Starfield Secret Rooms Discovered by Using the Mining Laser

Bethesda’s space opera RPG Starfield launched just a few days ago in early access and players are already discovering all sorts of secrets and hidden passages. While exploring the stars, players will have the opportunity to scavenge through dozens of populated locations. Most of the time, the path forward through these is quite clear, but in typical Bethesda fashion, Starfield secret rooms have been discovered.

As shown off in a tweet by Twitter user Psychobaker_24, there are actually sealed corridors labeled “cuttable wall” that player can stumble across while delving through the game’s numerous outposts and space stations.  At first blush, these walls might simply appear to be set dressing, but it is actually possible to interact with them.  By whipping out the mining laser, players can actually cut open the pins holding the wall shut and cause it to drop open.  In the tweet below, we can see that doing so reveals an entire passageway that might have otherwise gone unexplored:

From a glance, it looks like the passageway revealed in the video is a little worn down. Choosing to enter these secret rooms will grant players extra supplies or weapons and allow alternate avenues for stealth and traversal. Secrets like this reward explorers who take the time to get a good look at their environment.

Starfield players are already discovering all sorts of ways to push the boundaries of the game, and they’re even beginning to recreate famous spaceships in the game’s robust ship builder.

If you’re interested in seeing more of the game, you can check out what we think of it in our review.

Starfield will fly out of early access and be released officially this September 6 on the Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Bethesda Committed to Making Redfall a “Good Game”

By now, it’s no secret that Arkane Studios’ Redfall hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations (be it critically or commercially). If you think the game can still be brought back by the devs into a better state, Arkane’s parent company Bethesda thinks so as well.

Speaking in an interview, Bethesda Head of Publishing Pete Hines compared Redfall to other Bethesda games like The Elder Scrolls Online’s PC launch and Fallout 76, in the sense that both games didn’t have the greatest of launches, but they are going to keep working on it to turn it into a “good game.”

The Elder Scrolls Online’s PC launch was not flawless but we stuck with it. Now it’s like this insanely popular multiplatform. It’s the same with Fallout 76. Redfall is no different for us. Okay, we didn’t get the start we wanted, but it’s still a fun game… and we’re going to keep working on it. We’re going to do 60fps. We’re going to get it to be a good game because we know, as a first-party studio, Game Pass lives forever. There will be people ten years from now who are going to join Game Pass, and Redfall will be there. – Pete Hines, Bethesda Head of Publishing

Hopefully, Bethesda and Arkane do pull of this feat for some sort of redemption for the game. The upside is, Microsoft has confirmed that Arkane Studios won’t be shut down even with Redfall’s less-than-stellar performance.

If you haven’t played Redfall, it’s not the worst game of all-time or anything, but it does have its issues. Go check out our review here where we state, “Redfall is far from being Arkane Studio’s finest hour; on the contrary, it’s a misfire that may tarnish the reputation of one of the most creative and exciting development outfits. Not even the cooperative mode or the use of vampires are enough to lift the game from the claws of mediocrity, and at this rate you’d better forget the bloodsucking and conform yourself with the dominance of the flesh-eating – at least, zombies have recently starred with some flair in a somewhat similar but far better horror shooter.”

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Re-Emerges With a New Developer and Trailer

Paradox Interactive has revealed a fresh look at Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, accompanied by an exciting new trailer. The game is now under development at The Chinese Room and fans can anticipate its launch in the fall of 2024.

In this dark incarnation of Seattle, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 immerses players in a world where vampires vie ruthlessly for supremacy, engaging in fast-paced combat and navigating the delicate balance between their blood-thirst and the need to conceal their true nature from society.

The sequel to 2004’s classic has been in the works since 2019. Initially, it was slated to release a year after. However, a series of delays led to the announcement that Hardsuit Labs would no longer be handling the development.

Now, the reins have been passed, we fervently hope for a smoother journey ahead with no obstacles.

The Chinese Room has assured fans of an in-depth gameplay reveal for January 2024, with the full release expected in the fall of 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC.

