The Best Payday 3 Heist for Beginners

Let’s say you’re brand-new to the Payday franchise, having never touched the previous entry whatsoever. You’re about to wind up thrust into the criminal underbelly of New York City with a team of seasoned heisters. If you’re playing a public game, don’t expect them to wait. They expect you to handle your business. But learning all of the new mechanics on the fly is made easier when the heist isn’t terribly difficult. Here’s the best Payday 3 heist for beginners!

The Best Beginner Heist in Payday 3

When it comes to the best beginner heist in Payday 3, I bet most would expect us to drop No Rest For the Wicked as the go-to for newcomers. Sure, it’s an easy heist at a small-time bank in the big city. It’s also the first heist most players will become intimate with during their playtime in Payday 3. It’s easy and straightforward. But it’s not the only easy heist available.

Instead, we recommend Gold & Sharke. It’s a bank heist that proves extremely lucrative and easy to complete. The only genuine downside to Gold & Sharke is its length. It’s not as fast as, say, Road Rage, but it does pay more. But hey, as a beginner, the length doesn’t matter as much. It provides adequate time to learn the groove of the game while also earning a ton of cash to spend on weapons, attachments, and clothing options.

Tips to Complete Gold & Sharke

  • As a beginner, don’t worry about stealth. It’s entirely possible to complete Gold & Sharke loud, and it’s often more fun. Go ahead and whip out that shotgun and have a blast!
  • Gold & Sharke features numerous steps to complete, so keep busy. Even as a beginner, try to help the team find the clues in Human Resources, drill open the gate, and loot the vault. Play your part!
  • Do your best to stick with at least one other teammate. If someone goes down during loud gameplay, the partner can easily pick them up and keep the flow going strong.

Gran Turismo Sport Online Services Ending on Jan. 31, 2024

If you’re still playing Gran Turismo Sport up to this day, and you’re planning on taking it online, you best do it now, as you won’t be able to do so in the next few months, as Polyphony Digital has announced that the Gran Turismo Sport online services are set to end on January 31, 2024.

Prior to this, the game’s downloadable content will be pulled from the PlayStation Store on December 1, 2022.

Once January 31, 2024 rolls around, players will no longer be able to utilize online features such as the Open Lobby, Sport mode, custom liveries and of course, online multiplayer. Offline portions of the game will still be available.

Check out the FAQ for GT Sport’s online services ending below.

Gran Turismo Sport Online Services Ending FAQ:

All existing cars and personalised Car Settings kept in Garage will be accessible. Gameplay progression required as normal to unlock additional cars and items.

What happens to my liveries after online services end on 31 January 2024?

As Discover requires an online connection, it will no longer be possible to access custom liveries of vehicles, helmets, or racing suits.

Would I be able access all the world circuits?

Yes, all world circuits will be accessible. Gameplay progression required as normal to unlock selected tracks.

Can I still purchase Downloadable Content from the PlayStation™Store?

You will no longer be able to purchase Downloadable Content including vehicles, Scapes Content Pack, and Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge from the PlayStation™Store starting on 1 December 2023. All content purchased prior to 1 December 2023 will be accessible after the end of online service.

While this is not good news for players of the game, it’s expected. Of course, chances are, most of the Gran Turismo fans have moved on from GT Sport and are currently playing Grant Turismo 7. Speaking of which, that game just got its latest content update yesterday, which you can read about here.

Bish Bash Bots Hands-On Preview – Revenge of the Robots

Technology and AI are being relied on more and more in our society, which lends more credence to the fear many have of them one day taking over. This has been a theme used across many mediums over the years such as The Terminator series, but developer CATASTROPHIC_OVERLOAD decided to take on the idea with a little more light-hearted approach in Bish Bash Bots. Ahead of the October release of the game, we had the opportunity to go hands-on with Bish Bash Bots to see if we could fight back against the renegade robots.

