Disney Speedstorm Update 1.26 Rockets Out This May 13

Kart racing game Disney Speedstorm update 1.26 (PS5 version 1.026) is now available for download, and this seems to be an unannounced title update. We got Season 7 last month, so chances are, this is for fixes connected to that title update.

Disney Speedstorm Update 1.26 Patch Notes for May 13:

Update: While Gameloft hasn’t revealed any patch notes, the community has confirmed one change and that’s Golden Pass credits are now shown in the Shop and Golden Pass (via SabeLar)

CDN media

Gameloft has not revealed any patch notes for this update yet, but a known issue for the game was addressed just a few days ago on the game’s official Discord page. Read the known issue posted dpwm below.

The team is aware that the Selectable Racer offer in the in-game Shop is currently showing 1 Racer Shard per Racer. This is a purely visual issue and the team is investigating. The offer is for 10 Racer Shards and 10 Shards are correctly received when purchasing the offer.

We will update this post as soon as we can when the official patch notes are revealed hopefully later today. Stay tuned for more updates about Disney Speedstorm soon.

Report: Steam Confirms It Was PlayStation, Not Them, Who Removed Helldivers 2 From Storefronts; Arrowhead Still Wants Game Available “Everywhere”

For those who can’t buy Helldivers 2 on Steam, it’s not just Valve throwing a hissy fit and decided they don’t want your money anymore, it’s actually Sony who is at fault here, which was confirmed by Valve.

For those unaware, Sony announced a week ago that Helldivers 2 PC players will be required to create and link a PlayStation Network account so they can continue playing the game or to even buy it. As one might expect, this was met with a lot of backlash, and it even involved the devs interacting with the community in a not-so-positive way. While Sony eventually caved and removed the PSN account linking requirement, it seems this good news came with some bad news as well, as some countries are now prohibited from buying Helldivers 2 on Steam. Now, for those thinking it’s Valve’s fault, it’s not, and this Steam support message (via HellDuke) basically confirms it’s the game’s publisher’s decision.

CDN media

As you can see, it’s plain as day there that it states “this game is not available on Steam right now for specific regions as decided by the publisher.” For those unaware, Sony is the publisher of Helldivers 2, with independent studio Arrowhead Game Studios handling development duties.

Continuing with the topic of Helldivers 2 being pulled from Steam, three countries were added into the list of countries that can’t buy shooter from Steam officially, and these are Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Per Arrowhead Game Studios boss Johan Pilestedt, this was due a “administrative error correction,” as the three countries were supposed to be part of the original list, but were accidentally left out. It was only noticed to be missing from the list after Sony put the same restriction for Ghost of Tsushima on PC. In addition to that, Pilestedt mentioned in the official Helldivers Discord that they (Arrowhead) still want the game to be available everywhere.

It seems Sony is the one who doesn’t want money and sales for some reason, as the company would rather alienate the population of over 150 countries, by trying to figure out a way to somehow shoehorn PSN into its games released on Steam.

Hopefully, Sony will also reverse this decision at some point, so Arrowhead can just focus on the continued development of Helldvers 2 instead of having to deal with all this nonsense.

Marvel Rivals: Content Creators Asked to Sign Contract That Prohibits Saying Anything Negative to Gain Access to Playtest

In case you didn’t know, Marvel Rivals, the hero shooter being developed by NetEase (think Overwatch meets Marvel) launched its closed alpha playtest this weekend. As one might expect, content creators are covering the game in order to give interested players an idea of how it plays, but it seems these said creators aren’t even allowed to say anything negative about the still-in-development multiplayer game.

Streamer Brandon Larned has outed that in order to gain access to the closed playtest, content creators such as himself are now allowed to say anything negative about Marvel Rivals, as mentioned in the contract.

Image

Dataminer and reliable leaker Miller also weighed in on this recent development (as most content creators might not have even read this part of the contract before signing it).

While it’s standard practice that streamers, members of the press (like us) signs an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) in order to play a game early or gain access to a private test, it’s very rare that a developer or publisher prohibits the participant to say anything negative about the game. Sure, I understand that NetEase probably doesn’t want some random Overwatch content creator dunking on Marvel Rivals or calling it a copycat and whatnot, but surely there must’ve been a better way to do this than prohibiting people from saying anything negative about your game, right? Heck, NetEase could have mentioned in the NDA that content creators can’t put the word “review” in their content when handing a verdict about the game, and that might have been okay.

