Battlefield 3 Premium Members May Gain Access to Battlefield 4 Beta, According to Rumors

Battlefield 3 Premium members may be in luck after all when it comes to the upcoming Battlefield 4 beta.

Taking place in Fall 2013, the Battlefield 4 beta will be accessible by any and all who got their hands on the limited edition of Danger Close’s Medal of Honor: Warfighter. As of yet, this has been the only officially announced route to gaining entrance to the Battlefield 4 beta. It has, however, been stated by community manager Ian Tornay that additional ways would eventually be announced.

According to reports found in the forum of Russian Battlefield site MyBattlefield, Battlefield 3 Premium members will also be allowed to participate in the beta. Now, this sounds like it should be a given, but up to this point, it has never officially been stated that Premium members would be allowed access.

According to the image below, EA Origin Russia lists “exclusive access to the beta version of Battlefield 4” (translated into English) as a perk to being a Premium member.

bf_premium-beta_access-battlefield_4

With the unveiling of Battlefield 4 right around the corner, it would not be far fetched for DICE and EA to make such an announcement. We’ll surely hear more about the beta this Tuesday, so keep your sights locked on MP1st!

Battlefield 4 Website Reveals Two Characters: “Hanna” and Unnamed Male Soldier

EA and DICE reveal another two pieces of artwork on the recently launched official website for Battlefield 4 in preparation for the game’s official reveal this March 26th at 11pm PDT.

Rather than going the expected route of teasing either a piece of setting, a new vehicle, or weapon, we get a glimpse of two characters that may play a significant role in Battlefield 4’s campaign. According to the website, we know the female character’s name is Hanna, though we are unsure of the male soldier below.

phase4

phase4b

Though it is undoubtedly expected, the image of the male soldier does confirm the presence of the US forces in Battlefield 4.

The above image and the introduction of a character like Hanna are interesting choices for a number of reasons. For one, she isn’t dressed in battle attire. It will be interesting to see how her character develops in the story if she is not taking on a combat role. Second, it might hint at the possibility of females playing a more prominent role in the game, maybe even in the multiplayer. Lastly, if we can expect that kind of detail in a character’s face in-game and real-time, that would be pretty awesome.

Earlier, DICE and EA released three short clips teasing battle at sea, on land, and in the air. Check them out below while we wait for the full trailer this Tuesday.

Would you like to see more campaign character reveals as we approach Battlefield 4’s unveiling only a few days away? What do you make of the two images above? Let us know in the comments!

Borderlands 2 ‘Psycho Pack’ Spotted At PAX East

Only one more day to go until Gearbox Software takes the stage at PAX East to unveil the newest vault hunter for Borderlands 2 and also to discuss the highly anticipated level cap.

Meanwhile, an image (which you can view below) was spotted out in the wild on the show floor, which gives us a small glimpse of what we can expect to see during Gearbox’s panel on Sunday.

MjGlT21

With what we’ve seen in the ‘Mayhem Awaits’ trailer, released a couple of  days ago, it does appear that the silhouette and the picture above share the same body type, although, this time, he is carrying around a pretty bad-ass looking bandit axe in his hands. Additionally, a Gearbox employee hinted that this upcoming character may be melee based, which fits perfectly with the picture and trailer.

If the new vault hunter is indeed an melee based psycho experiment, would you guys be excited to play it when it arrives? Let us know in the comment section below!

Halo 4 – 343 Industries Announces Forge Island, Legendary Slayer, Competitive Skill Ranking, and More

343 Industries recently took the stage at PAX East 2013 in Boston to announce some exciting new features making their way to Halo 4 during a panel discussion.

Halo 4 players will soon accumulate a Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR), between 1 to 50, that will show up in every playlist, including Grifball, a feature that has been heavily requested for some time now. According to some bullet points gathered by the HaloCouncil, CSR is still exclusive to Halo Waypoint and will show up on the Xbox 360 and Xbox website. CSR may be reset at certain periods to avoid ‘rank locking’, similar to Arena from Halo: Reach.

