Xbox Game Pass PC Version Confirmed, Here Are the First Details

If you’re a PC gamer and you think the Xbox Game Pass is something you want to see come to the platform, you’re getting your wish! Microsoft has just announced the Xbox Game Pass PC service today.

While more details will be shared at Microsoft’s E3 press conference this June 9, the company has relayed a few key details regarding the Xbox Game Pass PC service. According to Microsoft, Xbox Game Pass PC will give players unlimited access to a curated library of over 100 high-quality PC games. Publishers like SEGA, Bethesda, and more have been confirmed to be part of the program.

Microsoft plans to bring new games from Xbox Game Studios in the Xbox Game Pass for PC the same day as their global release. Over 75 developers and publishers are working with Microsoft to bring PC content to the service, with new games being added every month.

Additionally, Xbox Game Pass for PC members will receive discounts in the Microsoft Store on Windows, and up to 20 percent off on games currently in the library, and up to 10 percent off related DLC and add-ons.

Microsoft mentions that it wants to make the Xbox Game Studios PC games available in multiple stores, which of course, includes the Microsoft Store on Windows. “We believe you should have choice in where you buy your PC games,” says Microsoft.

While pricing and official release date has not been revealed yet (most likely to be revealed at Microsoft’s E3 presser as alluded to in this announcement), this is definitely a step in the right direction for Microsoft and for PC gamers.

You can read more about the announcement right here.

Marvel’s Avengers Game Will Feature Up to 4-Player Co-Op, an “Ever-Expanding” World

While we  we already know that Square Enix’s Avengers game (officially titled Marvel’s Avengers) will finally be unveiled at E3 2019, more details regarding the game have surfaced, and it confirms quite a few things about the game.

Posted on the official E3 site, but has since been pulled, the description below (via Reddit) mentions how the game will feature single-player and up to four-player co-op! Yes, the Avengers game multiplayer is now confirmed! As if there was any doubt, right? I mean the Avengers are known as a team and all that.

avengers game multiplayer

Not only is multiplayer confirmed, but it also mentions how players will be able to customize their heroes, and will need to combine powers to defend an “ever-expanding” world under constant threat, which means there most likely is a heavy online component to it as well.

The wait won’t be long now, Marvel fans should keep an eye out on this game and whether it’ll deliver on its promise, and be the Avengers game everyone has been dreaming about ever since the first team-up movie came out.

Anthem Cataclysm Update Outlined by BioWare. Luck Removed From Game & PTS Rolling Out Next Week

As part of today’s Anthem livestream, BioWare has given a huge Anthem Cataclysm update and what players can expect in terms of how long the event will be, what loot to expect, and lots more.

Thanks to Reddit user  jwp12, we have the Anthem Cataclysm update summary on what was discussed! Aside from the Cataclysm event, BioWare has taken “Luck” out of the game, and Anthem will have its own PTS (Public Test Server) which starts next week.

The Cataclysm Event

• 8 week event
• First 2 weeks: Pre-events
• 3 new missions
• New area: The Cataclysm
• New systems: Scoring, inversions, leaderboards
• New power & new rewards

A new faction is formed from the remnants of the Dominion. They trigger the Cataclysm and the freelancer has to stop it.

Pre-Event

  • The pre-event will be the first two weeks of the Cataclysm.
  • During the pre-event, gear will not be rewarded but new cosmetics will.

The Cataclysm Overview

  • The Cataclysm takes place in a new area of the map
  • The objective is to get to the boss, Vara, and kill her before time is up.
  • You earn a score along the way.
  • There will be “arenas” where you can complete objectives and increase your score and extend your timer.
  • Not every arena will be available from the start.
  • While you’re in this area, a storm is raging and you need to create “safe zones” to protect yourself from it.
  • There will be secrets and mysteries to solve in the new area.
  • There will be leaderboards so that you can compete with friends and the rest of the world.
  • You will earn currency by playing the Cataclysm and that can be spent on warchests that contain gear.
  • Warchests will rotate.
  • A feature called inversion will be active in the cataclysm.
  • Inversions are like modifiers to gameplay, e.g. increased ultimate charge rate, decreased ability cooldowns, certain weapon kills giving bonus points etc.
  • Inversions will change from time-to-time e.g. weekly, daily etc.
  • There will also be 3 new main missions that include new cinematics and progress the story.