Tower Defense With A Twist

The world in Bish Bash Bots became so advanced that humans no longer had to work, and instead were able to relax while robots handled everything. That was at least until an uprising that turned the robots against the humans and the robots started stealing everything. The robots made one major mistake though, attacking a science fair where the game’s four playable characters were participating. This leads to the foursome having to use their own tech that they have created to fight back, which allows them to escape as a group to their flying Aerovan. The story intro is a bit long-winded for a game like this, but it is skippable for those who would rather just get straight into the action.

Bish Bash Bots is an up to four-player co-op game that is split into multiple worlds of four stages, with each stage having to be beaten to move onward. The game does a good job of starting off pretty simple to ease you into the game and its mechanics. As with most tower defense games, one of the keys to survival is to build a variety of different turrets to take down enemy forces before they can reach your base, in this case, an EMP device that is charging the entire match. Once the EMP reaches 100%, you have to go to it and smash a button to activate it and end the match instantly.

Bish Bash Bots Review

Bish Bash Bots’ four playable characters play the exact same except for their special moves. For instance, Annika’s special move allows you to upgrade faster when it is active while Sol’s makes you hit harder when it is active. I personally found Annika’s faster upgrade ability to be one of the most useful, as upgraded turrets can really turn the tide in a mission sometimes.

Surveying each mission’s map setup and finding out where to place turrets is going to be step number one in every stage. I learned very quickly that it sometimes takes a few restarts of a level to really figure out the best way to strategize, as the maps often have multiple pathways that enemies can enter and you do not know those patterns to start. Thankfully, the patterns are pre-determined rather than being a roguelike, which means you can prepare your forces for the barrage of incoming robots. While it is easy to restart a mission, I wish it was more obvious where the first enemies are coming from so that you wouldn’t have to continually feel the need to restart until you get a feel for that specific mission.

You are not able to place infinite turrets though, as you are limited in the number of scraps that you have available to build them. You have a set number to start each match and will earn more as you defeat more robots. The amount of scraps being dropped dwindles the longer into a match you get, so you have to be careful to conserve the scraps.

Playing more stages unlock additional turret types as well, some of which are vital to your success in battle. The first two you have access to are the Blaster and Cannon, which can both take down ground forces. However, some stages will require you to utilize the Anti-Air turret and then later others like the Thumper and such to fight specific types of enemies. There are many stages that will be outright impossible to beat if you do not use these, so figuring out how to manage your scraps and the various turret types is very important.

As aforementioned, upgrading turrets is very important if you want to beat some of the more difficult stages. By bashing the turret with your weapon, you can gradually upgrade it until it is maxed out. There will also be upgrade packs that some robots drop that you can throw onto a turret to get a much larger upgrade boost than hitting it would do. Figuring out when are good time to focus on upgrades and which turrets to upgrade adds a lot of strategy to the game.

Not only are you able to attack the enemy bots with a variety of turrets, but one of the unique twists in Bish Bash Bots is that you can take matters into your own hands and fight the bots as well. I learned very quickly that you do minimal damage compared to the turrets, but more than anything your character can be used for crowd control. When bots aren’t quite getting in range of your turrets or are rushing down a pathway too quickly, you can go and bash away to try and place them in a better position. Another very useful tactic is to knock robots into holes that are found in some stages to knock them out immediately. One problem I found myself having more than I would have liked was falling in these holes myself even when it didn’t look like they should be falling in the hole, which forced me to tread even more carefully when around them.

Your character also has an equippable gadget in their arsenal that they can pull out at certain times during the match before having to wait for a cooldown before using it again. These vary in how useful they can really be, with one of my favorites being the Shock Hammer that freezes enemies in place for a few seconds. I honestly didn’t find myself using the gadgets too much, but they are nice to use sparingly during a mission.

Some stages also have special setups that you have to work around, such as having mushrooms that you must destroy before playing turrets or a sandstorm popping up that switches the stage up entirely a few times during a match. The developers definitely were creative with these to try and keep the game fresh, but they almost felt like they were glossed over too quickly as the game moved on to the next type of stage hazard.

