Cricket 24 Update 1.12 Released for Major Bug Fixes

Big Ant Studios has released Cricket 24 update 1.12 and this patch comes with some major bug fixes. Make sure to update your game ASAP if you want to have a smooth experience. Check out the Cricket 24 November 14 patch notes.

Cricket 24 Update 1.12 Patch Notes | Cricket 24 November 14 Patch Notes:

Balanced AI run-out frequency

  • Changes to fielding in previous updates exposed issues with AI selecting to run, this patch addresses this by improving the calculations used to determine run risk, as well as adjusting the ability for AI-controlled fielders to make direct hits from the outfield, and increasing run risk based on the AI fielders throwing skills.

Improved slips catching

  • The wicketkeeper took too many catches that were expected for slips, this has been adjusted to give the slips a better chance.

Improved fielding

  • General fielding has been improved with changes to reduce cases of ‘side step’ movements and to make better attempts at getting to the ball.

Improved animations

  • The changes made to fielding and running were partially implemented by improving some animation, for example, reducing cases where players would slide incorrectly.

Corrected career skill growth

  • An issue with the processing of proficiency data in career led to the stars being incorrectly calculated, resulting in always being displayed as 0 stars.

Corrected various player data

  • A number of players have had their allocated bats updated, as well as other corrections to batting handedness and bowling styles.

Improved Stability
Thanks to all the users who have given us support tickets as well as sending through error reports on consoles we have been able to identify the causes of a number of crashes and address them in this patch.
This includes resolving an issue while completing a draft in The Hundred mode, as well as resolving an issue while attempting to load an online co-op saved game.

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Goes Gold, Out December 7

This 2023 has been an absolute banger of a year, and yet, surprisingly, despite only a little over a month left before the following year, it still has plenty left to give. December 7 marks the airing date of The Game Awards show, but one final triple-A is dropping the same day. That title? Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. Some have speculated that it might receive a last-minute delay, but Massive Entertainment has put those worries to rest, as Avatar Frontiers of Pandora has officially gone gold.

The big announcement comes from the game’s official X account, confirming that it’s ready for its December 7 launch.

“We are extremely proud to share that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has gone GOLD! We can’t wait for you all to explore the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger. The game is out December 7.”

Fantastic news!

As a reminder, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora will feature full cooperative play, allowing players to start the story with another friend and play from start to finish with drop-in co-op support. It’ll also feature shared progression, meaning as long as both players are at the same point in the story, the campaign’s progress will be saved for both players. Big news for all you co-op players out there, especially given Ubisoft’s history of games with co-op campaigns (looking at you, Farcry) not having shared progression.

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora launches December 7 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Modern Warfare 3 Best Guns: Top Ten Meta Weapons for the Pre-Season

With Modern Warfare 3 fresh out of the oven, players are wondering what weapons to use. We’ve got a list of the top ten most effective guns in the game right now, ranging across all weapon types.

These weapons were all carefully compared by the lovely team over at WarzoneLoadouts, but we tested each of these ourselves to make sure they felt good. Here’s the top ten meta weapons right now:

Modern Warfare 3 Best Guns (Pre-Season):

10. WSP Swarm (SMG)

This SMG is quick-firing and has a pretty low TTK, but its short range keeps it from being closer to the top of our list. Still, if mobility is your thing, this gun will work well in a loadout for you.

Here are the recommended attachments:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor S
  • Stock: FSS Fortress Heavy
  • Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: Marauder Grip

9. Striker (SMG)

The Striker can be a really balanced SMG with pretty solid range when equipped right. Its recoil isn’t too bad, either, and it feels good to use. All in all, it’s just a solid all-rounder for those that like SMGs over ARs.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor S
  • Barrel: Striker Recon Long
  • Stock: RB Crotalus Assault
  • Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop
  • Magazine: 48 Round Mag

8. Holger 26 (LMG)

The Holger 26 stands out among the LMGs because it can be built with enough mobility to compare to the slower ARs. While it does have a recoil problem at longer ranges, mounting with this gun and holding a corner will net you plenty of kills, especially with the quicker reload of a smaller magazine.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor
  • Barrel: Holger Factory
  • Stock: Holger 556 Factory
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag

7. MCW (Assault Rifle)

Like the Striker, the MCW’s best feature is that it feels like butter when you use it. It has pretty minimal recoil, even with no attachments, making it sort of a laser to use. While it’s been nerfed a little since the beta, it still holds up as a great gun to use.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor
  • Barrel: Second Line Mammoth Heavy
  • Stock: A90 Venom
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag

6. Striker 9 (SMG)

The Striker 9 is a faster version of the Striker that trades recoil stability and accuracy for fire rate and an ever-so-slight damage boost. It’s much worse at longer ranges than its cousin, but up close, it shreds.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor S
  • Barrel: Striker Recon Long
  • Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip

5. SVA 545 (Assault Rifle)

The SVA 545 absolutely melts enemies at close range. Its long range recoil is a little bit unwieldy when firing full auto, but its damage is still not bad, so it can work at longer distances as well. All in all, it’s a very solid gun.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor S
  • Optic: Mk. 3 Reflector
  • Stock: Mane V6
  • Underbarrel: Chewk Angled Grip
  • Magazine: 45 Round Mag

