Diablo Immortal Seeing “Hugely Enthusiastic” Response From Internal Playtesting

When Diablo Immortal was initially revealed, gamers showed their disdain for the mobile Diablo game by bombarding the trailer with a load (and I mean load) of dislikes. While we haven’t heard much from the game since then, it looks like it’s doing well internally.

During Activision’s latest quarterly earnings call, Daniel Alegre President & Chief Operating Officer of Activision mentioned that the game is seeing a “hugely enthuastic” response from internal playtesting.

Amongst multiple Blizzard mobile titles under development Diablo Immortal saw a hugely enthusiastic response in internal testing in the third quarter and will soon enter external regional testing. Daniel Alegre President & Chief Operating Officer of Activision

Well, that’s good news at least, right? If you’re not a fan of Diablo’s upcoming mobile version, take comfort in the fact that Diablo 4 is in active development, and even has gameplay available to sink our teeth into.

Diablo Immortal has no set release date and is set for release on iOS and Android devices.

Modern Warfare First Year Sales the Highest in COD History, Has 7x More Hours Played Versus Black Ops 4

Regardless if you liked it or not or felt it was a departure from the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a huge success for Activision. While the publisher didn’t reveal actual numbers, Activision revealed that the Modern Warfare first year sales are now the highest in Call of Duty history!

In last night’s quarterly earnings call, President & Chief Operating Officer Daniel Alegre made the statement and even announced that compared to the previous title (Black Ops 4), the “Modern Warfare universe” (which we assume means including Call of Duty: Warzone), now has approximately 7x more hours played!

Modern Warfare and Warzone saw more than three times many monthly players as the prior title in the year ago quarter with strong growth both inside and outside our traditional regions. Console player numbers grew strongly and monthly players grew over tenfold year-over-year on PC.

Across platforms hours played in the Modern Warfare universe where approximately seven times higher year-over-year versus the prior title. We again saw substantial year-over-year growth in premium game sales as Warzone players chose to upgrade to the full Call of Duty experience. Modern Warfare’s first year sales are the highest in Call of Duty’s history with two-thirds of lifetime units sold digitally and we are seeing sustained strength in the franchise’s revamped in-game system with console and PC in-game net bookings four times the year ago level. – Daniel Alegre, President & Chief Operating Officer

Important to note that Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play (F2p) title (which is part of Modern Warfare as a whole), while Black Ops 4 didn’t have any F2P modes/versions. That said, amassing 7x more hours played is still not an easy feat to do — especially given how many choices gamers have these days.

Regarding Modern Warfare and Warzone, you can get a free Leatherface emblem and calling card and here’s how.

Roccat Launches New Vulcan Pro Gaming Mouse and Keyboards, Features New Titan Optical Switch Technology

Boasting response times of 100x faster than traditional mechanical mouse and keyboards, Roccat will soon have their latest technology, Titan Optical Switch, available in a new  iteration of the Vulcan Pro gaming keyboards and a new line of gaming mouses.

Now you may be wondering, what the heck is optical switch technology, and why should you care? Well, for those who are serious with their PC gaming, it is said that optical switch technology will offer far more responsive reactions when a button is pushed, along with a much longer lifespan for devices packed with the technology.

This is because presses will no longer rely on a physical contact, but instead uses beams of light that are interrupted by the optical switch. This means less wear and tear due to the lack of a physical contact when the keys are pressed. According to the press release, this means that users can expect a whopping 100 million clicks, which is double the average lifespan of most keyboards.

This new technology will be featured in both the Vulcan Pro and Vulcan TKL Pro keyboards, both building off Roccat’s previous award winning keyboard, the Vulcan 121. They will retail for $199/$159 respectively with the TKL being a more compacted version for those looking for a smaller keyboard with less keys.

In addition to the two keyboards above, Roccat is also launching the Burst Pro mouse and the Burst Core. Both mouse will feature the Titan Optical Switch Technology, though the burst will retail for $59.99 and have 16,000 DPI, while the core will be more of a lower budget at $29.99 with 8,500 DPI sensor.

If you are interested in any of the above, be sure to visit check out the official webpage for the Vulcan keyboards or the Roccat Burst and Core mouse to know more.

