The PUBG Sanhok map is set to have another testing phase, giving PC players a chance to give the third PUBG environment a go. This will be the fourth time that the map has been tested on the game’s Experimental Server.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming test phase:

PUBG Sanhok Test 4 Details

As before, everyone who owns a copy of PUBG will be able to play simply by downloading the updated version of the “PUBG: Experimental Server” found in your Steam library.

Full testing schedule below:

TESTING BEGINS:

May 31, 7pm PDT / June 1, 4am CEST / June 1, 11am KST

TESTING ENDS:

June 4, 4am PDT / June 4, 1pm CEST / June 4, 8pm KST

PUBG Corp. has also provided an expected Sanhok release date, which is when the map will go live on PC public servers:

This will likely be the final Sanhok test on the Experimental Server. If everything goes according to schedule, Sanhok will come to live servers near the end of June. Even after it launches, we’ll continue making changes based on the feedback we get from you guys.

Will you be giving the map another go? Let us know.

In other PUBG news, the new Savage map was recently tested on the Closed Experimental Server, an argument as to whether PUBG is pay to win has been brought up again, and it’s been found that 30% of all PC gamers are playing battle royale titles.

PUBG Sue Fortnite: A Legal Battle Begins in Korea

It seemed inevitable that a PUBG sue Fortnite battle would happen, and now it has. The Korean Times reports that a PUBG official has confirmed that an injunction has been filed, alleging copyright infringement. This actually happened back in January, but we’re only just hearing about it now.

It’s not clear when we’ll hear more about the lawsuit and how it is progressing. It’s also not clear how this will affect the games outside of Korea. Only time will tell.

This isn’t the first time that PUBG and Fortnite have butted heads, and it likely won’t be the last. There is a hell of a lot of money to be made (and lost) when it comes to the battle royale genre.

The minimum Battlefield 5 PC requirements have been shared on the game’s Origin product page. These are what the developer considers to be the lowest specs that will still provide a playable experience. The game won’t look its best (at all), but it will still run relatively smoothly on budget-oriented systems.

Take a look at the Battlefield 5 PC requirements below.

Battlefield 5 PC Requirements: Minimum Specs

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce® GTX 660 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
  • Hard-drive space: 50GB

As we move closer to the Battlefield 5 October 19 release date, we’ll no doubt learn more about the game’s “Recommended” and “Maximum” PC requirements.

Devs Working on PUBG Performance Fix and Other “Top Priorities”

PUBG performance fix and other “top priorities” have been shared by the game’s development team. It’s rare that players are given such an in-depth look at what the team is working on, and PUBG Corp. assures players that this is the “first [dev letter] of many more to come.”

Here’s what the devs are currently working on:

OUR TOP PRIORITIES

We look at feedback from players around the world when determining our priorities. We’ve heard your voices, and as a result we believe that the biggest issues which deserve our attention are performance, server-side optimization, and cheating.

Performance and Server-Side Optimization – Over the past few patches, we’ve seen a big increase in complaints about performance problems, including unpredictable FPS drops, visual stuttering, and overall sluggish performance. Some of the root problems are occurring client-side, and others are server-side.

First things first. We’ve identified a few simple fixes we can make to improve overall game performance:

  • We’ve discovered that when vehicles move over many different types of ground materials quickly, too many effects are produced, causing players’ GPUS to overload.
  • Another cause of GPU overloading (and FPS drops) has to do with the way lighting effects are processed.

We’re already working on fixes for both of the issues above.

We’re also changing the way we ship optimizations. We’re planning to push updates to live servers whenever fixes are ready, instead of simply waiting for major patches. We’ll announce each of these improvements in subsequent patch notes.

Looking more toward the future, we’ve identified quite a number of ways we can optimize different aspects of the game to improve performance holistically.

Upcoming Client-Side Optimization Work

Character optimization

  • We’ll optimize the way the game handles the movement of opponents who you can’t see.
  • The vaulting process and animations will also be improved—we believe this will address certain screen stuttering issues affecting low-powered PCs.
  • We’ll improve the character model rendering process to prevent some small frame drop issues.
  • We’ll optimize character movement and animation while skydiving to improve framerate when multiple characters are skydiving at the same time.
  • We’ll optimize parachute animations to cut down on frame drops near the start of the match

We expect the final three changes above will make the early stages of each match feel much smoother. War Mode will also benefit immensely from these changes.

Vehicle optimization

  • We’ll optimize the way the game handles unseen (far away) vehicle movement and the movement of player models inside faraway vehicles.
  • Currently stopped vehicles demand an unnecessary amount from your CPU. We’ll fix it.

Loading optimization/stabilization

  • We’ll optimize the core structures of Miramar and Sanhok to improve map loading speed.
  • We’ll optimize physical texture loading while level streaming, which should address screen stuttering issues.
  • There’s a crashing issue caused by some level-streaming processes that we’ll address.