On April 11, for absolutely free, players can look forward to the brand new Forge Island, a huge new Forge environment big enough to fit both the Hang ‘Em High and Blood Gulch remakes. It will include three areas; one small, one medium and one large flat area, along with a ton of aerial space, and will feature aesthetics similar to Ravine. No plans to improve features like precision editing were mentioned, though focus will be put into future titles for Forge.

Update

MP1st reader ktorkel brought this video to our attention showing off Forge Island in all its glory. (Off-screen footage from the panel.)

[youtube id=”SF0AZL9_Ygo” width=”618″ height=”378″]

More was mentioned about the upcoming title update, expected to release within the next two weeks. The team spoke of the number of weapon tuning possibilities the new patch will allow them to make on the fly, like damage numbers and rates of fire. Vehicle tweaks will also be possible with the new update. A possible DMR rebalance was mentioned, though it was confirmed that weapon descoping will not be happening. The team mentioned that holding X to pick up Flags isn’t being discussed, but is possible.

The discussion of weapon tweaks also tied into the introduction of the new Legendary Slayer mode: a mix of Throwdown and Infinity Slayer with a competitive focus. According to 343i, it will feature tweaked weapons and will be officially introduced to Halo 4 in late Spring/early Summer.

Other matchmaking updates included future tweaks to Team Action Sack and Fiesta as well as the return of Multi-Team modes, allowing for six teams of two, arriving on April 8 along with the launch of Castle Map Pack.

DayZ Standalone To Enter Alpha Testing June or Later

The standalone version of the popular Arma 2 zombie survival mod DayZ is expected to enter alpha testing June or later.

Speaking to Joystiq, creator Dean “Rocket” Hall mentioned, “We’re going to review the situation in June, so there’ll be no release between now and June. And we’re quite hopeful that we’ll go then.” He added, “I know that people get really frustrated because they want to play, but I just think this is the best option.”

Hall detailed the team’s excitement to get things just right, explaining that they are taking their time making sure that the new client-server architecture works properly. He also revealed that while he has 25 people currently participating in a small pre-alpha, he wishes to gather a few hundred before opening up the alpha. He explained that keys will be distributed, in batches of 50,000 or so, in a Kickstarter-style fashion, meaning players can purchase other goodies through various, tiered packages.

“We want to release the keys in chunks of what we have servers available,” Hall explained. “The idea is to very, very quickly try to release something out there, because that allows us to start capacity testing. We’ve got one final thing we’re waiting for with the release date, which is the completion of our client-server architecture. It’s basically making the game into an MMO, and pretty much the moment that’s done, we’ll release.”

Rumors Suggest The Next Call of Duty will be Called “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” Details

YouTuber Drift0r claims to have “insider information” regarding the next Call of Duty, presumably from developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games.

The information allegedly comes from a subscriber who is “a part of the Call of Duty machine,” and is somehow involved in the development of the next entry said to be titled, “Call of Duty: Ghosts.”

According to the source, a previous working title included “Call of Duty: Phantoms,” though it is meant to be a departure from the Modern Warfare series.

In Driftor’s video, he describes Call of Duty: Ghosts as a title that will once again utilize a future setting, as did Black Ops 2, but one that will have soldiers using current-day weaponry as part of a plot element that will dictate the reasons why.

Multiplayer will allegedly utilize dynamic loading screens, showing soldiers repelling from a chopper into the battlefield or into the play space. Multiplayer maps are said to include destructive environments and will feature more interactivity, allowing players to take out enemies in fashions other than shooting.

It is also rumored that player movement will see some significant changes. Soldiers will be able to slide while shooting, peak and lean around corners, and roll side-to-side while in prone.

The Modern Warfare series’ mini-game, Spec Ops, is also said to be replaced entirely.

According to the source, Call of Duty: Ghosts will be announced on or around May 1.

You can check out Drift0r’s video here, who also mentions rumor has it that Call of Duty: Ghosts will launch exclusively on next-generation consoles, meaning the PlayStation 4 and the next Xbox, as well as the PC.

What does it sound like to you guys? Do you think these rumors would make for a pretty cool Call of Duty title?