4. BAS-B (Battle Rifle)

The BAS-B is a little slower than most assault rifles, but its unparalleled low recoil and high damage output make it really effective in the field. Additionally, it’s got a pretty good build in one of the default loadouts, making it easy to level up fast. All in all, this is probably the best gun to start with, even if it isn’t at the top of the meta.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor
  • Barrel: Wyvern’s Respite Long
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
  • Magazine: 45 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: STT88 Grip

3. Rival-9 (SMG)

The Rival-9 is okay on its own, but with the proper build, it’s the best SMG in the game right now. It has a high fire rate and a high damage output, making it the optimal weapon for close range encounters.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor S
  • Stock: EXF Close Quarters Assault
  • Underbarrel: Chewk Angled Grip
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: Rival Vice Assault Grip

2. Longbow (Sniper)

The Longbow is an absolute sniping machine with the right attachments. It’s not bad on its own, but you throw on a 10 Round Mag and some ADS speed attachments, and suddenly the speed with which you’re clicking on enemies’ heads is blinding. For good old quickscoping fun, there’s no better option.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Barrel: Pro-99 Long
  • Stock: No Stock (NOTE: This IS an attachment, not an empty slot!)
  • Magazine: 10 Round Mag
  • Ammunition: 7.62x54MMR High Grain Rounds
  • Rear Grip: Demo 650

1. Holger 556 (Assault Rifle)

As of right now, the Holger 556 takes the cake for the best gun in MW3. It can kill in just two headshots or three body shots from an absurdly long range, and its high rate of fire and low recoil only make it that much more useful. The sooner you get this gun and its ideal attachments into your hands, the better.

Here’s the recommended loadout:

  • Muzzle: Shadowstrike Suppressor
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Stock: RB Addle Assault Stock
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag

These are the top ten guns to be using in Modern Warfare 3 right now. As always, we recommend finding what feels best for you and using that above all else, but if you need a little guidance, these guns are tough to beat.

For more MW3 news, check out our guide on the best console settings to optimize your gameplay. Expect our review to hit the site soon.

Thanks to WarzoneLoadout for these fantastic stats and builds!

Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League Gameplay and Story Deep Dive Arriving This Week

After months since the delay, Rocksteady is finally giving an update on Suicide Squad Kill The Justice, with a new web series dubbed “Suicide Squad Insider,” debuting this Wednesday that’ll focus on the story and gameplay of Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League.

The first episode of Suicide Squad Insider will premiere this Wednesday, November 15, focusing on Suicide Squad Kill The Justice gameplay and story.

https://twitter.com/suicidesquadRS/status/1724125055544889829

The episode will premier on Youtube at 10 am PST on November 15.

It will be a very interesting showcase, as the game was originally delayed following the poor reception around the GAAS-like mechanics during the State of Play. It was supposed to be released in May of this year but was postponed to February 2024, giving it an additional 8 months of development time. How Rocksteady has used that time remains to be seen, but hopefully, it addresses what the community didn’t like about it during the last showing.

We don’t expect the game to be drastically different from what was shown before, as many of the core mechanics, such as cooperative play and the gear system are features that the game had been built around entirely. Still, we’ve been surprised before,  so we’ll be tuning in this Wednesday for the episode and have coverage and a roundup of all the information revealed during it afterward, so check back in!

Suicide Squad Kill The Justice launches on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 2, 2024.

Resident Evil 4 Update 1.11 Creeps Out This November 13

Capcom has snuck out Resident Evil 4 update 1.11 (those on PS5 will see the Separate Ways DLC be updated to 1.000.001), and is an unannounced patch, which means we shouldn’t expect much, as this is primarily for bug fixes more than anything else.

Resident Evil 4 Update 1.11 Patch Notes:

Capcom hasn’t shared anything official yet and even the official Resident Evil Twitter account hasn’t mentioned that a patch is incoming. The PS4 update history has the following changelog:

  • – Miscellaneous bug fixes have been made.

That’s about it, which is kind of vague. There is the major accomplishment of the game winning PlayStation Game of the Year at the Golden Joysticks:

Other than that, nothing has been shared so far. We’re on the lookout for the community as well, and if they see any changes, we’ll update the article to reflect it.

Refresh this article from time to time, as we’ll be adding info once we find any.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora PS5 Trailer Shows Off Immersive Features

A new Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora PS5 trailer just released this morning, and it shows off the game’s immersive features on the PlayStation console. The game utilizes haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and more to give the player a more compelling experience, whether they play alone or with a friend.

You can watch the new trailer below:

As the video reveals, the game will feature full support for 3D audio, meaning players with compatible headsets will be able to hear the entire planet breathe around them. Haptic feedback will also enhance the experience. In the trailer, we see the controller rumble in time with a mount’s steps, vibrate as the player slides, and even provide a hefty shake when the player launches themselves into the air.

