The Division – Ubisoft Massive to Reveal Something at GDC?

Is Ubisoft Massive gearing up for a special announcement related to their upcoming MMO Shooter, The Division? According to recent hints left by the studio, they might have something in store for anxious fans in the coming days.

On Twitter, Massive tweeted this image and line of text along with the coordinates, 37.783985° -122.401312°.

Following the coordinates will lead you to the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, which is currently hosting this year’s Game Developers Conference. The even it ongoing until the 21st of March, giving the team at Massive roughly three more days to reveal something or make some sort of announcement if that is, in fact, their plan.

If you haven’t made the connection yet, “Snowdrop” more than likely refers to the studio’s powerful new game engine that will be powering The Division when it launches on next-gen platforms and PC later this year. (Or perhaps next?)

Either way, our eyes and ears will be open for any upcoming announcements, so keep your sights on MP1st.

What do you think Massive has in store?

Titanfall – Respawn Has “Started Kicking Players”, More Bans Incoming, Server Patch This Week

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment is gearing up to act on a number of incoming players bans in hopes to root out cheaters and “aimbotters”, while the studio’s engineering team prepares a Titanfall server patch for later this week.

Reports of cheaters using malicious software that violates Titanfall’s code of conduct are appearing more frequently amongst PC community members within only one week of launch. Luckily, the studio has taken note of the concerns and is now acting upon its earlier promise to root out these unsavory individuals.

“Curious about anti-cheat/hackers? We have started kicking players and more will follow,” wrote Respawn in a recent Twitter update.

Similarly, Jon Shiring, an engineer at Respawn, has assured a number of his followers that anti-cheat will be enabled soon. “This is important to us,” he said.

“It’s always been being used to detect [cheaters],” Shiring added. “We’re starting to kick them, and there’s more coming soon.”

Shiring also announced a server patch that he said will be coming later this week. Little is known about the update, other than it might include custom loadout namesXbox One chat fixes and party updates, and an FPS unlocker for the PC version of the game.

Stay tuned to MP1st for more Titanfall updates.

Xbox One April Update Preview Now Live – Reintroduces Friends Notifications and More

Microsoft is rolling a preview for the Xbox One’s upcoming April system update.

The preview period will run slightly longer than the March update preview and will roll out a number of key improvements and tweaks that you’ll find outlined below.

It includes the return of friends notifications that chief product officer Marc Whitten promised after the launch of the March’s Xbox One system update.

Here’s what’s coming to April’s preview session:

  • Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.
  • Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This actually was one of the most frequently requested features from the first preview wave and we made it a priority to include it in the April update. Also, friends who are in multiplayer will be identified in the friends list. We’ll also add the ability to view friends’ most popular apps.
  • Blu-ray 50 Hz video output support for content recorded at 50 Hz will resolve video playback issues some Xbox Live members in Europe are experiencing.
  • Kinect voice and motion improvements will continue to fine tune the quality and reliability of Xbox One commands.
  • Improved GameDVR video quality through compression algorithm improvements.
  • Updates to Xbox One device management to address issues controlling TVs, set top boxes, and receivers that our customers have reported.
  • New audio settings to tune how much volume is lowered when Kinect is used in communications.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

Incoming Killzone: Shadow Fall Patches Aim to Improve Online Performance

In an ongoing effort to improve Killzone’s Shadow Fall‘s multiplayer experience, developer Guerrilla Games is looking in to ways to “reduce lag” in online combat.

Numerous investigations are being made into what the studio considers “laggy kills”, or any kill that takes longer than 0.5 seconds to register.

“To our surprise, we saw that the percentage was really dependent on the region: US-East showed 13% laggy kills, US-West 6%, and other regions around 4%,” wrote lead game tech Jorrit Rouwe in a recent blog entry. “Moving some of our servers in the US-East region to a different data center resulted in the percentage of laggy kills on those servers decreasing by a whopping 10%.”

