Death Stranding on Xbox Series X|S Faces Quick Resume Save Issue; Fix in Progress

The surprise launch of Death Stranding: Director’s Cut on Xbox Series X|S has been one of the most unexpected pieces of news recently. Many players have likely jumped straight into Hideo Kojima’s unique adventure, but some have already reported a significant issue related to the game’s Quick Resume feature.

For those unaware, Quick Resume is a popular feature of the Xbox Series X|S that lets players switch between games seamlessly. However, if not implemented correctly, it can sometimes cause problems.

Death Stranding Xbox Quick Resume Bug Affects Saves

As reported by Windows Central journalist Jez Corden, loading Death Stranding: Director’s Cut through Quick Resume will prevent players from being able to save their game again. To avoid this, players need to fully close the game after finishing and also remove it from Quick Resume before restarting.

In response to Corden’s post on X/Twitter, 505 Games confirmed that they had received the feedback and informed the development team about the issue and a fix is expected soon. Until then, players are advised to avoid Quick Resume entirely to prevent progress loss during gameplay.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut was unexpectedly launched yesterday on Xbox Series X|S. This surprise release may be connected to Hideo Kojima regaining full rights to the intellectual property, five years after the game’s original debut on PS4.

Currently, the game is also available at a 50% discount across all platforms for a limited time, with the original price reduced to $19.99. If you’re on the fence whether to get it or not, read on here for our review of the PlayStation version where we state, “Death Stranding is a title that will be remembered for a very long time. Offering a unique approach to gamers and showcasing what Hideo Kojima can do when he appears to have full control over a video game.”

Sony Plans to Release a Mix of Single-Player and Live-Service Games; PlayStation 5 Sales Surpass 65.5 Million

Sony has revealed its financial report for the quarter ending September 30, showing steady growth in its Game and Network Services division. The company expects record operating profits for the fiscal year (April 2024 – March 2025), driven by strong third-party game sales and growing PlayStation Plus subscriptions. Moving forward, Sony plans to focus on a mix of single-player titles and live service games.

According to its latest financial report, Sony’s G&NS division posted ¥1,071.5 billion ($7.01 billion) in sales, a 12% year-on-year increase. Operating income rose significantly to ¥138.8 billion ($908 million), more than doubling from the same period last year. This growth was largely fueled by increased sales of third-party games, improved profitability in hardware, and higher network service revenue. Sony highlighted the success of titles like EA Sports FC 25 and Black Myth: Wukong as key contributors.

Sony shipped 3.8 million PlayStation 5 consoles during the quarter, down from 4.9 million during the same period last year. However, total PS5 shipments have now reached 65.5 million units, just a few million behind the PlayStation 4’s sales at a similar point in its timeline.

The company’s network services revenue, including PlayStation Plus and advertising, grew by 18% year-over-year, driven by higher subscription tiers and pricing adjustments. Monthly active users for PlayStation Network increased to 116 million, compared to 107 million a year ago.

Sony also acknowledged challenges in its live service strategy. While Helldivers 2 has been a massive success with 12 million copies sold, titles like Concord failed to perform, leading to the closure of Firewalk Studios. The company plans to use lessons learned from Helldivers 2 and Concord across its studios to improve its live service approach and focus on a mix of single-player and live service games.

Software sales for PS4 and PS5 jumped to 77.7 million units, up from 67.6 million last year. Digital sales accounted for 70% of total game sales, an increase from 67% a year ago. Astro Bot, which launched in September, has sold 1.5 million copies. Sony noted that 37% of its buyers were new to first-party games, a promising sign for its reach.

Sony forecasts continued growth for its G&NS division, with sales expected to reach ¥4,490 billion ($29.3 billion) for the fiscal year, up from an earlier estimate of ¥4,320 billion ($28.2 billion). Operating income projections have also risen to ¥355 billion ($2.3 billion).

Although hardware sales have slowed, Sony seems confident about the future. With highly awaited games like Grand Theft Auto VI set to release in Fall 2025, the company expects a strong year ahead.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Update 1.005 Rides Out

Nixxes Software has pushed out Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered update 1.005 on PS5, with the PC version’s patch released yesterday as version 1.1.42.0. This brings various fixes to the game, and as one might expect, there’s no new content in this whatsoever.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Update 1.005 Now Available for Download

Nixxes Software hasn’t acknowledged today’s PS5 patch, but the studio did share the changelog on the PC version’s latest update released yesterday. We’re assuming most of the fixes are the same, save for those PC-specific tweaks.