Other optimization work

  • We’ll address the frame drop issue caused by high-magnification scopes
  • Certain other far-away objects will be rendered in a less taxing way
  • We’ll optimize the replay system to improve framerate for players who have the replay/death cam activated

Upcoming Server-Side Optimization Work

  • We’ll optimize network code and reduce network latency. As a result, basic player inputs will be revealed to other players much more quickly.
  • We’re going to increase the speed at which the server transfers data about objects (items, doors, fences), to address the fact that sometimes item spawn in late after players parachute in.
  • We’re going to eliminate some inefficient network code. Currently, some objects send updates to the server unnecessarily
  • Currently the server rapidly updates certain frames (on vehicles and character models) in an inefficient way. When we address this, we believe it will also resolve some abnormal physics affecting vehicles.

You can read the full PUBG update post here.

Xbox Adaptive Controller Revealed, Focuses on Accessibility

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Adaptive Controller, which aims to “remove barriers to gaming.” With the various inputs, users can customize the device to suit their various needs.

The Xbox Adaptive Controller boasts many great functions, which can all be seen in the short video embedded below:

Joining the Xbox family of controllers and devices, the Xbox Adaptive Controller was created to address these challenges and remove barriers to gaming by being adaptable to more gamers’ needs. It was developed in partnership with organizations around the world, including The AbleGamers Charity, The Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Craig Hospital, SpecialEffect, and Warfighter Engaged. We worked closely with them and directly with gamers who have limited mobility to assist in our development. Our goal was to make the device as adaptable as possible, so gamers can create a setup that works for them in a way that is plug-and-play, extensible, and affordable. In addition to working with common adaptive switches that gamers with limited mobility may already own, it has two large buttons built in. These buttons can also be reprogrammed to act as any of the standard controller’s button inputs via the Xbox Accessories app.

To make the Xbox Adaptive Controller a viable solution for the widest possible range of gamers with limited mobility, we’ve worked closely with third-party manufacturers to support external inputs which can be plugged in to the new controller. These inputs include PDP’s One-Handed Joystick for the Xbox Adaptive Controller, Logitech’s Extreme 3D Pro Joystick, and Quadstick’s Game Controller.

Battlefront 2 Season 2 Patch Notes Detailed: Han Solo Season Information

The Battlefront 2 Season 2 patch notes have been detailed by developer DICE, giving players an in-depth look at the upcoming Solo season. The list of changes is huge, but the significant improvements include the new Jabba’s Palace location, a new permanent game mode called Hero Showdown, and a Custom Arcade mode.

Read up on the full list of Battlefront 2 Season 2 patch notes below:

Battlefront 2 Season 2 Patch Notes:

HEROES AND VILLAINS

Captain Phasma Captain Phasma’s STAFF STRIKES should be easier to hit and chain to an enemy. Since it’s easier to connect now, we needed to remove some advantages on the two first strikes. We will still be keeping the incentive to land all 3 strikes as each strike is more powerful than the previous one. We’ll monitor if it feels strong enough, but Captain Phasma should be much more enjoyable to play.

  • Added the closing functionality to all Phasma’s staff strikes

  • Reduced the damage of the first strike from 150 to 120

  • Removing the push effect on the two first attacks

  • Captain Phasma’s FIRST ORDER SENTRY DROID now progressively self-repairs after 6 seconds of not taking damage, instead of instantly repairing

Luke Skywalker

Lightsaber Attacks

  • Luke did not feel as in control of his lightsaber as he should since he has slightly slower swings than some other lightsaber users. We’ll look at improving the damage if the current buff doesn’t prove to be enough for him but we’d like to see the results of these changes.

  • Reduced the cost of melee for Luke increasing his max amount of swings from full stamina from 8 to 10

Push

This is the first change to add different damage values for Heroes and other Units. It felt like Luke was the perfect Character to start with as both Push and Repulse were very weak against non-Hero enemies. The base damage of both abilities still needed to be improved for combat against opposing Heroes.

  • Added non-Hero specific damage to Luke’s PUSH at 150

  • Increased PUSH damage to Heroes from 65 to 90

  • Added Non-Hero specific damage to REPULSE at 130

  • Increased REPULSE damage to Heroes from 50 to 75

Dash

  • Players can now move a few frames earlier after using the Dash ability

Leia Organa

Defender Alt-Fire

The Defender Pistol Alt-fire was too damaging for the short charge up time and getting hit by it from afar was very frustrating. This is a first pass on balancing; we’ll see how it changes her efficiency as we’d still like her to be a great ranged defensive character.

