Console-Only Crossplay Finally Being Implemented With the Start of Black Ops 6 Season 3

[summaraize]

Are you one of the many players tired of playuing against PC players in Call of Duty games? It’s not just the advantage of a mouse and keyboard, but cheaters almost always come from PC due to the open nature of the platform.

Well, it seems Activision has finally caved in. After years of requests by Call of Duty players, the publisher is finally implementing console-only crossplay in Black Ops 6 with the start of Season 3!

Black Ops 6 Console-Only Crossplay Applies to Multiplayer and Warzone

As part of the Season 3 patch notes, Activision has confirmed that console-only crossplay is coming on April 2!

In Season 03, we’re giving console players more granular options by separating the MP Ranked Play and Call of Duty: Warzone Ranked Play settings and adding a new Multiplayer-only setting for Quickplay, Featured, and Party Games matches.

Each of these three settings (Multiplayer Ranked Play, Call of Duty: Warzone Ranked Play, and Multiplayer Unranked) will include the following options:

  • On: Enables matchmaking with all gaming platforms when playing in the selected playlists.
  • On (Consoles Only): Enables matchmaking only with other consoles when playing in selected playlists.
    • May negatively impact matchmaking queue times.
  • Off: Restricts matchmaking to your current gaming platform only in selected playlists.
    • Will negatively impact matchmaking queue times.

Additional details on how these settings interact with party members who are on different platforms.

  • Players in a party who all belong to the same console platform will matchmake with the party leader’s preferred cross-play settings.
  • Players who have selected “Cross-Play Off” and create a mixed platform party that includes a different console platform will have their cross-play settings temporarily adjusted to “Cross-Play On (Consoles Only)” to enable matchmaking. This temporary adjustment enables matchmaking for the duration of the mixed platform party, and disbanding this party will result in preferred matchmaking settings being restored.
  • Players who have selected “Cross-Play Off” and create a mixed platform party with a PC player will have their cross-play settings temporarily adjusted to “Cross-Play On.” This enables matchmaking for the duration of the mixed platform party, and disbanding this party will result in preferred matchmaking settings being restored.
  • Reminder: Adjusting Cross-Play settings may negatively impact matchmaking queue times.

This is definitely good news — at least for console players. Unless you’re playing with someone on PC, there’s realy no reason for console players to enable full crossplay. I mean, unless they miss the cheaters and whatnot.

The patch download should start tomorrow for PS4, PS5 players, with the PC and Xbox getting it on April 2.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Will Let You “Peep” on Eva Confirmed

[summaraize]

If you’ve played and finished Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater when it was originally released and wanted to check out “more” of the game, chances are, you unlocked the secret “Peep Demo Theater” to scope some of the most interesting parts of the game.

We’re glad to say that for those interested in the feature, it will be available in Metal Gear Solid Delta! While not officially announced, it was revealed by the game’s Entertainment Software and Ratings Board (ESRB) rating that surfaced today.

You’ll Be Able to “Peep” Aside From Sneaking in Metal Gear Solid Delta

Metal Gear Solid 3 Eva Voice

The ESRB rating is “M” for Mature, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. The summary reads: “This is an action game in which players assume the role of an elite soldier trying to stop special forces behind enemy lines. From a third-person perspective, players infiltrate areas, complete missions, and take down enemy soldiers. Players use knives, pistols, machine guns, and explosives to kill enemies. Combat is highlighted by realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and blood-splatter effects. Some close-quarter combat allows players to slit enemies’ throats, resulting in large spurts of blood. Cutscenes depict further instances of violence/blood: a restrained character beaten and electrocuted; a character shot in the eye; a character on fire shot several times. The game contains some suggestive/sexual content: a man groping a woman’s breasts; close-up cameras angles of deep cleavage; a character briefly groping a man’s crotch; a Peep Demo Theatre allowing players to view cutscenes of a female character’s body from a first-person perspective.”

If you want to see how it looked on the original before, there’s a video of it floating online (might be NSFW). If you’re unfamiliar with the Peep Show in Demo Theater, it’s a secret mode in MGS3. and to unlock it, players will need to view all the cutscenes in the game, which means playing through the story multiple times and getting all optional and variation cutscenes, including both openings. Once unlocked, it lets players play back the cutscenes from the main game at your convenience.

