Latest Titanfall Patch Reportedly Causing Slow Load Times & Other Performance Issues

A large number of PC users are reporting loading troubles and other performance issues after having downloaded the latest game update for Titanfall.

The patch introduced a number of new features – private lobbies being one of them – while “nerfing” the Gooser challenge and providing a rather extensive list of updates and tweaks that you can read all about right here.

Reportedly, the update has also increased load times significantly when booting up a match. Over 50 comments in this sub-reddit can attest to the headaches. Players are describing instances of loading into matches a few seconds after the game has officially started, skipping the drop ship intro sequence all together.

Screen Shot 2014-04-12 at 12.03.18 AM

Other reports are mentioning other performance or lag issues as well since the update.

Respawn has made it clear that they are reading all feedback on their official forums, where similar issues were mentioned, but it doesn’t seem that they’ve yet to publicly acknowledge the concerns. We’ll certainly keep you updated with anything we hear.

How about you? Are you experiencing lengthier load times since the latest patch?

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! – Gearbox On Potential DLC, Original Vault Hunters Will Make An Appearance

It’s no secret that Gearbox loves to supporting their Borderlands titles after release with content. In fact Borderlands 2 is set to receive its final DLC almost two years after launch.

So it should come as no surprise to Borderlands fans that with the upcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, DLC isn’t being ruled out.

Talking with PC Gamer, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford stated the following on the topic of DLC:

“Right now all of the energy is being focused on the game. I think it’s a reasonable expectation [to think that there will be more DLC], but I don’t know what that is yet. We’re still making the game, but I think that’d be awesome. That’d be really cool. There’s a lot of places we could explore. There’s four characters we’re doing—we imagined more than that. It’d be awesome to build more characters too. It’d be awesome to build more content. We’ll see. I don’t want to make any promises yet, but as a content creator it’d be awesome to do more.”

Furthermore, despite Borderlands: TPS taking place on Pandora’s moon Elpis, the original vault hunters; Brick, Lilith, Mordecai, and Roland, will be making some type of cameo, according to one of the co-writers for the title, Anthony Burch. He revealed that we will see the beginning of the relationship between the original four and see how they befriended each other.

Personally, a possible cameo of the original four vault hunters is something I’m definitely looking forward to, considering the fact that Wilhem and Handsome Jack had a run in with them before Borderlands 2 took place.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set to launch this Fall for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

In what capacity would you want the original four vault hunters to be featured in Borderlands: TPS?

New Insurgency Update Adds Revolt Coop and “Beta” Steam Workshop Integration

A new game update available for New World Order’s hardcore first-person shooter, Insurgency.

It’s adds new cooperative content as well as integration for the “beta” version of Steam Workshop. Not all functions will be available, but players will be able to upload and download custom maps.

There are also a number of stability and gameplay improvements that you can read up on below, courtesy of Insurgency’s official blog.

NWI is currently at PAX East with the new build of Insurgency, so make sure to pay them a visit if you are attending.

New Content

  • Added Revolt Coop.
  • Added “beta” version of Steam Workshop support to the game. Certain features may not work fully, but players should be able to upload their maps and download other maps. Please provide us with feedback and issues related to this so we can keep improving it.

Stability Fixes

  • Disabled nav mesh loading when no bots are needed. This should improve map loading speed and also reduce server crashing on changelevel.
  • Fixed client side crash in Revolt specifically.
  • Fixed crash with vphysics object creation at an invalid position.
  • Fixed crash in control point guard behavior for bots.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Changed the damage indicator so it’s more minimalist like it was before.
  • Changed Vendetta so it no longer includes VIP players on both teams. Instead, the goal is simply to control the objective or eliminate enemy team.
  • Reduced Occupy capture time slightly.
  • Removed restricted areas from Strike.
  • Added more chance involved in determining whether a counter-attack will happen, even if most of your team is alive (it’s about 75% likely if your whole team is alive instead of 100%).
  • Improved Peak Coop.
  • FN FAL now uses a 20 round magazine instead of 30 rounds.
  • Overview map now correctly updates players outside of your PVS.
  • Overview map now applies a drop-shadow to highlighted player text/lines and also displays player information when you hover your mouse over someone.
  • As a spectator you can now use the overview map to click on a player and spectate them.
  • Free aim angles are now networked to in-eye observers so when you are spectating someone, bullets impact should more properly correspond to where the player is aiming on the screen.
  • Player who kills VIP in Ambush gets objective score.
  • Capturing the intel in Infiltrate will now give you an objective score.
  • End-round menu will take into account number of caches destroyed in objective tally.
  • Fixed incorrect team for Firefight capture HQ sounds.
  • Fixed missing Molotov Cocktail response code.
  • Added simple Infiltrate behavior for bots so you can now play the mode offline vs. AI.
  • Increased “safe distance” for RPG use by bots.
  • Fixed some training issues and confusion players have mentioned.
  • Tweaked Revolt Skirmish cache locations.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed broken M249 2x scope.
  • Potential fix for “flamethrower bug” in spectator (please give us feedback on this).
  • Fixed incorrect squads being shown for highlighted players in map overview.
  • Fixed broken classes (always “none”) in coop end-round lobby.
  • Fixed M16A4 “favorite weapon” never showing in end-round menu.
  • Fixed messed up texture on Mosin Nagant world weapon model.
  • Fixed water impact sounds.
  • Talking player names now draw over the end-round menu.
  • Fixed Coop bug where sniper role wouldn’t come with a scope.
  • Fixed cache positions in Revolt Strike.

