Xbox One Twitch Broadcast Overview, Update Your Xbox One Controller

Just in time for Titanfall, Microsoft and Twitch are rolling out a brand new system update for the Xbox One that will allow its users to broadcast live with the use of two simple words.

Xbox Live’s “Major Nelson” has put together a short preview video showing you exactly how everything will work once you download the update this March 11. Check it out above.

Also, for those hoping to get the most out of their older gaming headset’s chat capabilities, you may have heard about the new Xbox One headset adapter that launched recently, allowing you to connect older 2.5mm cables to the new Xbox One controller. What you might not have known, however, is that the controller needs a software update in order to take advantage of the new device. Luckily, Xbox Support has posted details on how to do so, so just follow these eight steps below.

How to update your Xbox One controller

  1. Make sure your console is on and you’re signed in and connected to Xbox Live.

Note It’s important to connect to Xbox Live because your console will need the latest system update, which contains the newest controller software. If you’ve connected recently, your Xbox One is probably already up to date, but you should connect anyway just to be sure. If your console needs an update, you’ll be prompted to install one.

  2. Plug the Stereo Headset Adapter into the bottom of your controller.
  3. Plug in a headset (a headset must be plugged in so the adapter will turn on).
  4. Plug the big end of the included USB cable into the port on the side of the console.
  5. Instructions to install the update should automatically be displayed. Follow the instructions, and don’t disconnect the USB cable while the update is in progress. (The process can take up to 3 minutes.)
  6. Instructions to install the update should automatically be displayed. Follow the instructions, and don’t disconnect the USB cable while the update is in progress. (The process can take up to 3 minutes.)
  7. When the update is complete, unplug the USB cable. If you have additional controllers to update, you can connect them now, one at a time, select the Update another button on the screen, and then follow the steps.
  8. Press the Xbox button on the wireless controller to turn it on. Your controller is now up-to-date, and you’re ready to use your Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter.

You can now chat over Xbox Live with older gaming headsets like your Astro A40s. You’ll also need the recent March Xbox One System update which you can learn more about here.

Thanks, dismal626.

As the image above indicates, the install size weighs in at a hefty 49.99 GB.

As it stands, Xbox One owners will not be able to pre-install Titanfall before its March 11 launch. Originally, the news was posted erroneously on Xbox Wire that Xbox One users would be able to, but it was later removed and confirmed that that would not be the case.

Respawn Won’t Ban Early “Legit Copies” of Titanfall, Service May Be Interrupted

Developer Respawn Entertainment won’t ban users who are playing Titanfall early with “legit copies”.

CEO Vince Zampella gave the news on Twitter, stating, “we won’t stop or ban legit copies”. He did add, however, “It is prelaunch, so there may be interruptions in service as we prep servers.”

Titanfall is mere days away from its March 11 launch on the Xbox One and PC, but already users are suiting up and waging war Titan style online. Case-in-point, Reddit user “Soccadude123” posted this image earlier today with the caption, “Look what I got!” (Potato cam quality.)

Screen Shot 2014-03-07 at 12.03.35 AM

Users currently playing may have already noticed a day-one patch.

In the same Twitter thread, Zampella also addressed the situation in South Africa, where gamers recently learned Titanfall would not ship in their region due to poor network performance. According to him, the studio “will look further into it after launch”.

Titanfall officially launches on the Xbox One and PC March 11 and on the Xbox 360 March 25. Of course, it has launched already for some.

Watch Dogs – No You Can’t Own A Dog, But You Can Enjoy 8-Player Freeroam

Creative director at Ubisoft, Jonathan Morin, provides more details on Ubisoft’s espionage, open-world third-person shooter Watch Dogs after the game’s big announcement earlier today.

First and for most, for all you asking, the game will not feature any sort of dog that may be either watching Aiden throughout his journey of revenge or may at one point become his companion.

However, Morin did confirm the rumors that the game would sport an 8-players free roam option in the open world at any given time. No exact details whether this is pertaining to a game mode, or just the max amount of players.

Be on the look out tomorrow, as the team plans on holding a Q&A via Twitch TV.

Watch Dogs launches on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on May 27th.

Respawn Entertainment has just released the first patch for Titanfall on Xbox One.

The patch weighs in at roughly 840MB, and it is now available to players who have managed to get their hands on the game early. A few days ago, Vincent Zampella did mention that the team behind Titanfall was working a day one patch, however the studio hasn’t published any patch notes for the update as of the time of writing.