Report: XDefiant Factions Leak Mentions Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege and More

In XDefiant, Ubisoft worlds’ collide where factions come from iconic Ubisoft franchises and their distinct abilities come into play.. For those who’ve been keeping tabs on the game, Ubisoft has already revealed the Libertad, Phantoms, Echelon, Cleaners, and DedSec factions. Well, thanks to an XDefiant factions leak via datamine, it seems we now know some of the factions incoming post-launch.

The  datamine, which stemmed from the beta that ran this June, and was spotted on Reddit, revealing a few more faction names and the Ubisoft game associated with them. Before reading on, it’s important to note that none of these are final, and as such, should be taken with a bag of salt.

According to the dataminer, the spotted XDefiant factions yet to be revealed include:

  • Assassin’s Creed
  • GSG9 (Rainbow Six Siege)
  • Wolves /Black Tusk
  • Spetsnaz (Placeholder)
  • Highwaymen

Ubisoft fans will easily identify the games/series some of these belong to, which include Far Cry, The Division 2, and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, among others. There’s also a list of faction abilities that got unearthed as well, which we’re guessing is for the Wolves faction from Breakpoint.

  • Aegis (Ultra) – Spherical plasma shield combined with an electro-scattergun for close-quarters combat
  • (Unnamed ability) – An attack drone that moves in a line, firing at enemies in range, and acting as an aerial turret at its destination
  • Legion B – A throwable drone that will seek out enemies within range and explode on impact
  • Wolf Blood (Passive) – Invisible and un-targetable by electronic or AI based skills and gadgets

Again, as a disclaimer, some of the images and info above could be placeholder info, as these are all obtained through unofficial channels. However, the Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege franchises being part of the factions in the future is a no-brainer and is something fans of the game expecting.

While we still wait for the XDefiant release date, you can be rest assured that it won’t be “shadow dropped” – a term often used when a game launches out of the blue. Players will have time to pre-load and get prepared for these FPS battles, as Ubisoft will give everyone a heads-up. A Steam release for XDefiant isn’t ruled out yet, but a physical version isn’t going to happen, mostly due to the fact that this is a free-to-play game.

Well, that’s just what one player has done, as icon ships the Millennium Falcon and The Enterprise have managed to make their way into the game.

Gaming content creator spectrexgaming has (so far) recreated not only Star Wars and Star Trek’s most iconic spacecrafts, but they even manage to recreate the Milano from Guardians of the Galaxy, the ship from Cowboy Bebop and more. Check out some of their work below.

Rumor: Modern Warfare 3 New Perks System Vest, Gloves, Boots Options and Info Leak Out

When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was officially announced last month, Activision confirmed that players will be getting a new Perks system that will involve accessories of some kind such as vests and the like, Well, it seems we have more info about that, though from unofficial sources.

Courtesy of Call of Duty leaker BobNetworkUK who is now posting under el_bobberto, a ton of Modern Warfare 3 new perks system has surfaced. Details regarding the different boots, vests and gloves have leaked, and it seems players will see the return of classic perks in a new form. Instead of picking your traditional perks, players will be able to choose from different accessories that will give the same abilities as perks, which does sound intriguing to say the least.

Gloves Perk Options:

  • Assault Gloves – While jumping, accuracy and time to ADS is improved.
  • Custom Gloves – Increased weapon swap speed.
  • Scavenger Gloves – Resupply ammo and throwing knives from dead players.
  • Specialist Gloves – Throw equipment further. Reset fuse timer on thrown back grenades.
  • Tactical Combat Gloves – Enables reloading while sprinting.
  • Marksman Gloves – Reduced sway and flinch while ADS.

Boots Perk Options:

  • Canvas Sneakers – Eliminates footstep sounds.
  • Stalker Boots – Increased strafe & ADS movement speed.
  • Tactical Pads – Increases slide distance & allows for full ADS while sliding. Increases stance transition speeds & crouched movement speed.
  • Ultra Light Boots – Increases movement & swim speed. Reduces noise while swimming.
  • Running Sneakers – Increases Tac Sprint duration & reduces refresh time.
  • Climbing Boots – Increased climbing & mantling speed. Reduces fall damage.

