Find Out How Many Squad Points it Takes To Unlock Everything in Call of Duty: Ghosts

Ever wonder exactly how many Squad Points it would take to unlock everything – all weapons, equipment, perks, and strike packages – in Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer?

Reddit user aWiseMoose has got it all figured out in a neatly presented spreadsheet.

If you don’t know, Squad Points are your currency in Ghosts’ multiplayer that are used to unlock anything and everything outside of your default class set up. Squad Points are easily earned by completing challenges and simply ranking up, but it can take a while to rack up enough to unlock absolutely everything Infinity Ward’s shooter has to offer.

To purchase every last item, including DLC weapons, you’d need exactly 2246 Squad Points, according to aWiseMoose’s math. What can you do with this information? We’re not really sure. It’s one of those, “now you know” things. Plus, this user put some work into his findings, so why not share it?

You can catch the screens below, or check out the original document right here.

Rumor – New Injustice Title Slated For 2015

An announcement during DC’s All Access Panel at Wondercon initially led viewers to believe that their upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight game was to be pushed back to 2015.

However, according to ComicBookMovie, it appears that the announcement was’t quite geared towards the new Batman title, but was regarding a new title in the DC fighter series, Injustice. ‘Prepare for the return of Injustice’ was missed by many during the end of the Arkham Knight trailer due to applause. By the looks of it, the intention of the statement was to announce a new Injustice sequel for 2015, two years after the launch of the first.

Aside from its release time frame, there’s no more information regarding a new Injustice title. We also do not know who will be developing it. Netherealm, the studio responsible for Injustice: Gods Among Us, may or may not be tacked on as the developers, since they have their hands tied with Mortal Kombat 10, currently in the works.

If Netherealm is developing the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, there is a high chance of it being released in April 2015, since the studio tends to release their games during that month.

Which characters would you like to see be added or return to the Injustice roster?

New The Division Screen Puts This Agent in a Tight Spot

It’s not much, nor does it show off any new locations, characters, or weapons, but a new screen for Massive Entertainment’s open-world MMO shooter, The Division, has been outed.

It’s definitely similar to some of the other screens we’ve seen before, but it’s also just as good looking. As if we didn’t already know, The Division is shaping up to be visually stunning game, built on the studio’s own Snowdrop Engine. Here’s the latest screen, via The Division’s official Twitter.

The Division

“Looks like this agent is in a tight spot… What would you do in a situation like this?”

If anything, it shows off some of the light destruction elements that director Ryan Barnard talked about earlier. “We’re a Clancy RPG, so tactical combat is important and at our core we’re a cover based combat game,” he said. “So covers will all be destructible either from a small bit to being completely destroyed.”

This agent seems to be learning that the hard way.

H1Z1 – Konami Code Unlocks Mysterious Image and New Video on Website

The guys over at SOE are getting sneakier with their H1Z1 updates, hiding things and leaving secrets on their official website.

Found while viewing the main page‘s source code, you can see they’ve inserted the infamous Konami Code in the lines of text. Inputting this code leads to a pixelated image called “Whowillsurvive”, which you can see below:

whowillsurvive

Users of Reddit were puzzled, and possibly still are, as the meaning behind the image is not yet clear. Though, with all the effort, a video was uncovered because of this image, though some still believe that there are more.

We suggest visiting the Redit page, as it has all sorts of information about this finding.

Wear Master Chief’s Mark V Helmet in Destiny

As if the developers at Bungie wouldn’t throw some sort of Halo reference into their upcoming shared-world shooter and new IP, Destiny.

Reddit user Fuzzle_hc made the interesting discovery while digging through some of the most recent Destiny footage to have surfaced for more hints and clues. Check out the screen below where we see a Warlock, one of three Guardian classes in Destiny, wearing what looks like the instantly recognizable Mark V Helmet, a staple signature of Master Chief’s Spartan Armor from the Halo series.

WWTo1kj

As we previously learned, Bungie hopes to offer a countless number of customization options for your Guardian in order to allow each and every player to create their own unique look. The variation in helmets alone was impressive enough, as Bungie technical Art Lead Scott Shepher pointed out in his GDC 2014 presentation.

Having brought the legendary Halo first-person shooter series to life on the Xbox, it would seem a natural fit to include some of that magic in one form or another in their upcoming project. In this case, a badass Mark V helmet would do just nicely.

Check out more of Fuzzle_hc’s findings in this Imgur gallery.

Think it’s the real deal, or just a really close look-a-like? Will we ever see a full set of Mark V Spartan armor when Destiny launches on current-gen and next-gen consoles September 9?