Marvel’s Rivals has no release date set yet, but it’s confirmed to be headed to PC, with a console release looking like it’s a certainty given the datamined info.

If you’re curious at what each hero can do, check out our hero blowout where we list down the abilities of all 19 characters available in the closed alpha.

Update: NetEase has issued a tweet about the contract and basically said that content creators can talk about the game as they wish.

If anything about this develops more, we’ll update the article.

Helldivers 2 Star Wars Mod Looks Pretty Insane

Star Wars is coming to Helldivers 2 as a brand-new mod on PC, which will see players venture off to a galaxy far, far away.

As shared by YouTuber ToastedShoes, this Helldivers 2 Star Wars mod will put players in the role of clone troopers. However, this mod doesn’t just alter the armor of Helldivers, as many other assets have been replaced with Star Wars-themed counterparts. The massive ships seen in space have been replaced with Star Destroyers, and the Automatons are now members of the Separatist Droid Army, consisting of all kinds of different droids, with AT-AT and other Empire vehicles thrown in.

It’s a pretty extensive mod, though not without its faults. There are some graphical bugs since the models aren’t 1:1 with those in Helldivers 2. However, based on the nearly 25 minutes of gameplay posted by ToastedShoes, I don’t think those graphical bugs will be much of a concern to many.

The mod has yet to be released, though, as a fair warning, when it is released, you may want to be careful as there could be a risk of being banned from Helldivers 2.

We hope that isn’t the case for anyone here, as this mod is pretty freaking awesome and makes us wish for a new cooperative Star Wars game set during the Clone Wars. At the very least, maybe something official between PlayStation and Disney can happen. One could dream, but this mod will have to do for now.

Phil Spencer Seen Preparing to Drop Nukes in Fallout 76 in Retaliation to Players Nuking His Base Due to Bethesda Layoffs

Just a few days ago, a Fallout 76 player dropped a nuke on Phil Spencer’s base in retaliation for recent decisions made at Xbox that resulted in studio closures at Bethesda. While the community lauded the player’s actions, it seems that the Xbox boss isn’t going to go down without a fight, as observant gamers have noticed Phil gearing up to drop his own payloads.

This bit of news comes from Twitter/X, where user @Mr_Rebs_ shared images of Phil Spencer’s Xbox profile with the “Officer on Deck” quest for Fallout 76 recently completed:

For context, this quest is a required step for unlocking access to the bunkers that allow you to fire nukes at the map. It’s one of the very last main quests in the game. It takes a good amount of time and effort to complete, which means that it’s likely that Phil beelined straight for it after the recent attack on his home base.

Personally, I’m a fan of seeing Phil gear up to fight back against the community. I’m pretty disappointed in his “friend of the people” facade given recent studio closures and mass layoffs. It’d be nice to see him get caught up in the rivalry of virtual nuclear warfare just to give us a glimpse at the more cutthroat side of him.

Of course, whether or not Phil ever follows through on his plans to drop the bombs remains to be seen. As this is now clearly a developing story, we’ll be sure to let our readers know what the Xbox head’s next steps are. In the meantime, if you find yourself in Phil’s server on Fallout 76, we recommend you bunker down.

Report: Marvel Rivals Crossplay Code Spotted in Closed Alpha Game Files

While NetEase hasn’t mentioned anything about Marvel Rivals being released on other platforms outside of PC, we did report on an “other platform” mention in the game’s FAQ that was quickly removed. While nothing has been confirmed still, the evidence that Marvel Rivals is coming to consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) is mounting per the game’s files that mention crossplay.

With the Marvel Rivals closed alpha test kicking off this weekend, gamers have datamined the files, and have spotted mention of crossplay functionality between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

ImageImage

As part of an update after keys went out to Steam users, NetEase tweaked the game files to support the unannounced Xbox Series X|S version. The devs also have added Microsoft Store item IDs for purchasing in-game currency alongside the PlayStation Store IDs.

While this is from a datamine and not official, don’t take this as a definitive confirmation that Marvel Rivals is coming to consoles. That said, the evidence is slowly building up to that outcome. Reliable leaker Miller even postulates that a console confirmation announcement might be in the works for Summer Game Fest happening next month.

In more official Marvel Rivals news, the latest official character reveal features Hela. Expect more characters to be featured in the coming weeks by the developers. Stay tuned here on MP1st, as we have more Marvel Rivals content hitting the site in the next few days, as the closed alpha test has no NDA (non-disclosure agreement), which means we can post impressions and more about it.

