Trek to Yomi Review: Weighted Presentation (PS5)

Give everyone in the art and graphics departments a raise because that’s where Flying Wild Hog’s Trek to Yumi shines. Presented in cinematic black and white, and a fixed camera, the lighting and art direction make it stunning to look at every step of the way. Unfortunately, the beautifully rendered world is bogged down by poor, repetitive gameplay that makes this a trek not worth taking.

A Road Well-Traveled

The story is standard samurai fiction. Samurai Hiroki has sworn to protect his town and the love of his life, Aiko. After an invasion draws him from home, events occur that alter his path forever. I know I am being vague but the story does have some surprises that I’m glad I didn’t know beforehand. Despite these twists, the story isn’t anything more than serviceable but the voice acting, all in Japanese, is pretty well done.

Trek to Yomi 1

The Seven Samurai of Presentation

The true star of Trek to Yomi are the visuals and the presentation. Choosing to go black and white, like a classic Kurosawa film, was absolutely the right choice because the game is absolutely stunning. And by choosing a fixed camera for each section of the game, it allows the lighting and art direction to stand out in every frame. You’ll go from the town during the day, to at night to the village outskirts, forest and other places and through my entire playthrough I just kept remarking to myself how great it looks. It truly is the best part of the game.

Equally as good as the visuals is the sound design. The score is fantastic and the ambient sounds of the environments really bring the visuals to life.

The Ninja Mission of Gameplay

Unfortunately, while Trek to Yomi is always beautiful to look at, it’s rarely any fun to play. The combat, despite getting more combos as you progress, is shallow and repetitive and wildly unresponsive at times. Especially parries. The timing never felt right and always felt sluggish. It always feels as if there is massive input lag on everything. This is especially egregious during boss fights. The few projectiles you get don’t change it up enough because ammo is limited, even with thorough exploration.

We’ve seen this kind of melee combat done excellently in recent years in FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (which the game even gives a nod to in one of its trophies) and Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima. Yes, I am aware that those games have much higher budgets but the fact is, the combat here just isn’t good, regardless of comparisons or budget.

Trek to Yomi Review 3

A Tourist Trap

This wouldn’t be as much of an issue if combat didn’t make up about 75% or more of the gameplay. There are some puzzle elements that show up midway but they aren’t very deep and aren’t all that often. There’s no platforming to speak of so the vast majority of the game is running across the screen (or up and down depending on the camera angle), fighting mostly the same enemies with the same sluggish combat and some puzzles. After a few hours it just became unending and the only thing pulling me through was the visuals. There are collectables to find by going off the critical path but without a New Game+ option, I can’t see anyone but the most diehard trophy/achievement hunters going through it again to find them all.

Maybe in a future patch the controls will be improved to make them more responsive and fun, but as it stands, Trek to Yomi is a beautiful place to visit but not fun to play in.

Score: 6/10

Pros:

  • The presentation is spectacular across the board
  • Decent story
  • Music is great
  • Stylized graphics

Cons:

  • Combat is repetitive and unresponsive
  • Puzzles are too few and far between to break up the monotony of the combat

Destiny 2 Season 17 FAQ Released; Flinch Resistance, Airborne Effectiveness, & More Detailed

With the new season unveiling soon, Bungie has released the details on the Destiny 2 Season 17 FAQ, including some much needed answers on flinch resistance, airborne effectiveness, Exotic changes and more! Check out the rundown on the latest TWAB below.

Destiny 2 Season 17 FAQ:

