According to creator Dean Hall, the DayZ standalone will run on a client-server architecture, much like the way an MMO is run, rather than the current ArmA2 architecture.
As he puts it on his blog, “the application will move into a traditional client-server relationship which the server makes most of the decisions. This is the common architecture behind virtually every MMO currently out there, and it will be DayZ’s architecture when it releases.” The development team sees this as a “dramatic plan to change the face of DayZ and how it will hit the world at the end of this year.”
By ensure the server will run the world of DayZ, rather than the client, it should prevent hacking and performance issues that can often plague the current DayZ mod. Also, considering DayZ does not require the same complexities of player and AI interactions that ArmA does, it made the decision all the more logical.
Hall explains, “we’re not just locking the application and data down any more, but we’re making the server the umpire. We’re ripping out everything not required and replacing it with an optimized solution that has players (the survivors) and AI (the zombies). Our zombies don’t need to conduct flanking maneuvers, they don’t need to reload their magazines. They are simple, and our architecture reflects that. Achieving this will be tough, as we are already crunching very hard. If this heavy optimization is as successful as it would rationally seem to be on paper, then we will be limited on player numbers not by performance, but map design.”
Testing will commence “at some point, soon,” according to Hall.
In an upcoming patch due out within to coming months, Blizzard will be adding Global Play to the StarCraft II universe.
“Global Play will give you access to StarCraft II game servers in regions outside your own, expanding the possibilities for eSports, exposing you to maps and games that aren’t yet published everywhere, and making it easy to play with your friends in other parts of the world,” reads the official website. Blizzard also mentions that each region will have separate profile data, meaning data like characters, profiles, ladder ranking, progress and friends lists will not carry over between regions.
Blizzard also notes:
Players will be able to freely switch between regions via the StarCraft II login screen.
When your region’s game servers are undergoing maintenance, you may be able to play in a different region that is not down for maintenance.
Your game language and user interface will not change when you change regions.
Players using Global Play will be subject to the in-game policies of their selected play region.
Getting pumped for Black Ops 2? Though we are still a full day and a few hours away from release, you may have noticed a Black Ops 2 copy in the hands of a number of gamers who’ve managed to attain it yearly through various means.
The question most likely pops up in your mind, as well as in others’: will those who’ve been playing before the official launch date have their stats reset at 12:00am this Tuesday morning?
Treyarch game design director recently answered this question in a series of tweets: “FAQ. Will people be reset? A. Read the previously linked Security/Enforcement policy. Unless you are a bad person doing bad things, no.” He adds that “it’s a giant game with a lot of infrastructure that needs to be deployed over several days.” Treyarch most likely feels it unfair to reset the stats of those who’ve attained a legitimate copy of the game, but we’d definitely like to hear what you think in the comments below.
To those who have received an early, legitimate copy, Vonderhaar says, “Enjoy the game. Services will be spotty as we prepare for the official launch,” adding that “It’s a rolling start. Expect bounces the new few days as we bring up extra services.”
Vonderhaar also recently handed out a few tips to those wanting to take part in live streaming League Play games when Black Ops 2 launches on day one: “If you are interested in live streaming those League Play games you will (optionally) want the right camera. Currently supported cameras: 360: Vision. PS3: Eye. PC: Most USB Cameras. It’s like getting a free starter kit for live streaming and works incredibly well, given how complicated the entire thing is under the hood.” He also commented on the Xbox 360’s Kinect, mentioning that it is currently not supported: “I know a lot of you probably have a Kinect, but it is still [being] evaluated as a video camera for the feature. More on that later.”
He also answered a few frequently asked questions, stating that the streamer’s voice does go to the live stream when recording, a YouTube channel is needed though a partnership is not, and that 10 viewers are needed to activate the stream while good upstream bandwidth is a requirement.
Lastly, those on the lookout for more Black Ops 2 PC news can look forward to what a Treyarch developer working on the PC version recently tweeted, “On the post-launch patch task list: 90 FOV.”
So, what are you doing to get prepared for Black Ops 2?
Fusible has dug up EA’s domain ownership for the Battlefield franchise. It turns out that the company purchased the main Battlefield website, Battlefield.com, back in 2007 for $80,000 USD.
