Bandai Namco Will Let You Buy Code Vein With Actual Blood

If you’re an active gamer like me, then chances are your wallet is just as empty due to all the constant video game sales that have been going on lately. And with the Holiday season finally about to kick into high gear you’ll probably be flat out broke by Christmas. Well, luckily for you Namco Bandai has revealed a rather clever promotional campaign that’ll net you a copy of Code Vein, and all you’ll have to do is give them some of your blood — yes, that’s not a joke.

Alright, it’s not literally to Namco Bandai, but it’s for a good cause. Teaming up with American Red Cross, Namco Bandai has announced that for those that donate blood on September 27 at Twitchcon you will be eligible for a free copy of Code Vein along with a promo blood kit.

This campaign will unfortunately only be available at the Twitchcon location, so for all you that live out in San Diego go on and donate some blood for those in need if you want a “free” copy of Code vein.

Code Vein launches this Friday, September 27th on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Microsoft to Launch Carbon Neutral Xbox Consoles

Earlier today we reported on PlayStation’s plans to reduce carbon emission by creating consoles that were designed far less energy, and as we mentioned PlayStation was just one of the many companies to take environmental initiative as it has now been revealed by Microsoft that they plan on launching 800,000 Xbox that are carbon neutral

In a statement issued by members of the UN they believe the video game industry could play a crucial role in environmental change for the better.

“The video games industry has the ability to engage, inspire and captivate the imaginations of billions of people across the world. This makes them a hugely important partner in addressing the climate emergency,” said Inger Andersen, Executive Director, UN Environment Programme (UNEP). “We are encouraged by the commitment of these gaming companies, which shows recognition that we all must play our role in the global effort to lower carbon emissions and effect real change towards sustainability.”

As mentioned above, PlayStation is already working on solutions and Microsoft has also revealed their plans in a recent blog post. The post details Microsoft’s plans of action by promising that they will begin manufacturing consoles that are carbon neutral. They will begin with a total of 825,000 xbox consoles, although they don’t specify whether these will be systems in the Xbox One family or their previously announced at E3 Project Scarlet system.

Going from carbon neutral operations to carbon neutral products: Microsoft’s business operations have operated carbon neutral since 2012. Today we are beginning the journey of extending that to our products and devices with a pilot to make 825,000 Xbox consoles carbon neutral. These are the first gaming consoles to be carbon neutral. While just a pilot, we’re already looking at what we can do to further reduce and neutralize carbon across devices in the future.

“In addition, Microsoft will engage gamers in sustainability efforts in real life through the Minecraft its ‘Build a Better World’ initiative, which has seen players take more than 20 million in-game actions.” according to the UN post. This will mark the first system from the big three (Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo) that will be carbon neutral.

Of course they won’t just be focusing on gaming as this plan of action will be company wide as they work towards more environmental friendly hardware and software. Others will be joining Microsoft and Sony, which include Ubisoft, Google Stadia and other game studios and platforms as they produce more titles focused on restoring the environment and educating gamers on the subject better than they currently do. These plans even include changing how they package their content, moving from plastic to recycled materials.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Upcoming Content This Week Outlined in New Video and Info

In case you didn’t know, DICE is releasing a new Star Wars Battlefront 2 patch this week, which will add the Clone Commando, a new map and more in the game. Just to remind everyone of what’s coming, DICE has released a Star Wars Battlefront 2 upcoming content video and info blowout!

DICE will release the Battlefront 2 patch on all platforms this September 25, and players can expect the Felucia map, the new PvE modes Instant Action and Co-Op, the Clone Commando, and a host of gameplay changes. Also, Luke Skywalker will be getting the “Farmboy Appearance” he had in Star Wars: A New Hope, which can be obtained by completing a special in-game challenge.

The Clone Commando

Clone Commandos were elite operatives deployed by the Galactic Republic in high-profile missions across the galaxy. In Star Wars Battlefront II, Clone Commandos wield the DC-17m Repeating Blaster Rifle with an Anti-Armor Attachment, providing a lethal flexibility to engage both light and heavy targets.

Mounted on the Commando’s left arm, the repulsor releases a powerful shockwave knocking enemies off their feet. The Battle Focus Ability provides a damage reduction buff to nearby allies, while replenishing the Commando’s own health if damage is dealt to an enemy at the same time.

In other words: an all-round powerhouse on the battlefront. Time to show those clankers who’s in charge.

Clone Commando abilities overview!

Felucia – An Enchantingly Exotic Battlefront

There’s nowhere quite like Felucia.

With tentacle-like vegetation (hey, are these things watching us?), funguses exploding with poisonous gas if shot at, and a plethora of beaming colors and pulsating life, this world is a sight to behold. Players will come across farmlands, pouring rivers, and a settlement soaked in details such as enterable house pods dotted with things left behind by their inhabitants. All accompanied by the enclosing ambience of the planet’s rich wildlife.

Speaking of wildlife: did we mention the giant sarlacc pit? There’s a giant sarlacc pit! Don’t fall down.

Felucia map overview!

Instant Action is Back and Brings Co-Op Along!