  • Pre-rendered cut scenes now have the same audio volume as gameplay.
  • Improvements related to Steam Input*.
  • Resolved a crash that could occur for some players when adjusting mouse and keyboard controls.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause disappearing and/or flickering shadows in Meridian when playing on ultrawide resolutions.
  • HUD markers for objectives are now rendering correctly when using a custom Field of View setting.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a bow to appear floating in a cinematic.
  • Various user interface improvements.
  • Performance improvements.
  • Stability improvements.

In addition to that, Nixxes has acknowledged that players have been running into issues when using controllers with Steam input enabled. While this patch contains improvements for it, the dev team is working on additional updates to fully address the issues. One workaround mentioned by the studio involves disabling Steam Input when using supported controllers.

Warner Bros. Games to Focus on Batman Games and Other Core Franchises to Improve “Success Ratio”

The years have not been kind to Warner Bros. in general, from films and TV shows to even their games, and this isn’t something that the media giant isn’t aware of, as they admittedly acknowledged it in their latest earnings call. Though with the realization that now is the time to turn things around, they’ve revealed that they are releasing fewer titles going forward, with a bigger focus now being put on their core franchises such as Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, Game Of Thrones, and DC, with the latter being specifically, Batman.

Warner Bros. Games Will Be Doubling Down on Their Core Franchises

Speaking during their latest earnings call, Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav revealed that, on the gaming side, they’ll now be shifting away from releasing so many titles years and instead focus on four of their most profitable franchises, putting proven studios to work on them to turn things around.

“We’re going to go away from trying to launch 10, 12, 15, 20 different games. I think we have a real chance now with focus to have the gaming business be steadier…We have four strong and profitable game franchises with loyal, global fans: Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, and DC in particular Batman. We are focusing our development efforts on those core franchises, with proven studios to improve our success ratio.”

What’s even more of a standout here is that though the company owns the rights to other DC properties, some of which we saw featured in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Zaslav specifically points out Batman. This is likely in part due to how disappointing Suicide Squad performed, with them trying to play it safe, especially since Batman: Arkham Shadows was released last month with high praise from critics and gamers alike.

Of course, we don’t expect a new Batman game anytime soon, but it’s nice to know that it is something we’re more likely to see more from. Now, let’s just hope they can make a hit from it, as well as Game of Thrones, as I’m sure many, including me, are hungry for a brand-new game.

Throne and Liberty Update 14.200.692 Out; First Look at Tax Delivery and Castle Siege Events

Throne and Liberty update 14.200.692 (version 1.6.0) has just been released on all platforms, which is mainly for some backend fixes while the servers undergo some planned maintenance. Additionally, we now know exactly what to expect from the two events coming this month as the studio has provided us with a first look.

Throne and Liberty Update 14.200.692 Patch Notes

According to the studio, this update mainly focuses on stability and back-end service improvements. There is not really much else beyond that, though they did take the servers down to prepare the game for the upcoming events, Tax Delivery and Castle Siege. Details on each events can be found below.

Tax Delivery Event

Now that all First Defenders have been selected, the reigning guild may schedule the Tax Delivery event for their server.

  • Reigning guilds may schedule a Tax Delivery between 2PM and 1 AM local server time.

  • To check when the Tax Delivery event is scheduled, open up your Map and then check the Timetable under Daily.

Tax Delivery is a major guild event where the reigning guild must protect a caravan of taxes acquired from their territory. If the reigning guild successfully transport their spoils from Vienta Village to Stoneguard Castle, they’ll receive a generous bounty of Lucent and Sollant. However, if an attacking player thwarts the delivery, the rewards will instead be distributed to every participant outside of the First Defenders’ Alliance.

Each Tax Delivery begins with the reigning guild selecting a member to become the Tax Delivery Golem. Capitalize on powerful abilities as the Titan Cargo to fend off the seemingly endless onslaught of players that will stop at nothing for a piece of the prize. Communication and coordination between the reigning guild can make or break a delivery.

Attacking guilds must destroy the Titan Cargo Sealing Stone. Fortunately, they have the ability to contend with the might of the Titan Cargo through barriers, bomb carriers, Archeum Knights, and the fearsome debuffs of the Chaos Golem.