Global

Flinch Resistance
  • How does flinch resistance work?
      • Flinch resistance directly scales the angle your aim moves by when you take damage, so if you have 60% flinch resistance and you would normally be flinched 10 degrees, you would now be flinched 4 degrees.
  • The flinch calculations show 1 unflinching Hand Cannon mod and 2 unflinching Pulse Rifle mods both total a 0.7x flinch multiplier. Was this a typo?
      • Yes, this was a typo. Sorry about that, we fixed it!
  • What is a scalar?
      • When we say “scalar” we mean a multiplier, e.g., a 0.65x scalar on flinch will multiply flinch by 0.65.
  • What are the scalars for some common flinch resistance sources?
      • No Distractions: 0.65x
      • Suros Synergy: 0.8x
      • 1x Unflinching Armor Mod: 0.75x
      • 2x Unflinching Armor Mod: 0.7x (i.e., this value is used instead of multiplying two unflinching mod values together)
      • Rally Barricade: 0.5x
      • 10 Resilience: 0.9x
      • 100 Stability on an Auto Rifle: 0.75x
      • 100 Stability on a Sniper Rifle: 0.9x
  • Given the importance of stability for flinch resistance, do you plan to adjust the stability stats for any weapons?
      • We may adjust stability on specific weapons if we see clear outliers in the future.
Airborne Effectiveness
  • Can an airborne effectiveness penalty take you below 0 in the stat?
      • No, airborne effectiveness stat cannot go below 0 or above 100 (the same is true of all weapon and character stats).
      • The tiers in the mega-TWAB were just general examples of performance within ranges. Every point in a weapon stat will count (although a single point won’t typically be perceptible).
      • In most cases there is a linear progression from 0 to 100 stat (an exception being accuracy penalty angle on Primary weapons, which is linear from 0 to 60 but is flat 0 from 60 to 100).
  • How does airborne effectiveness interact with accuracy perks?
      • Technically, accuracy perks (like Opening Shot) apply to your airborne accuracy cone as before, but because accuracy while airborne is generally better than it was before, you’ll feel the benefits a little less.
  • Can you clarify precision aim assist?
      • When grounded and aiming down sights, the full aim assist cone angle is used to determine whether a shot is a crit or a body shot.
      • When airborne (or hip-firing), by default you only get a crit if you’re aimed exactly at the head.
      • While airborne, the airborne effectiveness stat grants you some forgiveness for this, in the form of the precision aim cone.
      • We have a graphic to help illustrate all of this:
      • Key:
          • 1. Grounded, crit: your aim assist cone overlaps the head, but you’re not aimed right at it, you get a crit.
          • 2. Airborne, 0 stat, body shot: your aim assist cone overlaps the head, but the center of your reticle is not on the head, you get a body shot.
          • 3. Airborne, 60 stat, body shot: your aim assist cone overlaps the head, your precision aim cone does not overlap the head, you get a body shot.
          • 4. Airborne, 60 stat, crit: your aim assist cone overlaps the head, your precision aim cone overlaps the head, you get a crit.
          • Aim-Assist Cone (Blue Circle)
          • Center-Point (White Dot)
          • Precision-Aim Cone (Red circle)
  • Can you give more details on how aim assist is affected while airborne?
      • The term “aim assist” has two parts:
          • Auto-aim, AKA bullet bending/bullet magnetism angle: if a target falls inside this cone, your projectile will aim at the target (before the effects of the accuracy cone).
              • This applies equally to mouse and keyboard and controller.
          • Reticle friction and adhesion: friction slows down your aim when a target is within this cone, and adhesion can pull your aim to stay on the target if they move while you’re aiming.
              • This is only turned on for controller.
      • In the live game, both angles are halved while airborne.
      • In Season 17, these cones are still halved as before, and have an additional penalty angle that’s subtracted from this, depending on the airborne effectiveness stat. Here are some numbers:
          • 0 stat:
              • Auto-aim: angle penalty is roughly half of the cone angle.
              • Friction/adhesion: angle penalty is roughly a quarter of the cone angle. In internal playtests we found that controller players were more affected by this penalty and halved it.
          • 100 stat (both cones): angle penalty is 0. I.e., at 100 the auto-aim and friction cones for most weapons will be the same as they are in the live game.
Scavenger Perk Changes
  • Are all scavenger mods disabled in PvP or only Special weapon scavenger mods?
      • All are disabled.
  • With disabling ammo scavenger mods in PvP are you trying to bring back the double Primary meta?
      • No, we do want running double Primaries to be more viable, and want there to be fewer one-hit kills in PvP, but don’t want to eliminate them entirely.
      • You still spawn with two rounds of Special ammo (or equivalent), and still pick up ammo bricks, but you shouldn’t be able to use a Special weapon like a Primary.
      • One interesting side effect may be an indirect buff to the strategy of running double Primary to starve your opponents of Special ammo drops.
  • Are the Special ammo weapon effectiveness and ammo changes enough to reduce their dominance in PvP?
      • Short-range Primary weapons will have more of a role now—Sidearms and SMGs can better compete with Shotguns, for example.
      • We’ve pushed the current PvP ammo system as far as we can with this change, if this doesn’t move the needle, we’ll look at redesigning PvP ammo economy entirely (which would be a longer-term change).
  • With scavenger mods disabled in PvP, there’s little competition for leg mod slots, what’s the plan?
      • We’re keeping this in mind for future updates (but for now we recommend you run holster mods).
Other Changes
  • Will playlist weapons that have a foundry get both the foundry and playlist origin perks?
      • Yes, new drops of playlist weapons that are from a foundry will get the playlist and the foundry perks.
  • What do the changes to Snapshot Sights mean?
  • Snapshot Sights works by multiplying the aim down sights (ADS) animation duration by 0.5, which you could frame as making it twice as fast. On Special weapons, it will now scale this duration by 0.75, making it 50% faster instead.
  • Note that we framed this as being completely offset by the Sniper Rifle ADS duration changes, but this was incorrect—while Sniper Rifles will be snappier across the board, a Sniper Rifle with Snapshot Sights will be a little slower to aim down sights than before.