Long-time Star Wars Battlefront fans will remember the Instant Action mode fondly. So, we believe it’s about time to introduce it in Star Wars Battlefront II.

With this update, Instant Action enables you to jump into offline, large-scale combat against AI foes in scuffles to control a majority of the command posts across the map (similar to how the ground phase in Capital Supremacy works).

In Co-Op, on the other hand, you’ll squad up with three other players to contest objectives while taking on the AI enemies together.

Both modes launch on Clone Wars era locations with AI controlled troopers, reinforcements, and heroes. Hone your skills, have fun with your friends, or just lean back and enjoy larger-than-life Star Wars battles without the fierce competition from human players.

The Farmboy attire for Luke Skywalker can be nabbed by partaking in a special in-game challenge from October 11-18, where players will be tasked to take out 150 AI enemies in the new Co-Op mode. Also during this timeframe, Darth Maul’s “Kenobi” emote will be rewarded to everyone who captures 15 command posts on Felucia in the Capital Supremacy mode.
Check out the rest of the September 2019 roadmap right here.

Marvel’s Avengers Black Widow Character Spotlight and Details Released

Crystal Dynamic shared some new Marvel’s Avengers details this week, focusing on the super spy Black Widow. Taking to Twitter, the official Marvel’s Avenger account released a series of posts detailing some fresh new information on the character, from her costume to gameplay, and even what we can expect from her during the story. You can read up on all the info below along with some videos focused around her.

Black Widow is a super spy, and her outfit is designed around her gadgets and her strong need for agility

She has more gadgets than any other hero in the game and they all need to be properly incorporated into her suit

After the events of A-Day, Black Widow slips back into the shadows. Despite saving numerous civilians, her failure to help Cap leaves her wracked with guilt, returning to a life of a lone-wolf spy.

We’re tackling elements of Black Widow’s leadership abilities. We really get to show Black Widow in her element. Embracing parts of her personality & skillset that may have been downplayed when the Avengers were together.

“Black Widow is a really complex and nuanced character; so it only makes sense that her gameplay and mechanics are designed in a way that compliments those aspects of her character,” reveals Vince Napoli, Lead Combat Designer at CrystalDynamic

“In a manner that is fitting of a trained assassin, Widow’s gameplay loop is all about creating & exploiting enemy vulnerabilities. Whether attacking enemies from behind or putting enemies into stun states that lead to quick take downs, playing Black Widow is about efficiency.”

“For example, when utilizing her grapple correctly, it’s both a pre-emptive defensive attack designed to counter enemies before they strike, as well as a move to initiate combat at large distances from the ground or in air.”

As versatile as she is deadly, Widow is just as effective from a distance as she is up-close and personal. “Regardless of how you choose to play Widow —whether you’re focusing on subterfuge or style, gadgets or guns— her combat and gameplay style always feels distinct.”

Exploding on impact with any surface or enemy, the sphere creates a small electrical hazard that will cause continuous damage to enemies within range. With one of the fastest cooldown times & the ability to store up to three charges, Widow’s Bite allows for flexibility in a fray.

With Natasha, stealth is the name of the game. Activating her Support Heroic ability will cloak her and any nearby team members in a field of invisibility. This allows them to take advantage of an enemy’s unaware state, performing critical attacks in saftey and with style. As for her third Heroic? Super-spy Natasha regularly plays cards close to her chest, so we’re following suit.

Of course there’s also a spotlight video showcasing her combat, though it’ll look familiar as its from the original gameplay reveal.

If you missed it, make sure to read up on last week’s character spotlight which focused on Iron Man. There’s also one for Captain America and Hulk, and we expect Thor spotlight posts to release next week.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Impressions – Aiming Down Sights

Before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare hits store shelves on October 25, Infinity Ward has released the Modern Warfare beta on PS4 this past weekend. We’re fortunate to have played the game a lot — enough that we’re confident enough to weigh in on our Modern Warfare beta review (impressions, but you get what we mean).

Note that we’re only going to be talking about the available modes, weapons, perks and the like, so this impressions piece isn’t an actual review of the multiplayer mode, since one perk, one equipment, etc., can and will change the gameplay experience drastically. But for the most part, we’ve played enough of the beta to weigh in on the gunplay, actual combat, and list down what we like and didn’t like so far.

Methodical Slaughter

The first thing you’ll notice if you played the Modern Warfare beta is, it’s a lot slower than what we’re used to in terms of Call of Duty multiplayer — at least compared to the ones we got the past few years. Now, I’m not referring to the game not including boost jumps, wallrunning or whatnot, but the overall feel, movement, feels very weighted, though not clunky. It does take some getting used to, and while some might not like how slow it is, it fits what Infinity Ward is aiming for, which is more grounded warfare and be a bit more realistic than the past titles in the franchise.

modern warfare beta code giveaway

Of course, there is a big factor that changed due to how slow the movement and even aiming down sights (ADS) has become, and that’s gameplay pace. Playing through the beta, it’s hard to just run and gun and do well like in previous Call of Duty games. In Modern Warfare (at least in the beta), you had to pre-aim (meaning walking while aiming down sights) to offset the slow aim down sight time, and the game has an overall feel of rewarding those with more passive play styles.

