ESO Update 2.28 Patch Notes | ESO Feb. 2 Patch Notes | The Elder Scrolls Online Update 2.28 Patch Notes:

Update: The article has been updated with the official patch notes from Bethesda.

Bethesda has not released the official changelog for the console versions of the game, but we’ve included the PC patch notes that was released last week! Usually, these are the same patch notes given the PC version gets each patch first. We’ll update the post once the official patch notes are released.

The Elder Scrolls Online v2.28 (PS4)/1.10 (PS5) contains several fixes tied to group content – including the Will of Stone and Soul Savior Rockgrove achievements now being properly awarded – fixes for a few game crashes, the Trap Beast ability being able to generate Ultimate, and more. The size of this patch is approximately 864.4 MB.

  • Fixed an issue where the Witch-Tamed Bear-Dog would be invisible when set as your active pet.

General

  • Fixed an issue where Tallatta the Lustrous, of Malabal Tor fame, would sometimes not drop loot correctly.

Furnishings

  • Fixed a widespread issue that could cause certain light-emitting furnishings to stop emitting light unexpectedly.

Houseguests

  • Fixed an issue with the houseguest version of Arox the Mutilator, where his dialogue would be limited to just a few lines if you’d already completed the Deadlands story. Those lines are now correctly added to his larger pool of lines, instead of replacing them entirely.

General

  • Fixed a very rare crash that could occur when you jumped away from a zone at the same moment another player started consuming food.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when a large number of effect particles are present on screen.

Stormhaven

  • Fixed an issue with a strangely possessed vase in Stormhaven that was usable, but did nothing upon activation. It has since been fully banished from the material realm and is no longer usable.

As for what’s coming to the game, check out the High Isle expansion set for release this June!

EA Has 3-4 Unannounced Projects, Looking at Opportunities to Acquire Companies

While EA has already announced a few Star Wars game in development, it looks like there’s more projects yet to be revealed (no time frame given, though)! During EA’s financials earnings call, the publisher confirmed that they have 3-4 unannounced projects in the works.

Not only that, but in the same statement by Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen, EA confirms that they are open to acquiring more companies, too!

We’re not ready to give guidance, which we normally don’t do this time of year, but we did give hints. The key to driving growth are obviously core portfolio, things like FIFA and live services associated with it. Madden, hockey, and other sports. Apex Legends obviously continued to evovle and show amazing growth. We will have an Apex Legends Mobile game in the market, we don’t know exactly when that’ll be.

We got a Need for Speed game coming, and there are three or four more things we haven’t announced yet, but you can imagine we are always trying to find ways to grow the portfolio year over year through new titles, new IP, and expansion, and as well, acquisition, which right now we are in the digest mode, but it doesn’t mean we won’t keep looking at everything going forward.

With the recent mega-acquisition deals between Sony and Bungie, and Microsoft and Activision, we wouldn’t be shocked if EA buys another company or publisher, or if they are acquired by another company.

Regarding the unannounced games, don’t forget, EA has not confirmed or even hinted when these announcements will be made, so there’s no guarantee that all these will be revealed in 2022.

EA Refused to Disclose Battlefield 2042 Sales Figures, States Franchise Accounts for Less Than 10% of Their Portfolio

While it’s not surprising that EA has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 sales numbers did not meet expectations, what is surprising is the publisher outright refusing to disclose the game’s sales when asked.

During today’s quarterly financials call Q&A portion with investors, EA was asked about the units sold/sales numbers of BF2042, and they refused to answered or give a definite number or estimate, and answered in a rather cheeky way, as EA EVP & Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen said:

We’re refraining from trying to give updates on units because we know that there are…remember Battlefield is less than 10% of our revenue, so I’m not sure what you would do with that. Clearly, we sold less units than we thought we would, but what I would say is that, remember these games are long-tail, and our goal is to add new content, new ways to play, new excitements to stretch this out.

In the same call, EA confirmed that they are reducing their fiscal year forecast by $100 million due to the poor launch of Battlefield 2042, which, again, shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Of course, if the game sold well, you just know that we’d be getting mounds of press releases and announcements on how it created a new benchmark for shooters and all that. Still, this might be the first time I’ve heard of a publisher react that way when asked directly about sales numbers.

While we might never know just how badly BF2042 has performed, I’m hoping we’ll see the game bounce back with a lot of TLC (tender loving care) from DICE. For starters, the studio can move in the right direction by hitting Season 1 out of the park. Granted, we won’t see any of that until at least June or July at the earliest, but that’s a start.