It’ll take a lot of work, but it might be worth it for some with extra time and are properly motivated.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snaker Eater launches on August 28 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and the Deluxe Edition will give you a 48-hour early access and other goodies.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Hands-On Preview – Slayer Brought Some New Toys

It has been over four years now since we’ve seen a new mainline DOOM game, but the day is almost upon us, with DOOM: The Dark Ages due for release this coming May. Ahead of said release, publisher Bethesda Softworks invited MP1st for some hands-on time with the game.

We can now finally talk about it, and we have our preview ready to let you know how the latest of Doomguy/Slayer’s adventures is shaping up.

Single-Player Only

First of all, our hands-on was entirely offline. Or, perhaps, at least only a solo effort – there is no multiplayer component for DOOM: The Dark Ages, as this is intended to be a single-player game, despite there being a versus in the last. At any rate, I imagine the newfangled shield saw would be quite difficult to balance in multiplayer combat. After spending some time with it, though, I think it would be fun to test it out against other players. More on that unique item momentarily.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is built using the id Tech 8 engine, and on the desktop systems we were on, at least, it ran buttery smooth. I’m sure we were on at least an RTX 4090 combined with other high-spec hardware, and of course your experience will vary depending on what hardware you’re rolling with if you’re on PC, but at least with id Tech, there should be a good baseline performance for most players.

As a first-person shooter, DOOM: The Dark Ages plays wonderfully with a keyboard and mouse, though a controller was also provided and used during our hands-on for a chapter or so. Whatever way you play, controls are pretty standard stuff here, though the shield saw does require some extra inputs in order to utilize properly, and new melee weapons also add some complexities. By holding the right mouse button, the player blocks incoming attacks from the front. While blocking, you can use the shield as a battering ram, which will quickly slam you into any targeted enemy in front of you. This shield can also be used like a disc, which is important in the occasional puzzle you might come across. In the chapters we played, the puzzle sections were quick, used simply as a brief change of pace (and perhaps also as a respite against dozens of enemies at a time). Combined with the new melee options, DOOM’s combat has immediately become more versatile.

Flailing Gauntlet, Gory Executions

An item called a gauntlet is given early in the campaign and it can be used to perform melee combos. It has a limited number of charges, which get filled slowly over time naturally, but more quickly with each enemy kill. Indeed, DOOM: The Dark Ages rewards playing aggressively, as enemies will drop health and ammo when killed via combos. The gauntlet can also be combined later with the flail, which deals more devastating damage and can stun larger enemies. Changing between traditional weapons at various ranges and up-close brutality is a seamless transition that is fun to experience over and over as you decimate hundreds of enemies.

Certain larger enemies can fire projectiles at you, some of which are target-seeking. Some of those projectiles glow in a different color to indicate that you can parry them and send them back to their sender, dealing damage that otherwise might have been inflicted on you. It’s a great way to dish out extra damage to those bigger enemies, who in most situations should be taken out ahead of any peons in the area.

One thing I loved about my time with DOOM: The Dark Ages was its fast pace. Any time I stepped out onto a battlefield (which was obvious as they were mostly open spaces), I very quickly had to decide which enemy or group of enemies to attack and wing it from there. Though I was playing on the normal difficulty level, called “Hurt Me Plenty,” it would still take no time to die, even against basic enemies. Checkpoints felt forgiving enough in that they only sent you back a couple of minutes at most, giving you a few moments to consider a different strategy as you work towards the section that killed you last time. Or not – the open nature of most battles meant you didn’t necessarily have to take on that large, winged demon right away if you didn’t want to. You can also collect life sigils, which will be automatically consumed if you lose all your health, to respawn where you died.

An Exciting Change of Pace

While most of our time with DOOM: The Dark Ages took place on the ground, a couple of unique sections completely changed the game’s feel. First, the Slayer was placed inside a giant mech-like machine called the Atlan. This machine had slower movement animations but plenty of firepower, which you definitely need against the huge, building-sized enemies in this section. It wasn’t a very tough area but a cool part you could thrash about with and cause large-scale devastation wherever you walked. Our second departure from the more traditional trigger-happy combat sections involved a dragon we mounted. This became a flying section, which, of course, will divide some players depending on how much they enjoy flight mechanics. However, this section was split up because your task was to board a handful of Hell Carriers. These served as flying battleships, and once you took out their defenses, you’d board them via an opening. The game would then shift back to the traditional firefight combat DOOM is known for, and at the end of the sequence, you’d cause catastrophic damage to the flying fortress and jump your way out onto your awaiting dragon, mid-air. It kind of reminded me of the Railjack missions in Warframe, only somehow even more badass.