Weapon Archetypes

  • Does the lightweight Pulse Rifle damage buff apply to the BXR-55 Battler Pulse Rifle?
      • Yes, the lightweight Pulse Rifle buff applies to BXR-55 Battler, and any Exotic weapons that share that rate of fire.
  • Is Retraced Path getting the Trace Rifle buff?
      • Yes
  • Are slug Shotguns also getting the pellet Shotgun nerfs?
      • Slug Shotguns receive the damage falloff and aim assist falloff changes.
      • Slug Shotguns don’t have a spread angle but are treated like Special weapons and have an airborne accuracy penalty.
  • Are there any changes to aggressive (AKA spread) Fusion Rifles?
      • No, they’re not affected by any of the Fusion Rifle tuning.
  • Do all SMGs benefit from the damage falloff increase?
      • Yes
  • Do all SMGs with lower than 14 zoom now have 14?
      • No, only those listed in the TWAB have been raised to 14.
  • What happened to the full-auto setting?
      • We mentioned that this is coming in a Season following The Witch Queen launch. It won’t make it into Season 17 or 18 and is currently targeted for Season 19.
  • Are the numbers in the Fusion Rifle section correct? What does this mean for a charge-time Masterwork?
      • Yes, to clarify a bit, these are how much the damage falloff near distance is reduced compared to current at 0 and 100 range. I.e., yes, the damage falloff for 0 range was reduced more than that for 100 range.
      • Reduced damage falloff near distance.
          • -2m at 0 range (~2.7m when ADS with a 15-zoom stat).
          • -1.3m at 100 range (~2.275m when ADS with a 15-zoom stat).
      • This is the damage per burst of a charge-time Masterwork on each subfamily (compared to the base):
          • High Impact: 325 (330 base)
          • Precision: 275 (280 base)
          • Adaptive: 265 (270 base)
          • Rapid Fire: 240 (245 base)
  • Why are there no Sidearm changes?
      • Sidearms are a niche pick, but when used by players who favor them, they’re extremely strong. We want to see how the reduction in effective range of Shotguns and Fusion Rifles affects their strength before making any changes and may look at them in a future Season.
  • That Auto Rifle change is somewhat small, will it do anything?
      • Combined with the zoom scalar, this change is larger than it sounds, but we plan to look at Primary weapon balance some more in Season 18, Auto Rifles included.
  • Why did The Summoner only come back for two Seasons?
      • We were adding 1 new weapon, 1 reissued weapon, and removing 2 old weapons from the Trials loot pool each Season, but we felt like only one brand-new Trials weapon per Season wasn’t enough.
      • Now that we’re doing 2 new Trials weapons a Season, we’d rather the pool contain mostly the newer weapons.
  • Trace Rifles and Machine Guns are both getting buffed—does this suggest future anti-Champion mods?

