EA and Visceral Games announce Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel launches on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 26, 2013 along with the Overkill Edition offering number of pre-order bonuses.

Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel marks a new direction for the series as developers Visceral Games utilize the award-winning Frotsbite 2 engine from DICE to power their next over-the-top, co-op third-person shooter.

“With Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel we wanted to take the series in a new direction while also leveraging the aspects that made the first two Army of TWO games unique,” said Julian Beak, Executive Producer, Visceral Games. “We knew coming out of the gate that meaningful co-op gameplay, customization and over-the-top action would be key pillars for us, and we’re bringing these elements to the next level by presenting them in a setting that is more serious in order to dial up the intensity.”

Pre-orderding Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel Overkill Edition will grand you the following at the start of the game.

  • Early Access to Three “Overkillers” Contracts: Unleash massive destruction with three Contract variations designed for maximum rampage! Players must kill enemies and cause environment destruction to earn enough points to continuously stay in Overkill while making their way to the extraction point.

  • Celebrate the Day of the Dead: Bust out the Day of the Dead themed assault rifle and take on Mexico’s most ruthless drug lords in Day of the Dead themed outfit and masks designed by popular tattoo artists.

Have you played the first two Army of TWO games? Are you excited for Visceral Game’s third, built on the Frostbite 2 engine?

Happy Halloween From MP1st – Spooky Trailers and Undead News Round Up

I’ve got bad news for everyone. Our offices have been overrun by the undead. We’ve managed to take out a large sum of them, but with low ammo and our webmaster being bitten, things aren’t looking too well for us. We are currently locked up in the cafeteria located at the far end of our headquarters. Rather than calling for help or contacting the local authority through my Laptop, I’ve decided that now would be the perfect opportunity to write one last possible piece for MP1st. Sorry, Niosus. Your wounds will have to wait.

Time for some undead updates!

I know these aren’t multiplayer titles (well some are), but since it’s the holiday and some of you guys are looking forward to these, we thought we would make this an exception. Plus, these do make great titles to play when your with a group of friends.

DOTA 2 Celebrates Halloween by Unleashing the Roshan

A new game mode drops today for DOTA 2, which has both the Radiant and Dire rushing to gather candy for the Roshan. Feed him enough and you’ll be able to battle him along side with the opposite team.

[youtube id=”NrF8NNvO6Zw” width=”600″ height=”350″]

The DOTA store has also been updated for the event to include new costumes, chests, keys and even a baby Roshan.

ZombiU Opening Scene Teaser and Prepper Mission Gameplay

VG24/7 got a chance to show off a small snippet of the opening level for ZombiU, along with some footage of an early mission in the game. ZombiU is set to launch next month on the WiiU.

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs (PC) Release 2013

Yes, Amnesia is back with yet another title that looks just as horrifying as the last. Discover the monster that lurks in the darkness in this latest trailer.

[youtube id=”T8ZGK4h3HzY” width=”600″ height=”350″]

Oh, and that’s not the only reveal from thechineseroom’s (developers). Speaking with PC Gamer, Dan Pinchbeck revealed that the team is looking for players’ screams. Yes, that’s right. They want you to send them audio files of your screams.

“What we really need are some screams,” he says. “We want fans to record themselves screaming, puking and freaking out. Tape it all, send it through to us, and we’ll sift through it and the best stuff will end up going into a background mix for one of the levels.”

Send your screams here: piggies@thechineseroom.co.uk.

Outlast (PC) Release 2013

Outlast: Probably the most impressive, in terms of graphics, out of all these horror titles. After watching this trailer, I have never been so hyped about a horror title since, well, since forever. In a way, it does look to follow the Amnesia formula – leaving players with no weapon whatsoever and a limited source of lighting.

