Dragon Ball FighterZ Rollback Netcode Announced, No More Updates Planned in the Future

Dragon Ball FighterZ got two major announces today at EVO 2022. First up, the producer of the fighting game announced that the Dragon Ball FighterZ rollback netcode is coming to the game soon!

The second announcement isn’t as positive however, as the devs think Dragon Ball FighterZ is “tuned to its finest” and will not be receiving any updates or characters.

Hiroki-san, the producer of Dragon Ball FighterZ made the announcement today at EVO 2022:

DBFZ – Rollback Netcode Official Announcement
byu/Shreeder4092 indragonballfighterz

“With the latest update we just released a few weeks ago, we believe Dragon Ball FighterZ has been tuned to it’s finest. So, we do not (have) future plans for any new characters, or balance, adjustments… but here’s the good news, we have decided to implement rollback netcode to Dragon Ball FighterZ”

The Dragon Ball FighterZ community had been requesting a rollback netcode update ever since the game’s release back in 2018. Finally, about four years later, the developers of the game heard the fans and decided to implement rollback netcode, allowing for a much better online experience.

What is rollback netcode? (via gamepur)

Rollback netcode eliminates the delay by predicting your inputs. The game will attempt to predict your input by itself and will show that input to the enemy player. For example, if the game expects you to use Ryu’s Fireball at the enemy, that’s what the game will show the enemy. However, imagine if you instead used a different attack? The game will “rollback,” and adjust what actually happened. The game rewinds to a different state, one where your other attack was actually executed.

The rollback update will be available on PC as well as the newly announced Xbox Series and PS5 version of Dragon Ball FighterZ. People who own the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game can upgrade the game using smart delivery and other upgrade programs. Once the netcode update is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

While fans are delighted about Dragon Ball FighterZ finally getting the rollback netecode update, they’re not thrilled about it not receiving any more patches in the future. The community has won but at what cost? Let us know what you think in the comments below. You can purchase Dragon Ball FighterZ on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 (via backward compatibility).

Diablo 4 Alpha Leak Features Gameplay, Character Customization and More

While Diablo 4 still doesn’t have a firm release date other than releasing sometime in 2023, the Diablo 4 alpha is currently being tested by “friends and famly” of Blizzard Entertainment. As one might expect with private alphas and betas, a leak has happened once again! This Diablo 4 alpha leak features a short gameplay clip, alongside images and details regarding character customization, game creation and more!

Diablo 4 Alpha Leak:

Link to gameplay

https://imgur.com/a/qBGKO2X

As you can see from the images, the game will feature “World Tiers” as difficulty, with the alpha featuring World Tier 1 as “Adventurer” and World Tier 2 for “Veterans,” I assume the final game pushed out to retail will feature more world tiers as difficulty scales up.

Also, it confirms that loot will be tied to difficulty (which is par for the course) and is part of the world tier scaling.

World Tier 1

Adventurer

  • Recommended for new players to Diablo or want a slight challenge
  • Enemies are easy to defeat
  • Drops are average

World Tier 2:

Veteran

  • Recommended for Diablo veterans who want to be tested
  • Enemies will challenge you
  • Better drops
  • Increased XP & Gold

We suspect these images and short gameplay clip might be taken down by Activision-Blizzard’s hound dogs, so best to check them out while you can.

Diablo 4 is set for release in 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Thanks, Gleucks!

The Best Games on PlayStation Plus Extra You Can Play Right Now

PlayStation Plus has been more popular than ever due to the merging of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. This merger consists of three tiers: basic, extra, and premium. The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers are, in many ways, a response to Xbox’s GamePass.

PlayStation has been stacking up the lineup heavily with new releases each month. With the Yakuza series making its way to PlayStation Plus’s game catalog alongside Yakuza: Like A Dragon being offered as the free PlayStation Plus title for August, now is the best time to grab the subscription. Given the extensive lineup the subscription offers, here our picks for the best games available on PlayStation Plus: Extra’s game catalog that every player should consider downloading.