How will you prepare to stop, or secure, the Tax Delivery?

Castle Siege Event

The first Castle Siege event will commence on November 17.

As the siege begins, guilds have 45 minutes to achieve victory. Attackers must storm the castle, breach its fortified gates, and capture the throne room. Defenders, transported inside the castle at the start, must hold their ground, leveraging every resource at their disposal to repel the invaders. If the throne is contested when the timer runs out, the siege enters a tense 3-minute overtime, where the battle’s outcome hangs in the balance.

Strategic locations like Siege Ruins play a crucial role. Capturing these ruins not only provides teleportation and resurrection points, but also allows attacking guilds to summon powerful Siege Golems. Each golem — whether it’s the Stone Crasher, Battle Carrier, Gate Hammer, or Jump Attacker — brings unique abilities to the battlefield, from devastating castle walls to transporting players over them.

Attackers must navigate the castle’s intricate layout, using environmental elements like the sewage system for surprise ambushes or operating gate levers to control access points. The Pillage Stones and Resurrection Stones scattered throughout the battlefield add another layer of strategy, offering opportunities to steal resources or reinforce their position. While most guilds will focus on taking power in the throne room, these 5 Pillage Stones can be captured by any attackers to snatch Sollant and Lucent from the Castle Vault, even if the reigning guild maintains control.

No matter your strategy, all tactics will converge at the throne. There can only be one champion of Stoneguard Castle. Form alliances to rule together or betray your way to the top.

That’s all for today’s update. We’ll be seeing you all in-game soon once the servers come back online in about two hours! In the meantime, if you haven’t already, check out our review for Throne and Liberty!

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Update 1.008.001 Slings Out Performance Pro Mode for PS5 Pro

Continuing with its game updates for the PS5 Pro, Insomniac Games has released Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered update 1.008.001, and this is after the game got a patch a few days ago. This means that Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and this game all got patches multiple times in less than two weeks.

The patches are, of course, tied to the PS5 Pro, which officially becomes available starting today.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Update 1.008.001 Brings Performance Pro Mode to PS5 Pro

Insomniac notes that “this patch introduces the “Performance Pro” graphics mode when running on PlayStation 5 Pro.” Thanks to the update, players can now toggle the mode on if you have a PS5 Pro, and playing with the mode “targets a smooth 60 frames-per-second while retaining the image quality of the standard Fidelity mode through use of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.”

All ray-tracing features are also on, which includes ray-traced reflections.

As to what modes have been added by Insomniac to take advantage of the PS5 Pro, here are the new graphical modes available:

THE NEW GRAPHICS MODES

PERFORMANCE PRO (Default for PlayStation 5 Pro)

This mode targets a smooth 60 frames per second while retaining the image quality of the standard Fidelity mode through use of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). All ray-tracing (RT) features are on, including ray-traced reflections, ray-tracing on water, and ray-traced window interiors. This mode is recommended for most players.

FIDELITY PRO

This mode targets 30 frames per second for players who want to experiment with new ray-tracing graphical features. These new features can be tuned individually to reach higher intermediate frame rates, especially when using the “VRR” or “120 Hz Display Mode” options. Pedestrian and traffic density may be increased in some areas, and fine hair detail is increased.

You can check out more about it here.

Outside of the PS5 Pro enhancements, the patch also includes a fix for a rare hair-rendering artifact, per the studio.

Alongside the Insomniac games, a bunch of other first-party games also got PS5 Pro patches, and even some third-party ones as well. Chances are, more and more games will be patched to take advantage of Sony’s mid-gen console refresh, and once another one is up, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. You can check out the list released by Sony to see the confirmed games getting upgraded with the PS5 Pro’s launch.

PUBG Spinoff Project ARC Preview – A Top Down Challenger

We go hands-on with Project Arc, a top-down isometric PvP shooter developed by Krafton, and set in the PUBG universe. After playing it for a short amount of time, it has given us a rather promising and exciting new competitive shooter with quite the skill ceiling.