Update

To clarify, the rumor of “Call of Duty: Ghosts” being a next-gen-only title is from an anonymous source that differs from Drift0r’s original source detailing the bulk of his information. As he states in his video, this particular rumor is simply hearsay and is not from his original source.

Aliens: Colonial Marines Bug Hunt DLC Review

I had many issues with Alien: Colonial Marines, from buggy and stupid AI, to common textures and glitches. You may be asking, “why is he still playing after giving it such a low score?” Well, the season pass bears “free” DLC, with this first one dropping last March 19th, so, really, there’s nothing to lose. Surprisingly, for all you Alien fans out there who were still hoping for something to shimmer out of the game, you may be in luck.

The AI

Like in any survival/horde type of game mode, the abilities of the AI to counter measure your own moves are crucial. To dumb the mode down is boring, to make it too difficult is a nuisance. I don’t know what happened in the development of A:CM, but after playing Bug Hunt, I am fully convinced that both the game and this DLC were made by completely different developers. If you recall, in the review, I stated that the AI would play dumb. You would literally be able to sit there on the hardest difficulty and shoot away at a Xeno without having too much to fear. Given that I only play in a party of two, the AI on Recruit (the easiest difficulty) in Bug Hunt mode gave one heck of a fight. The first few waves, like always, will have extremely easy enemies, however, after wave 10, the Aliens really do start to get a bit more clever.

Unlike in Story Co-op, where Aliens had to spawn from one point, the maps have a ton of different points that they can spawn in. In a room with a single entrance, Aliens will leap out of well placed and hidden ventallation shafts. If you damage them enough, they’ll try to manauver their way out and hide in cover for a bit. The lurkers are the most common enemies, and they will use stealth to their advantage. There are also spitters, which will tend to stay as far back and as hidden as possible while they spit Acid. As waves go on, Xenos’ appearances and behavior continue to change. All those custom heads and color in the Xeno’s Appearance menu make an appearance, with each acting differently from one another. That means that each wave is never as easy as the last wave, and tactics will continue to change as the Xeno’s do.

This game mode does also feature Weyland Yutani Soldiers, which I know were a nuisance for many in the Campaign, but let me tell you, the mix between the Aliens and the Soldiers is great. At times, you’ll be wishing for them to spawn just to give you enough time to move to another point of the map or to even distract the Aliens. These guys will mostly carry their standard gun, but sometimes brute versions holding smart guns will spawn. This is when the real action happens. They are great and well-fitted into the mode.

Sadly, the mode doesn’t make use of either the Crusher or the Boiler, which is a shame, as one per level would have been a great boss/hazard.

Gameplay

I’m going to come out and say it. Bug Hunt mode is a complete rip-off of Call of Duty’s Zombies mode, but with some changes. The idea of Hode mode has always existed, but I don’t recall ever playing one before Call of Duty: World at War that had a currency system that could be used to buy guns, unlocks doors, and even close off windows. Does that make it a bad thing for A:CM, though? Absolutely not!

Everyone spawns with no cash and the only way of getting it is through killing Xeno’s or Wey Soldiers. Once a player has accumulated enough money, they can begin to open doors to new areas, which will have other doors along with ammo crates, turrets, smart guns, ect. The money system is a double edged sword, however. If your in a game with no microphones, good luck trying to progress far enough and planning out good tactics. This isn’t a mode where a mic is optional, it’s absolutely needed. While being able to speak to others, it’s easy to coordinate where you’ll go next and how the money will be spent. I’ve played with a few randoms, and unlike in CoD: Zombies there’s an option to give other players money. In a no-mic game, money is nearly never given, but with coordination, doors can be opened quickly and defenses can work properly. Teamwork is crucial and it’s much easier to progress when everyone is doing what they are suppose to be doing. Turrets are a must in this game, as once you reach wave 20+, Xeno Warriors, Lurkers, and Spitters will literally pile (10+) into the room you are in and swarm up on you, resulting in a continuous and non-stop brutal melee attacks.

This mode, though, is very forgiving if you have at least $1000 when you die. If you do, you’ll be able to buy your way back into the match until a wave is completed (I think). Friends can luckily revive you if your revive meter is still up and running.

