Robert Bowling has announced that the latest MW3 patch, 1.08, will available to PS3 users at 2AM.
Bowling stated “The latest MW3 title update for PlayStation goes live at 2AM.” We know that Bowling usually refers to the PST time zone, so the patch is going live after midnight at 2am, February, 3rd*. Bowling explained that the patch “includes improved voice chat quality, theater fixes, weapon rebalances.” You can read more about the weapons tweaks here.
DICE updates Battlefield 3 fans on the state of the USAS-12 shotgun equipped with FRAG rounds and announces an incoming fix.
DICE recently stated that they “will be correcting an issue in which the USAS-12 is more effective compared to other FRAG-equipped shotguns – In an upcoming update.” When exactly this update will be released has yet to be announced. But, it could be assumed that it will be included in the aforementioned February patch, at which point PS3 users will also be seeing a fix for VoIP issues.
Also confirmed is a fix for some “weird glitches” with the MG36 as well as the Recon and Support “gun glitches” found on the Back to Karkand maps. “Those will be fixed in the next patch,” stated DICE. You can read more about these and other glitches that DICE is currently looking into here.
When community manager, Daniel Matros, was asked if any more details of the upcoming patch could be released, he stated, “Can’t release them yet unfortunately.”
Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has commented on the spawn problems Modern Warfare 3 is experiencing, and revealed when PS3 paid elite member will receive the first DLC drop.
Bowling has announced that “Modern Warfare 3 players on PlayStation 3 with Elite Premium will receive the new maps Liberation & Piazza on Feb 28th.” Xbox 360 owners received the drop back on January, 24th. A little over a month between the two consoles. This is in line with the timeline we put together last month. Bowling explained that once the maps are live on the 28th,”you have to go to the Store in the MP menu and choose to download the maps.”
After several updates to the spawn logic in Modern Warfare 3, further improvements are still necessary. Specially, with the release of the first Elite drop, where on Liberation the spawn system has a lot of issues in the bridge area. Here’s an example of the problems with Liberation’s spawns. Bowling thanked fans for the MW3 spawns feedback on Twitter, and added “at no time should you spawn with an enemy. I’m going to discuss it with our MP team today.”
Feedback from Battlefield 3 fans is coming in hot as DICE acknowledges bugs and glitches requiring attention.
While it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not these bugs and glitches will be fixed in the upcoming February patch, DICE has confirmed to be looking into them. What has been confirmed, however, is an incoming fix for PS3 VoIP issues. Read here to find out more. Without further adieu, here are a number of glitches players have been reporting in to DICE who claims to be seeking fixes.
To start off with some of the less common ones, some players have been noticing that the points earned whilst flying a jet are not accounted for at the end of some matches. DICE: “This is a known concern that we are investigating.”
Others are reporting an instance of being stuck on a black screen, at which point players need to back out of the game through other means than selecting quit. DICE: “We are aware but are continuing to make a note of this.”
Two more common weapon glitches are also being reported in. The first is an instance when the player’s character model holds his weapon way above his head. As the player, one is only able to see the arms, blocking most of your field of vision. This seems to happen more commonly with some weapons than others. DICE: “The developers are aware of this glitch.”
Maybe even worse, something that can only be fixed by either turning off your platform or uninstalling/re-installing the disc, is the infamous “no-gun glitch”. In this case, no weapon appears on screen at all and players are unable to shoot. DICE: “We’re aware of this glitch and are looking into it.”
Some of the more serous bugs appear in instances of trying to play with others in a squad. Many players across all platforms report having their team either split up soon after joining up, upon entering a match, or after teams “auto-balance” themselves. This is one of the more serious bugs as Battlefield 3 is primarily a team-oriented shooter. It’s a shame to not be assured that your squad will be sticking together throughout play sessions. DICE had this to say regarding squad issues: “We are aware that this is happening to some people. Please contact EA support about this.”
What are some of the bugs or glitches you’ve been experiencing, if any? Let us know in the comments below
During an earnings call with investors yesterday, EA teased an upcoming announcement for Battlefield 3, which has sold over 10 million copies.