Exotic Weapons

  • Is Vex Mythoclast a Fusion Rifle when it comes to airborne effectiveness, and what is its stat?
      • Vex Mythoclast’s airborne effectiveness stat is 19, and it’s treated as an Auto Rifle for translating the stability stat into flinch resistance and how its airborne effectiveness stat is translated.
  • So, about Wavesplitter…. hold on a sec, Wavesplitter’s functionality changed late in development, and the TWAB description was not entirely accurate.
      • Wavesplitter’s variable damage while firing was not removed. This weapon’s damage behaves identically to how it did before this release, i.e., it changes while firing.
      • Changes to Orb max-charge time are still accurate, and it does suppress while in the Orb-derived high-power state.
  • Is Riskrunner staying at 13 zoom? What about Osteo Striga?
      • Yes to Riskrunner. Osteo Striga has a unique setup for damage and aim assist falloff that is less affected by its zoom stat (but no, its zoom isn’t changing).
  • Is Lumina included in the damage buff reduction?
      • Yes, Lumina Noble Rounds and Boots of the Assembler seekers now also grant 15% damage in PvP (down from 20%) but the original value (35%) in PvE.
      • This damage buff is also used by Sun Warrior, which is part of why Loreley Splendor Helm is so strong, but wasn’t mentioned in the mega-TWAB because that issue is being addressed in another way.
  • Is Le Monarque affected by Necrotic Grip?
      • Le Monarque is not a Weapon of Sorrow and is not going to become one. (The only weapons that count as Weapons of Sorrow currently in the game are Thorn, and Osteo Striga.)
  • Does Lorentz Driver’s change also apply to Arbalest?
      • No, but we’ll be looking at both of these again in the future.
  • Are Devil’s Ruin and Fighting Lion being monitored for being unique for their own ammo economy while dancing the Primary/Special line?
      • We expect both of these to be stronger in the Season 17 weapons sandbox, but not so strong that they’ll dominate (we do stand ready to make adjustments if needed though). They’re both acquired tastes whose strengths can’t be exploited by every player.
  • How does the Eyes of Tomorrow buff work?
      • It’s a straight-up 1.3x damage scalar on the current damage values against bosses and Champions.
      • Note that the Adaptive Ordnance perk does not expire, so you can potentially get a bunch of Eyes of Tomorrow kills, pick up more Heavy ammo, and go into a boss fight with that damage buff.
      • Just to clarify how this works a little more, every Legendary weapon type and every Exotic weapon can have its own custom scalar against each tier of enemy (e.g., Minor, Major, Champion, Miniboss, Boss, Vehicle), which we touch occasionally if needed.
      • Damage values vs players are the base numbers in almost all cases. We typically scale the damage up or down in PvE as needed.

That’s it for the frequently asked questions. In case you missed it, Bungie also revealed some of the weapon loot changes coming in the next season, and youu can check it out here.

  • Fix for a bug where additional ammo was not granted despite having the ammo upgrade unlocked.
  • Community Feedback: Improved magnetism for faster resource orb collection, preventing the player from outrunning it.
  • Fix for the Swarm Launcher projectiles still being present when a player dies and respawns.
  • Fix for a rare bug where the player could be propelled into the air while wall-running.
  • Fix for a bug where changing settings in the Audio menu becomes blocked after the “restore to default” option has been used.

  • Fix for a misplaced kill trigger on the raft after the last “Egg Express” arena potentially killing the player.
  • Suicider Shogai no longer explode if they have been frozen.
  • Fix for a bug where too many Gassy Obariyons could appear in the first arena on “The Fast and the Furry” mission.

Ubisoft also unveiled details on Countdown and Expertise, two new features coming in Season 9:

Countdown

Countdown, the new co-op mode, unites eight Division Agents and challenges them to work together to restore stability to a power plant infested with enemies and other hazards. With just 15 minutes to prevent a lockdown, up to eight players will deploy in teams of four at separate locations, and will need to cooperate to accomplish a series of objectives, fight through heavy opposition, and extract before time runs out.

The game is setup for 8 players, but you can complete it with less and there is also matchmaking enabled.

  • They also heard the feedback about difficulty options and they are looking into that. (no promises as of now)
    • They are also looking for more feedback once TU15 launches, especially what the general players say about the game mode.

Expertise System

Also coming with Season 9 is Expertise, a new way to upgrade items. Players can build their Expertise by using any item in the game. As they use items, they’ll become more proficient with them. Once they’ve maxed out their Proficiency Rank with an item type, they’ll be able to upgrade its base stats. And as they gain Proficiency with more items, they’ll raise their Expertise Level, which in turn lets them raise their equipment to a higher Grade. (Expertise Level and Proficiency Rank are account-wide, so progress will carry over between each player’s Agents.)

