Modern Warfare & Warzone Might Be Too Big for Base PS4 With 500GB HDDs Activision Warns

With today’s patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone ushering in Black Ops Cold War’s Season 2, it looks like the free-to-play battle royale might be eating up way too much of players’ harddrive. That hasn’t been lost on Activision, as the publisher has posted a warning to players who own a base PS4.

For reference, the base PS4 model only has a built-in 500Gb HDD, and if you’re planning on having any other games aside from Warzone (since it’s somehow tied to Modern Warfare’s overall game data in terms of disk space), you’re so out of luck.

Here’s Activision’s warning of sorts:

PlayStation 4 Players: File Size and Making Space

Those who own a standard PlayStation 4 with a default hard drive of 500 GB may need to make room if they have the full versions of Modern Warfare®/Warzone and Black Ops Cold War with all modes and packs installed.

Should you have both games installed and have kept up to date with updates, you may need to delete some unused Game Content to have a successful download and install of the Warzone patch tonight.

While players can remove data packs, there’s no denying how big Warzone has become. And if you factor in that it requires a new patch everytime a new season rolls around, well, don’t be surprised if you’ll need 1TB of space for the game soon.

This problem is made more apparent with the PS5 given Sony has not given gamers a way to expand their storage space just yet. I know I’ve encountered this problem, and had to delete a few games to make room for Warzone — which is a less than ideal situation for most of us.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Update 1.09 Feb. 25 Adds Language Support

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the developers behind the Yakuza game franchise for SEGA, has rolled out a new game update today. The Yakuza Like a Dragon update 1.09 Feb. 25 patch doesn’t seem to include any new free DLC like in previous patches, but it does add something else.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Update 1.09 Feb. 25 Patch Notes:

Here’s what’s new per the PS4 Update History:

General bug fixes.
Added Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean as selectable text languages.

That’s about it. We’re keeping an eye out on the community to see if any gameplay-related changes were include. Same as before, if you spot anything specific, let us know down in the comments below.

If you’ve yet to try out Yakuza Like a Dragon, you might want to amend that, as the game has been a surprise hit of 2020 here on MP1st! Here’s what we had to say about it while giving it a 9/10 in our review:  “At the end of the day, Like A Dragon is still very much a true Yakuza game, narrative driven with fun, addicting gameplay that is easy to pick-up by anyone. A fresh, bold new start for the franchise that still holds true to it’s roots. I for one am looking forward to see the future of the franchise. Hopefully it continues down the road of being a turned-based title, all while reinventing itself as it goes.”

NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered Update 1.03 Feb. 25 Features Wrap Editor & More

Criterion Games has released the Need for Speed (NFS) Hot Pursuit Remastered update 1.03 Feb. 25 patch, and this includes new features and even next-gen enhancements!

For those on PS5, Xbox Series X, downloading this patch will improve the resolution and performance to 4K/60fps, and even PS4 Pro and Xbox One X gamers will see an improved performance with 4K and uncapped 50+ frames per second! Check out the full patch notes below.

NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered Update 1.03 Feb. 25 Patch Notes:

This patch introduces a brand new feature that has not been in the original Need for Speed Hot Pursuit game: A Wrap Editor!

This allows you to customize your cars, apply your own style, and stand out of the crowd.

If you’ve played a recent Need for Speed title, you should be quickly familiar with the wrap editor. A few facts about it:

  • Player-made wraps are personal only and cannot be shared between players
  • Customized wraps can be seen in online races, including in cross-play
  • The decal limit for each wrap is 300 decals or 100 MB, whichever is reached first
  • Functionality to report inappropriate wraps has been implemented at the end screen of a multiplayer race.

In addition to that, most cars have also received a couple of pre-made wraps to add more variety. You can access both the wrap editor and the pre-made wraps from the showroom.

The team also worked on a few other things, so let’s jump into the more detailed update notes:

Wrap Editor

  • Added the Wrap Editor functionality
  • Added a decal editor
  • Enabled customised wraps to be seen in online races
  • Implemented a reporting functionality for wrap content after the end of an online race

Maximum setting

  • Implemented a new Maximum Setting mode for Gen 4+ and Gen 5 consoles. This allows the game to run in 4K60fps on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and uncapped to 4k50+ on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X

Bug fixes

Stability

  • Overall stability improvements and memory usage optimisation
  • Fixed an issue where the game could crash during the “Protect and Swerve” event, when entering the menu during a collision and restarting the game
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to the title crashing when too much autolog data was retrieved from the server, for example by having many friends that raced the same tracks as yourself.

