Experiment 101 has released the Biomutant update 2.09 patch this November 5, or what the studio calls patch 1.7. There’s no new content in this, and was rolled out for Japanese localization improvements. Head on below for more details.
This update overhauls and improves the Japanese localization of the game based on player feedback we’ve received.
Outside of that, the game has gotten an update recently for fixes as well. if you’ve yet to play the game, go read our review here where we state, “Biomutant is by no means a terrible game, far from it, it just feels like it never hits its full potential. It’s clear that Experiment 101 took inspiration from many games and tried to put it all in one nice package, but in the case of Biomutant there is just too much of too little. The morality system feels out of place, as do the dialogue and player’s choices, and the side quests are just there for the sake of being there. There is a good foundation, but not a lot to be held by it. Combat and its world may be the saving grace of Biomutant, but this is one mutant that might need more experimentation before it achieves its full potential.”
With Activision having struck gold with Call of Duty: Warzone, some people (like this guy) assumed that EA would somehow tie-in a free-to-play (F2P) mode to Battlefield 2042 to counteract that. As we know now, EA has revealed Battlefield 2042’s three core modes: All-Out Warfare (128-player matches), Battlefield Portal, and Hazard Zone, with none of them offering a free-to-play option.
While that might be the case now, it looks like EA is indeed considering a Battlefield component that’s F2P, though the publisher didn’t mention whether this would be tied in to Battlefield 2042 or a separate title on its own. In the publisher’s latest quarterly earnings report, EA CEO Andrew Wilson states that it would “make sense” for the Battlefield franchise to have a F2P component to the overall “ecosystem” in the future.
I think when we look at our Battlefield franchise today with the knowledge that it probably makes sense to have a free-to-play component to that overall ecosystem in the future.
Job number 1 was truly a reinvention of the action shooter category and I think that’s what they have seek — sort of do. And that’s what they’ve achieved through this 128-plan multiplayer [Indiscernible] expansion, deeper engagement in creativity to portal mode, and innovative new modes in and around the game. I think the next page of that is going to be the launch of the Battlefield Mobile total. And then as we continue to expand that — and that in itself will serve tens of millions of players. I think as we ever think about further expanding apply those over time, free-to-play will make sense for the franchise, but it’s not the focus right now. – Andrew Wilson, EA CEO
There is a free-to-play Battlefield game set to launch soon, which is Battlefield Mobile, which is currently being tested in different regions right now. As for a standalone, “core” Battlefield game that’s F2P, the last one we saw was Battlefield Heroes, which was released back in 2009 for PC. Developed by DICE, the game was played via a third-person perspective, and had its servers close back in 2015.
Would you want a F2P Battlefield game? More importantly, would you want it to be a battle royale and compete with Warzone? Sound off in the comments and let us know.
With the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard set for tomorrow, November 5, Activision has given us an in-depth look at how the COD Vanguard weapons and loadouts work! While some of the info shared might be old news for Call of Duty vets, there’s still a lot to chew on, so dive in! Check out the complete COD Vanguard Perks list, as well as how weapon customization works and more.
Muzzle: A device affixed to the front of a weapon’s barrel. Examples include compensators for controlling recoil, silencers for concealment, and recoil boosters that improve fire rate.
Underbarrel: An attachment used for better weapon control via grips and bipods, in addition to the Bayonet for greater melee damage and range.
Barrel: Changing a weapon’s barrel can significantly alter how the gun operates, from short, lightweight barrels that increase handling speeds at the cost of bullet velocity and initial recoil to extended barrels that increase the weapon’s damage range at the cost of movement speed and hip-fire accuracy.
Magazine: Changing a weapon’s magazine can be as simple as adding a drum version of that weapon’s normal ammo or as drastic as swapping out the bullet caliber, significantly altering fire rate, damage, penetration, and other statistics.
Ammo Type: Change out the ammo used in your weapon’s magazine. Ammo types include FMJ for added bullet penetration through surfaces, and Incendiary rounds, dealing damage over time after bullet impact.
Optic: An aiming device that offers clearer target acquisition. Optics come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as well as different magnification settings.
Rear Grip: The material used for a grip affects how the weapon handles. Materials with high friction like pine tar offer great recoil control, while smooth materials like fabric improve your aiming speed.
Stock: The back portion, or “butt,” of a weapon. Heavier stocks tend to improve accuracy and control, while lighter stocks tend to improve movement and weapon-handling speeds.
