Medal of Honor: Warfighter Multiplayer “Shortcut Packs” Now Available

Electronic Arts and Danger Close are now offering Medal of Honor: Warfighter “Shortcut Packs” which will grant you access all 12 international Tier 1 units within your class of choice in Warfighter’s multiplayer. You can also go big and unlock all units for every class in one go with the Global Warfighter Shortcut Pack.

Shortcut Packs are available on Origin, the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, or the PlayStation Network Store. Individual class Shortcut Packs can be purchased for $4.99 (400 MS Points) or $19.99 (1,600 MS Points) for the Global Warfighter Shortcut Pack.

Don’t forget that Medal of Honor: Warfighter’s first DLC, the Zero Dark Thirty Map Pack, is also now available for all platforms and that EA will be donating $1 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation from each map pack sold up through March 19 as part of Project HONOR.

Arma 3 Developers Return Home After Being Freed On Bail From Greek Prison

Having family in the Czech Republic, this news – great news – hits close to home quite literally.

Bohemia Interactive developers Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar have, at last, returned home to the Czech Republic after being released on bail from a Greek prison where they were held accused of espionage.

Last year, both Buchta and Pezlar were arrested by Greek authorities for photographing military installations in preparation for Bohemia Interactive’s upcoming military sim-shooter, Arma 3 for the PC.

Having been imprisoned for four months, matters were eventually brought to the attention of Czech President, Václav Klaus, whose initial appeal for release proved unsuccessful. However, it has now been reported that an agreement has been met between himself and Greek President Karlos Papoulias, resulting in a €10,000 bail for both of the two, – €5,000 each.

DayZ creator and fellow Bohemia employee Dean “Rocket” Hall expressed his excitement and relief, sharing the news on Twitter: “Ivan and Martin have been bailed after 128 days! This is the greatest news I could ever receive! Can’t wait to see them.”

Aliens: Colonial Marines – New TV Spot, Story Trailer, and PC Specs

Can’t believe the wait is almost over. With just under a month away from release, Gearbox, the wonderful team behind the Borderlands series, is already prepping up their campaign for their newest release, Aliens: Colonial Marines.

First up is the TV spot that just started airing a while ago. This will give you a good look at what Aliens is all about, all while maintaining some mysteries.

Why single player? We’ll, much like what Gearbox did with Borderlands, Aliens: Colonial will feature a dynamic drop-in/out campaign co-op. So, while the single player can be played alone, you’ll have the option to play with up to four other players online or 2-player local split-screen. Glad to see some Borderlands features make their way in.

Call of Duty Online Enters Open Beta, Big Changes For China’s PC Gaming Market Ahead

Last July, Activision and Chinese Developer Tencent announced an online-only, free-to-play iteration of the popular Call of Duty series aimed at the Chinese audience. According to the announcement trailer, which you can view right here, it would be based on the Modern Warfare setting and would include maps from the original Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2.

As of now, Call of Duty online is currently in its beta stages, open to the public.

According to NetEase gaming web editor Yin Jun’s chat with Kotaku, the arrival of Call of Duty Online marks a significant point in China’s internet gaming history. With consoles having been banned in the year 2000, gamers in China have had to settle on COD imitations and other PC-based, non-triple A, free-to-play titles in order to get their FPS fix.

“Tencent’s offering of COD:OL may cannibalize Tencent’s own lineup, as Tencent is the nation’s largest provider of first person shooters. In the long run COD:OL might affect how FPS games are made in China,” said Yin.

Though it may seem a bit late on the scene, considering the original Modern Warfare’s release date of 2007 and Modern Warfare 2’s of 2009, “these triple A titles have a sphere of influence and it doesn’t matter when they show up,” according to Yin. “Their popularity really only depends on what the games offer for Chinese players, if they are able to cater to Chinese players they will be popular.”

Another editor at NetEast who goes by the username Yang states that “players will undoubtedly benefit from the increase of international titles whether it be with better games or the promise of better games.”

Though no plans to bring such a title to the Western audience has been announced, Activision Chief Executive Officer of Publishing Unit Eric Hirshberg commented on the possibility earlier, stating, “I think we look at the Call of Duty Online game in China on its own merit as a great opportunity. That’s not to say that we won’t gain learnings about how it works in the micro-transaction-based format for the game. And there are a few other regions where that would be very relevant.”