The Rogue Prince of Persia Early Access Slightly Delayed So Everyone and Their Mum Can Enjoy Hades 2

In case you missed it, Hades 2 is now officially available on PC in early access. A shadow drop that surprised many, including us, though one that also happened to catch Evil Empire, the developers behind the upcoming Prince of Persia game. So much so that they’ve made an understandable decision to delay the release just a bit later than originally planned.

Taking to X/Twitter, Evil Empire confirmed that The Rogue Prince of Persia’s early access release will now be released later than expected. However, as disappointing as that may sound, the delay isn’t all that bad. While there’s no definitive date yet, Evil Empire says that early access for The Rogue Prince of Persia will still be released this month, with an exact date coming this Monday.

As noted, the decision to “delay” the early access was made in response to Hades 2, which to many, and by Evil Empire’s own words, is considered one of 2024’s most anticipated titles. So, while the delay may be a bit of a bummer to some, for Evil Empire, it is a rather understandable reason. As mentioned, that’s still coming out this month.

So, for those who may have been conflicted about where to invest their time between these two releases, Evil Empire has given you (and your mom) more time to enjoy the former before jumping into the next Prince of Persia adventure.

Ghost of Tsushima on PC Won’t Be Released in Specific Countries Due to PSN Restrictions and Here’s the List

Following the huge controversy regarding Helldivers 2 on PC’s mandatory PlayStation Store account linking that Sony had to reverse due to massive backlash, it seems Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut on PC will have the same purchasing restrictions, though this one is known right off the bat.

As of today, a bunch of countries has been added to the purchase restriction in the game’s files per the game’s entry on SteamDB. Check out the confirmed list of countries that are technically restricted from purchasing the game due to its PSN account requirement (these countries officially isn’t supported by PSN).

Same as with Helldivers 2 where it wasn’t Arrowhead Game Studios’ call in doing this, we highly doubt Nixxes Software, the studio porting the game to PC from Sucker Punch Productions’ original work, is the one at fault here.

Ironically, one of the countries listed is Japan, which is where Ghost of Tsushima is based. Of course, there are ways to bypass this restriction, but there is the risk of your account being banned and whatnot.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will be released this May 16 on PC. While we can’t speak on the port’s technical performance, we can vouch for its gameplay. Read our review to see why yours truly said “Rejoice, samurai warriors! Ghost of Tsushima lives up to the hype and even surpasses it. This is one Ghost you’ll want to see more of soon” in my review.

Street Fighter 6 Akuma Character Guide Features the Demon’s Special Moves

While Akuma won’t enter the virtual ring in Street Fighter 6 until May 22, Capcom has pushed out a character guide where we see the upcoming fighter’s abilities in action.

Street Fighter 6 Akuma Character Guide

Check out the trailer and read on for the info.

Same as in past Street Fighter games, Akuma deals a lot of damage but at the expense of a lower vitality (life).

Special Moves:

Gou Hadouken – The speed of the projectile is determined by whether you use the light, medium or heavy button. Hold down the attack button to amplify the projectile’s power, and increase the number of hits.

Zanku Hadoken – Launch a projectile down and forward from a forward jump. The strength of the button input will determine the angle of the projectile’s path. Take heed, however, as the projectile will dissipate should you sustain a blow.

Gou Shoryuken – Leap into the air and perform a powerful uppercut. A Gou Shoryuken is invincible to an opponent’s jumping attacks, making it a great anti-air tool.

Tatsumaki Zanku-kyaku – Unleash a series of roundhouse kicks while moving foward. Useful in combos as well as for sending opponents flying away.

Aerial Tatsumaki Zanku-kyaku – A Tatsumaki Zanku-kyaku performed during a jump. Useufl to change jump trajectory or to finish up combos.

Adamant Flame – A quick thrust engulfed in flames. Useful for exploiting an opponent’s opening or in combos.

Demon Raid – A quick leap towards the opponent that allows you to transition into variouis techniques. Clever use of these techniques will help strengthen your offense.

Ashura Senku – A technique that grans the user swift movement while cloaking them in illusions. Input forward or back together with the other buttons to move in that direction.

Super Arts:

Messatsu Gohado – Fires a high-speed, concentrated ball of the Satsui no Hado forward. Has high attack power for a projectile-based Super Art.

Tenma Gozanku – Fire a powerful ki blast form the air to the ground below. Useful for finishing combos from jump attacks that can be canceled.