DOOM: The Dark Ages felt like an exciting return to simpler times with plenty of modern conveniences. The shield saw is a fun change to simply shooting up nearly everything that moves, including ranged combos that felt satisfying to execute, and relatively easy to grasp.

Fans of first-person shooters in general, and those of DOOM especially should be ready to have a blast when DOOM: The Dark Ages launches on May 15, 2025 on Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Battlefield Labs Playtest Session 2 Stats Revealed; Session 3 Starts This Week

[summaraize]

While a ton of Battlefield 2025 info has made its way out of the second playtest session, DICE is already to start the next Battlefield Labs playtest this week (session 3) and we now know exactly when.

Not only that, but DICE has also shared the playtest session 2 stats, what they’re aiming for, and even a reminder to the participants.

Battlefield Labs Playtest Session 3 Starts on April 4

battlefield leaks

In a message on the Battlefield Labs Discord channel (shared by members of the community), DICE outlined some of the key stats they noticed on the second session of the playtest.

  • Road accidents account for 33% of all car kills, making them an important method of elimination.
  • Vehicle-to-vehicle combat was noticeable, with 17% of all vehicle destructions caused by other vehicles.
  • IFVs made a significant contribution, accounting for 7.7% of the total kills during this session.
  • The RPG dominated as a countermeasure, achieving a remarkable 61.3% kill rate against the CV90 and Bradley.
  • The Repair Tool was a surprise choice, accounting for 0.3% (4 kills!) of all IFV kills.

As for the BF Labs playtest session 3, it’s set to kick off on April 4, 19:00 to 21:00 CEST/16:00 to 18:00 PST. Check your emails in case you got in this time around. DICE states for the third session that they’ll continue to focus on “combat tempo,” “time to kill,” and “time to die.”

Alongside the schedule announcement, DICE also issued a reminder to the NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) signed by the participants.  The message reads, “As we close this review, we want to remind you that the NDA you agreed to actively applies to Battlefield Labs. Recent violations, including email, information, and gameplay sharing, have resulted in multiple account suspensions, as well as permanent removals from all aspects of Battlefield Labs, and subsequent follow-up with our legal team against violators. We will continue to enforce these rules and respond appropriately to violations in all future tests.”

One of the things leaked in the session 2 test was the existence of a battle royale mode, which isn’t confirmed for the game yet, though it seems likely it’ll be part of it come launch.

For everything Battlefield, keep it locked here on MP1st.

New Battlefield Battle Royale HUD, Missions and More Leaked via BF Labs

[summaraize]

While we don’t even know the title of the new Battlefield game being developed by DICE and three other EA-owned studios, more and more info about the game has come to the surface thanks to the Battlefield Labs playtest leaks.

Not only have people leaked footage about the multiplayer, but it has been datamined as well, which has led to another layer of information leak. This time, the datamined info confirmed the existence of an in-development battle royale mode that should be part of the new Battlefield game.

Before diving into the info, remember that these are from datamined files, and as such, could be leftover code from past games or ideas, and there’s no guarantee we’ll see it appear in the new Battlefield game. Got that? Good.

New Battlefield 2025 Battle Royale Info Spotted in BF Labs Playtest Client

Battlefield 2025 First Test

The info comes from the 1|BF group who has shared datamined info and even screenshots of the unconfirmed battle royale mode. It looks like there will be “Gauntlet Missions” in the mode, and we have some of the names of those objectives and what players will need to do to complete them.

Gauntlet missions

VENDETTA
Protect targeted squadmates and eliminate key enemy operatives who could compromise the mission.

ELIMINATE HOSTILES
Capture Points and Kill Hostiles

RODEO
Seize a tank and keep it out of hostile hands.

HOTWIRE
Race to Capture Zones and destroy Hostile Vehicles.

EXTRACTION
Collect Data Drives and deliver them to an Extraction Point.

DECRYPTION
Collect and Decrypt as many Beacons as possible.

HEIST
Retrieve classified intel and deliver it to squad HQ.

CIRCUIT
Capture control nodes to build your network.

TERRITORY
Secure vital locations for combat dominance.

There are also alleged images of the HUD and tutorial of the battle royale mode.

A Battlefield game featuring a battle royale mode isn’t anything new, as Battlefield V had the short-lived Firestorm battle royale that fizzled out fast. While the Battlefield franchise looks like it’s the perfect game to adapt to the battle royale genre,  DICE fumbled on BFV’s release, which translated to Firestorm, and the rest is history.