Speaking of Roccat, check out our review of the ELO 7.1 Air headset T.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 1.14 Stabs Out Today for Fixes, Raid Happening Later

While Sucker Punch Productions just released a patch for Ghost of Tsushima last week, the studio has released the Ghost of Tsushima update 1.14 and it’s live now! Don’t expect any more changes to the core gameplay, as this one is purely for fixes.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 1.14 Patch Notes:

Patch 1.14 for #GhostOfTsushima is now live, resolving a few bug fixes for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.

You’ll need to install this patch in order to play the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Raid, which launches Friday 10/30 at 3:00PM Pacific Time!

As you can see above, the game’s first raid is happening later today as well! Here’s an overview of the “Tale of Iyo” raid:

This is the culmination of the story in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, bringing the fight directly to Iyo’s realm. This Raid is divided into three chapters and requires a full team of four Ghosts, as well as excellent coordination and communication.

The Tale of Iyo will not support matchmaking, so you’ll need to arrange your team ahead of time and be ready to jump in together. You’ll want to have your gear at KI level 100 as an absolute minimum before you attempt to take on this challenge.

To get Raid ready, we recommend finishing all Story missions, and replaying Story and Survival on higher difficulties to get higher level gear.

If there are gameplay-related changes in today’s patch, we’ll update the post to reflect it

BioWare Gives a Peek at Anthem Javelin Builds the Studio Is Looking Into

While BioWare initially planned for a September update on what’s happening with Anthem, the month went by without anything official announced. Well, here we are in the last few days of October, and surprise! BioWare has now posted a new blog on the Anthem Javelin builds!

This blog focus on the concerns of Anthem players, what the studio is looking into, and what they’re brewing in the studio. Note that whatever it is shown below, nothing is final, as we’re quite far off from seeing Anthem 2.0 pop out of the woodwork.

Check out the studio’s explanation and thought process below.

Javelin Gameplay and Builds

As we’ve spent time engaging with all of you, and avidly playing the game, we’ve seen and heard a common theme: “Anthem doesn’t offer satisfying Javelin Builds!” We want to improve this too, so we’re excited to hear what you think about the changes we are trialing around the concept of “builds”:

  • Choice and Experimentation in your Loadout
    • All items are categorized to one of the 11 available equipment slots
    • Weapons are either Primary or Secondary, allowing distinctiveness in their role
    • Mods and Artifact slots replace Components
    • Manage Equipment and Abilities in your Loadout Screen
  • Reliably Create Builds
    • Abilities are unlocks, not drops! Play with the Abilities you want, when you want
    • Empower your Abilities by equipping them with Mods
    • Builds are defined by the synergies of Specializations, Abilities, and Equipment
    • Inscriptions improve build synergies, but are no longer the primary factor
  • Provide Choice and Progression through Skill Trees
    • Each Javelin can level up, awarding Skill Points
    • Skill points can be spent to unlock Abilities, Passives, and Stat Boosts
    • Each Specialization has its own Advanced Skill Tree
  • Expand on the Fantasy and Playstyles of Each Javelin
    • Javelins have access to multiple specializations that cater to different styles of gameplay
    • Each Javelin now wields a powerful Artifact that can be customized

Exploring Skill Trees

When considering how you grow and become more powerful in Anthem, we observed that Pilot Level isn’t a satisfying measure of your progress, so we set out to answer the question, “What would it look like for Freelancers to become more skillful at piloting each Javelin?” We’ve been exploring the idea of Javelin experience and levels which allow you to permanently unlock Abilities for your Javelin that you can then customize further with Mods.

We’re currently testing these ideas via a new skill tree system. In this system, each Javelin would have a “basic” skill tree where all the baseline Abilities, Passives, Triggered Abilities, and Stat Boost for your Javelin can be unlocked.

We would like you to be able to focus on the specific style of gameplay you like best about your Javelin, so after the basic tree is completed, we’re also testing the concept of Specializations. Each Specialization would have an Advanced Skill Tree where you’ll unlock Specialization-specific Abilities, Upgrades, and more.

In addition to that, the studio is also looking at new Artifacts system! Read on what it means for the overall gameplay.

What is an Artifact?

We’ve heard from you that Components feel like nothing more than stat modifiers. With that in mind, we’re also experimenting with a new Artifacts system to replace them. Artifacts are pieces of super powered tech that set your Javelin and Freelancer apart. Each Javelin type would have a distinct Artifact catering towards its class fantasy. For instance, your Ranger’s rocket pod would be upgraded into the Skyfell Launcher Artifact, a pair of back-mounted pods that transform into powerful rocket launchers.

