In case you’re wondering why Fortnite is having matchmaking issues today, January 22, it’s because Epic Games has pulled the game’s servers in order to release a new title update.
Players on consoles will see the download as Fortnite 4.98, and this is for the game’s v39.30 content drop featuring a new game mode from Fall Guys.
Alongside this, the patch also fixes lag issues that has plagued gamers for weeks now.
Fortnite’s Latest Update Fixes Lag Issues and Rolls Out Crown Jam Game Mode via Patch 4.98
Crown Jam: A Limited-Time Fortnite Mode from the Fall Guys World
Get ready to fall for a new 3v3 arcade sport when Fall Guys Crown Jam hits Fortnite. From January 23 to February 9, this isn’t the Fall Guys in Fortnite you’re used to — it’s all about getting slam dunks on the other team’s side of the arena. It’s basketball… meets football… meets obstacle course chaos.
When you queue into Crown Jam, you’ll be put in one of six Crown Jam clubs each time. For Crown Jam up-and-comers, there’ll be a Ranked option so you can earn rewards for your Locker like the Less Fallin’ More Ballin’ Jam Track and Crown Ball Back Bling!
Finish five matches of Crown Jam to unlock the Blue Plushie Bean Back Bling. Earn this Back Bling and the Ranked rewards to show off in other modes.
Aside from the new Fall Guys game mode, expect the patch to fix the lag issues players have reported in conection with the Lobby menu screen. Epic states, “Tomorrow’s v39.30 update will fix several lag issues players have reported in the Locker and Lobby menu screens, such as delays when emoting, changing screens, or navigating your Locker.”
There is also a bunch of datamined content spotted in the new download, which we’ve included below.

Heroes
1. Deadpool’s VFX Makeover:
– Strategist Deadpool Hype Healing: The healing visual effects triggered by katana strikes have been polished up, because even the Merc with a Mouth likes his healing flashy and fabulous!

– Deadpool’s Screen Scene: We’ve adjusted the visual clutter from the ‘Deadpool In Your Area’ ability for all roles. Wade’s still got your back, just not blocking the whole screen anymore. Maximum effort, sub-maximum interference!
– We hope these visual upgrades improve your battle experience! We’ll keep a keen eye on any VFX that could cause serious interference and continue to polish them until they’re worthy of the Marvel name.
2. Phoenix’s Hot Potato: In rare cosmic circumstances, Phoenix’s ultimate could be destroyed by teammates’ projectiles. This fiery mishap is now history; no more friendly fire!
3. Marvel Moment Mishap: In some cases, when a hero is affected by an Ultimate Ability (such as Emma Frost’s) and another hero (for example, Spider-Man) uses a standard ability to score a terrain KO on the affected opponent, that hero (Spider-Man) could be left hanging without getting Ultimate Ability charge. We’ve set things right, no more tangled webs or cold shoulders! Now, everyone gets the energy they deserve.

Desk space tends to disappear quickly once a second monitor is added, especially when one of the displays is a heavier curved panel. Huanuo’s DS7 Dual Monitor Arm is designed to address this problem head-on, offering a sturdy, flexible mounting solution for users looking to clean up their workspace and improve ergonomics.
MP1st had the opportunity to go hands-on with the DS7 for a review, using it in a real-world dual-monitor setup to evaluate build quality, adjustability, and everyday usability. Given the price and quality, I believe it is worth it, but I will let you be the judge.
While Embark seems to have struck gold with free-to-play shooter The Finals, the studio's ambition doesn't end there, as the developers just released ARC Raiders, an extraction shooter, which was the first project announced by the studio.
Build Quality and Setup Experience
When you open the box, you will see that the monitor arm is neatly packaged and secured in place, and easy to remove. Upon removing each piece from the box, you can tell the base feels solid and that the materials appear to be high-grade aluminum. Everything fits together cleanly, and Huanuo includes hardware for both clamp and grommet mounting, supporting desks up to 3.5 inches thick. They also include instructions for setting up your mount, so be sure to check them out.