Borderlands 2 – New Heads And Skins To Be Released On January 22nd, According To Gearbox

With Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt being released in less then 24 hours, the great folks over at Gearbox have just announced the next downloadable content Borderlands 2 fans can expect to get their hands on: New heads and skins for your favorite vault hunters.

What exactly can we expect to be added with this downloadable content, you say? Well, look no further. We have the first images of the first batch of heads and skins that is set to drop on January 22nd:

But that’s not all. Gearbox also stated during a recent live stream of Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game hunt that we should be expecting a total of 15 new heads and skins for our favorite vault hunters to be added. In addition, these heads seem to be apart of the new update that we covered in one of our Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt articles, in which you can read more about here.

At the moment, there has been no official announcement if these new heads and skins will be be available free of charge.

Also, in preparation for tomorrow’s DLC, Gearbox has rolled out a new compatibility pack just now. Restart Steam or your copy of Borderlands 2 to receive it.

Dust 514 Launches All-Out War Next Week With Open Beta Testing

After months of closed Beta testing, Dust 514, the Free-to-play FPS PlayStation 3 exclusive, and CCP have finally announced that starting next week, everyone will be able to download the Beta as it enters its open stage.

“The launch of the Dust 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and Eve,” CEO of CCP, Hilmar Pétursson said in a recent press release. “But this is just the beginning. As we have done with Eve Online, in the coming weeks,and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the Dust 514 experience, as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities.”

The Open Beta starts Tuesday, January 22nd and will be downloadable VIA the Playstation Network Store once the weekly Tuesday update goes live. No definite release date has been set for Dust 514, though we can expect the title to finally launch this year.

Minecraft – In-game Central Lobby Can Connect “Any Number of Servers” and Players

Reddit users and Minecraft builders HighlifeTTU and lazertester have managed to create an in-game, central lobby that connects multiple Minecraft servers at once, opening the doors to a number of possibilities, including the opportunity for a Minecraft MMO.

Fully equipped with a lobby, a swimming lounge and even a dance floor, HighlifeTTU and lazertester have created an in-game space where Minecraft players can chill, hang out, and find games with others. This rather impressive lobby can, allegedly, connect to “any number of servers” and support “pretty much any number of players.” Players can choose amongst a number of portals that will move them to a server of their choosing. An in-game message board has even been built-in to display available servers and the number of players who’ve joined each. Right-clicking on these these messages, or signs, will also transport you to that server immediately. Players can easily return to this lobby while in a server as well.

This, obviously, provides a much more pleasing, fun, and social way to find Minecraft servers, rather than having to sort through numerous lists. The scale of connectivity these two have managed to create also allows for some pretty nifty MMO-like possibilities.

Far Cry 3 Patch 1.03 Hits The PlayStation 3, Soon on Xbox 360

Far Cry 3 console patch 1.03 has landed on the PlayStation 3 while the Xbox 360 version sits through verification, soon to be released.

Below are a list of fixes for both the multiplayer, map editor and single player that you’ll notice after downloading the update on either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

Multiplayer fixes for the patch

General

  • Fixed several crashes
  • Fixed bug where user was unable to jump on certain surfaces
  • Fixed bug where players could become invisible
  • Fixed bug with 3D weapon images in Decoding menu
  • Fixed bug where weapons could disappear after completing objectives in Co-op
  • Fixed bug where users could get stuck in Loadout screen in Co-op
  • Removed “Reloading” shout after user shoots the bow
  • Fixed issue with overlapping UI elements when playing split-screen
  • Fixed bug where split-screen users could get stuck in black screen after a cinematic
  • Parties will no longer be allowed to numerically unbalance games
  • Improved and fixed several issues with host migration
  • Connection degradation will now properly trigger a host migration
  • Fixed several bugs with Loadout menu
  • Fixed bug that could display a profile restriction message when trying to join a lobby
  • Fixed bug where users could get stuck in 3rd person in Custom games

