Fall Guys Update 1.23 May 13 Patch Notes:

Two New Rounds

  • The Slimescraper – To reach the summit, intrepid beans will have to outrun the slime and master multiple floors of mayhem in this spiritual successor to Slime Climb.

  • Improved latency when grabbing objects or mantling. Things should be much more responsive now
  • In-game visual indicator to show connection quality to help troubleshoot issues. Wondering if you disconnected? Wonder no more!

  • Snow will now display on Season 3 rounds for PC players!

  • Fixed solo victory animation displaying when winning a Squads Show for some players

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground Showcases Playable Factions in Three Trailers

Prepare to battle and choose which side you want to be on in the world of Warhammer, as Focus Home Interactive and Gasket Games have released new videos for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground — which showcases the playable factions of the game in three trailers!

Check out the first faction in Stormcast Eternals here!

If you want to go dark and evil, the Nighthaunt faction is here for you!

Finally, here’s the last faction in the Maggotkin!

Here’s the details on these three playable factions via press release!

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground, the action-packed, turn-based strategy game developed by Gasket Games and published by Focus Home Interactive based on Games Workshop’s iconic IP, has released three new trailers showcasing the game’s different playable factions. In this dark-fantasy universe where immortal knights ride heavenly stardrakes to eradicate Death across the realms, you’ll choose between the stalwart Stormcast Eternals, ghoulish Nighthaunt, and putrescent Maggotkin. Lead your highly customizable forces in combat, unlocking devastating new units, weapons and skills across three solo campaigns and multiplayer.

The Eternals, Storm Ground’s sturdiest warriors, are worthy of their name. Banding together in tight formations around their hero allows them to withstand tons of damage and shine in long battles.

Nighthaunts, on the other hand, are much more fragile, relying on debuffs to weaken their enemies and summoning units to overwhelm them.

Last, but not least, the Maggotkin compensate their generally sluggish movement with an unrivaled ability to control the battlefield, turning hex tiles into dangerous hazard zones that inflict debilitating effects on the toughest of enemies with ease.

Speaking of the Warhammer universe, check out the new gameplay trailer for the FPS game spin-off Necromunda: Hired Gun here.

EA: People Will Be “Really Blown Away” by Battlefield 2021 Reveal Trailer; Looks Great on Every Platform

While the Battlefield 2021 reveal is now set for sometime in June, EA seems very confident that it will deliver on the hype — at least according to an EA executive.

At EA’s quarterly financials report, EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen commented that he saw the Battlefield 2021 reveal trailer last week, and while he can’t talk about it just yet, he mentions that people will be “really blown away” by what they see.

I’d love to tell you what I said when I saw the trailer last week, but I would – I can’t because it would get censored, but it’s just to emphasize Andrew’s point, I think people are going to be really blown away. And I’ll tell you on gen-five, it is even more spectacular, but it will be great on either console, but it’s going to be very exciting, I think.

There’s no firm release date yet for the next Battlefield game’s reveal trailer, but EA has mentioned that it’s the “relaunch” of the franchise, and will be available on both last-gen, and current-gen platforms.

Scarlet Nexus Demo Arrives First on Xbox Series X, New Gameplay Video Released

Ready yourselves for an action RPG game experience like no other, as Bandai Namco Entertainment have announced that the Scarlet Nexus demo is coming and arrives first on Xbox Series X — with a new gameplay video released to help promote the upcoming game!

Courtesy of Game Informer, here’s the new gameplay footage that teases how the game will play!

As announced at the official Twitter page of the game, Xbox Series X|S players will get a first taste of Scarlet Nexus with the demo coming first to Microsoft’s next gen system!

Here’s the official story synopsis for Scarlet Nexus via the game’s official website.

In the far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changed the world as we knew it.

As humanity entered this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity.

Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our only chance to fight the onslaught from above.

Since then, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.

Featuring a dual story, begin your adventure with either Yuito Sumeragi, an energetic recruit from a prestigious political family or Kasane Randall, the mysterious scout whose power and skill has gained great notoriety among the OSF.

As their different experiences interweave with each other, it is only then that you will reveal the full story and unlock all the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in SCARLET NEXUS.

Last time we reported on Scarlet Nexus, the game revealed its release date to be June 21, and that’s more than a month away!