Cataclysm loot

  • New weapons
  • New masterwork gear (different Masterwork/Legendary variants of existing gear)
  • Melee equippable slot (not items but variants, e.g. a detonator for Ranger rather than a Primer)
  • Masterwork and Legendary Support Gear
  • All NEW items will have a higher power level than existing items. Currently, the Masterwork and Legendary items are 5 levels higher.

Public Test Server

  • PTS will start next week.
  • They are looking to run it for 2-3 weeks.
  • It is PC-only.
  • It will not always be up e.g. it may be up for a couple of days, then go down for a while before coming back online.
  • If you own Anthem or have a subscription to EA Origin Premiere, you will have access to the PTS.
  • It will be a separate client that you have to download.
  • The first week will include the Cataclysm but not the rewards.
  • It’s a PTS, so it will be unfinished. It will be buggy and may crash.
  • Patch notes will be made available for changes.

Luck

  • Luck has been removed from the game.
  • All suits will now have max luck by default (90%).
  • Any exisiting luck rolls will change to armour.

Given how long BioWare has been radio silent has been regarding Anthem, I gather, players are happy to get whatever update or content the studio is releasing soon. Hopefully, it’s enough to reinvigorate the player base, and maybe rope new players in.

There’s been an Anthem patch that was released this week as well, which you can read about here.

Apex Legends Season 2 Info Revealed, The Legendary Hunt Event Announced

Excited for Apex Legends’ second season? Today, EA has revealed the first few Apex Legends Season 2 info, as well as an upcoming event for the game that starts this Tuesday!

While the full details on the Apex Legends Season 2 Battle Pass will be revealed on June 8 at 10 a.m. PST as part of the EA Play livestream, Respawn has touched on a fair bit of stuff set to come to the second season.

TL;DR on Just Some of the Coming Improvements

  • Level up via Daily and Weekly Challenges.
  • Time to Battle Pass level 100 should be significantly reduced.
  • Three additional Legendary skins added to the rewards track.
  • Three entirely new content categories replace badge and stat tracker rewards.
  • You’ll earn enough Crafting Metal rewards from the full reward track to craft a Legendary item, or whatever your heart desires.

According to Respawn, starting in Season 2, players will be able to complete a mix of daily and weekly challenges to level up your Battle Pass. Even if you’re late, the weekly challenges will still be around for you to complete ’em. Don’t expect any “wacky challenges” that will drastically warp how you play Apex Legends, though.

Respawn has also mentioned that three Legendary items will be added to the Battle Pass, and there will be a new Legendary item every 25 Battle Pass level in the premium track (level 1, level 25, level 50, level 75, and level 100).

New Cosmetic Types and No Badge or Stat Tracker Rewards on Premium Path

We removed badges and basic stat trackers completely from the premium Battle Pass rewards track for Season 2. You’ll still get a seasonal badge, but it’ll be a single, evolving badge that won’t take up any additional reward slots! We’ve kept seasonal win trackers in the free path, and they will all be earnable in the first 10 levels.

You’ll also be able to earn items from three new content categories in place of badges/trackers. We’ll be revealing details about these categories closer to the launch of Season 2.

Earn Enough Crafting Metals for a Legendary Item

We’re replacing the Voice Lines with Crafting Metal rewards. You’ll now be able to earn enough Crafting Metals (1,200) to craft the Legendary item of your choosing. So, if there’s an existing item you’ve been coveting, you’ll be able to get it in Season 2. You can still get additional Crafting Metals from the various Apex Pack rewards in the Battle Pass as well.