Single Player fixes for the patch

  • Fixed issue with accessing the camera and the throwing rocks.
  • Fixed issue with accessing weapons. The user weapon inventory will be restored as soon by entering in a safehouse or by fast travelling.
  • Users that have miss the Relic located in Dr. Earnhardt cave will have the relic recover.
  • Fixed the bug with the weapon models staying on screen / stuck on the character arm.
  • The leaderboard is now updating correctly even after if the user is disconnecting/reconnecting the ethernet cable
  • The objective is now properly updated after Jason burns the weed fields.
  • New options the hide the HUD are now available in the option menu.
  • Add support for downloadable content.
  • Fixed the issue when the user was becoming invincible after failing mission ‘Black Gold’ several times.
  • The Phonecall from Hurk (ULC missions) is no longer overlapping the brief of the ‘Piece of the past’ mission.
  • Fixed the game crashes happening when the user reconnect to Ubisoft servers using an account that has unlocked any MP item.
  • Fixed the issue when Sam was no longer in the jeep’s turret after placing two bomb and being kill several time in ‘Black Gold’ mission.
  • Sam is no longer getting stuck when the user destroy an enemy car.
  • Fixed the buttons issue related to the Lefty Stick Controls scheme.

Diablo III Patch 1.0.7 Preview – Blizzard Shines a Light on Dueling

Though initial plans to introduce player-versus-player (PvP) to the world of Diablo III in the form of a Team Deathmatch (TDM) mode were scrapped only a few weeks ago, Blizzard still has plenty of updates to share when it comes to the soon-to-arrive patch 1.0.7 for Mac and PC.

Luckily for those with a competitive edge, patch 1.0.7 is not entirely void of PvP elements. While TDM collects dust on a shelf, Blizzard would like to introduce you to the idea of dueling. In a recent blog update, Wyatt Chang of Blizzard describes exactly how dueling in Diablo III will work.

  • To duel another player, you’ll need to speak with Nek the Brawler at the inn in New Tristram
  • Speaking with Nek will take you and your party to the Scorched Chapel, a new zone designed specifically for player combat
  • This zone has custom geometry and features four different areas: the church, the graveyard, the river, and the lake
  • Dueling currently supports up to four players in a Free-For-All format, which means you can battle your friends either one-on-one, three-player FFA, or a full four-player FFA
  • If you die in the dueling world, you will be resurrected in the dueling zone
  • Death is not permanent in the dueling zone, even for Hardcore characters
  • You don’t take any durability damage while in the dueling zone
  • When you’re done dueling you can take a portal out or use your Town Portal to return to town.

Chang goes on to explain Blizzard’s philosophy behind dueling, revealing that the “intent is to provide players a safe, opt-in location where they can fight one another for bragging rights (or maybe science) without the potential for griefing as it existed in Diablo II.”

He adds, “the game doesn’t keep score and there are no objectives. We wanted dueling to be as simple and straightforward as possible, so we created a minimalist system — we know that even without rewards and objectives, some players just want to beat each other up. Some matchups may be one-sided, and we don’t expect that battles will be necessarily balanced. But that’s okay, because dueling in Diablo III is more about kicking ass and taking names in a no-holds-barred sort of way, and this design certainly allows you to accomplish that.”

In addition to dueling, patch 1.0.7 will be fixing and tweaking a number of elements, including classes like the Wizard and Monk, crafting, monsters, experience and much more. You can read up on the full list of changes here.

Black Ops 2 – Zombies Invade Nuketown On The PS3 and PC January 17

The time has come for PlayStation 3 and PC owners to get their undead fix with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s zombified rendition of the classic Black Ops map, Nuketown.

Treyarch has announced that PlayStation 3 and PC users who own the Black Ops 2 season pass will be able to download Nuketown Zombies Thursday, January 17.

Black Ops 2 season pass holders on the Xbox 360 got their chance to download Nuketown Zombies last month, while those who purchased either the Limited or Care Package edition of Black Ops 2 on any platform received Nuketown Zombies within.

League of Legends Creators Riot Games Go Big For eSports

With eSports becoming more and more popular each day, many gaming companies have taken and interest in helping its growth by creating events with big prize pools as well as content quality. Riot Games is one example of this, constantly supporting eSports and continuing to do so in Season 3 of their League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). The LCS will be divided in two regions, NA & EU, where teams from each region will compete against each other for glory.