Unfortunately, a similar solution appears to have not worked out as well for US-West gamers, though the studio says the’ve “found that the quality of [players’] wireless connection may be a contributing factor.”

Taking steps towards a proper solution, Rouwe outlined a number of incoming tweaks that players will find in the next patch, as well as what the team is working on for future updates. Check out the details below, as seen on the official blog.

Next Patch

Connection Quality Screen

We have been working on a feature that tells you how good your connection is. You can look at this information in the options screen.

2014-03-17_03_m

As you can see we measure a number of aspects of your connection:

    • Nearest Server: This shows the country where the closest server is located. In-game this changes to the ‘Current Server’ which may be a more distant one if no players were found on the ‘Nearest Server’.
    • Round-trip Time: Time it takes for a packet to travel to the ‘Nearest Server’ and back. In game this measures the round trip time to the ‘Current Server’ so may give you a worse score.
    • Packet Loss: The amount of packets lost in transit. A good connection should have less than 1%. When playing on Wi-Fi this percentage is usually higher than when playing Wired.
    • Download: The measured download speed in kilobit/s.
    • Upload: The measured upload speed in kilobit/s.
    • Connection: If your connection is Wired or Wireless.

Each of these categories will get a quality score ranging from 0 to 5 bars. The lowest score is shown as the main ‘Connection Quality’ score and is also displayed on the score board and in the main multiplayer menu.

The main purpose of this connection quality screen is to allow you to determine if it is you who is lagging or if it is one or more of the other players in the match. It will also make it clear when you’re playing cross-region.

Server Ping Grouping

We believe that everyone should be able to play, but we understand that if you invested a lot of money in a good internet connection that you deserve to have a good game experience. In the next patch, matchmaking will try to group people with similar connection quality to the server together as much as possible.

Improved Party Matchmaking

We have improved party matchmaking. The matchmaking server will now assign the party to the region where most people come from. Previously the region would be determined by the party leader.

In Progress

Clan Matchmaking

In the future we will be optimizing the matchmaking system further for clan matches, so that a match between a clan from the US-East region and a clan from Japan may be hosted in the US-West region if that results in the lowest total ping for all players.

New server locations

We’re starting tests with a data center in Dallas to improve connection quality for players in the middle of the US. We’re also still investigating data centers in the Middle East, but unfortunately there are very few data centers there that meet our needs at this time. We are currently looking into a data center in Istanbul.

Return to Own Region

If you ended up playing cross-region because there were no games available in your own region, the game will check for game availability in your own region again upon round rollover. If a game has become available in your own region you will be returned to your own region.

More Information

We observed that most cross-region play occurs on custom Warzones where the player count is low. Currently we will only show you the amount of players that are in a custom Warzone, but in the future we will also display the amount of players that are playing in your own region. This will give you a better indication of the quality of the game.

Rouwe didn’t provide any details on when the incoming patch might become available. Keep your sights on MP1st for updates.

Be sure to check out some of the updates that were included in the latest Killzone: Shadow Fall patch.

Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth DLC To Introduce Two-Handed Ballistic Shield

New gameplay elements are coming to Battlefield 4‘s Dragon’s Teeth expansion in the form of a two-handed ballistic shield that stops bullets, according to DICE senior animator Ryan Duffin.

During a talk at this year’s GDC, Duffin explained that the studio had hoped to introduce the ability for players to equip a ballistic shield that they could use in combination with a side arm. Instead, the team landed on the idea of a two-handed shield that acts as a piece of moveable cover.

Ultimately, previous generation memory constraints limited the amount of new player animations DICE could incorporate into the game.

“We didn’t have enough memory,” Duffin said. “It added about a megabyte, but a megabyte on a 2006 console is a lot, so it didn’t work out.”

Though pushed to work with the idea of a two-handed piece of moveable cover instead of a more mobile one-handed shield, Duffin says the studio eventually agreed that it made more sense and would actually fit better with Battlefield 4’s more team-oriented gameplay.