These Artifacts would change in appearance, depending on what parts you equip. There’s also an opportunity to allow for more interesting decision making. The parts you equip would contribute to a powerful passive ability generated by the Artifact.

Well, there you have it! Hopefully, we’ll see another update on the game before 2020 is done. Don’t forget to check out the previous development update on Anthem regarding the loot (even if it looks similar to Destiny).

Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Review – Value Audio Floozy

Outside of controllers, possibly the most important accessory for any console gamer is a good pair of headsets. There are loads of options available in the market now, and unless you’re an audiophile, most of the good ones have the same sound quality and offer sound cancellation tech as well. For me though, I consider comfort, price and usability as big factors, and that’s where the new Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 shines. Curious? Read on for our review.

Out of the Box

While the Stealth 600 Gen 2 is a wireless headset, it offers the same ease of use as a wired one. Upon opening the box, I just slotted in the USB dongle for Bluetooth connectivity, turned on the headset and voila! That was it. Sure, you can adjust the overall headset and mic volume, but for the most part, it’s painless to pair the Stealth 600 Gen 2 with the PS4.

Configuring the headset isn’t that hard as well. There are two buttons and two dials on the side and that’s it. One button has the universal power button sign carved into it, and holding it will turn on the headset, while holding it again will turn it off.

Just above that is the “Mode” button which gives the player options on what kind of setting they want. There’s “Bass Boost,” Bass + Treble Boost,” “Vocal Boost,” and “Signature Sound.” Personally, I prefer Signature Sound myself, though that’s a matter of preference.

Rounding out the side manual controls are the dials for the overall volume, and the mic volume. Each one has indicators on where to rotate each for a higher or lower volume, and the dials themselves have ridges to prevent accidental dial slidings.

Ninja!

No beating around the bush, what makes the Turtle Beach Stealth series headsets a must-buy for most shooter fans is because of the “Superhuman Hearing” mode. If you’re not familiar with that, think of it as a way to amplify footsteps in shooters, which alerts you if an enemy is near you and where they’re coming from. After using this feature on shooters, and it’s hard to play without ’em.

You know what scenario when an enemy player has some kind of sixth sense and knows where you are or they’re waiting for you? Especially in a footstep-heavy game like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Yeah, there’s a good chance they’re “sound whoring” and it’s amplified a ton if you use this bad boy. It’s kinda like cheating in some cases, but it’s not.

Missing a 100

While the Stealth 600 Gen 2 headset has fantastic sound quality and the mic has no distortion whatsoever, there are a few issues that arose as I used it more and more.

For one thing, while there is a “light cue” on the headset itself when the battery is low, it doesn’t really say how much is left other than pushing you to charge it ASAP. Sure, it might be a minor issue for some, but an actual audible or visual indicator would have been nice.

Regarding battery life, according to Turtle Beach is at 15 hours and based on my testing, it falls around that mark give or take an hour. That said, I’d suggest charging it in advance if you’re going into some heavy gaming sessions, and of course, you can attach the USB-C cable to the headset while gaming if ever it’s really running low.

Finally, another small niggle I had was with the mic and overall “plastic-y” feel of the unit itself. Priced at a modest $100, I wasn’t expecting a suede finish or anything, but the mic when flipped out feels like it could break if I accidentally flipped it down too hard.

Hitting the Beach

If you’re in the market for a budget-friendly headset that offers a competitive edge in multiplayer games, then the Stealth Series 600 Gen 2 is a no-brainer buy. It’s easily more sturdy than Sony’s own Platinum/Gold headsets that have their leatherette peel off after a few months’ use.

However, if some of the issues I’ve raised above are deal breakers for you, then you might want to wait for our Stealth 700 Gen 2 review, as that headset easily squashes most, if not all, the complaints I had with the Stealth 600 Gen 2, and all at just an added $50!

Pros:

  • Easy pair and set up
  • Buttons are quick and easy to acccess and use
  • Superhuman Hearingis game-changer for multiplayer shooters

Cons:

  • Small USB Bluetooth stick means you can get lose it easier
  • Mic has a “plastic-y” feel
  • No power indicator

Stealth Series 600 Gen 2 unit provided by the manufacturer. Reviewed using a PS4 Pro. The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 is available now for $100 on the official Turtle Beach website.