For those who can’t wait for more things to do in Apex Legends, The Legendary Hunt event will kick off this Tuesday, and will last two weeks.

  • Apex Elite Queue
    • Test yourself against the best with the Apex Elite queue. Make it to the Top 5 in any match to earn your way into a select queue full of other Top 5 winners.
    • Here’s the catch: in order to continue playing in the queue you will have to keep placing in the Top 5.
  • Legendary Hunt Challenge Rewards
    • Complete a set of limited-time challenges and earn new Rare, Epic, and Legendary skins.
  • Double XP Weekend
    • From Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m. PST through Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m. PST, earn double XP on base progression and Battle Pass progression.
  • Battle Pass Bonus XP
    • Finish Top 5 in any match and earn an entire Battle Pass level (once per day).
  • Legendary Hunt Store Skins
    • Every three to four days during the event, we’ll have new Legendary Hunt themed skins rotating through the in-game store for direct purchase.
  • Two Additional Legendary Skins for all Battle Pass Owners
    • Players who have the Wild Frontier Battle Pass will automatically get the Legendary Honored Prey R-301 skin.
    • Players who reach Battle Pass level 15 before the end of the event will get the Wraith Night Terror Legendary skin.

Once we know more details regarding Season 2, we’ll let you know.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 Release Date Announced, Watch the Trailer Now!

Following yesterday’s leaked early snippets of footage, and Activsion accidentally confirming that this year’s Call of Duty will indeed be called “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,” we now have the official Modern Warfare 2019 release date and it’s none other than October 25!

Watch the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 reveal trailer below:

Same as last year’s Black Ops 4 which was released in October, are we seeing Call of Duty now move permanently to the October release window rather than the first Tuesday of every November in years past? That might be the case.

More importantly than that though, what do you make of Modern Warfare? Could this rope in old school players and can it live up to the franchise’s legacy? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Ghostbusters The Video Game Remastered Coming This Year, Watch the Ghost-Bustin’ Trailer Now

Released 10 years ago, Ghostbusters The Video Game is getting the remaster treatment, and will be out this year! Developed by Terminal Reality initially, and now remasted by Saber Interactive, Ghostbusters The Video Game Remastered will once again feature the movie franchise’s main cast of actors in their respective roles, and acted as the third film in the franchise.

Check out the GhostBusters The Video Game Remastered trailer below.

No specific release date was mentioned other than “2019.” As someone who played, and finished the original one back in 2009, I’m glad the game will be seen by more people. Prepare to rope in ghosts and ghouls all the while Bill Murray and the rest banter with your character.

Prepare to be zap ghosts again later this year on the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch!

The Division 2 Update 3 Issues With NPC and AI Detailed by Ubisoft

As part of yesterday’s State of the Game for The Division 2, Ubisoft Massive has outlined The Division 2 update 3 issues that have arisen when it comes to AI and NPC in the looter shooter.

Thanks to Reddit user JokerUnique, you can check ’em out below, and as well as when players can expect them to be fixed.

NPC / AI issues that were introduced with TU3

Enemy AI Mechanics

  • The AI is still based on a behavior tree system where the NPC decides on conditions how they behave and what they do.
  • The Hunter AI of the Survival DLC was basically the foundation of the AI in The Division 2.
  • The Division 2 built on that and also had to incorporate better behaviors and a lot more Archetypes of the different factions.
  • These new hostile Archetypes also have new and unique abilities (like prone) that were not around in the first game and they also have alternative tactics. For example, when you destroy their main abilities, they attack in different ways and so on.

TU3 AI issues

There have been 2 major issues with the AI in TU3 that were interconnected and caused a lot of issues and fallouts.