User Experience

  • Added ConVar “sv_vote_kick_ban_owner” which defaults to on. When enabled, if a player gets banned and they’re playing through family sharing it will also ban the owner of the game for the same amount of time.
  • Global ban lists check the game owner’s Steam ID to see if they have also been banned.
  • You can lookup the 64-bit Steam ID as well as the old Steam representation through lookup_id . This will also show the game owner’s Steam ID if the game is shared through Family Sharing.
  • Added and tweaked a bunch of audio in the game including new explosive sound assets.
  • Updated Dutch language files.

Gang Beasts – Check Out This Hilarious Multiplayer Brawler From Boneloaf

Gang Beasts is a four-player brawler in development at Boneloaf studios that you should definitely check out.

Imagine four Teletubbies punching, grabbing, and wrestling each other on top of a moving truck, or throwing each other into a pit of fire. That’s essentially Gang Beasts in a nutshell. Throw in some ridiculous physics, and you’ve got a brawler that’s hilarious to watch, and looks like a blast to play with three other buddies.

The game has only been in development for a few months in a studio made up of only three – soon-to-be-four – developers.

“We felt we could build a company off the back of this game,” James Brown told VG247. “People have been offering to support us through donations or offering to buy it. We’ve had a few comments from people saying, ‘take my money’ [laughs]. We’ve had close to 150,000 downloads of the game, obviously it’s free at the moment and there’s a number of people who have downloaded all three builds, because there’s been variations of the content in them. So only a small percentage of that might be people willing to pay for the game, but that might be enough to fund the rest of development.”

[youtube id=”anlJ0c9Ln3U”]

Boneloaf hopes to eventually release Gang Beasts on PC, Mac, Linux, Android, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U. It was recently Greenlit on Steam.

You can download the prototype on IndieDB.

The Last of Us Remastered HQ Teaser Trailer Released, Runs At 60 Frames

Naughty Dog revealed yesterday that the Last of Us would be getting a remastered version for the PS4, and released a trailer to go along with it.

But because of quality and FPS limits of YouTube, they have released the same trailer again, this time uncompressed and running at a much higher frame rate.

You can download (or stream) it below (82mb). Looking at the source info of the footage, we can determine that it’s running at 60 frames-per-second (the video, not the game). Due to high traffic that naughty Dog is recieving on their site, you’ll be able to download the teaser trailer form an alternative source down below.

The video runs at 1080P, 60FPS and at a bitrate of 8916kbps

Download The Last of Us Remastered High Quality Trailer

This is a relief for many users requesting for the high-def footage, instead of Sony’s normal Youtube route.

Thanks, Neogaf.

H-Hour: World’s Elite Devs Say No VR Support Now – ‘Oculus, maybe’, Possibly ‘the Sony Version’

During yesterday’s H-Hour: World’s Elite live stream, David Sears, the head of SOF Studio gave his take on virtual reality support for H-Hour.

Though the PlayStation 4 doesn’t support PS Move as of now, it seems like it will later on in a future update when Sony launches their VR headset. That prompted the question, “will H-Hour support the PS Move and/or VR headsets?”

“We’ll think about it” Sears said, “but something like the move isn’t well suited because holding a weapon (controller) over time starts to hurt”.

As for VR support, “It’ll be interesting to see how people generally react once these things are deployed in a serious way,” he added. “Oculus, maybe. Who knows? The Sony version? Possibly. But what it really boils down to is supporting something like that takes away development money from the core, takes away the numbers of maps, and character content they can do”

“Do people really want us to give up on content feature and mechanics in order to support a piece of hardware most of them will not have initially? Sure, down the line it can be apart of an update, but if a publisher comes down the line and says ‘we would like you to support the Oculus Rift, and we will give you 10 Million Dollars’, I will seriously consider it,” Sears said jokingly. “But we have enough our plate just making this game great for two platforms and adding another peripheral just confuses things and makes testing that much harder”

So for the time being, it seems that VR won’t be happening until it’s generally accepted.

Lastly, for those hoping the team will be at this year’s E3, Sears says it all really depends on whether or not someone picks them up and wants to show the game off. It’s a “maybe, maybe not” situation.

Yesterday, we learned that H-Hour: World’s Elite will be built on the Unreal Engine 4.

Here’s What Dogfighting Looks Like in Star Citizen

Things are coming along nicely for Cloud Imperium Games and their under-development space combat simulator, Star Citizen.

At PAX East earlier today, the studio showed off their hotly anticipated dogfighting module during a live stream broadcast, which demonstrates what flight and combat in Star Citizen is really like, at least at this early stage in development.