Until Dawn (PS3 PS Move) Release 2013

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Soundtrack Available November 13

On November 13th, Call of Duty fans will be able to treat their ears to the sounds of Black Ops 2 with the original soundtrack featuring composer Jack Wall whose work was recently featured in the Mass Effect series by BioWare, as well as the original Black Ops 2 theme written by critically-acclaimed singer, song-writer/composer Trent Reznor. His previous work was featured in films such as The Social Network as well as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Jack Wall, one of the more prolific composers in the gaming industry, talks about his involvement with Black Ops 2:

The story surrounding the single player campaign was of paramount importance to the developers at Treyarch. I wanted to do my part to give that story as much emotional depth as I could with the music. I think the fans will really appreciate how deep the story is in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

The Black Ops 2 soundtrack will feature more than 40 tracks and will be available on iTunes the same day the game releases for $11.99 USD. Those who’ve pre-ordered the Hardened Edition or Care Package Edition will receive the entire soundtrack at no extra cost.

All tracks can be sampled here on Amazon.

Meda of Honor: Warfighter – EA “Disappointed With the Critical Reception”

During an conference call concerning their quarter-two earnings, Electronic Arts discussed the recent reception of Danger Close’s latest military-shooter, Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

“The Medal of Honor launch is coming in below our expectations,” stated CEO John Riccitiello. MP1st gave the multiplayer a 7 out of 10, though it’s current Metactitic score sits just over 50.

President of EA’s Labels Frank Gibeau added, “We’re disappointed with the critical reception. Our internal testing and mock reviews indicated that the game is better than the actual score we have right now. We believe it is.

“However, we are seeing some folks out there that just don’t like the game.”

According to Gibeau, EA is “not happy” with how the game has been received thus far, considering “it’s the lifeblood of what we do,” he added.

Despite the hardships, EA and Danger Close are looking to fully support Medal of Honor: Warfighter with their first DLC, the Zero Dark Thirty map pack, set for a December release.

How do you feel Medal of Honor: Wafighter has been received thus far? We’re interested to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – Leaked Map List, Game Modes and Zombie Options

We get a look at some leaked Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 details including a list of game modes, multiplayer maps and some options available in the Zombies game modes.

Game Modes

First, let’s take a look at the list of game modes available in Black Ops 2’s multiplayer, three of which are available as multi-team games; Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint.

Map List

We’ve already seen a few maps available in Black Ops 2 multiplayer, including the action-packed Hijacked, but let’s check out what looks to be the final list of maps.

Oddly, this list only includes 13 maps, instead of the previously confirmed 14. It seems that Turbine is missing from this list, a map which has already been seen in some trailers and other Black Ops 2 promotional material.

Zombie Options

Lastly, you’ll notice some nifty Zombie options that you’ll be able tweak in order to customize your game play. Interestingly, you’ll be able to start at a particular round now, if you feel like skipping the first few. “Magic” includes features like the Magic Box and Perks, so you can play a “Pure” experience, without any magic, if you so choose. “Headshots Only” should provide some good competitive fun as well for those up to the challenge.

As a reminder, Zombies will include three different game modes. Tranzit, is your brand new story mode that takes you through different areas in the world of Tranzit, Survival is your standard and very familiar Zombies game mode that we’ve all come to know and love while Grief pits 4 players against another team of 4 as they compete to not be the last man standing against waves of zombies. Treyarch has, however, included a few mechanics in this last game mode that will allow players shift the zombies’ attention to the opposing team, making their lives much more difficult.

As we inch closer to Black Ops 2’s release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 13, which games modes, multiplayer or zombies, have you most excited?

Grand Theft Auto V – Rockstar Asks Your Wants in Multiplayer

By now, everyone should know that Rockstar Games has been up to three important things in the month of October. First, they announced that Grand Theft Auto V will grace the cover (and be the featured article) of the December issue of Game Informer, on sale in November. Then, they launched the official Facebook fan page for GTA V. More recently, they have asked the community what they would like to see in GTA V’s multiplayer, in terms of the Crews feature.

In my opinion, this last part interests me more than the first two. Why? Well, we know that the December issue of GI will be big. Anyone who tries to argue this is a moron and should be slapped across the face. The Facebook fan page is for people to discuss and argue the game and post pictures and such, but involving the community in what they would like to see included is something that concerns me as well as makes me happy.

It makes me happy because I am a huge fan and believer in community involvement. I love when a game has a beta. This way, fans can sound off on what needs to be fixed, what should be tweaked… etc. I love when a developer asks the community as well for ideas because it shows they actually care about bettering their product.