Update: We’ve updated the article to reflect that Stealth 600 Gen 2 does indeed  use USB Type-C cables to charge. Apologies for any confusion caused by this.

Report: Complete Black Ops Cold War Scorestreaks List With Score Requirements Surfaces

Aside from weapons and the perks, one of the things fans are most curious about in every Call of Duty are the killstreaks/scorestreaks. While we had a good amount of those revealed during the beta, it looks like the complete Black Ops Cold War scorestreaks list has surfaced online!

Check out the image below, alongside the needed score requirement in order to obtain each one.

Complete Black Ops Cold War Scorestreaks List:

  • Incendiary Bow (500)
  • RC-XD (600)
  • Body Armor (700)
  • Spy Plane (800)
  • Counter Spy Plane (900)
  • Flamethrower (1000)
  • Care Package (125)
  • Sentry Turret (1400)
  • Death Machine (1500)
  • Cruise Missile (1750)
  • Artillery (2000)
  • Hand Canon (2250)
  • Napalm Strike (2500)
  • Air Patrol (3000)
  • War Machine (3250)
  • Strafe Run (3500)
  • H.A.R.P. (4000)
  • Attack Helicopter (5000)
  • Chopper Gunner (6000)
  • VTOL Escort (8000)
  • Gunship (100000)

There’s also an image available from Reddit user Mathiasxd148- which you can see below.

Note that given this is a leak, and has in no way been confirmed by Activision nor Treyarch, take it with a grain of salt. That said, it does look legit, and even the score values line up with what we’d expect. First thoughts if this is legit? I’m kinda sad that there doesn’t seem to be an equivalent of the Attack Dogs in Black Ops Cold War. Also, people will have to go on insane streaks to reach the upper tier streaks! Even if you use the new score multipliers used in the beta, it’ll take a long time for players to reacha Chopper Gunner or any higher streak.

Lastly, as you can see, some of the streaks are Specialist abilities which should surprise no one given we’ve seen the War Machine in the beta and alpha. We can see Outrider’s bow, Seraph’s Annihilator, Crash’s Body Armor, and Firebreak’s Flamethrower

Thoughts on the list so far? Would you be happy if this was indeed the final Black Ops Cold War scorestreaks list? Or would you change a few things up? Don’t forget to check out the official PC specs for Black Ops Cold War which was revealed today.

Rainbow Six Quarantine and Far Cry 6 Delayed to First Half of 2021

Remember Rainbow Six Quarantine? The PvE shooter revealed back in E3 2019?  Well, that game and Far Cry 6 have officially been pushed back to sometime in 2021! Ubisoft has confirmed that Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine delayed news in the company’s latest earnings report.

According to Ubisoft, the reason for the delay was caused by “production challenges related to work from home” given we’re still knee-deep in the COVID-19 pandemic. Given we didn’t really have a release date for Rainbow Six Quarantine other than “2020,” the delay isn’t that really surprising.

As for Far Cry 6, it was scheduled to hit current and next-gen consoles on February 18, 2021, and unless it gets pushed to July or August, the new release date for the shooter shouldn’t come as a shock to gamers.

You can check out the different editions and pre-order bonuses for Far Cry 6 here.

Aside from Rainbow Six Quarantine and Far Cry 6, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more game delays affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Path of Exile December Update Delayed to Allow Players to Enjoy Cyberpunk 2077

With the news of Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed to December, developer Grinding Gear Games have announced that the Path of Exile December update will now be releasing in January, in effort to not put players in a position to pick one or the other.

In an official forum post, Grinding Gear Games issued the following statement:

We were previously targeting a launch date of December 11 for our 3.13 end-game expansion. As we discussed last week, our new development methodology gives us confidence that we’d be able to hit this date with a high quality expansion. Yesterday, CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will now be released on December 10. We do not want to put our players in a position of having to choose between these two games, so we have decided to step out of the way and delay the release of Path of Exile 3.13 until January.

We still expect to finish 3.13 by early/mid-December. The scope of this expansion will remain unchanged. During the month of delay before release, we will start work on the 3.14 expansion.

The company also said that for those still interested in keeping busy with Path of Exile during the Holiday season, they will be running a multi-week event. Details will be revealed at a later date for this.

