18 P Patch Notes:

These are the changes listed by Hi-Rez on the official SMITE Trello board as part of the “incoming hotfix.”

  • Dreadbeard Poseidon skin disabled due to major hitbox issue with ability 1
  • Muting players from the scoreboard not working for consoles
  • EOML – MMR gain/loss does not displaying correctly after a Ranked game
  • EOML – Masters and Grandmasters players not displaying any UI for MMR/TP gains and losses
  • Ymir – Ice Wall cannot be cast over walls
  • Danzaburou – Passive icons not always tracking on UI/Buff properly
  • Danzaburou – Passive losing power on death
  • Danzaburou – Server crash condition involving deployable collision proxies

In addition to that, there was also a server patch released on December 16 which has the following fix:

  • Fixed players crash on relaunch after having just crashed at end of match lobby.

Note that we can’t say that all the items listed above have been touched in today’s new SMITE patch, but that’s what’s listed and given Danzaburou is part of it, I suspect this is why it was rolled out ASAP.

Same as before, if you spot any gameplay-related changes not mentioned above, feel free to share them down in the comments below.

Black Ops Cold War Free Trial Live, 2XP Exclusive to PlayStation for 24 Hours

Those unsure whether to pick up Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War or not for its multiplayer, you can try before you buy this weekend! There are two free trials planned! Check out the full Black Ops Cold War free trial schedule below, as well as the game modes and what to expect from it.

Black Ops Cold War Free Trial Schedule and Info:

Free Access Stage 1: Dec 17-21

Free access will come in two stages. Stage 1 starts on Thursday, 12/17 and ends on Monday, 12/21, and includes a combination of modes new to Season One or already available since the launch of Black Ops Cold War.

2v2 Gunfight

Get some Warzone Gulag practice in when the seminal 2v2 game mode from Modern Warfare returns in Black Ops Cold War in Season One. These fast, high-tension battles always end the same way: with the last duo standing. Face off with a rival duo on four maps: Game Show, ICBM, KGB, and U-Bahn, and be the first team to win six rounds to win.

Team Deathmatch

This classic 6v6 game mode needs no introduction. Eliminate your enemies and earn score for your team. First team to 100 wins. Maps include Moscow, Cartel, Miami, Satellite, Checkmate, Garrison, Armada Strike, Crossroads Strike, Nuketown ’84, The Pines, and Raid.

Featured Playlist: Nuketown Holiday 24/7

Deck the halls with this festive playlist, taking place in a reimagined Black Ops classic. Nuketown ’84 made its triumphant return in the lead-up to Season One, and this holiday version of the map adds an even brighter glow to the former Nevada testing ground. Jump into this 24/7 playlist and play Nuketown to your heart’s content in a variety of fast-paced modes.

Featured Playlist: Raid the Mall

Get ready for a two-map showcase featuring the fan-favorite Raid from Black Ops II and the neon-lit New Jersey mall at The Pines. With two medium-sized maps populated by a variety of scenic obstacles with an ‘80s aesthetic, Raid the Mall promises down-and-dirty battles, intense combat, and blazing fast gameplay.

Domination

The tried-and-true Call of Duty objective mode is back and better than ever. Two teams of six players fight for control of three objective zones. Earn score for each objective that your team owns. The first team to reach 200 score will achieve victory! Maps include Moscow, Cartel, Miami, Satellite, Checkmate, Garrison, Armada Strike, Crossroads Strike, Nuketown ’84, The Pines, and Raid.

Free Access Stage 2: Dec 21-24

Though Stage 1 ends Monday, 12/21, fear not. Stage 2 will pick right up where you left off. Not only are all of the modes from the previous stage available, you’ll also get the following:

Prop Hunt

The popular mode delivers its hilarious take on hide-and-seek, Call of Duty style. For those who don’t know, Prop Hunt pits two teams against one another: Hunters and Props. Props disguise themselves as scenery like baby grand pianos or mannequins, while Hunters try to track the Props down and eliminate them before they escape and blend in with the environment again. First team to take three  rounds wins.

Combined Arms: Hardpoint

In this new addition to Combined Arms, two teams of 12 battle to capture and control a moving objective across four maps: Armada, Crossroads, Miami, and Cartel. Use tanks, gunboats, and snowmobiles to own objectives and take out the enemy’s control. Although the time limit is five minutes, the clock will pause when either team controls the objective, allowing for epic comebacks. The first team to reach the 350 score limit wins.

Fireteam: Dirty Bomb

Drop into this frenzied 40-player mode to collect, deliver, and deposit uranium into several active dirty bombs sites. You earn score by killing enemies, gathering and depositing uranium, and detonating dirty bombs. Maps include two massive play spaces: Ruka and Alpine.

Double XP Schedule:

  • December 17 (10 a.m. PT) to December 21 (10 a.m/ PT) – Double XP, Double Weapon XP for multiplayer and Warzone (only for PlayStation)

Call of Duty Warzone Attack Helicopter Temporarily Removed Due to Invisibility Exploit

For those anticipating the big Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War integration with Call of Duty: Warzone with this week’s Season 1 launch, that excitement has no doubt been dampened by a few gameplay issues brought on by Black Ops Cold War’s weapons, and the introduction of the Warzone Attack Helicopter invisibility exploit.

While this is a bummer and is a game-breaking glitch, Raven Software has announced that the Attack Chopper has been temporarily pulled from Warzone while this bug is sorted.

!PSA! The attack helicopter has been temporarily removed from both #Warzone maps – Verdansk and Rebirth Island. The vehicle will return once the related issues have been fixed. The normal helicopter will remain available.

To clarify, this change is to combat the bug causing players to appear invisible to others.

We’re hoping this gets sorted ASAP just like the Black Ops Cold War update released yesterday due to PS5 and PC issues. Given the studio hand-off for Warzone, I suspect the Warzone Attack Chopper invisibility exploit won’t be the last gameplay hitch we’ll see, but I’m hopeful to be proven wrong.

Destiny 2 Update 2.08 December 17 Drops Hotfix 3.0.1.3 Today

While guardians just got a new Destiny 2 patch earlier this week, Bungie has rolled out the Destiny 2 update 2.08 December 17 patch today, or what the studio calls hotfix 3.0.1.3! This includes a small list of gameplay-related changes and fixes, which can be seen below.

Destiny 2 Update 2.08 December 17 Patch Notes (Hotfix 3.0.1.3):

General
  • Fixed an issue where Stasis crystals could be used to wedge oneself between a rock and a hard place, resulting in Guardians being phased through closed doors.
  • Fixed an issue where players could encounter a crash when emote swapping while frozen.
  • Fixed an issue where Warlocks could emit a damage impulse using Vesper of Radius without using their Rift charge.
      • With this resolved, Vesper of Radius may once again be equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where players could achieve Solo Flawless Dungeon Triumphs using checkpoints.
  • Fixed an issue where settings for Motion Blur, Film Grain, and Chromatic Aberration would reset to default between play sessions on next-gen consoles.
It’s a short but sweet list! Don’t forget to check out this week’s reset of activities and rewards, too! Also of note, this Friday, we’ll not only see Xur return, but also the first Trials of Osiris of the season! Check back here on MP1st for that once it’s live.
