In a new announcement by the studio’s Twitter account, Naughty Dog admitted that the The Last of Us multiplayer project they’re working on needed more time before being unveiled, and what’s more, the next game the studio is working on has been confirmed to be a “new single-player experience.”

The Last of Us fans,

Our team will continue to work on the project, as well as our other games in development, including a brand new single-player experience; we look forward to sharing more soon.
We’re grateful to our fantastic community for your support – thank you for your passion for our games, it continues to drive us.

John Wick AAA Game in Development; John Wick 5 Confirmed

A John Wick AAA game has been confirmed to be in development alongside a fifth John Wick movie. The upcoming John Wick 5 movie is apparently still fairly early in development, which makes sense given the fact that the latest installment in the series, John Wick: Chapter 4, had just premiered a couple of months prior.

Confirmation of the John Wick game and movie was revealed in a Lionsgate Q4 2023 earnings call, with Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake discussing plans for more John Wick-related media.

We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience. What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including [John Wick 5] and including television series, The Continental, will be airing soon. And so, we’re building out the world and when that five movie comes, will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.

We don’t know anything else about this upcoming AAA title, but given John Wick’s success as a movie series, it’ll be interesting to see how the game will turn out. If you’re really itching for a John Wick game right now, there’s actually an action strategy game called John Wick Hex that’s available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with backwards compatibility for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Fairgames Closed Beta Was Sneakily Announced During Its Reveal, Here’s How You Can Register

Haven Studios debuted the trailer for its first-ever title, Fairgames, on the PlayStation Showcase after the studio was acquired by Sony. The trailer for Fairgames ended with a QR code that the audience could scan, which would lead them to sign up for a closed beta for the upcoming title.

It can be seen in the trailer that the characters were going to a website called “taketheir.money” and logged in using a code that looks much like a PlayStation code. The code (H28E-N788-D46S) should be entered on this website, exactly as shown, to get the chance to try Fairgames closed beta.

fairgames beta

Upon entering the code, the website will ask for your registration details. These include your first name, last name, email address, and two odd questions. The first question asks “Which billionaire needs a spanking?” while the second one asks “Why do you want in?”. It’s possible that not everyone gets into the closed beta, so make sure to answer those questions well.

Fairgames beta

Fairgames is described as a “fresh, modern take on the heist genre,” featuring a “thrilling competitive heist game where you join an underground movement to rob the ultra-rich and rebalance the scales,” and is set to launch on PS5 and PC at an unannounced date.

Final Fantasy 16 Pre-Order in Asia Gives Players a Chance to Meet Yoshi-P in Person

Final Fantasy 16 launches in less than a month, and PlayStation is running a promotion that will entice players to preorder the game before its release. The prize? A personal meet-and-greet with FF16’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P. The Final Fantasy 16 pre-order promotion will have winners meet Yoshida in Malaysia where the event will be held.

The promotion was announced via PlayStation Asia’s official Twitter account:

The promotion is only eligible for select countries: residents from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines are able to apply. To enter the contest, participants must pre-order a disc copy of Final Fantasy 16 from a list of supported retailers, which you can check here. They must then present their proof of purchase via Google Forms (link here) alongside various personal information. It’s also worth mentioning that participants must have a valid t gravel passport with at least a six-month validity from the travel dates (from June 30 to July 2). They will also need to answer a couple of questions before submitting the form.

Winners of the promotion will gain entry to the meet-and-greet event, and winners outside Malaysia will be provided with a paid round trip flight and accommodations at the Sunway Pyramid Hotel. Note that the majority of winners will be from Malaysia, with a total of 80 winners from the country, whereas only two or three winners will be selected from other eligible countries.

If you’re interested in entering the promotion, note that you’ll only have until June 18 at 11:59 PM GMT+8. There are still a couple of weeks before the cutoff period, so you won’t need to rush things just yet, but keep that date in mind if you can’t pre-order FF16 at the moment.

Final Fantasy 16 officially launches on June 22, with no Day 1 patch planned for the game, so in the event that you win, you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the game itself before meeting with Yoshida in person.

Minecraft Trails & Tales Update Releases June 7, Along With Full Bedrock Edition Release on Chromebook

Mojang Studios has now revealed that the Minecraft Trails & Tales update will be releasing on June 7, bringing exploration-based archaelogy, the Sniffer and Camel mobs, the Cherry Grove biome, Armor Trims, and more. Additionally, the full release of the Bedrock Edition of the game on Chromebooks will also take place on the same date.