Bish Bash Bots Preview

The Aerovan is your character’s home base between stages where you will do all of your character customization. The only real physical player customization that you can do is to equip various unlockable cosmetic hats, which are unlocked by completing in-game challenges. I was really hoping for more levels of customization related to unlocks, but this still does the job well enough. You also have the ability to select which gadget you would like your character to equip ahead of the battle, with more being unlocked the more you play the game. One of the game’s only frustrating aspects, in the preview state at least, is that the game does not remember which cosmetic or gadget you had equipped the last time you played, so you will always have to go in and set them with every play session.

Adding to the possible fun in the game is the ability to play with up to four players locally or online in co-op. We were only able to experience the single-player side of the game, but I can definitely imagine adding more players can bring even more chaos than that which already exists in each mission.

Take Down The Bots

Bish Bash Bots is a fairly basic tower defense game that gives you a little more control over the outcome than many others in the genre. Not only do you build hordes of turrets to mow down enemies, but you also get to go in and smash the opposition hands-on, albeit more for crowd control than doing massive damage to them. The game also introduces new mechanics to keep the game fairly fresh from what we saw, though I definitely wish some of the more unique ideas got more time to breathe before moving on to the next.

From what we were able to play, Bish Bash Bots is shaping up to be a solid tower defense game that tries to mix in a few more hands-on elements to keep the player invested throughout each mission. Hopefully, the development team is working to polish some of the minimal issues and will allow for a smooth launch when it releases very soon.

MP1st was given access to a preview build of Bish Bash Bots for our hands-on session. Bish Bash Bots launches on October 19 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Sega Cancels Hyenas and Other Unannounced Projects From Its European Studios

In an unexpected development, Sega has announced the cancellation of Creative Assembly’s Hyenas and other unannounced projects. The cancellation of Hyenas is particularly significant because the game was playable and even had a public demo just last month at Gamescom and a recent beta.

Sega announced Hyena’s cancellation in part of a restructuring, citing the lower profitability of the European region as the primary reason for the cancellations.

In response to the lower profitability of the European region, we have reviewed the title portfolio of each development base in Europe and the resulting action will be to cancel “HYENAS” and some unannounced titles under development. Accordingly, we will implement a write-down of work-in-progress for titles under development.

Sega further stated that the fixed expenses at Creative Assembly are also being reduced.

We will implement reduction of various fixed expenses at several group companies in relevant region, centered on the Creative Assembly Ltd. We expect to incur one-time expenses related to reduction of fixed expenses.

We will continue to consider measures to improve profitability in European bases apart from above. We will announce the specific details and impact from them as soon as we make decision.

Creative Assembly is currently working on Total War: Pharaoh, scheduled for launch on October 11, 2023.  However, the future of the studio’s employees is unclear because there’s no information about whether they will be affected in any way.

Hyenas was announced last year as an extraction shooter and was scheduled to be released this year, but unfortunately, it will not be seeing the light of day.

What are your thoughts on this sudden cancellation? Do share in the comments below!

Report: Epic Games Layoffs Cut Roughly 900 Employees Off

It’s another sad day for game company news. According to Bloomberg, a whole heap of Epic Games layoffs occurred this morning and resulted in roughly 16%, or 870 employees, being let go. Epic Games is most well-known these days for their massive free-to-play battle royale Fortnite.

Epic’s CEO Tim Sweeney reportedly had this to say in a note to employees:

For a while now, we’ve been spending way more money than we earn. I had long been optimistic that we could power through this transition without layoffs, but in retrospect I see this was unrealistic.

Sweeney also reportedly cited a change in the company’s economics as the main reason for these layoffs. Apparently, due to Fortnite’s new Creator program, which gives players the ability to create and sell content in-game, Epic’s revenue structure has changed a little, leading to a need to cut down on non-core development positions.

Epic Games will also reportedly lose another 250 employees once the company sells Bandcamp, the well-known music site, and spins off SuperAwesome, a marketing company owned by Epic.

We hate to see stories like this. Ascendant Studios just lost half of its staff following the release of Immortals of Aveum, and right after that, Embracer cut down on Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics. It’s been a rough season for the game dev world.

We’ll be sure to update this story once Epic Games provides an official statement on the layoffs. In the meantime, stay tuned in to MP1st for any further updates.

