Battlefield 3 Players Report New Playlist Changes on Consoles Since Latest Update

According to incoming reports from Battlefield 3 console players, a playlist updates have been added to the Battlefield 3 server browser.

Reports suggest that upon looking at the map rotation of severs titled “[DICE] Normal Server,” you will find that some of these servers feature only large Conquest maps such as Wake Island, Caspian Border, Operation Firestorm, Kharg Island, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula. Angry_Gnome, who brought this to our attention via Reddit, suggests gamers “favorite” these servers in order to revisit them. Comments on this thread also suggest that other playlist changes were made as well, including mixed game types.

This was most likely a weak that was made since the recent maintenance that took place this morning which was meant to lay the groundwork for the upcoming big patch. No announcement has been made by DICE regarding these tweaks but we’ve contacted them for an official statement.

Stay tuned for further details!

Battlefield 3 PS3 Input Lag Update In The Works?

A while back, we reported on some suggested fixes for input lag issues found on the PS3 version of Battlefield 3. While there was a bit of confusion surrounding some of the steps suggested by Senior Gameplay designer Alan Kertz, he recently clarified further and revealed what the team is working on to help alleviate the issues.

Much of the confusion was regarding AA and vsync features on the PS3 and how they can be tweaked to help reduce input lag. Kertz was recently asked via Twitter to clarify: “I remember back a while, you thought the latest patch allowed PS3 players to disable v-sync.. is this in the works?” asked one fan in particular. Kertz’s response was rather surprising: “It’s part of an update we’ve been working on, it’s combined AA and vsync if I understand right should reduce lag for affected gamers.” While it may not be surprising that DICE is looking into the situation, this is the first time we’ve heard anything about an actual update for PS3 users.

If there is indeed something in the works, it most likely won’t be making it into the upcoming general patch, but might be included in a future PS3-specific patch, much like the last PS3 VoIP update.

Speaking of updates, a small backend update recently went live this morning in order to lay the groundwork for the upcoming big patch. You can read more about it here.

Do you think a fix for PS3 users is finally in the works? Let us know in the comments below and make sure to follow MP1st on Twitter and Facebook for further updates!

A big thanks to Chris for the tip!

MW3 Collection 1 Now Live, ‘DLC Disabled’ Functionality Added to Matchmaking, and More

The first Modern Warfare 3 DLC pack, Collection 1, hits Xbox Live, and brings along some changes to how Playlists work.

You can download Collection 1 through the in-game store for Xbox 360 owners, and it will set you back 1200 Microsoft points. The collection packs in two spec-ops missions, Negotiator and Black Ice, and four multiplayer maps, Piazza, Liberation, Overwatch, and Black Box. You can watch the trailer here.

With the new content pack available to all Modern Warfare 3 players (not only premium Elite), the Elite Playlists have been turned into Collection 1 Playlists, which contains the following game modes, and only features the four new maps:

  • Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill Confirmed Playlist
  • Collection 1 Objectives
  • Hardcore Ricochet Mosh Pit (Hardcore TDM, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and S&D with ricochet damage)

Other playlists have been updated to feature the new maps in the rotation. Now, before you search for a lobby, you can decide whether to enable DLC maps to be in show up in your search or not. You have to press the back button on your controller before selecting Find Match and your respective playlist and game mode. Normal playlists (Standard, Advanced, and Community) are set to include the new maps in rotation by default, so you have to press the back button in order not to return DLC maps. After opting to exclude DLC from matchmaking, you get the following message “searching for DLC content is disabled for normal playlists.” You can re-enable it any time.

Collection 1 has added new achievements, which can read about here.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter will Feature ‘Blue on Blue’ Playlist, has BF3’s ‘Micro-Destruction and Amazing Lighting’

EA senior creative director Richard Farrelly talks Medal of Honor Warfighter, ‘Blue on Blue’, Frostbite 2, and Battlefield 3 comparisons.

In an interview with CVG, Richard Farrelly sheds some light on several topic regarding the multiplayer portion of Medal of Honor Warfighter. Farelly assured that Danger Close is up to the task of developing both the single-player and multiplayer parts of the game. He explained, “we’ve got a lot of good DNA on the team now from other different studios that’ve come over; we’ve had some guys from DICE working on the multiplayer side and we’ve got a lot of people from other teams working with us on single-player.”