Thanks to early access info provided by Mojang, check out what’s incoming to the Minecraft Trails and Tales Update:

The Trails & Tales update includes archeology centered around “suspicious” blocks found in desert temple rooms, ocean ruins, or the cold biomes’ new trail ruins. Hidden objects such as tools, bones, and pottery shards can be found in these blocks, and the pottery shards can be used to craft patterned pots that tell “a unique story.” The full feature list for the update list is as follows:

  • ARCHEOLOGY:

Archeology adds an increased history to worlds—allowing for more storytelling possibilities. Players will discover suspicious sand in new desert temple rooms and the newly introduced suspicious gravel in ocean ruins or trail ruins, a new structure found in cold biomes. Players can carefully uncover hidden tools, bones, sniffer eggs, and pottery sherds. Craft four of these sherds together to make a pot with patterns telling a unique story.

  • SNIFFER:

The winner of the 2022 Minecraft Live mob vote has been brought back from extinction! Players will find the sniffer eggs in archeology sites. A baby snifflet will hatch from these eggs and grow into the huge sniffer, one of the largest friendly mobs ever in Minecraft! The sniffer will “sniff” out ancient seeds you can grow into the new torchflower and pitcher plant.

  • CAMELS:

Another huge mob with a mind of its own, players can saddle it and raise it – but when a camel without a rider wants to sit, it sits. With its tall legs, the camel keeps players out of reach of zombies on the ground allowing you to sprint or dash to safety. Just be careful of skeletons’ ranged attacks! The camel can hold two riders, making it the perfect mob to go on an adventure with a friend.

  • CHERRY GROVES:

These beautiful new trees fill the horizon with a stunning shade of pink. These new trees can be crafted into a full pink wood-set, including the newly introduced hanging signs, and cherry tree saplings to grow more of the lovely pink trees. Players will also be delighted to find a unique petal falling particle effect only in the cherry groves, as well as a new pink petals ground cover decoration.

  • ARMOR TRIMS:

Using the new smithing templates found across biomes and structures, players can express themselves through their armor by combining different materials and smithing template patterns for a wide variety of customization options. In total, there are 16 armor trims, including new trims found in ancient cities and trail ruins, and numerous unique combinations.

  • BAMBOO WOOD, CHISELED BOOKSHELVES & MORE:

Bamboo can now be crafted into a full set of bamboo wood blocks—including signs and fences! Bamboo rafts function as boats but have a unique look. Players can now add Piglin heads to their worlds, dropped when a Piglin is killed by a charged creeper.

Chiseled bookshelves take Minecraft storytelling to the next level, allowing players to record the stories and lore of their world in their own custom bookshelves—alongside their most valuable enchanted books.

Hanging signs add new ways to decorate. That’s not all – signs can now have writing on both sides and be edited without destroying them (waxing the signs with honeycomb prevents them from being edited).

The following quality-of-life features have also been added:

  • Calibrated Sculk Sensors:

Opening up a plethora of possibilities for redstoners, this new variant of Sculk Sensors which allows you to filter vibrations based on their frequency level. They are not found naturally and can only be crafted.

  • Vibration Resonance:

Blocks of Amethyst have a new behavior when placed adjacent to Sculk Sensors. If that Sculk Sensor receives a vibration, the Block of Amethyst will re-emit its frequency as a separate vibration at its location.

Finally, after an early access release for select Chromebooks, a full release of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition will be heading to Chromebooks via the Google Play Store, featuring cross-device play, access to the Minecraft Marketplace, and the ability to play on Realms.

Once the full patch notes are out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Battlefield 2042 Season 5 New Dawn Launches June 7 – Here’s Everything New Coming This Season

As expected given the announcement, we now have our first look at Battlefield 2042 Season 5: New Dawn. Not only that, but thanks to an early invite by EA to check out the upcoming season, we can confirm that it’s launching this June 7! Not only that, but we have a breakdown of the Battlefield 2042 Season 5 new content.

Battlefield 2042 Season 5: New Dawn New Content Breakdown:

Release Date: June 7

Squad Management

First up is the highly anticipated Squad Management system. As outlined in the previous dev notes, players will soon be able to join specific squads and create their own while also passing up leadership to other players. DICE states that this new Squad Management system will feature a range of new features and interfaces. More details on this will be available closer to the season’s release date.