We’re hoping DICE nails this battle royale mode out of the park, if it does come with the new Battlefield game. That said, the excitement for the genre has wanted significantly from years past, as even Call of Duty: Warzone is in dire straits right now. It’s not a question whether Battlefield vets will embrace this new battle royale, but do gamers even care about the genre outside of the big three (Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone)? Your guess is as good as mine, but as long as the battle royale mode doesn’t hamper the development of the multiplayer mode, then fans should be OK with it, right?

In other Battlefield news, if you’re wondering why the leaks all look like they were filmed using a potato, there’s a good reason for that as explained by the leakers.

Tekken 8 Season 2 Balance Changes Expands Heat System, Tweaks Throw Mechanics

[summaraize]

Bandai Namco is about to release a new Tekken 8 patch in the next few days, and this will house balance changes for the roster. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait until the update download is out to know what’ll be in it, as the developers have revealed the Tekken 8 Season 2 balance changes ahead of release.

The Season 2 patch will be available on April 1 (March 31 for those living in PST),  and will be rolled out during an hours-long maintenance period as in other major patches for the game.

Tekken 8 Version 2.00 Season 2 Balance Changes

About Battle System Adjustment Policy for V2.00

In Season 1, offensive options utilizing the Heat System had become somewhat formulaic, making it difficult for players to express their individual playstyles.

Additionally, the advantages for the attacking player during Heat state were often too great, leading to one-sided match developments-an issue we’ve acknowledged.

With that in mind, Season 2 introduces a wide range of updates to the battle system and significant adjustments and new moves for each character, based on the following three guiding principles.

[Season 2 Adjustment Policy]

1) Expanding Strategic Options with the Heat System

Activating Heat provides a major advantage, creating opportunities to pressure opponents with mid/low mix-ups. However, characters lacking strong standing low attacks have been unable to fully capitalize on this advantage.
To address this, we’ve made it possible to transition into a crouching state after a successful Heat Engager hit by inputting ↘, ↓, or ↙, giving players more options to apply pressure.

Additionally, certain characters can now perform Heat Smash or Heat Burst from unique stances, enhancing combo variety and mind games during neutral.
For characters who previously had limited tactical options during Heat, we’ve introduced new Heat-exclusive moves to make their Heat state more appealing and dynamic.

2) Rebalancing Offense and Defense Within the Heat System

To address overly one-sided match dynamics, we’ve reduced chip damage across the board during Heat state, where its impact was most pronounced.
Additionally, in endgame scenarios, it had become common to secure K.O.s by landing chip damage via Heat Dash followed by a quick finishing move—limiting creative decision-making.
To improve this, we’ve lowered the additional chip damage when Heat Dash is blocked.

We’ve also made adjustments to how recoverable health works: now, even damage taken while grounded will leave recoverable gauge.
This not only softens the offensive pressure of Heat but also makes its defensive merits more tangible, giving defending players more opportunities to recover and fight back.

Moreover, Heat Dash has long had numerous benefits, particularly when used from Heat Engagers with Power Crush properties.
However, this created a gap in power between characters and often led to unbalanced mind games.
To address this, we’ve removed the Power Crush property from most Heat Engagers—or replaced them with other moves—except in a few cases where it’s part of a character’s identity.
(Exceptions include characters like Jack-8, Kuma/Panda, and Leo, whose unique stances retain Power Crush properties on their Heat Engagers.)

3) Improvements in controls to bolster defensive techniques and provide more enjoyable play

Historically in Tekken, it was not possible to sidestep toward the foreground while in a crouching state.
This created situations where, for example, a string that could be avoided from the 1P side (left) became unavoidable from the 2P side (right)—leading to imbalances in mind games unrelated to player skill or knowledge.

In Season 2, this issue has been resolved: players can now sidestep toward the screen even while crouching, ensuring that movement options are consistent regardless of side.

Additional quality-of-life improvements include:

  • Input buffering at the start of rounds, allowing players to execute a move the instant the round begins.

  • Input buffering for sidesteps (e.g., ↘/↙ or ↗/↖) even during recovery or stunned states, so players can buffer movement and execute it seamlessly once able to act.

These changes aim to improve the overall responsiveness and fluidity of control, helping players of all levels enjoy the game more comfortably.