H-Hour – “Innovation We Have, And It’s Not More Epic Kill Streaks,” Says SOF Creative Director

With H-Hour: World’s Elite, SOF Studios aims clear of today’s modern military shooter, hoping to deliver a more traditional gameplay experience that brings back the intensity of classic shooters like SOCOM.

But in today’s gaming landscape, littered with over-the-top Hollywood action shooters, H-Hour’s philosophy can be a tough sell. As it so happens, selling is the exact situation the higher-ups at SOF currently find themselves in. Creative director David Sears documents the whole process in a recent blog update – an entertaining read.

“We have already been reaching out to publishers and private investors to convince them to let us showcase our work for them. And when we do get our foot in the door, we have to prove that there is interest in the game, that the budget is valid, and that not only are we bringing back a classic gameplay style but innovating as well,” Sears writes.

‘Innovation’ sure is a word devs and publishers like to throw around these days, but in H-Hour’s case, it doesn’t mean more explosions.

“Innovation. This happens with design such as the Analytics SergeantTM, extensive clan/community tools, and ludicrously customizable gameplay options,” Sears explains. “Innovation we have, and it’s not more epic kill streaks. Our innovations support a classic gameplay style that is grossly under represented these days. Balancing these two aspects of the game design and convincing publishers how sexy they are together is going to be a big part of our pitch.”

SOF Studios hopes to move things forward in the coming months and, as we learned earlier, move production to Epic’s Unreal Engine 4.

Speaking of things we’ve recently learned, MP1st’s James Lara has finally got the whole shoe tying thing nailed down, but also figured out that H-Hour is aiming for 8 vs. 8 matches.

Keep your sights on MP1st for more on H-Hour: World’s Elite.

Buy Sticker Packs in PvZ: Garden Warfare With Real Life Money Next Week

It looks like PopCap HD will soon be offering Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare players the option to purchase in-game Sticker Packs with real life money.

How soon, you ask? In-game coins will be available for purchase in the Sticker Shop sometime next week, according to Brian Lindley, Producer of Garden Warfare, in a recent blog write-up.

Starting next week, players will be given the option to purchase coins from the Sticker Shop, which allows players the ability to access new packs and character content more quickly – all the same content that can be earned through regular gameplay,” he explained. “Now you have the choice to play your way; you can play to get new packs and content via earned coins in the game, or you can purchase coins to get more of the packs and content you want right away.”

Before anyone screams “microtransactions!” in horror, it doesn’t look like the option will really offer any type of in-game advantage and won’t turn Garden Warfare into a pay-to-win scheme. There are still character variants that you will need to work for, such as the Camo Cactus, or any level 10 variant of a character.

Also, the addition of microtransactions shouldn’t come as a big surprise, as the game does offer free DLC. Support for in-game purchases was also a point of discussion earlier.

Recently, Garden Warfare received its latest free DLC, Zomboss Down. You can catch my review here.

Bungie Has ‘Ways For You to Relive Your Finest Moments’ in Destiny PvP

Skillful players will have ways to display their FPS prowess to others in Destiny‘s player vs. player multiplayer combat, but ‘only if you earn it,’ says Bungie.

“Will other guardians recognize my skill in competitive PvP?” was one of the many questions asked in Bungie’s latest weekly update.

“Only if you earn it, Guardian,” answered Bungie community manager David Dague, aka “DeeJ”. “No one will be spoon-fed their glory in the competitive activities in Destiny. You’ll need to seize it [with] your gauntleted fists.”

“If you’re brave, we’ll have ways for you to relive your finest moments,” he continued. “If you’re victorious, we’ll enable you to strut your stuff. You’ll even be able to carry those war trophies in your back pocket, if you are so equipped.”

As usual, DeeJ’s cryptic words merely hint at what’s in store for those looking show off their skills. Does “ways for you to relive your finest moments” indicate ways to capture moments à la Halo’s theater function? Perhaps you’ll be able to show off your finest recorded gameplay moments from the phone “in your back pocket, if you are so equipped” with Bungie’s companion app? We can’t really tell, but it looks like there’ll be something to look forward to for the veteran Destiny player.

Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have built-in functions to record gameplay, but even they have their limitations and may not integrate as smoothly with Destiny’s mobile app. In addition, neither the Xbox 360 nor PlayStation 3 are as well-equipped for recording.

Either way, we’ll probably learn more shortly as tons of Destiny news is destined to arrive this Monday.

Ubisoft Details Everything You Need to Know About Watch Dogs Multiplayer In New Guide

Earlier this week, Watch Dogs developer Ubisoft gave fans a more generous viewing of the game’s unique online experience. We also gathered a handful of new details yesterday that unraveled some of the mysteries surrounding player invasion and the different ways to play multiplayer.