  • The Expertise is a complex system but the basic idea was to add a feature for player to get more power.
  • This is also future prove, since the system expands each time new items are added to the game.
  • PTS was a great way to test the system and also get feedback about the costs, the UI and how it handles.
  • But while the system gives power, it comes also at a cost. You need to max out the items and you also have to pay with resources to unlock the different power buffs.
  • The costs of the upgrades have been lowered significantly during the PTS.
  • They primarily see it as passive feature, because it runs in the background and as long as you play with different items you will increase your proficiency.
  • But they know it is quite a journey to max out even one loadout, but they keep an eye on the stats and how it runs in the game and then they will see if the system needs further changes.

New Gear

Additionally, Season 9 will deliver new weapons and gear, including a Heartbreaker gear set, new Exotic and named items, and more.

Specialization Revamp

  • That was originally planned for TU15 and had the goal to change how you approach the specializations.
  • The goal with the Specialization Revamp is, that choices in the Specialization Tree are meaningful and have an impact on your playstyle.
  • Some choices also lock other trees and you have to select how you want to play and what your role is.
  • They worked hard on the feature, but it was just not ready for TU15 and that is why they pushed it back to a later update.
  • But as mentioned, TU15 is the first drop, more content will come down the road and with a smaller team they also have to be smart what they do, what they change and what they add.

The Division 2 Season 9 FAQ:

When will we have Crossplay

  • This is not something they are looking into at the moment.
  • Essentially, they have separate databases per platform that don’t communicate with each other and changing that at this point is not only very risky but also a huge undertaking that is not planned at the moment

Game Crashes

  • The PTS crashes have been fixed and addressed and they hope the deltas that happened during the PTS should be fixed.
  • As for the live game crashes, they plan to address that in the next update

Will there be another DLC

  • There are no plans to add further paid DLCs
  • They will continue with the season and Season Pass model as they have been since Warlords of New York.

Storage Increase

As stated multiple times, they have pushed the Stash and Inventory to the maximum they are comfortable with, with the last increase. And at the moment there are no further plans to increase the stash.

Will there be a focus on PVP

  • They know there is a passionate PVP community out there, but the current team they have is specialized on PVE content
  • At the moment there is no PVP 2.0 patch planned, but they are keeping an eye on the big issues and try to address them one step at a time.

New Skill / New Skill Variants

  • Season 9 will not add a new Skill Variants
  • There are already many Skill Variants in the game.
  • Maybe they will add more in the future, but at the moment they want to focus on the ones that are already in the game and make them better.

Will you add more Map Locations

  • Countdown is essentially a new map location
  • Map expansion like Warlords are not the plan at the moment

What happened to the Raid Exclusives

  • The Gear Sets of the raid will be added to the general loot pool with TU15
  • The Exotics stay exclusive to the Raids

Postmaster

  • The biggest problem is, how do you make it practical so that you don’t have to filter 100 items after a day of playing.
  • They are mostly looking at ideas and feedback at the moment.

More Legendary Missions

  • The Expertise and the Specialization Revamp will make the players more powerful
  • Raids and legendary missions are currently the most difficult content
  • But adding legendary difficulty to new content is not just flipping a switch but is handcrafted and balanced by the developers.
  • The real question is, how do you make the game challenging and interesting for the players and that needs to be answered smartly.

Consolidate DZ Darkzones

  • No there are no plans to merge the Dark Zones

Unlock the previews Season Missions on the Reward Track

  • Yes, that will stay the same, you will be able to unlock the special missions from the old seasons on the reward track.

As always, stay tuned here at MP1st for the complete patch notes once Season 9 and Title Update 15 rolls around!

Gotham Knights Development Update Stream Set for Tomorrow, Will Feature Nightwing & Red Hood

Curious to see how Gotham Knights is coming along? Then you’re in luck, as a Gotham Knights development update stream is coming tomorrow, and it will be presented by two of the Dark Knight’s most prominent sidekicks: the two former Robins, Nightwing and Red Hood.