If you can ignore the noisy crowd, it’s easy to appreciate Star Citizen’s amazing visuals and the freedom of movement that your space craft allows during combat. Make sure to check out the captured footage above.

The game is currently being developed for the PC on Crytek’s CryEngine.

Driveclub Still Targeted For a 2014 Release, Microtransactions Detailed

Still with no definite launch date, design director of Driveclub, Paul Rustchynsky, is letting followers people know that the PlayStation 4-exclusive team-based racer is still coming this year.

Sony stated a few weeks back that they would give us an update on the actual release date, though nothing has come out as of yet. Seeing that PAX East is now underway, this could very well change over the next few days.

While Driveclub will come in two versions, a full retail version or a free PS+ version said to be different, microtransactions have been all the talk lately. Paul clarified his statement earlier about no Microtransaction, saying it won’t be the same one in Trial Frontier where players pay for boosts and other items to give them an edge.

Keep your sights on MP1st for more Driveclub details.

Call of Duty Championship Video Highlights The Rise of eSports in America

This year’s Call of Duty Championship, hosted by Major League Gaming and presented by Xbox, is the second major global Call of Duty tournament to successfully bring the world’s top talent under one roof to compete in a $1 million prize pool.

It might sound impressive, but Call of Duty is a fresh face and a newcomer to the eSports scene where games like League of Legends, StarCraft, and even Counter-Strike reign supreme. Still, it’s a part of the ever-evolving entertainment industry in America, one where the spectator sport of playing video games is enjoying more and more popularity year after year.

As Team Mutiny owner and manager says, watching people play games like Call of Duty “is not a niche,” it’s “a movement”. Hear what he, along with MLG president, casters, pro gamers, parents, and members of the Infinity Ward development team had to say in this 2014 Call of Duty Championship video from The Guardian.

Hopefully we’ll get to see more competitive Call of Duty next year with Sledgehammer Game’s upcoming title.

Titanfall Xbox 360 Will Not Come To Games on Demand

A digital download version of Bluepoint Games’ Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is not in the works, according to EA support.

“After extensive testing, we felt that it simply did not represent the true Titanfall experience and it was decided not to release a Games on Demand version,” reads this support page on EA Help.

“As we never officially announced that Titanfall would be available via Games on Demand and the option to purchase it that way should have never been offered. We hope players understand this decision was all about quality and making sure you get the best Titanfall experience.”

It should be noted that Titanfall on the Xbox 360 requires a 1GB mandatory install from the disc in order to run properly on the older hardware.

The game is also getting a new title update sometime during the day of April 11 that introduces Private Matches and includes a number of additional fixes and tweaks. You can catch the entire list of patch notes here.

Free-to-Play Tactical Shooter Ghost Recon Phantoms Launches on Steam Today, New Trailer

You can find the latest details on the most recent update, “patch 1.0”, right here. You’ll find a heavily updated look over previous iterations of the game, including a number of rebalances in key areas.

Don’t miss out on the trailer above, and visit the game’s official page on Steam right here.

“The game has changed; today, battlefield supremacy is dictated by technology. In a world driven by economic interests, the ATHENA Corp. has begun selling its weapon and technology to the highest bidder.

In an unstable world, Ghosts fight to uphold order as elite soldiers and defenders of US global interests. On the other side, Phantoms, an equally armed group of ex-Ghosts, seek to dismantle world order and challenge US imperialism from the shadows.

Both sides fight for what they believe in. Both know that teamwork is the key to victory.

Which side are you on? Because we fight together or die alone.”

Had a chance to try it out yet? What are your thoughts?

H-Hour: World’s Elite Will Run on Unreal Engine 4, UE3 Used For Proof of Concept

Since H-Hour: World’s Elite was first announced, it has been speculated that the game would indeed run off Unreal Engine 4 engine, recently demonstrated at GDC 2014.

No confirmation has been made, however, until now.

Speaking in a recent live stream, SOF Studio head David Sears revealed that the final game would be running off of Unreal Engine 4. He stressed how the team initially had little experience with the engine, and how during the first week he wanted to “gouge his eyes” out. But, eventually, they learned its intricacies and can now see why so many developers use it.

So, now, you may be wondering why the current game doesn’t look like it’s running on UE4. That’s because their proof of concept is actually running on Unreal Engine 3. The purpose of this is to get some gameplay footage out there to show off to investors in order to help them get started on full production. “Nobody believes unless they see it,” David Sears said in the stream. “We have to prove this is a good concept, that people will enjoy it, and that this team can work together to make that concept”.

He went on to state that the concept is currently in Beta and is ready to be shown to those who need to believe. However, they need to make a full game before the actual open/private Beta starts, which is “months and months and months” later.

And we know many of you have had concerns with how the game looks, and as mentioned it is only a proof of concept, but the team assured us that it’ll have the values of a Triple A title, but the gameplay will always come first.

H-Hour: World’s Elite is set to launch next year on PC and PlayStation 4.