Assassins Creed Black Flag

Assassins Creed: Black Flag is an essential AC title every gaming fan should check out. A gorgeous open-world setting of the Caribbean sea, a strong story, and excellent gameplay make AC: Black Flag a great title. AC: Black Flag features a story both newcomers and returning fans are bound to enjoy, one that dives deep into the struggle between the Assassins and the Templars. Alongside its excellent gameplay and narrative-driven storyline, AC: Black Flag also features arguably the strongest ship battles in the series.

Assetto Corsa: Competizione

Assetto Corsa Competizione

Assetto Corsa: Competizione is a thrilling sim racer for fans of motorsports and the automotive industry alike. Featuring tense, accurate gameplay alongside some of the world’s most beloved cars and tracks, Assetto Corsa: Competizione is a game everyone who is into Sim Racing should download first upon getting PlayStation Plus: Extra.

Assetto Corse: Competizione also happens to be a great game for fans of arcade races and newcomers to check out the world of Sim racing. While it may seem unwelcoming and has a learning curve, sticking through to the end is worth it for, alongside tons of fun, you get to learn a lot about cars and greater insight into motorsports. Many newcomers might end up being fans of the automotive industry if this title ends up appealing to them.

Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) and Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Insomniac’s Spider-Man games did something incredible. For years, fans had wanted a Spider-Man game where they could be the superhero in all his glory. Sure, there have been good Spider-Man games in the past, such as Ultimate Spiderman and Spider-Man 2, but they were all far from perfect.

Insomniac did what we fans had been desiring for the longest time. Featuring smooth web swinging one can get lost in for hours, accurate Spider-Man attack combos with a lot of variety, an incredible open world, and stories that are both true to character and are masterfully written, the Spider-Man games on the PlayStation consoles are truly an experience every game should go through and are not only some of the best games on PlayStation Plus: Extra, but arguably some of the best Playstation has to offer.

Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat 11

Fans of 2D fighting games are very well acquainted with Mortal Kombat. For years, Mortal Kombat has stood amongst the finest the genre has to offer. Mortal Kombat 11 only expanded on the series’ legacy with its smooth gameplay, strong graphics, and engaging story. All this, alongside it arguably being one of the best local two-player experiences in the last decade, makes Mortal Kombat 11 one of the best games on PlayStation Plus: Extra.

Demon’s Souls Remake

Demon's Souls Remake

Demon’s Souls is the oldest game in the SoulsBorne genre. With every FromSoftware release, more and more fans wanted to try Demon’s Souls. Many people could not do so due to it being available only on the PlayStation 3 and being a little aged. The popularity of the Souls game made newcomers ask for a remaster or remake of Demon’s Souls more and more.

Alongside the announcement of the PlayStation 5, a remake of the iconic game by bluepoint was announced that showcased the power of the PS5. It is safe to say that it delivered in every front and ended up being a selling point of the PS5 for many people (it certainly was for me). Demon’s Souls Remake offers some of the best graphics on the PlayStation 5 and is a fresh way for fans of the genre to experience the beginning of it all. Everyone with a PlayStation Plus: Extra subscription should download Demon’s Souls Remake.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding was released to a lot of controversies. Fans and critics alike were very divided, with some people thinking it to be nothing more than a walking simulator while others called it one of the greatest games of all time. I personally think Death Stranding is a brilliant game featuring some of the most unique gameplay in recent times.

It is a game where the terrain is your enemy, and the walking here is more engaging than action sequences in many games. Death Stranding also has stunning graphics and locations and Kojima’s masterful writing. If one thing is clear, it is that Death Stranding is a very interesting game and one everyone should check out, if only to be on one end of the crowd of opinions. The vast content in the game, alongside the bonus content in the Director’s Cut, makes it one of the best games in the PlayStation Plus: Extra library.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut

Ghost of Tsushima had millions of gaming fans intrigued worldwide. With its reveals featuring graphics rarely seen before and an unconventional take on gameplay such as the wind being our guide, no HUD, et cetera, fans were eagerly awaiting the release of GOT. It was ultimately released to mass critical acclaim. The emphasis on realism, alongside arguably some of the strongest sword combat in gaming and an emotional story based on values and traditions, made GOT a game every PlayStation 4 owner considered.