As noted, development of this update is remaining unaffected by this delay. A bummer for those expecting it this December, though an understandable reasoning considering how big of a release Cyberpunk 2077 is set to be.

Hopefully we have more details soon, along with the full Path of Exile patch notes for update 3.13.

Demon’s Souls PS5 New Gameplay Features Bosses and More

Regardless if you’ve played Demon’s Souls on PS3 or not, chances are high that you’ll want to see this Demon’s Souls PS5 new gameplay video by Sony! It features bosses, some of the game’s locations and more!

Note that it lasts for more than five minutes, and if you’re someone who absolutely does not want anything spoiled, then you might not want to watch it (it doesn’t spoil much, but still!).

Here’s the info straight from Sony:

In this second look into the daunting world of Boletaria, we journey to the barren lands of Stonefang, one of the five distinct realms of Demon’s Souls. Here, deep beneath the ground, cursed miners feverishly dig for the bones of ancient dragons, vast caverns of molten lava keep the weapon forges of Stonefang lit, and the sound of hammer on anvil never ceases.

You will need to adapt to the situation, understanding when to press your attack at close-quarters and when to punish your enemy from afar. Even so, skill and reactions have their limits, and proper equipment and preparation could be the difference between victory and defeat. And remember that whatever the outcome, every death has meaning and will make the eventual success all the sweeter on your journey to become the Slayer of Demons.

Returning fans will remember the horrors of the Armored Spider and Flamelurker, who lie in wait for the foolhardy in Stonefang. On PS5, we have lovingly recreated these daunting battles so you will believe that your memories have come to life. Every spark and ember, every blow against your shield, and every furious screech, just the way you imagined it.

Demon’s Souls will slash its way onto the PS5 this November 12. While Sony hasn’t made any announcement, rumors are mounting that the game will see a PS4 release too.

Viewable via the new PS App, the new Share Factory trailer shows off some of it’s updated features, and new UI. Since the video is yet to be published on YouTube, we have decided to take a few screenshots that you can find below.

First up is a look at the updated music library, which features more selections of free music.

Now here’s a look at the newly updated timeline that we work with at launch.

The photo editor is also now in 4k, with the video editor also supporting 4K HDR at 60FPS as mentioned in previous stories.

However, one odd inclusion in the trailer is the fact that Bloodborne is being used to market 4K HDR at 60 FPS. The title has yet to receive any kind of 4K, HDR, and 60FPS support other than unofficial mods.

All the other titles listed above have some sort of 4K resolution, though interesting enough all (except MLB) the titles are included in the PS Plus collection, games said to take advantage of the PS5 boost features. Of course in Bloodborne case the footer is referring to the new features in Share Play Factory, though it’s odd to boast support while featuring a game that doesn’t actually support those features.

Perhaps Sony is prepping to release an update as they have been for other old PS4 titles? No knowing for sure, but Bloodborne is definitely one to keep an eye out for.

The new Share Play Studio application for the PS5 will be available on November 12, the same day as the PS5 launch.

PUBG New Update 1.54 Today Now Out, Brings Season 9.1 Into the Game

PUBG Corp. has released the PUBG new update 1.54 today, and it brings Season 9.1 into the battle royale title for consoles. This is a hefty update which includes a new map, features, gameplay changes and more. Head on below for the patch notes.

PUBG New Update 1.54 Today Patch Notes:

New Map: Paramo

Cradled hidden among the clouds in the highlands of South America lies Paramo, an ancient land with ancient secrets. Paramo’s dangers are plentiful, but none so dangerous as the active volcano nearby whose molten lava streams flow across the land. Survivors dropping onto the Paramo Battlegrounds will only be able to reach the highlands via helicopter, which also have the task of distributing Care Packages around the field. Paramo is a 3×3 map with a dynamic world new to PUBG. This dynamic world system alters locations between matches, making every trip to Paramo a unique experience. Read on for the full details!

Seasonal Match

Due to our new Dynamic Map Locations system, Paramo will be provided as a Seasonal Match separate from current matchmaking pool.