TitanFall Patch MP1st

Xbox One users will also have to download a 20GB install, as Respawn confirmed last week.

Keep your sights on MP1st for more Titanfall news.

Report – EA Cancels Titanfall Pre-Orders in South Africa Due To Poor Network Performance

EA is cancelling pre-orders for Respawn Entertainment’s fast-approaching shooter, Titanfall, in South Africa, according to recent reports.

This image of an Origin notification has recently appeared online, signifying the cancellation of this user’s pre-order copy of Titanfall due to poor network performance in the region.

HGtORRn

Currently, Microsoft does not host Azure servers in the region, which is what Titanfall’s online experience will run on. By the sounds of it, current networking capabilities don’t seem to hold up to a standard that would allow EA to launch the game in South Africa.

Earlier, the publishing company told South African gaming site MyGaming that “EA, Respawn and Microsoft have been testing Titanfall all over the world, including South Africa, and we’re confident that players worldwide will have a great experience when the game launches in March. Of course, we’ll always be looking to improve that experience over time – whether that’s through local resources or other enhancements – but we have no other news on that today.

It was also noted earlier that Australian servers would not be available during Titanfall’s launch, though we’ve heard no reports of pre-order cancellations in that region.

We’ve reached out to EA for a statement with regards to the future of Titanfall’s launch in both regions.

New Killer Instinct Update Available, Latest Dev Stream Details Fulgore

After being awfully silent the past few weeks, Double Helix has a treat for all Killer Instinct players today.

A new patch for the free-to-play fighter is now available, which fixes the replay function and more. For the full details, view the patch notes below:

Killer Intinct March 6 Patch Notes

  • Players will now be able to save their favorite character-specific customizations to specific colors.
  • Players who do not own the Combo/Ultra bundles can now purchase their characters from the character select screen.
  • XBOX Live renamed to “MULTIPLAYER”
  • Leaderboards now located on the main menu
  • If you receive game/match invites prior to the “downloading content” screen, players will be prompted AFTER the check-in
  • The replay functionality has now been updated and fixed.
  • Match stats now correctly if a match results in a DRAW when playing online.
  • Ranked “Most Well Rounded” win ration column has now been fixed to show correct data.

Additionally, with today being Thursday, a new Killer Instinct stream with the development team took place earlier where they discussed a few details on how the final character of Season One, Fulgore, will play.

They revealed that Fulgore will be a “zoner” character and will be great for those who love to manage their meter. However, despite being a mix of Killer Instinct One and Two, Fulgore won’t retain his invisibility move. He will still maintain his teleporter from the previous installments of the franchise, however.

Currently, Fulgore and the story mode feature are set to launch simultaneously later this month.

Battlefield 4 Naval Strike – DICE Explains New Game Mode, Carrier Assault

Naval Strike is coming to Battlefield 4 late March for Premium members and is bringing with it new maps, weapons, assignments, and Achievements/Trophies.

What a handful of long-time Battlefield fans are looking forward to the most, however, is the return of Battlefield 2142’s Titan mode, reimagined in Naval Strike as “Carrier Assault”. Instead of hovering dreadnaught space ships called Titans, players will battle over land and sea to establish good ground from where their attack on the enemy’s naval carrier will commence.

“There are two ways of destroying the enemy carrier: either by full map control or assaulting the carrier as infantry,” says DICE lead gameplay designer Gustav Halling in a recent Battlefield Blog update. He explained that each round is divided into two stages. Both teams start the match on their own carrier and race to control the map by capturing missile launch pads in specific locations. “This will automatically launch missiles towards the enemy carrier throughout the round, eventually destroying its hull and making it open for infantry attacks,” he says.

In stage two, the carrier assault begins. “The team can then either drive a boat out to the carrier and climb aboard, or use the parachute spawn points above it,” he explains. “Once inside, the team must destroy two M-COM stations, which will open up new areas to the carrier, with the engine room being the final one.”

While it was important for the team to really get the end game right, where both teams are attacking each other’s carriers, halling said that they also “wanted to keep control of the map important, so a team which is having trouble pushing through inside the enemies’ carrier can still win the level by defending their own carrier while controlling the missile launchers.”

[youtube id=”0x9m58Vol1c”]

Carrier Assault may be a hommage to a classic Battlefield game mode, but Halling says that the differences in setting and time period “make Carrier Assault a fresh experience, and we hope you will get the same thrill out of parachute-spawning down to a carrier as you did when blasting off in a rocket pod towards a Titan”.