An Early Press Event Showed Us Big Competitive Potential, Even If the Studio Wrecked Our Shit

You know, typically, when we attend a press event, it’s pretty normal for the developers to sort of go easy on us in their games, while we get used to it. I know, I know, that paints us press as being bad at video games, which, you know, we can debate or not about, but that’s for another time. But with Project ARC, Krafton took a bit of a ballsier approach, and in the few matches we got to play through, they destroyed us. I mean, I know all of us in the press were new to the game, but god damn! Did Krafton really put their foot on the accelerator and say, “Haha, too bad, scrubs, we aren’t going easy on you!” We were like chickens trying to fend off a pack of hungry rabid wolves, and as one probably would expect, it was an absolute massacre.

That would normally be reacted to with the same kind of response, that being “negative,” but honestly, it actually left me more excited because I had witnessed just how far the strategic depth could go, even if I was on the receiving end.

In our hands-on, we played through about six matches, half being Team Deathmatch and the other being Demolition, which  is an attacker and defender type of mode. But before we could begin a match, the game had us choose from eight different classes. I called them classes because I wouldn’t really consider Project Arc to be your everyday hero shooter, as the only differences between the characters, outside of looks, were the types of gadgets they each had. For the most part, they were pretty basic ones, too, like a grenade launcher, camera, medkit, etc., something more commonly seen in a shooter like Battlefield.

Once that was picked, we loaded up into our first Team Deathmatch match. Again, the studio destroyed us, but at least in this mode, we had a fighting chance since it had unlimited respawning. From a combat perspective, being top-down was an interesting choice on Krafton’s part, but once I started moving, I totally understood what they were going for. If you ever played Tacticool or Door Kickers, you probably understand what I mean about the gameplay, but for those who haven’t, the game doesn’t exactly reveal everything to you from this perspective. Sure, you have a full view of sections of the map as you move through it, but enemies and you won’t just show up unless they’re within aiming view. That means characters can hide behind corners and still be pretty “stealthy” in their approach. But to counteract this, there’s a shared cone of vision, meaning that you have your field of view; your teammates do too. So if they spot an enemy, you’ll see them from your side if they are on screen. Additionally, the game has friendly fire, which we, huh, made sure was working A LOT during our hands-on.

In many ways, this isn’t just your everyday PvP shooter, where you run around a map endlessly, racking up kills. No, instead, Project Arc, despite being rather fast-paced, takes a more strategic approach. As we witnessed from the dev side, coordination is key, and being able to communicate with one another is an absolute must. It also makes for a faster, more enjoyable experience, something we in the press started using more as the matches went on. Again, we sucked, but I won’t deny we had some laughs shared and some really tense moments that had our adrenaline pumping when bodies started dropping.

Of course, TDM is your traditional multiplayer mode, and I really enjoyed its fast, frantic gameplay, but I think where most of the action will be is with Demolition. It’s essentially search and destroy, with an attacker and defender side, round-based, and limited to one life per round. The twist here, though, is that it’s more akin to, say, Rainbow Six Siege, giving you prep stages and the ability to set up traps and even reinforce walls. I wasn’t expecting that because, typically, things from other modes sort of carry over. Like in Call of Duty, Search and Destroy is round-based and limited respawning, but beyond that, the core gameplay remains the same; you just have to be more careful about things.

In execution, even though I was dying the moment I took a step into the defender zone, it felt like teamwork worked in a rather natural way as we slowly began to plan out things, trying to one-up the devs at their own game. It never happened mind you, but I know we were having a pretty good time with it trying to see how many we could take out before our eventual teamwipe.

We didn’t get to play too much, a little under an hour, so it’s hard to stretch any more of this hands-on beyond what’s here. But I will say that Project ARC showed a lot of promise, and even though we had our asses handed to us, I could see how much potential this game could have in the competitive market. I know many may dismiss it for its visuals (the art direction is pretty solid, to be fair) and being top-down, but I think Krafton could have something big here. I’m hoping they have an open beta before its 2025 release, as that’ll give us a much better look, but as of right now, I’ll say it’s in pretty good shape, outside of some still work-in-progress UI elements.

Project ARC has no release date other than a 2025 window. At the moment, it’s only confirmed to be in development for PC.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Update 1.004.002 Swings Out for Stability Improvements

It seems like Insomniac Games is on a game update spree! Following the PS5 Pro support patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was then followed up by an update to fix the flickering issue, the studio has now released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 update 1.004.002, and this is another minor patch.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Update 1.004.002 Brings More Stability Improvements

There’s one single line from today’s patch notes from Insomniac Games:

  • This patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 includes stability improvements.