Eight top tier teams will compete in the series (each team playing a total of 28 matches during both halves of the season) for a chance to enter their respective playoffs where the teams will compete for a ticket to play at the Season 3 World Championship. Since every team at this point will be extremely competitive, there are no favorites. The games are also planned to be streamed and casted with free HD quality, with NA matches being Thursday-Friday and EU matches being Saturday-Sunday.

Taking the game to a next level is not an easy task.

A mid season All-Star tournament is planned, where players will be able to represent their respective regions to show which one is the best. Besides the All-Star tournament, there’s a mid-season promotion tournament, where the four teams with the lowest rating will fight against the rising top amateur teams for the chance to continue participating in the LCS tournament, or leave their spot to one of the rising amateur teams. This is the “go big or go home” time, where players will have to show why they deserve to be called one of the eight best teams in the region.

Offline Qualifier Teams: However, at the moment, both regions have only three spots occupied (Team SoloMid, Counter Logic Gaming and Team Dignitas for NA, ex-Moscow 5, ex-CLG.EU and SK Gaming for EU), and the other 5 spots will be determined by the Season 3 Qualifiers. NA Qualifiers will take place in Los Angeles, starting today, January 11, and ending on the 13. EU Qualifiers will be held January 25-27 in Warsaw, Poland. The League of Legends Championship Series is planned to start February 7 through April 20, while the second half follows from June 1 through August 30.

[Updated] Gearbox Preps Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt DLC With In-game Event This Weekend

According to the latest Gearbox blog post, the team is preparing for the arrival of Borderlands 2’s third add-on DLC, ‘Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt,’ by kicking things off with a special in-game event.

What exactly is this special in-game event, you say? Simply put, starting today, expect to see powerful shotguns dropped more frequently and with other weapons featured within the following days. Unfortunately, don’t expect the supply for these powerful shotguns to last long, as Gearbox has mentioned that the supply of these powerful shotguns are expected to last until 5:55 PM EST Saturday, January 12th.

If you’re wondering how you can get your hands on these shotguns, Gearbox has hinted that certain areas, some more than others, will see an influx of rare shotguns.

With the launch of Halo 4, 343i updated Forge Mode to help streamline the content creation process to make it as efficient as possible. Unfortunately, the online File Browser previously seen in both Halo 3 and Halo: Reach was not implemented for Halo 4. Since there is no longer a ‘central base’ for finding custom gametypes, maps, images, and videos, players have to resort to perusing YouTube, Halo fansites, and random forums in an attempt to find quality content. Until the File Browser makes its return (if ever), the goal of Forged From Scratch is to feature the most phenomenal content that we can round up for you to download and help keep the Halo 4 experience as fresh as possible.

Over the years, Halo’s Forge community has sharply refined their creative talents to a razor’s edge. Some of these remakes do an amazing job of not only recreating the general aesthetic, but in some cases, matching the original map’s dimensions to a T. Now, with the 3rd generation of Forge Mode available, the Forge community has put the new tools to exceptional use and put out some of its best work yet.

This week, Forged from Scratch will focus on classic map remakes from Halo 2.

Leviathan (‘aka Colossus’)

Without question, my most played playlist in the entire Halo series is easily ‘Team Doubles’. The constant voice communication between you and your buddy while using a strategy of stealth when leading the game and an aggressive ‘hunter’ approach when losing has led to some of the best matches I’ve ever been apart of. One of those maps that helped build my budding love affair with the Halo series was Colossus.

I have to give credit to MO LICIOUS. The original Colossus was the second most heavily themed Covenant level next to Midship. Despite the fact none of the Forge maps included in Halo 4 scream “purple!“, the visual aesthetic created in Leviathan is sensational. Even though the level no longer retains its Covenant themed-roots, Leviathan stands out as one of the most visually appealing maps ever, retail or otherwise.

There are two things I took note of right away (excluding the abundant lack of purple). First, the map seemed extremely dimly lit compared to other maps I had tried. The second thing I noticed is how the dark contrast works superbly with the light and shadows produced through the giant window. Just glancing at the shadow cast in the center of the stage just kept screaming ‘screenshot’. In fact, all my shots included it to some extent. Since two of the predominant choke points are the base spawns, pursuing your enemy across the brightly lit bridge to their dimly lit base adds a heightened level of tension to the match.

