Advanced Warfare’s “Retreat” Multiplayer Map Was Already Teased in Ghosts’ Nemesis DLC

Pretty sneaky, Infinity Ward.

As it turns out, you may have already known about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s most recently unveiled multiplayer map, Retreat, all along, even though it was only showcased for the first time earlier today.

If you’ve played any matches on the map Showtime in Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Nemesis DLC, chances are you’ve already seen what Sledgehammer Games has been cooking up.

In a small office on the Northern tip of the map, you’ll notice a framed poster advertising the “Guilin Bai Lan Resort,” which looks awfully close to what Sledgehammer Games showed us earlier today.

Screen Shot 2014-09-08 at 3.37.26 PMScreen Shot 2014-09-08 at 3.38.38 PM

Compare the images above to IGN’s video from earlier today and you’ll notice that the architecture matches up perfectly.

Pretty nifty! Perhaps we should keep a look out for even more Advanced Warfare clues in Ghosts’ multiplayer maps?

Thanks, MrJon92, for pointing it out!

Destiny’s Vault of Glass Raid Won’t Be Available Until September 16, 6 Locations at Launch

It appears that Guardians will have exactly one week’s time to prepare for Destiny’s toughest challenge, the Vault of Glass.

According to a full Destiny map overview by YouTube personality MoreConsole, the raid won’t unlock until September 16, giving day-one buyers a full week to prepare.

That’s okay, really, because you’ll need to be rank 25 or more in order to even attempt the raid, which you’ll need to tackle with five of your Xbox Live or PSN buddies.

Screen Shot 2014-09-08 at 9.56.52 AM

According to Bungie Design Lead Luke Smith, upon first initiating completion of the raid with your pals, you’ll also only have one week to wrap up before your progress will reset. You’ll have to figure out its mysteries quick, as Bungie has no plans to aid players in its completion either.

By design, we don’t provide much in the way of information to groups in Raids. There aren’t waypoints to follow, or objectives explaining what to do in a given situation,” Smith explained. “Realistically, for many players, they’ll be turning to the Internet for help on how to do a bunch of the Raid.”

MoreConsole’s video also indicates that Destiny will feature six playable locations, including The Tower and The Reef. Players will also be able to take on playlists of Strike missions through The Vanguard or participate in player vs. player multiplayer matches through The Crucible.

You can check out MoreConsole’s video here. Though, be warned: It can be rather revealing if you’re planning to set things off tomorrow with a clear conscious.

While you wait, be sure to prepare for Destiny’s launch with these eight steps!

So, let the games begin September 16. Who will complete the raid first?

Destiny Cometh – Be Prepared With These 8 Steps

Aside from kissing your friends, family, and loved ones goodbye, there are a few important steps you need to take before this Tuesday, September 9. What’s happening this Tuesday, September 9, you ask?

We’re going on an adventure.

bilbo_going_on_an_adventure-600x280

But, not one filled with Hobbits, dwarves, and dragons. No. One filled with Guardians, aliens, and space magic. Though, I suppose you will find wizards in both.

We’re going on an adventure in a brave new world forged by the talented minds at one of the most iconic video game studios of our time, Bungie.

September 9 marks the launch of Destiny on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, an always-online, shared-world first-person shooter that puts you in the boots of Earth’s last hope, protectors guided by the Light of The Traveller known as Guardians.

Your enemies will be ferocious and unforgiving, but you are not alone. Fellow Guardians will have your back as you will have theirs — a fellowship of the Light, one could call it. Still, here are eight important steps to take before setting off on this epic journey.

Destiny

Step 1 – Sign Up at Bungie.net

While The Tower will act as your central social hub in-game, Bungie.net will remain your home base in real life.

Here, you can keep tabs on your Guardian, stay up-to-date on news, interact with friends and clan-mates, catch up on lore, and much more. You can also take it with you on the go by downloading the official Destiny Companion App on iOS or Android.

Be sure to visit Bungie.net to create your own profile by signing up either through your Microsoft, PSN, Facebook, or Google account and download the app before September 9 in order to skip that step later on.

Now would also be a good time to get set up with Clans and Groups before the real fun begins.

Step 2 – Redeem These Codes

Another thing you can do on Bungie.net is redeem codes.

If you haven’t yet, here are a bunch of redemption codes gathered from various trading cards that you can use to unlock Grimoire entries, Emblems, and Armor Shaders for use in-game. Just copy ’em up and paste ’em here after signing up.

