Returnal Update 2.000 Shoots Out This October 7

Housemarque has released the Returnal update 2.000 this October 7, and this is an unannounced patch, though it brings the game to version 2.0, which usually suggests something significant has been added. For reference, the last patch before this was title update 1.004.001, which was released back on July 5.

Returnal Update 2.000 Patch Notes:

Oddly enough, Housemarque has not touched on the game’s patch just yet, with the latest update released by the studio talking about some of the impressive in-game stats the game has garnered so far from players.

We’re waiting for the official patch notes to be released, and once it’s out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know what’s in it. Don’t forget, if the patch notes aren’t sourced from the devs, chances are, they’re fake, so make sure to check if it’s properly sourced.

In case you didn’t know, the studio behind Returnal, Housemarque, is now part of the PlayStation Studios family! Read up on that here.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City Trailer Released

Enter the world of survival horror with a fresh new film adaptation that follows the games. The first Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer has been released, promising that it will be closer to the source material as it adapts the first two games in the series.

Here’s the long-awaited trailer showing what’s coming from the reboot.

Update: There’s a second trailer making the rounds internationally, and this one is much better than the first!

IGN also had an exclusive trailer discussion with director Johannes Roberts himself.

Starting over after the Paul W.S. Anderson films that starred Milla Jovovich as Alice, Welcome to Raccoon City will combine the events of Resident Evil 1 and 2 as the film is set primarily in 1998 and during the Raccoon City incident. Here’s the summary released by Sony Pictures.

Returning to the origins of the massively popular RESIDENT EVIL franchise, fan and filmmaker Johannes Roberts brings the games to life for a whole new generation of fans. In RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY, once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland…with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.

Accompanying the release of the trailer are two new images for Welcome to Raccoon City. You can check out the previous ones released here.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be out in theaters on November 24.

Biomutant Update 2.07 Adds Trial Mode Support This October 6

Experiment 101 has released the Biomutant update 2.07 patch this October 6, and unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to offer anything new in terms of content, and even bug fixes (even if it’s still needed).

Biomutant Update 2.07 Patch Notes:

Per the PS4 update history, it mentions that the game has added Trial mode support.

  • – Added Trial Mode support.

Yep, that seems to be it. There are no new bugs squashed or anything, and the studio has not mentioned any update at all, so don’t get your hopes up that there’s anything new for you in this patch.

Our review of Biomutant is a mixed bag, and here’s our final thoughts on it: “Biomutant is by no means a terrible game, far from it, it just feels like it never hits its full potential. It’s clear that Experiment 101 took inspiration from many games and tried to put it all in one nice package, but in the case of Biomutant there is just too much of too little. The morality system feels out of place, as do the dialogue and player’s choices, and the side quests are just there for the sake of being there. There is a good foundation, but not a lot to be held by it. Combat and its world may be the saving grace of Biomutant, but this is one mutant that might need more experimentation before it achieves its full potential.”

Amazon Games Studio’s has rolled out the New World update 1.0.1 patch this October 6. Although the game has had its share of setbacks in the form of congested servers and bugs, its proven to be a big hit among gamers with over a million players on release day, and continue to work on quality of life updates and bug fixes. Check out the patch notes below:

GENERAL

We’ve implemented the groundwork for the character server transfer, and you may see elements of that work in the in-game store. We’re continuing to work on this feature, and will have more information on how the system works later this week when we release server transfers.

WAR

Changed turret projectiles in War from physical projectiles to use hitscan detection. This should help performance in War, with fewer objects being spawned in the world.

AFK PREVENTION

In an effort to ensure players can’t stay AFK, especially in higher population servers, we’ve made the following adjustments to the AFK prevention system.

  • Added additional AFK prevention to ensure players cannot fool the existing system with simulated mouse movement.

  • Shortened the AFK warning message from 20mins to 15mins.

  • Shortened the AFK disconnect from 25mins to 20mins.

WORLD QUEUE

We added a confirmation screen when a player attempts to leave the queue for a world, asking the player to confirm if they’re intending to leave the queue. This should help ensure nobody accidentally leaves the queue and misses out on their spot in line.