Scarlet Nexus will be released for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One,  and PC on June 24.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Joins Game Pass Tomorrow

As confirmed on the official Xbox Game Pass account, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup tomorrow.

Taking to Twitter today, the Xbox Game Pass official account tweeted out the following message:

“Translate for good news: VEHYM VYHDYCO Q | Q-2 RT NASYCDANAT EC YJYEMYPMA DUSUNNUF”

For those unaware by what language this is, this belongs to the Al Bhed, a tribe that was featured in both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. When ran through an Al Bhed translator, the message reads as:

“FINAL FANTASY X | X-2 HD REMASTERED IS AVAILABLE TOMORROW”

There you have it folks, Square Enix is dropping the HD Remaster collection tomorrow as part of the Xbox Game Pass service.

About the remasters –

FINAL FANTASY X tells the story of a star blitzball player, Tidus, who journeys with a young and beautiful summoner named Yuna on her quest to save the world of Spira from an endless cycle of destruction wrought by the colossal menace Sin.

FINAL FANTASY X-2 returns to the world of Spira two years after the beginning of the Eternal Calm. Having been shown a mysterious but familiar image in a sphere, Yuna becomes a Sphere Hunter and along with her companions Rikku and Paine, embarks on a quest around the world to find the answers to the mystery within.

Based on the international versions of the games that were previously only released in Japan and Europe, FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster brings these timeless classics forward to the current generation of fans, old and new alike.

Key Features:

  • Characters, monsters, and environments have been fine-tuned to HD detail, providing a richer, deeper FINAL FANTASY visual experience.
  • Other features in the PC version include remastered/rearranged BGM,
  • International Edition content,
  • Auto-save and 5 game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes.

Not a bad offering if we say so ourselves, one that we highly recommend any Final Fantasy fans to give a try if they haven’t already.

Apex Legends: Respawn Has Been Able to Grow “Every Metric,” Out to “Protect Players” Says EA

Given how much love Respawn Entertaainment has given to Apex Legends, it’s not that surprising that it’s a major success. Not only is it raking in the big bucks for EA, but it also has blasted through their data, too.

In EA’s latest earnings report, EA was asked about the success of Apex Legends, and the publisher answered that it has grown in “every metric” the company has.

Alexia Quadrani (JP Morgan) Hi, thank you. Can you elaborate on the success, the tremendous success you’ve seen in Apex Legends? I mean is it a core group of players playing the game more and more season after season? Or have you notably expanded the player bases well?

Andrew Wilson (EA CEO): I would say as we look at the data on Apex Legends, we have seen from season to season, what the Apex Legends team have been able to do is grow pretty much every meaningful metric around the business. The amount of players, the amount of time players spend, the amount of connections players have in the game, the amount of touch point the players have and of course revenue generation from that growing player base. I think as we project forward, what they have done from the very beginning is ensure that they always protect the gaming community, but they’re very close and listen to the gaming community offering what that community wants, the day to day retention is off the charts for free to play game and that’s why we are confident in projecting future growth around both the existing base and then of course Apex Mobile.

In the same report, EA mentioned that life-to-date, Apex Legends has earned over $1B in revenue foor the publisher.

Sony Has 25 First-Party PS5 Games in Development, 10 Are New IPs

Six months after it was released to the world despite setbacks in supply and the global pandemic, Sony has 25 first-party PS5 games in development — as 10 are new IPs and industry veterans and developers saying that there is a lot of potential to be mined from the next generation console.

Speaking to Wired, Ember Lab founder and Kena: Edge of Spirit developer Josh Grier spoke on how Sony asked them to make their game available to both PS4 and PS5 users, while also noting just how much potential the next generation system has.

“Our groundwork was on the PS4,” says Josh Grier. “But looking at game two, focusing on taking advantage of the SSD and building mechanics and tools around that, will be really fun. I know for sure we haven’t fully taken advantage of how actually fast it is—we were getting a lot of benefits of it being just out-of-the-box better. But I think you can push it even more.”

Promising that the PS5 would be a revolutionary device in itself that continues to evolve, PlayStation Chief Architect Mark Cerny also spoke about his conversations with developers and how he welcomes the feedback from them to help better improve the system.

“The conversations can be very contentious,” he says. “I actively seek out the people who will have strong opinions, who clearly lay out all the issues they’re having with the hardware, so that we can get busy thinking about how we can address those in the future.”