Farrelly stressed that honoring “Tier 1 forces from around the world” is one of the things that sets Medal of Honor: Warfighter apart from its predecessor. Warfighter will feature “12 of the world’s best units from different nations in the game. We’re looking at the SAS from the UK, SAS from Australia, KSK from Germany, the Polish GROM – because they have a cool name,” Farrelly jokingly added. You can spot some of the other teams in the reveal trailer.

Further, we now have the first details on the Blue on Blue game mode. Ferrelly explained, “we have a playlist [Blue on Blue] that came out of a conversation we were having with the guys, which was about how they’re always trying to make themselves better, they’re always measuring themselves up against the guy next to them, whether in their unit or in another unit. So we thought alright, let’s have a ‘who’s better? SAS or SEALs?’ Put them in an arena and have them fight it out. That was how we came up with the Blue on Blue playlist – it’s a place people can go and settle their ‘who’s better?’ arguments.”

On the subject of the game’s engine, DICE developed Frostbite 2.0, Farrelly had to say, “obviously [DICE] had to make a game on an engine that they were making, so they absolutely had some challenges. To be truthful we have our own challenges switching from one engine to new technology.” He assured. “through a little hard work learning their stuff the result is the game looks great and plays great.”

Even though Battlefield 3 and Warfighter share the same engine, Danger Close believes that Warfighter has a different feel. He explained, “I think we have our own signature look; I think it looks a lot different from Battlefield even though it’s on the same engine. It’s more intimate, but we still have some of the same elements that they have like the micro-destruction and the amazing lighting.”

Farrelly went on to note that both Danger Close and DICE have a common goal in optimizing the Frostbite 2 engine, “we work very closely with the Frostbite team – we’re all in the same boat. We’re helping to make it a better engine on our end as they are. We work very closely with them and as I said, we’ve got some former members of DICE working with us.” He went on to praise Frostbite 2 for being “platform agnostic.” He elaborated, “you make one game and then you play to each of the platforms’ strengths. On PC you have the high res textures… it looks like a proper PC game.”

Farrelly is eager to build Medal of Honor 2010’s success, not Battlefield 3’s. When asked on whether Warfighter can build on Battlefield 3’s success, he pointed out, “I think we’re in for the long game. We came out with Medal of Honor 2010 and it shattered records for the franchise, it’s moved something like 6 million units sold through, which is far and above any numbers the franchise has done before. So for us it’s about keep building on that – we want to do more this time and then we want to do more the next time around, just as Battlefield has done building from 1942 to where they are now.” It’s worth noting that Battlefield 3 sold over 10 million copies.

What do you think of the Blue on Blue playlist? Let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to read the latest Warfighter news here.

DICE: “We Can See The Need and Urge For More” Close Quarters Maps

DICE has been in the crosshairs of a number of upset fans lately. Why you ask? Reading the comment section of most articles pertaining to the upcoming Battlefield 3 DLC, Close Quarters, will tell you that there are those Battlefielders who aren’t too happy with the direction DICE is taking this time around. Tight, infantry-based combat, admittedly, isn’t what the Battlefield franchise has become all that known for and there are those that will express feelings of betrayal.

But as it turns out, DICE expected this from the beginning. It also turns out that things aren’t quite what they seem. Comments and forums would have you believe that this close quarters, team deathmatch-based gameplay is an unwelcome addition to the franchise when according to DICE’s stats, there actually is “the need and the urge for more of these maps.”

Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE General Manager, recently told games.on.net, “well there’s going to be people that like it and people that don’t like it. We know that.” He added that “the Battlefield experience is so wide these days that if we do something over here then the people over there don’t like it, thanks just the sheer variety of the system we’ve created.” DICE knows fully well that “there’s always two sides to the story here.” Troedsson stressed, “so we are trying to embrace this fact because we want to do these thematic packs and that’s why we decided that pack number two, which is ‘Close Quarters’ will be something for that end of the spectrum, that people who like to play like this.” He would also like fans to keep in mind, “on the other hand the pack coming out after that, ‘Armored Kill‘ will be something for the other side of the spectrum, which is for the people who love vehicles and all of that. We’d rather do something like that instead of trying to get everything into every pack because we are just going to fail at that.”