Update: Article has been updated to name who gave the statement.

EA: Battlefield 2042 Sales “Did Not Meet Expectations,” Committed to Fans for Game to Realize “Full Potential”

In EA’s latest quarterly earnings report, the publisher confirmed what a lot of Battlefield fans already know, and that’s Battlefield 2042 sales figures didn’t exactly set the gaming retail world on fire.

During the presentation, EA CEO Andrew Wilson admitted that BF2042 sales didn’t meet expectations, and mentioned how work from home conditions affected it.

The launch of Battlefield 2042 did not meet expectations. Battlefield 2042 was always an ambitious game, and our team pushed to innovate in many dimension, including massive scale, and 128 players matches, new modes, new dynamic gameplay, and more. Developing this game with out teams working from home for only two years ultimately proved to be challenging. Throughout process of testing and preparation we believed the experience was ready to be put into our players hands.

In the same call, Wilson also confirmed that the game had design choices that didn’t sit well with players, and that they are committed to realizing the game’s “full potential.”

We launched with strong stability, however as more players experienced the full game, it became clear with un anticipated performance issues that we would need to address. some of the design choices we made also didn’t resonate with everyone in our community. We are fully committed to realizing the full potential of this game and fully committed to our Battlefield fans.

Color us shocked! Sarcasm aside, DICE has a long, uphill climb to dig the game out of its hole, With Season 1 set to start literally a few months from now, Battlefield 2042 fans will have to wait and see whether EA can really turn things around.

Neverwinter Update 10.00 Patch Notes; Out for Changes This Feb. 1

Cryptic Studios has released the Neverwinter update 10.00 patch this February 1, and this includes a host of changes to content and more. Check out the complete patch notes below.

Neverwinter Update 10.00 Patch Notes:

Feature Highlights

New Adventure Zone: Dragonbone Vale

Deep in the Sword Mountains, the Cult of the Dragon prepare a foreboding ritual. Explore an all-new area on foot and with a grappling hook, and aid the Shield of the North in thwarting the cult’s schemes.

Read more about Dragonbone Vale here:

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/neverwinter/news/detail/11505113-developer-blog%3A-dragonbone-vale-adventure-zone

Through continued effort in the Dragonbone Vale campaign, players will be able to unlock a new 10-player Trial. Face the might of the dracolich Palhavorithyn and the lich Valindra atop the mountain lair known as the Crown of Keldegonn!

Refinement and Enchantment Changes

The refinement system has been updated so that enchantments are slotted on the character sheet, rather than on specific gear, which now allows them to be affected by loadouts. The enchantments themselves have also changed, with a trade-in to exchange the old enchantments for currency, with which you can buy new enchantments. These new enchantments individually have significantly higher Item Level than the old ones, with fewer overall slots to fill.

In order to smooth out the transition, any character who logs in within the first four weeks after Dragonbone Vale goes live will automatically have powerful temporary enchantments slotted. These will expire after about a week (online or offline). Previously-slotted enchantments will be sent through in-game mail.

Most upgradeable enchantments and artifacts now have an upgrade chance of 0%, but Mote items can now drop in-game which are slotted like Coalescent Wards to increase the upgrade chance. Coalescent Wards are now Coalescent Motes, to match.

There are many more changes; you can read more about the updated Refinement system and enchantments in-game with the “What’s New” section of the Home page, or read the original feedback post on the Preview forum here:

https://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/neverwinter/#/discussion/1263779/official-refinement-changes

Zen Market: Mounts and Companions Clean-up

In an effort to lighten the wall of options available in the Mounts and Companions categories of the Zen Market, a significant number of these mounts and companions have been made unavailable for purchase. Players who had unlocked them for free reclaims will still be able to reclaim them.

All mounts and companions removed from the Zen Market with this change are now available as rare drops from many end-of-queue chests. (Some were already available this way.)

Known Issues

Character Art Visuals

  • Ancient Scalebreaker’s Barbute is incorrectly invisible on male dragonborn characters.

Refinement and Enchantments

  • The new enchantments currently cannot be donated to the Gems category of the Stronghold Coffer. While this is correct for reclaimable versions of these enchantments, we plan to allow donation of enchantments earned through gameplay or purchase.

Release Notes

Content and Environment

General

  • Ebon Downs: Fires at Home: A ghost no longer T-poses menacingly.
  • Neverdeath Graveyard: The Missing Doomguides: If the player is defeated and respawns after interacting with a banner, the Battle Wight no longer ends up attacking the player from a dead-on-the-ground pose.
  • The Frozen Heart: In the story version of this instance, the HP of the Rimefire Golem and Hrimnir have been significantly decreased.
  • Throne of Idris: The story version of this instance no longer has an enemy that can fight the player through a wall.