[Regarding Future Adjustments]

Additionally, in order to address issues pertaining to the large frame advantage on Heat activation and the excessive strength of Heat Dash, the development team is currently in the final stages of making adjustments geared towards reevaluating aspects that impact the strength of offense, and also a focus on improvements in defense.

(These adjustments are scheduled to be completed by the opening of TWT 2025 on May 9th.)

Throw Mechanic Adjustment Based on Community Feedback

[Changes to Throw Mechanics]

In Season 2, to address the difficulty of countering throws, the following adjustments have been implemented:

1) Loosening the Input Window for Throw Breaks Using ‘*’
Adjustment Intent:
This change aims to reduce instances where players fail to break throws despite successfully predicting them, particularly due to the difficulty of executing simultaneous button presses.

2) Increased Recovery for whiffed Normal Throws (* / *)
Adjustment Intent:
By increasing the recovery on whiff by “6F,” players will have an easier time punishing opponents who miss their throws, especially when using crouches or backdashes to evade.

However, considering that throws are often ineffective against opponents who can react and break them upon seeing the animation, additional benefits are being provided to the player attempting the throw.

3) When a throw break is successfully performed, the thrower will recover 1 point of recoverable health.

4) When a throw break is successfully performed, the player that was grabbed will receive 5 points of recoverable health damage.

[Revised Adjustment After Community Feedback]

After the initial announcement, the development team received feedback from players and reconsidered one of the proposed adjustments.
It was concluded that imposing a disadvantage on the defender for executing a successful throw break would be excessive, as throw breaking is a high-skill mechanic that reflects a player’s practice and proficiency.

As such, the following spec will be scrapped in an upcoming patch:

4) When a throw break is successfully performed, the player that was grabbed will receive 5 points of recoverable health damage.

Note: While these changes will be applied as soon as possible, there might be a slight delay following the release of v2.00.
The adjustments are scheduled to be completed before the opening of TWT 2025 on May 9th.

No word whether Bandai Namco has other gameplay-related changes planned for the Season 2 patch, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see some general bug fixes and whatnot rolled out as well.

Once Bandai Namco releases the patch, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Finding an RTX 5090 in Store Is Becoming Easier, Only Because Prices Have Now Been Jacked Up

[summaraize]

I recently strolled through my local Micro Center, a brick-and-mortar store that has become a haven for PC builders. Surprisingly, typically out-of-stock GPUs remained in stock after the morning lines had diminished.

The last months have been pretty hectic with the recent GPU launches, but it seems things have finally begun slowing down. Little did I know that the reasoning isn’t because stock is becoming healthy, specifically for the RTX 5000 lines of GPUs. No, it’s because the cards have seen a near 50% markup before scalper pricing, with even the elusive RTX 5090 now becoming common to see sitting on store shelves.

Despite the Price Gouging, These GPUs Are Still Selling, Just at a Slower Rate

RTX 5090

If you’ve been in a Micro Center recently or browsed the Nvidia subreddit, chances are you’ve seen the post showing a bunch of RTX 5090 cards still sitting on the shelves at a Dallas-based Micro Center. This is somewhat surprising considering that Dallas is ranked as the 9th biggest city in the USA, and the traffic that goes through there daily would have had you thinking that these cards would have been swooped up immediately. Mind you, upon checking for inventory via the Dallas website for Micro Center, these cards have been completely sold out now as of March 28th, though such a site of what appears to be a decent amount of cards is a rare one to see.

Microcenter Dallas got tons of 5090 Astral Liquid’s in today
byu/pagusas innvidia

Funny enough, the local Micro Center here in Minnesota, one that has seen a line during nearly every opening day since the RTX 5090 launched, still had some RTX 5090, and even RTX 5080 when I was in there early morning yesterday. They were the same models in the picture above, the ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Astral LC Overclocked Liquid Cooled 32GB GDDR7. A comparable amount of them were sitting on the shelves, with the count dropping to four right around 2:00 PM central, and upon closing, per the local inventory check on the website, the store only managed to sell one more of these cards. They did end up selling out the following day, but it’s telling how much the demand has slowed down for the GPUs.

There’s a good reason, though, not because everyone who wanted one got one or that Nvidia and partners have managed to keep up with supplies. Nope, it’s been quite the opposite, as the supply chain is still pretty bad outside of the RTX 5070 line, that’s been a tough sell compared to AMD’s recently released RX 9700 cards. It’s because the prices of the RTX 5090, and even RTX 5080, have gotten outrageously high. That same ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Astral LC Overclocked Liquid Cooled 32GB GDDR7 costs a whopping $3,719.99 before taxes. For comparison, the original MSRP for this variant was $3,099.99. A near $700 markup is happening at a retailer before scalpers get their hands on it to jack it up even further.