Similarily, DICE Executive Producer Batrick Bach told Vox Games, “I’m sure that fans will raise an eyebrow or two when they see this pack, because it’s not what people expect when they hear Battlefield.” However, what some fans may not know is that “playing Team Deathmatch, in Battlefield, on our tight infantry maps that we had in the vanilla Battlefield 3, they are really, really popular. We can see the need and the urge for more of these maps,” according to Bach.

Speaking with Aus Gamers, Bach mentioned, “we actually saw people playing — in Battlefield 3 — the really tight, close quarters maps that had in the original game. You know, like Operation Metro, you have all the tight sections, and people love that. It’s like ‘wow, that’s something we haven’t [fully] explored before’, you know, so what we did was we said ‘Okay so if we’re going to do this, let’s do it right, let’s put all the effort into creating these super close quarters maps’.”

Of course, there are those that will accuse DICE of having to resort to “copying” Call of Duty’s gameplay in order to be successful. To this, Lead Gameplay Designer Alan Kertz had this to say on Twitter: “Success is a variable target. There is clearly a group of Battlefield players who enjoy CQB, including us in the office.” Some will argue that DICE should focus on building more open maps, to which Kertz responds, “…there are clearly more open maps than CQB. We need to close that gap first, then build open maps.” He put it best when responding to those upset about map sizes: “Battlefield is more than the size of the maps, the vehicles, the team play, and kits. It’s a sum.”

As always, leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Battlefield Subscription Based Service on the Horizon? The Future of Battlelog

When normal people think of 2012, the end of the world, they think of a deteriorating global economy, comets crashing into earth, tectonic plates shifting and devastating tsunamis. When gamers think of 2012, they think of subscription based services.

Well, not really. But many gamers do view these “services” as ways to simply milk a franchise dry. Whether you like it or not, it does make publishers money and EA is no different. That’s why a subscription based service for DICE’s Battlefield 3 might be more probable than you think.

Recently, VentureBeat asked Head of EA Games Label Patrick Soderlund this simple question: “Do you think you’ll eventually get to a subscription type of model? And do you also think you’re going to take down Call of Duty?” Soderlund admitted, “I think it’s fair to say that we’re looking at that. Like all other companies, we’re looking at how we can maximize our investment in this and get the most out of our investment and get more people playing this product. That may take us to different places, but we’re not really talking about where that is yet.”

At a later point in the interview, Soderlund explained that “EA sees Battlefield as ‘a 24/7 service.’ We have people… that are on this every single hour of every single day. 365 days a year.”

Soderlund had a more humble approach to the latter part of the question: “When it comes to taking Call of Duty down, you know what? I don’t look at it like that. We are in this business because we want to make the best possible products. Call of Duty is a shooter, but it’s a different shooter. And I think they have a market; we have a market. I’m fine with what I’m doing. I’m going to continue innovating and doing as best as I can with my teams. Hopefully that’s going to lead us to more units [sold] and more happy consumers.”

Do you think Battlefield 3 fans will be seeing a subscription based service for their favorite game in the near future? What services do you think EA could provide? Chances are it might have something to do with the Battlelog as DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach recently spoke to PCGamer about its success and its future.

“We honestly believe this is the right way forward,” stated Bach. The Battlelog, a different approach to server browsing, wasn’t welcomed all that warmly in the beginning. However, he explains that “when people got used to [server browsing], they stopped talking about it and it just went quiet. The people who started really really aggressive started to fade. Either they don’t bother complaining anymore, or they just accepted it.”

Most likely, DICE will be sticking to this system for future titles, or at least a variation of it. Perhaps this could somehow tie in with subscription based services, much like Call of Duty’s Elite service?

Leave your thoughts in the comments below? Yay or nay to subscription based services? Do you believe they add value to a game, or are they just a way to run gamers’ wallets dry?

Beachhead is “Still Working on” a PC Version of Call of Duty Elite, Tablet App Won’t Be a Port

With Beachhead studios hard at work on Elite 2.0, which is being prepped for this year’s Call of Duty, a PC version of the service hasn’t been forgotten.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Activision’s Noah Heller reassured, “unfortunately I don’t have an update for you at this time. We’re still working on it. We can’t date it yet. It’s a challenging piece of development. It’s really all I can say.” On a personal note, he said “back in the day I was a PC gamer myself. I cut my teeth on shooters on good, old fashioned Team Fortress 1. So I’m excited to do right by the PC players soon.”