Lobbies

  • When changing from Interceptor to another game mode, the lobby should no longer be locked to two players
  • Cars should no longer spawn on top of each other during multiplayer Most Wanted events

Visual

  • The correct PSN icon is now showing in the Friends menu
  • Fixed an issue where not all player positions were shown during a multiplayer Most Wanted event in a full lobby
  • Corrected the position of a floating patch of grass in front of the Seacrest Tiki Motel
  • Fixed a corrupted frame that would appear during the Sand Timer race event
  • VoIP settings are working more reliably, and the VoIP icons are displayed correctly
  • When unlocking a specific event, the correct cinematic should now be playing
  • Fixed a few instance to better align UI elements

Sony PlayStation

  • Joining a friend via “Join Session” should now be working as intended

Microsoft Xbox

  • Fixed an issue where the title could crash when switching controllers when the Xbox menu was open

Nintendo Switch

  • Fixed a rare occasion where players could get stuck in the transition from lobby screen to race

Other

  • Optimised autolog reporting functionality

That’s not a bad update! If there’s more incoming, we’ll let our readers know.

MODES

  • Rebirth Resurgence Extreme (Launch Week)
    • Up to 99 players will drop onto Rebirth Island for an incredibly frenetic fight for supremacy, as they look to eliminate every last member of enemy squads to prevent them from getting a second, third, or even forth chance at revenge. Just like Resurgence, squad members can spawn back in if their Rebirth Countdown hits zero and at least one of their allies is still alive, and specific Caches around the map will refresh their items frequently to ensure there is no shortage of firepower around the island.
  • Exfiltration (In Season)
    • In this mode, a portable radio crackles into life, coming online somewhere in Verdansk. The Operator who secures this radio and holds onto it for a sufficient period of time automatically wins the game for their squad. To ensure their exfil isn’t by the book, anyone holding the radio is marked on the Tac Map as if they were under a Most Wanted Contract (High Value Target) with all Operators also receiving intel on how much longer the current radio holder has until they win. Other than this new win condition, the same Battle Royale rules apply. Expect a circle collapse and a winner to be determined by last squad standing, should nobody receive an early exfil with the radio.

BATTLE PASS

  • 100 Tiers including two Weapons, a new Operator, and the first Reactive Weapon Blueprint
    • Tier 0 (Instant Unlock)

      • “Poison Dart” Legendary SMG Blueprint
    • And a lot more!
  • You can also check out our Season Two Battle Pass Trailer and the Battle Pass / Store Breakdown Blog

MAP – POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Shipwreck
    • The doomed cargo tanker known as the Vodianoy has run aground in the low estuary of swamp ground less than a klick west of the Zordaya Prison Complex.
  • Missile Silos
    • A team of Operators discovered Missile Silos hidden underneath the city’s three war monuments:
      • Jarvdinsk Spomenik above the Arklov Peak Military Base

Black Ops Cold War Update 1.13 Releases Ahead of Season 2 Launch (Update)

While earlier today we saw the release of Black Ops Cold War update 1.12, which prepped the game for Season 2 launch, it would seem that a very small update has now been issued ahead of tonight’s launch. Clocking in at just 320mb, Black Ops Cold War update 1.13 has began rolling out.

Black Ops Cold War Update 1.13 Patch Notes:

Update #2:

Treyarch has revealed the official patch notes, and yes, it’s the frame rate fix, though it seems it’s only out on PlayStation platforms for now.

  • Update is to fix FPS issue that was introduced in the previous update.

After some testing ourselves, it would appear that the PS5 performance may be back to par with ray-tracing on. We didn’t notice any major dipping like before with update 1.12. We will continue to monitor our performance as with community reactions, but so far so good!

Original Story:

As of writing there are no official patch notes available for this update, however, Treyarch did confirm earlier today that a new update would be going live to address the Black Ops Cold War frame rate issues that surfaced from the 1.12 update.