“There was a lot of resistance at first. But the more we assessed it, the more we realized it was a better feature,” he said. “It turns out that stopping bullets in a first-person shooter is a ton of fun. We’re confident that it will create a new dynamic for the game.”

So far, little is known about the Dragon’s Teeth expansion, other than it will be developed by DICE LA and that it will revolve around urban warfare.

Thanks, Polygon.

Titanfall Review – Did The Hype Train Deliver?

When studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West left Infinity Ward with more than forty members of their distinguished team after a dispute with Call of Duty publisher Activision, there was one question on everyone’s mind: What’s coming next from the developers of arguably the most successful first-person shooter franchise in gaming history?

That question was answered at E3 2013 by the newly formed studio Respawn Entertainment who unveiled its first IP, the sci-fi, mech-inspired shooter, Titanfall. Since then, the Titanfall hype train has been going non-stop and grew to a peak when around 2 million unique players played the beta alone. But now that gamers are no longer ‘standing by for Titanfall’, does it live up to that hype?

Titanfall

The Multiplayer Campaign

While Titanfall doesn’t come with a single player story mode – a surprise choice for a triple-A shooter – it does sport a rather cinematic multiplayer campaign that mixes Titanfall’s classic modes of Hardpoint Domination and Attrition with story-related voice overs and short scripted intro-sequences.

To put it simply, the campaign was great overall. It makes you feel like you are a part of something bigger and that you’re not just the ‘one man army’ depicted in most modern shooter campaigns. But the lack of story-driven details makes it feel a tad rushed, as many of the key moments during missions go unnoticed as players scramble to grasp their bearings or get lost in the action. Another issue is the lack of unique objective game modes during the story. Because of this, Pilots appear as common infantry, while key characters go off to do their own thing with AI Grunts.

That aside, it was nice to play through a campaign that actually gives the players the control to determine who wins and who loses, outlining the basis of team play in a fast-paced action shooter. The absolute best thing about the campaign, however, is the ability to play as both the IMC and Militia factions and their sides of the story, which allows for a compelling new perspective of the same adventure. Still, given the standard $60 price tag, I would have liked to see Respawn take the extra step with the campaign to make it really make it stand out from the rest of Titanfall’s multiplayer-only experiences.

Titanfall

Maps & Game Modes

Respawn is not afraid of letting players drop into new locations with their own story to tell, and with 15 maps to play on, it’s hard to get bored of all the impressive and highly detailed scenery when you hardly ever revisit the same arena twice in a gaming marathon. What makes the maps of Titanfall even better is the lack of one-sided advantage points you might see in other games, making for heart-pounding matches that test players’ ability to make their own luck. Not only that, but Respawn has successfully crafted 15 different maps that are almost completely unique from one another. They don’t suffer from the carbon copy effect, which could ultimately grow stale rather quickly. But one feature – or lack thereof – that can make for a more monotonous experience is Titanfall’s lack of game modes.

Titanfall ships with five modes; Attrition, Hardpoint Domination, Capture The Flag, Pilot Hunter, and Last Titan Standing. All of them are a variation of classic game modes you’d see in any other modern day shooter, and that brings Respawn’s first IP down in the sense that it has the potential to introduce more unique objective modes, especially ones based on the campaign. But don’t let this be the defacto turn off from the game. Each mode has its own charming Titanfall twist to it that fits nicely within the game’s universe, especially Pilot Hunter and Last Titan Standing. All that aside, it’s the gameplay that really counts, and that’s where Titanfall shines the brightest.