Also, EA now owns all Battlefield domains up to Battlefield9.com. With Battlefield 4 set to release next year, this goes to show EA’s commitment to its’ flagship shooter for years to come.
However, this also raises the question, would you like to only play major Battlefield releases in the main series with constant DLC packages like Battlefield 3 Premium? Or, you would rather have the major Battlefield sequels further apart with more spin offs in between, such as Battlefield 1943 and the fan-favorite 2142 along with the last installment’s expansion packs?
Let it be known right away that the following could very well be considered spoiler-filled to many.
Yes, it’s most likely possible to view upcoming unlocks while in-game regardless, but you may fall into the category of people who like to see what’s in store for them they day they open up the game and pop it in their Xbox 360, PS3 or PC this November 13. So, read at your own risk.
Below is the entire unlock progression of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2‘s multiplayer, provided by Reddit user FortRank.
You’ll notice right away that Black Ops 2 does away with the CoD Point system adopted in the original Black Ops, but instead follows a more traditional, set unlock pattern. Also, check out the very last perk/item you unlock. You may find it intriguing.
While you’re at it, you can also check out all the Black Ops 2 multiplayer maps, including their loading screen and layouts for Domination, Demolition and CTF.

Hey there vault hunters. Have you been itching for more information on Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Borderlands 2 second DLC expansion pack, or even the second DLC character class?
If so, then you will be glad to know that Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, has recently tweeted out during a session of answering fans questions that details of this leaked DLC expansion will be announced shortly. So far, we know that it revolves around the Torgue gun manufacture that specializes on explosive weaponry .
In fact, Randy tweeted that it will actually be released before the year is over and that details will be revealed a few days after Mr.Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage’s announcement. But that’s not all. Recently, the Borderlands 2 achievement list for Steam has been updated to include 3 new achievements, which have been revealed due to it being available on the PS3 version of Borderlands 2. They are:
Explosive – Completed the mission “Long Way To The Top”
Motorhead – Completed all Campaign of Carnage side quests
Obsessed – Colletected 10 pictures of Moxxi in Campaign of Carnage
If Steam updating Borderlands 2 achievements recently is any indication, then you can expect that this explosive DLC is set to be released sooner then people think.
If that’s not enough to quench your thirst for more Borderlands 2 info, a member from the Reddit community has claimed that he was able to determine some quotes from this new DLC from the PS3 version:
Mr.Torgue’s Campaign Of Carnage quotes
Moxxi line:
Ah, the Gunzerker. Frightening, yet…hairy.
Storyline stuff:
Listen carefully, mouth-breathers of the world — this is Patricia Tannis, and I have found another Vault.
As I was saying, I’ve discovered that this new Vault is buried in the center of a large crater and will only open, and I quote, “once the champion of Pandora feeds it the blood of the ultimate coward.”TORGUE: We at the Torgue Corporation sincerely believe that is F****** AWESOME! It’s SO awesome that we’re gonna set up a tournament to find this “number one badass”! If you want in, come to where the Vault is buried — in the Badass Crater of Badassitude!
Tiny Tina new quest:
Ohmygodohmygodohmygod. Do you know who just arrived in the Beatdown? SULLY THE STABBER! He’s my THIRD favorite mass-murderer in the ENTIRE WORLD! You HAVE to go get his autograph for me.Get his signature on this. Please. PLEEEEEASEpleasepleasepleasepleaseplease. If I don’t get his autograph I’m gonnaDIEEEEE. He’s my favoritest! He killed every living person on the Bathymas with nothing but a rusty butterknife! If you don’t take it I’m gonna start crying.Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. (making a song out of it) Oh-baby please. Please. Please. P-p-please. Please. Please. Pleeease. That was ”Please,” by Tiny Tina featuring the Vault Hunter on bass.OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH. Sully’s out in the Beatdown. Just bring me his autograph and you will be my FAVORITE PERSON EVER. FOREVER.
From the looks of these quotes, you can expect this DLC to include yet another raid boss. It also seems similar to the original Borderland’s second DLC, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome, which pitted you against numerous foes in waves just like in the slaughter domes that are found throughout Borderlands 2.