Battlefield 2042 Transitioning to EA Anticheat Starting With Season 6, FAQ Released

EA has announced that starting with Season 6, Battlefield 2042 will be transitioning to EA Anticheat. Players shouldn’t notice a difference when logging in and playing the shooter, though EA says this will enable their teams to be better equipped to find and remove players that cheat.

Read on for the full FAQ on the topic below.

Battlefield 2042 EA Anticheat FAQ:

What is EA anticheat?

EA anticheat is a kernel-mode anti-cheat and anti-tamper solution developed in-house at Electronic Arts. PC cheat developers have increasingly moved into the kernel, so we need to have kernel-mode protections to ensure fair play and tackle PC cheat developers on an even playing field.

As tech-inclined video gamers ourselves, it is important to us to make sure that any kernel anti-cheat included in our games acts with a strong focus on the privacy and security of our gamers that use a PC.

Why are you moving to EA anticheat?

Third party anti-cheat solutions are often opaque to our teams, and prevent us from implementing additional privacy controls or customizations that provide greater accuracy and granularity for EA-specific game modes. With EA anticheat we have full stack ownership of the security & privacy posture, so we can fix security issues as soon as they may arise.

Why is kernel level anti-cheat needed?

This varies on a game-by-game basis. For games that are highly competitive and contain many online modes such as Battlefield 2042, kernel-mode protection is absolutely vital. When cheat programs operate in kernel space, they can make their cheat functionally invisible to anti-cheat solutions that live in user-mode.

Unfortunately, the last few years have seen a large increase in cheats and cheat techniques operating in kernel-mode, so the only reliable way to detect and block these is to continue to have our anti-cheat operate there as well.

In addition to EA anticheat protecting our PC players from cheaters, our console players who match with PC opponents through Battlefield 2042’s cross-play features will also be protected from cheaters operating on PC platforms.

Are the System Requirements for Battlefield 2042 changing?

We still support Windows 10 and 11.

Will EA anticheat degrade gameplay?

No. We’ve conducted extensive internal and independent performance and stability assessments to ensure EA anticheat is as performant and lightweight as possible. EA anticheat will have negligible impact on your gameplay.

Does EA anticheat run when I start my PC, or only when the game is running?

EA anticheat only runs when a game with EA anticheat protection included is running. All anti-cheat processes shut down when the game does.

Does EA anticheat stay on my PC if I uninstall Battlefield 2042? Can I uninstall it if I want?

If you have uninstalled all of your EA games that have EA anticheat protection, EA anticheat will automatically uninstall and remove itself from your PC. It can also be manually uninstalled by you at any time you choose and will be completely removed from your PC.

Please note that if you uninstall EA anticheat , any games that require EA anticheat protection (like Battlefield 2042) will not be playable until EA anticheat is reinstalled. If you would like to reinstall EA anticheat we’ve made it as easy as possible to do so, with simple prompts in the game launch process.

Does EA anticheat let EA see my browsing history, personal files, or things like that?

Player privacy is a top concern of our Game Security & Anti-Cheat team – after all, we’re players as well! EA anticheat will only look at what it needs to for anti-cheat purposes in our games and we have limited the information EA anticheat  collects. If you have a process on your PC that is trying to interact with our game, EA anticheat could see that and respond. However, everything else is off limits.

EA anticheat does not gather any information about your browsing history, applications that are not connected to EA games, or anything that is not directly related to anti-cheat protection. We’ve worked with independent, 3rd party computer security and privacy services firms to ensure EA anticheat operates with data privacy top of mind.

For the information that EA anticheat does collect, we strive to maintain privacy where possible through a cryptographic process called hashing to create unique identifiers and discard the original information. Overall, EA anticheat use of your computer and data collection is consistent with EA’s User Agreement and Privacy and Cookie Policy.

How do I know that EA anticheat is not introducing any security vulnerabilities to my PC?

Our Game Security & Anti-Cheat team is composed of some of the best security engineers in the world, and we are passionate about ensuring that our software does not cause any security vulnerabilities. Our anti-cheat engineering team performs daily testing and we continuously run security and penetration tests against EA anticheat internally.