Were you a big fan of Titan mode in Battlefield 2142? Excited to see its return in Naval Strike?

Metal Gear Online – Why It’s Being Developed In America And Not Japan

Metal Gear Online is making a return in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and despite it being a large success in Japan with earlier iterations, Kojima reveals why they decided to move the development over to their Los Angeles studio.

Fans in Japan have criticized MGO development, stating that it should be developed in their own country. Kojima responded by stating that, earlier, the game was a success, but not so much outside of Japan. The online mode in MGS4 never “blew up” like in Japan, thus the reason why, this time around, the Online mode is being made in America. Still, it will have key members from the Japanese studio.

“Metal Gear Online was a very successful online game in Japan,” said Kojima to IGN. “But worldwide it wasn’t necessarily a success….several core members of our studio in Tokyo that were involved in the development of Metal Gear Online are working hand in hand together with Japan and LA.”

The team is working hard on the game’s multiplayer component, ensuring that it’s an “online mode everyone will be able to enjoy whether they’re in other continents or Japan”.

Metal Gear Online is set to launch with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which currently has no release date. The Prologue of the game, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, will be launch on March 11th without an online mode.

Big Battlefield 4 PC Game Update Now Live, Introduces New Weapon and Vehicle Tweaks

A new game update is now available for the PC version of Battlefield 4.

The update includes a number of items that were also seen in the recent console updates, including an increase in the game’s rank cap. In addition, it introduces a handful of weapon and vehicle updates that were detailed in an earlier report. It also looks like it will begin allowing users to unlock some of the new Naval Strike weapons from the game’s upcoming ocean-themed multiplayer expansion.

Lastly, a number of PC users are also reporting that their Veteran Battlepacks are now showing up for their soldier. Check out the full update notes below.

Battlefield 4 March 6 PC Game Update Notes

  • Several crash fixes and stability improvements
  • Fixed an issue with data re-sending that was causing rubber banding on some servers
  • Increased the maximum rank to 120
  • Fixed an issue with the kill camera triggering before game client would display the last portion of damage being dealt, giving players the impression that they died too early
  • Fixed issue with blood effects, damage indicators, and health bar updates in the HUD being out of sync. This issue meant that players would sometimes miss information about being shot at, or get the impression of too few hits occurring for the amount of bullets that hit.
  • Tweaked the speed, dispersion, and re-arm duration of the IFV and MBT projectiles
  • Tweaked timing for how long the kill feed stays on screen
  • Fixed an issue where the message “Joining Server” sometimes didn’t appear when the user tried to join the server
  • Added default player slots to server browser filters
  • Fix for an issue on Silk Road where players could deform the terrain to create a big, water-filled hole
  • Fix for a bug that occurred with the end-of-round camera if the player was in the bomber in China Rising
  • Fix for an issue on Rogue Transmission where it was impossible to capture a flag while riding the quad bike
  • Prevented players from interacting with an M-COM on Siege of Shanghai after it had been destroyed
  • Fixed an issue where audio for disarming M-COMs could get stuck in an infinite loop
  • Added minimap details for missing carriers in Rush on Paracel Storm and Hainan Resort
  • Fix for an exploit that would allow players to shoot two tank shells with not enough delay between shots
  • Removed a bug where squads would get split up when transitioning between Conquest and Air Superiority
  • Fixed an issue where Defuse could get stuck in an unplayable state between rounds
  • Removed a bug that would cause players to sometimes get stuck in the killcam after having been killed
  • Fixed an issue with revive icon not being grayed out in-game on map and minimap, when the player died after getting revived in Defuse
  • General improvements and bug fixes for the Battledash and Mission create screens
  • Fixed a bug where red laser dots would get stuck on textures
  • Zoom dispersion fix. When zooming in while firing the dispersion did not lower to the new max value
  • Fixed a bug where the enemy health always displayed as full in the kill-cam
  • Fixed an issue in Defuse so killed bomb carrier can’t plant a bomb in the next round without picking up a new bomb
  • The MAV has been updated to prevent players from exploiting it
  • Improved repair rates for vehicles with different base healths
  • Tweaked volume balance and other ambiance parameters on the majority of base game and China Rising maps
  • Improved the track vehicles wheel friction so vehicles don’t get stuck at relatively minor hills
  • Fixed an issue with faulty zoom levels that occurred when using click to zoom in. While sprinting and zooming, will mess up the zoom levels, from hip to zoom.
  • Improved boat physics and handling, including implementation of a system that lets players push stuck boats back in the water

