Battlefield 2042 Season 6 Launches October 2023, “Redux” Brings Back Fan Fave Modes and More

As promised from yesterday’s announcement, DICE has announced what’s next for Battlefield 2042, and not only did we get confirmation that Battlefield 2042 Season 6 will kick off this October, but the studio also unveiled “Battlefield 2042 Redux.”

For BF 2042 Season 6, players can expect a new map, and that’s pretty much all the info released so far. While we’re waiting for Season 6 to start, DICE has announced Battlefield 2042 Redux, which will let players revisit fan fave modes where new rewards await.

Battlefield 2042 Redux Overview

DICE will bring back new ways to play fan favorite modes and maps, as well as making new and returning weekly rewards available for players to earn starting this August 29.

This includes modes such as Rush Chaos XL, Tactical Conquest, Breakthrough Chaos to Conquest Assault, Shutdown and more. Mid-season in-game events such as The Liquidators, Battle of Nordvik, Leviathan Rising Limited Time events and modes will also be back for a limited time.

The studio says they have listened to feedback, so expect refined modes every week, on more maps and with new player counts.

Earning Rewards in BF 2042 Redux:

During Redux, players will have a dedicated progression track where you’ll be able to earn Ribbons to unlock rewards, just like from our seasonal Limited Time Events. However, earning Ribbons are now easier and faster.

You can now earn Ribbons to unlock rewards through all official game modes in both All-Out Warfare and Battlefield Portal. That means during Redux you can play your official mode of choice and always progress towards earning rewards.

The rewards range from entirely new content such as character, vehicle and weapon skins, to previous Store content that now becomes earnable. We also have several Double XP weekends lined up to help speed up your progress!

Here are some of the example new rewards:

  • The Steady Drill skin for the AK-24
  • Vigilante cosmetic skin for Charlie Crawford
  • Cybergeddon outfit for Dozer
  • The Cataclysm skin for the PBX-45
  • Hijacker weapon charm
  • And more!

BF 2042 Redux Community Calendar:

You can read up on the previously released modes that are coming back right here.

Finally, DICE also confirmed that a small quality of life update will be released during Redux, which will include changes such as balance adjustments for Engineers and a new Codex feature for those who love to learn more about the lore of Battlefield 2042.

The studio will share more details about the update notes later this month, with Season 6 info shared in October.

Hopefully, the latest game update released today and what’s coming later this month for Redux will be enough to satiate players until Season 6’s launch in October.

Remnant 2 Update 1.000.008 for August 15 Addresses Trophies, Balance and More

Remnant 2 update 1.000.008 (Xbox build 1.0.0.11) has been released by Gunfire Games on consoles today, and it addresses issues related to Trophies/Achievements, as well as a big balance pass and more. Read on for the complete Remnant 2 new update patch notes for August 15.

Update: Gunfire has released a new patch for consoles this August 18, and you can read the official patch notes here.

Remnant 2 Update 1.000.008 Patch Notes | Remnant 2 Update 1.0.0.11 Patch Notes | Remnant 2 Patch Notes for August 15:

Size: 2.4GB (PS5)

–Performance and Crashes–

  • Ongoing optimizations to improve overall performance.
  • Fixed multiple reported crash bugs.

–Achievements & Difficulty Rewards–

  • Retroactively fixed several trophies that weren’t tracked correctly.
  • Retroactively fixed as many difficulty-based rewards as possible.

DEV NOTE: To unlock difficulty rewards and trophies, you must interact with the World Stone.

–Quality of Life–

  • Added all unlocked Archetypes to Wallace’s inventory. If players have unlocked any Secret Archetype (by converting a Mysterious Item into an Engram), he will then sell them for all future characters. If you can start with it, Wallace will sell it.
  • Reduced the requirement to obtain Revivalist Trait. Also included Very Good Boy.
  • Updated Nimue, Bedel (Old Vaunnt), and N’Erud Vending Machine, and Blood Altar to properly keep their items in stock.
  • Fixed the Damage Reduction calculation in Advanced Stats. While this was a bug, we still wanted to make sure it was at the top of the list because it was giving players incorrect info.
  • Reduced Multiplayer Scaling per player by an additional 5% (from 15% to 10%). This means that in 3 player COOP, all players will now take 10% less damage (5% less per player).
  • Increased the chance that Cass spawns her special rewards.
  • Increased invulnerability time on standard Revive by 0.7s to give players a bit more time to react after being revived.
  • Experience gained is shared across any distance in multiplayer (previously 40m max range) and to dead teammates.