Titanfall

Gameplay

Respawn has concocted a healthy melting pot of both innovative and recognizable game design when it comes to the way gamers play Titanfall, especially in how Pilots and Titans maneuver through the environments. Despite such size differences between the two forces, the balance between them remarkably fair. It’s David and Goliath in video game form. Be it an anti-titan weapon or a daring rodeo ride atop a Titan’s head, Pilots won’t have any more trouble taking out Titans than Titans will have squishing, punching, or blasting Pilots with out-of-this-world sci-fi weaponry. Titans are protected through regenerative shielding that can either be breached via overwhelming firepower or through a more direct approach like rodeoing.

As you might notice rather quickly, AI plays a great role in Titanfall’s core gameplay formula. They might not be the most challenging foes you’ll face, as Pilots are far more dangerous, but they do serve a purpose. That is to mainly keep the action rolling in Titanfall’s larger maps, knock off the time it takes to call in a Titan, or to help newcomers contribute to a win in game modes like Attrition where points are scored for eliminating Grunts and Spectres. Titanfall’s AI also governs your Titan, should you choose to set it to Auto-Titan mode, as opposed to directly controlling it through the cockpit. Truly competitive players may or may not end up ignoring AI opponents all together, but thus far, they serve to improve Titanfall’s gameplay and Respawn’s vision of epic battles, rather than hinder it.

In Titanfall, classic video game idioms like jet packs, double jumping, wall running and giant robots are introduced as exotic new elements in a first-person game. I also really appreciate that players are tasked with learning how to take advantage of these new maneuvering tactics for themselves, all without hand-holding tutorials, save for the intro training mode. Clever pathways traversable only by wall running aren’t always spelled out for the player. Experimentation is key. While the game may be a “pick-up and play” sort of shooter, there is a shrouded skill gap that is prominent in players who have adapted to some of these overlooked features. Quick learners will be far more more agile, harder to hit, and will also acquire a better sense of awareness in all situations.

Clearly, maneuverablitiy plays a key role in how Titanfall differentiates itself from other shooters, which is why it can be frustrating to see it go over the heads (literally) of average players. Most seem to want to stick to tried-and-true “run-‘n’-gun” tactics, instead of adopting new play styles. This is also what kills objective modes like Hardpoint Domination and Capture The Flag, as they are treated more like Team Deathmath. Protip: you actually move much faster and jump way further by wall-running, so keep that in mind.

In Titanfall, Respawn has successfully freed the player from the restraints placed on most gamers in traditional shooters and, man, does it ever feel good to be in such control.

Titanfall

Weapons, Progression, & Burn Cards

“Less is more” is the motto that best describes the weapons and unlocks in Titanfall. There isn’t a whole lot there, but each weapon, ordinance, tactical ability, and kit selection plays an important role and offers some advantage or disadvantage that another item doesn’t. There is something for every type of player in any kind of situation, including three different types of Titan that either favor armor, speed, or balance. So, don’t be disappointed that Respawn didn’t include a Battlefield 4-amount of weapons, because they instead offer one of the most balanced games since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

But with the “less is more” approach, a problem arises. How does Respawn spice the game up after having unlocked everything? The answer is their own updated variation of Call of Duty’s ‘Prestige’ mode called ‘Generations’. Here, players are able to reset everything they’ve unlocked once they’ve hit rank 50. This, in turn, allows them to “regenerate” which grants them an experience boost, as well as the opportunity to re-do all challenges. Eventually, players are tasked with completing certain challenges to keep moving through Generations, instead of just grinding away through matches. But challenges aren’t just for Generations, they’re for everything, and their reward makes for some interesting advantages.

Weapons, progression, generations, Titans – just about every element comes with a serving of challenges. Some are easy, some are hard. But it isn’t the challenges that make Titanfall so fun and eccentric, it’s the Burn Cards you get for completing them. 50 Burn Cards in total are obtainable that give players various in-game abilities, three of which you are able to carry into any given match. The catch is that you only get to use one per life. Once you die, that card is gone until you unlock it again. While you’ll need to use them wisely, don’t be too cautious, as you’ll be earning a lot throughout your play time. Burn Cards range from double experience gained in one life, to being disguised as an AI Spectre, to making a bigger boom with your Nuclear Eject.