Regarding DLC plans for EA’s marquee franchises, Peter C. Ausnit, EA VP of Investor Relations, stated “we’ve got plans for all of our major franchises to turn them into more of as we’re seeing with FIFA and with Battlefield more as games for service that have constant flow of downloadable content.” He went on to add, “you’re going to hear some announcements from us on Battlefield actually as early as next week in an event we’ve got in New York.”
Hopefully, the All American DLC rumor will be confirmed next week in New York, which is one of the locations the DLC is rumored to be set in. Also next week, PS3 users should finally get the long awaited VOIP patch.
Last night, David Jaffe announced on a live stream that Twisted Metal was pushed back in Europe due to content cuts needed for the region. Today, Jaffe has taken to NeoGAF to clarify why the game is delayed, and shed some light on the content cuts.
The game is not region locked, so Europeans will be able to import the North American version.
Jaffe didn’t want to change any content, but Sony has the final say as the owners of the IP.
99% of the cuts were made in the movies. Read points number 3 and 4 for examples.
The two versions of the game are just “a touch different.”
The game should be set to release on March 1st in Europe.
Read Jaffe’s full statement as shown on GAF:
1- I DO NOT think it’s region locked. In fact, if it is, that’s brand new cause I remember thinking, ‘No way we can do ranked games all over the world cause of lag’ and our amazing net coder was like, ‘nope, should be ok’….so I don’t THINK that’s true. In fact, until you guys mentioned it, it never would have occurred to me that we would be region locked cause as of yesterday, we were not. But again, I only found out yesterday we’re slipping in Europe so if you’ve got a link, send it. Otherwise, worldwide game still on!
2-RE CONTENT CUTS A: Well nothing like Black. And come on, you think I wanted to change content? FUCK no- for a bunch of reasons ‘fuck no’. But it ain’t my game (Sony owns the IP and funded it) and certain countries have- obviously- much stricter guidelines. AND since TM has never been a big seller outside of America, I guess it didn’t make sense to have a whole bunch of different discs for each country (i.e. Germany gets disc ver. 3, UK gets disc ver 6, etc.)
3- RE CONTENT CUTS B: It’s not a TM:BLACK style change. 99% of the cuts were in the movies and the movies are still intact and I sat with the editor- who was the same editor of the American movies- and we went thru and addressed the notes from Europe and made sure the stories still worked. And to be fair, there have not been that many cuts. For example, in the scene we’ve released on the net from the intro- where the girl stabs Tooth in the eye- the SCEE version has this but we cut away right before the scissors make contact with Tooth’s face. It’s CLEAR what she’s doing and I think we even keep the sound effects in and such- but the last few frames are gone. The story itself tho totally works and- for some folks even who tend to think this kinda stuff plays better left to your imagination anyway- perhaps it even works better.
4- RE CONTENT CUT C: Only a few content cuts for the game- for example, I think the guy on the gurney from Meat Wagon is dead so you are exploding a corpse covered with TNT vs. a screaming man trapped to the gurney. Sucks on my end but at the same time, I get it and the game play isn’t different and the intent is still there, as is the humor. In some ways, it’s actually much more macabre when you think about it. Shooting a dude screaming out the back of an ambulance is pretty stupid and fun and cartoony in a dark, twisted way. Turning a stolen from the morgue CORPSE a missile? A bit more disturbing in some ways…not trying to sell you on it, just thinking outloud.
Anyway, it sucks in that I HATE cuts the original game. At the same time, it’s nothing like TMB and players in SCEE territories will be able to play the same game and dive into the same Twisted universe as SCEA players. It’s a touch different but I and the team still stand JUST as proudly behind the SCEE versions and are very excited that we’ll be able to meet up with TM players the world over online and share the game together.
5- As for delay- yeah, it sucks too. Localization just taking a touch longer. Altho I heard March 1 and someone on this board- I think- is saying March 31?!? Does March even have 31 days?!?! It might…shit, I’m dumb. I honestly sit here and can’t recall…lessee…no I think March goes to 30, right? ANYWAY point being: I heard March 1 (and I KNOW there’s a March 1, dammit!)….are you guys hearing something different?