Adaptive triggers will also add a level of immersion to the experience. When firing weapons, the triggers will react accordingly to create a more realistic feeling for shooting, whether it be guns or bows. The extra resistance of a bowstring always feels cool on the Dualsense.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launches on December 7 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Remedy Introduces Project Kestrel, a Premium Co-Op Reboot of Their Free-to-Play Project Vanguard

Shortly following the release of Alan Wake 2, Remedy has shared more plans on their future projects. Project Vanguard, one of their many previously announced projects, has been renamed to Project Kestrel to signify a change in its goal and structure as production reboots.

This news comes from a press release posted by Remedy this morning. In the press release, the company announced their plans to shift the project from a free-to-play cooperative game to a “premium” game with a “strong, cooperative multiplayer component.”

The project, which recently finished its proof-of-concept stage, is rebooting as a result of evaluation from both Remedy and their publisher Tencent. Following the direction change, the project will return to the concept stage as the team plans to change their aims for the game.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala also commented on the project in the press release:

We have made some great strides in free-to-play and multiplayer development in Vanguard. After a lot of careful consideration, we believe that taking on a new direction where the game will be built more around Remedy’s core competences is the right way to go. We are creating another distinct Remedy game with Tencent’s continued support in making a great cooperative multiplayer experience.

All in all, this is probably a better move for the team. They want to stick to what they know best, and this is a good way to do that. Many games that have pursued the free-to-play model in the last few years have shut down, and with Remedy’s continued success, it would be a shame for them to try and fail the free-to-play model. Hopefully, this shift will ensure we get a quality product from a quality team.

In terms of their other upcoming content, Remedy also shared their plans for Alan Wake 2’s eventual free DLC. You can read about that here.

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth ESRB Rating Mentions “Deep Cleavage,” “Pools of Blood” and More

The official Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth ESRB rating has just surfaced today! The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has given a “T” rating for the upcoming Square-Enix RPG, along with the summary. which mentions not just violence, but suggestive themes, too.

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth ESRB Rating and Summary:

Rated “T” for Teen due to Blood, Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol and Tobacco, Violence.

Rating Summary

This is an action role-playing game in which players follow the story of a mercenary (Cloud Strife) on a quest to save the planet from evil. Players explore fantasy landscapes, perform missions, and battle monsters and soldiers in frenetic melee combat. Characters use swords, staffs, guns, and magic spells to fight monsters and human soldiers; combat is highlighted by impact sounds, cries of pain, and explosions. Cutscenes depict further instances of violence, sometimes with splatters/pools of blood: characters impaled or slashed by swords, sometimes with slow-motion effects; an assassin throwing a spinning blade at a targeted figure; characters shot by soldiers. Some female characters are designed with revealing outfits (e.g., deep cleavage); suggestive dialogue sometimes accompanies camera panning/close-ups of characters’ bodies/outfits (e.g., “Just admit it. You’re obviously captivated by my bodacious beach bod.”). The game contains some alcohol content: as Cloud, players can drink a version of moonshine while at a bar; cutscenes sometimes feature drunk characters slurring their speech. A handful of scenes depict characters smoking cigars or out of hookahs. The words “sh*t,” “a*shole,” and “pr*ck” appear in the game.

As you can see, players can expect to see a “deep cleavage” appear in the game, which I gather might come from Tifa Lockhart. Another thing surprising is the “pools of blood” mention, given the franchise isn’t really known to show us any of that crimson stuff.

For the latest look at FF7: Rebirth, check out oodles of gameplay here.

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth will be released this February 29, 2024 exclusively on the PS5.

Yep, that’s about it. Of course, this doesn’t mean the devs are done fixing and optimizing the game just yet, as there are still a number of game-affecting bugs. However, even with those, it’s still a topnotch experience, as we’ve included it in our The Game Awards potential list of nominees and winners.

Speaking of bugs, patch version 1.00.10 included over 100 gameplay fixes, which include fixing critical blocking progress for Scratch (A New Plan) mission and more. You can read up about it here.

Modern Warfare 3: How to Get the MCW Early and Other Guns and Items Without Grinding

Modern Warfare 3 has a ton of weapons that are gated behind leveling up, something that can be a grindy process for players who just want to use their favorite weapons, such as the MCW. Luckily, there’s an easy method to unlock the endgame weapons with little to no effort! Here’s how to Get the MCW early and other guns and items without grinding in Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3: How to Get the MCW Early and Other Guns Without Grinding

The process of unlocking any weapon is pretty simple, as all you have to do is boot into Zombie and exfil. Any weapon you have equipped will automatically be unlocked, and since the MCW is the default loadout you launch with, you can unlock this gun in a matter of minutes rather than grind it out to level 44.

Now, if you’re going to do this, I recommend either doing it with a group of friends or soloing it. To launch into a zombie lobby is a solo squad, before you click “Find Match” below, you should see the “Squad Fill” option. Push the corresponding button, putting you in a solo squad.

As mentioned, the default loadout will have the MCW, as well as the Lockwood 680. If not (due to a potential update that is spawning people without loadouts) then look around buildings, check walls, chests, ect.