Heller reiterated, “unfortunately I can’t give you a date at this time – look, it bums me out to say it.” Then, he went on to explain that the Call of Duty PC community has been vocal regarding the issue. He stated, “I get several emails a day. It’s a vocal, passionate audience. What we need to ensure is that when we ship something for them, it’s quality. We cannot make them wait this long and then deliver something that isn’t quality.”

Last year, Beachhead studios explained that “the [PC] platform results in a lot of difficulties when it comes to competition and statistics. This is especially true due to the dedicated server support — something the community really wanted.” They continued, “please realize that this is the side effect to the many benefits you get from playing on that platform.”

On the topic of a tablet version of the Elite app, which is available on both Android and iPhone , Heller promised, “we’re working hard right now on the tablet application. I can’t date it for you guys yet, but I’ll tell you it’s not a port. It’s built specifically for that platform, and built with this two screen idea in mind, the idea people are going to be playing the game and might have this on their lap, to check with their friends to see what their progress is like in real-time.”

Thanks, VG247

More Clues to a Battlefield 3 Battlerecorder Surface

Today, we have gathered two exciting clues that strongly suggest a Battlefield 3 Battlerecorder exists… somewhere.

By now, many of you have seen the reveal trailer for DICE’s upcoming DLC, Close Quarters, titled “Ziba Tower.” If not, you can check it out right here. When Roland Smedberg, Senior Video Director at DICE, was asked via Twitter how the recent trailer was edited. He answered, “It’s a mix of Frostbite editor, Battlerecorder and straight up 1p capture.” Did he just say Battlerecorder?

Additionally, in the latest issue of Inside DICE, you will notice a poll at the bottom of the page asking this question: “What are you most looking forward to in [the Close Quarters] expansion pack?” The possible answers included:

  • Blowing a hole in a wall and shooting enemies on the other side
  • Walking outside on the roof, shooting the glass in the ceiling and dropping down into the room below
  • Room sweeping with my shotgun
  • Creating my own HD Destruction timelapse video

Take a good look at the last answer. If this poll is directed towards the general public, including console gamers, why would DICE assume that all Battlefield 3 players have the ability to create their own “HD Destruction timelapse video” without knowing whether or not anyone owns video recording software in the first place? Not only this, but in order to create a timelapse video, a player would need to stay still for an entire match ‘without getting killed’ in order to capture from a first-person view. How else could players capture third-person footage but with some sort of recorder?

If these clues are to be heeded, it smells like DICE has got ‘something’ cooking in the oven. After all, a Battlerecorder has been in talks for quite some time now.

What do you think?

Make sure to read about a new game mode that will be introduced in Battlefield 3: Close Quarters!

But before we get the the stats, BioWare’s very own Senior Combat Designer Corey Gaspur and Gameplay Designer Eric Fagnan recently discussed the various classes of Mass Effect 3 and how they can be effectively utilized in ME3’s multiplayer. Check out the video below!

We now know what ME3 fans are up to thanks to the recently released statistics on Mass Effect’s official Facebook page. Click on the image below for the full size. Looks like those “going for the gold” need to step their game up!

Lastly, ME3 MP fans are in for a bit of a “community” treat this weekend as BioWare will be will be commencing Operation Goliath. Well, Xbox 360 and PC fans, at least, as this challenge currently cannot be extended to PS3 users. In fact, this community, or “N7” challenge, began earlier today (Friday the 16th) and will continue until the 18th of March. So get crackin’! The challenge and rewards are as follows:

Originally only available as single-player weapons via the N7 Collector’s Edition, these multiplayer variants will be exceptionally rare and are NOT obtainable through regular purchasable Reinforcement Packs.   The Commendation Packs will contain one of the following guns at random: N7 Crusader Shotgun, N7 Eagle Pistol, N7 Hurricane SMG, and N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle.

Additionally, “if the multiplayer community kills a combined 1 MILLION brutes within the hours of the challenge, ALL players will receive a Victory Pack as a reward.”

BF3 Close Quarters Will Introduce New Game Mode: Conquest Domination, No Rush?

Earlier, we reported that Battlefield 3: Close Quarters would feature the classic game modes of Rush and Conquest. As it turns out, it looks like this won’t be the case after all. Rush fans will have to look elsewhere while fans of Conquest can look forward to a slight variation of the game type we all know and love.