  • Paramo is provided as a Seasonal Match exclusive for Season 9 only.
  • Seasonal Match will have bots disabled.
  • Seasonal Match will not count for your Career > Stats.
  • Seasonal Match will have Battlestat feature disabled.
  • Seasonal Match will allow you to complete missions.
  • TPP Squads Only
  • FPP will be supported only in NA and EU regions.
  • Paramo does not support separate brightness control in the ‘Universal Brightness for all Maps’
  • Match beginning time for Paramo will be 120 seconds.

Paramo Map Rules

  • 3×3 km playable area with dynamic map locations.
  • 64 Players
  • No Red Zones
  • The Blue Zone shrinks slowly but deals more damage compared to other maps, even in the early phases of the match.
  • Motorcycles are the only vehicle available on Paramo and can usually be found near small villages.

Paramo: New Features

Dynamic Map Locations

  • Major landmarks and parts of the terrain are relocated in every new session.
  • Players must adapt and use suitable strategies and tactics according to the changes.
  • Several streams of the lava flow from active volcanoes throughout Paramo, presenting a unique environment hazard as you traverse across the map.
  • Stepping foot in lava can lead to a quick death, dealing 10 damage per second to players, ticking every half second.
  • Riding a Motorcycle into lava will destroy your tires and quickly begin to destroy the vehicle, whilst also dealing damage to the player.
  • Unlike other maps, players can wander outside the bounds of the playable area and a warning will display on the screen. Failure to quickly return to the playable area will result in you being killed.
  • New item boxes can now spawn in certain houses.
  • Destroy the boxes to find multiple pieces of loot, such as ammo, throwables, and healing items.
  • Players will drop into the Battleground of Paramo from helicopters.
  • During the match, these helicopters carry precious cargo across the map, with the plan of dropping it just outside the play area. Pay close attention and if you shoot enough rounds into a helicopter, you’ll force it to release the cargo early.
  • Paramo has a handful of Care Packages exclusive, highland themed items not found on other maps, including new full-body camo suits, ghillie suit and backpack.
  • With a critical response kit in your inventory, you will be able to revive a downed squad member in just one second.
  • In Paramo, you might find ‘Secret Room Key’ while looting.. it’s gotta unlock something, right?

Ranked Mode

Ranked Mode just got a little more solo friendly with the introduction of Ranked Solo queue. You’ll now be able to take on the Ranked Battlegrounds against other solo players as you climb the competitive ranks.

Season 9 Begins

A new ranked season has begun. Ranked rewards earned from Season 8 will be granted to your account upon login. For more information on the rewards, see our ranked rewards announcement.

  • Player ranks have been reset
    • Players will be given their initial rank after 5 placement matches.
    • RP has been soft-reset, so your initial Season 9 placement will be influenced by your Season 8 rank.
  • Leaderboards have been reset
    • Final player ranks and the regional Top 500 leaderboards will be finalized once live server maintenance is complete, to ensure all matches are accounted for.
    • View your Season 8 stats and the Top 500 leaderboards of each region under Career > Stats.

Ranked Game Mode Updates

Ranked Solo

  • Solo matches have been introduced to Ranked Mode.
  • These matches will have the same competitive qualities as Ranked Squad matches.
    • 64 players
    • No Red Zones
    • More loot
    • Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi and Sanhok only
    • TPP only

Ranked Leaderboard Changes

For the following regional modes, we’re lowering the minimum rank required to display on the leaderboards from Diamond 2 to Gold 5:

  • Europe
    • TPP Solo and Squads
  • South America
    • TPP Squads

This change has been made to ensure each region has a sufficient percentage of their player base displayed on the leaderboards.

Ranked Mode Ruleset Updates

  • Algorithm Update
    • Points earned per kill and assist have been increased by 50%.
  • Sanhok Blue Zone Adjustment
    • Compared to other maps, the number of players who die in Phase 2 is very high. We’ve made some Blue Zone changes which we believe will improve the overall pacing of Sanhok matches.
      • Increased the size and waiting time of Phase 2
      • Removed the dynamic Blue Zone mechanic which scaled circle speeds based on the number of players alive.
      • Please note, these changes are only to Ranked Sanhok matches.
  • Item Spawns
    • Increased AR/DMR Magazines spawns
    • Increased 4x, 6x and 8x spawns
    • Increased Canted Sight spawns
    • Slightly decreased the spawn rates of 2x and 3x spawns
    • Decreased Handgun/SMG Magazines spawns
    • Decreased Handgun spawns, along with 9mm and .45ACP ammo
  • Vehicle spawns
    • Esports vehicle spawn locations will now always spawn a vehicle.
  • Added to Care Packages
    • MG3 has been added Care Packages on all Ranked maps

Regional Matchmaking Changes

This update to regional queues adds a Solo option to Ranked. In addition, we will now begin adjusting the available queues on a per region basis in an effort to deliver the best experience possible to each region.