During a live developer stream, hosted by Sonyrumors, new details for Twisted Metal were revealed.
It has been confirmed that there will now be rank unlocks. Though, some might think this would unbalance the game, these unlocks are not “Upgrades”, which imply that some players would have access to better weapons, (getting something better then something else) stated Jaffe. Along with weapons, Vehicles will also be unlocked by reaching a certain rank.
Also, killstreaks rewards have been confirmed for Twisted Metal. Turbo, mega gun, and red mega gun are just some of the rewards found in the game. Although the red mega gun is a very powerful reward, it is only exclusive to killstreaks and all these killstreaks are balanced. Killstreaks are intentionally put into the game to “intensify” the struggle to stay alive.
A new trophy has been confirmed, and apparently will be the hardest trophy to get. Players must freeze an enemy. Once the enemy is frozen, they must then hit them with yet another freeze, which will then bounce back freezing them. The trophy requires you to kill yourself with the redirect freeze blast.

Sony has announced on both the American and European PlayStation Blogs that the PlayStation Network will undergo maintenance tomorrow for about 18 hours.
The maintenance starts tomorrow, February 2nd, at 6am PST (2pm GMT, Feb 2nd) until midnight PST (7am GMT, Feb 3rd). All PAL territories will be affected along with the US. We can safely bet that the PSN in Canada and Mexico will be down as well.
The following services won’t be accessible during the period,
PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP, and Media Go
PlayStation Network Account Management
PlayStation Network Account Registration
PlayStation HomeMusic Unlimited & Video Unlimited services
You will not be able to sign in to PlayStation Network from us.playstation.com (or the PlayStation.Blog).
You “may be able to” play games online during the maintenance, if you log in before the maintenance kicks off. While the PSN is down, you will still be able to collect trophies that will sync with your profile after the service is restored.
It was reported last month that Twisted Metal would release in Europe February 17th, just three days after the US release. According to Jaffe, this has now changed.
According to David Jaffe and Other Twisted Metal Developers, the game has now been delayed until March 1st. This is due to localization issues. Along with this, the EU version will be seeing cuts, which isn’t by choice. Content that is too “graphical” will be omitted out of the EU version of the game.
This was all confirmed on a live developer chat hosted by Sonyrumors.

EA has released its financial results for Q3 FY12. The two standout franchises are Battlefield and FIFA.
EA’s CEO, John Riccitiello, stated, “we are pleased to report a strong holiday quarter driven by Battlefield 3, FIFA12 and a strong showing by our digital games and services.” In the 3rd quarter report for the fiscal year, “Battlefield 3 and FIFA 12 each sold through more than 10 million units. Madden NFL 12 has sold through almost 5 million units life-to-date.” Just to clarify, 10 million units sell through to customers, not units shipped to retailers, which would be higher than 10 million. Last sale figures were released back in November, and Battlefield 3 had a sell through of 8 million units.
Battlefield 3 deservedly won our first multiplayer experience of the year award, and we look forward to DICE’s future DLC plans. Speaking of DLC plans, EA has stated that they will be making an announcement during next week’s New York event. Read here for more.
Modern Warfare 3’s creative strategist, Robert Bowling, discusses panic knifing, quickscoping, weapon balancing, and potential nerf to Type-95.
Earlier today, we reported on Bowling’s suggestions on how to deal with panic knifing. In a nutshell, Bowling suggested that players should be careful when walking around corners. This advice aggravated one fan to jokingly demand Bowling to remove corners all together. Robert’s response was quite amusing, “roger. Got it, the answer to camping is to remove all corners. Call of Duty: Circle Warfare will be amazing.” Now that panic knifing is under the magnifying glass, one fan suggested that everyone hates it. Bowling disagreed, “the guy doing the knifing is loving it.” Another fan tried to persuade Bowling by bringing up the realism argument in regards to knifing, Robert answered “that’s the thing about war in video games and war in real life. One is fun; the other is real.” In terms of quickscoping, some players believe that there is a difference in quickscoping mechanics between semi-automatic rifles and bolt actions, Robert refuted these claims, “I don’t believe so. It should be the same mechanic.”