Vests Perk Options:

  • Gunner Vest – Carry two Primary Weapons with max ammo, but lose grenades
  • Overkill Vest
  • Grenadier Vest
  • Infantry Vest
  • Scout Vest
  • Tactical Vest

According to el_bobberto, the Vests info is based on old info via the leaked screenshots they shared back in July, and are subject to change.

https://twitter.com/el_bobberto/status/1698047343763812413

As is with every leak, treat it with a grain of salt and skepticism until we get the official word from Activision. There is a chance that more vests, boots and gloves will be available in the final game, or maybe the abilities tied to them will be changed. In short: These are nice info to know, but don’t treat them as facts just yet.

We have a month to go before Call of Duty Next hits this October 5 where we’ll see MW3 multiplayer be revealed. Expect all the info — including Perks and whatnot — to be unveiled then.

Modern Warfare 3 will be available this November 10 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. You can check out the different editions and pre-order info for the game right here.

XDefiant Won’t Be Shadow Dropped, YouTube Gaming Event Kicks Off Today

While XDefiant’s release is slated for sometime this summer, there’s still no firm release date available for the game just yet. If you’re hoping for the game to be “shadow dropped” — a term used when something is released unexpectedly or by surprise, don’t since that won’t be happening.

This was confirmed by XDefiant Producer Mark Rubin over on Twitter where he mentioned that an XDefiant shadow drop won’t be happening, as they would want players to be able to pre-load the game and such.

This conversation was kickstarted as YouTube content creators will be jumping online today to compete in the YouTube Gaming “World’s Greatest” event, which kicks off today at 3pm ET/12 pm PT/3 am HKT.

If you’re interested, you’ll be able to watch it unfold here. If any relevant info seeps its way out of the event, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

In other XDefiant news, the devs have said that they are squashing last minute bugs as part of the game’s release submission.

Baldur’s Gate 3 HDR PS5 Issues Surface, Here’s a Potential Fix

Larian Studios has just released Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5 via early access! For those playing the game on montiors/TVs that have HDR capablity (High Dynamic Range) and have it turned on, you might have noticed that it’s not working properly. Fortunately, there is a Baldur’s Gate 3 HDR PS5 issue workaround that seems to have done the trick for some gamers.

Baldur’s Gate 3 HDR PS5 Issue Workaround/Fix:

Here are some of the confirmed adjustments that fixed this issue according to the community.

BG3 HDR PS5 Fix 1:

I have an LG C2 and the game is 1000% unplayable with HDR turned on. It has crushed blacks. I turned off VRR and then went to HDR calibration, I kept both white scales normal and then on the black i was forced to turn it up to make it WORK. I also have fine tuned dark area at -20 to -25. (via 41Threeze)

BG3 HDR PS5 Fix 2:

For anyone having the same issue – try turning OFF HDR setting in PS5 – Settings – Screen and video – HDR.

If this doesnt fix the problem for you, try restarting the game / PS5, and you can try to turn off HDR setting in your TVs settings. (via buzinka)

BG3 HDR PS5 Fix 3:

You don’t have to turn off HDR. It’s the same bug that Jedi Survivor had. Just go into the PS5’s HDR Calibration and increase the last screen from 0 to 1. This will fix the crushed blacks. (via kevincha0s)

Note that given there’s a ton of TV brands, types and whatnot, there doesn’t seem to be an all-in-one fix know just yet. Given Larian’s turnaround times in addressing issues, we’re expecting a fix for this to be rolled out soon-ish via a patch.

While you’re waiting for our Baldur’s Gate 3 review, go check out our Baldurs Gate 3 best settings guide on PS5. If you initially played on PC, and want to properly use the cross-platform save feature, go read about it here.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Cross-Save PS5 and PC – How to Transfer Saves Across Platforms

If you’re thinking of double-dipping Baldur’s Gate 3 on different platforms, you’ll be glad to know that Larian has implemented cross-platform save. Check out our Baldur’s Gate 3 cross-save PS5 and PC guide showing you exactly how cross-saving works, and how you can continue your adventure ondifferent platforms.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Cross-Save PS5 and PC – How It Works

First, I suggest you go and create a Larian account before booting into Baldur’s Gate 3. You’re going to need an account for cross-save to work, so head on to Larian.com and get started with making that account.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll want to boot Baldur’s Gate 3. If this is your first time starting, you should be asked to log into your Larian account. This account will be the same one you want to log into on every platform you have Baldur’s Gate 3 on. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be on the main menu. Head over to the options, and under the gameplay settings, you’ll find the cross-save option. Turn it on.