For now, it’s up in the air whether this move by Infinity Ward will pay off and whether die-hard Call of Duty fans will embrace it long-term. What I can say is, it’s something that does take some getting used to, and there is still an element of run and gun element in the game, though it’s a lot more deliberate now.

Setting Up Your Tent

Leading up to the “more deliberate” play style we mentioned above is how the game seems to favor guarding territories (read: camping) above all else. Putting in the Restock and Sharpnel perks, you can make sure an area is safeguarded from intruders. Couple that you can mount weapons on walls, ledges and such to significantly reduce recoil, and the slow ADS speed, and well, you get the idea.

modern warfare beta level cap

Not to say that camping is entirely bad. I’m a firm believer that camping is a legit play style, though one that relies less on reflexes and more on catching enemies unaware.

That said, camping might get you kills but it won’t win you matches — at least in objective-based modes. However, based on my time playing, a lot of people didn’t really care that much about winning, which is par for the course when it comes to Call of Duty games.

Missing Scorestreaks

Another thing worth mentioning that has significantly affected gameplay is how killstreaks have replaced scorestreaks. In the beta, attacking objectives will get you score, which is useful in placing higher in the in-game scoreboard, and that’s basically it. You won’t get nearer your killstreak reward, which means that less and less players are willing to give up their life to cap a flag, guard an objective and such.

While there will be a perk that lets players gain killstreak rewards by chaining points (called the Point Man perk), I do believe players who want to go after objectives shouldn’t be penalized by needing to have one of their perk slots allocated just for it. This is one of the cases where I hope Infinity Ward checks their data, and does something about it since we don’t need more hindrances for people to not go after objectives, right?

modern warfare beta pc requirements

Gunplay on Fire

While this Modern Warfare beta impressions piece might have focused on some of the negatives so far, the game does nail a lot of things right as well, and chief among ’em is the gunplay. In the beta, the gunplay feels very, very satisfying. Bullets hit with a meaty thud, grenades and claymores explode in a satisfying way. The time-to-kill (TTK) is also in a very good spot too. It’s not as drawn out like in Black Ops 4, and it doesn’t feel too fast that you can’t escape enemies if they catch you, either. Possibly the two most important things that devs have a hard time getting right in multiplayer shooters, Infinity Ward managed to nail ’emstraight away.

Another thing that the beta did well is how fantastic the audio work is. Save for footsteps (which is something Infinity Ward has confirmed is being worked on), the gun sounds, explosions, and the like, all sound fantastic. Dare I say it, I think it might have the best gun sounds in any Call of Duty game to date — at least in my opinion.

The gunplay, TTK, and audio design all melds with the recoil system that Infinity Ward has excellently implemented in the game. While we didn’t get to try out all the guns, the ones in the beta felt different from each other, and each gave a nice kick when it comes to recoil, too. Once you’ve grown accustomed to its recoil though, getting kills with that particular weapon felt very satisfying.

If the beta is any indication, players will have a lot of fun understanding and mastering the recoils of each weapon. Not only that, but Gunsmith is another addition that should be the norm in all Call of Duty games moving forward. If you thought you could customize guns before in past Call of Duty games, you haven’t seen nothing yet! In Modern Warfare, each gun slot (barrel, grip, sights, etc.) can be customized with different parts. For example, you can slot in a muzzle break for the barrel, or put in a tactical suppressor, and each one brings in different pros and cons to the table. What’s interesting here is, two players can be using the same weapon but each one can feel completely different due to the attachments they’ve slotted in. There are literally hundreds — if not thousands — of combinations players can do for each gun.

Call of Battlefield?!

In the Modern Warfare beta, Infinity Ward unveiled the studio’s new large scale take on Ground War. In previous COD games, Ground War meant 9v9 matches. Well, in Modern Warfare, that jumped to being 32v32 skirmishes which even included vehicles!

modern warfare beta

Anyone who’s ever heard of DICE’s Battlefield franchise will immediately feel familiar with Infinity Ward’s take on Ground War, and it doesn’t shy away from it, either. There are five capture points (like in Battlefield’s Conquest game mode), there are vehicles, you can spawn on your capped flag or squadmate and so on. There are a lot of similarities to the Battlefield franchise, though I do admit, it feels not as balanced as DICE’s offerings (which is understandable since this is the Call of Duty franchise’s first take on large scale warfare), though it’s off to a good start.

From what I played so far, Ground War could be something truly special for the franchise, save for a few gameplay tweaks and such. That said, Infinity Ward should be applauded for trying something new and as ambitious as this. Once the final game is out, I can see myself jumping into the mode to break the cycle of playing 6v6 matches and whatnot.modern warfare map list

Gunrunning Made Easy

While there are some parts of the beta I’m a bit worried about (spawns, enemies indoors can’t properly be seen, etc.), I’m confident Infinity Ward can iron these kinks out in time for launch. Hey, this is why betas are rolled out in the first place, right?