Maps

I was worried about the maps being extremely small, considering that the DLC size was less than 200MB. It pretty much reuses the game assets, but I have to say they still feel new and are probably the best levels in the game. Each level starts you out in small, yet open areas. You’re given many choices and paths to take, but the important thing is to always find a place with a good ammo and health stash. There are three levels:

Mercenary – This level takes place on The Colony, which is more accurate than the one in campaign, though not by much. Most of the travelling will be done outside with small buildings in between. Pretty much anywhere without a turret in this level is a death trap, as buildings provide little to no coverage and it’s easy to get overrun by Wey-Yu’s outside. Though, many times, you’ll be pushed into a corner fending for you’re life as the last of you’re bullets run out. These moments are perhaps the most epic and probably offer the best and closest expereince to the movie.

Broadside – This level takes place in space either on the Sephora or the Sulaco. I’m not entirely sure. It’s extremely close quarters, which is great, as you can easily mow down swarms of enemies in the small corridors. There’s a hanger with a stationed ship, which is a nice detailed item, and elevators are shutdown and broken with their tops open so Aliens and Wey-yu’s can jump down.

Tribute – The nice thing about this level is that it takes place on Hadley’s Hope pre-detonation (from the films and thus the name “Tribute”). While the other levels are either mostly focused outside or inside, Tribute makes good use of both options. You can either continue fighting and progress throughout the facility, or you can take the alternate route and progress through the backside, moving closer and closer to the atmosphere processing station reactor that is located at the back of the level. Be warned, though. Being outside increases the chances of death. As Newt would say, “they mostly come out at night… mostly”.

Either way, all these levels are nicely done, and despite the graphics looking ugly in this game, you can’t help but notice all the small details that were actually added compared to the campaign. At least we know that more effort is going into the DLC.

Closing

The only thing that I could honestly be disappointed with this DLC is the lack of trophies/achievements, or at least new unlocks. After going through all 30 waves, it would have been nice if we could somehow show other people what we accomplished. You do, technically, unlock additional starting points for levels when you complete all 30 waves. So, rather than starting off on wave one, you can select, say, Mercenary at wave 10 or 20. Honestly though, this isn’t much to be excited about, unless you want to get your face raped on wave 20 with only a tiny amount of money.

Overall, Bug Hunt mode is a great and – to a surprise – a well-made addition to the game. If you do plan on getting this DLC, I say go for the Season Pass. The DLC itself is set at a steep price of $15 with three more coming, so it’s probably better just to get the $30 pass. I, for one, felt that the money spent was well worth it.

Battlefield 4 Teaser – “Prepare 4 Battle” in the Air [Updated]

DICE and EA tease aerial battle in the upcoming next-gen FPS epic, Battlefield 4, set to be officially revealed in only a couple of days.

Earlier, we caught a glimpse of battle at sea, and battle on land as Digital Illusions CE prepares for Battlefield 4’s full unveiling on March 26th at 11 pm PDT.

Todays short vid, courtesy of GameTrailers, shows a chopper gearing up for war as its propellors slowly begin to spin up.

[youtube id=”wceJSGeuoww” width=”618″ height=”378″]

This presumably rounds up DICE and EA’s teaser campaign to get you hyped for Battlefield 4’s official unveiling. So, are you hyped? Keep your eyes out for the first real trailer March 26/27.

Thanks, DeLucaFTW.

Update

According to YouTuber TheEnd004500, the rotary assembly of the chopper appears similar to that of the Chinese WZ-10, a pretty bad-ass looking chopper, indeed. It’s also very likely considering earlier confirmation that the city of Shanghai would be an element of Battlefield 4’s setting.

A new update for Counter Strike: Global Offensive is now live for the PC, which tweaks the Hostage Rescue mode and also includes various miscellaneous fixes for the game.