One fan approached Bowling with an interesting observation, basically he stated that Treyarch “messed up” Black Ops by “nerfing everything.” To which, Bowling responded, “I agree that weapon rebalancing should be a very selective process.” I don’t believe that Bowling is criticizing Treyarch, but offering his thoughts on the weapon rebalancing process to be more conservative. As previously mentioned, no additional tweaks are planned at the moment. Read more about the weapon balancing in patch 1.08, which will be released soon on PS3 and PC. One weapon that is still considered to be overpowered is the Type-95, Bowling stated “We haven’t discussed any additional nerfs beyond the slight one we made a few updates ago.” Type 95’s hipspread was slightly reduced back in December.
Honestly, I haven’t been following Starbreeze Studios’s modern FPS take on Bullfrogs Productions’ 1993 real-time tactical game, Syndicate, very closely up until now. Upon downloading the recent demo for my Xbox 360 to see what this bad boy was all about, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.
To give you the basic rundown, Syndicate takes the fast-paced, arcade-like action of Black, the fluid character movement of Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2, and the aesthetics of Mass Effect and Deus Ex and combines these ingredients to create a fun, unique and flashy sci-fi FPS experience.
In this co-op demo, up to 4 players can band together to take on a high-tech mercenary camp in Western Europe set in the year 2069, the only map currently available in this demo. Before heading off into a lobbly, Syndicate’s menus allow players to explore a surprising amount of customizability and unlocks. Players can select loadouts which consist of one primary weapon (6 choices), one secondary weapon (3 choices) and up to two (or perhaps more later on) “apps” (perks or abilities). Apps are selectable in-game using the top three d-pad buttons to initiate. Chip upgrades allow players to unlock and select a number of abilities, both passive and active. Players can also research weapon projects to further improve their weapon(s) of choice. Some of these upgrades include better ammunition, magazine extensions, and different weapon sights among many others. Application research allows players to select and upgrade the different apps that you will be appointing to your d-pad buttons to use in-game. These range from shield buffs to an increase in damage output. Lastly, players also have access to a number of challenges, contracts and stats to keep the addiction factor at a maximum. The leaderboards also allow players to compare stats with friends and view scores for the various co-op maps. It seems that all of the unlocks are available in this demo so players should be able to beef up there soldiers all the way to max level if they sink enough time in.
While you could spend hours in the menus, it’s the gameplay that really shines, as it should.
Starbreeze studios went for a more realistic and “heavy” feel for soldier movement à la Battlefield 3. But they also kept the fluidity found in games like Crysis 2. Players can sprint, duck, jump, melee, and slide to move quickly around the battlefield. Unfortunately, the current controller options do not allow for the more common alternative button layouts for ducking and meleeing. But it is very friendly for left-handed users. When it comes to look sensitivity, players do have the option to get quite picky if need be. Both the sensitivity and acceleration for the X and Y axes are both adjustable.
Upon entering the battlefield, you’ll notice that the chip-enhanced heads up display can be quite cluttered and intimidating at first. Once you’re used to it, however, it can be pretty effective. Holographic indicators are used much like in the Dead Space series. It also allows players to easily keep a tab on the status of others in your party. Objectives are clearly marked and an announcer usually clearly states what you need to be doing if you ever get lost or confused. One tip to keep in mind: use the left bumper/L2 for everything! It will “breach” computers, electronics, shields and also allow you to heal and “reboot” fallen comrades. I would have liked to see some more in-game communication between soldiers. For example, there were a number of moments when I wanted to spot enemies in hard to see areas that my teammates were missing, or moments when I needed to direct a teammate to focus on a certain objective because either I was too far away from it, or I didn’t have the proper loadout or enough ammunition to tackle the situation myself. Lastly, points are awarded for kills, assists, taking down “generals” and accomplishing other tasks. These points go towards a number of unlocks and also can be used as a way to compete with fellow teammates.
Since when did Mass Effect become a First-Person Shooter?
One thing I absolutely adore about Syndicate’s co-op in general is that it does not directly tell you how to tackle certain tricky situations, but rather allows players to figure it out on their own. Two examples come to mind here.