But don’t just trust our word on this.  We’ve also worked with independent, 3rd party security and privacy assessors to validate EA anticheat does not degrade the security posture of your PC and to ensure strict data privacy boundaries.

Although we’re confident that we’ve taken every possible precaution, we are monitoring and listening to any reports received to make sure that potential issues get addressed as quickly as possible.

I think I found a security vulnerability with EA anticheat, who can I contact?

If you believe you’ve found a vulnerability, please let us know by following our Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure process by emailing secure@ea.com right away. We take potential security issues seriously, and will work to fix them as quickly as we can.

Where can I get help if I run into issues with EA anticheat?

If you need help to install and troubleshoot EA anticheat on your PC then you can visit our EA Help page.

Speaking of Season 6, DICE hasn’t revealed a release date for it yet, though it’s confirmed to be released in October.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash Characters Revealed in New Trailer: Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and More

Following a recent Fortnite appearance, the Jujutsu Kaisen cast is returning to video games in an upcoming 2v2 fighter. A new Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash Characters trailer swung out today and showcased a handful of characters that’ll be playable upon the game’s release.

You can view the brand new trailer here:

The trailer shows off movesets for Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, and Gojo Satoru. It also reveals a new fighter: the King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna. Each of these fighters has their own unique moveset reminiscent of their abilities in the anime and manga.

All in all, the game looks like it’ll be a good romp for fans of the series. It looks pretty similar to the upcoming Naruto x Boruto game in terms of the way arenas are set up and the 3D fighting game design. These sorts of games always manage to find a dedicated audience.

Speaking of Naruto, if you’re interested in checking out the trailer for the upcoming Naruto x Boruto game we mentioned earlier, we’ve got it for you here.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC upon release.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Accessibility Features Detailed: Gameplay Assists, Shortcuts, and More

The underlying message of Spider-Man is that anyone can wear the mask. Insomniac is looking to make that as true as possible with some new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 accessibility features intended to open to the game to as many players as possible. This news comes from a PlayStation Blog post following last week’s announcement that the game will feature a toggleable fall damage setting.

The amount of accessibility features available in Spider-Man 2 is pretty impressive, so let’s get into it.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Accessibility Features

Challenge Level Modifiers and Gameplay Assists

spider-man 2 accessibility

Alongside the usual easy, medium, and hard difficulty settings, Spider-Man 2 includes individual settings for Enemy Health, Enemy Damage, and Stealth Awareness, so players can fine tune their combat experiences. Stealth section haters no longer have to worry about struggling to sneak past enemies just because they want their combat encounters to be difficult.

Spider-Man 2 is also reintroducing features from the previous titles such as Chase Assist and Quick Time Event (QTE) Autocomplete. These features aim to make playing through the more technical story sequences easier. Changing Taps to Holds and Web-Shooter Burst are also returning to help alleviate motor fatigue.

Shortcuts and Game Speed

Shortcuts are an Insomniac staple at this point. They allow you to assign all sorts of inputs to the left or right D-pad buttons for quick access. These inputs can be anything from opening Photo Mode to completing multiple button presses in a single tap.

Adjustable Game Speed also returns with speeds of 30%, 50%, and 70%. By binding these to Shortcut buttons, players can slow down the game to give them more time to react to what’s happening. This will help to prevent players from feeling too overwhelmed when there’s a lot happening on screen.

Audio Frequency Controls

spider-man 2 accessibility

Audio Frequency Controls enable players to disable potentially uncomfortable noises like High Frequency and Low Frequency sounds. If you’re adverse to booming explosion sounds or the ringing of flashbangs, you can use these settings to filter those sounds out.

Post Launch Accesibility

The team also has plans to continue introducing accessibility features after the game launches next month. Some of the planned features include Audio Descriptions, which will add narration that explains what’s happening on-screen for visually impaired players, and Screen Reader, which will read out menu items and tutorials. Captions for all sorts of audio content will also be available following the game’s release.