With more than a dozen first party titles in active development for the system, there’s going to be some pretty interesting games to look forward to that are exclusive to PlayStation in the future.

While there’s plenty of potential to look forward to with the PS5, system shortages will likely continue to next year.

New Battlefield Game Will Be a “Relaunch” of the Franchise, Will Have “Unbelievable Player Counts”

While Battlefield 5 might not have been the franchise’s high point, it looks like EA is looking at this year’s new Battlefield game as a relaunch of the franchise, and it also seems like one of the rumors that surfaced earlier this year is true as well.

During EA’s quarterly earnings report, EA CEO Andrew Wilson talked about how Battlefield 2021 is the “relaunch” of the franchise.”

We’re really excited about Battlefield, everything I’ve seen in the game is spectacular. And I think it’s going to be an amazing relaunch of that franchise this year and will lead us into an incredible live service for the future.

Wilson adds, that he has seen the new Battlefield game reveal trailer, and that it’s “incredible.” In addition to that, he mentions how the game will feature “unbelievable player counts” suggesting that the rumors of 128-player matches  are indeed in the cards– something the publisher alluded to earlier this year as well, when they mentioned the game would feature “more players than ever before.”

We’re going to talk about a lot around that in the months to come starting next month with our reveal trailer, which I have a chance of seeing the work in progress last week and it is incredible. What the team has been able to do in the context of next-generation consoles and epic scale battles, unbelievable player counts, destruction in terms of those which is really incredible, and it’s a very innovative and creative mode for the future of the franchise.

In the same report, EA confirmed that this year’s Battlefield game will appear on both last-gen and current-gen consoles.

Mystery Remedy AAA Title With Epic Games Enters Full Production

Fans wondering when the next project of Max Payne and Alan Wake makers will start now have a major update of sorts, as the mystery Remedy Entertainment AAA title with Epic Games is now officially underway as the project enters full production!

In their first quarter 2021 business review report, Remedy has stated that production on their AAA title is beginning soon — and has also given updates on their Crossfire games and Vanguard as well.

The Crossfire team is finalizing the single-player operations for Smilegate’s CrossfireX and Crossfire HD. With both of these games launching in 2021, this is a significant year for Crossfire. Remedy’s AAA game project with Epic Games is soon moving into full production, and the second, smaller-scale game continues in full production mode. With Vanguard, our free-to-play co-op game project, we have now defined many of the core elements of the game. Development progresses at a good pace, internal playtesting continues, and we are starting the next phase of closed external gameplay testing.

Speaking of Remedy Entertainment, one of the rumors we reported was that an Alan Wake sequel was in development. Whether that will be one of the projects they’ll reveal down the line is anyone’s guess, but fans of the game will surely embrace it once it’s confirmed.

EA: Apex Legends Microtransactions Passes Over $600M for the Year; Over $1B Life-to-Date

It’s no secret by now that Apex Legends has been a massive success to Respawn, and of course, publisher EA. Just how successful? It’s now reached the BILLION mark in terms of revenue.

In EA’s latest quarterly earnings report, EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen shared some of the cash figures the free-to-play shooter has generated for EA so far, and thee results are astounding!

We suggested it would deliver over $1 billion in life-to-date net bookings by the end of the quarter; it actually passed that milestone with half of the quarter to go. Apex Legends delivered over $600 million for the year, well above our original expectation of $300 million to $400 million. Importantly, Apex Legends steadily grew through the last year. While Apex surely benefited from a stay-at-home tailwind, the upwards trajectory is driven by the game teams and the content they are delivering. That is, this strength is structural. – Blake Jorgensen, EA Chief Financial Officer

I always knew Apex Legends drew in the cash, but at this rate? That is seriously amazing.

In other Apex Legends news, make sure to check out the patch released yesterday to see what fixes were made.

Fortnite Update 1.000.027 Released on PS5

Following yesterday’s Fortnite v16.40 patch, Epic Games has released the Fortnite update 1.000.027 May 12 path on the PS5. It seems this patch is only for the PS5 version and is to prevent crashing issues and then some.

Fortnite Update 1.000.027 May 12 Patch Notes:

Here’s what Epic Games had to say about today’s update:

We are deploying a maintenance patch on PlayStation 5 to address stability issues.

The patch will be available to download when starting your game or after your match.