Proficiency: This category directly affects your Operator’s proficiency with a weapon. Examples include Sleight of Hand for faster reloads and Nerves of Steel for boosting accuracy while injured or suppressed.
Kit: Another Operator-focused category. Examples include Surplus, awarding additional XP for eliminations, and Heavy Hitter, in which melee attacks with the equipped weapon produce a greater stun on targets.
Weapon Stats
Adding and taking away attachments often alters a weapon’s four basic statistics —Firepower, Speed, Accuracy, and Ammo — displayed in the Gunsmith menu.
Firepower: How much and how fast a weapon deals damage against enemies and vehicles. Sub-statistics include Damage (shown as a number of hit points — in Core modes, everyone normally has 100 hit points for each life), Fire Rate (how fast a weapon fires in rounds per minute), and Bullet Velocity (how fast a bullet travels in meters per second).
Speed: How much the weapon affects an Operator’s movement speed and ability to aim down sights. Sub-statistics include Movement Speed (shown with the maximum speed through Tactical Sprint in miles per hour) and Sprint-to-Fire Time (shown in milliseconds).
Accuracy: How much recoil the weapon has, as well as its stability and hip-fire spread. Sub-statistics include Flinch Resistance (how much force, in Newtons, an Operator feels when damaged, which affects their aim) and Centering Speed (the acceleration of a weapon as it returns to its regular position after firing, shown in meters per second squared).
Ammo: How large a weapon’s magazine is, how fast an Operator can reload with it, and other measurable effects that the bullet has. Sub-statistics include Penetration (how many Newtons of force the bullet has, important for shooting through destructible walls) and Concealment (the number of seconds where an Operator’s position is revealed).
Perks
Perks come in one of three categories — Perk 1, Perk 2, and Perk 3. Choose one Perk from each category to determine your Operator’s specialized abilities. The available Perks are as follows:
Perk 1
Fortified: Reduces damage from explosives by 15%. Damage reduction doubled while mounted, crouched, or prone. Reduces health-regen delay from explosives.
Survival Training: Maximized resistance to stun effects. Immune to gas.
Ninja: Move silently. Take reduced damage when falling. Reduces the effectiveness of enemy Tracker Perks.
Dauntless: Immune to movement-reducing effects.
Ghost: While moving, you are undetectable by Spy Planes, enemy Intel, and Field Mics. Reduces effectiveness of Local Informants.
Cold Blooded: AI-controlled Killstreaks will not target you, and player-controlled Killstreaks will not highlight you. You do not trigger High Alert. Reduces the range at which awareness markers appear for enemies.
Perk 2
Tracker: Enemies leave behind a footprint trail. See markers at enemy death locations and hide the death markers of enemies you kill.
Radar: Enemies appear on your minimap when they fire an unsilenced weapon.
High Alert: Your vision pulses when enemies outside of your view see you.
Engineer: Detect enemy equipment, Field Upgrades, and Killstreaks through walls. Mark them for your team by aiming down sights. Hack enemy equipment and field upgrades.

Local Informants: While active, reveals the location and direction of all enemies on the map.
If you’re planning on picking up the game, check out what to do in the first 10 hours here.
If you’re one of the 7.7 million gamers who participated in the Battlefield 2042 beta or you knew people who tried it out, it seems a majority of people liked what they played. According to EA, the Battlefield 2042 beta feedback they received was “overwhelmingly positive,” though admitted that there were “conversations” around some elements of the beta.
This was revealed by EA CEO Andrew Wilson during EA’s latest quarterly earnings report. In it, Wilson reiterated that the beta client was an earlier build of the game, and if you see the early access numbers, and engagement numbers overall, they see it as a “tremendous demand” for the shooter.
Yeah. So, I think that on balance, the feedback from the beta was overwhelmingly positive. There were some conversations around some elements of the beta, which is not unnatural innovator. And we will be able to take that feedback around those elements — those constructive elements and really implement that in the game. And again, I think what we had talked about with the community is, it was an earlier build of the game that we used for the beta as the team continues to work, and tune, and polish the final build for the game. So, we feel really good about that. I think when you think about the early access numbers and engaging numbers overall, you should read that as tremendous demand.
Continuing, Wilson states that coming out of the beta, and with the advantages of the tech offered by the new consoles, the publisher feels “very good” about player demand.