  • NPC Aggressive Behavior (rushing behavior of NPCs)
    • The NPC basically lost track of the player when they started moving and that manifested itself by an NPC running past the player or running up to the player to start a melee attack.
    • But what the NPC actually wanted to do was to get behind the player. But since he lost track of the player, he basically got surprised when he found the player in his path and switched to his melee attack behavior.
    • This could happen more often in closed spaces than in open spaces, because there was less room to maneuver.
    • On top of that, since the whole AI algorithm is basically interconnected – when things like this happen, it can cause a lot of fallout and that should not be happen.
  • NPC Speed of Movement
    • Players reported that NPCs were moving too fast
    • The NPCs had a bug that they accelerated too fast and were x times faster as they should be for a brief period of time.
    • This could occur after a turn animation because there was a disagreement between server and client how fast the NPC was moving after the turn animation.
    • The other issue was broken animations because of a fix that NPCs would not clip with the environment when they were climbing stairs.
    • All that combined you had NPCs moving in unexpected ways and also had strange animations.
    • To fix that, they had to improve the communication between client and server, so that they don’t lose track of the NPC speed, introduce failsafe scenarios when problems arise and also fix the animations.

Lessons learned

  • A tactical shooter should stay tactical and there should not be a regression in AI and NPC behavior, only improvements. They are very proud of their work and don’t want to release issues like there were in TU3.
  • There was a lot of detective work to find out why the issues where introduced in TU3 and that they not happen again.

Fix Schedule

  • The vast majority of fixes will drop with TU3.1 and the second set of fixes in the patch after that.
  • So after TU3.1 the AI should be back to where it was before the issues of TU3 were introduced.

That’s quite a lot, no? There’s also a planned schedule period for tomorrow, and once it’s live, we’ll be sure to let people know.

Square Enix Avengers Game Officially Titled “Marvel’s Avengers,” and Will Be Revealed at E3

After being announced back in E3 2017 as the “Avengers Project,” we’ve heard virtually nothing from Square Enix regarding the game. Well, it seems this will change very soon as the Avengers PS4, Xbox One title will get its full reveal at E3 2019!

Announced via the official Avengers Twitter account, we now have the game’s official title, and it’s none other than “Marve’s Avengers,” which kind of anticlimactic, but then again, it’s not unusual given Sony’s Spider-Man PS4 game was plainly titled “Marvel’s Spider-Man.”

It’s also using the hashtag #PlayAvengers,” which is something people should look out for on social media. Given that Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal are both working on the game, it’s understandable to assume that this will be a big-budget, AAA title, that should showcase what Square Enix has been working on all this time.

What do you hope to see from Marvel’s Avengers? With the big-time names working on the project, I’m expecting to be blown away come June 10.

Death Stranding Multiplayer to Offer “Asynchronous” Gameplay, No Player Will Ever Cross Paths

It has been long confirmed that Death Stranding would in some way offer a multiplayer experience. And while we did receive a new trailer and a release date earlier today, there’s not a lot of info known about not only the single-player, but also regarding the game’s multplayer and what it has to offer.

As posted on the official PlayStation game-page, Death Stranding multiplayer is said to offer “Asynchronous gameplay” where players are said to never cross path with one another. They can work together by sending each other supplies, share safe houses and even be able to see where other players have been. From the rest of the details supplied we also learn that dying doesn’t offer a traditional game-over screen, but instead offers players a chance to return alive as you fight your way through what they are calling an “Upside-down Realm.”

Judging from this information, it sounds like the game will indeed maintain its focus on mostly a single-player experience with some online component that adds an extra layer to it.  In comparison to other games, it sounds a bit similar to the Dark Souls series in a sense that in those games we are able to see other players and how they died, or messages left by them, but of course minus the co-operative play and the PvP.

It also may hint that we are getting some sort of online-only events, much like Kojima’s last title, Metal Gear Solid V. For those that played the game or possibly remembered one of its features, it offered a special Nuclear Disarmament ending that was only achievable when all players in the game connected had disarmed all their nukes.

Could we possibly see something similar to this for Death Stranding?