Once you are in, wait for the Exfil to become available. Should only take a couple of minutes. They are marked on the map as a person exiting a door, and in the field, there is green smoke rising out of the ground. Go to one of these spots and call the helicopter to begin the exfil.

You’ll need to define the zone from zombies until the helicopter arrives. Once it does, hop on, and wait for it to take off.

Congrats, you now have the MCW unlocked and the Lockwood 680. You can do this at any level, which is far faster than grinding to level 44.

This method works on ANY items you can pick up in Zombie mode, bypassing any unlock prerequisites. You can do this with killstreaks, lethal weapons, etc., just as long as they are in your equipment slot, as they will not unlock if they are in Rucksack. They have to be equipped to unlock them.

This is by far the fastest method to unlock items in Modern Warfare 3, which, for those who remember playing Modern Warfare 2, is the same method used during DMZ. That’s not surprising, considering Zombie mode is practically a reskinned DMZ.

That’s all there is to it! Hope this guide has helped out, and if so, then you may want to check out our other Modern Warfare 3 guides. We’ll be updating this page with more weapon guides, tips and tricks, and more throughout the week.

Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace Announced; Beta Registration Starts Today

The Rainbow Six Siege team is finally giving players an official way to buy and sell skins between other players, as they’ve announced the official Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace, with beta registration now open.

There are few details on the Rainbow Six Siege marketplace, the biggest being that it’ll use R6 Credits as its main currency. Additionally, as noted, players can buy and sell skins, including those from old seasons. That means if there was a skin a few seasons back that you couldn’t get, well, now you’ll have that opportunity. The marketplace will be available through PC and mobile, which is expected to go live this season.

It’ll kick off as a beta, with registration opening up today. Players can register via this link: https://rainbow6.com/marketplace/register

Ubisoft has said that the beta will run through Year 8, fully expecting its launch to arrive during Year 9.

All we can say is it’s about time there’s an official market, though the question will remain how players will take to it, especially since it’s locked to using R6 Credits. Either way, this is a great new feature that we cannot wait to see grow in the coming seasons.

New Ranked Map – Lair

Competition heats up this season with the new Ranked map Lair. Lair is the base of operations for Deimos, and the map is designed for players to experiment with different playstyles as they navigate its multiple entrances and three floors. Each floor has a distinct mood and the exterior has unique entry points to all three floors. Just as Deimos created this facility to calculate his operations against Rainbow, players can strategize their navigation of Lair for success during matches.

Player Protection

Player protection efforts continue to grow with a Reputation System update, providing more information on what impacts player standing. This season introduces the Grace Period phase where players will be onboarded, learn more about player standing, and give everyone a chance to improve their standing without any penalties before the Reputation System fully launches. This builds on the Commendation System, which allows players to commend each other after a match and rewards players with increased Alpha Pack drop rates. Balancing – Frag Grenade Update

Lion: Frag Added, Gonne-6 & EMP Removed – The Team understands this combination can be overpowered but believes they can be incredibly fun. Doesn’t see it as being as strong as they are predicting.

Sens: Frags Added. Gonne-6 removed.

Osa: Frags Added. Smokes removed,

Blackbeard: Frags added. EMP removed.

Rainbow Six Seige Marketplace Beta

A marketplace for Rainbow Six Seige is arriving in Year 9, but before it does, the team will be hosting beta testing.

New Onboarding Features

Versus AI Play – Players will soon be able to compete against defender AI operators to learn and practice with friends. The AI is designed to emulate how players play the game, with two difficulty levels, beginner and advanced.

Map Run – This tool allows players to learn maps, focusing on how to navigate the maps. Map training tools will include landmark and target drills. In Landmark Drill, random landmarks will be placed with the goal of finding them. Target Drills will have dummies that you can turn on and off, with the same idea of Landmakr Drill but for a specific target.

Situation and Training Runs (and Terrorist Hunt) are being REMOVED from the game. Ubisoft says it was a very difficult decision, but the team feels the new AI plays and future updates will bring better training that will be closer to how the game plays.

Controller Improvements Part 1

  • Full controller remapping is coming in Y8S4.
  • Stick Deadzone can be set to 0 now.
  • Hip leaning input features coming later this season.

Rainbow Six Siege Y8S4 launches on November 28 on all platforms. We’ll have the full patch notes available once they’ve been finalized the day before or on launch.

The Talos Principle 2 Update 2.003 Lasers Out for Nov. 11

Croteam has begun rolling out The Talos Principle 2 update 2.003 across all platforms. Read for what’s new in today’s The Talos Principle 2 update.

The Talos Principle 2 Update 2.003 Patch Notes | The Talos Principle 2 November 11 Patch Notes

Size: 360MB

At the time of writing, Croteam has yet to release any official notes, though based on the revision number, we assume this is the hotfix PC players got a few days ago.