We will be sure to test out the game and report our discovery, though in the meantime, we are stuck waiting for Treyarch to release some official patch notes. If you spot any improvements in your frame rate, please do let us know in the comments below!

And in case you haven’t already, be sure to read the official Season 2 Black Ops Cold War patch notes! It’s a lengthy one, though the highlight of it some of the map changes along with the release of a new zombie mode, Outbreak! Read the full details here.

Halo TV Series Shifts to Paramount+

Originally in development at Showtime, the Halo TV series has jumped ship, and is now exclusive to Paramount+! This announcement was made today during the ViacomCBS streaming event.

Being developed in partnership with Halo game developer 343 Industries and Amblin Televsion, the series is currently in production in Budapest and is targeted to premiere on the Paramount’s streaming platform in Q1 of 2022.

Per the report from Deadline, it mentions how the film had 55% to 60% of its first season completed when the COVID-19 pandemic struck down production last year. Interestingly enough, it mentions how the Halo TV series has been “floated for months” as a possible Paramount+ show in conversations held between ViacomCBS president and CEO Bob Bakish and David Nevins, Chief Creative Officer of CBS & Chariman and CEO of Showtime Networks.

The TV adaptation of the hit video game franchise will see Pablo Schreiber (13 Hours, Den of Thieves) star in “dramatizing an epic 26th century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. The show will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.”

As for the Halo the game, there is still no firm release date for Halo Infinite, though we know there will be a never-before-seen weapon introduced in the game according to the devs.

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Zombies Meta Update Breakdown and Info

We are just hours aware from the launch of Season 2 in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, and to help get you going with some pre-knowledge information, here’s a helpful  Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Zombies meta update breakdown!

With the launch of Season 2 for Black Ops Cold War (full patch notes here), Treyarch is introducing two new higher tier crystal, the Refined and Flawless Aetherium Crystals in the Zombie mode. These new resources can be used to further enhance Weapon Classes, Field Upgrades, Perks, and Weapon Mods, which now have Tier IV and V upgrades.

How Do You Earn Refined and Flawless Aetherium Crystals?

The method of earning Refined and Flawless Aetherium Crystals is similar to the current method to earning  Raw Aetherium Crystals. The difference being that they upped the required amount of Zombies round needed, and in Outbreak are rewarded for completing a higher number of objectives. As to exactly what that number is, we should find out later tonight when the the changes are live.

Continuing on, down below you’ll find all the newly added skill options along with a detailed description.

Weapon Classes

[unitegallery cold_war_season_2_meta_zombies_weapon_skills]

Every single Weapon Class, including the Launcher and Special classes that receive their own Skill upgrades as of Season Two, can become more powerful with the help of the new Aetherium Crystals. Remember, these upgrades not only affect your starting weapon, but also any weapon picked up in-game, whether it’s a Wall Buy, a Trials Reward, or out of the Mystery Box.

These are the simplest upgrades out of the four main Skill categories, as they all mostly boost damage output across all weapon types.

All but one weapon category’s Tier IV upgrade is like its Tier I upgrade, and its Tier V upgrade like its Tier II upgrade. For example, upon unlocking Tier IV for Assault Rifles, their longshot damage is increased from 10% to 25%. This impact on the meta is simple on the surface: whichever weapon class you gravitate toward, it will see a damage boost in some form with these new crystals.

The only exception is the Melee category. Its Tier IV upgrade is directly related to its Tier II one, but when imbued with Flawless Aetherium Crystals at Tier V, it allows agents to heal small amounts of damage with melee attacks. This can be potentially game-changing.

Imagine getting swiped by a zombie for a chunk of damage, only to swing back and regain some of that lost health immediately. In panic situations, this upgrade might just save your life, and outside of them, regaining a little bit of health every now and then certainly doesn’t hurt.

New Field Upgrades

[unitegallery bocw_zombies_meta_update_field_upgrades]

The all-new Frenzied Guard gets a major duration boost at Tier IV, but more importantly adds an additional slow effect to all normal enemies at Tier V. This allows tanks to make an impact far past their immediate area, letting squadmates outrun hordes more easily.

Frost Blast and Energy Mine get similar upgrades at Tier IV with one additional blast or mine. At Tier V, each branches off to get its own powerful upgrade.

For Frost Blast, this equates to a short-range Insta-Kill powerup, as frozen zombies will shatter immediately after any hit.