Grimoire – Warlock \\ YKA-RJG-MH9
Grimoire – Hunter \\ MVD-4N3-NKH
Grimoire – Titan \\ 3DA-P4X-F6A
Grimoire – Rixis \\ TCN-HCD-TGY
Grimoire – Old-Russia \\ HDX-ALM-V4K
Grimoire – Hive \\ 473-MXR-3X9
Grimoire – Moon \\ JMR-LFN-4A3
Grimoire – Gjallorhorn \\ HC3-H44-DKC
Grimoire – Duke MK.44 \\ 69P-KRM-JJA
Grimoire – The Tower \\ 69P-VCH-337
Grimoire – The Hive: Ogre \\ 69R-CKD-X7L
Grimoire – Vally of the Kings, Mars \\ 69R-DDD-FCP
Grimoire – The Fallen \\ 69R-F99-AXG
Grimoire – Red Death \\ 69R-VL7-J6A
Grimoire – The Cabal \\ 69X-DJN-74V
Grimoire – The Devastated Coast, Venus \\ 6A7-7NP-3X7
Grimoire – Vex Minotaur \\ 6A9-DTG-YGN
Emblem – Binding Focus \\ FJ9-LAM-67F
Emblem – Illusion of Light \\ JD7-4CM-HJG
Emblem – Ab Aeterno \\ JDT-NLC-JKM
Emblem – Field of Light \\ JNX-DMH-XLA
Emblem – Lone Focus, Jagged Edge \\ 7CP-94V-LFP
Shader – Double Banshee \\ 7MM-VPD-MHP
Shader – Oracle 99 \\ RXC-9XJ-4MH

Thanks, A13x231!

Step 3 – Explore Worlds, Redeem Another Code

Explore some of the areas you’ll stumble upon in-game using Destiny’s Planet View, powered by Google. It’s just like Google’s Street View, but in space and on different planets.

[youtube id=”oMpGYh9FZM8″]

If you’re up to the task, viewing all entries on each planet will score you another redemption code that unlocks the Sign of the Finite emblem. If you’re not, you can also copy and paste the code below into the same redemption screen you used above to redeem the emblem.

EmblemSign of the Finite \\ 7F9-767-F74

Still, we suggest viewing each entry, as you’ll likely learn a thing or two about Destiny’s lore, enemies, locations, and gear that will only serve to prepare you for the road ahead.

Step 4 – Choose Your Guardian

Now, you won’t quite be able to choose your Guardian class until Destiny is in your hands, but you can do your homework ahead of time so you can make an educated selection on September 9.

Below are three guides for each Guardian class, along with their respective sub-classes. You’ll learn about the types of grenades each carries, the sort of Super abilities each wields, the variation of melee attacks each performs, the assortment of passive abilities each possesses, and more.

Titan
Warlock
Hunter

Most of the info was gathered from the Destiny beta, but it should be accurate enough to give you a pretty good idea of what you’ll be getting yourself into, come September 9.

Thanks, hSix-Kenophobia!

Step 5 – Pre-Load Destiny

If you want to be among the first to play your digital version of Destiny the moment the clock strikes midnight on Tuesday morning Pacific Time, you’ll definitely want to have that sh*t pre-ordered and pre-loaded on your console pronto.

As of this writing, you can pre-load any digital version of Destiny on your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, or Xbox One right now, and we highly suggest you do so in order to avoid any potential server downtime when thousands of gamers who might not have though ahead begin downloading their copy of the game at the same time. Things could get messy, and you don’t want to be a contributing factor.

If you’re going physical, then be sure to enjoy any midnight launch parties you may be attending and spend some time getting acquainted with all the sweet loot included in the Limited or Ghost editions of the game. Check out this link to find out whether or not your closest GameStop is participating in a midnight launch event.

Speaking of which, if you’re a bit confused about all the different physical and digital versions of Destiny out there and what’s included in each, you’ll find everything you need to know right here.

[youtube id=”nFM-q0jlYp4″]

Step 6 – Learn About Upgrade Options

If you’re picking up any digital version of Destiny for either your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 this September 9, know that you can upgrade to a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the game any time before January 15, as long as its within the same console family.

The best part? You get to keep your previous-gen copy of the game after upgrading and, because profiles are stored on PSN and Xbox Live, you’ll have access to your Guardian and all of his or her stats and gear on either platform at all times. The same applies to DLC content.

For details, be sure to read the official FAQ here.

Step 7 – Know Your Pre-Order Bonuses and Exclusive Content

Unless you like surprises, it’s always nice to know what sort of extras are in store for you if you’re one of many who’ve pre-ordered Destiny.

PlayStation users will also boot up their copy of Destiny to a ton of exclusive content ranging from weapons and armor to Strike missions and multiplayer maps.