Empyrean’s End – Turns the Satsui no Hado into a powerful flame before piercing the opponent. Opponents are open to follow-up attacks if they reach the end of the stage after being launched.

Sip of Calamity – Knocks down an opponent with overwhelming strength before unleashing a single, devastating blow. It can be canceled into from a special move, making it particularly useful in combos.

Critical Art:

Shun Goku Satsu – A secret technique that overwhelms an opponent with myriad of attacks made in a single second. Cannot be avoided if performed at close range, while the opponent is standing on the ground. (Only becomes available at 25% health or lower.

As you can see, Akuma is still one badass; the perfect epitome of a glass cannon. Stay tuned for the title update dropping on May 22. Once we know more about it, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

In other SF6 news, Capcom announced that the game has now crossed over 3.3 million units sales since its release last year.

Sea of Thieves Update 1.301.783 Hits the Open Seas This May 10

Sea of Thieves update 1.301.783 is now out, and this brings in fixes rather than new content. Read on for the changes listed in the game’s patch notes for May 10.

Sea of Thieves Update 1.301.783 Patch Notes for May 10:

So far, Rare has listed the notes for hotfix 3.0.0.1, which isn’t dated, though we assume this is the one we got today.

Gameplay

  • Crews engaging a Megalodon should no longer find that it suddenly becomes passive and leaves the encounter. Be prepared to fight!
  • Players are no longer able to get into a state where they can rapidly throw many throwing knives faster than intended.
  • Shooting a ranged weapon at a player holding a Gunpowder Barrel should now consistently hit and detonate the barrel first, rather than sometimes hitting the player behind it.

The War Chest

  • Players firing a Bone Caller at Skeleton Ships should now progress the Skeleton Squared Commendation.

Pirate Emporium

  • The Blow Bubbles Emote has now had its price corrected from 249 to 149 Ancient Coins. Players who purchased the emote at the incorrect price will be reimbursed 100 Ancient Coins.
  • New players who have yet to purchase any Ancient Coins are no longer shown an error when attempting to acquire items marked as free in the Pirate Emporium.

Performance and Stability

  • Players on Xbox attempting to play Sea of Thieves before the full game package has been installed should no longer experience instability during play.
Hopefully, this also fixes the Kiwibeard errors as well for Xbox and PS5. If it doesn’t we’ve included the workaround for it below.

If you are receiving the Lavenderbeard error on PlayStation®5 console, please try the following:

Clear local saved data from PlayStation console and relink your Xbox Live account:

  1. Enter the consoles Settings menu
  2. Select Save Data & Game/App Settings
  3. Select Upload or Delete from Console storage
  4. Scroll across to the Delete option
  5. Highlight Sea of Thieves and select Delete
  6. IMPORTANT: Wait a few minutes before attempting the next step
  7. Reboot Sea of Thieves where you can attempt to relink your Xbox Live account once again

Please Note: If you are located in Turkey, please see the following article for further suggestions on how to solve the issue: Lavenderbeard – Players receiving this error in the Turkish region

Don’t forget, Season 12 and the launch of the PS5 version happened last week, and you can read everything new about it here.

Microsoft Opening Xbox Mobile Game Store in July

While the latest round of news out of Microsoft’s Xbox division hasn’t been a good one since it was all about closing a few studios within Bethesda, it seems the Xbox brand is expanding somewhat, as an Xbox mobile game store is opening this coming July.

This was confirmed by President of Xbox Sarah Bond in a recent interview. According to Bond, “In July, we are going to be launching our mobile store experience. We’re going to start actually by bringing our own first-party portfolio to that. So you’re going to see games like Candy Crush show up in that experience, games like Minecraft. And then we’re going to extend that capability to partners, so they can also take advantage of it and have a true cross-platform gaming-centric mobile experience.”

Bond adds that they will start on the web, as this will allow the company to have it accessible on all countries independent of policies of closed ecosystem stores, and after which, they will extend from there.

Given how strong a foothold Apple and Google’s mobile stores have on consumers, it’ll be interesting to see if Microsoft’s Xbox mobile store can somehow pry some of that away for their own slice of the pie.

Are you willing to give Xbox’s own mobile storefront a try when it launches this July? Sound off and lets u know.

Star Wars Outlaws Wanted Levels Can Be Cleared by Defeating Death Troopers; You Can Piss Off All Syndicates to Make Game Harder

In case you didn’t know, Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars Outlaws features a “wanted” level much like Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto games. However, unlike the GTA games, cops won’t be chasing you in Outlaws, but the Empire.