A couple other things I appreciated were the inclusion of the overshield powerup at the bottom of the giant window, the sniper ledge on the window, and the power weapon spawns. Teams will generally race for the overshield (located on the bottom floor directly between the red and blue spawn points) with some hilarious results. Sometimes, you’ll get gunned down way before you pick it up. The best, however, is when you pick it up with just one shot left before you die. Since overshield pickup’s grant invulnerability until the shield has fully charged, you get a couple extra seconds to retaliate against your assailant without worrying about your health. Since there is literally nowhere to hide on the bottom floor, this creates plenty of ‘oh sh*t’ moments when the assailant (or assailants) realizes he is going to be cut into swiss cheese and ultimately teabagged or ‘Holohumped’ despite having the advantage early in the fight.

The sniper ledge on the top of the window is also back. I was nervous at first thinking it was only accessible by jetpack, but you can easily make it with or without a crouch jump. As per the original, the Covenant sniper rifle can be picked up off the ground once you go up the airlift. Since the sniper ledge on the window is on the opposite end of the level from the Covenant Sniper spawn, it adds a level of risk/reward whenever attempting to transverse the length of the level to bring the sniper to one of the best sniping spots on the map.

MO LICIOUS does an excellent job of remaking a classic symmetrical map with a brand new palette. The lighting and shadows from the window alone is worth the download. Leviathan, in my opinion, is worthy of being included in paid DLC. I can’t wait to play CTF on it and not have to worry about opponents doing a super throw from one base to the other ala Halo 2.

Lockout (‘aka Lockout/Blackout’)

Did I say I love ‘Team Doubles’ maps? Yes. Did I ask if you were sick of seeing them? No, no I did not.

Lockout first made its debut in Halo 2, and was ultimately released for Halo 3 as Blackout in one of the DLC packs. I’m sure if you ask any Halo vet about which map comes to mind for the gametype ‘1 Flag CTF’, you would get at least 8/10 players that said Lockout.

Natsu nii‘s aptly named Lockout doesn’t try too hard at camouflaging what it is trying to be: an accurate remake of the so-addictive-it-should-be-illegal Lockout. Since there is no arctic palette to work with, Natsu nii’s rendition features textures that bear no resemblance to the original theme. However, this map nails the layout and dimensions. The sniper tower (with the sniper spawn) has a ramp on the back that connects the first and second floor. The angle of this ramp in Halo 2 allowed for frag grenades to bounce and curve to the left which helped take out or force a retreat of your lurking opponent. Needless to say, all is right in the world, as the ramp angle prevents grenades from bouncing too high or beyond the railing. The angle is just right.

Some notable inclusions are the power weapon spawns. The shotgun is at the end of the long and narrow hallway located under the sole airlift in the level. Be careful, as an opening in the ceiling allows an enemy to drop down and potentially sneak in a kill. As for the energy sword, it is in its usual spot but is leaning against a wall instead of floating on a pod. A Sniper Rifle spawns at the top of only one of the sniper towers. Be careful though, as the rifle is leaning on a bevy of explosion coils that can be detonated either by gunfire or grenades from almost every angle.

One addition I did take notice of is a ledge at the top of the structure with the air lift. It seems to only be accessible by jetpack, and is just underneath the creator imposed kill zone. It might be the fact it wasn’t there in the original, or the fact it brings up horrible memories of the time that 10-year old got a plasma kill on me and then proceeded to super jump to the top of that structure to earn himself a 1-0 victory via time expiration, but I would actually prefer to see it removed.

Although my preference is a 2 v 2 format for this map, Lockout is also suited for matches with up to 12 players. Other than the not so welcome ledge addition (which again, is my opinion for reasons me and my therapist never got to the root of), Natsu nii’s take on the classic Lockout is a great addition to any custom map rotation.

Stratum (‘aka Foundation’)

I will flip a coin: Heads, and its a ‘Team Doubles’ map. Tails….its still going to be a ‘Team Doubles’ map.

Foundation has an interesting history in Halo lore. Originally, Foundation was supposed to be an unlockable level for completing the campaign on any difficulty. Unfortunately, a bug in the code prevented it from ever being unlocked. So instead of patching in a fix to make it work properly (who knows if it was even possible), Bungie eventually decided to just make it unlockable for everybody, no-strings-attached.