  • Reduced the Defender Alt-fire damage from 175 to 145

  • Reduced Leia’s Defender Alt-fire explosion radius from 2 to 1 meters

  • Reduced Leia’s Defender Alt-fire targeting angle from 3.5 to 2 degrees

  • Corrected text on Leia’s “Relentless Firing” Star Card that referred to bullets instead of blaster bolts

  • Leia now receives the proper amount of health from the “For the Rebellion” Star Card

  • Fixed an issue when the Defender didn’t play the fire animation as it fired

Emperor Palpatine

Health Regeneration

Palpatine’s sustainability was way too high with both his health regeneration and the Lightning Absorbtion Star Card. His health regeneration was higher than melee characters and for a range character (even if closer than blaster users) that let him not care much about taking damage.

  • Reduced health regeneration from 300 to 250

Lightning Absorption Star Card

The health regeneration on the Lightning Absorbtion Star Card was too high. especially when hitting grouped-up troopers. With this change we want Emperor Palpatine players to care more about their positioning and rely less on easy regeneration.

  • Reduced amount of health regenerated by the Lightning Absorption Star Card by 5 on all rarities

Dual Hand Lightning

Dual hand lightning had the same angle as the single hand one and it was way too easy to deal heavy damage on enemies without having to target them.

  • Reduced the targeting angle from dual hand lightning from 14 to 10

Lando Calrissian

X8-NIGHT SNIPER

Pulling the trigger on the X8 was quite high for a light pistol, we reduced it to give the weapon a lighter feel on consoles.

  • Reduced weight to pull the trigger of the X8-Night sniper from 70% to 50%

Han Solo

  • Han Solo can no longer throw multiple Detonite Charges while being hit by a lightsaber

Iden Versio

  • The Shield Sustain Star Card now activates for the proper amount of time

  • Sound properly plays when dodging again

Lightsaber Heroes

Lightsaber Air Attacks

  • Fixed an issue where lightsaber wielding heroes could damage a deflecting hero by attacking while airborne.

  • Now lightsaber heroes get staggered when attacking a deflecting character while airborne.

Lightsaber DamageWith the short damage delay, lightsaber attacks felt better for the attacker but not for the player receiving the damage. We’ve increased that delay slightly in an attempt to get the best result for both players.

  • Increased lightsaber damage delay from 0.06 to 0.09 seconds

CLASSES, SPECIAL UNITS, & VEHICLES

Dodge

We’re aware of the stuns locks from lightsabers and we wanted to make the dodge stronger without making it as strong as it was before.

With this change, we are first unifying the dodges. Some characters, like Yoda, didn’t have the same speed and distance for their dodge and that put them at a high disadvantage. All of the dodges for force users are now similar and all dodges for blaster users are the same.

The second part was to get away from stuns locks. To that effect, you are now unstaggerable and immune to melee damage from the start of the dodge (It was a few frames in from before). This is a shorter time than it was on release (it was the whole animation back then) but still enough to feel that you can avoid being damaged.

Please feedback on this change as we’re hoping it will improve the fighting experience while not lowering the lightsaber efficiency too much.

  • Unified dodge lengths among Force using characters to 5.5 meters

  • Unified dodge lengths among blaster wielding characters (Including Troopers) to 4.75 meters

  • Dodge now makes characters unstaggerable from the first frame and for a longer time.

  • Dodge now makes characters immune to Lightsaber, melee, or Phasma’s Staff Strikes damage while unstaggerable (first frames of the animation)

Stagger

There was a few frames in the animation that felt static and where it felt like the characters could start moving. As such we’ve allowed movement and dodge earlier in the staggered animation after hitting a blocking lightsaber.

Flame Trooper

  • Fixed a visual issue with how the Flame Trooper’s Flame Grenade was exploding

  • Using the FORTIFY ability will no longer disable idle animations

AT-ST

  • Fixed an issue with the AT-ST having their lights on even when it was sunny

MISSIONS + SYSTEMS

      • This system is available after completing Plankerton Storm Shield Defense 2.
      • Upon completion, players unlock a sequence of tutorial quests for the Perk Recombobulator along with enough resources to complete them.
      • Players who have already completed Plankerton Storm Shield Defense 2 will already have the quests unlocked, including the initial resources.
    • Using the Perk Recombobulator, players can choose their schematic perks, as well as upgrade their strength.
      • You can select the perk you want in the slot from a list of perks that fit in that slot, with no random rolls required!
      • With two new tiers of power for perks, schematics can ultimately become more powerful than ever before!
    • Schematics earned before v4.2 (legacy schematics) are required to undergo a conversion process before their perks can be modified.
    • The Perk Recombobulator uses brand new resources!

In other Fortnite news, the 4.1 update implemented an Infinity Gauntlet limited time mode, and a datamine revealed new skins and emotes. Also, the Season 4 Week 3 challenges leaked ahead of time.