–Balance–

[ General ]

  • Reduced Vicious enemy affix from 33% to 15%.
  • Reduced Spiteful enemy affix from 0-45% to 0-25%. This is based on current enemy Health.
  • Reduced Thick Skin enemy affix from -15% Critical Chance & -25% Critical Damage to -10% and 15%, respectively.
  • Reduced Hearty enemy affix from 25% Max HP to 15% Max HP.
  • Increased Bulwark Damage Reduction from 6,5,4,3,2% (20% MAX) to 7,6,5,4,3% (25% MAX).

[ Armor ]

ARMOR OVERVIEW: We made a few tweaks to various armor types to give them unique benefits that were applicable for all difficulties. We felt that the baseline Heavy Armor values (at approximately 35% Damage Reduction) were in a good spot, especially with our recent changes to certain enemy affixes, so we adjusted the other armors to bring them up to par in their own way. Armor-based Damage Reduction is typically the easiest type of DR to get in the game, and due to its importance at higher levels, the lower-value armors were becoming less than desirable.

  • Adjusted Light Armor Damage Reduction Value from approximately 15% to 25%.
  • Adjusted Medium Armor Damage Reduction Value from approximately 25% to 30%.
  • Adjusted Ultra Heavy Armor Damage Reduction Value from approximately 45% to 50%.
  • Increased Light Armor Evade Invulnerability by 2 frames.
  • Increased Medium Armor Evade Invulnerability by 1 frame.
  • Increased Ultra Heavy Neutral Evade Invulnerability by 1 frame.

Armor Evade Value and Stamina Penalty Reference:

  • Light Evade (25 Encumbrance or Lower): 12 iFrames, 0% Stamina Cost Penalty.
  • Medium Evade (26-50 Encumbrance): 11 iFrames, 25% Stamina Cost Penalty.
  • Heavy Evade (51-75 Encumbrance): 10 iFrames, 50% Stamina Cost Penalty.
  • Ultra Heavy (76+ Encumbrance): 15 iFrames (Flop), 75% Stamina Cost Penalty.

DEV NOTE: No changes were made to Stamina Cost Penalty. These are original values. Additionally, Heavy Evade and Ultra Heavy Flop have their original iFrame value as well. The only changes regarding iFrames were to the two lighter Weight Classes.

[ Archetypes ]

  • Handler Companion and Summoner Minions gain increased health per difficulty. On Apocalypse, they will have the highest base health.
  • Increased Challenger’s Intimidating Presence Range from 10m to 15m.

[ Gear / Items ]

  • Increased Restriction Cord Damage Reduction from 10% to 15%.
  • Increased Guardian’s Ring range from 10m to 15m.
  • Enabled Mist Step Neutral Backdash attack.

[ Enemies ]

  • Adjusted downtime and overall combat flow for Annihilation.
  • Adjusted Annihilation Mine behavior on Survivor difficulty.

–Bug Fixes—

[ Progression & Rewards ]

  • Progression Blocker: Cass no longer wanders out of town, making her store inaccessible.
  • Progression Blocker: Ward 13 NPCs no longer “Lose their memory” after rolling adventure mode.
  • Progression Blocker: Fixed an issue where Annihilation would be stuck between first and second phase of fight due an improper Plasma Cutter interaction.

  • Progression Blocker: Fixed an issue in Sentinel’s Keep that would cause the player to become stuck inside door.
  • Progression Blocker: Fixed issue where Liquid Escape could be lost.