Other cards on the shelves from previous days were also well over $3K, though the markup from their MSRP wasn’t as severe as the Astral LC.

Variants of the RTX 5080 cards are also common on store shelves. Our local Micro Center had plenty of them in stock yesterday, but that number has dropped to only a few as of today.

You can see they, too, are also suffering from marked-up pricing.

Ultimately, this tells us that while some will still pay the outrageous pricing, many are now sitting it out with the hopes of things returning to MSRP. That, or they’re moving on to AMD, who, while it hasn’t been immune to the price increases (the RX 9700 series is also above MSRP now), is still offering a cheaper card that boasts some pretty solid performance for the price.

Remedy Explains Difference of AA to AAA Games to the Studio

[summaraize]

While gamers might be familiar with the term “AAA” (triple A) when it comes to games, the term “AA” (double A) isn’t used as much. AAA games refer to big-budget games like Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2, while AA games are in line with titles such as the studio’s in-development project, FBC: Firebreak.

If you’re sometimes confused how studios classify a game as AAA or AA, you’re not the only one.

Remedy Entertainment Explains AAA and AA Games

Speaking to MP1st in an exclusive interview, we asked the studio about the differences between AAA and AA games.

MP1st: Remedy has said FBC: Firebreak is AA. What constitutes a game to be classified as AA? Its launch sale price? Smaller team? I mean, we want to say the development budget, but those are almost always never made public.

Thomas Puha, Communications Director: “Good question. The whole AA and AAA “classifications”, what do those really mean?

For us it means the cost of the game’s development, meaning the budget, the development team size and the amount of content and features we ship on day 1. These are all intricately linked to each other.

Then there’s things like, we aren’t doing a lot of VO localized into lots of different languages, being more economical there, which is easier when you don’t have cut-scenes which are some of the most expensive things to do in video games. The aim as always is put out as great of a game as possible.”

We’re uncertain if other studios classify AA games the same as Remedy, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they did. While FBC: Firebreak might be classified as a AA game, that doesn’t mean it’ll be any less fun and engrossing. Based on our preview, Remedy is on the right track to pull off its first multiplayer-focused title when it releases in the summer of this year.

One advantage of not being a AAA game? FBC: Firebreak is promising great visuals, but it won’t need to run on a monster PC according to Remedy.

Stay tuned to our full interview with Remedy hitting the site very soon.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Has No Connection to Past Games; Not an Open World and Its Length Reflects That

[summaraize]

The newest Onimusha, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, may be more of a “reboot” than a sequel, as it’s been confirmed that it won’t have connections to previous games, and players won’t need to have played past games in the franchise to understand what’s happening.

Not only that, but if you’re tired of open world games, we have good news for you, as it’s been confirmed that Way of the Sword will be more of a linear experience.

New Onimusha: Way of the Sword Details Confirms Story Length, Puzzles, and More

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Famitsu has just published a brand-new interview with Akihito Kadowaki, the Producer of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Satoru Nihei, the Director of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The interview revealed all kinds of new details about the upcoming title, which will be released next year.

We’ve summarized several of those details in a list below to make things easier and shorter to read.

  • The game will likely have a CERO Z rating (18+) in Japan, though they’ll have options to turn off blood splatter and dismemberment.
  • Because this is the first entry in 20 years, they decided to have no connection to prior games for new fans to be able to experience without prior knowledge.
  • They hint at an appearance of Sasaki Kojiro, one of Miyamoto Musashi’s famous rivals.
  • Miyamoto Musashi will have companions during his journey. They confirm one based on real historical figures.
  • Demons are originally designed.
  • A parry system is confirmed, with he sword even temporarily powering up.
  • Shown off in the trailer was being able to pick up environments. These can be used in a number of ways, with one such using a table as cover.
  • Special moves work in a similar function as tactical shells from previous games.
  • The only weapon to be confirmed for the game is a sword. It will have a variety of weapons.
  • The team is making adjustments to the difficulty to ensure it’s not too easy but also wants to be able to cater to a wider audience.
  • No decision on the difficulty options has been made yet.
  • Still undecided, but they believe the game will take roughly 20 hours to beat.
  • Puzzles are coming back.
  • The game is stage-based, meaning you advance through it by completing them. It’s not open-world.
  • At the moment, they are not planning to use someone famous to make a theme song for the game.