When players go to select a game mode in either normal or ranked sections, they will see that the options that are available will be different. At a minimum, the changes will include the addition of a solo ranked option, but depending on the region they may see different combinations of options available in terms of team size, perspective, and ranked/normal matches.

For the game modes available for each region, please see below.

Weapon Balance Update

After the weapon balance adjustment from patch 7.2, we have been receiving lots of feedback from players on how Beryl and SLR are too strong compared to other weapons, and our data has showed that Beryl and SLR were indeed dominant picks among our players. The PUBG team are working on plans to allow players feel more free to choose their weapons based on their surroundings or strategic goals.

With this 9.1 update, we will be making some adjustments to Beryl and SLR. Please note that this won’t be the last update and we will continue to have in-depth monitoring and analysis to provide best gameplay experience.

Custom Match

Custom Match – Observer

A long-requested feature from our community, Custom Match now has observer functionality in almost all of its modes. You can select the “Observer” slot in the custom match lobby to enter the game session as an observer. Detailed observer settings are available under “System Menu – Settings – Gameplay – Observer”.

Custom Match – Match Settings

We are glad to introduce the new ‘Match settings’ feature. You will be able to toggle around through a wide range of game options, such as the Blue/Red Zone, detailed settings on reviving and Flare Gun Package Settings and so on. Features like saving presets and more will be made available over time.

Framerate Priority

The Framerate Priority setting has some exciting changes this time around. The frame cap is now lifted to 60 FPS and the screen resolution will be set to 1920 x 1080 to increase framerates. The new Framerate Priority is available on Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4 Pro, and we are investigating ways to bring the lifted frame cap to other console devices as well. Stay tuned.

  • PS4 Pro Players using a 4K display will have both Framerate and Resolution Priority options available.
  • PS4 Pro Players using a display that doesn’t support 4K resolution will not have the option to turn Framerate Priority on/off, but instead, the resolution will remain the same as all the previous updates at 1920 x 1080p with the frame cap increased to 60 FPS.

Match Standby Time Changes

To resolve the long loading issue, the match beginning time for all maps in Normal mode will be increased to 90 seconds from the previous 60 seconds when Update 9.1 arrives on live servers.

Performance

  • Character animation preloading has been added to improve performance
    • This will result in shorter loading when entering matches and slightly reduced instances of hitching.
    • Although, as the game now loads character animations when first launching PUBG, there will be a slight increase in loading time upon launch.

UX/UI

New Feature: News Page

We’ve added a new News page to the client, which will include helpful info on game contents, promotions, maintenance as well as community messages. All the PUBG info you need in one convenient spot!

  • The News page replaces rolling banners previously located in the top left corner of the lobby.
  • The Patch Note icon at the top right corner of the lobby now opens the News page, which also contains the patch notes.

Lobby Menu Improvements

  • Enhanced the visuals and navigation of the menu.

In-game Store Improvement

  • Along with general navigation bar upgrades, we have also revamped the in-game store for a better experience. Rather than simple crate images, now item sets are displayed with unique key art.

Customize Menu Improvement

  • The structure and layout of the customize menu have been revamped. Categories have been combined to provide quicker and easier navigation.
  • Overall menu structure and layout improvement
    • Category home menu has been deleted for quicker access
    • Streamlined the excess amount of categories (e.g. vehicles)
    • Number of items displayed on the screen has been increased
  • Enhanced searching tools
    • Items earned most recently will be now filtered to the top
    • Search filters have been applied to more categories
    • Added on-off toggle to show or hide face accessories when accessing the appearance category.

Player Status in Party

It has been difficult to distinguish whether a party member had disconnected or was still in a match and we’ve now improved the information displayed right above the characters to share more clear information on their status.

  • New UI and text have been added to clearly state the player’s current status.