For the Energy Mine, it becomes a better tool against Special enemies with its three successive stuns, giving agents the opportunity to stop them from pulling off a powerful attack with a well-placed mine.

The Aether Shroud’s movement and additional charge benefits can translate to agents getting further away from tough situations more often. Or, for those who use this in more of a support role, these upgrades give agents more opportunities to run up to and revive faraway squadmates more frequently.

Healing Aura fans become even more powerful healers thanks to its Tier IV and V upgrades. At Tier IV, revived allies now keep all of their Perks on their decay meter. Meanwhile, those constant beams work overtime at Tier V, persisting at their initial locations and continuing to heal players for 10 seconds.

Finally, the Ring of Fire gets even deadlier with a small chance of insta-killing normal enemies through its burning effect, which can add additional support against unmanageable undead crowds. The Tier V upgrade meanwhile offers even more rewards for staying within the ring, but be sure to have an exit strategy when it finally runs dry.

New Perks Upgrades

[unitegallery bocw_zombies_meta_update_perks_upgrades]

Tombstone Soda gets two major fundamental changes across its additional Tiers, starting with getting agents back into the fight quicker than before. Not having Perks decay when downed is an absolute boon as well, making it just a matter of buying another Tombstone Soda instead of a few lost Perks whenever you’re down for the count.

Jugger-Nog’s new Tiers not only make agents better tanks at Tier IV with reduced armor damage, it also essentially gives them a second life at Tier V. Being brought down to 1 HP rather than 0 can be enough of a cushion to push out of a zombie horde, or serve as a turn of fortune after a devastating blow from an Elite enemy.

Speed Cola becomes a speedrunner’s dream at Tier IV by making barricade repairs and Mystery Box rolls faster, and gains some serious benefits at Tier V. Outrunning the horde but can’t reload or thin their numbers with hip-fire? Now you can thanks to this awesome upgrade.

Quick Revive gives agents the ability to quickly get out of a bad situation after reviving an ally at Tier IV, granting a 5-second speed boost to both players. As for Tier V, it instantly revives you if you can kill an enemy while downed. This, on top of Self-Revive Kits and Jugger-Nog, can give agents more chances at survival than ever before.

Stamin-Up adds another speedy benefit to Zombies at Tier IV: using equipment while sprinting, great for those looking to hit moving Tomahawk shots or toss Cymbal Monkeys while escaping big hordes. Tier V makes agents even quicker thanks to the removal of sprint slowdown, making them move at maximum speed whenever they decide to pick up the pace.

Elemental Pop gets a major buff to elemental damage at Tier IV, and receives a bit of an “Electric Cherry” twist at Tier V thanks to that new ability. Agents may want to wait until a magazine is fully expended to deal the most damage to nearby enemies while reloading… or find weapons with smaller magazine sizes to hit this damage maximum more often.

Deadshot Daquiri becomes more potent with two different damage buffs: a 10% critical damage increase at Tier IV, and a consecutive hit bonus at Tier V. The former upgrade is great all around, while the latter is most useful against Elite enemies that require multiple hits before they return to their grave.

New Weapon Mods Upgrades

[unitegallery bocw_zombies_meta_update_weapon_mods_upgrades]

The original four Weapon Mods all have their abilities affect Special enemies at Tier IV, and gain the ability to spread their effectiveness to other enemies in some form at Tier V.

Napalm Burst makes burned enemies spread their flames to five of their normal brethren, which is great for taking out a bunch of undead in a crowd.

Dead Wire’s Tier V upgrade turns zombies into superconductors, spreading that stun effect out even to Special enemies that may lurk within a mob of normal shamblers.

Cryofreeze becomes even more of a tool for getting out of difficult situations, as having that slow effect jump to five other enemies can help an agent easily escape a small mob.

Brain Rot’s big Tier V buff make it into a necromancer’s dream. With three turned enemies instead of one on your side, you’ll have more creatures to act as your frontline platoon against massive waves.

Then there is Shatter Blast. The Tier IV upgrade is a 100% increase in effective explosion range, which is phenomenal within packed rooms, and Tier V turns this Weapon Mod into an explosive barrage. If this triggers at the front of an approaching mob, it can potentially strip them of their Armor and knock them all down, making them far less of a threat compared to their normal charging nature.