The setup process was straightforward from start to finish. From opening the box to adjusting both monitors, the entire install took less than an hour. The instructions were clear enough to follow without confusion (though you may not have needed it, as it was straightforward to put it all together), even when mounting two displays simultaneously. Once secured, the arm kept both monitors steady, including a decently heavy curved monitor that often highlights weaknesses in lesser mounts.
One small detail worth mentioning involves the cable management system. To fully hide the power and display cables for each monitor, the top section of each arm needs to be unscrewed. This applies only to the upper arm and requires little effort, but it is an extra step users should be aware of. Outside of that, the rest of the setup process was smooth. Though I want to note that it is a tight fit for cable management, so be aware.
With arms that extend up to 25 inches, the DS7 works well on deeper desks and wider layouts. That extra reach makes positioning easier and avoids the cramped feeling that some dual-monitor arms can create. Lifting the monitors completely off the desk also frees up valuable surface space almost immediately. Adjusting it took no effort at all for the monitors I have.
If you have ever wanted a game that blends the suave precision of James Bond with the brutal relentlessness of John Wick and the quiet danger of Hutch Mansell from Mr.
Everyday Comfort and Use
Once installed, the DS7 proves easy to live with. Height adjustments are smooth, with up to 21 inches of vertical movement available. Finding a comfortable viewing position takes only a few seconds, which makes a noticeable difference during long work or gaming sessions. Moving it is very easy. Make sure that in your initial setup, you tighten the bolt just enough to allow some fluidity in the arms’ movement and avoid stiffness.
Each arm supports a 90-degree swivel, an 85-degree tilt, and full 360-degree rotation. Adjusting may require loosening certain joints to move them (using the hex tool provided). Switching between landscape and portrait orientation is quick, and repositioning a screen to share content feels natural. The arms move smoothly without feeling loose, and once set, the monitors stay precisely where they are placed.
Despite supporting screens up to 40 inches and weighing up to 26 pounds each, the DS7 does not feel stiff or overbuilt. Even after multiple adjustments, the arms remain balanced and stable. This is especially important for mixed setups that include curved displays, where weight distribution can be uneven. So far, both my wife and I like it and feel that it has not interfered with our everyday workflow.
Features That Add Additional Value
One of the more practical additions is the built-in USB port. Having a USB connection integrated into the arm allows for either added convenience or a cleaner setup, depending on how it is used. It works well for charging devices or keeping frequently used accessories within easy reach without adding more visible cables.
Once the cable management is in place, the DS7 does a good job of keeping wires neat and out of sight. Combined with lifting the monitors off the desk, the result is a workspace that looks more organized and intentional.
Overall, Huanuo’s DS7 Dual Monitor Arm delivers on its core promises. It is sturdy, easy to install, simple to adjust, and capable of handling demanding monitor setups. At this price point, it is an insane value and one I highly recommend for those looking for a good dual-monitor arm for their setup.
Pros
Durable and High Quality monitor arm
Easily installation is quick and easy
Will support heavy monitors
Verdict
9.5/10
For users looking to upgrade to a reliable dual monitor arm that prioritizes comfort, stability, and a cleaner desk, the DS7 proves to be a solid choice.

While the publisher and DICE have been silent about the upcoming season, a new leak confirms one of the new maps on the way, as well as a slew of new weapons set to be available.
As part of the Season 1 extension, DICE released the Battlefield 6 version 1.
The slate of info is now known thanks to a leak of the Battlefield 6 cinematic trailer, which happened today thanks to a leak from China’s social media site bilibili.
Battlefield 6 Season 2 Trailer Leak Confirms New Content
The map confirmed to be part of Season 2 is called “Hagental Airbase,” and should be the first map released. The trailer also features a new small helicopter and motorcycles, which should be part of the vehicle rollout for Season 2.