Save for those though, the studio has made some bold moves that I’m hoping will pay off in the long run. I’m cautious but optimistic in what I’ve played so far, and with a few nip and tucks, Modern Warfare could be one of the best Call of Duty multiplayer experiences we’ve had in a long while.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta played on PS4 Pro. Access provided by Activision. Modern Warfare is set for release this October 25 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The Last of Us 2 New Teasers Released for State of Play

In anticipation for tomorrow’s State of Play event by Sony, Naughty Dog have released some The Last of Us 2 new teasers leading up to The Last of Us 2 reveal.

The teasers have been releasing on a daily basis since the original teaser dropped last week, each one focusing on an item of importance to a character. The first one we saw was of Ellie’s signature knife.

The second one was the hammer seen used by Anna in the E3 gameplay footage.

The next one is of a bracelet worn by the character named Dina seen in the E3 gameplay trailer.

And finally, after many had speculated we get the last teaser of Joel’s watch.

We’re sure these teasers have a deeper meaning behind them, and thankfully they are at least teasing Joel, which many are speculating may in fact be absent from the game due to some untimely death. We certainly hope that isn’t the case, but hopefully tomorrow’s State of Play reveal should clear some of that up.

We are also rumored to get a release date reveal along with potentially some details on the leaked collectors edition. As of now the rumors point to a February 2020 release date, exclusively to the PlayStation 4.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Issues Being Looked Into Listed by Infinity Ward

Well, it’s officially over! The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta has now shut its servers earlier. In a new post by Infinity Ward, the studio thanked the fans for participating, and also listed some of the Modern Warfare beta issues being looked into by the studio.

Feedback We’re Looking Into:

During the Beta, you sent us your comments, suggestions, and bugs. We’ll continue to update you on the status of these bugs after the Beta as well! The list below captures some of the feedback you provided, so please don’t be alarmed if you don’t see a particular issue you reported in the list below. Let’s take a look at some of the feedback we’re looking into:

• Blurriness while ADSing or on the matchmaking screen on PC

• Crashes on Xbox One and PC (please check existing threads on here if you’re experiencing one of these crashes)

• Players are unable to chat with console platforms while on PC

• Players were able to change their input device midmatch. We deployed a fix for this during the beta.

• Recon Drone UI staying on screen after using

• Juggernaut Suit not spawning out of the crate and the mask staying on screen after the player has died in the suit and respawned back in to match

• Ground War: In some cases, players would spawn or be ‘pushed’ under the map, allowing them to kill enemy players while being hidden. Friendlies are also able to spawn on under the map as well. We’re looking into how you spawn on your teammates as well as spawning in on vehicles in general, too.

• Players are unable to shoot through open rails/towers

• Screen tearing on character and weapon models on Xbox

• VTOL Jet firing through the roof of various buildings in Quarry

• Suppressed M13 still uses normal audio sounds

• Settings not saving on PC

• FOV Slider setting reverting to default after loading into the map. This has been fixed.

• Doors not opening or closing as intented. In some cases, players are able to see through closed doors.

• Cyber Attack: Unable to defuse the bomb. Unable to pick up a weapon after being revived

• Various audio bugs where the only audio being played is of vehicles, no audio, or only weapons

• Xbox users: We know of a bug with invites and joining up from the Xbox Dashboard. While this is being investigated, you can still send invites and join up with friends within the game.

• Staying as a Party after a match: After completing a match as a party, some players are unable to find a new match and are stuck in the matchmaking lobby. We’re still looking into this issue, but in the meantime, disbanding your party and joining back up is a temporary solution while we work on a fix.

• Spawning and Visuals: Spawning is currently inconsistent on some maps, so thank you for sharing your videos with us and sharing your feedback. We’ll continue to monitor the spawn system and we’ll update you if we deploy any changes. We will also be looking into lighting and exposure on various areas of the map, such as how you view dark rooms from the outside of a building and vice versa, for example.

• Voice chat: Voice chat is inconsistent when joining up with players on other platforms. This is being investigated.

Note that just because it’s not listed doesn’t mean Infinity Ward isn’t looking into it. Stay tuned for our Modern Warfare beta impressions hitting the site very soon.

PS5 Suspend Gameplay Feature Confirmed, to Be More Energy Efficient

Sony has revealed their plans to help combat climate changes, confirming that their next generation PlayStation (what we assume will be called the PS5) will be more efficient than the PS4 when gameplay is suspended.

In a PlayStation Blog announcement, President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Jim Ryan outlines some of the work they have done to reduce carbon emissions.

At SIE, we have made substantial commitments and efforts to reduce the power consumption of the PS4 by utilizing efficient technologies such as System-on-a-Chip architecture integrating a high-performance graphics processor, die shrink, power scaling, as well as energy saving modes such as Suspend-to-RAM. For context, we estimate the carbon emissions we have avoided to date already amount to almost 16 million metric tons, increasing to 29 million metric tons over the course of the next 10 years (which equals the CO2 emissions for the nation of Denmark in 2017).