In the latest entry to the Inside DICE series, Lead Designer of Close Quarters Niklas Fegraeus explains that “while HD Destruction has a significant impact on how you experience the second-to-second gameplay, we also had to tackle the challenges of bringing our tried and tested game modes to the smaller scale. We understood quickly that Rush, being a large and progressive mode that takes you on a journey from M-COM to M-COM, simply wouldn’t fit physically. So instead, we turned our attention to Conquest. How could we tailor this essential Battlefield game mode to fit our new type of environment?”

This would obviously mean tailoring Conquest to a much smaller space. Now, before you start screaming accusations of DICE imitating Call of Duty’s Domination game mode, Fegraeus would like fans to know, “I spoke to my Game Designer Gustav Halling who, like me, has a history of competitive FPS gaming. We remembered Unreal Tournament from way back in 1999. It was the first time the world saw the game mode “Domination”, which is very similar to Conquest. There are some differences though, and the Domination type gameplay usually takes place on smaller maps, much like the ones we were creating.”

He elaborated, “inspired by these memories, we used the spawning systems from Battlefield 3 Team Deathmatch and came up with a Conquest mode adapted for smaller spaces. We called it Conquest Domination, and it worked beautifully. In particular, flag defense is suddenly more important, and you get different tactical layers due to the subtle differences the new mode provides.”

Fegraeus also spoke of the inspiration that went into the creation of Close Quarters: “I sat down and spoke with Jhony Ljungstedt, my art director, and had a discussion about how we could achieve this. After bouncing random ideas for a while, he told me that even though that explosive scene from “The Matrix” was rather old, seeing Neo and Trinity turn a lobby into rubble in slow motion did leave a huge impression, and hadn’t ever been properly done in a game. We both agreed and Jhony said he really wanted to be able to create that sensation.”

Since many process heavy elements like vehicles were removed from the equation, and environments and player counts had shrunk, DICE was able to push Frostbite 2 a little further this time around. Hence, the birth of HD destruction. Fegraeus explains, “I wanted to see if we could destroy things in greater detail. I wanted everything to get shot to pieces. Really, really small pieces. In short, I wanted destruction to go High Definition.”

Included in this edition of Inside DICE was footage of an early playtest that nicely shows off some of the HD destruction effects. Make sure to check it out below.

BF3 Armored Kill Will Have The “Best Vehicle Experience,” Where’s The Tutorial Mode?

By now, many of you know that Armored Kill, Battlefield 3’s third DLC entry after the upcoming Close Quarters and the previously released Back to Karkand, is said to boast the largest map in Battlefield 3 history. Exactly how big might this map be, you ask?

“I actually don’t know the kilometer size of it, but it’s going to be big,” General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson told Kotaku in a recent preview. Of course, Armored Kill isn’t going to feature large maps just for the sake including of large maps. DICE also promises spectacular vehicular warfare. Troedsson explains, “it’s not a goal, per se, to make the biggest maps. We were doing some prototyping of these maps now and [wondered] how much vehicle force could we put in there? When you do that, we started to grow the map. And, at some point, we just realized that this is the biggest map that we have ever done, which of course makes it a cool thing you can talk about. But the focus is to create the best vehicle experience we’ve ever done on maps.”

If you haven’t yet, make sure to check out the debut trailer of Close Quarters, set to release this June.

Troedsson also spoke about the lack of any sort of training or tutorial mode in Battlefield 3. “I’m afraid it’s one of those things that, in the end, when push comes to shove, gets cut,” he told Kotaku. However, he admitted, “I agree 100%: We need to teach our players better. It’s just one of those things… [We think]: ‘Well, our players know how to play it.’ Not all of them, especially now when we’re getting more and more players in. So it’s definitely something that’s on our radar that we want to fix.”

Would you have appreciated some sort of tutorial mode in Battlefield 3? Are you more excited for Armored Kill than Close Quarters? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Nexuiz Review: A Fresh Take on Classic Arena Shooters

In a sea of first-person shooters, Nexuiz presents itself as a fresh yet very familiar take on the genre. Illfonic studios returns to the classic, arena-style, twitch-based gameplay that all FPS fans know and love. Based on a popular Quake mod of the same name released in 2005, Nexuiz provides simple, fun, and fast-paced FPS action without the complications or intricacies of modern shooters. This is pure, classic FPS gameplay but with a twist to keep players on the edge of their seat.