When it comes to weapons, a datamine reveals that the GRT-CPS (MSBS Grot), VCR-2 (VHS2) and M121 A2 (MG5) have been added to the game (via the 1BF Telegram group and ZamnBoii).
There’s also a new gadget spotted in the game’s files as well, and it’s the HTI-MK2, which is a hardware suppression system). It’s described as, “Once deployed, the fire suppression system identifies all nearby electronic and explosive devices, as well as the targets it is targeting. Targeting and activating the device allows intercepting missiles and destroying electronic equipment; up to three devices can be activated.”
In a report we posted in November, it mentioned some of the items and weapons expected to be available in Season 2 and Season 3 as part of a datamine.
Chances are, we’ll see this trailer be released officially within the week. Once we know more info about Season 2, we’ll let our readers know.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake has finally arrived on the Xbox Series X|S, as well as Nintendo’s latest console, the Nintendo Switch 2. A real treat to fans all over the world, and although the game is nearing its sixth year (five for the Intergrade version) of being on the market, having replayed the game recently on the Switch 2, it is clear that the wait was absolutely worth it; the experience is seamless, visually stunning, and a perfect entry point for those who missed it the first time around.
Square Enix’s work porting the game to new platforms has resulted in versions that feel entirely uncompromised, bringing the cinematic grandeur of Midgar to new screens without sacrificing the fluid combat that defined the original release. And yes, I say this fully aware that the Nintendo Switch 2 version is capped at 30 FPS.
Dragon Quest fans were really excited to see the release of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake last year, which was very well received and left people wanting even more.
Even With Compromises, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Shines Incredibly on the Nintendo Switch 2
I was fortunate enough to review the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake back in 2020, so I won’t spend too much time rehashing my thoughts on it. But I will say, those who are playing this remake for the very first time, go in with an open mind, as the game isn’t entirely a 1:1 remake. There are some new story elements, some to add to and expand some existing lore, like giving us more story content around the original members of Avalanche. There are also some very drastic changes introduced to the story with this remake, though I won’t spoil any of it despite how long the game has already been out.
The bottom line is, this is an excellent remake, even if it doesn’t maintain the turn-based combat of the original PS1 release. Again, if you want something that’s a bit more fleshed out, I suggest reading my initial review, which I still stand by with the score I gave it (9.5/10).
What I did want to focus on is the port itself. For those who don’t know, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is the next-gen version of the game, ported from PS4 to PS5 back in 2021 with improved visuals, including better textures, lighting, and particle effects, as well as the introduction of a new chapter featuring a party member who would join the cast in the sequel.
But I think the biggest change for many was the introduction of a 60 FPS mode, which was double the performance of the last-gen (PS4) version. Not only did you have a game that looked even more incredible, but you now had one that felt it, too. That’s not to say that the PS4 version didn’t feel good, because honestly, Square Enix made a fantastic 30 FPS experience there; it’s just the jump in fidelity felt like a massive leap at the time.
This brings us to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, which offers the graphical improvements from the original Intergrade release but at the cost of performance.
However, this isn’t the stuttery experience you might fear. Much like the original PS4 release, the 30 FPS target here is implemented to ensure near-perfect frame pacing, making the combat feel weighty and deliberate rather than sluggish and choppy. In fact, seeing the high-fidelity assets of the Intergrade version running this cleanly on a handheld is, in my opinion, a fair trade-off. It bridges the gap between generations, offering a mix of the PS5’s visual splendor and the PS4’s original performance profile, a combination that works surprisingly well in the palm of your hand.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to see 60 FPS support here, but I also know the importance of keeping expectations in check. The Switch 2 is an incredible piece of hardware, but it’s still quite limited compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It might be beefier in terms of specs over its predecessor, but it’s still built as a mobile device that uses a custom mobile System-on-Chip (SoC) from Nvidia. Dock mode won’t magically change that either. That, and this is a port of an existing game, rather than something being rebuilt from the ground up.