For the full patch notes of this recent update, scroll down below:

March 21st Patch Notes

  • Added new Hostage Rescue map cs_militia
  • Update Hostage Rescue Mode rules
  • Hostage positions are randomly assigned at the beginning of the match. The hostages will start at these positions for the entire match.
  • Hostages are now carried by CTs instead of following behind.
  • Hold +use for 4 seconds to pick up a hostage. (Equipping a rescue kit will decrease the time required to 1 second.)
  • CTs win a round when the first hostage is rescued.
  • Reduced round timer. Round time is extended when the first hostage has been picked up.
  • Rebalanced money rewards to accommodate new rules.
  • Hostages now indicate whether they are above or below you on the radar.
  • cs_office, cs_assault, and cs_italy have updated to use random hostage spawn points.
  • Added convars to modify new hostage rules
    • mp_hostages_max – Sets the maximum number of hostages to spawn.
    • mp_hostages_rescuetime – Setting 0 removes the time extension when CTs pick up the first hostage.
    • mp_hostages_spawn_farthest – Setting 1 forces hostage spawn points to choose be the farthest possible combinations.
    • mp_hostages_spawn_force_positions – Setting a comma separate list (ex: 0,2 ) forces specific hostage spawn point combinations.
    • mp_hostages_spawn_same_every_round – Setting 0 randomizes the hostage spawn points every round.
    • mp_hostages_takedamage – Setting 0 allows hostages to be hurt.
  • Added hostage entity properties for new hostage rules
    • HostageSpawnRandomFactor – Allows to increase probability of hostage random spawning rules to use that spawn point.
    • HostageSpawnExclusionGroupN – Hostages sharing same spawn exclusion group will never spawn together.
  • The action of defusing a bomb will now terminate when you turn your view too far from facing the bomb.
  • Players always play a quiet client-side jump sound that can only be heard by the jumper.
  • Players play the regular jump (step) sound when moving greater than walk speed that can be heard by both the jumper and all clients in earshot.
  • The timer that performs the random map selection visuals now properly gets killed when the scoreboard hides.
  • Fixed convar mp_weapons_allow_map_place not properly eliminating map-placed weapons. NOTE: FY servers will need to set this convar to 1.
  • Added an option to func_dustmotes entity volumes that lets them choose to not be affected by wind.
  • Fixed in-game clipping for triple-monitor rendering configurations.
  • Added overtime indicator to GOTV spectators miniscoreboard.
  • Radar should now correctly follow spectated player when spectating via GOTV.
  • Adjusted score and MVP rewards for gameplay events related to planting, defending and defusing the bomb, and for reaching, protecting and extracting hostages.
  • Steam overlay game details will now correctly show players score.
  • Fixed special characters of player name not correctly displaying in some UI elements.
  • Fixed a bug where friends were banned from joining parties where one of the members failed to recently accept a competitive match.

In addition, VG247 is also reporting that this patch went live sooner than it was intended with a very interesting piece of code being discovered. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive may be seeing it’s own version of a “season pass” in the near future, as well as adding an in-game store, according to these lines of strings found when this update was released prematurely.

But, when the proper patch was released on its original schedule, Valve removed any mentions of the season pass with a new line of strings consisting of “CSGO_Ticket_CommunitySeasonOneSpring2013_Leak” “lol”, according to a reddit member.

What do you guys think?

Battlefield 4 Teaser – “Prepare 4 Battle” on Land [Update]

Earlier today, DICE and EA revealed Battlefield 4 naval warfare through this short video teaser, hyping up Battlefield 4’s official public reveal on March 27 and hinting at the idea that players will be able to battle it out at sea in this next-gen FPS.

It now appears GameStop got their hands on a similar teaser, this time demonstrating more familiar vehicle-based warfare on land.

[youtube id=”zaddKBTeo3k” width=”618″ height=”378″]

This short sequence shows a tank starting up its engines and preparing for battle on the ground. This leaves us expecting an aerial warfare teaser sometime in the near future, so keep those eyes on the lookout.

Thanks, B Vg.

Update

The official Battlefield 4 website has revealed artwork for Shanghai, a city that will most certainly play a role in the game’s setting.

Gamers Edge Gaming Eyewear Review – Get 20% Off Your Own Pair

Gunnar Optiks isn’t the only gaming eyewear company on the block. Vision Concepts and their Gamers Edge brand eyewear make a pretty suggestive statement that they belong in the gaming eyewear business. So, when a juggernaut is faced by an up and coming brand, who really wins? What are the pro’s and con’s when compared side by side? At the end of the day, is gaming eyewear even worth the money?