Today, Ubisoft spills everything you need to know about Watch Dogs’ online experience in a multiplayer guide written by communications manager, Gary Steinman, on the Ubiblog.

He grabbed a few quotes from Watch Dogs lead gameplay designer Danny Belanger who says, “We don’t talk about it in terms of single-player and multiplayer. It’s all online. It’s seamless. You continue your game. That aspect, for me, is crucial because otherwise it’s a break in the experience. It all feels like one experience.”

In addition to free-roam, there are four different online modes players can participate in; Intrusion, Decryption, Tailing, and Racing. Here’s the description of each, according to the Ubiblog:

Intrusion

“Belanger describes this as a ‘techno high-and-seek where you need to steal data from your opponent and get away. He can actually stop you if he finds you with the profiler.'”

Decryption

“Those who want a highly competitive team-based throwdown will find it with this four-against-four PvP mode. It’s fast, it’s intense, and it’s fully integrated into the open-world Chicago.”

Tailing

“If you enter someone’s game, you can follow and observe him. The goal is to gain valuable information before escaping. As Belanger explains, both the tailing and intrusion gameplay are built to ‘create a neutral-positive dynamic between two players that’s in the universe of Watch Dogs. If someone comes into your game just to kill you, it’s not fun.'”

Racing

“As straightforward as it sounds. Players can use different cars and race on different tracks, all set within the game’s world.”

Steinman and Belanger assures readers that players won’t be bothered by multiplayer during story missions. “If you’re in a narrative experience, that’s your narrative experience you’re living in,” Belanger says. Therefore, the game will automatically turn multiplayer options off during those periods. “We try to make sure it’s when you’re available and during your free-roaming and you’re not doing something else that could be disrupted. That’s when we turn it on and allow players to come in and invade you.”

As we learned yesterday, player invasion and other multiplayer options can be turned off indefinitely if players don’t wish to be bothered by it.

Belanger also touched a little more upon Watch Dogs’ Notoriety system. “It’s your fame,” he explains. “It’s your rank as a hacker. If you are hacked you’ll lose a bit of notoriety.” He adds that there are specific skills players can acquire, or lose, in their Notoriety skill tree as they play, all which should be easily achievable. “We didn’t want it to be frustrating or a punishment,” he says. “The goal was just to create a cool dynamic with something at risk, but not something that will make you upset and angry.”

But there is some depth there that players can choose to explore. “The more you participate, the further you go – and then Notoriety becomes a leaderboard,” Belanger added. “You can remove some points from people and that will affect the leaderboard. People will be competing to be the best.”

As was demonstrated in the Watch Dogs multiplayer developer commentary earlier this week, players can also choose to engage in multiplayer activities via mobile devices and a companion app. The app puts players in control of a ctOS agent whose job is stop Aiden Pearce by deploying Police units and hacking objects. It has it’s own progression that is not tied to your in-game profile and can even be used by players who don’t even own a copy of Watch Dogs.

So, with a better understanding of Watch Dogs’ online experience and the number of different ways you can interact with others, what are you going to be trying out first?

Watch Dogs hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC May 27.

Battlefield 4 – DICE VP & GM Writes Open Letter Regarding ‘New Higher-Performance Servers’

Battlefield 4 fans have been noticing a significantly improved online experience since yesterday’s EA server maintenance.

Performance issues began shortly after the launch of Battlefield 4’s Naval Strike DLC and appear to have hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users the hardest. Many took to the forums and message boards to express their frustration while developer DICE promised fixes.

In a sigh of relief, yesterday’s upgrades appear to have completely and successfully cut out any lag, or “rubber-banding”, affecting 64-player servers. We can surmise from our own testing that things are running a lot smoother.

Today, DICE vice president and general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson addressed Battlefield fans in an open letter on the Battlelog, where he attributes the recent troubles to a “configuration of certain hardware types dedicated to 64-player matches”.

We’ll let you have a read for yourself:

“Hi everyone,

As you know, we’ve been looking into resolving the “rubber banding” that some players on certain platforms have experienced with Battlefield 4 after the recent release of Naval Strike. We’ve found that the root cause of the issue was a configuration of certain hardware types dedicated to 64-player matches.

We have invested in new hardware to resolve this issue and deployed new higher-performance servers this week. In preparation, we conducted a significant amount of testing before installing the new servers to ensure they would correct the issue. We are already seeing performance improvement with 64-player matches and expect this to continue.

While the process took longer than we would’ve liked, we wanted to be 100% sure it was done right and that the long-term solution was properly in place.

Our objective is to deliver the best player experience possible. We feel this solution helps us deliver that to you. Stay tuned to our official channels for more information.

Thanks,

Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE VP & GM

We’ve definitely noticed improvements, but what about you?