Whew, there you have it all the new upgrades becoming available later today. What do you think, feeling like an expert yet? For Warzone fans, don’t forget, Season 2 for Warzone is hitting tomorrow.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2 Delayed Due to Cyber Attacks

It looks like one of the biggest fixes CD Projekt Red promised for Cyberpunk 2077 will have to be shelved for the meantime, as the Polish video game developer and publisher has announced via social media that they are delaying Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.2 due to the recent cyber attack that has hit the studio and saw their data held ransom.

Here’s the official tweet from CD Projekt Red themselves, apologizing to fans for the delay.

The entire message posted by the studio reads as follows:

While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this unfortunately will not happen — we’ll need some additional time.
Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get. With that in mind, we’re now aiming for release in the second half of March.
It’s not the news we enjoy sharing, but we want to make sure we launch this update properly. Stay tuned for more information as the time draws closer.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
If you want to know what the hackers took and did with the data from CD Projekt Red, read the story here.

Anthem Dies a Second Time as EA Officially Cancels Anthem Next

Just two weeks ago, word broke that EA execs were dropping by BioWare to officially give the verdict on whether BioWare will continue developing the Anthem reboot, or can it entirely. Well, as the headline states, the Anthem reboot (Anthem 2.0, Anthem Next or whatever you want to call it) is offiically dead.

In a new post on the BioWare Blog, BioWare Executive Producer (and the man in charge of Anthem’s rebirth) Christian Dailey penned a letter to fans. Check out the full letter below.

In the spirit of transparency and closure we wanted to share that we’ve made the difficult decision to stop our new development work on Anthem (aka Anthem NEXT). We will, however, continue to keep the Anthem live service running as it exists today.

Since Anthem’s launch, the team has been working hard to continually improve the game, releasing multiple updates that brought with them a variety of improvements and introduced new content to play. Towards the end of 2019 we expanded on that effort and started working on a more fundamental restructure of the game.

During the development we’ve provided updates revealing some of the team’s work through blog posts and conversations with you on social media and it’s been inspiring for us to see the positive reactions and feedback. I’ve been incredibly proud of the work the team has been doing, and excited to see and play each new build of the experience.

2020 was a year unlike any other however and while we continue to make progress against all our game projects at BioWare, working from home during the pandemic has had an impact on our productivity and not everything we had planned as a studio before COVID-19 can be accomplished without putting undue stress on our teams.

I know this will be disappointing to the community of Anthem players who have been excited to see the improvements we’ve been working on. It’s also disappointing for the team who were doing brilliant work. And for me personally, Anthem is what brought me to BioWare, and the last two years have been some of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my career.

Game development is hard. Decisions like these are not easy. Moving forward, we need to laser focus our efforts as a studio and strengthen the next Dragon Age, and Mass Effect titles while continuing to provide quality updates to Star Wars: The Old Republic.

To the Anthem community, thank you for your passion and creativity. Your feedback and suggestions most certainly help shape the team’s direction, and on a personal note, your kindness and encouragement were much needed last year.

Please stay safe and be kind to each other. Strong alone, stronger together.

Outriders Demo Length Is 3 Hours Long, Won’t Restrict Players to Just the Main Campaign

In case you didn’t know, People Can Fly’s upcoming looter shooter Outriders is getting a demo tomorrow. Nope, it’s not a beta, but an actual demo. It won’t just give players 1-2 mission and call it a day, either, as the Outriders demo length clocks in at about three hours worth of gameplay!

This was revealed by People Can Fly in a recent phone interview with games media which MP1st was invited to. According to People Can Fly, players will have three hours worth of gameplay from the demo, and it will feature the opening act of Outriders (the prologue).

In addition to that, the demo won’t restrict players to stick to the main campaign, and will let players tackle side missions, too. And yes, the side missions can be replayed multiple times.

The Outriders demo is out tomorrow, February 25, and you can check when it’s available where you are in this handy FAQ! MP1st will share our demo impressions soon, though we want to make sure we play it enough before we give our initial opinion on it.

Outriders is out on April 1 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Outriders to Run at 4K 60fps on Next-Gen Except for Series S, Last-Gen & Series S to Be at 30fps (Update)

People Can Fly has finally detailed the resolution and frames-per-second (fps) support for all platforms for Outriders.