Early on in the Western Europe map, players are tasked with making their way past an APC with a laser guided light machine gun. There is no way to destroy this LMG without getting close to it so players are forced to intelligently move past it using cover. Tackling the situation alone, you’ll find that the red laser pointer will constantly be painted on your chest, meaning that the gunner is focused solely on you. However, this is the perfect moment for teammates to move up, knowing that fire is being drawn. Once it indicated that it has turned to its next target, you’ll know it’s your turn to move up.
Mid-way through the level, you will encounter a rather tough enemy with impenetrable shields. At first, you might have no idea how to get past these shields, realizing that your weapons do nothing. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that the shields can be breached or hacked using the left bumper/L2. But once again, attempting this on your own will simply get you killed as this particular enemy is rather ruthless. Again, teammates need to draw his fire so that others can get a chance at taking down his shields. It might not be possible in one go, so players will have to work together and take turns drawing fire and breaching shields.
Oh, and the dubstep music rocks. In fact, I’m listening to the 3-track soundtrack available on Syndicate’s official Facebook page as I write this.
I will definitely be looking forward to Syndicate’s release on February 21st. Stay tuned for more Syndicate news and make sure to try out the demo, currently available on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Not a big fan of being “panic knifed” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? Get used to it. Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, responds to fans’ dislike of the current knifing system and the state of the Extreme Conditioning perk.
If you’re using the standard button layout for Modern Warfare 3, then you know the swing of your blade is only a tiny right thumb click away (on consoles) from downing your enemy in one foul swoop. This reflex tends to be the first reaction of one who finds themselves in a tricky situation all of a sudden. Hence the term, “panic knifing”. This has been a part of the Call of Duty franchise for ages now. But more and more, it seems to be receiving a lot of “hate” from the Call of Duty community. Many see it as a “cheap” and “easy” way to get kills. To add insult to injury, it definitely isn’t fun being knifed after having shot your enemy a couple of times first. In a virtual argument with fans on Twitter, Robert Bowling shares his view on the infamous “panic knife”.
“The lesson here is 1) Get a headshot at that range. – or – 2) Don’t get so close to your enemy,” Bowling argued. He also stresses caution when turning corners to avoid being knifed. “Of course you’ll get stabbed if you run into someone. Thats the risk of not taking your time and not checking your corners.” Obviously, Bowling is ‘for’ the current system of knifing.
Bowling was also recently asked numerous times if anything is going to be done about the Extreme Conditioning perk, which currently allows players to sprint for longer periods of time. Past iterations of this perk allowed players to sprint indefinitely. When asked if Infinity Ward would consider changing the perk back to Marathon, Bowling answered, “No. We purposely used Extreme Conditioning rather than Marathon…” As for any other sort of tweaks, Bowling stated, “nothing planned. Extreme Conditioning is fine as is, in my opinion.”
On a minor note, Bowling was also asked if shotguns would ever be seeing any further tweaks since the recent patch 1.08 as some users declare them to still be underpowered. He replied, “anything’s possible, but no plans currently.”
What are your thoughts on Panic Knifing, Extreme Conditioning and Shotguns? Does Panic Knifing got to go? Should Extreme Conditioning be turned back into Marathon? Do shotguns need more tweaking? Let us know in the comments below!
Infinity Ward Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, gives Modern Warfare 3 fans an update on the status of the incoming PS3 and PC patches (1.08).
PS3 and PC users have been anxiously awaiting Patch 1.08 which was recently released on the Xbox 360. Make sure to read up on the full list of patch notes here. As mentioned earlier, the PS3 version will be receiving a few extra updates which, in turn, have caused its delay.
Answering questions on Twitter, Bowling revealed that the PS3 MW3 Patch 1.08 has “been in certification at Sony this past week and should be released by them soon.” He added regretfully, “we don’t control how long certification takes, thats out of our hands.” When asked for an estimated time of arrival, Bowling answered, “no way to know for sure, as its out of our hands once it enters certification. However, its typically a 2 week process (1 week down).” This should give PS3 users some hope that they will be installing a shiny new patch by next week. Word on a release date for the PS3 content drops have yet to be given, but Bowling did clarify that between the patch and the content drops, “the patch will be released first.”
Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be the same case for the latest PC patch. When asked for a release date, Bowling replied, “I don’t have a date yet, but I’ve been asking them to start getting PC updates out in line with others platforms.”
Make sure to follow MP1st on Twitter and Facebook and visit our Patch Note section for all the latest details!
David Jaffe took to Twitter to assure players that the “network bug” hampering the game at the moment is being fixed.
Sony released a demo for Twisted Metal earlier today. However, players have been experiencing some difficulties with joining games. Jaffe stated “Good-ish news, just talked to Sony, they’ve found the problem that’s preventing a large percentage of games being joined. They are working on the issue, and it seems a fix is coming very soon. Thank you all so much for being understanding! We f**king hate this!” This is why we love Jaffe; he’s a gamer at heart. Unfortunately, he went on to say, “not ready to give [an] ETA yet.” The demo will be playable until February 7th, so don’t fret there’s plenty of time to play the game.
DICE has confirmed that PS3 users should expect an update this Monday to address the VOIP issues. The developers also commented on various issues.
Bugs, MAV, and DLC Rumor
DICE has assured fans that “the developers are aware of” the game freezing, on the 360, when players bring up the scoreboard right after dying on Sharqi Peninsula. Another map issue is when, in Team Deatchmatch, players can reach the highway on Tehran Highway, DICE revealed that “we are aware and investigating!” In regards to the MAV exploit, when asked if it is considered cheating, the developers stated, via Twitter, that they “certainly don’t encourage it, put it that way.” Cheating or not, this issue will patched soon. On different note, DICE’s Alan Kertz expectedly refused to comment on the “All American” DLC rumor, stating that it’s a “rumor, speculation;” therefore, he didn’t comment on the subject.
PS3 VOIP Update
The VOIP problems that have plagued the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 will finally be ironed out on February 6th. The mandatory patch, which was promised last month, will set you back 20MB in memory, DICE announced on the official blog (can’t be accessed at the moment). Unfortunately, we still don’t know if this is the long awaited February patch, or a PS3 specific patch for VOIP. The other, rather more important, PlayStation 3 issue, input lag, wasn’t commented on, but we will make sure to update you on the matter when more information surfaces.
After last night’s maintenance, DICE’s Battlelog is back up and running with some shiny new improvements.
Battlelog Update #5
DICE Community Manager, Daniel Matros, listed the changes made in the Battlelog Update #5:
The News section is now available without logging in.
Changed browser detection to be less invasive (the yellow bar is no more). Instead, an inline popup will be displayed when trying to launch the game from unsupported software of devices, detailing what is wrong.
Anyone who has played BF3 can now log in to Battlelog. Previously an Online Pass was required.
When getting disconnected from the game, the Game Manager will display a “Reconnect” button.
The game server detail page will now display the server description and server message, if available.
Lots of bug fixes.
Better Battlelog
On January 25th, Add-on Developer, Roland “DJ Brainnrg” Eigelsreiter released the “biggest” version of Better Battlelog (or BBLOG), a browser add-on for DICE’s original social network/stat-tracking service, the Battlelog.
BBLOG, approved by DICE officials, was developed to help bring the original Battlelog to a whole new level of detail in terms of stat tracking and functionality. Currently, it is a simple download available as an extension for the Chrome and Firefox internet browsers. Some of its most striking features are the extremely detailed weapon stats, produced in conjunction with Symthic.com, as well as it’s inline YouTube support (videos can now be embedded into wall posts) and forum functionality, on top of other details that should make all Battlefield 3 player’s experience much smoother. Also of note is that this add-on actually fixes some minor bugs currently present in the original Battlelog.

A few days ago, David Jaffe announced that Health Pickups would have no options to be turned off. These users on both the Twisted Metal Community Forums and the TMAlliance boards have been complaining about the recent announcement of a no health pickups option in un-ranked games, and even in certain ranked games. The main reason for these complaints is that it makes the game feel less skillful and dumbed down compared to previous Twisted Metal games.