To be frank, my initial impression of the map was disappointment. Considering Halo 2 featured plenty of maps with distinct characteristics such as Zanzibar‘s wheel, Lockout‘s sniper towers, and Colossus‘s giant window into space, to have the hype of being the ‘hidden map’ that couldn’t be unlocked only to see how…bland…the map ultimately was, kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. As time passed, I began to realize how much fun it could be in ‘Team Doubles’ (did I mention I loved ‘Team Doubles’ already?) as well as ‘Team SWAT’.

Since Foundation lacks not only visual distinction but complexity as well, it has become one of the most remade maps in Forge over the years. The picture really shows it all: Four closely packed bunkers on the bottom floor, two turrets (with air lifts next to them) opposite each other with two adjacent double ramps that allow players to get back to the second floor. On the second floor, there are four colored pillars lined up as if they made up the corners of a square. Directly behind each pillar is a small room only accessible from the second floor. There really isn’t any distinction amongst the four rooms except the room behind the red pillar that had the rocket pods you could crouch jump up to. In Stratum, that room is still there, but the rocket pods are removed with just empty ledges in its stead. To be honest, the difficulty of accessing this camping spot was part of the allure of the room and now it is gone. Barricades on the ‘pod ledges’ are wide enough for a player to be completely hidden from view. An interesting alteration that I’m not too fond of.

Since there isn’t a lot of cover on this map, any match with more than 8 players will result in copious amounts of spawn killing. Other than the minor qualm with the ‘pod ledges’, RegardlessDolan knocks it out of the park with Stratum nailing the most important aspects of Foundation.

Update: RegardlessDolan had responded letting me know he was adjusting the room with the ‘pod ledges’. An updated version (2.1) was placed in his file share, and I can say, it feels a lot more like the way I remember. The tall forerunner object that was placed in the update requires a very well-timed crouch jump in order to get up to the ‘pod ledges’. Imagine being up 18-17 in a match and you’re trying to hide for survival, only to fail the jump a couple times as you see the enemy blip approaching you on the radar. Those moments generate a lot of excitement in a match. Also, the barricades are a bit thinner so that you are partially exposed. This allows a player to be seen should their opponent advance about 75% into the room (the sight line here feels almost identical to the original). So kudos to RegardlessDolan for being such a perfectionist and eradicating my minute complaint. The definitive version of Foundation (which also changed the air lifts a bit) can now be found in the file share of SgtIIMofo and RegardlessDolan.

Camp Froman (‘aka Zanzibar’)

Who wants another ‘Team Doubles’ map? *cricket* *cricket* Anyone? *cricket* *cricket* *cricket* Oh fine, here you go.

Camp Froman is placed inside the Forge map Ravine. The dimension constraints of Ravine are immediately apparent as both the Red Team and Blue Team spawn dimensions don’t accurately reflect the original’s. CommanderColson does make good use of the existing geometry of Ravine at both spawns despite the absences of the beach as well as the collapsible windows. Although the appearances and dimensions aren’t exact replicas in the team spawns, CommanderColson more than captures the original essence of the map.

Camp Froman begins to really shine once you step off the shore or head out of the base. The center of the map with the iconic wheel (which FYI, doesn’t spin, but you can still make your way to the catwalk by sprinting up the cylinder) makes good use of the included Forge textures to not only accurately recreate the dimensions of the original wheel, but the catwalk connecting to one of the sniper towers as well. In case you haven’t played this classic map, try to ascend the wheel as quickly as possible and grab the Spartan Laser that awaits at the top. Since the maps are less open for vehicles than say Valhalla/Ragnarok, it’s fairly easy to quickly dispose of oncoming Warthogs and Ghosts.

Speaking of the sniper towers, excluding the missing camouflage power up in the East Tower, both are almost exactly the way I remember. The open doorway on the second floor of the East Tower (where the camouflage power up used to be) is one of the best spots for close range weapon kills as well as assassination attempts. I’m glad to see it back in this remake. The West Tower has a ramp both on the left and the right to reach the second floor as well as the missing section to drop inside to the first floor. The right ramp on the West Tower also connects all the way back to the Blue Base, just like the original.