Unsurprisingly the next generation of PlayStation (PS5) will also feature the ability to suspend gameplay and power down into rest mode, which Jim Ryan states will consume less power than the PlayStation 4 currently does.

I am also very pleased to announce the next generation PlayStation console will include the possibility to suspend gameplay with much lower power consumption than PS4 (which we estimate can be achieved at around 0.5 W). If just one million users enable this feature, it would save equivalent to the average electricity use of 1,000 US homes.

Jim closes off stating that the gaming industry has opportunities and leaders should work together to help raise awareness and educate others.

Definitely good news for many as not only will we still be able to suspend our gameplay, but it’ll be a far more efficient machine when it comes to power consumption. No doubt this will also play into many other areas outside of rest mode.

There is currently no solid release date for the next PlayStation, though we do expect to hear more about it early next year. Here’s what it look like now as a dev kit (though don’t expect it to look like that at launch).

Mobile Gaming Continues to Grow

If you are one of those gamers who was born before the 1990s and caught the first area of competitive video gaming, i.e. esports, then mobile gaming doesn’t really sound like something worth dwelling on. Even today, the West just doesn’t seem ready for mobile gaming – at least not what the fans of Diablo, Warcraft and StarCraft understand under ‘gaming’.

Just remember what happened when Diablo Immortal, the first game for mobile by Blizzard in the Diablo franchise, was announced. A person from the audience politely asked the presenter whether the announcement was meant as an ill-fated joke.

Yet, mobile gaming is big. Just look around you. Female players are seen all over the place. Believe it or not – women do play games, and they might even play more often than men. Men tend to play competitive or ‘cool’ games, whereas women are quite happy with casual games downloaded from the Google and App Store. And you are probably asking yourself – well, since that’s casual gaming, how big can it really be?

According to Newzoo, we’re looking at a $100-billion market for mobile games alone by 2021. Now you probably understand why mobile gaming is gaining momentum even in the west. Or to put it this way, companies are going to push more games for mobile – whether you like it or not.

The Mobile Gaming Industry in Numbers

Now, $100-billion should definitely be one of the main incentives why companies are going after the mobile segment. Over 45 % of the global gaming market, in fact, belongs to mobile. While initial predictions didn’t expect such a heady growth, games for smartphones will now be bringing 59% of all revenue, Newzoo believes.

Estimated 25% of all the spending will be in China, where titles such as Honor of King have made headlines and have consolidated themselves as some of the most played games. One specific region where a mobile game will continue to grow is Southeast Asia (SEA) where gamers continue to opt for Honor of Kings, Mobile Legends, PUBG: Mobile and many other games.

More interestingly still, 50% of all mobile gamers are women. Games such as Candy Crush, Pokemon GO are completely killing it, as they offer both a competitive and casual element to them. Sensor Tower, a company specializing in tracking mobile performance, has been keeping an eye on the revenues of the most popular mobile games.

For example, Pokemon Masters, a new mobile game following the footsteps of Pokemon GO, just hit $25 million in revenue within the first week of its release, Sensor Tower reported. Mobile is definitely one of the defining segments, but why is that?

Hardware and Social Mores Play a Part

Engagement with mobile gaming is an interesting phenomenon. In places like Malaysia, there will be a very strong following mobile games whereas fewer people would play that in Europe and North America.

The question is – why? One explanation is that in the West, better PC and console hardware is more readily available, mostly because of the price of the technology. For example, buying a high-end PC in the west was for years far cheaper than in places like Malaysia where the medium salary didn’t quite cut a Western standard.

The times simply occasioned a shift towards older PC titles. That’s why in places like Vietnam, for example, Age of Empires, a game released in 1997 is still exceptionally popular. Many gamers can see a reason in that as well.

As to mobile and female engagement, one explanation is that women are perhaps not too keen to spend time in front of a PC. Whether this is prejudice or preference, nobody can really tell. However, in the 21st century, there’s far less stigma towards people who spend a lot of time playing video games.

Video gaming, of course, cuts into the time we could be spending on other activities – and more productive ones at that – but thanks to mobile gaming, we can actually be on a boring commute and still get some time into a game we like.

Accessibility Explains It All

The increase in mobile gaming is mostly synonymous to accessibility and less relevant to different types of games. Video games, odds betting and casino gaming have all seen an increase when it comes to mobile playing but online betting is the fastest growing segment. Recent studies show that about 60% of all bets made online are actually done on mobile devices. In certain regions the percentage is even higher. The increase in sports betting in Asians and African regions correlates directly to recent developments of infrastructure and increased access to modern smartphones.

The 10% yearly growth in the mobile gaming industry is perhaps not surprising considering that there are more than 5 billion mobile users around the world. This number is expected to grow to above 7 billion by 2020, making 75% of the world population connected to mobile devices.

Compared to PC gaming, at a growth rate of only 4% the question is of course how this slow growing market will be able to survive the much faster segment of mobile gaming.

As smartphone accessibility even from a very young age continues to increase, there is no doubt the mobile sector will continue to increase from their current 45% hold of the overall global gaming market. What the PC gaming sector will do about this is yet to see.