We did not have the level of innovation and again that we have now. We didn’t have new platform technology driving a high-fidelity gaming experience that we have now. And so net-net coming out of the beta, we feel very good about player demand, the team has been working very hard on tuning and polish and filing the game where we feel really good about the game that the committee is going to get to play on day one. And the team also has wonderful plans for the future large service. That stuff where there’s notion of [Indiscernible] nearly engaging our players deeply in the ability to create their own Battlefield experiences. And so, we feel very good and confident about the future Battlefield at this stage.
While there was a lot to like in the BF2042 beta, our own beta feedback wasn’t exactly all candies and marshmallows, as we’ve noticed some glaring stuff that needs fixing. Hopefully, most of the concerns players have regarding it are part of the list of stuff DICE has outlined regarding what they learned from the beta that are being applied to the launch build.

If players miss the redemption window, they will not be able to redeem the full contents of the customization pack, but they will still receive all PRIME ICON fighters as well as PRIME ICONS bra vanity.
As a final note, while developers concentrate their resources on future improvements to the franchise, there will be no gameplay updates for this patch. Thank you for your continued support and good luck in the Octagon!

Rejoice, true believers! Square Enix has announced today when Marvel’s Avengers PlayStation gamers will be able to play as Spider-Man! Not only did the company announce the Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man release date, but webhead swings out the same time as the Klaw Raid becomes available on November 30!
In the press release, Square Enix announced that both Spider-Man and the Klaw Raid will be available this November 30 as part of title update 2.2! Outside of Spidey and the Raid, here are some of the new improvements incoming as well:
Shipments – The Shipments feature provides an entirely new path to earn coveted cosmetics, resources, and other items strictly through gameplay, a highly requested option from the Marvel’s Avengers community. Each Shipment costs 500 Units (the currency earned while playing the game) and pulls from a collection of nearly 250 possible items, with a small chance of rewarding a premium Outfit unavailable via any other means of acquisition. But luck isn’t required to get the Outfit; players will automatically receive it after claiming 100 Shipments.
Power-Level Increase – The maximum Power Level achievable will increase from 150 to 175. Acquiring the best gear requires players to complete the game’s toughest challenge: the new four-player Klaw Raid: Discordant Sound.
Gear Upgrading – Players will be able to recycle gear of a higher power level to upgrade their current gear to match the higher-power level of the consumed item, with few exceptions.
Per the press release, here’s the official info on the Klaw Raid, and Spider-Man!
About the New Raid: Discordant Sound
Raids in Marvel’s Avengers are one of the truest tests of end-game teamwork. They require advanced tactics and the full cooperation of a four-player team equipped with the highest-end gear.
Following the events of the War for Wakanda Expansion, the sonic monster Klaw has returned to the Vibranium Mound to destroy Wakanda. Black Panther and the Avengers must stop him before he can succeed!
About Spider-Man and the With Great Power Hero Event
The legendary web slinger Spider-Man will come exclusively to PlayStation players in the November 30th update along with the Spider-Man: With Great Power Hero Event. Spider-Man’s high-flying acrobatics bring an entirely new way to experience the game either solo or with friends, and his unique movement and combat abilities are sure to be a great addition to any Strike Team taking on missions in the Avengers Initiative.
Players will experience Spider-Man’s story through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative. Peter Parker learns of a deadly new threat and must partner with the Avengers to stop AIM from acquiring technology that could make their synthoid army unstoppable. Insistent on keeping his identity hidden, Parker forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow and must struggle with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?
Once the update is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
Cryptic Studios has released the Neverwinter update 9.65 patch for consoles today, November 4, which makes this the second patch released this week! This is for an inventory fix, and nothing more. Check out the official announcement below.
Neverwinter Update 9.65 Patch Notes:
User Interface
Inventory
Various functionality that involves items, especially items in the final inventory slot, once again properly functions.
That’s about it. The patch released on November 2 had a ton more gameplay-related tweaks and content, which you can read about here.
Torn Banner has released the Chivalry II update 1.009 patch this November 4, or what the studio calls hotfix 2.2.2! This is a rather complicated patch to dissect, so best to read the developer’s explanation below.
Chivalry II Update 1.009 Patch Notes:
Good morrow knights. Our current plan of action is to release a replication fix (2.2.2) later this week to improve players teleporting, warping, and popping at various distances. Internal testing has shown noticeable improvement in this area although there are still some issues that require additional development work to resolve.
Later this month, approximately mid-November, we plan to release 2.2.3 with additional fixes largely targeting issues that were introduced in the Fight Knight update.