I was lucky enough to be sent a pair of Gamers Edge eyewear from Vision Concepts. The style frames I chose were that of the Silver Aviator style. Now, to get into a bit of the basics. With the amount of time we all spend in front of monitors and TV’s, it’s not a bad idea to think about investing in something to help our eyes out. With harsh digital glare and artificial UV light that emits from our TV’s, it takes it’s toll over time and can be damaging to your eye’s health. Have you ever gamed for a long session only to find your eyes getting dried out and irritated, maybe even feeling a bit fatigued? This is where companies like Gunnar Optiks and Vision Concepts come into play. They built a brand of performance enhancing glasses to help reduce the aforementioned side effects, as well as to help in terms of performance. Below I’ve broken down the two pairs in comparison to each other in a few crucial categories.

Pricing

Right off the bat, the one thing that stands out about the Gamers Edge brand is the affordable prices. Weighing in at $39.99 USD, their models are very affordable for the average gamer in comparison to the more expensive Gunnar Optiks, which are around $79.99 USD. Then comes in the classic phrase, “you get what you pay for, right?” That does not necessarily hold true to form in this particular instance. Gamers Edge goes toe-to-toe with Gunnar Optiks in every category and holds its own better than you would think. Gamers Edge obviously wins here, as the Gunnar’s are almost twice as much.

Comfortability

Nobody wants to feel uncomfortable doing anything in life. If you aren’t used to wearing glasses, then regardless, beginning to wear a pair could take some getting used to. In comparison to the Gunnar Optiks, I’ve noticed the Gamers Edge model to be a bit more comfortable. The main area in which I had issues with my Gunnars was the nose pad. The Gamers Edge pair just fit my nose much better and I found myself adjusting the Gamers Edge glasses less often. Both pairs were very light on my face and I didn’t have any issues with the weight. Also, both pairs came headset ready, meaning the frame extends straight back past your ear so your headset doesn’t shove the frame into your head. Now, I wouldn’t go out on the limb and say the Gunnars are uncomfortable, because they are not, but the Gamers Edge model edges out Gunnar Optiks in this category. No pun intended.

Reliability

With owning any gaming item, you need to be careful with how you treat things. Especially with glasses. Tossing them around or accidentally stepping on them could result in a fatal outcome. Now, I’m happy to report that both pairs seem rather reliable, although I am the type of person to take extreme care of items I purchase. There’s not a worse feeling when your scratched disc won’t load, seemingly feeling like you just tossed $60 down the toilet. The same concept can be applied to gaming eyewear. As long as you take care of your pair and don’t toss them around, they seem to be reliable and will last you a long time. Neither pair seems cheaply made and both have good build structure. I’ll go with an even tie here.

Style

Sure, some of my fellow gamers out there are all about their swag. If you are going for a stylish look and you are the type of person to always look their best, I suggest going the Gunnar Optiks route. While the Gamers Edge brand isn’t ugly by any means, they are just limited to only four design choices, while the Gunnar brand has a variety of different choices to choose from. My pair of MLG Phantom Gunnars are extremely sleek and sexy, while my Gamers Edge model could be mistakened for your casual pair of sunglasses. Now, for me, I don’t care about looking good while gaming, regardless, but I know that some of you may. Gunnar Optiks wins the style category.

Lens Technology

Both claim to have their own specific lens formula. Gamers Edge has their “iEdge lens filter” while the Gunnar boasts “i-AMP lens technology.” Initially, in my review, it took time getting used to both pairs, considering I’ve gamed for a decade while wearing nothing. Once you get used to the lens tint on both glasses, which is that of an amber color, you come to appreciate it. The big difference that stood out to me was the Gunnars were lighter in color than the Gamers Edge pair. Textures seem to be more vibrant and detailed with both pairs, and all of that extra light emitted from my TV being cancelled out is a major plus. I tested both pairs while playing Battlefield 3 and Black Ops 2 and after going back and forth, I seemed to prefer the Gunnar’s over the Gamers Edge, but it wasn’t a definitive decision, which is quite surprising.