New Batman Game Teaser Releases, Scott Snyder Potentially Hints at Court of Owls

Warner Bros Montreal have released a new Batman game teaser, giving us a more clear look at the symbols found in yesterday’s teaser.

The tweet’s caption reads “Capture the Knight,” which obviously refers to the Dark Night himself, Batman. You can see the teaser down below, which again is just of the symbols from yesterday’s tease only far more visible.

In related news, director Scott Snyder (Writer and Co-creator of The Court of Owls Batman comic run) posted a tweet that has now since been deleted potentially suggesting that the announcement is Court of Owls related. For those unaware, the Court of Owls is a secret organized crime group in Gotham City.

Of course he could have just thrown that out there, but if that were the case why delete the tweet? In fact we say it’s likely he knows what the project may be considering his long history working with DC and mostly because of his run of The Court of Owl. Only time will tell and hopefully we won’t have to wait long as PlayStation will be hosting a State of Play tomorrow, which is what many are speculating the Batman reveal to take place at. Along with this it has also been long rumored that the game story will focus on the court of owls story arc from the comics. Obviously we don’t expect an exact one to one story as we will most likely see their (Wb Montreal) own twist on the plot, but nonetheless it will definitely make fans happy to see the Court of Owl run turned into a video game as it’s considered one of Synder’s best work in the New 52 series.

We will be sure to update you all as this develops and we look forward to covering it if it turns out to be a new game, which we no doubt believe will.

Check out the list of new stuff straight from the press release.

Black Ops 4 update today September 22 new content:

  • New Blackout Updates – Blackout features a fresh new comic book aesthetic. Additionally, players can now double-jump and catch some serious air in the limited-time game mode, Heavy Metal Heroes. With Heavy Metal Heroes new equipment such as flare guns and a brand-new tank vehicle have also been added to the battlefield to help players in the ultimate Battle Royale fire-fight.
  • New Zombies Features – Operation Dark Divide introduces a new Perk and two new Elixirs as players experience the final chapter of the Aether story.
  • Secret Shopper Elixer: Players will be able to go on an ammo shopping spree and buy any ammo for any gun they’re holding from any wall buy.
  • Power Vacuum Elixer: The drop rate for all power ups is boosted significantly for a few minutes after activating.

Also available are the MkII and the Mastercraft variants of the VKM 750, the Predator S6 Stingray Mastercraft, and two super outfits for Nomad (“Lupine”) and Crash (“Rigor Mortis”).

Black Ops Pass owners will gain the following new content:

  • New Multiplayer Map, Lair – Set in the lair of a mega villain, this medium-sized map is built around a volcano’s caldera. Players must weave around the multi-level map to strategically gain the upper hand before the volcanically powered Death Laser goes off.
  • Multiplayer Map, Launch – Reimagined from the original Call of Duty®: Black Ops, Launch is a medium-sized map set in a launch pad at a Soviet Cosmodrome. Players will have to make sure they don’t get caught in the middle of the rocket launch during the fire fight.
  • The Zombies Experience, Tag Der Toten – The Victis Crew returns for their final outing of the Aether storyline. The last chapter of a decades long epic in the making is here for players to immerse themselves into. Elements of the fan-favorite Call of the Dead map have been re-imagined and expanded, so players can explore new areas and solve ever increasingly difficult Easter Eggs that tell the real story.

This is the final Operation in the Black Ops Season, and with Modern Warfare due out next month, it’s a toss-up whether we’ll see anything as big as this again in the future. Don’t think about that though. Those playing Black Ops 4, enjoy the new content.

Borderlands 3 Xbox One Shutdown Bug Still Happening, No Official Comment From Gearbox Yet

If you’re one of the many people playing Borderlands 3 on Xbox One online and partying up, chances are, you’ve encountered the Borderlands 3 Xbox One shutdown bug! Not familiar with it? It’s a game bug that happens whenever you matchmake.

Reddit user highpercentage has posted a reminder of it on the Xbox One subreddit reminding people that yes, it’s still a thing.

BL3 is still shutting off XB1 consoles during matchmaking. That’s not to mention freezes requiring restarts.

I’m normally pretty chill on bugs. Pop in, frame rate, those things happen and get patched out or we learn to live with them. But I feel like this isn’t getting enough criticism. Games that shut down consoles shouldn’t ship, and if they do the media should be mentioning it in reviews and gearbox should be issuing apologies.

I dunno, I feel like Gearbox is getting a pass here. Games have taken a lot of heat for less.

As of the moment, Gearbox Software, nor 2K Games have issued any fix or acknowledgement of it. We’ve reached out to 2K PR and will update the post if and when we get a response.

If you’re unsure whether to get Borderlands 3, I suggest reading our review to help you decide.