Check out the announcement of the Gotham Knights update stream below:

Mission update from the Belfry: Nightwing and Red Hood. Powers Club. Tomorrow. 6 AM PT. #GothamKnights

For those in different time zones, here’s the appropriate time:

  • 9:00 AM ET
  • 9:00 PM HKT

The announcement comes with an image showing Nightwing’s signature baton and the Red Hood’s gun, which should clue in players that we’re in for one action-packed showcase.

As for what the showcase will be about it may have something to do with the report yesterday that shows that Gotham Knights will now include four-player co-op. You can check out our full piece on that here.  It’s also safe to say that new gameplay will be shown, and maybe – finally – a confirmation on whether the game will be arriving on last-gen consoles. In case you missed it, a recent Taiwan rating for the game famously skimped out on PS4 and Xbox One versions, and you can check it out for yourself here.

Gotham Knights is arriving on consoles and PC this October 25. Stay tuned here at MP1st for the complete details on the update stream tomorrow!

Apex Legends Saviors Patch Notes Released, Here’s All the Changes Coming May 10

Ahead of its release tomorrow, Respawn Entertainment has released the Apex Legends Saviors patch notes, detailing all of the big changes and fixes coming to the expansion tomorrow. Check out the full Apex Legends patch notes for tomorrow’s title update below.

Apex Legends Saviors Patch Notes:

NEW LEGEND: NEWCASTLE

HEROIC DEFENDER

For years, Newcastle defended the small town of Harris Valley, making it a safe haven for all who lived there. Now to fulfill that mission and continue defending his home, he’ll have to prove himself a hero among Legends. In the Apex Games, Newcastle can use his Knockdown Shield to protect his squadmate as he revives them, and even drag them out of harm’s way. He can charge into the fray with a Mobile Shield, blocking weapon damage and deflecting grenades, while his Ultimate erects a fortified Castle Wall.

PASSIVE: RETRIEVE THE WOUNDED

Drag allies as you revive and protect them with your Revive Shield.

TACTICAL: MOBILE SHIELD

Throw a controllable drone that creates a moving energy shield.

ULTIMATE: CASTLE WALL

Leap to an ally or target area and slam down, creating a fortified stronghold.

Watch Newcastle’s Vignette Trailer here.

MONSTROUS MAP UPDATE

With this being the first map update to Storm Point, our goal was to add new content and improve map features while not subtracting anything. We added a brand-new POI; a washed-up sea creature known as the Downed Beast—which is a unique combat experience for Apex Legends—an organic combat zone, and a refreshing change from man-made architecture. On top of that, we added a brand new PvE feature, IMC Armories, at four strategic locations around the map which can dynamically change the championship outcome. Be wary here, you will encounter waves of Spectres but if you survive you can earn sweet loot tailored to your loadout.

Check out all the details in our Storm Point Update Blog by Senior Level Designer, Keith Jensen.

MAP ROTATION

The map rotation for the season for Saviors will be Storm Point, Olympus, and World’s Edge. We’re also removing the longer 2-hour rotation block. We felt that could be too long considering it could span the whole play session for some people.

RANKED RELOADED

Apex Legends: Saviors’ upgraded Ranked system adds tier demotions, entry cost adjustments,, and a rework of Ranked Points to promote teamplay. The current Ranked goals revolve around Teamplay for Victory, and Accurate Skill & Better Competition. We are making a large number of changes that focus on these two core pillars, with the outcome that players will focus on playing as a team and playing for the win, and RP will be a more accurate representation of your overall game skill.

Read the full blog detailing all the changes coming to Ranked Mode this season here.

What happens if I buy my Battle Pass late in the season?

For example, if you’re on level 20 for the season when you buy the Battle Pass, you’ll unlock all rewards for every level up to 20, including three special Battle Pass character skins.

If you buy the Battle Pass Bundle, you’ll get the rewards for 25 levels in addition to the levels you’ve already reached. So, if you’re on level 20 for the season when you buy the Battle Pass Bundle, you’ll get all the rewards through level 45 including three special Battle Pass character skins.

Can I keep leveling my Battle Pass after the season ends?

No, Battle Pass prize tracks refresh with every season.

Do I keep my stuff after the season ends?

Yes! You keep every Battle Pass reward you’ve unlocked after the season is over.

What if I don’t buy the Battle Pass? Can I still earn rewards for free?