  • Fixed the bug where the “HDR on” setting would not be properly applied on systems with 1 monitor connected.
  • Fixed the bug where the Prometheus Terminal inside a locked Gold puzzle remained usable in certain situations.
  • Fixed the bug where after unlocking a Gold puzzle by solving the last unsolved Main or Lost puzzle in the same world, the Progress Wheel of said Gold puzzle would remain non-interactable until the player re-started the level.
  • Fixed the bug where using the D-Pad of a gamepad while selecting Palm Reader documents or downloading a file could occasionally break player’s input or freeze the game

We’ll watch Croteam’s socials if they post anything related to this update. We do know from the PC hotfix that they were working on a larger update that was due in the coming weeks, though we’re unsure if this is that update.

Predicting The Game Awards 2023 Nominees and Winners

The Game Awards has quickly become a staple event for the industry. Geoff Keighley, host and organizer of The Game Awards, has steadily increased its popularity year over year, making it one of the biggest events to look forward to in gaming. Last year, it reached a total of 103 million live streams and is heralded as the Oscars of the gaming world.

There are always a host of new game announcements, celebrity guest appearances, and, of course, awards to give out each year. This year is no different, and the competition between games is as fierce as ever. The delays from COVID-19 have finally subsided, and the backlog of titles finally hitting the market this year means that it is going to be harder than ever to settle on a clear winner for many of the categories. While it would be fun to go through every single category, we have decided to cut a few to focus on the bigger ones. Here are our predictions for The Game Awards 2023 nominees and winners.

The Game Awards 2023 Predictions for Nominees and Winners:

Award for Best Game Direction

“Awarded For Outstanding Creative Vision And Innovation In Game Direction And Design.”

Nominees:

  • Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  • Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Sea of Stars
  • Final Fantasy XVI

Winner: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom – It is, without a doubt, that this game is more than deserving of the praise it has received over the past year. While the game is similar in many ways to its predecessor, the additions it makes to the core experience fundamentally change the interactivity in undeniable ways. The introduction and refinement of the tools at the player’s disposal are so hard to underestimate within this world. The ability to create your own solutions to problems and use completely outside-the-box thinking is a joy to explore. It is no wonder most players spend countless hours just toying with the game’s systems before even delving into the main story.

Award for Best Narrative

“For Outstanding Storytelling And Narrative Development In A Game.”

Nominees:

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Final Fantasy XVI
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Alan Wake 2 Review embargo

Winner: Alan Wake 2 – Remedy has built a reputation from its mind-melting stories intertwined with their unsettling worlds. Alan Wake 2 elevated everything that made the first game great and took the story even deeper than before. The survival horror aspect that bled into the game’s unsettling storytelling did wonders to cement its moment-to-moment gameplay beautifully. The new character introduced in this sequel, Saga Anderson, does a lot to keep the plot fresh and exciting, setting it leagues ahead of the first Alan Wake. It is no wonder that this game has resonated so strongly with players since its release and will likely continue for a very long time.

Award for Best Art Direction

“For Outstanding Creative and/or Technical Achievement In Artistic Design And Animation.”

Nominees:

  • Dead Space Remake
  • Final Fantasy XVI
  • Hi-Fi Rush
  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder
  • Solar Ash

dead space remake review

Winner: Dead Space Remake – EA Motive did a fantastic job recreating the terrifying world many of us remember falling in love with when the original Dead Space came out in 2008. Absolutely everything is beautifully crafted, and the attention to detail shines through in every way. Environments, weapons, and enemies are all animated with striking realism, which does so much to elevate its horror gameplay beyond expectations. While this may be a remake of an older game we have seen before, the difference between this and the original is more than substantial and sets a strong benchmark for how a remake should be handled.

Award for Best Score and Music

“For Outstanding Music, Inclusive Of Score, Original Song And/or Licensed Soundtrack.”

Nominees:

  • Hi-Fi Rush
  • Octopath Traveler II
  • Pizza Tower
  • Final Fantasy XVI
  • Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical

Winner: Hi-Fi Rush This was a particularly incredible year for music in games, making this category difficult to decide. Overall, Hi-Fi Rush does so much with the music it presents to the player that it is hard to ignore. Every single track’s themes and overall quality blend so well with the experience and gameplay it offers. You will find yourself tapping along while playing this game without even realizing it. This excellent experience is a must-play for anyone who can appreciate high-quality soundtracks.

Award for Best Audio Design

“Recognizing The Best In-game Audio And Sound Design.”

Nominees:

  • Resident Evil 4 Remake
  • Forza Motorsport
  • Dead Space Remake
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Winner: Resident Evil 4 Remake – Audio design in a game is challenging to get right. A lot of work goes on in the background that isn’t easily quantifiable—for example, getting the right music to ramp up while a tense moment plays out or making the simple act of reloading a gun satisfying every time you do it. Resident Evil 4 Remake nails all of these and then some. The sound design is a notch above astounding. Every element of it matches its tone and grounds the game in a believable yet horrifying way. While it isn’t an easy choice, Resident Evil 4 Remake takes the cake here with its phenomenal sound design.

Award for Best Performance

“Awarded To An Individual For Voice-over Acting, Motion And/or Performance Capture.”