At that point, it’s about how studios work around those limitations to deliver a polished product, and I think Square Enix has walked the tightrope perfectly here, proving that a stable, high-fidelity 30 FPS is infinitely preferable to an unstable performance mode that sacrifices too much image quality just to get better, inconsistent frames.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on the Switch 2 does come with some sacrifices when going up against other versions, but you’d be hard-pressed to even care about them once you see it in motion, and just how well the 30 FPS performance was done here.
Note that the following videos are considered spoilers
Resolution targets 1080P, which, from a handheld perspective, is perfectly fine. The small-screen pixel density really helps maintain a sharp image, effectively hiding the aliasing that might be more noticeable on a larger TV. On the Switch 2’s display, the image looks incredibly crisp, to the point where you likely wouldn’t even notice the lower pixel count unless you were actively looking for it.
Dock mode is a bit of a different story, as details that would otherwise be hidden in handheld mode become more noticeable, with some blurryness and shimmering here and there. It still looks great, even on a full 4K display, but you’ll notice more of the graphical limitations in this mode, as well as some of the visual artifacts DLSS introduces, such as ghosting.
Hair, especially, regardless of which mode you play in, is going to have a lot of fizz and dithering going on. Considering how sharp and clear everything else looks, it is a bit distracting. Not that it’s detrimental to the experience, but it’s one of those flaws that is noticeable in nearly every scene. It looks much better in the cutscenes, but I do hope we see a patch improve it. Cloud is having it the worst because of his blonde hair.
Once nearly ending just as it was getting started, the Final Fantasy franchise is still going strong today with numerous mainline entries and spin-offs over the years.
I’m actually impressed by how good Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade looks on the Nintendo Switch 2, and how stable 30 FPS is. Sure, it took my eyes a bit to adjust, but once they did, it was hard to tell that this was a 30 FPS experience. Having also played this on the Steam Deck a while back, the Switch 2 version of the game is a big improvement, offering better resolution (1080P vs 720P), lighting, textures, and even performance. DLSS, of course, comes into play on the Switch 2 version, even if it seems pretty minimal in some anti-aliasing areas.
On the Go Perfection
Ultimately, while it does come with sacrifices, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is a technical triumph on the Nintendo Switch 2. With the limitations that the Switch 2 presents, it has brought into question just how well third-party support can be, and while we’ve had some pretty bad ports in the first year of the Switch 2, there has been some incredible ones, such as Cyberpunk 2077, that have really shown that if actual care is put in, even the weakest of hardware can be more than capable of providing an exceptional experience.
That’s what Square Enix has done here with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade for the Nintendo Switch 2, playing into its strength, and proving that the console is more than capable of handling heavyweight titles. It’s a fantastic port in nearly every respect, making it the best way to play when it comes to on-the-go gaming.
But even beyond that, for newcomers looking to finally experience this masterpiece for the first time, the Switch 2 version is an absolute joy that demands very few caveats. A perfect way to get into the franchise for Nintendo fans.
If this is the kind of commitment that Square Enix has for their future Switch 2 games support, I say there’s plenty for Switch 2 owners to be excited for, and I cannot wait to see how the publisher and studios manage to get Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, a bigger and more ambitious title than Remake, on the Switch 2. Things are already looking very good with Remake.
Pros
A fantastic story that expands on characters we had so little time with in the original PS1 release.
Visuals were always gorgeous, but to see a version of it running on the Switch 2 is very impressive, Really makes you go "wow, I can't believe this is running on a Nintendo console"
30 FPS is consistent, with near-perfect pacing. Once you start playing, you'd have a hard time believing this is 30 FPS and not 60 FPS, as it's that smooth.
Fun combat, even if it does shy away from the classic turn-based system.
Music - Both new and reimagined classics.
Verdict
10/10
Years later, Final Fantasy 7 Remake continues to hold up as one of the best Final Fantasy games. This time around, it invites even more players to experience it, and Nintendo fans who have long dreamt of experiencing this game on their platform can finally do so, knowing that Square Enix has given it their all, to ensure one beautifully optimized journey that feels right at home on the Switch 2.