Yep, that’s about it. As for the patch that was released last week, it housed the following improvements:

  • Addresses an issue where the mask on Miles’ Advanced Tech Suit was white across different styles
  • Stability improvements
  • Fixes for possible flickering during fast travel introduced in 1.004.000
  • Adjustments to localized options descriptions introduced in 1.004.000

For those wondering what the PS5 Pro support does to the game, it adds the following graphic options:

THE NEW GRAPHICS MODES

PERFORMANCE PRO (Default for PlayStation 5 Pro)

This mode targets a smooth 60 frames per second while retaining the image quality of the standard Fidelity mode through use of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). All ray-tracing (RT) features are on, including ray-traced reflections, ray-tracing on water, and ray-traced window interiors. This mode is recommended for most players.

Pedestrian and traffic density may be increased in some areas, and fine hair detail is increased.

Alongside Spider-Man 2’s update today, the standalone Miles Morales also got a patch this November 7, and even Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart got one today as well, which was also for stability fixes.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Update 1.005.002 Released

While we already got the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PS5 Pro patch two weeks ago, Insomniac Games has been tinkering with the game, and has pushed out update version 1.005.002 today! This is a stability patch more than anything, but we’ve added in the other fixes from the previous patch as well.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Update 1.005.002 Patch Notes:

Per Insomniac Games, this title update mostly does the following:

  • This patch includes stability improvements for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

However, there was also a patch (version 1.005.001) released after the PS5 Pro support update that added localization options and more.

  • Stability improvements
  • Adjustments to localized options descriptions introduced in 1.005.000
  • Adjustments to grass materials that were causing blurring in some ground areas

As for the PS5 Pro enhancements, players can look forward to the following new modes:

Unless this patch breaks something, we’re not expecting any other updates from the game to be released.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Update 1.015.001 Brings Performance Pro Mode, Hair Rendering Fix

While Insomniac Games released a patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to add in PS5 Pro support, it seems that was incomplete, as the studio has pushed out yet another update today. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Update 1.015.001 is available for download now, and this adds Performance Pro mode to PS5 Pro owners, as well as a hair rendering fix that applies to all players of the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Update 1.015.001 Patch Notes

According to Insomniac, “This patch introduces the Performance Pro graphics mode when running on PlayStation 5 Pro.”

Players can expect 60 frames-per-second without compromising image quality, as Insomniac notes, “This mode targets a smooth 60 frames per second while retaining the image quality of the standard Fidelity mode through use of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. All ray-tracing features are on, including ray-traced reflections.”

Finally, Version 1.015.001 also includes a fix for rare hair-rending artifacts and a fix for a blurring issue on one player suit in the pause menu.

That seems to be it for this title update. That said, we were surprised to see another one released today given there’s not a lot of issues left in the game that needs patching up.

EA UFC 5 Update 1.016 Adds Two New Fighters and PS5 Pro Support

Mixed martial arts fans playing EA’s latest UFC game is getting some new stuff from the developers, as there’s two new fighters out for free today! Players can download EA UFC 5 update 1.016 on all platforms right now, and aside from the new fighters, this also slots in PS5 Pro support.

EA UFC 5 Update 1.016 Adds New Fighters and More This November 7

UFC 309 Fight Week Challenges and New Alter Egos

  • These will go live on November 12, 2024, at 10 am PT.

New Fighters

  • Carlos Prates

Carlos Prates –  One of two “Fighting Nerds” coming to UFC 5. Carlos made a splash in the UFC by KO’ing his opponent in the second round and since then he has rattled off two more KO victories. Prates’ fighting style is Muay Thai through and through, he uses each of his eight limbs to devastate his opponents until they can no longer stand with him and decide to shoot for a takedown but by then it’s too late, and the next thing they know they are looking up at the ref asking what happened. Precise fast striking, clean footwork and good takedown defense are what you get with Prates in UFC 5.

  • Jean Silva

Jean Silva (Featherweight and Lightweight) – To say Jean Silva is a wild man is an understatement, just take a look at his post-fight debut where he barks at the camera after knocking out his opponent in the first round, or the war he had in his last fight with the ultra-tough Drew Dober. “Lord” may get a little wild but he’s also well-rounded, strong, and can take a punch or two or three. Silva is also on a three-fight win streak in the UFC, a testament to his team and training with the Fighting Nerds. Powerful punches and kicks and a stellar takedown defense round out Silva’s game in UFC 5.