Titanfall

Visuals, Sounds, & Immersion

While Titanfall’s visuals might not not be the most stellar out there, there’s certainly something to be said about the game’s immersive sound design that adds to a very believable experience, despite some of the fantastical sci-fi elements. Amongst the chilling robotic noises of gigantic Titans storming the battlefield – reminiscent of Michael Bay’s Transformers movies – and the booming sound effects of Titanfall’s space-age weaponry, there are plenty humanistic moments heard through voice-over lines delivered by random AI grunts. You’ll find plenty of details that will undoubtedly wow you, both visually an aurally.

It’s too bad that the occasional screen tearing and frame rate drop can take you out of the experience every so often, but these instances are forgivable and infrequent. As we’ve heard, it sounds like performance is a top priority among the team at Respawn, so expect improvements in the near future. It also helps that Titanfall’s networking top notch. Pings are solid and lag is minimal.

4.5 / 5

Titanfall may suffer from story driven details and a lack of unique game modes, but it more than makes up for it with diverse maps, an astonishingly fun multiplayer gameplay experience that rewards players regardless of skill level, and an offering that is an overall breath of fresh air in the first-person shooter genre. Though it was a risky move charging $60 for a multiplayer-only title, it’s hard not to appreciate the studio’s focused vision of what a good multiplayer shooter should be. In the end, I think it paid off. Respawn’s masterpiece surpasses expectations and might as well keep rolling until the sequel arrives.

What’s your take on Titanfall?

Killer Instinct – Thunder’s Classic Costume Accidently Leaked

Those of you who enjoy playing as Thunder in the Xbox One fighter, Killer Instinct, may be in for a special treat.

A recent glitch appears to have revealed Thunder’s classic outfit that will presumably be available as DLC in the near future. Check it out in the video above.

Unfortunately, Thunder isn’t sporting the mohawk hairstyle that we’ve all came to love. However, it appears that alongside Thunder, Sadira will also be receiving a classic outfit, according to creative director Adam Isgreen who teased on Twitter what it will look like.

You’ll notice that the tease closely resembles one of the concept drawings for her. Check it out below:

Currently, there’s no announced date when to expect both of these costumes to be made available.

Ultra Street Fighter IV’s Fifth Character Is Decapre

After months of speculation on who the final addition to Ultra Street Fighter IV’s roster will be, Capcom has finally revealed the identity of the mysterious fighter during the Final Round 17 tournament, as promised in Street Fighter producer Tomoaki Ayano’s blog last month.

Alongside Elena, Hugo, Poison and Rolento, joining the cast is none other than Decapre, one of the Cammy dolls that I personally predicted would be the fifth character earlier this year. Despite this underwhelming news, Ultra David and James Chen have revealed during the Final Round 17 that Decapre a charge character and plays much like Juri.

Check out the new trailer above.

Also, Combofiend has a demonstration of some of Decapre’s moves and combos that you can check out in the video below:

For those who own either Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, you will be able to upgrade to Ultra Street Fighter IV via a DLC expansion pack for $14.99 USD. However, for those who are waiting for a physical copy of Ultra Street Fighter IV, you will have to wait a bit longer to get your hands on it.

Are you looking forward to the five new characters in Ultra Street Fighter IV?

Ubisoft Releases New Concept Art for The Division

Ubisoft Massive has recently shared a new piece of concept art for their highly anticipated MMO shooter, The Division.

The latest piece of concept art shows a building that the character is looking towards, perhaps some sort of hub where players will be able to interact with one another in a more neutral play space.

The Division Concept Art Hub

Below is an in-game shot showing off the Snowdrop Engine’s impressive lighting effects and fog work, as well as the intense character detail. It may be an old screenshot, but it’s the first time we have come across it on Ubisoft’s Facebook page.