Although this map can be enjoyed in 2 v 2 thanks to two separate sniper spawns, the bread and butter of this map is 8-14 players duking it out with power weapons, trying to capture flags, and destroying vehicles. Considering space constraints can be an issue with Forge maps, especially with the absence of Forge World, I am particularly impressed with how CommanderColson pulled this off. Although the vehicles physics have changed since Halo 2, I still look forward to trying to get a killing spree in the Warthog.

If you’re interested in downloading these maps and more, you can do so easily inside Halo 4.
  1. After advancing past the start screen, press ‘Start‘ again to bring up the menu
  2. Go down to ‘Settings and Files’ and select ‘File Browser
  3. Select the type of content you wish to download. In this case, select ‘Map Variants
  4. Scroll down to ‘File Share Search‘ and select it. For Gamertag, type in SgtIIMofo (no space, two capital i’s in the middle)
  5. Hover over the file you wish to download, and Press Y for ‘File Options‘. When the menu pops up, select ‘Download‘.
  6. Congratulations! You have successfully downloaded the file.

Defiance – New Co-op And Television Trailer

Trion Worlds have released a brand-new Defiance gameplay trailer, this time showing off it’s massive co-operative mode.

If you didn’t know this now, Defiance, the game, will be getting a TV show tie-in that will debut on the Syfy channel this April.

Unlike most TV and game adaptations, Defiance does something new by linking both the game and the show together as a cross-platform series. What ever happens in either of them, will happen in both. If you want a full experience, you’ll want to partake in both the game and the TV show as it’ll offer a more deep and richer story.

Here’s a sneak peek at what to expect.

Halo 4 – The Next Few Weeks: DLC Details, More Spartan Ops, Matchmaking Updates and More

Have you been craving the second half of Halo 4’s first season of Spartan Ops? What about patiently waiting for a few matchmaking updates and news on Halo 4’s next DLC? If so, we got you covered with details on what’s to come in the following weeks in the world of Halo 4.

According to a recent post from the Halo Bulletin, here’s what fans can expect in the following weeks, including the second half of Halo 4’s first season of Spartan Ops as well as a few incoming matchmaking updates:

Week of 1/21

  • Spartan Ops Episode 6: Five new missions and an accompanying new CG cinematic.
  • “Forge Test” playlist (name not final): A rotational hopper featuring small Forge maps such as Relay. Help us test these maps by providing feedback and reporting bugs that will assist us in getting them ready for Matchmaking!
  • Specializations: Pioneer and Pathfinder Specializations unlocked for all players.

Week of 1/28

  • Spartan Ops Episode 7: Five new missions and an accompanying new CG cinematic.
  • Grifball playlist: A rotational hopper featuring everybody’s favorite virtual sport. Catch the disease!
  • Specializations: Engineer and Stalker Specializations unlocked for all players.

Week of 2/4

  • Spartan Ops Episode 8: Five new missions and an accompanying new CG cinematic.
  • Team Doubles playlist: A rotational hopper for those of you that like action of the 2 vs 2 variety.
  • Specializations: Rogue and Tracker Specializations unlocked for all players.

In addition to this, the Halo bulletin goes on to say that fans of Halo 4 should be seeing matchmaking updates to go live every Monday, and a potential playlist for the month of February will include both FFA game modes as well as an improved Team Snipers.

But that’s not all, February is also expecting to see the arrival of Halo 4’s second DLC add-on titled ‘Majestic Map Pack,’ which is set to include two small maps and one medium-sized map. More information is to be revealed pertaining to the upcoming map pack in February.

Battlefield 3 Premium Members Get Five New Assignments and Weapon Skins

Are you a Battlefield 3 Premium member? If so, the next time you boot up Battlefield 3, you’ll find five brand new assignments in the “My Soldier” section of the in-game menu.

Upon completion of each assignment, you’ll earn a brand new weapon skin for the M416 assault rifle, the ACW-R carbine, the JNG-90 bolt-action sniper rifle, the M240B light machine gun, and lastly, the PP-19 sub-machine gun.

In order to earn these new camos, the Battlelog asks you to complete the following for each assignment.

Borderlands, All Borderlands DLC and Borderlands 2’s Gaige The Mechromancer Half-Off Until January 14