The best way I could describe Nexuiz’s gameplay is a mix of Unreal Tournament and Mario Kart. It’s childish fun, but for grown-ups. It shines in its simplicity. Players can run, jump, shoot and melee. No aiming down sight, no reloading, no cover, no sprinting or going prone. However, player movement is smooth and frictionless. The twist lies in the inclusion of “Mutators.” These mutators are game changers – random pick-ups scattered among the 9 maps included in Nexuiz. Upon running over one of these bright yellow, red and blue orb, players will then have a chance to select one of three randomly generated mutators. There are over 100 of these that can change the gameplay in minor, drastic or absurd ways. There are those that assist your team like regenerating health, infinita ammo, or weapon upgrades; those that effect the opposing team like inverted controls or slowed fire-rate; and then there are those that are just plain silly. Tip: If you see a giant whale floating in the sky, shoot it. I’ll leave you to explore the possibilities. It is possible to influence the roll of the dice in terms of what Mutators you acquire by adding “pips” to your favorite mutators in the Career menu. Pips are earned through points accumulated in-game and can be allocated to the Mutators you’d like to see pop up most often. Also keep an eye out for green gems that build up your shield and strength pick-ups that double your damage output.

Visually, Nexuiz is a real treat for the eyes, especially for a downloadable arcade title. The CryEngine 3 provides large, yet highly detailed and lush environments that would allow one to easily get lost in the sights. The flashy colors, explosions and pick-ups can give Nexuiz that addicting arcade-like feel while the bassy techno music will get players pumped for the combat. Though it looks easily comparable, Halo this is not.

Nexuiz: Achieved with CryEngine 3

The 9 weapons range from your default shotgun, to good-old rocket launchers, sniper rifles and other bizarre, sci-fi contraptions. Each weapon has a primary and secondary function which can be experimented with for maximum effectiveness. Controls are extremely fluid and very customizable should you feel the default set-up isn’t to your liking. Aiming sensitivity on both the X and Y axis can be precisely tweaked to your preference. Maps and weapon pick-ups are balanced and designed for competitive 4 on 4 gameplay. However, they are also only built for two game modes; 6 for Team Deathmatch and 3 for Capture-the-Flag. Unless these maps become die-hard classics, this could possibly detract from Nexuiz’s longevity. It would be nice to see some new and unique game modes added in the future for variety sake.

Matchmaking can be a bit messy at times. Quick match is pretty simple to start up but can sometimes drag on trying to find the appropriate number of players. 8 (4 vs 4) is ideal, but sometimes it will settle for 6 (3 vs 3). Thankfully, Illfonic made inviting friends only a button away. The big issue, however, becomes apparent when players drop out part-way through a match. Nexuiz won’t find other player to fill empty spots or substitute with bots. This can result in very one-sided matches, making things rather frustrating. I could imagine playing with a group of friends would provide loads of good fun. Also, the sheer number of mutators alone begs for in-depth match customization. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. The uncountable number of possible combinations could have lead to an insane amount of replayability. Leaderboards provide highly detailed player cards so you can keep close eyes on your friends and foes, including your own. The inclusion of a player’s kill-to-death ratio directly beneath their name in matchmaking makes it easy to see who to stay away from and who to pick on.

Sci-fi Sniper Rifle. Say Goodbye.

Believe it or not, Nexuiz actually includes a backstory behind the mindless shooting. The Kavussari and Forsellians, two warring nations set in a futuristic, sci-fi universe, agree to a truce for the sake of galactic peace. However, due to their passionate, undying hatred towards eachother, they have agreed to continue feeding their thirst for deadly combat across various Victorian-style arenas. As entertainment, these battles are broadcasted galaxy-wide and have become known as the Nexuiz Competition.

In all, Nexuiz is a very solid attempt to bring back the carefree fun of arena shooters, something that I think many FPS fans will welcome with open arms. I see a lot of potential if Illfonic can expand with new game modes, customizable matches and improve matchmaking. For it’s price of roughly $10.00, Nexuiz is a vibrant entry to the current palette of shooters on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, providing something new yet rooted in the classics.

What’s your take on Illfonic’s Nexuiz? Let me know in the comments below!