Nominees:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Yuri Lowenthal
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Nadji Jeter
  • Final Fantasy XVI – Ben Starr
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Cameron Monaghan
  • Alan Wake 2 – Melanie Liburd

Winner: Yuri Lowenthal – The original Marvel’s Spider-Man had some hard-hitting moments thanks to Yuri Lowenthal and his wonderful performance. Without a doubt, Insomniac, the studio behind Marvel’s Spider-Man, has struck gold with Yuri, pushing the boundary even further with this title than ever before. Classic storylines and hard-hitting moments were delivered in every scene to create the ultimate Spider-Man experience that felt emotional and believable. Yuri was able to demonstrate masterful range and understanding of this character, and it shows every time he is on screen. He has done a fantastic job in the past, and this time around, he managed to fully encapsulate players again with his portrayal of both the lovable Spider-Man and the kind-hearted Peter Parker.

Award for Best Ongoing

“Awarded To A Game For Outstanding Development Of Ongoing Content That Evolves The Player Experience Over Time.”

Nominees:

  • Fortnite
  • Genshin Impact
  • Final Fantasy XIV
  • Apex Legends
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • Dead by Daylight

Winner: Fortnite – Fortnite has managed to stay relevant by providing players with new and interesting skins, maps, and modes throughout the years. This year has been no different, and they have surpassed expectations with their steady flow of content. They continually manage to impress with the sheer number of new things they manage to add to this game each and every year. Whether it be simple tie-in content or completely game-changing features, there is a reason this title continues to be so popular among audiences, old and new.

Award for Best Indie

“For Outstanding Creative And Technical Achievement In A Game Made Outside The Traditional Publisher System.”

Nominees:

  • Dave the Diver
  • Sea of Stars
  • Ghost Runner 2
  • Cocoon
  • Pizza Tower

Winner: Sea of Stars – Sea of Stars is a beautiful love letter to old JRPGs. It features a unique modern-pixelated art style that does so much with so little. The most important thing Sea of Stars does, however, is cutting the fat from the redundant tendencies of JRPGs to let you focus on the fun. Gone are the meaningless sidequests, constant crafting, and confusing structure. From start to finish, this game is 100% awesome and 100% fun.

Award for Best VR/ AR

“For The Best Game Experience Playable In Virtual Or Augmented Reality, Irrespective Of Platform.”

Nominees:

  • Horizon: Call of the Mountain
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake (VR Mode)
  • Humanity
  • Gran Turismo 7 (VR Mode)
  • I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine

Gran Turismo

Winner: Gran Turismo 7 – This title releasing a VR mode coinciding with the release of the PlayStation VR 2 is one of the major reasons the PSVR 2 saw the success it did. GT7, on its own, is a fantastic experience that has the sound design and gameplay to create a truly immersive experience. The ability to play this in VR created an entirely new level of immersion no one had ever experienced. This game shows the value of VR experiences and hopefully will make way for many other great titles to follow.

Award for Best Action Game

“For The Best Game In The Action Genre Focused Primarily On Combat.”

Nominees:

  • Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon
  • Ghost Runner 2
  • Lies of P
  • Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
  • Wild Hearts

Armored Core 6 PC System requirements

Winner: Armored Core VI – FromSoftware has cemented itself as the king of the souls genre. This year, however, they instead revived a franchise with an excellent action game that maintains the studio’s distinct identity while offering players a different type of experience to enjoy. While it may not be exactly what fans have come to expect from the studio, it still features the cinematic boss fights, challenging gameplay, and variety of ways to play that has garnered them so many fans over the years.

Award for Best Action/ Adventure

“For The Best Action/Adventure Game, Combining Combat With Traversal And Puzzle Solving.”

Nominees:

  • Resident Evil 4 Remake
  • Metroid Prime Remastered
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
  • Alan Wake II

`Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Reviews

Winner: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 takes everything that made the first game great and amplifies it exponentially. It tells an important Spider-Man story we all know in a new and interesting way that felt satisfying to all fans. The lessons learned from the first two games in the series are apparent, and the implementation of new ways to interact with the world, fight criminals, and traverse all feel fantastic. There is a reason this has become PlayStation’s fastest-selling title, with the accolades and glowing reviews speaking for themselves.

Award for Best Role-Playing

“For The Best Game Designed With Rich Player Character Customization And Progression, Including Massively Multiplayer Experiences.”

Nominees:

  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Diablo IV
  • Sea of Stars
  • Starfield

Winner: Baldur’s Gate 3 – Baldur’s Gate 3 is paving the way for more complicated role-playing games to take center stage. It takes the idea that you can do almost anything the way that you want to without restricting or bottlenecking the player into how they can do it. This is a true role-playing game where your decisions matter, so how you choose to play will ultimately affect everything from your party to the world around you in tangible ways. It is an experience that hits the mark where it promises and provides a variety of different experiences from playthrough to playthrough.

Award for Best Fighting

“For The Best Game Designed Primarily Around Head-to-head Combat.”