Overall, I believe the Gamers Edge brand to be worth your investment and I would gladly recommend it to anybody out there looking for a pair of gaming eyewear at an affordable price. You are getting comfortability, reliability and your helping your wallet at the same time. They belong in the conversation with Gunnars and should not be ignored.

You can eye up your very own pair of Gamers Edge eyewear right here. Using the code ‘MP1st’ after you add an item to your cart, you’ll receive a 20% discount on any pair.

Are you a heavy user of gaming eyewear? Do you consider it an important part of your gaming peripheral?

Battlefield 4 Teaser – “Prepare 4 Battle” at Sea [Updated]

DICE and EA tease Battlefield 4’s upcoming reveal on March 27th with a quick video asking you to “prepare 4 battle” at sea.

The short, under water sequence focuses on the propeller of what is presumably some sort of naval ship, possibly confirming that they will play a role in Battlefield 4’s multiplayer.

Check it out for yourself below:

Naturally, naval warfare would open up many possibilities in Battlefield 4’s gameplay, either allowing a wider range of spawn options in multiplayer or allowing players to actually battle at sea.

What do you guys think?

3 Secrets To Harnessing Your Inner Rage

Whether it be the PO’d German kid playing Unreal Tournament, Croyt’s anger playing Halo 2, or the kid who shoves a TV remote up his bunghole for having his WoW account erased, let’s face an irrefutable truth ladies and gentlemen.  Most of us are victims of violent outbursts known in the gaming community as “Raging.”

I for one am embarrassed to admit that during my tween years, raging was a daily occurrence.  When I look back on my naive self, I can’t help but feel dense.  The numerous controllers I broke, the relationships I lost, the headaches that ensued, my rampageous behavior only hurt me physically and mentally turning me into a recluse.  But what if TheKimDynasty told you that you can manage your rage and alleviate the frustrations you suffer from circumstances such as Battlefield blueberries who don’t PTFO? Read on my friends and let me enlighten you with these suggestions.

Tip # 1: Meditate

Yes I’m Asian but ain’t no Buddhist monk and I’m far from Nirvana.  But adding meditation to your daily routine can work wonders not only for your mental well-being, but also your gaming performance.  Gunnar glasses, Astro headsets and fancy controllers can only do so much without a sound mindset.  Scientific and medical research have proven that meditation can reduce blood pressure, depression and anxiety levels, all factors that are heightened when you rage.  Take at least 10 minutes in your room before a game sitting down, either hands clasped or open, reflecting on the consequences of the possibility of raging while taking deep breathes.  Rythmically inhale and exhale at equal intervals and consider this while your at it, losing your temper may hurt you, your peers or worse, your image.  Take note, meditating is an exercise to control your mind and body.  Raging is a product of you losing control.

Tip # 2: Stay Positive

A Navy Seal wisely stated that everyday you wake up, you have a choice.  Either you can choose to be positive or negative.  From experience, negativity turns you into a cynic and can lead to a frequency in uncontrollable anger.  And trust me, NOBODY likes a cynic.  Remember, a good attitude can make a colossal difference to how you play and if you reflect a positive attitude to those you play with, more often than not, they will share the same courtesy.  Try not to blame the game or other people for your poor performance, because truthfully, you only have yourself to blame.  Again, the key word is ATTITUDE.

Tip # 3: Take Up Another Hobby

We all experienced a slump in some shape or form in our lifetimes and sometimes it’s unavoidable.  Gaming is no exception and at times we can feel helpless, depressed and furious.  But it’s important to note that gaming is just one aspect of our lives. There is so much to do in today’s world so long as you remain broad-minded.  If your game is not up to par or your being harassed by some asswipe hell bent on seeing you fail, set the controller or mouse/keyboard aside.  Go outside, read a book, workout, make connections or take up a sport.  Sure we want to be successful and have fun in our games but unknowingly we can hit a brick wall.  Enjoying activities outside of gaming can refresh your mind and will better prepare you to overcome obstacles we face on a daily basis, gaming included.

Like or dislike what you see?  Leave me feedback on my twitter @TheKimDynasty. What are some ways that you calm stress and reduce gaming rage?