Hideo Kojima Explains Why He Choose Mads as Death Stranding Antagonist , Would Love to Collaborate With Keanu in Future Projects

It’s no surprise that Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding game creator, Hideo Kojima has always wanted to make his titles feature big Hollywood movie stars. With Metal Gear he based the main character, Snake on that of Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken character from Escape from New York. He eventually ended up getting Kiefer Sutherland to provide facial capture and voice work for Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V, and of course his upcoming title Death Stranding is jam packed with high profile movie stars such as Death Stranding antagonist, Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal). While we’ve known that Keanu Reeves was at one point considered to be in Death Stranding, Kojima has recently shed some light on the subject explaining why it didn’t happen though is still open to the idea of working with the actor.

In a recent interview done by GamesSpot, Kojima discusses the genre he is calling “Social Stranding” along with various things such as the future of the series. He closes off the interview by answering a question related to the recent news that came to light that he had Keanu Reeves as an option to be in Death Stranding.

“Keanu is a great guy. I have a close friend, Nicolas Refn, he introduced me to Mads (Mads Mikkelsen) and I made an offer to Mads to be in the game. I went to Denmark and talked to Nicolas again before I gave the offer to Mads, and I said I met Mads a couple of times but I really wanted to reconfirm with Nicolas that I really should work with Mads. Nicolas said, “I made Mads grow. He’s great, but the best guy is Keanu,” and he was doing Neon Demon at that time. So he was trying to persuade me to use Keanu, and I thought maybe I will change from Mads to Keanu.” Kojima continues, “But I did write the character for Mads, imagining him, so I am very happy that I offered it to Mads in the end.”

This certainly is a contrast to what happens a lot of time in the film industry itself, as often times parts are written for specific actors only for studio not being able to hire them due to money, time, or they simply aren’t interested in the role. It doesn’t seem like there’s any hard feelings between Kojima and Keanu as we already know they have spent some time together, and Kojima has commented in the same interview that he would definitely be interested in working with the actor on other projects, be it another game or perhaps a film.

“Keanu is a great guy, and in the future it would be great if we could work together. It could be a game, or maybe a movie or TV I might work on, so maybe next time. But I want to say Mads is really great. When I met Keanu, I was shocked that he was so polite; a real good guy. Were are only one year apart in age, so the appreciation towards a lot of things are similar, I think. So in the future, I would like to offer something to Keanu.”

In other Death Stranding news, the game’s launch trailer has just been teased, which means the game might be going gold soon.

Report: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Map List Uncovered by Data Miners, Classic Maps Hinted

To no one’s surprise, PC Data miners have peeked into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PC beta client giving us full details on the possible maps that will appear, including some classic fan favorites such as Rust from Modern Warfare 2.

Responding to credible Call of Duty leaker, PC Data Miner and Twitter User DontBodyYaself posted an image of a memory dump from the files of Modern Warfare, confirming some of the maps in the game.

  • Dominion
  • AirfieldTest
  • Aniyah Palace
  • Aniyah Tac
  • Breakneck (Mayday)
  • Azhir Cave (Night)
  • Azhir Cave
  • Crash2
  • Dam
  • Deadzone
  • Desert Grounded
  • Scorch
  • Dome (Genesis)
  • Down Town (Varskaya District)
  • Euphrates Bridge
  • Fallen (Throwback)
  • Faridah
  • Farms2 (Smetna Farms)
  • Frontier
  • Geneva (Renaissance)
  • Gulag
  • Hackney Yard
  • Hackney Yard (Night)
  • Hosptial
  • Layover
  • Lumber
  • Cargo
  • Hill
  • Hook
  • King Day
  • King Night
  • Docks
  • Pine
  • Showers
  • Speedball
  • Stack
  • Malyshev
  • Metropolis (Precinct)
  • Milbase 1
  • Milbase 2
  • Neon
  • Genesis Holiday
  • Oasis
  • Parkour (Breakout)
  • Petrogad
  • Piccadilly
  • Port 2
  • Noir
  • Prison
  • Proto (Frost)
  • Quarry (Crusher)
  • karst River Quarry
  • grazna raid
  • Retaliation
  • Skydock
  • rivne
  • Gun Runner
  • Gun Runner (Night)
  • Rivne
  • Rust
  • Shipment
  • Shipment (Night)
  • Skyway  (Terminal)
  • Slums

  • Spear (Night)
  • Speed
  • Stadium
  • Sub Base
  • Super
  • Syrkistan
  • Takedown
  • Torez
  • Transit
  • TV Station
  • March

Note that obviously all these maps won’t make it into the game, and it’s likely some are left over names/code as suggested by data miners. Interesting enough we can see a few classic maps such as Terminal, Rust, and Shipment. There may be some truth to this at least as an image was found within the files of Rust’s map loading screen, which you can find below.

We also reported last week of the Dead Man’s Switch Perk, which also happened to showcase a new map that isn’t present in the beta. You can read up on that here: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Dead Man’s Switch Perk First Look Again, the map list isn’t 100% accurate as often times developers will leave old code in there and even port content from previous games.

In fact it’s noted by multiple data miners that there is some coding from Infinity Ward’s previous game, Infinite Warfare. It’s also been suggested that some of these maps aren’t actually full fledged maps but instead tied to the rumored Battle Royale mode. It has been suggested that the map titled Gulag is actually a location in Battle Royale that players are sent to after dying to fight it out with other players, though this is according to the same data miner listed above.