BUG FIXES:

GENERAL FIXES

  • Fixed a rare issue causing the interact key to not properly function on various objects in the world.

  • Fixed an issue causing the barrel to not appear in “Pirate Stance” emote.

  • Fixed an issue where players did not receive coin as a reward from some activities.

  • Fixed a bug where interrupting the fast travel animation may cause the player’s character to become stuck inside of a house.

  • Fixed an issue in Territory Standing rewards where some localized text was missing.

  • Fixed an issue where players are asked to claim achievement titles multiple times after logging back into the game, despite already having claimed the rewards.

  • Fixed an issue causing leg animations to freeze.

  • Fixed game crashes related to the New World Twitch integrations.

  • Fixed a rare issue where players could enter state where they could not be hit by most attacks.

  • Fixed an issue where certain item containers could be looted infinitely.

  • Fixed an issue where the abandoning event notification could sometimes persist after the player abandoned the event.

AI FIXES

  • Fixed an issue causing Pastor Walsh to spawn aggressively at the Walsham point of interest (POI).

  • Fixed an issue causing enemies to spawn slower than intended in the Bullrush Wash POI.

  • Fixed an issue causing Overseer Zane to respawn slower than intended in the “Something to Prove” quest.

  • Fixed an issue where Master Zindt could have duplicated respawns at the Kannan Tomb POI.

QUEST FIXES

  • Added missing journal information about the recommended quest level for players attempting to unlock the second faction rank.

  • Fixed an issue where resetting the “Blessings of Earth” quest when you have gained any of the blessings will block progression in the Main Story Quest (MSQ).

  • Fixed an issue where the “Azoth Fulminate” quest will be unavailable to players if they first complete other Windsward quests.

  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Goodwill Squashing” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Arruda Jam” quest.

  • Fixed an issue where the barkeep conversation state in First Light can enter a state where quests cannot be obtained from the barkeep.

  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Taste for Revenge” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Predator, Prey” and “Great Expectations” quests.

  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Curse of Ebony Hawk” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Bond’s Gambit” quest.

  • Fixed an issue where completing “The Expedition into Saircor” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “One Threat at a Time” quest.

  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Strength of the Earth” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Fading Lights” and “Azure Tears” quests.

  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Twisted Metamorphosis” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Blessings of the Fallen” quest.

  • Fixed an issue where completing the “Facets of Light and Darkness” quest prevents the player from obtaining the “Descent to Frosted Slumber” and “Transmuting Iron to Dust” quests.

New World is out on PC now but Amazon Games Studio doesn’t seem to have plans to bring it to other platforms anytime soon.

PS3 and PS Vita PSN Store Will No Longer Use Credit Card or PayPal Starting October 27

PlayStation owners using older consoles will have to adjust using the online store soon, as the PS3 and PS Vita PlayStation Store will no longer use credit card or PayPal starting October 27, with the payment methods changing to reflect what still can be used universally on all platforms.

According to an update in their Important Notices page, PlayStation is planning to end credit card and PayPal support for both the PS3 and PS Vita in the PS Store. Both PlayStation legacy platforms can still access their respective PSN stores, but in order to purchase games and digital content players must either use a gift card or the amount of money they have via payment methods done in the desktop, PlayStation app, PS4, or PS5.

Starting 27th October, 2021, you can no longer use a credit or debit card, or a payment method such as PayPal, to buy digital content or add funds to your wallet when visiting PlayStation™Store on your PS3™ console or PS Vita system.

To buy digital content for your PS3 console or PS Vita system, you must first add sufficient funds to your wallet on PlayStation Store. You can add funds by redeeming a PlayStation Store gift card, using a credit or debit card, PayPal, or other available payment methods via a desktop computer, mobile device, a PS4 console or a PS5 console.

This is hardly a nuisance and more of a workaround, but it definitely shows that Sony is slowly starting to move on from the PS3 and PS Vita, and concentrate their payment method options towards their current and next-gen platforms. Gamers can still add money through gift cards and the other aforementioned methods — but using credit card or PayPal will be a thing of the past for those systems now.

Earlier this year, Sony planned to close the PlayStation Store for both the PS3 and Vita, though that call has since been rescinded due to public backlash.

Thanks, Wario64!