As the 2.2.3 patch is still in active development this is not a complete list of changes that may be included. This is only a list of fixes that we are relatively confident will make it into the patch. Such fixes are:
Riposte attacks sometimes weren’t animating to other players, causing players to damage you even when it looked like they didn’t swing
Attack not landing (swing through) that occurs when hitting someone’s missing arm while they’re attacking (more iteration is needed to resolve additional swing through cases)
Active riposte with a shield will no longer deal damage to the shield
Players getting anti-cheat kicked on console
Invisible bots occasionally spawning in LTS modes
Fixing players not be awarded score for takedowns properly
Fixing a bug in Brawl mode that delays players/bots from immediately moving when spawning
Fix for teams in Arena mode starting with an uneven amount of players
Customization related crash when mesh merging was occurring
Server crash fix
Fix for Mason players being able to stand within a collision wall that Agatha cannot reach on Fighting Pit
Removing ammo crates on Falmire LTS
We continue to investigate other issues affecting players as well. We hope to include any of these issues we can fix before the deadline to make it into 2.2.3 and we will continue to keep you updated with our progress:
Console crashes
OCE/Asia/Japan server issues
Client hitches
Player movement during and/or after being in an interrupt state not animating as expected
Remaining animation issues where animations do not play as expected
Players can expect patch 2.2.3 to be out around “mid-November” per the studio.

It’s no secret that Apex Legends has been a huge success for publisher EA and developer Respawn Entertainment. While it’s a free-to-play game, it seems this has worked in its favor, as the title has not only amassed a gigantic player base, but is even closing in on $1 billion in net bookings per year!
This was disclosed by EA CEO Andrew Wilson during the publisher’s latest quarterly earnings report. Wilson also hyped up how viewer engagement has been super strong, as well as how it’s continuing to gain steam.
Apex Legends continues to grow as one of the top franchises in the industry. A brand-new IP that has scaled to more than a 100 million players and is closing in on a billion dollars in net bookings annually. Season 9 and season 10 introspectively set new marks for the highest active players of Season one.
And Q2 was the biggest quarter of income spending in Apex that we’ve had to date. Apex is growing beyond the game as well. It was one of the most watched titles on Twitch during the quarter with more than a $130 million hours of season 10 content watched to-date, up nearly 40% from the previous season. – Andrew Wilson, EA CEO
Net bookings refers to microtransactions, which Apex Legends has for customizable items for the legends and player profiles. With money coming in like this, it’s no wonder that Respawn is doubling down on the game’s development. Speaking of which, the latest season just kicked off this week, which you can read about here.

Eidos Montreal has released the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy update 1.004 patch this November 4, and this seems to be out for both last-gen and next-gen platforms. As one might expect, this is mostly for bug fixes, and has no new content.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Update 1.004 Patch Notes:
Size: 680MB
Update:Eidos Montreal has revealed the complete patch notes!
Eidos Montreal has not released the official patch notes just yet, though the studio did release a patch for PC last week, which included the following changse (via Steam):
Fix for deadlock (black screen) on boot for some 4-core CPUs
Increased stability for extended play sessions
Once we get word on what got changed officially, we’ll be sure to update the post.
If you still haven’t played the game yet, you might want to, as it’s a real banger! It’s so good that our own Jimmy Lara has it in the running for Game of the Year, and and our review states,”The expectations that I had for this game were unsurprisingly low, and in fact, I had zero interest in even playing it. That would have been a major mistake on my part, and if you are someone who is jaded by the release of Marvel’s Avengers, rest assured Guardians of the Galaxy is everything you could want out of a Marvel Game. It’s fun, entertaining, and quite possibly one of the best games this year. I’ll say it, it might just be my personal Game of the Year.”
Update: Post has been updated with the official patch notes!

Ti Games has released the FIST Forged in Shadow Torch update 1.005 patch this November 4 (last-gen and next-gen platforms), and this seems to be for another round of fixes. Check out details on this patch below.
No official acknowledgement has come from the devs for the title update just yet, but here’s the latest update released for PC which we’re guessing includes fixes for the console patch today:
Once the full patch notes are out, we’ll be sure to update the post. If you haven’t picked the game up yet, go read our review here, where we state, “F.I.S.T. Forged In Shadow Torch rethreads a lot of familiarity of the Metroidvania genre, but it does so gracefully that fans of the genre will no doubt come to love its offering. Its challenging, fun-filled combat will undoubtedly serve as a highlight, as with it’s engaging exploration, and charming story and characters. Ti Games debut title is one not to skip out on, and is rousing continuation to the PlayStation Heroes Project, proving that you don’t need to be a big studio to pull of high production values into a game”