Spectator Mode

  • Added a chat feature, allowing spectators to take part of the chat of the match they’re spectating
  • Fix for the EMP/Proxy Attack effects being visible in Spectator Mode
  • Removed the black screen that was visible when switching between cameras and players in Spectator Mode
  • Removed squad colors in Spectator Mode, now only the red and blue team colors are visible
  • Decreased the user interface clutter in Spectator Mode by removing health pack, ammo pack and revive icons
  • Tweaked the 1st person view in Spectator Mode so that spectators now see exactly what players see and nothing else
  • Added a functionality in Spectator Mode so that, when going into Freecam from 1st or 3rd person mode, the first static freecam will be moved to behind the previously spectated player
  • Added the possibility in Spectator Mode to ‘fire’ at a player from Freecam to go into 1st person view of that player
  • Spectators can now see which player on the scoreboard that carries the bomb in the Obliteration and Defuse game modes

Grenade Tweaks

  • Increased the number of M84 FLASHBANG and HAND FLARES the player can carry from 2 to 3.
  • Increased the effect of M84 FLASHBANG grenades on friendly and enemy players.
  • Increased the maximum damage for the RGO from 67 to 80, however reduced the range of explosion.
  • Reduced the visual and audio effect for the detonation of the V40 Mini to highlight its smaller blast when compared to other grenades. Decreased the maximum damage from 80 to 60, and decreased the range at which maximum damage is applied.

Pistol Tweaks

  • Increased the aimed accuracy of the M1911 to make it a viable choice once the COMPACT 45 has been unlocked.
  • Increased the close range damage of the M1911, QSZ-92, FN57, CZ-75 and COMPACT 45.
  • Reduced the delay between pressing the trigger and the bullet firing for the M412 REX and .44 MAGNUM.
  • Increased the magazine capacity of the QSZ-92 to 20 rounds. Additionally reduced the recoil of the QSZ-92 to give it a clear difference from the FN57.
  • Corrected a small error with the COMPACT 45 accuracy when crouched or prone.

Weapon Tweaks

  • Increased the accuracy of pump action shotguns (870 MCS, HAWK 12g, SPAS-12, and UTS 15) while on the move and aiming.
  • Reduced the long range damage of the MTAR to bring it in line with the rest of the Carbines.
  • Adjusted the way inaccuracy is handled when transitioning from Hip fire to Aimed fire.
  • The Heavy Barrel’s Accuracy bonus now also applies on the move, at a reduced bonus. This should give the Heavy Barrel a wider role for players who desire accuracy while aimed in all situations.
  • Synchronized the timing of the aim down the sights animation of sniper rifles with their ability to fire with full accuracy. Players no longer need to wait for additional time after the aiming animation plays to get accurate shots. There is still a delay to achieve full accuracy, so Quick Scoping is still not possible.
  • The SRS bolt action time has been tweaked and the rate of fire has been lowered
  • The GOL bolt action time has been tweaked
  • The muzzle velocity for the MP7 has been reduced
  • The MTAR21 muzzle velocity has been reduced
  • Updated the handling of the 1x scopes for Type95B1, A91, SteyrAug, SAR21, QBZ951, FAMAS, UTAS, MTAR, L85A2, and F2000
  • Updated rate of fire for the RGP7 and NLAW

Vehicle Tweaks

  • Reduced the total amount of missiles carried by the Mobile Anti-Aircraft vehicles from 6 to 4.
  • Reduced the velocity of the MAA’s default 20MM CANNON from 1200m/s to 800m/s to match the 30MM CANNON.
  • Reduced the physical impact of all Anti-Aircraft missiles to prevent helicopters from flipping uncontrollably when hit. The damage values have not been changed.
  • Reduced the cone in which ACTIVE RADAR missiles search for targets, making them require a higher level of skill in predicting where a target will be when the missile is fired.
  • Increased the direct damage done by the Attack Helicopter’s gunner cannon. The gunner will be better able to assist the pilot in taking down vehicle targets with this change.
  • Increased the direct hit damage of the Zuni Rockets for Attack Helicopters. The rate of fire of these rockets combined with their smaller magazine pool made them a poor choice over the other two rocket types.
  • Reduced the splash damage and maximum splash damage range of the Scout Helicopter 25MM CANNONS.
  • Reduced the “intelligence” of the MBT LAW missiles, requiring the player to aim the missile closer to their target before the smart projectile will activate. Additionally, the MBT LAW now reloads slightly slower. Finally, a bug where the MBT LAW would pass through an ACTIVE PROTECTION shield has been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue where ACTIVE PROTECTION and the MP-APS did not properly stop 12G FRAG rounds.
  • Reduced the range where the M2 SLAM will do maximum damage to vehicles from 6M to 3M. The range was deemed to be too large, making the M2 SLAM far superior to the M15 AT MINE.
  • Reduced the damage the STAFF shell does to all targets by 25%. This should balance the ease of use of the STAFF shell with its damage potential.