New Map – Reclaimed

“Where Battlefield of the past meets Battlefield 2042. Nearly three decades ago, the area found itself engulfed in global conflict, and the region was decimated in its wake. Now, five years on from the year 2042, war has returned to reclaim the land.”

Reclaimed is set in the wilderness of Czechia, built for combined arms warfare with six place bases. Those being:

  • A1 – Train Derailment – A crash site that features a derailed train, with the surroundings built for vehicle and medium-range infantry combat
  • B1 – Supply Drop – A landing zone with a circular layout that’s perfect for close-quarters combat. Destruction of neighboring trees will create new sight lines for intense firefights.
  • C1 – Turbine Hall – An abandoned turbine area that offers indoor space for mid to close-quarters combat. Open roofs also provide verticle crossfire.
  • C2 – Military Storage – A military warehouse that has a much tighter combat area than the other points.
  • D1 – Fortified Bunker – A bunker carved into a nearby mountainside that offers tight corridors.
  • E1 – Fuel Silos – The second vehicle layout for Reclaimed, it features winding roads in a circular layout that are perfect for tank fights, with four towers in the center of it all.

Weapons

  • XCE Bar – A high-precision bolt action rifle – Features expanded attachment capacity to accompany its stopping power
  • GEW-46 – Another assault rifle that offers high stability with short burst fire. Great for medium-range environments.
  • BFP.50 – Hand Cannon – Perfect for dishing heavy damage at close range.

Vault Weapons

The team has heard players wanting more parity across vault weapons and plans on bringing reworked versions throughout season 5 using attachments and skins from Battlefield 2042 for all vault weapons. Here are the ones coming at the start of season 5.

  • M16A3
  • ACW-R
  • A91
  • M416
  • MTAR-21
  • AEK-971

New Gadgets

  • Spring Grenade – A smaller grenade that bounced in the air before detonation.
  • AT (Anti-Tank) Grenade – Detonate on impact against vehicles.
  • Mini Grenades – Grenades that can be thrown faster and further than regular ones. The trade-off is power, but you also can carry more.

New Battle Pass

Season five brings two new factions, with the battle pass and store reflecting these factions. Tier 0 is Falck’s regenerator skin, with tier 100 being an Overthrower skin for Dozer. As always, the battle pass will feature similar offerings with XP boosters, coins, and such, though this season also introduces the new premium boosters. For those who were Year One pass holders, you’ll also be given an XP booster and an epic skin as a thank-you during the first two weeks of season 5.

Map Rework

The final reworked map is dropping later in Season 5, which is dubbed Hourglass 2.0. With this rework, Hourglass size has been reduced in order to keep the combat focused. New cover opportunities have been added along the primary routes, so expect cover-to-cover action. Remnants of combat have been scattered all over the map, as well as an increase in military presence, with new opportunities for cover through fortified positions.

The village is now a fortified military base, as well as the new starting location for Breakthrough.

Moving to the downtown area, the once pristine skyscrapers are now engulfed in flames. Bridges and arches have been overhauled and are now wartorn by all the destruction. The bridge is now collapsed with a large crater in the center, and a new underground section has been added for more combat opportunities.

The underpass is now littered with destroyed vehicles and plenty of additional coverage.

Mid Season Event and Quality of Life Improvements

Season 5 will feature a new mid-season event, though DICE plans on revealing it at a later date. However, they did reveal a few quality-of-life improvements dropping later in the season, which include updated vehicle loadout to improve their roles and characteristics, the introduction of new weapon stations, which include thermal tech, and heavy anti-air.

Sadly the only Portal news is the continuation of more weekly experiences.

There you have it; that’s everything we know coming in Battlefield 2042 Season 5 New Dawn. Stay tuned, though, as we’ll have more details about the season soon!

Phantom Blade Zero Game Length Is 30-40 Hours, Multiplayer Confirmed, Combat Scenes Captured In-Engine

One of the major surprises at Sony’s recent PlayStation Showcase was the reveal of S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero. While we did see what looked liked gameplay, the studio has now relayed a lot more info about it such as the Phantom Blade Zero game length, whether what we saw was in-game and more.

In a Q&A conducted on the game’s Discord, the studio answered a few important questions. For one, we now know that the Phantom Blade Zero game length will take gamers up to 30-40 hours to complete the main story. There’s also multiplayer confirmed as well.

(Note: For clarity, we have edited the Q&A for grammar and spelling).

Question 1: Is there an assigned game price?
Not yet, we’ll discuss this issue with our partners when most part of the game is done.