Also the video from Japan shows that the PS Vita TV update will drop the same day to finally support streaming between the PS4 and PS Vita TV.

The Community Manager also dropped a tweet, stating that there is more to be revealed and detailed as we near launch of the firmware.

Watch Dogs Is Best Experienced With Player Invasion Turned On, More Multiplayer Details

With Watch Dogs‘ launch just around the corner, multiplayer details are becoming clearer and clearer as developers at Ubisoft unravel its seemingly complicated and ambiguous set up.

According to animation director Colin Graham, the studio’s number one goal was to create a multiplayer experience that blends in seamlessly with the single player experience. That means no loading times, no lobbies, etc.

“One of the things that we’ve been talking about is that we have seamless multiplayer,” Graham told “Angry Joe” from the Angry Joe Show. “So when you’re playing the game, you don’t have to go to another menu, load it, and you’re also not always necessarily always playing against the ‘elite’ multiplayer every time you’re playing it. You’re playing against other guys who are playing their story mission. You go seamlessly into their game. They quite often don’t know they’re there. You probably got hacked. You probably didn’t know the guy was there until he was into your game for quite a while.”

While there are those who may find the idea of being invaded unappealing, Graham insists that it’s the way Watch Dogs is meant to be played. “You don’t have to accept the observation missions and you can also turn off other players from being able to invade you,” he said. “But it does kind of cut back a little bit on what the real Watch Dogs experience is. The dev team? Nobody ever turns this feature off.”

Should you choose to keep it on, however, creative director Jonothan Morin notes that the game will actually track your interest in the feature and will use that information to alter the frequency in which you world is invaded by another.

“The way it’s designed is to make sure you don’t get invaded all the time,” Morin told PlayStation Access in a recent interview. “First of all, we track how interested you are to the feature. So if you invade other players, it will increase the chance that you get invaded afterwards.

“There’s kind of a shield underneath the system that gives you around an hour of break when you’re free roaming,” he explained. “If you invade a lot, that shrinks. If you don’t invade at all, then that grows in time so we don’t bother you with that. The goal is to make it as organic as possible so that players don’t feel like they’re getting all the time invaded for nothing.”

In the interview, Morin got into a number of other multiplayer details, including some of the game modes that will be available out of the box, one of which is only accessible on next-generation platforms.

“One of them is the hacking, which I think most people know by now, where you can go into someone else’s game, stalk them, hack them, and grab some information that gives you rewards afterwards.” That mode in particular was clearly demonstrated in yesterday’s 9-minute multiplayer gameplay video. “The second one, tailing, [the player] doesn’t necessarily know you’re there,” Morin added. “It creates that kind of paranoia.” He didn’t quite specify the exact goal of that game mode or what sort of rewards it might yield, however.

“Then there’s more classic one that you can also access in a more seamless way so you can race with other players in the world. You can also do – there’s a team vs. team mode. This one is on the next-gen version only, where you can actually seamlessly go from one contract to another and, next thing you know, you’re working with other players against other players.” Again, all of this is seamless, as Morin stressed that “once you stop that, you just turn the corner and do a single player mission. It kind of feels pretty weird the first time you do that.”

Of course, players can choose to create their own rules in Watch Dogs’ free roam mode. “For us, it’s a bonus where we give you the game and you can decide whether or not you’re friends or enemies with the people you are with, and then just grab a pen and paper just decide what the hell you want to do with it and have some fun,” Morin detailed.

He also explained that both multiplayer and single player share the exact same progression system, though actions in multiplayer can increase or decrease your Notoriety. Specific skills will also be associated with Notoriety that can be gained or lost, depending on your Notoriety level.

Lastly, while players will always view their character as Watch Dog’s main protagonist, Aiden Pearce, you can customize the way you appear to other players who view you as an NPC during multiplayer sessions.

“The only thing you can customize is the appearance that you’re going to have for other players,” Morin said. “So if you don’t want to look like an old women with a machine gun type of thing, you can at least choose what you’re going to look like to other players.

“But the old woman can be a nice trick.”

Watch 50 Minutes of H1Z1 Gameplay From SOE’s Live Stream

You can now watch 50 minutes of gameplay from developer Sony Online Entertainment’s free-to-play, open-world, survival game, H1Z1.

Game designer Jimmy Whisenhunt and technical director Tom Schenck brought the latest build of their DayZ-inspired zombie game to a live stream earlier this month. They pretty much covered everything there is to know about the game currently – gameplay, crafting, exploration, etc. You can watch it in the features section above.

We learned recently that microtransactions in H1Z1 won’t consist of survival essentials, which should lead to a more pleasant F2P experience overall. Stay tuned to MP1st for more on H1Z1.

H1Z1 is coming to early access on Steam next month.