Lastly, Randy Pitchford has tweeted out a brand new set of Shift codes for Borderlands 2 Golden Keys, as of 10:54am PST, Saturday November 10.
WinPC: C3CBJ-CW5HS-6J3TJ-3B33T-5RXFJ
PS3: CBWJ3-6HRZJ-6ZJK3-9BKBT-WH3FZ
X360: CBWJ3-6HRWR-3XRJ6-5FJBT-WH3H6
For you vault hunters on the Mac, don’t forget that Borderlands 2 will be released on November 20th. You can read more about it here.
What type of raid boss would you like to see to be included in this upcoming DLC? Leave your thoughts on the comment section below!
As we previously reported, the PS3 version of Black Ops 2 features an optional texture pack to optimize the game on the system. It’s now been revealed by TGH that the texture pack will set you back 1.8 GB in HHD space, if you choose to install it. It’s worth noting that Black Ops 2 is the first Call of Duty game to allow a texture pack on the platform.
In other news, Black Ops 2 multiplayer servers have officially gone live on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, according to game’s official status page. Both consoles are on Defcon 3, which means:
Matchmaking services are enabled. All other services are undergoing continued maintenance in preparation for launch (films, emblem editor, CODTV, leaderboards, recent games, etc). Occasional disconnects should be expected.
The PC and Wii U versions of the game are still on Defcon 1, which means that they are offline.
Are you going to install the texture pack come November 13th? Please let us know in the comments below and be sure to keep an eye on our Black Ops 2 page for the latest news.

Things aren’t looking too good for Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
We at MP1st have always felt that the Medal of Honor series has done an honorable job at portraying what it is that makes a soldier a soldier. In the latest installment, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, developers Danger Close even went as far as contracting several U.S. Navy SEAL members as consultants for a couple of days last summer in order to capture the level of authenticity the team was looking for. The result was a portrayal of realistic gear and tactics used by real Tier 1 operators, translated into the game world of Warfighter.
Apparently, however, this portrayal might have been a little too real, according to CBS News.
Seven members of SEAL Team Six (one of which was actually a part of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden), who were involved in the development of Medal of Honor: Warfighter are now under investigation for revealing classified material, material which has not been disclosed to the public or media as of yet. Not only this, but their involvement was also considered a violation of the unwritten code, “SEALs are silent warriors who shun the spotlight.”
Though all members are still on active duty, four have since transferred out of the unit but are still under investigation. All seven members have reportedly received letters of reprimand and had half their pay taken away for two months.
We reached out to EA to find out if this would have any impact on the game itself and were told:
There are no plans to recall Medal of Honor Warfighter from store shelves and we have no plans to alter the content contributed by combat veterans in the game. We have no further comments.
Additionally, Polygon was issues the following statement after reaching out to the U.S. Department of Defense:
A non-judicial punishment hearing was conducted yesterday, Nov. 7 and seven Naval Special Warfare (NSW) personnel faced administrative proceedings. An additional NSW investigation is ongoing to determine if more personnel may be involved.
They are being charged with violation of Article 92: Orders violation, misuse of command gear and violation of Article 92: Dereliction of duty, disclosure of classified material.
Two Senior Chief Special Operators and five Chief Special Operators received the punishment. They received a punitive letter of reprimand and forfeiture of ½ month’s pay for two months.
Thanks, James R!
In other news, Medal of Honor: Warfighter isn’t doing too hot on the official Xbox Live activity charts, according to Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb’s blog. Currently, Warfighter sits in 19th place, just above Resident Evil 6.
We gave Medal of Honor: Warfighter a solid score in our multiplayer review, praising gameplay elements like the Fireteam mechanics and competitive game modes like Home Run. Are you still enjoying Warfighter?

Halo fans, get ready for some multiplayer playlist shake-ups in the next few weeks. 343 Industries has detailed that they plan weekly updates for Halo 4. With Halo 4 launching worldwide just a few days ago, 343 is already looking on how to improve your experience.