Yes. Even if you don’t purchase the Battle Pass, you can still earn the following items for free:

  • Apex Packs
  • Weapon Skins
  • Load Screens
  • Win Trackers for all Legends
  • Music Pack
  • Apex Coins
  • Season Badge

If I buy the Battle Pass, can I also get the free rewards?

Yes! Everyone can earn the free rewards during the season.

What Are Daily and Weekly Challenges?

Daily and Weekly challenges are in-game objectives that grant Battle Pass Stars when they are completed. Every ten Battle Pass Stars will progress you one level in the Battle Pass. Each day, you will receive five new Daily Challenges, and each week, you will receive a set of eleven new Weekly Challenges. Some challenges are specific to Battle Royale or Arenas, while other challenges can be completed in any mode!

For all the details on how challenges work, check out our blog here.

If I own the Battle Pass, can I buy levels past level 100 to get the bonus items?

No, you can only purchase levels up to level 100. You must earn the final 10 levels through playtime.

Duke Nukem Forever Early Build Leaks Online, Shows the Game’s Original Looks in 2001

Duke Nukem Forever, more than ten years after its initial release, is still considered by many to be one of the most disappointing releases in recent history. However, a new leak seems to infer that an early build of Duke Nukem Forever showed promise at one point, with the 2001 build of the game now leaked and making its way to various forums online.

The early build of Duke Nukem Forever still remains up on a thread on Reddit, where the poster lists various features about the vertical slice:

https://duke4.net/duke-nukem-forever-2001-content-4chan-leak/

  • Almost every chapter is present in some form. A huge chunk is playable, a huge chunk is block-outs with no enemies. All of the E3 content is there.
  • Not just the editor, we will be releasing the full source code too.
  • All weapons are functional with the exception of the chainsaw and the freezer.
  • Do you have any date on when you are gonna leak it then? June.
  • The editor works. We also have the engine and UnrealScript source code and have written instructions for compiling it.
  • Two builds, but only the content for one.
  • It is Unreal Engine 1, like the final game.
  • There is no complete game. It was never finished.
  • The E3 2001 iteration but not the E3 2001 build.
  • The shrink ray is in the game, it’s the first weapon in slot 4.
  • The theme is just the Megadeth version. It starts playing as soon as you boot the game.
  • Bombshell is not visually present in the game at this point, there is a log file showing that her model was deleted.
  • The strippers can be seen and interacted with when you first enter the club. By the point in the game that was recorded, most of them are dead.

Gameplay footage: https://streamable.com/5qttin

Lots of screenshots at the link. Sounds like we’ll be getting everything to download soon (in June, apparently).

It’s interesting to note that the duke4.net site is currently down or unreachable, but we do have some footage available thanks to the Streamable link. Judging by the gameplay footage, this early version of the game seems to be vastly different to what we actually got, and fans on the subreddit where this leaked are seemingly more receptive thanks to its feel being overall closer to the original Duke Nukem.

The leak does not end there, however, as the leaker promises to leak this playable build and everything else associated with it sometime in June. However, as is the case with everything unconfirmed, take this onee with a grain of salt until officially confirmed.

Stellaris Update 5.01 Patch Notes | Stellaris May 9 Patch Notes:

Hello Stellaris Community!

This morning we have pushed live a hotfix to address issues regarding secondary pop growth that users were experiencing after the latest update. This hotfix only addresses the secondary pop growth issue. There is another planned update in the next several weeks where we hope we will be able to address several other issues that have cropped up since the Nemesis release on Console Edition, but fixes for which were too involved to fit into this hotfix.

The new version number is 5.1.0.0 for Xbox and 05.01 for PlayStation. If your Console has not automatically updated to this version, shut down and unplug for at least 30 seconds, and then restart.

  • Fixed secondary pop species not growing unless under specific circumstances

That is all for the patch notes and message for today’s update. Stellaris is out now for the PC, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One platforms.

Xbox Live Down and Having Issues for Third Straight Day This May 8, Microsoft Investigating Again

Welp! It seems Xbox Live is having issues once again, and this time it’s for gamers in EU (for now, at least). Xbox Live down reports have surfaced once again, and thankfully, Microsoft is aware of what’s happening.