Due to the maintenance patch currently being deployed on PlayStation 5, the Teen Titans Cup will be extended by one hour on the Middle East server.

That’s about it. We’re expecting another hotfix out (though it might be server-side) to make its way for more fixes, and if it’s released, we’ll let our readers know.

EA: Battlefield Will Lead Up to “Incredible Live Service for the Future”

While Battlefield 5 might be the first Battlefield game that touched on the “live service” model, it seems it won’t be the last, as EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed the franchise is continuing down that path.

In today’s quarterly earnings call, EA big boss Andrew Wilson muses that the franchise has an “incredible” live service for the future.

We’re really excited about Battlefield… it’s going to lead up to an incredible live service for the future

In the same call, Wilson wouldn’t confirm or deny that Battlefield is headed the annual release model stating that there is nothing to announce “right now.”

Nothing to announce right now around the annualization of the Battlefield franchise” or to the modes to be included in Battlefield 2021

Battlefield’s chief rival in the gaming space, Call of Duty, is on an annual release schedule.

In the same earnings call, EA confirmed that Battlefield 2021 will be released on last-gen and current-gen consoles.

Thanks, Westie!

Battlefield 2021 Confirmed for Last-Gen and Current-Gen Consoles

Contrary to rumors, it looks like Battlefield 2021 will be playable on both last-gen and current-gen consoles! That means, those on PS4 and Xbox One, you’ll be  able to partake in the destruction coming later this year!

This was confirmed by EA during the publisher’s quarterly earnings report. In it, an EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson confirmed that Battlefield 2021 (no official name yet) will be available for “current” and “next-gen,” since most are referring to the PS5 and Xbox Series X cycle as “next-gen.”

In the same call, EA confirmed that the game will feature “game-changing destruction.”

We’ll have more on Battlefield and EA’s earnings report within the day.

EA: New Battlefield Game Will Have “Game-Changing Destruction,” Will Be Showcased Throughout Summer

While we already know that EA will reveal the new Battlefield game (still untitled as of the moment) next month, it looks like we’re going to get more than just that and EA Play. Not only that, but prepare for what EA calls “game-changing destruction,” which should be familiar to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 4 players.

The game has everything that fans love about Battlefield; Epic Scale, all out warfare, unexpected moments, and game changing destruction. And it takes it all to the next level through  the power of next-gen consoles and PC. We’re excited to reveal the game to fans next month, and show a lot more about the game throughout the summer.

In EA’s quarterly earnings report, the publisher mentioned that fans can expect “game-changing destruction,” which adds fuel to the rumors that Battlefield 2021 will feature “levolution on steroids.”
As someone who loved the destruction in Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 4, and kind of was disappointed that Battlefield 1 and BF5 featured it less, I’m excited to see how DICE handles this “game-changing” destruction.

We’ll have more on EA’s earnings call later in the day and tomorrow,

Apex Legends Update 1.68 May 11 for Gameplay Fixes

While legends just got the big Apex Legends Legacy patch last week that atteacted so many players the game couldn’t even handle it, Respawn Entertainment has released the Apex Legends update 1.68 May 11 patch, and this brought in a host of new fixes.

Apex Legends Update 1.68 May 11 Patch Notes:

According to Respawn Entertainment, there are two patches on the way today! One is client-side (which is this patch), while another will be a playlist update.

Client-Side Patch Notes:

  • Fixed an error that was preventing players from logging in (“Array index 1 is out of range”).
  • Arena Matches will now end if there are no players left on the enemy team.
  • Arenas should now track “time survived” more consistently.
  • Arenas should no longer display the “Apex Legends” screen transition with incorrect textures sometimes.
  • Fixed low detail player models in the lobby. Goodbye derpy blob Legends, you will be missed.
  • Valkyrie’s passive no longer highlights players that are not alive and/or in spectator mode.
  • Bloodhound will no longer be able to see tracking markers for Valkyrie while she’s using her jet pack. This is a temporary measure done to improve stability — we’ll look to restore this in a future patch.
  • Addressed an error with the Stats page which was triggered by switching back and forth between Arenas stats and Battle Royale stats.
  • Valkyrie bundle promo image now properly directs players to the in-game store.
  • General stability improvements.

The server-side playlist update is out in “late afternoon” (PT) and will include the following:

Once we get wind of the next patch, we’ll let our readers know.