Even if it’s not the newest game in the trilogy, that hasn’t stopped Square Enix from releasing a new title update for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on PS5 and PC.
To commemorate the game’s release on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, Square Enix has released Final Fantasy 7 Remake update 1.004 this January 21, and this adds a slew of features.
Have you ever wondered why modern movies often have worse special effects compared to older ones? When you compare today’s blockbusters to those from the early 2000s — with a few exceptions — the difference is clear.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Receives January 2026 Update on PS5 and PC
To celebrate the release of the Switch 2 and Xbox versions, Square Enix announced that the PS5 and PC versions would be getting the following new features this week:
Introduces Streamlined Progression, including the ability to keep HP and MP topped up, and always hit for 9,999 damage!
As far as we’re aware, there are no gameplay-related adjustments made, which isn’t surprising given the game’s current state and whatnot.
Released in 2021, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade introduced a new chapter that featured Yuffie. Starting tomorrow, Xbox and Switch 2 players will finally be able to experience the highly-regarded RPG remake.
Square Enix also confirmed the remake trilogy will be available on Switch 2, Xbox Series, PC, and, of course, the PS5. No word yet on when we’ll see the latest game in the trilogy be revealed, but once we know more, we’ll let our readers know.

Films like King Kong by Peter Jackson, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, or the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy are far superior in terms of visual effects.
According to Gore Verbinski, who directed the first Pirates of the Caribbean films and the 2002 remake of The Ring, Unreal Engine is to blame. While it’s primarily used in video games, several high-budget productions such as The Mandalorian and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania have adopted Unreal Engine for their visual effects.
Until recently, players could enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion Phantom Liberty through the R.
Unreal Engine Is Ruining CGI, Says Pirates of the Caribbean Director
In an interview with But Why Tho, Verbinski explained that the mistake lies in adopting a video game aesthetic — trying to replicate the visual results achieved in Unreal Engine within the film industry. However, the difference between older CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) and what we see now is clear.
Verbinski said, “I think the simplest answer is you’ve seen the Unreal gaming engine enter the visual effects landscape.”
The director noted that there used to be a clear divide between game engines and film production tools, but more studios are now turning to Unreal Engine for final visual effects. Games like Silent Hill 2 Remake and Alan Wake 2 show how impressive Unreal Engine 5 can look in gaming, yet its translation to film is far less convincing.
He explained, “So it used to be a divide, with Unreal Engine being very good at video games, but then people started thinking maybe movies can also use Unreal for finished visual effects. So you have this sort of gaming aesthetic entering the world of cinema. I think that Unreal Engine coming in and replacing Maya as a sort of fundamental is the greatest slip backwards.”
Verbinski admitted that Unreal Engine delivers high-quality visuals, but they often make creatures and environments look unrealistic.
“It works with Marvel movies where you kind of know you’re in a heightened, unrealistic reality. I think it doesn’t work from a strictly photo-real standpoint,” he added. “I just don’t think it takes light the same way; I don’t think it fundamentally reacts to subsurface, scattering, and how light hits skin and reflects in the same way. So that’s how you get this uncanny valley when you come to creature animation, a lot of in-betweening is done for speed instead of being done by hand.”
The director’s opinion will likely connect with many movie fans who feel that films from the 2000s often look better than many of today’s CGI-heavy productions. However, in the gaming world, Unreal Engine continues to do very well.

As part of the Season 1 extension, DICE released the Battlefield 6 version 1.1.3.5 patch, which included one of the most-requested features from the community, and it’s letting gamers choose the reticle color for their weapons.
Unfortunately, doing it isn’t as simple as choosing your scope and then choosing your reticle color. For some reason, DICE has it buried in one of the game’s settings. If you’ve fiddled around with Battlefield 6’s menus, you probably already know how convoluted it is.