Nominees:

  • Mortal Kombat 1
  • Street Fighter VI
  • Party Animals
  • Idol Showdown
  • Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2

street fighter 6 review

Winner: Street Fighter VI – Street Fighter VI takes the top spot because of the myriad of different ways it gives you to play. It features a well-balanced and diverse roster, stunning visuals, and a unique world tour mode never seen before. This particular entry is also incredibly welcoming to new players. It makes great strides in accessibility that allows for intense battles no matter what the skill levels are. Street Fighter has been around for a long time, and this is surely one of the best entries the series has ever created.

Award for Best Multiplayer

“For Outstanding Online Multiplayer Gameplay And Design, Including Co-op And Massively Multiplayer Experiences, Irrespective Of Game Genre Or Platform.”

Nominees:

  • Counter-Strike 2
  • Remnant II
  • Street Fighter VI
  • Quake II: Enhanced Edition
  • Diablo IV

Counter-Strike 2 Down

Winner: Counter Strike 2 – Counter-Strike was unbelievably influential when it first came out and managed to stay relevant for over 15 years before this sequel was released. Valve does not release games nearly as often as they used to, but when they do, they ensure it is something worth releasing. This sequel came with a ton of improvements and fantastic quality-of-life improvements players had been asking for. This game has already become an absolute must-play for anyone who grew up playing online games in the early 2000s. It perfectly captures the feel of the original, all while feeling incredibly modern, reminding us why we fell in love with gaming in the first place.

Award for Most Anticipated Game

“Recognizing An Announced Game That Has Demonstrably Illustrated Potential To Push The Gaming Medium Forward.”

Nominees:

  • Black Myth: Wukong
  • Avowed
  • Star Wars: Outlaws
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Persona 3 Reload

Winner: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – It should come as a surprise to no one that this is a very hotly anticipated title. The Final Fantasy series has such an enormous amount of fans, and with how the original ended, it seems everyone is invested in the new story Square Enix is telling. Early impressions have already come out more than positive, giving credence to the fact that this could be as good as we all so desperately want it to be. Regardless of how the story turns out, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is sure to be a game we will be dreaming of until we can get our hands on the full experience.

Award for Game Of The Year

“Recognizing A Game That Delivers The Absolute Best Experience Across All Creative And Technical Fields.”

Nominees:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Sea of Stars
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Final Fantasy XVI

Baldur's Gate 3 Update 1.002.004

Winner: Baldur’s Gate 3 – Baldur’s Gate 3 came and innovated the CRPG genre to make it fun and interesting for all players. The care, effort, and devotion the developers put into every detail of this game is undeniable. It is clear that the game they set out to create had an astonishingly high bar that they actually managed to achieve. Larian Studios raised the standard for the rest of the industry, showcasing exactly how a large open world with branching narratives, deep customization, and rewarding gameplay should be done.

Regardless of which games win or lose this year, there is no question that this was an incredibly special year to be a gamer. The Game Awards has always done a phenomenal job of recognizing the deserving talent and passion that pushes this industry forward year after year. With so many fantastic titles to choose from for each and every category, Geoff Keighley and the panel of judges sure have their work cut out for them. Geoff always seems to have something up his sleeve though, and you can expect there to be a ton of interesting news and announcements to give you plenty of reason to be excited for next year too.

The official nominees are set to be released Monday, November 13th, 2023. Just like previous years, you can help decide who wins or loses by voting on the official game awards page.

Call of Duty Endowment Warrior Pack Gives You a Veteran-Inspired Skin; Twitch Drops Revealed

Call of Duty Endowment is back again this year, which means players have an opportunity to help out veterans in need! But this year is a little different, as not only will you get to help the troops out, but you’ll also get to play as one.

One of the great deeds that Activision has done with Call of Duty ever since 2009 was their Call of Duty Endowment program, a non-profit foundation that has assisted US and UK veterans in finding jobs, amongst other needs. Every year, Call of Duty has offered Endowment packages for purchases, with all the funding going to charities. Since then, the program has helped 125,000 veterans find jobs, securing their future and their families.

However, this year is a bit different for players, as not only will they get the traditional perks of buying the pack, but they’ll also get a special operator skin inspired by a real-life veteran. Dubbed the Call of Duty Endowment: The Warrior Pack, details on everything included (via COD Blog) below, as well as the story behind the veteran skin.

The Warrior Pack includes:

  • “Koa King” Operator Skin
  • “Dethroned” SMG Weapon Blueprint
  • “6-Karat Kicker” Marksman Rifle Weapon Blueprint
  • “Island Styling” Vehicle Skin
  • “Bone Skewer” Weapon Charm
  • “Lion Pride” Animated Emblem
  • “Triple Bone Trident” Weapon Sticker
  • “Rolling Mane” Animated Calling Card
  • 1 Hour Double Player XP Token
  • 1 Hour Double Weapon XP Token

The eldest of eight, Benjamin F. was born in American Samoa, surrounded by water in the “Cradle of Polynesia,” where he learned to hunt, swim, endure the elements, and thrive. At a young age, it fell on him to provide for his siblings and protect them. It was a responsibility he accepted with courage and that yielded accountability, selflessness, and self-discipline — skills that would serve him well throughout his career as a United States Navy SEAL.