The Director’s Cut of Ghost of Tsushima added some more features such as an Island expansion, better graphics for the PlayStation 5, in-game rendered cutscenes, and Japanese lip sync. All this, alongside GOT’s base game itself being an exceptional title, makes it a PlayStation Plus: Extra title everyone should check out.

Returnal

Returnal is a roguelike by Housemarque. Much like Demon’s Souls Remake, Returnal was one of the earliest titles on the PS5 and was a showcase in many ways. Returnal is just as challenging as it is fun. Featuring fast-paced gameplay, impeccable level design, intense gunplay, and a very intriguing and complex plot, Returnal is a game every fan of challenges should go through at least once. Returnal is the kind of game I start knowing I will spend at least 4 to 5 hours per session. With its recent introduction of co-op, Returnal is now a game you can enjoy with a friend and have a lot of fun. The amount of fun to be had from Returnal is limitless, and despite the many challenges, the exceptional gameplay alone makes it among the best PlayStation Plus: Extra titles.

Red Dead Redemption 2

This list would be incomplete without a mention of Red Dead Redemption 2. There isn’t much to be said about this game that already hasn’t been saying. RDR2 is considered by many to be the greatest game ever released, and for good reason. When I first booted RDR2, I was in awe of how beautiful the game looked. The fact that it was on a PlayStation 4 made it all the more impressive. Even after almost four years, it stands as a title few can challenge in terms of art style and fidelity.

Going forward, RDR2 featured a story that had me in tears more than once. This is the kind of game where a seemingly shallow side quest can end up being backed by a deep, emotional backstory. Everything from the gameplay to the characters is near perfect. All I can say is that this title will make even those who detest both the western and RPG genres alike fall in love with them. RDR2 is easily one of the best games on PlayStation Plus: Extra and is a strong contender for being the best.

Other Notable Titles In PlayStation Plus: Extra

  • Stray
  • Injustice 2
  • Far Cry 4
  • Control: Ultimate Edition
  • Hollow Knight
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn

This concludes our list of the best PlayStation Plus: Extra titles. The games mentioned here are my what I believe to be the best and this list is in no way an objective one. Let me know what you thought in the comments.

Playstation Plus’s tiers will keep growing over time and I strongly recommend every owner of a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 system to subscribe to the Extra tier. Happy Gaming!

Gotham Knights Cinematic Trailer Takes a Closer Look at Barbra and Dick’s Relationship

WB Game Montreal has released a new Gotham Knights cinematic trailer that gives us a closer look at Dick Grayson’s relationship with Barbra Gordon. The new trailer shows how Nightwing remains in grief over the death of Batman and the responsibility he feels over holding up his legacy.

The new Gotham Knights cinematic trailer also reveals that both Nightwing and Batgirl had in fact been dating in the Gotham Knights universe, however, it remains unclear why they split up. Barbra also helps Grayson realize that he isn’t alone and that the whole team shares that responsibility.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq29X6FBxj0

Here is the description of the new trailer:

Protecting Gotham City is no easy feat, and the members of the Batman Family are not immune to the pressure that comes with donning the cowl. But when Dick Grayson grapples with taking on Bruce’s legacy, Barbara Gordon is there to support her fellow Knight.

Gotham Knights is now available for pre-order on the game’s official website. The game is coming out on October 25, 2022, for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Halo Infinite Upcoming Update August Drop Pod Revealed, Cross-Core Customization Is Finally Here

343i has just revealed their August Drop Pod preview blog. Halo Infinite upcoming update finally brings some long-awaited features and promises a better future for the game. The new features include cross-core customization, new ranked playlist, and more. Players can expect it to drop next week on August 9.