Just like in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, your wanted level in Star Wars Outlaws goes up as well, and Empire enemies pursuing you will hike up in terms of difficulty. However, there is a way to clear your wanted level in a planet. In a video interview, Massive Entertainment Lead Systems Designer Matthieu Delisle explains that if you reach the maximum wanted level in the game, you can expect Death Troopers to be called in to take out Kay Vess, but if you manage to defeat them, you’ll be able to clear your wanted level. This is not an easy task, as Delisle states that this is one of the top challenges in the game.

If that’s not hard enough for you, there’s even a way to make the game more challenging. In Star Wars Outlaws, there are four syndicates that Kay can align herself with or make enemies of. Apparently, you can piss off all four syndicates, which means each one will have a contract up for Kay’s head. Imagine that: you have the Empire pursuing you and all syndicates also hunting you down.

Massive Entertainment Senior Narrative System Designer Alice Rendell adds that players would have to actively try and “annoy” everybody (every syndicate) all at the same time to get to that point (where each one is hunting you down). Mind, I fully expect someone to do this just for the fun of it.

Star Wars Outlaws is set for release this August 30, 2024 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

DayZ New Expansion “Frostline” Announced for Q4 2024, Key Features Revealed

While Bohemia Interactive has already announced that the previously premium Livonia DLC for DayZ will merge with the base game for free once patch 1.25 drops, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing for gamers to look forward to in terms of new content. On the contrary, the studio today revealed DayZ’s new expansion called “Frostline.”

Set to be released this Q4 2024, Frostline will introduce a brand new location called the “Sakhal archipelago,” which will introduce new survival challenges spread over 83km² of volcanic land, icy seas and treacherous terrains. Per Bohemia, the “centerpiece” of the premium DLC is the Sakhal terrain with its rugged reaches, and unlike previous locations, gamers will play as a survivor seeking refuge in the supposed safe haven of Sakhal. Bohemia mentions the new location “promises beauty at every perilous turn, with frozen lakes, snow-draped forests, and frosty peaks.”

Key Features of Frostline expansion:

  • New Terrain: Discover an untouched archipelago where time stands still.
  • Winter Landscape: Experience a late winter setting.
  • Harsher Survival: Manage warmth and hunt for sustenance.
  • Environmental Hazards: Discover the hazards of living near volcanic areas.
  • Richer Wilderness: Meet new wildlife species that have adapted to the cold.
  • New Gameplay Mechanics: Take on new diseases and an enhanced fishing mechanic.
  • Winter Cosmetics: Dress for the season with winter-themed cosmetics

There’s even volcanic regions that will be available, which will double the threats players will face. While the terrain might be more compact compared to previous locations, Bohemia notes that each new challenge in the DLC will deliberatly decelerate your progress, which will compel survivors to recalibrate the way they play.

Expect winter-themed cosmetics, new region-specific wildlife acclimated to the cold and more. While there’s no specific release date just yet, we’re expecting more info about Frostline will be revealed in the coming weeks and months.

Marvel Snap Balance Update for May 9 Patch Notes

Developer Second Dinner has pushed out the Marvel Snap balance update for May 9, and this brings a host of changes to hero abilities. Read on for the complete patch notes per the developer.

Marvel Snap Balance Update for May 9 Patch Notes:

This week’s OTA update features a handful of small tweaks to Power, with more sizable buffs to a pair of baddies from the Age of Ultron.

  • Lady Deathstrike
    • [Old]

5/7 – On Reveal: Destroy each card here with 3 or less Power.

    • [Change]

      5/7 -> 5/6

We’re happy that the latest update to Lady Deathstrike created space for this card in the metagame. However, its performance indicates we overshot that mark by just a hair. Deathstrike has become one of the best cards in the game for the last few weeks, and even the top performer in some Annihilus shells–that’s right, over Annihilus himself! Given we’re seeing those decks overperform a little bit, we’re addressing both issues by taking away a little Power here.

  • Darkhawk
    • [Old]

5/4 – Ongoing: +2 Power for each card in your opponent’s deck.