Once this option is enabled on all platforms, saves will be uploaded to Larian’s severs. Selecting the “Load Game” option will show all saves, with a “cross-save” text listed by saves not stored locally. You can load these saves and continue your Baldur’s Gate 3 on any platform.

Do note that you DO NOT need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription to upload your save to Larian’s cloud storage. This is all handled by the studio. We expect this process to be exactly the same on the Xbox Series version of Baldur’s Gate 3, despite it not being released yet.

That’s how you transfer your saves between platforms. Hopefully this has cleared some things up and you’re well on your way to rolling yourself to victory regardless of which platform you want to play the cRPG on.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Best Settings for PS5 Guide

With Larian Studio’s mega-hit Baldur’s Gate 3 now available on PS5 via early access, console gamers might be wondering just how to set everything in its optimal settings to get the most of your gaming time with this cRPG. MP1st is here to help with our Baldur’s Gate 3 best settings for PS5 guide.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Best Settings for PS5:

Gameplay Settings

  • Show tutorials – If you’re new to the Baldur’s Gate franchise, I recommend playing with this option, as it will teach and explain all the mechanics of the game.
  • Karmic Dice – Avoid failure streaks while keeping the results mostly random. It is recommended to keep this on, especially for new players. Basically, streaks are balanced out, so you’ll never get a bunch of bad rolls repeated consecutively, though the same is true for good rolls. It keeps things mostly balanced rather than fully RNG.
  • Auto Select Character After Combat – Keep this on Avatar, as it means you’ll maintain control of your character after combat rather than switching to the last turn character.
  • Controller Vibration Intensity – Extra strong is fine, but you could save a bit of battery by turning it down or off.
  • Adaptive Triggers – On. There’s multiplayer, but it’s not like you need to be quick on your feet where the triggers will give you a disadvantage.

Save Options

  • Autosave – On
  • Max Numbers of Auto Save – 5
  • Max Numbers of Quick Save – 5
  • Crosssave – On – If you plan on playing on multiple platforms, you’ll need to log into your Larian account on every device.

Controller

Nothing can be modified here, which is fine because the controller scheme is practically perfect as is.

Video

  • Performance/Quality Mode – Outside of resolution, we don’t see much of an improvement in visuals when selecting quality mode, and therefore, we recommend performance since the game can run at 60 FPS. For those planning on playing in splitscreen, it’ll default to quality mode since it can’t render two players at 60 FPS at the same time. Resolution in quality mode is upscaled, where quality targets 1440P.
  • HDR Calibration – On brightness, I have it set to 106 and contrast at 1.40. These settings will differ depending on your monitor or TV set.

Audio

Defaults are fine here, although I’d recommend turning the music down to be able to hear dialogue better.

Interface

Again, defaults all seem as good as they are.

Accessibility

  • Camera Shake – Normally, I say keep this off in games, but Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t a fast-paced game where you need to swing the camera all the time. I think it adds to a scene in this case rather than come off as annoying.

Explicit Content

  • Show Genitals – Yes, Baldur’s Gate shows full-on genitalia, and if that bothers you, or you plan on playing with family around, then you can turn this option off.
  • Show Cinematic Nudity – Same deal as genitals, turn it off if you don’t want to see any of it. Would be recommended to keep it off if you plan on uploading to YouTube.
  • Share Private Moments – Basically, if you’re playing co-op and want to do some sexy stuff without your friends knowing, disable this option. If you do want your friends to see that you banged a bear, well, turn this on.
  • Dialogue Text Size – If you find the text in Baldur’s Gate 3 to be too small, you can increase it under this setting.
  • Overhead Text Size – Same as dialogue text size, you can increase the size of text that appears over a character.

Expect the PS5 version to house the latest round of improvements rolled out on the PC version, which include Karlach’s epilogue and more. Stay tuned to our review of Baldur’s Gate 3 hitting the site sometime soon (it’s a very big game!).