The Division 2013 Screen
Tom Clancy’s The Division has been announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with no definitive release date. You can check the latest in-game screenshots of the title here.

Titanfall – Respawn Engineer on Xbox Live Compute: “The Internet is Very Sceptical That This is Real”

Respawn Engineer Jon Shiring, aka “Slothy”, is grateful for Xbox One’s Xbox Live Compute program built upon Microsoft’s Azure server database, powering a number of the standout features that Titanfall delivers.

Speaking to Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb in a recent podcast, Shiring explains how the new tech has made the lives of Respawn’s designers all the more easier and how the studio was able to incorporate elements that “no one’s really tried before”.

“There’s a lot of things we’re doing in this that’s really different from how any other game has done it before,” he said.

Shiring went on to compare the traditional use of dedicated servers in first-person shooters to the new approach that Respawn is taking with Titanfall.

“In sort of the traditional model of dedicated servers is you go to your server and that is your home base and you love it,” he explained. “One of the key things that is interesting about the Xbox Live Compute that runs on Azure is that they’ve commodotised servers so much, that we just don’t care. I can ask for a server, use it for 10 seconds, and then go like, ‘ah we don’t need it anymore’ and throw it out.”

“We bounce people around server to server, and so you’re hitting a lot of different servers and that let’s us do cool things,” Shiring continued. “But it completely upends the old model of like, ‘I’m going to find my server and stay there forever’. And so there’s been a lot of interesting changes because of that idea that’s gone through everything from matchmaking and skill and how we do the training in the beginning of the game and all these things that are – no one’s really tried before and kind of left everyone scratching their heads for a while when we were figuring out how we were going to do it. But it was really interesting to me.”

Shiring admits that Xbox Live Compute has seemingly been shrugged off as a marketing gimmick by many onlookers, but thinks that all that might change with Titanfall: “And I know that the internet is very sceptical that this is real. Hopefully less so now that Titanfall is out and they realize that they really are playing on these servers out there.”

Titanfall Hackers MP1st

So, what do these servers actually do? How does it make Titanfall better than it might have been otherwise? Shiring explains that the key lies in the amount of freedom in brings the game’s designers, saying that it let them “go crazy and do things like throw AI in multiplayer and have these ships flying around the world and all these things that in a peer-to-peer hosted game – I know this is a little technical, but in a peer-to-peer hosted game, the bandwidth isn’t there.”

He continued: “You’re not going to find all these home consoles that have the amount of CPU and bandwidth you need to be broadcasting that there’s 400 things moving this frame. It just melts down everything that is there. So once we can just tell the designers, ‘yeah don’t worry about it, just spawn that thing and make it move. It’s fine.’

Ultimately, what worked out for Respawn was that their designers “weren’t constantly fighting limitations, they were just trying to, ‘hey you know what’d be cool? It’d be cool if this happened,'” Shiring states. “You know if you had a gun that shot all these things and each one was a real particle and it’s going to travel through the air, you’re doing a lot less compromising and you’re just letting them go do great stuff, cause our designers are really, really good, and the worst thing we can do is tell them ‘no’.

So far, it seems to be making for a pretty good game that is resulting in a lot of happy online multiplayer FPS nuts. With that, be on the lookout for a number of improvements and new features in the near future.

Keep your sights on MP1st for everything Titanfall.

Massive Ban Wave Hits COD: Ghosts Players – “Will Not be Reversed,” Says Activision

Update

Infinity Ward has announced on Twitter that many of the bans issued were, in fact, incorrect and have since been reversed.

“We understand some players were incorrectly banned over the weekend and we have since corrected the issue. Try playing again now.”

Original Story

Reports are beginning to surface of a massive ban wave that appears to be primarily targeting PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 users playing Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts.

While most of the bans are presumably just, a number of users are claiming bans were issued to them through error and are looking to resolve the mistake.