Other tidbits of information were shared, such as the face model’s background and the decision to pick them, but I believe these are the biggest things to come out of the interview. So far, I’m liking what’s been confirmed and said about the game, though I do hope they find the right difficulty level to make it challenging enough.

Thankfully, they have plenty of time to do that, as Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to arrive sometime in 2026. It will be released on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In the meantime, we’ll have Onimusha 2 remaster to look forward to when it releases on May 23, 2025.

Fortnite Down and Won’t Load Any Modes on March 29, as Epic Working on Fix

[summaraize]

It’s the weekend, and if you were planning on loading into Fortnite’s various modes, and it won’t load, it’s not your ‘net connection, but Fortnite is down on March 29. This comes on the first weekend that we got the OG Season 3 rollout that was pushed earlier this week.

While you might be able to load the game, you won’t be able to load any mode, or you’ll experience the lobby is bugged.

Fortnite Modes Won’t Load Properly for Players on March 29 (Update 2)

Update 2: It seems we spoke too soon. Epic has acknowledged that players are having issues logging in, matchmaking and selecting a game. The studio is currently investigating and will have an update later today.

Update: And just like that, matchmaking and lobby issues have been fixed per Epic!

Players have reported an outage hours ago, and it seems to be getting sorted slowly, though some have mentioned that they were able to play for a bit, and then the servers melted again.

Epic Games has confirmed the outage stating, “We’re working to fix an issue where players are unable to matchmake or select games in the lobby.” The last update from the company was two hours ago, where the studio mentioned, “Matchmaking Offline Update: we’re still working to bring matchmaking back online for all players affected.”

With the server issues, Epic has postponed the OCE Div CUp Final and will announce a rescheduled date at a later date. Once we know  or if Epic provides an update, we’ll mark it in the article.

If you can load or play Fortnite, leave a comment below and let us know which modes are working for you, what platform you’re in and where you’re connecting from.

New Battlefield Game Concept Art Leaks Giving Players Hope DICE’s on the Right Track

[summaraize]

While we’ve already gotten loads of pre-alpha gameplay footage from Battlefield Labs, another new leak has surfaced today, and this one features concept art fo the new Battlefield game, that’s still-untitled as of today.

The concept art shots give us a look at the theme DICE and the rest of the EA studios are going with for this new Battlefield, and they also give us a peek at some of the potential multiplayer maps.

Battlefield 2025 Concept Art Surfaces Giving Us a Peek at the Theme

new battlefield community testing

There’s a good chance that some of the concept art pertains to the single-player campaign in development, though we can’t be certain of that. We’ve been told the concept art are the loading screens players will see in the Battlefield Labs playtest, and if they are, they are gorgeous!

If you’ve seen the playtest footage and read the info we’ve shared here on MP1st, it seems like DICE is on the right track with the game, and these concept art shots further give us hope DICE is on the right track this time around. There are no specialists, crazy skins or anything goofy that some shooters rely on now for appeal. It looks like a military first-person shooter through and through. Check out the entire lot in the gallery below (images via the 1|BF Telegram channel).

It looks impressive, right? Mind, these are just concept art and are not really representative of the final game. That said, what’s there looks downright perfect for the franchise, and we’re hoping this is the direction the final game represents.

Given that we’re just in the private playtest now, there’s more Battlefield news waiting to surface. Let’s hope EA reveals the title and release date of the game soon.

The new Battlefield game is being developed by DICE, Criterion, Motive Studio and Ripple Effect, and is slated for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Expect more Battlefield coverage here on MP1st.

Report: First Look at Respawn and Bit Reactor’s Star Wars Turn-Based Tactics Game

Recently, Lucasfilm confirmed that the upcoming Star Wars Celebration, a major event for the franchise set to take place next month, will feature the first look at a new Star Wars turn-based tactics game. This game was first revealed in early 2022 and is the result of a collaboration between Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor, a studio founded by veterans of the XCOM franchise.

According to the Star Wars website, the game will be unveiled during a one-hour panel at the event on April 19th, so it’s only a matter of weeks before we know the first details of the game. But if that’s still a long time for you to wait, then you’re in luck, as we’ve just found some previously never-seen pictures offering a sneak peek into the game’s gameplay and UI.