“We Haven’t Seen Any Damage” To The Battlefield Franchise, Says EA CFO

EA says the Battlefield franchise hasn’t been damaged, according to CFO Blake Jorgensen, despite it’s problematic launch.

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media &, Telecom Conference in San Francisco, Jorgensen stated that the company is keen on maintaining a good image for the brand.

“We haven’t seen any damage, clearly we’re very focused on protecting the brand,” he said. “We’ve also tried to provide extra content to the consumers to make sure they keep coming back and playing the game and we’re finding that it’s working very well, I don’t see that there’s a damage issue. I think for us it’s making sure that we’re providing great gameplay for the consumer and we’ll continue to do that.”

Unfortunatley, Jorgensen did not talk about any of the upcoming games being developed by DICE, but said that Battlefield will play a key part in the new fiscal year, which is just a month away.

Currently, DICE is all set to launch Battlefield’s third expansion, Naval Strike, later this March, which will be the last DLC developed by the Stockholm studio, according to recent reports.

Thanks, GameSpot.

Killzone: Shadowfall First Expansion “The Insurgent Pack” Detailed, New Weapons, Class, And More

With the recent release of two free Multiplayer Maps, Guerrilla Games has now announced the first paid expansion pack for Killzone: Shadow Fall.

According to the official PS Blog post, the Insurgent Expansion Pack will come with three new weapons, two new game modes, and one new class with additional side content such as new character voice overs, and spotlights. All of this will cost $9.99. Though, if you are a season pass holder ($19.99), you won’t have to pay for this expansion when it releases in April. You can read the full details below.

The Insurgent – a brand new class with two unique abilities: Hack and Steal.

The insurgent starts with just a pistol and his wits about him. As vulnerable as he is, he can slowly build up his arsenal in the game by using [Steal] to steal weapons and abilities from downed enemies, which enables him to use those weapons throughout the game, even if he falls in combat. By Using [Hack] he can change enemy ground automata into friendlies, turning the tide of battle quite swiftly.

3 New Abilities – The Scout, Support and Assault also get additional abilities

  • E-Pulse emitter – a deployable beacon that sends out an e-pulse making it difficult for enemy units to install automata in that area
  • Tactical Echo emitter – a deployable beacon that send out a Tactical Echo from a fixed location making the area hard to infiltrate by hidden enemy units
  • Guard Drone – The Assault gets a stationary Buddy drone; deploy it in one place and it guards the location from a ground level.

3 New Weapons – Welcome old friends and new with this pack of weapons for the Scout, Assault and Support:

  • M82 – the classic assault rifle of choice from Killzone 2 and 3 is back!
  • L512 SMG Pistol – this amazing machine pistol makes your tactical secondary weapon of choice that much more punch
  • Sta14 Rifle – The sniper rifle of many battles past adds to your long distance sniping arsenal.

New Single Player Elite Mode – The nightmarish difficulty of Elite Mode will test the hardest of warriors

3 lives, Hard difficulty, and the Shadowfall campaign to test your mettle.

New Online Collectibles Mode – Find the online collectibles crates in game for rewards

A limited set of collectible crates will spawn only for Insurgent Expansion holders, one per match for a limited time. Collect one and earn extra points in game, collect more and stand to win rewards in game.

Insurgent Personalisation Pack

  • 1 OWL Skin
  • 3 Spotlight Moves
  • 1 Voice Over pack containing HGH and VSA battle chatter voices

New Challenges and Trophies

All this content comes with its own set of Challenges and Trophies to unlock. Trophy details will be released soon.

Seems like a well-rounded package, if you ask me. For those who downloaded the new maps, how are you liking them so far?