User “tcsdaniels” wrote a lengthy post on the official Call of Duty: Ghosts forums explaining his situation, saying that he and his son have been permanently banned, despite their more casual approach to the game. “After a bit of research and reviewing the past week or so of the games my son and I played, we believe the innocent players that did not either back out of a hacked lobby (due to not knowing) or were automatically placed into one are getting banned,” he wrote.

“My son and I are clueless when it comes to most of it. Over the last week we did come to an agreement that we were losing a lot more than normal but we just contributed that to the assumption we were just getting placed with better people. We are more often then not the lowest scoring people every round we play and that should not be a reason to ban people and their console’s.”

Similarly, Reddit user “wuzzup” writes, “I too, have been permanently banned. I play maybe a couple hours/week and have never done anything against the code of conduct,” which you can read up on in full right here.

Activision support responded to “wuzzups” claims, explaining that “bans are put in place after an account has been investigated into. Any code of conduct violations WILL result in a ban. The user is responsible for all actions taken on the account.”

“All bans are final and will not be reversed. Nor do we provide any additional information or specifics in regards to the ban,” the response continued.

Aaron of Dublin, Ireland has called for an increase in transparency in Infinity Ward and Activisions’ banning practices via this petition, writing that “this isn’t about the guilt or innocence of any individual player. This is about a fair, transparent process.”

Luckily, it appears that things are looking up for some users.

themidnightsociety” reports that some users have had luck getting their bans lifted. “It seems as if someone has been listening to us because I just checked my account on COD Ghosts and my permanent ban and console ban has been lifted and everything is back to how it was before the ban,” the user writes.

Ultimately, it’s difficult to analyze which players have knowingly or unknowingly participated in questionable lobbies or have broken Call of Duty: Ghosts’ code of conduct. We’ve reached out to Activision for their take on the situation.

Have you been issued a permanent ban that you believe is unjust?

Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have received significant “security updates” over the past week as Infinity Ward starts to crack down on cheaters.

Titanfall Anti-Cheat System Will Be Enabled Soon

The team at Respawn Entertainment has addressed the Titanfall community regarding a few pressing issues over the past few days.

In response to players complaining about hackers and cheaters ruining the game, Respawn Entertainment’s software engineer, Jon Shiring, stated on Twitter “we have anti-cheat but it is not enabled yet – it will be soon. This is important to us.”

He reassured one disgruntled fan that developers at Respawn “are catching them [the cheaters]. We are not yet ENFORCING it.”

Drew McCoy, game producer, also touched on the topic, stating that Respawn is “not sitting silently by”. Last week, Respawn promised that cheaters will rooted out of Titanfall.

On another note, Shiring also stated that they are “working with” Microsoft on the VOIP issues on Xbox One. He added, “it’s driving us crazy, too.”

Titanfall is now available for Xbox One and PC, with the Xbox 360 version releasing on the 25th. The second client-side patch for the title is the works.

Rockstar Adds Another 10 Verified Jobs to GTA Online

Ten new jobs in GTA Online have received Rockstar’s stamp of approval.

On the heels of winning the best multiplayer game at the BAFTAs, Rockstar has verified ten new Grand Theft Auto Online jobs, now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users. Also, the studio retired the jobs originally approved in December “due to restraints on the total number of Rockstar Verified Jobs that can be made available at any one time in the game,” Rockstar says.

“Going forward, as we continue to bestow Rockstar Verified status on more Jobs, we will be cycling out some of the earlier ones along with those updates. Without further ado, here are the latest ten including a wealth of highly-recommended Races and a pair of exceptional Deathmatches,” Rockstar explained.

In case you’d like to play the jobs still in circulation, you can read up on the jobs released in January here and February here.