At age 10, the change of being uprooted from his island home and relocated to the Midwest provided him the opportunity to diversify, grow, and develop. His family moved a dozen times before he finished high school, forcing him to continually adapt and evolve. His performance as an athlete became social currency, his life thus far appearing tailor-made for the Teams. But the adversity of BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training) is something no amount of living can prepare one for, and a severe injury cut his experience short the first time through. With perseverance, he recovered, trained, reentered the program in a new class, and graduated.

Over his 16 years of service, he deployed to Europe, Africa, Afghanistan, and Iraq. One of his specialties was reconnaissance, where he honed his instincts and experience to ensure the safety of his fellow SEALs before they arrived on-target. During his career, he received two Bronze Stars, both with Valor; the Purple Heart; the Navy Commendation Medal; and the Navy Achievement Medal. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

These won’t be the only perks, however, as there is a “true Legend” event running from November 15-22, that allows you to earn free drops simply by playing and equipping the Koa King operator skin.

  • “Emblematic” Sticker
  • 30 Minute Double Player XP Token

Sledgehammer Denies Claims That Modern Warfare 3 Was Developed in 16 Months; Says It Was “Years in the Making”

A new report has surfaced claiming that Modern Warfare 3 was developed in roughly 16 months, with it initially pitched as DLC. Similar allegations had surfaced prior to the announcement of Modern Warfare 3, with Activision dismissing them, and it seems to be the same case here, with Sledgehammer refuting the claims.

Last year, rumors began circulating that the next Call of Duty would indeed be a follow-up to Modern Warfare 2. At the time, many were shocked, considering that sequels aren’t seen until after the next game in tradition. Things got even more crazier when rumors suggested it was merely DLC, with Activision skipping out on a premium game for the first time in a year. The company soon came out to clarify all this, suggesting otherwise. It seems those reports are surfacing once again due to the poor reception around Modern Warfare 3, as Bloomberg has posted a detailed story about the harsh development time that Sledgehammer Games had undergone to deliver this year’s iteration.

“The process was hurried because this year’s game was conceived to fill a gap in the release schedule following the delay of another Call of Duty title previously planned for 2023. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was originally pitched to staff at Foster City, California-based developer Sledgehammer Games as an expansion to last year’s title, but it morphed into a full sequel during development, Bloomberg earlier reported.”

They go on to say that multiple sources, both current and former employees, were under the impression that they were developing DLC for MW2, rather than a full sequel, which was told to them later.

After Vanguard, the team had pitched for a futuristic setting, Call of Duty, which would be set in the same era as Advanced Warfare, which got shelved in favor of a Modern-era Call of Duty.

This initially led to the team working on a Modern Warfare spinoff campaign set in Mexico that would have been more attainable in the short amount of development time they were given. That, unfortunately was changed when Activision execs stepped in and forced a reboot.

“For the first few months of the project, which was codenamed Jupiter, the story was conceived as a smaller-scale Modern Warfare spinoff set in Mexico that would be more achievable on a short timeline than the usual globe-trotting escapades of a full new campaign. But in the summer of last year, Activision executives rebooted that story, and told the developers that instead they would be making a direct sequel to Modern Warfare II centering on the villain Vladimir Makarov and featuring missions all across the world.”

The report claims that Sledgehammer Games took 16 months to develop the game we have now. Although players are taking a massive liking to the multiplayer changes, despite still feeling like DLC, its campaign is another story as it has received some heavy criticisms from fans and critics.

Sledgehammer Games released a statement on X from its studio head, Aaron Halon, which says they’ve spent years on this vision, and anyone saying other is “not true.”

“Statement from Aaron Halon, studio head, SHG. “We’re incredibly proud of Modern Warfare III – both the full game experience at launch and the upcoming year of content we have planned for the community. On behalf of the extremely talented team across Sledgehammer Games and our partner studios with whom we’ve collaborated on development, this has been a labor of love to lead the first ever back-to-back sequel in Call of Duty. We cannot wait to see our community’s reaction to all that the entire game has to offer, across Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies.

From the start of development, we have all been laser focused on creating the next groundbreaking Call of Duty game. Long before we wrapped up our previous game, we heard loud and clear from fans about the desire to stay and play together for longer within the same series. And that’s what we’ve delivered – the first true sequel in franchise history. It is also why we added features like Carry Forward for the first time to honor the investment our players have made in the Modern Warfare series.

We’re proud to be the team to lead the way on Modern Warfare III. We have worked hard to deliver on this vision which has been years in the making. Anything said to the contrary is simply not true – this is our game and we cannot wait to play it online with all of you.”

It’s hard to know what’s true, and until someone speaks out about it publicly, we likely will never know the truth behind all this.

Still, with the studio and the rest of the Call of Duty teams now under Microsoft, it hopefully means that the teams have more flexibility, allowing them more time for releases rather than being forced to make them annually, as we’ve seen.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is now available worldwide on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Stay tuned for our review, which should be in the next few weeks.