But in this case, it makes me question how far along the multiplayer is. Is it complete and they are just wanting to make changes to the Crews as it is the newest feature? Or, is the multiplayer still being developed and Rockstar wants to get it right the first time? The third concern is a little bigger and is a valid one.

Why is this limited to only the Crews feature?

Granted, I enjoyed the variety of game modes from GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption and even Gang Wars from Max Payne 3, but there are many aspects outside of Crews that I think could be improved upon, including some very nice additions.

Here are my wants:

I would rather see how we can have Crews integrated into GTA V’s multiplayer. Red Dead Redemption’s Posse feature (which was the foundation for Crews) worked because, in the middle of the game, you could start a posse with any player in the room, but playing with your Crew gains you bonus XP and builds your Crew’s rep and such. So, I want to see how Crews can fit in. As for the little Rivals section, I think that Rockstar could take a page from Battlefield 3 with their Matches feature – set up via Social Club a match between your crew and another and set the day, time and game mode. It would be a great way to incentivize the competitive side of the game.

My biggest concern, however, is the multiplayer itself and Rockstar’s lack of security and countermeasures against those who use mods. I cannot tell you how frustrating GTA IV’s online mode was. People having industry table vehicles, shooting people with rockets from an SMG, the ability to lag players out – Red Dead Redemption wasn’t as bad, but Max Payne 3 had a ton of aimbots being used and Rockstar’s solution was to find and single out all cheaters and place them in servers with other cheaters. What needs to be happen is a tightening up of their security to stop this from happening. If there is an issue with cheaters, Rockstar can find who they are and ban them. It is that simple!

Gameplay wise, I really liked the choice of game modes from GTA IV. Cops and Crooks was my personal favorite. I also enjoyed the way in which Red Dead Redemption’s multiplayer was set up. It was a free roam session and you could start a competitive mode by going to a marked site where other players would be alerted to you wanting to play. That said, I really enjoyed the co-op style modes that Red Dead offered, such as clearing out gang strongholds. I would truly love to see that brought into GTA V’s multiplayer as well as other co-op game modes. This would truly help build the Crews aspect by having Crews work together in these modes. I would also like to see a bit more customization for your character – to the extent of Max Payne 3’s customization for your avatar.

So there you have it! That’s my wants for GTA V multiplayer. What are yours?

This editorial appears on MP1st as seen on Lizzy’s blog.

Crysis 3 Closed Alpha Testing Begins November 2nd

For all you PC players who enjoy the Cyrsis series, beginning this Friday, Crysis 3 will be entering it’s alpha testing phase.

So, how exactly do you get into the Alpha you ask? Well, as of right now, you can’t or at least can no longer, seeing that all the keys have been given away in the short amount of time that they were available. Nvidia, famously known for their graphic and other PC hardware, held a giveaway today through their official Facebook page. Unfortunately, all 5000 keys were given away as soon as the giveaway went up.

Hopefully there will be more opportunity to join future testing, such as a closed and open beta (for PC and other platforms). We’ll make sure to keep you updated.

Good find, Neogaf Community.

Hurricane Sandy Disrupts Call of Duty Servers

The east coast of the United States has been, and continues to be, battered by an Atlantic super-storm named Sandy. While the worst has passed, many gaming and website servers housed in New York and the eastern coast have taken the brunt of it.

Dan Amrich, the Activision public relations coordinator, has posted a helpful article on his blog website detailing that some Call of Duty multiplayer servers may be unstable until Activision manage to re-establish full connectivity. The following games and their respective online multiplayer servers may be out of action or experiencing disruptions:

  • Call of Duty: World at War (all platforms)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3, PC, Wii)

It appears Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 3 are largely unaffected.

Infinity Ward tweeted out earlier confirming possible intermittent outages on Modern Warfare 2, saying that “our New York data center is currently experiencing issues due to Hurricane #Sandy. You may have trouble with MW2 multiplayer.”