Here are the new jobs and their descriptions:

Around the Mirror & Windy Hills – Created by Poklaan

Leader of tight-knit The Only Ones Gang, Poklaan already has 19 different Creations under the belt. We selected these two that are a fine showcase of Creator skills. “Around the Mirror” is a clean and quick Race for up to 16 players around the scenic area of Mirror Park. The long straights make it a great choice for the new blazing fast rides like the Grotti Turismo R and the Dinka Jester from The Business Update. Poklaan’s second Rockstar Verified Race entitled “Windy Hills” takes inspiration from the popular Rockstar Created Race “Power Trip”. It’s a 16 player motorbike Race through the rotary blades of the RON Alternates Wind Farm in Blaine County. This lap Race features long straights combined with several perilous cliff-side hairpin bends that require expert control and perfect timing.

Transformer Station & Hill Valley Cemetery – Created by pizza690

In “Transformer Station”, teams battle for control of the entire Los Santos power supply in the far northeast of the city. Pizza690 has a talent for Deathmatch creation and here has perfected the spread of props to provide cover where there aren’t transformers to hide behind. With just two armor pick-ups and a handful of firearms, your choice of starting weapons will be key to victory here. Meanwhile across the city, the gravestones of the titular “Hill Valley Cemetery” provide cover for teams looking to wake the dead, or add to their numbers. Here the plethora of health packs, weapons and vehicles available (Romero Hearse included), complement the availability of plenty of natural cover.

Desert Test Track 4×4 – Created by bongongta69

As announced on his Twitter account and Social Club profile, bongongta69 is now “R* Verified baby”. This course turns the Sandy Shores airfield into a challenging track with tight turns, great views and bumpy off road sections that could easily throw you off course. Be sure to slow down for the tire wall chicane or risk being thrown head first into a patch of prickly pear. You can check out a video by bongongta69 previewing his Race here.

Farm Fresh – Created by Ma1evo1ent Cheese

Another great track built specifically for dirt bikes featuring on and off-road sections. “Farm Fresh” was picked out for R* Verification due to the diverse terrain explored in a map that navigates tight, difficult sections in and around Martin Madrazo’s ranch at La Fuerte Blanca, up to the Redwood Lights race track and back down to an on-road section in the Vinewood Hills. Creator Ma1evo1entCheese has honed the art of a good clean Race as a member of the Red Rum Racing Crew, a highly organized collective with their own forum for Crew meets and intra-Crew challenges.

Coupe D’état – Created by LuapYllier

One of Red Rum Racing’s Commissioners also earns a Verification nod this round with the aptly named “Coupe D’état”. As we mentioned in our recent article outlining tips for the Race Creator, vehicle selection should always be carefully considered according to the layout and terrain of your course. LuapYllier has followed this advice perfectly, selecting an underused vehicle class that is perfect for the tricky turns and hill sections. Keep an eye out for crossovers where you can collide with opponents as well as a shortcut across the abandoned railway line.

Power Hour – Created by AnneSauceyFrank

“Power Hour” is an exciting high speed Race in an area rarely used: the Palmer-Taylor Power Station on the east coast of San Andreas. With each lap featuring a double loop, there’s plenty of potential for some electrifying collisions – Race leaders may find themselves quickly targeted by those bitter at having fallen behind.

Refuel – Created by Demon Low-Rider

Demon Low-Rider advises “total concentration” in this endurance Race from Grapeseed, round the Alamo Sea, through Sandy Shores and down the Senora Freeway into the city before finishing up at Mirror Park. With sections on asphalt and dirt, as well as tight turns and long straights, this diverse track will challenge all of your driving ability – particularly if you have the full complement of 15 opponents battling to throw you off course. A win on this course should serve as affirmation of your skill as a pro GTA Online racer.

The Hospital Dash – Created by SickeningStig

Confrontations in the city can often result in madcap dashes across town to the local health care provider for “repairs”. This short point-to-point (1.33 mi) lets you practice for that very situation as you race from Burton to Los Santos County General. Be sure to keep traffic turned on for the authentic emergency experience.