New Battlefield Hardline Details – Beta on All Platforms, 150 Ranks, No Visual Recoil, and More

Previous reports from an interview with Visceral Games General Manager Steve Papoutsis suggested that Battlefield Hardline‘s second beta, coming in January, may only be open to users on next-gen consoles and PC.

But Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users need not waste away in heartache. More recently, Papoutsis clarified that a Battlefield Hardline “Beta [is] coming to all platforms before launch,” while answering questions on Twitter, where a few more Hardline details emerged.

According to Papoutsis, Hardline will offer 150 ranks in total. “We’ve been playing with the exact number, but it’s looking to be 150 at launch,” he wrote. He also answered “yes” to benefits for pre-existing Battlefield Premium members and Veteran Rewards.

Competitive players can look forward to an addition eSports mode announcement. “We plan to have 2 eSports modes,” Papoutsis explained. “We haven’t announced the 2nd yet. Stay tuned.” He added that the studio also does “plan to have Spectator Mode as well…” Five new modes in total are in the works, though no co-op mode is planned. Mid-September is likely when we’ll get a better look at Hardline’s vehicle-focused mode, Hotwire.

As for more specific details, Papoutsis answered yes to an M1911 hand gun, M416 assault rifle, ballistic shield, and a Team Deathmatch game mode being in Hardline, in addition to new vehicles and weapons. He also confirmed that weapons in Hardline will not be affected by visual recoil.

Lastly, it sounds like the first details on Hardline’s expansion packs are expected to drop some time in January, which, according to earlier reports, is one month before the game launches on all platforms.

Titanfall IMC Rising DLC – First Details On New Map, Backwater

A solid launch date for Titanfall’s third DLC add-on, IMC Rising, is still up in the air, but developer Respawn Entertainment is dishing out details on the expansion’s first unveiled map, Backwater.

Originally based on early concepts for the game itself, work on Backwater was never quite completed in time for launch. Respawn says early fans may recognize the game’s first concept art with Nessie (Roger) serving as an inspiration for Backwater.

According to the studio, the map is defined by its elevation changes. Players will fight for high ground in the center of the map while Titans battle in the open rice paddies. Underground grain storage facilities will allow Pilots to move from hardpoint to hardpoint while avoiding the heat above ground. In addition, ziplines will give pilots a better option to cross “no-man’s land” quickly, areas of the map between two lines of combat that lack any sort of cover.

The official description of Backwater reads: “High in the mountains, ex-IMC pilot Barker and his fellow colonists have made a comfortable living by producing moonshine in this hidden bootlegging colony.”

You can check out the first images and map layout below, and read more details on Respawn’s official blog.

Titanfall Game Update 6 is now out on Xbox One and PC, soon to come to Xbox 360.

Mortal Kombat X Slated For April Release, Goro Unveild as Pre-Order Bonus Character

Those who’ve been itching to get their hands on the tenth installment of the Mortal Kombat series won’t have to wait too far into the year 2015 to get your hands on it.

Recently, NetherRealm Studios let the cat out of the bag, revealing that Mortal Kombat X will launch on April, 14, 2015. An April release for MKX shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise, seeing how NetherRealm’s past two titles, Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice: Gods Among Us, also released in the same month back in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

What should come as a surprise to Mortal Kombat fans, however, is the pretty neat pre-order bonus which nets you the ability to play as none other than Goro, the Shokan warrior, marking the first time Goro would be playable again after an eight year long wait.

Accompanying Goro, Mortal Kombat X will feature the return of Kano, Raiden and two staple characters in the series, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, with Cassie Cage, D’vorah, Kotal Kahn, and Ferrah/Torr joining the cast as completely new characters.

Mortal Kombat X will be available on the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.

Bungie Confirms No Day One Reviews for Destiny, Here’s Why

News surfaced earlier this week suggesting that readers anxious to study reviews for Bungie’s highly anticipate new shooter on release day may have to hang tight until a few days after launch.

Polygon, for example, indicated that “there is no practical way” for their publication to review Destiny in time for its September 9 launch, as Destiny’s servers won’t start functioning until one day earlier on September 8.

Readers were ready to raise the red flags upon hearing the news, as late review copies for any title tends to indicate a potentially weak launch. However, developer Bungie took a moment to clear the air in their latest Weekly Update, and you’ll probably be relieved to hear what community manager David “DeeJ” Dague had to say.

According to Dague, Bungie doesn’t “believe Destiny is a typical shooter.”

You could experience the storyline, jump into a few rounds of competitive multiplayer, and form a Fireteam of friends and take on all the Strikes and you would just be getting started,” he added. “Those activities are critical components of Destiny, but they are also a foundation for so much more.