There you have it. Insomniac also provided an entire page detailing every accessibility feature players will have access to upon release. You can view that page here.

We love to see developers working hard to ensure that their game is accessible to as many people as possible. Video games should be enjoyed by all, and it’s good to see a team put effort towards making that happen.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases exclusively for PS5 on October 18, 2024. The game recently went gold, so stay tuned for our review when the game releases.

PlayStation Collectibles by Gaming Heads Set for Destruction Following Order From Sony

Sony’s having a very weird week. For starters, President and CEO Jim Ryan announced his plans to retire after 30 years at the company. Now, in a letter to fans this morning, video game merchandise website Gaming Heads announced that Sony has ordered the destruction of their entire stock of PlayStation collectibles, even those already paid for by customers.

This letter was posted on Gaming Heads’ official social media accounts as well as directly on their website. The letter reads as follows:

OPEN LETTER TO THE SONY PLAYSTATION COLLECTING COMMUNITY

On this The Last of Us Day, we regret to inform you and the SONY PlayStation collecting community that SONY has told us to destroy all of our SONY PlayStation merchandise, including in-stock items (e.g. The Last of Us Part II: Ellie statues, Jak 3 statues, God of War statues / busts etc.), items ready to ship to you (i.e. the Sly Cooper (Classic edition) statue), items in production (i.e. The Last of Us: Ellie & Joel diorama) and items in development and ready to launch (e.g. Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank statues). Yes, this also includes destroying items you have paid for and are waiting to ship to you.

All of our other items (i.e. all non SONY PlayStation items) are fine and are not affected by SONY PlayStation’s decision.

We have worked with SONY PlayStation for more than 10 years to bring you some of the best video game collectibles and have been trying hard to get them to change their mind. They know you have paid your hard-earned money for items that are ready to ship to you or that are in production but unfortunately, after doing all that we can, they have told us not to ship your orders to you – “our business priorities remain unchanged” (a recent direct quote from SONY).

Yes, this is SONY PlayStation’s decision, not ours.

Yes, we want to ship your Jak 3, TLOU2 Ellie, TLOU Ellie & Joel, Sly Cooper and Kratos statues/bust to you but SONY PlayStation does not allow it.

Yes, SONY PlayStation has already received royalty payments from you on your orders that SONY PlayStation now wants us to destroy and not ship to you.

We sincerely apologize if you find yourself in this completely avoidable situation, but please contact Judy Ward (Commercial Partnerships | Sony Interactive Entertainment) at Judy.Ward@sony.com about your (now cancelled) order, payments, refunds etc. and what they will do for you. This is the team at SONY PlayStation that requires the destruction of the items you have ordered, paid for and on which SONY PlayStation has already received royalties from you but will now not allow us to ship your orders to you.

Together we made it through Covid lockdowns, factory closures (it effected production of the Sly Cooper statue, the Kratos (Norse) bust and caused countless delays with other statues), and many other challenges but it seems that you cannot change a decision of SONY PlayStation even if the decision may hurt the SONY PlayStation collecting community We remember SONY PlayStation’s old tagline that they are ‘for the Players’ … but given their recent decision that they know adversely affects those in the collecting community willing to spend more on SONY PlayStation merchandise than an actual console, we are now not so sure.

We again sincerely apologize for this extremely disappointing situation but continue to work with our other licensing partners to bring the best video game collectibles to you and to the rest of the collecting community.

Thank you for your continued support.

This is truly a bizarre move from Sony. According to a tweet from Gaming Heads, the only explanation Sony offered was that Gaming Heads and their products were “no longer business priorities.”

Understandably, the staff at Gaming Heads is pretty salty about this. They’re now going to have dozens of refunds to process and a whole heap of collectibles with nowhere to go. This decision seems very out-of-the-blue for Sony, but it’s always hard to say what goes on behind closed doors.

In other Sony news, a hacker group claims to have successfully breached Sony’s data and is auctioning off the information for an exorbitant amount of money. We’ve got an article with all the pertinent information here.

What do you think of Sony’s order of destruction? Let us know.