Other UI Updates

  • New emote volume control slider has been added under Settings > Audio > Sound > Gameplay section.
  • Now you are able to control the volume of emotes separately from gameplay volume.
  • Karakin map image used in Match history section has been updated.
  • Optimized the UI in Observing Mode to provide more clear visibility.

Custom Key Binding

“Back in August 2020, we had our first Open Dev program where we asked our community to try the Custom Key Binding feature ahead of release and give us early feedback. Custom Key Binding was a tricky feature to develop, but with Open Dev, we were not only able to figure out what you wanted in terms of game controls, but were also able to discover design issues that we weren’t expecting.

To all those that were in the Open Dev program, we would like to thank you for participating. This feature wouldn’t be what it is without your help. And of course, even though the Open Dev program is over, that doesn’t mean we’ll stop receiving feedback on this feature, so please let us know if there’s something with Custom Key Binding you would like to improve upon.”

– PUBG Console Team

You will now be able to bind an action to a key you prefer, as well as make actions activate through button hold instead of tap and vice versa. For example, you can customize the jump and the parkour on different keys and (Tap) to reload in lieu of the traditional (Hold) to reload. But please note that some key binding combinations are restricted as we found that some don’t even allow you to play the game normally.

How-to

  • 1. System Menu – Enter the controller settings menu (image assets can change)
  • 2. Activate customize (Tap) R-Stick Thumb from the controller guide
  • 3. Find and select the custom key binding you wish
  • 4. Find the desired action group and confirm

Brightness Setting Improvement

We have added a guide image to help you set up the right brightness for an improved battle royale experience.

The above screen will greet you when you launch PUBG for the first time. Once you set your brightness preference, it will remain the same unless you adjust the settings under the “Settings – Graphics – Brightness”.

Also, we have added a guide image in the map brightness settings to help you to get an idea of what your brightness will look like on each map.

Changes in Bot Ratio

Ever since the introduction of the AI to our game we have been reviewing the community feedback and at the same time, collecting/analyzing data. As a result, we are now ready to announce some changes to the system.

We have made changes to the ratio of the AI in Normal Matches for those in the higher MMR matchmaking groups. Long story short, now you can have sessions with only human players playing. The session will wait 5 minutes until 100 players(64 for Karakin) have filled up and if it fails to fully fill up, only then the rest number of slots will be filled with bots. Therefore, when the matchmaking conditions are on green light, sessions will be bot-free, leaving only human players.

Report: PSN Wishlist Function Spotted in New App Update

The new PlayStation App update is beginning to roll out across the mobile storefronts, and while there’s much to be happy with it, one function that was discontinued ahead of its launch was the PSN wishlist. Well, seems like the newly updated application has some functionality tied to it as spotted in it’s notification settings.

For those that haven’t heard, earlier this month Sony sent out a memo detailing that a number of PlayStation apps would no longer be supported as they were being moved over under a single application. While great news to many, this announcement was also accompanied with the news that the user wishlist on the PS Store would no longer be supported as it would be discontinued by the company. No news of whether it would be replaced was provided by Sony, though the new PlayStation App seems to at least have some sort of support for it.

Under the “Push Notifications” menu in settings, users will notice a new function under Accounts and Offers that allows them to toggle wishlist updates.

As far as we know this is the only mention of a PSN wishlist on the app, as we are still unable to create one since its discontinuation. It’s possible that this is merely a remnant and something Sony forgot to remove on their end, so for now take this as a possibility as nothing has been officially announced. We’ll try and reach out to Sony to see if we can get any clarification on this.

Personally, I never used the feature mostly because the lack of a gifting system for friends and family. A gifting option certainly could have worked well with the wishlist and hopefully that’s on the road map for future PS Store updates.

New PlayStation App and Features Showcased, Out Later Today

  • Voice Chat and Party Groups – You can now create party groups from PS App, and voice chat with up to 15 other friends though your mobile phone. Also, a note to fans: the PlayStation team is looking into your feedback around the Parties changes introduced in the PS4 system software update 8.00. There are no updates to share today, but thanks for speaking up about your concerns – we’re listening and evaluating.
  • Natively integrated PlayStation Store and remote downloads – The new native PS Store experience enables fast and smooth shopping and browsing, with the ability to remotely download games and add-ons directly to your PS4 and PS5.

The app is out today on iOS (12.2 or newer firmware), and Android (6.0 and newer firmware). You can download it on iOS or Android via the links.