In the newly released broadcast stream, People Can Fly highlighted just some of the differences between all the platforms, confirming their resolution and frame-rate for the shooter. A break down is shown below:

Outriders PlayStation consoles resolution and fps:

  • PS5: 4K 60fps
  • PS4 Pro: 4K 30fps
  • PS4 (Base): 1080P 30fps

Outriders Xbox consoles resolution and fps:

  • Xbox Series X: 4K 60fps
  • Xbox Series S 1080P 30fps
  • Xbox One X: 4K 30fps
  • Xbox One: 1080P 30fps

For those who may be worried about last-gen versions of the game, rest assured as the developers had those platforms (as with high spec PCs) in mind from day one. In a group interview that took place yesterday which MP1st was part of, Lead Game Designer Piotr Nowakowski responded to a question over how the team worked on creating a optimal experience for last-gen consoles.

“We never forgot about the PS4 or previous gen, because at some moment when we start the development those were our main platform”

Piotr explained stating that it was never the case that the team had the game made on higher specs such as next-gen consoles, only to later see how it performed on the weaker hardware. Guess we’ll see how they’ll perform shortly after the Outriders demo releases tomorrow!

As for the Xbox Series S console, seeing that it’s a next-gen console but running at the same resolution and frame-rate as some of the last gen ones, we did ask if the console would potentially see future support for 60fps, though sadly the studio was not able to comment at the time.

We followed up with the studio after the QA session and will update the post if we get a response.

It’s important to also note that while the Series S shares resolution and fps of the lower end consoles, this does not mean that it’s running on the same settings as those consoles. We won’t know for sure until tomorrow, but the game could very well be running with improved textures, shadows, etc. that are present on the Series X.

Update (2/25/21):

The official Outriders Twitter announced that Xbox Series S will run at 4K, 60fps! And that it was a mistake:

  • Boneclub
  • Bone Cudgel (Unique)
  • Twisting Vine Bow
  • Weeping Vine Bow (Unique)
  • Cog Crossbow
  • Pride of the Piglins (Unique)

New Armor

  • Sprout Armor
  • Living Vines Armor (Unique)
  • Piglin Armor
  • Golden Piglin Armor (Unique)

New Artifacts

  • Blast Fungus
  • Powershaker
  • Spinblade
  • Thundering Quiver

Balance Changes:

Arch Haven and Soggy Cave

  • The unlock locations of these secret missions now always appear on Pumpkin Pastures and Soggy Swamp

Apocalypse Plus

  • The previous twenty Apocalypse Plus levels have been compressed into ten levels
  • Characters that had reached +20 prior to this update will now have +10 unlocked. Their gear will remain unchanged
  • 15 additional Apocalypse Plus levels have been added, bringing the total up to 25
  • Each Apocalypse Plus level now increases gear power and mob stats more than previously
  • The difficulty curve has been adjusted behind the scenes such that Apocalypse Plus gives you a similar or slightly more difficult degree of challenge early on, but is significantly easier towards the end
  • Every third Apocalypse Plus level now requires completing one or multiple boss missions to finish. Sorry, that means you can’t get to the end by playing Arch Haven many times over!
  • There is no longer a small chance for mobs to respawn while playing on high Apocalypse Plus levels
  • Drastically lowered the frequency of tier 2 and 3 variants of mobs (such as armored Zombies and Illagers) on Apocalypse Plus difficulty. This makes the gameplay feel more varied and alternating in pace and level of challenge when fighting mobs

Mob Enchantments

  • Electrified interval from every 5s -> 4s
  • Electrified damage from 150 -> 90
  • This means that Electrified’s damage per second from mobs has gone from 30 to 22.5

Blacksmith

  • Each apocalypse plus threshold is now also a threshold for upgrading items at the Blacksmith

Enchantment Slots

  • Bosses in Apocalypse are now more likely to drop triple-enchanted items
  • Item drops now become guaranteed to have three enchantment slots partway through Apocalypse Plus