Need for Speed 2019: No Announcements Planned at E3, Dev Team Confirms It’s Due This Year

Electronic Arts will not have any press conference during E3. In fact, the press conference will be replaced by multiple livestreams that will air during the first two days of the event. This makes players wonder about whether or not new EA games would be announced this year. Fortunately, it seems like there are still plans for Need for Speed 2019’s release. However, the NFS team doesn’t feel confident on the current state of the game to reveal any further details about it.

In a new update posted today on EA Answers by the NFS Team,  it was confirmed that while a new entry is in development, no information about it will arrive in June. In other words, there isn’t any sort of reveal trailer or information to be expected from Need for Speed 2019 during this year’s E3. “Traditions are all well and good, but they can also be broken, and new ones forged,” said the developer regarding the decision. “Just because we’ve done something one way for the last few years, doesn’t mean we should continue to do so.”

However, the development team promises that Need for Speed 2019 will still happen. “Are you going to hear more about the next NFS title? Yes. Is it being released this year? Yes. Will we be doing anything in June? No. It’s as simple as that” Said the development team. “Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events.”

Need for Speed games have a habit of launching around November. With this in mind, it’s easy to assume that Need for Speed 2019 will released around that month as well. However, with this new “Traditions can be broken” attitude by the NFS team, we could be looking at another release date entirely like October or December. Regardless of such, when new information about this elusive entry in the NFS series shows up, we won’t hesitate to tell you.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Snippets of Early Footage From Tomorrow’s Reveal Leaks Out

Update:

Here it is! The official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 reveal trailer is here along with the official release date (October 25)!

While we already know that this year’s Call of Duty will be titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and will be out in October based on the accidental leak from the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, that’s not the only thing it managed to leak out.

Before the homepage teaser got pulled, not only did it showcase the boxart and the official name, logo and release date, but it even showcased a few seconds of footage for tomorrow’s big reveal! Thankfully, a few astute gamers managed to grab parts of it before Activision took everything down.

First off, check out the few seconds of footage below (from Twitter user Strutsi) where we see soldiers in modern warfare gear jump down a plane, and in one scene, run up a car.

Next, thanks to Reddit user nehpets1999, we see the pulled teaser video for the Call of Duty YouTube homepage wjere we see two characters wearing what seems to be stealth suits infiltrating an area in the dark.

October release date! plus a couple more images from the trailer!
byu/nehpets1999 inmw4

While there’s not a lot to take away from the two snippets, what can be see from both heavily suggest that we’ll be going back to more modern and realistic characters rather than the Specalists and futuristic tech of Black Ops 4. We’ll know more for sure come tomorrow when the big Modern Warfare reveal happens at 10 a.m. PDT.

Battlefield 5 Game Modes Being Cut Out, Pit Crew Skin Issue Was a “Bug”

In the most recent Battlefield 5 Community Broadcast, DICE has announced that some Battlefield 5 game modes are being cut, and it’s mostly due to these modes not being popular enough.

Here’s what DICE had to say about the modes, and which modes are being cut:

UPDATE #2: AN UPDATE ON EXISTING GAME MODES – WHAT’S CHANGING?

Over the past several weeks, we have given a lot of thought to the topic of how many Game Modes are presently available as fixed residents in Battlefield V. Through both our own deliberations and careful review of the data available to us, we’ve decided to remove the dedicated playlists for Frontlines and Domination. This will take effect this week.

Both playlists are highlighted as being significantly less popular, and a lot less populated when compared to more established modes like Conquest. Our preference is to ensure that we are adding to the fun rather than creating frustration, and that the always on game modes in Battlefield V meet our own expectations in terms of quality.

We’re now going to be more proactive in removing the modes that don’t meet these standards, in favor of instead investing more resources in both featuring, developing, and improving newer and refreshed experiences like Rush, Grind, Fortress, and Outpost.

We believe that fans of Domination will be best served through Squad Conquest (which will be expanded to include Mercury, Narvik, and Devastation this Summer).