After thousands of internal playtests, an internal Alpha, and a public Beta, we’ve also learned that Destiny isn’t Destiny without the most crucial component to our living, social world: You.”

Dague explained that the studio “explored several options to populate the world for reviewers.”

“Our team estimates it would take thousands of gamers to ensure each potential public space in Destiny would be populated – that every activity would be accessible at all hours of the day and night. Where on Earth would we be able to find thousands of gamers?

The answer, again, is you.

“So, reviews of Destiny will wait for your arrival. On day one, you’ll be rubbing elbows with the pageant judges, so look sharp. Who knows, you may end up on one of their live streams. They may end up on one of yours, too! “

So, if you want to know what we and other publications think of Destiny, it looks like you won’t find out until after you’ve already made the purchase. In any case, we’ll do our best to get a shiny, informative, and entertaining Destiny review up as soon as possible.

Buy Destiny on Xbox 360 or PS3 Digitally and Get the Xbox One or PS4 Version For Free

A pretty sweet deal for anyone planning on picking up Bungie’s shared-world shooter this September 9, digitally: Buy any digital version of Destiny for your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and upgrade to the next-gen version for free.

The deal only only holds for a limited time after launch, until January 15, and only allows you to upgrade within the same console family. So, say, if you download the Digital Guardian Edition of Destiny on your PlayStation 3 on September 9, you’ll then be able to download that exact same edition on your PlayStation 4 anytime before January 15 at no additional cost.

The sweetest part? You get to hang on to both versions of the game. And, because your profiles are saved to the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, you’ll have access to your Guardians on both consoles at all times. According to the details, the same applies to Destiny’s Expansion Pass content.

You’ll definitely want to check out the official FAQ for specifics and answers to any questions you might have.

At this point, if you were planning to go digital with Destiny anyways, you might even consider switching any next-gen Destiny pre-orders you might have to Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 so you’re guaranteed two copies of the game when upgrading.

If you’re planning on sticking to next-gen only, Destiny is now available to pre-load on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One so you can be the first to play on September 9.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Nemesis DLC Out Now On PlayStation and PC, Showtime 24/7 Playlist Live on All Platforms

Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ fourth and final DLC add-on, dubbed Nemesis, has finally landed on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation3, and PC, bringing a definitive close to a full season of Call of Duty: Ghosts content.

The last offering introduces four brand new multiplayer maps called Goldrush, Subzero, Dynasty, and Showtime, which happens to be a true-to-form reimagining of the hectic and fan-favorite Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer map, Shipment. Nemesis also brings forth the conclusion of the Extinction saga with Episode 4: Exodus. You can watch the overview video above for a quick rundown on all of the new content.

If you’ve already secured Ghosts’ Season Pass, then download away. Otherwise, you can pick up Nemesis on its own for $14.99.

As promised earlier, Showtime is now the highlight of Ghosts’ current 24/7 playlist, meaning you can play nothing but Showtime match after match, as long as you stick to that bonus playlist.

In addition, developer Infinity Ward has announced that Double XP is hitting all Extinction game modes, so be sure to get in on that if you still need to rank up.

PlayStation Nation, the shooter you’ve all been waiting for isn’t quite here yet, but it is now available to pre-load on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

According to Sony, your two options for pre-loading Destiny on your PS4 or PS3 before its September 9 release are:

  • If you can’t wait until then, you can enable the download manually. In PlayStation Store, navigate to the Destiny game page and click the “download” button. If you haven’t yet preordered, you can preorder and then begin downloading.

The Free-to-Play ‘Sci-Fi Space Ninja Game’ Warframe is Now on Xbox One

Out on PC and PS4 for quite some time now, Digital Extreme’s free-to-play ‘sci-fi space ninja game’ (as Creative Director Steve Sinclair puts it) Warframe is at last coming to Xbox One.

Through Microsoft’s ID@Xbox, Sinclair says it’s been an “awesome” help in letting the studio publish Warframe themselves. “We could never have done that before,” he added.

“Now, we can take our independent studio we’ve been running for many, many years, but now we can go direct to players and they can get involved in our community and give us feedback. I mean, that’s how we built Warframe to what it is now and we’re hoping that people on Xbox One will come and join us and build the future of Warframe with their help.”

Xbox Users will benefit from all the the latest updates, providing a “mammoth of a space ninja game for you to consume,” says Sinclair.

You can watch Sinclair’s overview video above, if you’ve been in the dark about what Warframe is.

You’ll find Warframe on the Xbox One Store on your console or on your web browser.