So you’re probably asking what is coming in the first update? One mode, titled SWAT, a fan favorite of previous Halo’s. Players will be equipped with the Battle Rifles, DMR’s and Magnums. You will have no shield or radar and one headshot counts as a kill. Ordnance drops will not appear while playing SWAT.
The following damage chart displays the kill spots.
DMR – 3 bullets to the chest, 1 bullet to the head
BR – 7 bullets to the chest, 1 bullet to the head (the gun shoots a 3-bullet burst, so the first bullet of the third burst will kill the player)
Magnum – 3 bullets to the chest, 1 bullet to the head
The following maps will be playable in SWAT.
Haven
Adrift
Complex
Abandon
Solace
“We will maintain a static set of playlists and feature one or two ‘rotational’ playlists on top of that,” community manager Jessica Shea wrote on Halo Waypoint. “We will be monitoring trends and statistics closely so we can react accordingly to your preferences and likes. For instance, if one of our rotational playlists consistently holds a higher population than one of our static playlists, we will consider swapping them out based on player demand. The process will be fluid and based on numbers, and we’re extremely excited about the benefits of our new approach.”

First gameplay details of Rockstars’s Grand Theft Auto V have hit the net!
Now, you won’t normally see single player details from MP1st, but it is GTA V, after all, and the latest issue of Game Informer has laid out what you can expect from this year’s biggest game and Rockstar’s biggest game title (literally) releasing this Spring, 2013. We’ve rounded up all the details below so sit back and soak it up.
There will be three main protagonists who come together to perform various heists, a major theme in Grand Theft Auto V. Each have their own unique life in which they live throughout the course of the game, including their own hobbies and social circles. Players will be able to switch between each character with the press of a button at any moment when not in a mission. However, missions can also be experienced from different perspectives and each character will have his own strengths.
Trevor, Franklin and Michael
Michael
A retired bank robber in his early 40s who. Now in the witness protection program. Wife has burned through his substantial fortune, forcing him to get “back into the game.”
Social circle: Wife and son (Amanda and Jimmy).
Trevor
Friend of Michael. Around the same age as Michael and described as a “drugged out psychopath.” He’s a career criminal and prone to violence.
Social circle: Paranoid conspiracy theorist friend named Ron.
Franklin
Works as a repo man. In his mid 20s. Described as “the young and capable one of the bunch.”
Social circle – “Crazy friend” named Lamar.
Each character will be customizable in terms of clothing, but not of weight or height. Romancing others will not be an option.
On top of performing heists and living out their everyday lives, characters will encounter dynamic events like checking up on broken down cars, picking up hitchhikers, chasing muggers and robbing cash vans.
The fictional world of Los Santos will be the biggest open world in the history of Rockstar, “bigger than Read Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV and San Andreas combined.” Underwater areas, the wilderness and a military base will also be explorable locations. Players will be able to cruise the world of Los Santos in vehicles like bikes, cars, trucks, helicopters, planes, ATVs and jet skis. It is also possible to take part in many leisure activities like yoga, triathlons, jet skiing, base jumping, tennis and golf.
Though some pedestrian models have been mapped using motion capture for more realistic movement, Rockstar hasn’t employed any celebrity voices for the game. There will be an in-game economy to spend cash in, but real-estate will not be purchasable.
Driving mechanics have improved to mimic racing game standards. Cars now “hold to the ground a bit better” and have “a little more physics on them.” Shooting and melee combat have also been improved.
The cellphone returns, though it is now more similar to a smart phone, while options previously only available in your phone will now be accessible on the map.
Lastly, there will be appearances by Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City characters, but not major ones like Niko Bellic. According to Rockstar, all the Grand Theft Auto games on the PlayStation 2 are considered one universe while Grand Theft Auto IV and V exists in a “high definition universe” separate to the others. This means there will not be any crossovers when it comes to returning characters.
It’s official. PS All-Stars Battle Royale has officially gone gold and is set to release on the 20th of this month on the PS3 and PS Vita both at retailers and digitally.
To celebrate this announcement, Sony has released a brand new trailer that is actually the intro to the game. It features all the characters and their rivals, along with a glimpse at the final boss.