The update is laying the groundwork for what is to come in the future of the live-service game. Cross-core customization will start with the visors, all visors will be available to equip across all cores starting this month, as well as a few Mark VII attachments. This new approach to customization is promised to be expanded upon in the future.

Halo Infinite is also finally getting a ranked game mode that isn’t 4v4 Arena. Starting this month, there will be a new Doubles Ranked playlist where 2v2 action will officially return to the franchise after a long break since Halo 5. 343i also promises more ranked playlists, if Doubles performs as well as they are expecting.

Finally, Challenges are going to be viewable in the pause menu. This will allow players to see what challenges are currently active while mid-game, however, it will not track challenges’ progression in real-time, at least not yet.

This Halo Infinite upcoming update looks to be a breath of fresh air for the Halo community that offers highly-anticipated changes. It will officially be released on August 9, 2022.

Once the patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Win individual rounds within each match to gain Trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone Flawless, keep playing! Every win you achieve while at the 7-win level, even if you lose your Flawless, has a chance to drop bonus Trials Engrams, adept weapons, prisms, and even Ascendant Shards. There is no penalty for losing once you’ve made it to the Lighthouse!

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone Flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

KRAFTON Announces Untitled Game Project Based on “The Bird That Drinks Tears” Fantasy Novel

KRAFTON, Inc. revealed that the developer is working on an untitled game project today that is based on a Korean fantasy novel, ‘The Bird That Drinks Tears.’ The novel is written by Yeong-do Lee, a popular author in the Korean fantasy novels genre, who is also among the best-selling fantasy novelists in Korea with multiple millions of copies sold.

The developers hired Hollywood concept artist, Iain McCaig back in 2021 to help translate the novel into a game. McCaig is known for his work for character visualizations for franchises including Star Wars, The Avengers, and Terminator. The developers have also launched the game’s official website that showcases concept art featuring key novel characters and environments. Fans of the novel ‘The Bird That Drinks Tears’ will recognize the environment immediately and the novel’s four races including Human, Rekkon, Tolebi, and Nhaga.

Here’s a short description shared by KRAFTON for their untitled project.

This ambitious project aims to bring the original fantasy universe of The Bird That Drinks Tears to life through its unique and refreshing fantasy races, beautiful, haunting landscapes, and gripping, immersive, and poignant stories.

No word on when we can expect a full reveal, or which platforms this is targeting, but a good guess is it’ll come to PC, and current-gen (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) platforms.

Lastly, KRAFTON has announced that it is ‘aggressively recruiting the world’s top development talent’ as well to help them create this game. For more information about KRAFTON’s untitled fantasy project, make sure to check out their website.

Koch Media Has Been Rebranded to PLAION

Earlier today, Koch Media‘s managing director announced that the publisher has rebranded itself under a new name called “Plaion.” Koch Media includes some of the biggest franchises in the gaming industry including Saints Row and Dead Island. The company revealed as to why they made this change in an interview with GameIndustry.biz, and also revealed the new logo for the rebrand.

Klemens Kundratitz, managing director at Koch Media says:

“But the more we thought about it, the more we wanted to go all the way it’s more impactful, it’s got an external statement but it’s also an internal statement to our people. We’re opening this new chapter, they’re part of this, we’re a modern, growing, ambitious, global company, and it’s energising people internally.

Obviously, we want to avoid people seeing this as window dressing. The signal we’re sending is that we’re on a journey and it’s good to give this journey a new name, new visual appearance. New is always exciting.

We have made such an enormous transformation since we joined the Embracer Group. Our name for so many years was associated with physical distribution, perhaps with us being more of a central European company – although including the UK because that was among the first three countries where we launched. But we’re perhaps not seen as a global company. And it’s sometimes difficult for some people to pronounce.”

Plaion is pronounced exactly like ‘Play On,’ it is a phrase that CEO would like to implement on the publisher’s game and film business. Kundratitz also says the timing for this change is really good as it comes ahead of Gamescom, where Plaion is going to have a major appearance. it will allow the new look to sit in people’s minds.

You can read the full interview of Klemens Kundaritz here.