[ Archetypes ]

  • Fixed issue with Summoner’s Minions targeting pigs in Losomn. Pigs are no longer valid targets for Minions.
  • Fixed issue with Handler’s Very Good Boy not waking the sleeping Huntress when attacking.
  • Fixed Medic’s Redemption cooldown for clients.
  • Engineer kills via Turret now grant Experience.
  • Removed Controller Rumble when Summoner Minions move near the player.

  • Fixed an issue with Aphelion causing it to do drastically reduced damage.
  • Fixed various issues with Restriction Cord causing issues like UI weirdness, memory leaks, and player getting stuck in World Stone as a client.
  • Fixed Death’s Embrace effects remaining after exiting to main menu and returning to game.
  • Fixed Spore Shot Mod’s slow effects lasting indefinitely.
  • Fixed Enigma’s Chain Lightning chaining through walls and floors.
  • Fixed Enigma ignoring enemy’s resistance. The Overload explosion still ignores resist.
  • Fixed Dark Fluid buff values being inconsistent for clients.
  • Fixed Faerie Needle buff icon displaying values incorrectly for clients.
  • Fixed Bulletweaver buff icon displaying values incorrectly for clients.
  • Fixed issue with Dran Scavenger Ring not correctly working for clients.
  • Fixed Energized Neck Coil so as to not trigger from ally status applications.
  • Fixed issue where consuming Processed Koara while its effect was already active was not resetting timer.

DEV NOTE: Seriously though… you know what this is, right?

  • Fixed issue where consuming Ambit Ember while its effect was already active was not resetting timer.
  • Fixed issue where Eulogy Mod was damaging player when activated too close to enemies. Also, returning bolts no longer damage allies.

  • Fixed various out of world or stuck location in Losomn Dran city.
  • Fixed text getting cut off on 16:10 ratio resolutions as well as other non 16:9 based resolutions.
  • Fixed issue where Huntress Boss Music volume was not controllable by Music slider in settings menu.
  • Fixed issue where Jester cards were not correctly showing up for clients.
  • Fixed issue with wearing the Ravager Sigil when speaking to Bedel would cause enemies to no longer attack player.

Remnant 2 Xbox Series X|S Patch Notes for August 15:

–Performance and Crashes–

  • Initial optimizations to improve overall performance.
  • Updates to improve hitching and potential crashes.
  • Fixed multiple reported crash bugs.

–Quality of Life–

QOL OVERVIEW: While we still have quite a few things we are working on regarding Traits and long-term grinding (for those that wish to partake), we wanted to make a few changes in this patch to ensure players had more freedom to experiment. Players should find it much easier to Respec and they should also end up with more Scrap overall. We aren’t done here by any means, and these are not the larger changes we’ve mentioned on Discord and Reddit, but in the short term, they should help to ease the burden or reconfiguring your build and experimenting with different options.

  • Increased Trait Cap by +5.
  • Tome of Knowledge now grants Scrap and EXP when the player has reached Trait Cap.
  • Orb of Undoing now has unlimited uses. Players can sell any extras for Scrap.
  • Removed the Trait Requirement for equipping a second Archetype. Players may now slot their second Archetype as soon as they obtain / convert another Engram at Wallace.
  • Removed the Scrap Cost for converting a Mysterious Item into an Engram (1000 to 0).
  • Lowered the Lumenite Cost for converting a Mysterious Item into an Engram (10 to 5).
  • Slightly Increased Scrap Gain from Breakables.
  • Increased Scrap Gain from Regular and Rare Chests.
  • Increased Scrap Gain when killing Aberrations.
  • Reduced the cost of Bloodroot.

–Balance–

[ Archetypes ]

Explorer Archetype

  • Increased the duration of Explorer’s Scavenger Buff per pickup from 15s to 20s.
  • Increased the duration of Explorer’s Gold Digger Buffs from 15s to 20s.
  • Increased the healing amount of Gold Digger Healing Fountain from 1.5 to 2.0 HP per second.

DEV NOTE: We wanted to make sure Explorer could maintain Scavenger longer between fights and give them more freedom while Gold Digger Fountains were active. We increased the durations by 5s each and boosted the Healing Fountain to be more enticing.