Gameplay Updates

  • Fixed an issue that allowed the submissive fighter to immediately transition out of ground and pound after a diving punch or when the dominant fighter goes to postured mount after pouncing on cage knockdowns.
  • Fixed the camera angle after the reversal from full guard bottom to full guard top, against the pass to half guard (single leg reversal).

Misc. Additions and Updates

  • New assorted vanity rewards added.

PlayStation®5 Pro Updates

  • Increased display resolution to 4k during gameplay.
  • Increased frame rate of KO replays from 30fps to 60fps

That’s about it. Once another new patch is punched out by EA, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Update 1.009 Leaps Out for PS5 Pro Features

Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed game is now also PS5 Pro enhanced! Ubisoft has released Assassin’s Creed Mirage update 1.009, and this is to add in the PS5 Pro features to the game. Read on what to expect for those who bought Sony’s mid-gen console refresh.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Update 1.009 PS5 Pro Features

  • 4K 60 FPS with PSSR as an upsampling algorithm, for more faithful 4K details at 60 FPS.
  • ‘Quality Mode’ is now the default setting at 60 FPS (vs 30 FPS for the classic PS5 version).
  • Generally improved graphics, with better shadows and reflection fidelity, higher texture resolution, and generally improved draw distance (quality, details).

That’s about it, as there doesn’t seem to be any gameplay-related changes made with the patch.

In other Assassin’s Creed news, the in-development game in the franchise, AC: Shadows, has been delayed to February 2025, and this is following Ubisoft’s recent problems as of late, with high-profile release Star Wars Outlaws underperforming.  It’s gotten so bad, that reports have surfaced that the Guillemot family, which owns the majority of Ubisoft, is said to be talking to Tencent for a buyout.

While EA has yet to release any official sales numbers, it seems BioWare’s latest RPG is a hit, as it has broken EA’s record for most concurrent players for a single-player game when it launched.

Take-Two Boss “Not Worried” About GTA 6 Performance on Xbox Series S

The first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 has amazed fans with stunning graphics, raising some concerns about its performance on current-gen consoles—particularly the Xbox Series S, which is known to have lower specs compared to the Xbox Series X and PS5. However, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick assures fans there’s no need to worry.

During a recent earnings call, analyst Clay Griffin asked if Microsoft’s Series S might pose challenges for GTA 6. Zelnick responded confidently, explaining that Take-Two’s studios, including Rockstar Games, have both the technology and expertise to support platforms with varying technical capabilities. He said,

We support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech. Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried.

Zelnick also shared that the company is committed to platforms with large audiences, highlighting significant growth in PC gaming. He noted,

I’ve never worried about where hardware was going. And I’ve said this many times over the years because, first of all, I don’t worry about things over which I have zero control. And secondly because I do believe in the audience. The audience is going to show up if you have great properties, and so we just have to make sure to be on an array of platforms.

And if one platform diminishes in value, there’s always another one. So we’re seeing great growth in PC right now, for example. And I have been able to view that open formats would continue to grow. PC is an open format.

Zelnick expects PCs to continue playing a major role in the console business, saying,

I do think PC will continue to be a more and more important part of the console business going forward, and that isn’t complicated for us to support at all. So the bottom line is we are selective about which platforms we support. We make the tech work when we can make it work as long as the audience is big enough to make that worthwhile.

The Xbox Series S has historically posed challenges for other high-profile games. For example, Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox faced delays due to technical issues with split-screen co-op on the Series S, ultimately requiring that feature to be removed to ensure smooth performance. Similarly, Alan Wake 2 encountered hurdles on the console, as GPU and memory limitations prevented it from achieving 60fps.

Marvel Rivals also experienced drops in graphical quality, with resolutions going as low as 540p, affecting the visual experience. However, considering Strauss Zelnick’s confidence in Rockstar’s technical capabilities, it seems GTA 6 may avoid these issues on the Series S.

In related news, Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed that GTA 6 is still on track for a fall 2025 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Meanwhile, GTA 5 has reached an impressive 205 million units sold, marking another milestone for the franchise.