Infinity Ward Community Manager Tina Palacious, also generalised that “if you’re having issues connecting in MW2, Black Ops, or World at War it’s because we’re having issues with our data center in New York.” She also stated, when replying to a question, that Modern Warfare 3 servers should be largely unaffected and they are “not aware” of any issues.

Candice Capen also states “our New York data center’s issues from Hurricane #Sandy may also affect your #MW3 vault if you’re a PS3 user.”

We’ll keep this article updated with as much detailed information and news for when we receive it.

Have you been affected by Super Storm Sandy? What other games and websites have you noticed having issues due to the hurricane’s passing and land-fall over eastern USA?

[Updated] Report – Captain Price Voice Actor Returning For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Update

Infinity Ward has debunked the recent talk of another Modern Warfare sequel, stating on their official Facebook page,

Interesting news today, but it’s not true. We’ve not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation. – IW Facebook Page

Thanks, Jeremy G.

Original Story

Bill Murray (not the famous hilarious one we all know and love) has confirmed that he will be returning for work on the next sequel in the highly acclaimed first-person shooter series, Modern Warfare.

In a recent, but short interview with ThisisXbox, Bill stated that he would be going back to Activision this upcoming Monday to discuss his next role in the title.

Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4, I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…

It should come to no surprise that Activision is already preparing for the next installment of Modern Warfare, seeing that they were already planning Modern Warfare 3 during the time the first Black Ops released.

What are you guys’ thoughts on another Modern Warfare Call of Duty title? We already know that it will most likely hit the Wii U and the latest PC hardware, but what about the PS3 and Xbox 360?

Battlefield 3: Aftermath – A Look at the Crossbow, New Premium-Exclusive Video

DICE introduces the new Crossbow in their upcoming Battlefield 3 multiplayer expansion, Aftermath.

Along with four brand new maps, new character skins, new vehicles and a new game mode, DICE will be including a set of assignments that also unlock the brand new Crossbow weapon along with four different bolt types.

In our interview with DICE prducer Craig Mcleod, he explains that the Crossbow is “unique in two very specific ways. The first one is it’s not acting as a primary weapon. It’s acting as a gadget. So, this means no matter what class you want to play as, or what your play style is, you can use the Crossbow. There’s two versions of it. One is a red-dot sight and the other one is an 8X rifle scope. So, if you like to get up close and personal, you can do that. If you want to keep your distance, you can do that too.”

Along with these two different set-ups, you’ll also have access to the four bolt types below, described in DICE’s latest blog post.

Standard Barbed Crossbow Bolt

While we wouldn’t recommend anyone being hit by this bolt, it has a rather pronounced bullet drop bolt drop and therefore limited range. The other three bolt types for the crossbow are individually unlocked by Assignments, and you can bring both your crossbow and all associated bolts back with you to the base game.

High Explosive Bolt

The high explosive bolt is a short range bolt laden with C4, exploding on impact. While not packing as much punch as an RPG shot or C4 charge, it still gives Assault players (who normally only have grenades in way of explosives) a chance to destroy vehicles or blow holes in the terrain to make tactical use of the destruction in Battlefield 3.

Scan Bolt

Then there’s the scan bolt, featuring a tip that includes a radio emitter, scanning the nearby area for enemies (in a 10 meter radius to be exact). Finally, the double feathered aerodynamic balanced bolt gives any class the ability to deliver deadly force at extreme range. For the Engineer class, for example, this means a rare chance to broaden their play style by adding long range engagement to what they already excel at: repairing/destroying vehicles and medium range combat.

Sniper Bolt

In this manner, the four different bolts and the crossbow become a jack of all trades solution suitable for any class. While none of the available bolts are as powerful as the standard weapons they mimic (a genuine sniper rifle will always be more powerful than a sniper bolt, for example), the ability to switch bolt type on the fly means any class can adapt to any situation. We are super excited about this new addition to Battlefield and are eager to see how it will shape gameplay online, both in Aftermath and when bringing it back to the base game.

Check out the Crossbow in action in some of these clips below or in this recently released Premium-exclusive video.

What do you guys think of the new Crossbow weapon? Do you see yourself using it often in Battlefield 3: Aftermath and other DLC or standard maps?