Archon Archetype

  • Increased Archon Havoc Form Lighting Hands damage from 28 to 56.
  • Increased Archon Havoc Form Blink damage from 100 to 150.
  • Reduced Archon Havoc Form Cooldown from 120s to 90s.

DEV NOTE: These changes are in response to bug fix that allowed Havoc Form Lighting Hands to deal ridiculous damage. We made some overall adjustments to compensate.

Challenger Archetype

  • Adjusted the damage falloff for Challenger’s Close Quarters perk. At maximum range, Challenger will always maintain a 10% damage bonus to All Damage.

Handler Archetype

  • Increased the Handler’s Pack Hunter Range from 25m to 40m.
  • Increased the Base Max Health of Handler’s Very Good Boy Companion.

Summoner Archetype

  • Increased the Base Max Health of Summoner’s Hollow and Flyer Variants.

[ Weapons ]

  • Switched Aphelion scaling to Boss/Special Damage Scaling instead of Standard.
  • Increased the Fire Damage for Shatterstar (Savior Mod).
  • Reduced the Fire Rate on Nightfall in Standard and Dreadwalker Fire Modes.

DEV NOTE: Nightfall was dealing far more damage than other weapons in both modes (almost 20% more w/ Dreadwalker active compared to other guns with their Mod active). When considering damage and the Mod ability (harder to hit, life siphon, and fire rate), it was pushing Nightfall too far above every other Long Gun. It now sits closer in line with other high-damage weapons.

  • Reduced the AOE Burst Damage of Enigma’s Overload Application from 40 to 30.
  • Reduced the Subsequent Tether Damage of Enigma Primary Fire from 75% to 65%.
  • Reduced the Magazine Capacity of Enigma from 30 to 25.
  • Increased the total Reserve Capacity of Enigma from 120 to 125.

DEV NOTE: Enigma was performing too far above our goal for AOE clear, so a few adjustments were made. There is still an issue with it ignoring Armor which will be addressed in the future. However, when that happens, we will reevaluate the numbers.

[ Enemies ]

  • Reduced damage on Nightweaver’s grab attacks (Wall and Lunge).
  • Adjusted the hitbox of Magister Dullain’s tongue attack to better match the visuals.

[ Multiplayer ]

  • Reduced incoming damage in Multiplayer from 25% per additional player to 15% per player.

–Bug Fixes–

[ Progression & Rewards ]

  • Fixed multiple reported crash bugs and instability issues.
  • Progression Blocker: Fixed an issue that prevented players from completing tutorial if a crash happened when interacting with Ford.
  • Progression Blocker: Fixed infinite loading screen issue present for some players when selecting “Skip Tutorial” on character creation screen.
  • Progression Blocker: Fixed an issue with Plasma Cutter preventing the Final Boss from transitioning into its second phase.
  • Progression Blocker: Fixed Tal’Ratha boss fight lockout if game was exited during cutscene dialogue.
  • Progression Blocker: Fixed the Astropath boss fight failing start if game was exited during cutscenes.
  • Addressed issue with Trait points going negative. Negative Trait points have been flipped to positive. This will also fix issues with the Second Archetype being locked out.
  • Addressed issue player’s not receiving trophies in multiplayer games.

DEV NOTE: This will not retroactively reward ones that should have been previously unlocked. In future patches we will look into attempting to retroactively award as many as we can, however some will likely not be able to be awarded this way and will need to be reacquired.

  • Players who completed Oracle’s quilt will now receive Half Quilt award as well as Full Quit Reward if they had not previously received it.
  • Fixed an issue where scripted deaths from the Bone Harvester, Empress Guards, and Red Prince caused actual deaths and ended Hardcore runs.
  • Fixed an issue with Weapons not unlocking after Hardcore playthrough.

DEV NOTE: Unfortunately, hardcore awards will not be retroactively awarded for previous completions of Hardcore mode.

  • Fixed an issue with Weapons not unlocking after completing playthroughs at different difficulties.