Question 2: Explain whether if the combat we saw was actual combat and how does the combat works on the different controllers (Phone, PC, Console)
Yes, all combat scenes are captured in-engine, they are real. But we set a more “cinematic” camera to capture the trailer footage, some angles are specially set.
The actual game will have a stable camera with larger view scope. The combat will look much clearer, but less impactful as it is in the trailer(or it’ll be too dizzying).
“Combo Chain” is a system we have been developed for 10 years, in mobile games for most of the time, but we found it work on all kinds of controllers just fine. Players will edit their skill orders in 2 chains, and simply press the 2 bottoms to release super complex and fast combos. This makes everyone’s gameplay look like a professional twitcher of DMC or Ninja Gaiden. But there are still depth in how to organize the skill order, and other timing related skills(parry, dodge, etc).

Question 3: How long is the game?
Main story alone is about 30~40h, and there are tons of side quests to play with.
Upon completing the story mode, players are presented with a plethora of endgame content that includes various multiplayer dungeons, boss rushes, rogue-like abysses, and more.

Question 4: How we define the Phantom Blade Zero? Will it be like Ninja Gaiden / DMC or like Sekiro?
Kind of mix, the adventure map has multiple paths forward, and combat is similar to Ninja Gaiden. You can understand it as a traditional hack & slash with semi-open world map instead of a linear map.

Question 5: About the release time? and how long has the game been in development?
Release time is a question we can’t answer yet.
Early concept of the game has been written & designed since 2017, but limited to 2~3 core members. The actual development starts in early 2022.

Question 6: Will it be time exclusive or release at the same time on other platforms?
For now we don’t have any exclusivity on any platform.

Question 7: Is the game open world?
Not that kind of vast open world you need a horse to ride from point A to point B. But it does have multiple paths and some open world elements.

Question 8: I was curious if you recommend playing the mobile games before playing the worldwide release or would that spoil the story?
The mobile game Phantom Blade: Executioners is the prequel of Phantom Blade Zero, playing it will give you some of the background of characters and the world. No spoiler for sure.
PBEX tells a story when Soul is relatively younger. He was fighting alongside other executioners of The Order (Organization in PBEX), such as Mu Xiaokui and Zuo Shang, and maybe others who are still his friends. But when it comes to PB Zero, you’ll see something really tragic happening. Soul becomes the traitor for some reason, heavily wounded, and all the former friends are now enemies.
I think it’s kind of like watching a prequel movie of John Wick, if there was one. In that case you may see a younger John Wick with some cool friends. And then you begin to watch the actual John Wick series, and see how he has to kill them all.

If the studio answers more questions about the game, we’ll be sure to report on it.

Phantom Blade Zero has no release date but we do know that it’s a PS5 console exclusive that’s also set for release on PC.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ESRB Rating and Summary Surfaces

The Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ESRB rating and summary has surfaced, and it’s what people might expect from DC’s most notorious group of villains.

The ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) rating for it is “M” for Mature, which is to be expected. Check out the summary below:

Rating Summary

This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of Task Force X (King Shark, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, Dead Shot) as they are forced to stop Brainiac and a corrupted Justice League. As players traverse a battle-ravaged city, they use pistols, machine guns, and melee attacks to fight enemies (e.g., alien creatures, mutated humans, superheroes). Battles are fast-paced, accompanied by realistic gunfire, large explosions, and blood-splatter effects; a handful of attacks can result in decapitation. Cutscenes depict additional instances of violence, as well as blood and gore: a character executed (off-screen); a character’s head remotely detonated (off-screen), resulting in blood-splatter effects; a character’s heart ripped out of his chest (off-screen) and thrown at another character; a character’s finger sliced off. Some environments depict large blood stains and/or corpses lying in pools of blood. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” are heard in the game.

Most of what’s mentioned there are what players are expecting already. I mean, curse words and violence? Yeah, that’s par for the course for the Suicide Squad be it in films, animated movies and the comics.

In case you didn’t know, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed to February 2, 2024 to make sure its quality is up to snuff.

Steam®/Microsoft Store Versions

■Regarding an issue with the Ver 1.08 patch
In the Steam®/Microsoft Store version, an issue preventing the game from launching when using a GPU not using NVIDIA DLSS was discovered.
We have completed our investigation into the cause and are currently preparing to release a patch to correct the problem.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Additional Features

  • Added the graphics settings AMD FSR 2, XeSS, and DLSS.
    • After the update, the graphics settings will first be set to AMD FSR 1.