Take this list with a grain of salt even though it is from the game’s file. If it does turn out to include them all, this will no doubt be the biggest amount of maps to launch for a Call of Duty title. We suspect though that some of these will be DLC, which will be free anyway.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 25. Be on the lookout for our beta impressions piece that’ll be dropping real soon. In the meantime, continue enjoying the open beta!

Warner Bros Games Montréal Releases Teaser Possibly Related to New Batman Video Game

After nearly four years, the official Warner Bros Games Montréal Twitter has finally broken silence, and tweeted out a video in celebration of Batman day; though it’s the quick images that flash throughout the video that has everyone talking about a potential new Batman video game.

You can take a look at the original tease down below and if you pause it fast enough you can actually make out some mysterious symbols throughout the clip.

Still didn’t see them? Well here they are below, captured by various Twitter users.

Fans are speculating exactly what the symbols may mean, though the first one is certainly related to the Head of the Demon, Ra’s al Ghul. We last saw the character in Batman: Arkham City, in which, spoilers for those who haven’t played it, the character does apparently die. Though anyone that knows the character’s comic book history will know that he almost never stays dead. It has been rumored for sometime now that Warner Bro Montreal would be the developers behind the new Batman video game, though rumors state that it could either be centered around the Court of Owls or perhaps an online destiny like game, though we hope for the former. The last Batman title they did was Arkham Origins, with Rocksteady handling the other mainline Arkham games.

The teaser just comes two days before the PlayStation State of Play event, so we may be in for a big surprise if this teaser has anything to do with the event. We will be sure to keep you all updated as this develops

Death Stranding Launch Trailer Teased, Early Game Images Released

Theres a good indication that Death Stranding will be going gold real soon as confirmation of the Death Stranding launch trailer being worked on has been revealed.

Taking to various social media feeds, Kojima posted the following photos, sharing that he is working on a new video for Death Stranding.

And how do we know that this is the launch trailer you ask? Well, if you zoom in on the upper right hand corner of his desktop you can make out in the blurry text “Launch_trailer_edit”

We have two events happening next week, the first major one is PlayStation’s State of Play, which is set to be 20 minutes long and also debut some brand-new The Last of Us 2 footage. There’s no confirmation that Death Stranding will be shown there, however given the size of the event we honestly can’t picture it missing out, though users on Twitter were quick to point out the timer on the Death Stranding Launch Trailer showing that it’s either 32 seconds long or 32 minutes. If it’s the latter, which Kojima has been known for lengthy trailers for his Metal Gear franchise, then it will most likely air at a different time or perhaps at the other event it’s been confirmed to be at.

I’m addition to this week’s State of Play, PlayStation is also hosting a presentation at Africa’s Comic-Con 2019 where it is confirmed that they will have a closed door viewing of Death Stranding for the attendees. We will most likely see said footage, especially if it’s the launch trailer. Comic-con 2019 is currently happening in Africa and will coincidentally end on September 24th, which is also the same day the State of Play will take place on. We don’t expect a whole lot to come out of the event, though Hideo Kojima does love showing his audience content behind closed doors so who knows what may come out.

In related Death Stranding news, Kojima has also shared some early screenshots of the game, reflecting on the time since the reveal from 2016. The scenes down below will no doubt be familiar as they were featured in the The Game Awards Trailer, which you can rewatch below.

The images release by Kojima are essentially the same scenes, however they lack any of their coloring, giving us a better look at the amazing details that the Decima Engine can produce.

Death Stranding will be launching exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on November 8. Be on the look out for more Death Stranding coverage as we approach release.

The Last of Us 2 Collector’s Edition Seemingly Leaked by Swiss Retailer

With The Last of Us: Part II (stylized as The Last of Us 2) most likely being Naughty Dog’s last big game on the PS4 before moving on to next-gen (PS5), it’s understandable to assume that we’ll see a collector’s edition of the game. Well, The Last of Us 2 Collector’s Edition existences seems to have been confirmed — and by a Swiss retailer no less!

Swiss retailer Softridge posted what it calls The Last of Us Part 2 – Collector’s Edition. Check out a screenshot of the listing below.

Here’s a bigger view of the box art shown in the listing (note that this might be a placeholder image):

Before anyone gets too excited about that February 28 release date mentioned in the product listing, note that it’s an old rumor, so there is a chance it could be true, or just placeholder for now. In short: it’s not confirmation that The Last of Us 2 will be out this February. This has been pointed out by Twitter news monger and insider Nibel.

https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/1175401363561418752?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1175401363561418752&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fgaming%2Fthe-last-of-us-part-2-release-date-has-leaked-1049415

Earlier this year, we posted a report that claims that The Last of Us 2 will have four different editions, which could possibly be true as well.

While none of the stuff mentioned above have been confirmed, what is confirmed is that The Last of Us 2 will be mentioned or shown at this coming week’s State of Play livestream. Will we see gameplay? A release date maybe? Who knows, but we’ll be sure to report it once we know details.