For example: Say your chasing down an opponent and you’re unloading a whole clip into them. In previous Twisted metal games, the attacker never had to worry about their target gaining their health back, and in most cases it was up to the target to find a way to counter this. Now, they have to worry about them picking up health packs, which means the attacker would have most likely used a large amount of ammunition from the previous weapon pickups. This also means that anyone of any skill level can have an upper hand over each other easily. Battles can be decided just based on the fact that there was a health pack waiting there for that person.
So, what this means for the Veterans of Twisted Metal is that the game is no longer as hardcore as they remembered and that it’s targeted towards a casual audience. David Jaffe responded to these complaints by saying that the team has been testing the game out for over a year. “NOT ONCE has ANYONE said ‘man, I think this would be better without any pickup 1/3 health packs” Jaffe said,”plus the game is done for now… We want to get the game out, see how it plays for the world, and then we’ll make some decisions.”
He also confirmed that these health pickups won’t be in random locations and that they will only fill 1/3 of your health. They are also all visible on the mini map display. Players who do remember the health issue in previous Twisted Metal game should be reminded that this is a completely new Twisted Metal game. Many other fans have said that there is a demo coming out, and since no one outside of the QA and a few other have played the new twisted Metal, then they have no idea how health pickups are going to work. “until you play it, you can’t say with 100% accuracy what works and what does not.” Jaffe said and that players should give some time for the game to breath, cause after all they will continue to look into these issues and if fans find it being to much of a problem then they will make their decision after the game has launched.
Alternatively there are modes such as Net Carnage where health is “irrelevant”. A certain game modes won’t be stretched out due to the time limit set in place. The guys over at Eat, Sleep, Play want the community to know that they are listening and will take action once they receive more feedback post game launch. You can find David Jaffe long explanation of where he stands on health in Twisted Metal here.
If anything I feel people are overreacting to this. As David has said, people should wait until they try the demo out. I have been Twisted Metal fan fir a long time, ever since the game originally released on the PS1 nearly seventeen years ago (yeah long time). I remember the issue with health pickups in previous Twisted Metal games, and can see where some of the other hardcore fans are coming from. I do however have complete faith in Eat, Sleep, Play, and trust that they have found a perfect balance between health and skills. We live in a very different generation of gaming now. The reason why I always loved the TM series is just based on the idea that it was all about skill. But , does health really take the skill factor away? In previous TM games they did, but like I said, the developers have worked their butts off with the new Twisted Metal to tweak things, such as health. They are now in certain spots and have longer respawn times. Perhaps they can even add to becoming a more skilled player. As Jaffe puts it, stop them before they get health pickups and learn what’s coming ahead of time by learning and mastering the maps.
So what do you guys think? Is it something that really is game wrecking to have or not?

Modern Warfare 3’s creative strategist, Robert Bowling, goes through the names Liberation once had, and shares his personal wish list of which old Call of Duty maps he would want to play in MW3.
Bowling explained that initially “Liberation was called Park,” remember the screenshot teaser. However, the name was changed based on fan feedback. Robert noted, “everyone said it’s a horrible f**king name. That’s the best you could come up with?” The team realized that the fans had “a solid point.” This led to changing the map’s name to ‘Central Park’. However, “the lawyers freaked out” over the legal ramifications, according to Robert Bowling during a Machinima live stream. Bowling went on to add, “I think, at the end of the day, we could have possibly called it Central Park,” but this wasn’t meant to be because the team behind Modern Warfare 3 decided to “give it a Call of Duty-esque name.”
Bowling commented on possible DLC drops other than maps and missions. The Call of Duty content calender highlights 20 drops, two of which are “classified” dropping in August and June. Bowling entertained the possibility of gun DLC. In terms of maps, back in November we reported on Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 map files found in Modern Warfare 3. When Bowling was asked whether the team behind Modern Warfare 3 would bring any old maps back, he stated “I don’t know yet.” Bowling added that from a personal standpoint, he “would love to see CrossFire, Backlot, Favela, and [his] favorite two Call of Duty maps ever, Overgrown and Crash.” Interestingly, four of the maps Bowling mentioned are allegedly included in MW3’s map files.
What old maps would you like to see in future DLC?