Star Wars Tactics Game From Bit Reactor and Respawn First Screenshots and Info

The images, part of a Bit Reactor artist’s portfolio, are dated to mid-2023, indicating that they belong to an early build of the game. Internally, the game is known by the codename “Bruno,” and the gameplay screenshots showcase elements common to the turn-based genre, like an isometric view and a party of characters.

The screenshots showing gameplay depict two Mandalorians and a droid taking cover from Stormtroopers during a prisoner rescue mission. The interface reveals items that the player can use, such as thermal detonators and smaller, deployable droids. Other images explore UI design concepts, including a menu (using the codename as a placeholder for the title) and what seems to be a hub area located in a place called Kafrene Mining Colony. The hub options include: Armory, Holotable, Special Ops, and Black Market.

One noteworthy aspect is that the menu images display a distinct aesthetic compared to those showing gameplay. This contrast suggests they might represent two stylistic pitches for the game: one leaning towards a darker, moodier tone, and the other opting for a cleaner, minimalist design.

Unfortunately, the artist’s portfolio does not make it clear which platforms the game will be released on, but the UI shows us controller buttons, so we can expect it to be released on the usual current platforms, such as PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, without ruling out a possible release on the upcoming Switch 2.

Even though these images are approximately a year and a half old, it’s reasonable to expect that the core gameplay mechanics will likely be similar to what’s shown, even if visuals have evolved since this build. The good news is that with the event, which kicks off on April 19, just around the corner, fans won’t have to wait long for an official look at the game.

Nintendo Switch 2 Rumored to Let Players Use Switch 1 as a Second Controller and Screen

[summaraize]

Nintendo has finally confirmed that the mysterious new Joy-Con button on the Nintendo Switch 2 is, in fact, the C button, as many had speculated. This confirmation comes through the newly released Nintendo Today! app, where an image clearly shows the C marking on the button.

When the Switch 2 was first revealed earlier this year, images of the new Joy-Con didn’t show any lettering on the button, which led to much speculation. Some wondered if this button might be used for functions like casting the Switch 2 to a TV wirelessly or enabling screen sharing. Others speculated it could switch the Joy-Con into a mouse mode or possibly relate to voice chat features. Now, we know it’s the C button, and its functionality seems to be connecting the Switch 1 to the Switch 2 according to a new rumor.

Functions of the C Button on the Switch 2

switch 2

Now, according to insider eXtas1s, the Switch 2 might feature a unique function that allows players to connect a Switch 1 to a Switch 2 and use it as a second controller and/or secondary screen. For example, in a game like Mario Kart 2, one player could use the Switch 2 with its controllers and TV screen, while the other could use the Switch 1 as both a controller and a secondary screen. This would eliminate the need for split-screen play and buying a second controller.

At this stage, this remains one of many rumors surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2, and while eXtas1s has been accurate with some predictions in the past, not all of them have come true, so these claims should be taken with caution.

If confirmed, this would certainly be an interesting and convenient feature for many Switch 1 owners. However, the truth will likely be revealed soon, as Nintendo might present details about the Switch 2 next week during a special Nintendo Direct event.

In other news, insider eXtas1s claims that several Xbox titles could make their way to the Nintendo Switch 2. The rumored games include Diablo 4, Fallout 4, Starfield, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and many more!

We should know more about the Switch 2 next week with the Nintendo Direct for the upcoming console set to air on Aprl 2.

Minecraft Update 3.09 Installs Bedrock 1.21.71

[summaraize]

Minecraft  has a new patch on all platforms as Bedrock version 1.21.71, and this is a minor update that brings fixes to the Spring to Life content drop earlier this week.

Console players will see this as Minecraft update 3.09, which is a small download. Don’t expect a lot of fixes, as this is more of a reactionary patch than anything else.

Minecraft Update 3.09 Patch Notes for Bedrock 1.21.71

Minecraft New Update 1.015

Here’s what’s in the patch per Mojang:

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that prevented buttons for external links from working correctly on iOS devices
  • Fixed mobs playing their death animation twice as quickly as they should have (MCPE-191525)
  • Fixed client and server desynchronizing on entities the client erroneously thought were dead

Don’t be surprised to see another patch or two released next week. The Spring to Life update introduced a host of new features and content that sometimes affect the game in unexpected ways.

Some of the new features and content released earlier this week include:

  • New Blocks
  • New Ambient Sounds for Desert and Badlands
  • Animal Variants
  • Updated Trades
  • Sheep wool color in warm and cold biomes

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, as the patch notes for that patch is a few thousand words long.

If another update is released, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