Xbox Live Down Status and Updates This May 8:

Here’s Microsoft’s latest announcement and acknowledgement about it via the official Xbox Support account:

Again, Microsoft has mentioned that this is happening to EU gamers only, but we wouldn’t be surprised if US and other countries/regions are affected as well, given the weekend’s Xbox Live issues we’ve been seeing. Hopefully, Microsoft sorts it out soon. Aside from Xbox Live, Call of Duty Warzone servers are experiencing outages as well (even on non-Xbox platforms), and we’re not sure if the two are connected.

Same as before, make sure to check back regularly on this post, as we’ll be updating it throughout the day with the official announcements and server status updates from Microsoft.

Call of Duty Warzone Down This May 8, Connectivity Issues Acknowledged by Activision (Update)

Following the massive Xbox Live server outages this weekend, it seems Call of Duty Warzone servers are experiencing issues once again, as COD Warzone down reports have surfaced just now, as players are reporting that they are having connectivity issues.

Call of Duty Warzone Down Status Updates This May 8:

Update: Activision’s online services page for Warzone mentions that everything is online.

Here are some of the reports posted now on the game’s subreddit:

Warzone refuses to connect

We also tried connecting to the game ourselves on PlayStation platforms, and find the servers being out as well, thus confirming that this is happening to all platforms.

Over on Activision’s server status page, it tags Warzone as having issues on all platforms, and states:

We’re currently experiencing connectivity issues. This incident is under investigation

Same as always, we’ll be keepin an eye on this and will update once more info is shared. If you can somehow connect (or having issues) with the servers, cite your platform and region, so we know whether this is affecting everyone in the world or just a specific region.

Report: Gotham Knights Upgrades to Feature 4-Player Co-Op According to PSN Store Listing

Back when it was revealed, Gotham Knights has been confirmed to feature two-player co-op back when it was revealed, it seems the game might be upgrading that to four-player online co-op!

While nothing has been announced by WB Games Montreal or Warner Bros. Interactive, the PlayStation Store listing of the game now lists it as “Supports up to 4 online players with PS Plus.” Check out a screenshot of it we took today:

Mind, there has been no official announcement, and this could be a store listing error. That said, given the game features four protagonists, I wouldn’t be surprised to see if the devs managed to upgrade it to feature four players online instead of just two. It makes sense from a gameplay and even story perspective.

If this is indeed the case, could this be the reason why the game has been listed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and not for last-gen (PS4, Xbox One) consoles vai the Taiwan ratings board? That, too, couldbe an error, as Warner Bros. has not made any announcements regarding the last-gen version’s cancellation.

Gotham Knights is scheduled to strike out this October 25, and you can check out the latest official screenshots and videos of it right here.

We’ve reached out to Warner Bros. Interactive regarding this listing, and will update the post if we hear back from them.

Thanks, Zhukov-74!

COD Warzone Down, Server Issues Reported for May 7 (Update)

Trying to log in to play some Call of Duty Warzone but noticing some issues? Well, you aren’t alone as many have reported that COD Warzone is down for today, May 7.

Update (May 8, 3:15 p.m. ET): Those seeing outages for Warzone this May 8, we can confirm it is happening, and you can keep track of the status update of it right here.

COD Warzone Down Reports for May 7:

As of right now, the COD Warzone servers appear to be down in multiple locations. Activision has officially acknowledged the Warzone downtime, though has yet to provide any sort of ETA as to when they will be resolved.

We’re currently experiencing connectivity issues. This incident is under investigation.

Now, do note that it doesn’t appear to be down for everyone as we were able to get on ourselves, though some of our other colleagues are experiencing issues with logging in. Hopefully this is resolved quickly, but for now, know that Activision and Raven Software are working on resolving it. If you’re on Xbox, Xbox Live has been experiencing issues since yesterday, so it’s not just Warzone.

Check back regularly (hit that refresh button from time to time) here as we will update this page once we know more info, and when it’s finally resolved.

This is just less than 24 hours since the network was down for more than half a day yesterday, which affected online gaming, cloud gaming and more!

Update: Microsoft states that they are still working on the issues, and players should see improvements with launching games by rebooting their Xbox consoles.

What’s weird here is, Xbox Live went down this May 7, and was fixed after an hour or two, but now (at 4 p.m. ET), the Xbox Live servers are down again!

As for the official Xbox Status page, it currently shows that “Store & subscriptions”, “Cloud gaming & remote play”, “Games and gaming” are having issues and are tagged as being “limited.”