Frontlines will continue to exist in Grand Operations, and will still be joinable as a Grand Operation mode via the Server Browser. We’re currently exploring the possibility of redesigning Frontlines and reintroducing it at a later time, as well as cycling the mode back into the game via Tides of War. We’ll look to follow up with our thoughts around this in late June.

We may look to re-feature both of these modes in the future, as part of mixed game mode rotations that compliment new content drops ,or as weekly experiences in the Tides of War, but only if we believe that doing so would add something positive to your game experience.

Conquest, Squad Conquest, and Team Deathmatch otherwise remain as they are today, and will continue to support alongside the Tides of War. We are taking a look at Breakthrough and Grand Operations to see what improvements we can make to these modes, but we’re happy to keep these in the active rotation for now as we can see how popular they are.

I’ll also mention that this week we’re creating a dedicated Mercury Playlist, which begins on Conquest, and switches to Breakthrough. We missed out on doing this back when Panzerstorm launched, and we appreciate everyone that fed back on this so that we could make it happen this time around.

Next week we’ll swap this 64 Player Mercury only playlist for a playlist that stays on Mercury, but features other, smaller modes.

Similar to what we’ve done with Conquest and Breakthrough recently, we’re also keen to remix the order in which you play maps on TDM and Squad Conquest to ensure that your sessions on each server are longer, and more fun. We welcome any suggestions that you might have here on Reddit, on the official Battlefield ForumsTwitterFacebook, or Discord.

Also of note, remember when we posted that story last week where a soldier skin was originally obtainable via in-game currency, but was then made to be only be obtainable via microtransactions? Apparently, that was a “bug” according to DICE.

Some may recall that during Battlefield V Overture, this skin became available for a short time for Company Coins and the skin was also classified as Uncommon.

This was a bug and not intended.

This skin was removed from the Armory as it was not tagged correctly nor did it show the correct value of the skin.

With the recent Armory update, we brought the Pit Crew soldier customization set back at its originally intended classification and Battlefield Currency value.

The Battlefield Team

Finally, DICE has mentioned that we’ll soon get news regarding an increase in rank! Here’s what to expect from DICE in the next seven days in terms of communications and updates.

  • Ranks Increase – I will be back before Friday this week to tell you all about this. For real this time. I’ve been waiting to get confirmation on when exactly to expect the changes that we’ll be announcing this week before bringing you the full details. We’re now confident that we have that so on Thursday or Friday, you’ll get all of that info straight from me.
  • Stuttering and Performance – Our QA teams are getting closer to nailing down the issues causing this problem, and then proposing a fix with our development teams. I’m in Stockholm all week working with the team on this one, so by no later than next Tuesday I’ll have a full update for you all on this topic. For now, please know that we are working on this as a high priority.

Of course, the Battlefield 5 news doesn’t stop there. Just yesterday, we posted a big leak regarding the US and JP factions and how the respawn feature is coming to Firestorm.

Report: COD 2019 Confirmed to Be Called Modern Warfare, Release Date Due October; Here’s the Box Art

Update:

The official release date is October 25! Check that out along with the official reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare right here.

It’s been rumored before that Call of Duty 2019 will officially be called “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,” and with the reveal set to happen tomorrow, it seems we now have confirmation that it is indeed the title!

Over on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel, Activision initially had the image below on the homepage for tomorrow’s big reveal, and in it, you can clearly see “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,” and the date of October 18 (or 13? 22?) written below it. Activision has since pulled the video image, but thankfully, Reddit user yOuRbEaRdIsWeIrDhuh managed to screengrab it first.

While the date below is blurry, you can pretty much make out “October” in it, and given that October 13 is a Sunday, it’s highly unlikely that’s the COD 2019 release date. Most likely, it’s October 18, since that falls on a Friday, or it can be the 22nd as well since that’s a Tuesday.

The wait isn’t long now, but at least now we know that this year’s Call of Duty will be out in October (same as in Black Ops 4), and it’s boxart seems to be showcasing one character, which could very well be the protagonist.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the official reveal.