Artifact Cooldown Effects

  • Cooldown decrease from armor buffed from 30% to 40%
  • Cooldown decrease from a single enchantment slot buffed from ~30% to ~40%
  • Stacked cooldown decreases from multiple sources of different types will now have diminished benefits
    • Example: Using Evocation Robes and 3x maxed out Cooldown enchantments, the cooldown change would go from an 87% decrease to a 77% decrease
  • Overall, this is a buff to most cooldown combinations, and a slight nerf to cooldown builds that use a cooldown armor with two or more stacked Cooldown enchantment slots. We’re hoping it will free up some enchantment slots for use on other things, while simultaneously fixing a few issues with stacking cooldowns we had previously

Ravager

  • Charge attack damage 350 -> 175

Rampart Captain

  • Damage 440 -> 300

Wind Caller

  • Updraft damage 110 -> 80

Wolf

  • Health 100 -> 200
  • Damage 85 -> 100

Mace

  • Third attack from 225 area -> 250
  • Third attack damage from 90 -> 140

Katana

  • Attack speed increased by ~30%

Dagger

  • Range increased from 330 -> 350

Rapier

  • Damage increased from 11 -> 13 (and 60 -> 70 for last attack)

Soul Scythe

  • Damage 75 -> 80
  • Splash factor 0.75 -> 0.85

Hunting Bow

  • Increased quiver size by 50%
  • Decreased charged shot damage multiplier from 2.5 -> 2.0

Power Bow

  • Damage increased by 33%
  • Fixed an issue where charged attacks weren’t extra strong as described

Trickbow

  • Damage increased by 20%
  • Projectile speed increased by 20%

Windbow

  • Increased quiver size by 20%

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue when attempting to delete a character while on “Create New Character” would delete a random character (MCD-3468)
  • Fixed the threat slider moving back to the recommended threat level as soon as a new mission is started (MCD-4640)
  • Fixed the explosion effect appearing underground for the Mountaineer and Rampart Captain (MCD-5035)
  • Fixed Squall Golems and Ravagers not attacking summoned mobs (MCD-5051)
  • Fixed the mission image staying red after adjusting threat level from Apocalypse Plus (MCD-4818)
  • Fixed German subtitles in the outro of Desert Temple (MCD-4001)
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when opening a chest on Pumpkin Pastures during 4-player local co-op, as well as other interactable items
  • Fixed collisions on multiple walls and objects in several missions
  • Fixed the texture of the Redstone Monstrosity’s head in the Camp house
  • The loading screen now shows the proper chosen threat level for Apocalypse Plus
  • The mission select map screens and settings screens can now be fully navigated with keyboard on PC
  • Made several improvements and fixes to text-to-speech functionality in the menus
  • Local co-op players can no longer be accidentally added if the friend screen is open after the player dies
  • Fixed the Howling Peaks screen linking to the base game on the Nintendo eShop
  • The mouse indicator no longer stays on items in merchant screens after changing the input from mouse to controller on PC
  • Fixed a non-dismissible “controller disconnected” warning displayed after unsuspending the game from Sleep Mode and pairing a Pro Controller on Nintendo Switch
  • Effects and sounds are no longer played twice for weapons with Shockwave if playing as a client
  • Fixed issues with Xbox players being unable to rejoin session after losing network connection
  • Improved messaging when linking to a Microsoft Account on Nintendo Switch while logged into that account on another device. The message now clarifies that “You are signed in to this game on another device. To use this Microsoft Account, sign out on the other device first”
  • Goat and Arctic Fox pets now play the correct sound when equipped
  • Lift gates in Windswept Peaks now play sounds when opening and closing
  • Improved line spacing of text in several areas of the menus

Known Issues:

  • In rare cases, multiple Ancient Mobs may spawn at once
  • Completing missions in multiplayer as a client who does not have the level unlocked can fail to count towards Apocalypse Plus unlock progress
  • Rarely, rolling off the map in certain areas in Warped Forest may cause the player to respawn at the beginning of an Ancient Hunt
  • The objective marker can fail to guide players through the Nether Fortress mission
  • Environmental fires in Nether missions do not damage players or mobs
  • The Pain Cycle gilded enchantment description does not mention the health cost mechanic

Sadly the patch notes makes no mention of enhancements for the PlayStation version, though to be fair the PS5 is running the game via backwards compatibility. Meaning if PlayStation gamers want to get support for 120FPS, then they will need to wait for a native port. Still, a boost made to the PS4 Pro would still have some benefits on the PS5. Maybe we’ll see it down the road.