    • [Change]

      5/4 -> 5/3

It may sound surprising, but Darkhawk has continued to soar after moving to 5-Cost. In fact, it’s spent the majority of the time since as one of the highest winrate cards in the game–often the highest! We’ve given it a few weeks to see if the metagame would demonstrate the kind of healthy churn we like to see, but after little to no change on this count we’re taking action. We want Darkhawk to continue playing an important part in the metagame, but there’s a delicate balance to preserve around having too many Rocks.

  • Leech
    • [Old]

5/3 – On Reveal: Remove the text from cards with On Reveal abilities in your opponent’s hand.

    • [Change]

      5/3 -> 4/2

It’s been a while since Leech terrorized the SNAP ladder. Shifting it to only affect On Reveals solved the frustration Leech created, but at 5/3 the stats have been too weak to compete with other 5-Cost cards, even with this effect. In particular, Hela’s new access to Energy gain has meant a 5-Cost Leech can’t always stop the big resurrection plan. At 4/2, Leech can more effectively address popular threats like Hela, Annihilus, Jane Foster, and Cannonball. Besides, we can’t help but root for our favorite Morlock after seeing that brave face on

X-Men ’97

.

  • Psylocke
    • [Old]

2/1 – On Reveal: Next turn, you get +1 Energy.

    • [Change]

      2/1 -> 2/2

We previously nerfed Psylocke to 2/1 when Thanos was overperforming, as Psylocke was contributing a lot to the Mad Titan’s win percentage. Now that Thanos has settled into a healthier position, and with some future adjustments to come, it’s appropriate to revert Psylocke back to 2 Power.

  • Sauron
    • [Old]

3/2 – On Reveal: Remove the abilities from all Ongoing cards in your hand and deck.

    • [Change]

      3/2 -> 3/3

Similar to Psylocke, we weakened Sauron a touch during an era of specific overperformance. Given the era has passed, we’re returning that Power now.

  • Klaw
    • [Old]

5/4 – Ongoing: The location to the right has +6 Power.

    • [New]

5/4 – Ongoing: The location to the right has +8 Power.

It’s been exciting to see Ongoing-based decks claiming their due at the upper ranks over the last week. One card that has continued to suffer in an awkward “in-between” spot is Klaw, as a 5-Cost card that’s fairly restrictive. Because Klaw has a novel restriction and gameplay reward, we’re adding Power to the Ongoing effect to further emphasize those unique elements.

  • Ultron
    • [Old]

6/8 – On Reveal: Deploy four 1-Power Drones to each other location.

  • Drone
    • [Change]

      1/1 -> 1/2

A metagame threat in the early days, Ultron’s gotten weaker as decks increased their focus on filling each location and more efficiently concentrating Power. The Drones already have predators in the metagame thanks to Killmonger and Lady Deathstrike, and Ultron himself is quite vulnerable to Cannonball. This is a lot of Power to add to Ultron, so we might need to come back and take some away from Ultron himself, but we decided not to do so preemptively in case it wasn’t necessary. We’d rather see Ultron make a splash once more than continue to flounder. — That’s all for this week. Until next time, happy snapping!

That’s about it. While there’s no new content, this balance update should be something the player base will embrace given the adjustments.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Cost WB Games $200 Million, CEO Calls Game “Disappointing”

In a quarterly earnings report from Warner Bros. conducted this morning, the company shared that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League cost them a whopping $200 million since launch. Additionally, both Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels had less than positive things to say about the game.

The quarterly earnings report, which was shared this morning, outlines the year-over-year decline of Warner’s revenue. Much of it was attributed to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s poor performance and overwhelmingly negative reception. When discussing the company’s financials, CFO Wiedenfels had this to say:

“Starting with Studios, the $400 million-plus year-over-year decline during Q1 was primarily due to the very tough comp we faced in games against the success of Hogwarts Legacy last year in the first quarter, in conjunction with the disappointing Suicide Squad release this past quarter, which we impaired, leading to a $200 million impact to EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization] during the first quarter.”

CEO David Zaslav also referred to the launch of Suicide Squad as “disappointing,” echoing a very popular sentiment amongst the player base itself. It’s not necessarily surprising to hear the executives be up-front about their game’s performance, but it really hammers home just how much we were all let down by Rocksteady’s latest outing.

As always, we hope that the team will be able to turn the game around in future seasons, but the framework is probably just not good enough to redeem it. Hopefully in the future Rocksteady gets the chance to work on a much better title and return to their former glory—though given the current climate of layoffs and closures, we’re a little worried for them.

Not a bad patch for a game released close to five years ago. Will we see more Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night collabs in the future? We wouldn’t bet against it.