Campaigns

  • Icewind Dale is now properly available at level 20, up from level 19. The Start Campaign button should now properly function.

  • Construction Details: Stat value increases for each rank of Defense Bonus and Critical Strike Bonus boons have been corrected.

  • The Werewolf companion now properly states that it grants Critical Strike instead of the obsolete Life Steal stat. (The companion properly gave Crit Strike prior to this tooltip change.)

Item Powers

  • Differing ranks of Potions of Dragon Slaying no longer stack.
  • Differing ranks of Scroll of Protection from Dragons no longer stack.
  • Voodoo dolls: Batiri, Dino, Undead, and Yuan-ti dolls now properly kill their targets.

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Weapons Trailer Shows Off Glaives & More

Following its unexpected leak a few days ago, Bungie has now officially revealed the Destiny 2 The Witch Queen weapons trailer, showing off the gear and guns Guardians will use in the game’s next big expansion! Check out the trailer below as well as some more details on the upcoming weapons.

The latest trailer for Destiny 2: The Witch Queen showcases some of the weapons Guardians will wield against Savathûn in the upcoming expansion, including new Exotic gear and class-specific Glaives. Guardians will also craft their own weapons that allow them to create their ultimate custom weaponry.

The Witch Queen also brings a brand-new weapon archetype for players to wield against the Lucent Brood: the Glaive. Glaives are first-person melee weapons that slice through enemies and fire mid-range projectiles, and more.

As players will very well know, the arrival of The Witch Queen also signifies the arrival of weapon crafting in the game, allowing players to fully construct their guns and swords of choice. With the expansion coming in less than a month, we should be seeing more information on The Witch Queen before its expected release on February 22.

In case you missed it, Bungie made the headlines yesterday after Sony and PlayStation announced their acquisition of the studio for $3.6 billion. Check out more details on the deal here.

FH6 RAMBO POSTER IMAGE

QUALITY-OF-LIFE UPDATES:

Guerilla Camps:
We made an update to upgrading your Guerilla Camps while playing co-op. Previously, upgrading your Camp while you were playing with somebody else would trigger a consent popup for other players in the party when you were upgrading a building. With TU4 this is no longer the case, and you can freely upgrade your camp.

Ammunition pick-up from enemies:
We have added a notification to the HUD when you are at the maximum ammunition and are trying to loot ammunition from enemies. Previously, you didn’t get any notification and it could be confusing why enemy bodies were highlighted but you wouldn’t receive any loot or notification.

Enemy health bars and icons in vehicles:
When dealing with enemies in vehicles it has been a bit difficult to differentiate between the vehicle health, enemy health and enemy type. With TU4 we’re changing the way this is displayed by hiding enemy markers while they are inside of a vehicle, to make fights more readable.

BUG FIXES:

General

  • Fixed an issue that could cause an infinite respawn loop during the “Paradise Lost” mission.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the aim sensitivity to reset when closing the options menu.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the HUD to completely disappear under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue that caused warning messages to not correctly be affected by the Red Color Group settings in the Colors menu.
  • Fixed several issues that could cause the game to crash.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a host to be unable to kick a client during a co-op session.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause enemy snipers to infinitely respawn in the restricted areas between Oasis Plains and Palma Forest.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause enemies to respawn too frequently in the Costa Del Mar area.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause enemies to respawn too frequently in the Savannah Fields area.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the mission not properly ending after completing “Operation National Treasure” after delivering the tank under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the enemy tagging to always be active, even when turning it off in the options menu.

DLC

  • Fixed an issue that caused the “UI and Fonts scaling” options to not apply to all HUD elements when playing DLC.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to fall out of bounds when interacting with a Memory Link.

Xbox

  • Fixed an issue that could cause a SNOWSHOE-73FDEEE5 error on Xbox consoles when using the Ubisoft Connect store.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a black screen when launching Far Cry 6 on Xbox consoles under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause an infinite loading screen after launching a DLC.

Xbox Series X | S

  • Fixed an issue that could cause an infinite loading screen when starting a Special Operation.

PC

  • Fixed an issue that could soft lock the game or cause the game to crash if a player clicked the Ubisoft Connect button in the main menu with the Ubisoft Connect disabled.

In case you haven’t bought the game yet, go read our review and see why we gave it a glowing 8.5/10!