While there are certain similarities when it comes to soldier uniforms and whatnot for most military shooter games, the latest mask for Battlefield 6 bears a resemblance a tad too much from its main rival, Call of Duty.
MP1st is here to help with not only pointing out where to change the reticle color, but also which color are the good ones.
Battlefield 6 Reticle Color Change in Menus and Which One to Choose
To see where you can change your reticle color in Battlefield 6, head on to:
Settings > HUD > Crosshair
Under the Crosshair section, players will be able to see the “Crosshair Color” option, and this will let you customize your color via the color palette.
As to which color to choose, it’s a matter of personal preference. Given I’m colorblind, I want something that doesn’t blend with the environment much, which is why I usually pick the brightest blue.
With the tragic death of Respawn Entertainment CEO and head of the Battlefield franchise Vince Zampella, in December 2025, Publisher Electronic Arts is shoring up Battlefield Studios with another games industry veteran from Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment.
I’d avoid yellow or brown hues, given that there are a lot of sparks, fire and explosions in the game, and I find that yellow-ish tinges blend a little too much with those. Brown is another color I think blends a tad too much with the background, but again, this is all a matter of personal preference.
Another thing to consider is changing the crosshair thickness, though this might also obstruct your view when aiming down sight (ADS). Thankfully, you can test this out in the Firing Range to see what suits you best. If you’re testing it there, don’t aim at the targets given they are colored white, which makes any color stand out. Check out the room’s walls and various items and go ADS on it to see how the color and thickness looks.
Which color do you prefer? Leave a comment and let us know.
While Battlefield 6 has established itself as quite possibly the most successful game in the franchise in terms of money earned, the sentiment around the shooter has been anything but rosy these days.
If you’re looking to check back and play a classic game in the Far Cry series, you might want to make it Far Cry 3. Ubisoft has issued game update 1.03 for Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, and this adds 60 frames-per-second for free.
Check out the trailer for this new addition to the classic first-person shooter, which might be good enough to warrant a replay for some.
The Division 3 was announced in September 2023, and here we are two years later, with not even a screenshot to pore over.
Far Cry 3 Classic Edition Receives Update 1.03 in January That Adds 60fps

Aside from Far Cry 3, another old Ubisoft title that received a signifcant update recently is the first The Division. In December of 2025, Ubisoft released a performance improvement patch that benefited PS5 owners.
With the tragic death of Respawn Entertainment CEO and head of the Battlefield franchise Vince Zampella, in December 2025, Publisher Electronic Arts is shoring up Battlefield Studios with another games industry veteran from Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment.
Until recently, players could enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion Phantom Liberty through the R.E.A.L. VR mod, which allowed the game to be played entirely in virtual reality.
Luke Ross, a well-known mod developer famous for bringing VR experiences to major titles like Elden Ring and Grand Theft Auto V, was behind this project. However, about a week ago, he chose to remove the mod, tired of the ongoing conflict with the Polish studio.
The development of The Witcher 4 is moving steadily after entering full production last year, but the launch is still far off: the game will not arrive in 2026 and is not expected before 2027.
Modder Pulls Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod Instead of Making It Free Under CD Projekt Pressure
“Many of you have noticed that two of my recent posts disappeared about a week ago,” Ross explained on his Patreon page. “I apologize that I could not comment personally about the fact, because there was an ongoing legal exchange.”
He added, “Now that the dust has settled, I’m even more sorry to announce that we are leaving behind an adventure that so many of you deeply loved and enjoyed. CD PROJEKT S.A. decided that they would follow in Take-Two Interactive Software’s steps and issued a DMCA notice against me for the removal of the Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod.”
The main issue is that to get his mods, players had to subscribe to his Patreon, meaning the content is paid — something that many studios, including CD Projekt, strongly oppose.
“In the end it amounted to the same iron-clad corpo logic: every little action that a company takes is in the name of money, but everything that modders do must be absolutely for free.oney, but everything that modders do must be absolutely for free,” he said.