DEV NOTE: Unfortunately, difficulty-based rewards will not be retroactively awarded for previous completions of the game.

  • Players who listened to all Mudtooth’s stories but did not receive all of the rewards can visit Mudtooth to receive their rewards. Players who did not receive the Iron Cylinder (Gunslinger’s Engram) from listening to all his stories will now find it in his store.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Explorer and Archon Armor from appearing on the vendor. Players will need to first convert the appropriate Mysterious Item into an Engram at Wally
  • Fixed an issue preventing Mudtooth’s Elixir from appearing in his inventory. After completing the game, players will need to first unlock Explorer (Golden Compass) at Wallace.
  • Fixed issues where Clementine would stand in random locations in Ward 13 after the cutscene in Blackened Citadel.
  • Fix for trophy when meeting the Flautist if co-op player was spectating at the time where the Flautist was met.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Revivalist Trait from being awarded. It should now be rewarded after reviving another player 15x.

[ Archetypes ]

  • Fixed an issue with Archon’s Havoc Form Lighting Hands. Casting Speed now properly ramps up the Lighting Hand without going infinite.
  • Fixed an issue causing Hunter’s Focus not granting the proper Weakspot Damage Bonus
  • Fixed an issue causing Hunter’s Shroud granting multiplicative damage bonus
  • Fixed an issue causing Invader Perk S.H.A.R.K. to not apply its damage bonuses
  • Fixed an issue with Gunslinger’s Bulletstorm Sound not terminating.
  • Fixed a bug allowing Male Engineer to ignore falling transition when Overclocking.

[ Gear / Items ]

  • Fixed VFX alignment for Nebula and Hellfire primary fire.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Plasma Cutter from dealing the correct damage type to certain enemies.
  • Fixed an issue causing Shieldbreaker Mutator to not grant the correct amount of shield.
  • Nightfall Mod visual effects terminate correctly now.
  • Fixed an issue allowing Dreamcatcher to trigger Dreamwave before it was properly earned.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed Crystal Heart from stacking with itself.

Tekken 6 and SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny Rated for PS5 and PS4

The Taiwanese Game Rating Board has rated two classic titles, namely Tekken 6 and SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny for the PS4 and PS5. It seems like titles are going to be added to the growing catalog of PS Plus Premium as part of the Classic titles in the near future.

SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny features Kratos as a playable character and was exclusive to the PSP, but it seems like it will be making its way to the PS4 and PS5, meanwhile Tekken 6 was previously available on the PS3. This wouldn’t be the first time a game rating board has leaked a title, as most recently, an enhanced or remastered version of Quake 2 was revealed earlier by the South Korea Game Rating and Admission Committee.

Sony has been strengthening its subscription service by adding heavy hitters to the monthly game catalog in order to compete with Xbox Game Pass. The investment into classic games also makes sense as Game Pass offers an array of Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles.

Report: Rainbow Six Siege to Introduce Master Chief as Sledge Elite Skin

According to a new leak, it seems like Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will introduce Master Chief, the protagonist from Xbox’s Halo series, as an elite skin for the operator Sledge. Ubisoft has already partnered up with other major gaming franchises including its own Assassin’s Creed, Yakuza, Nier, and Resident Evil for elite operator skins in Rainbow Six Siege.

The leak came via Klobrille on Twitter soon after the Rainbow Six Siege showcase for Year 8 Season 3 Heavy Mettle took place. You can check it out below:

Ubisoft has yet to officially announce the Halo Infinite Master Chief skin for Siege, and it will be interesting to see if the skin is exclusive to PC and Xbox or if it will make its way across all platforms. It’s safe to assume that Master Chief will join Rainbow Six Siege when Year 8 Season 3 Heavy Mettle kicks off later this month on August 29. You can find the designer notes for the upcoming season right here.

However, whether or not this very convincing leak is legitimate remains to be seen, and we should be learning more soon enough now that the new season is right around the corner.

Update: Issues regarding the orbit problem has been resolved.

The studio has made the announcement on Twitter that they are investigating the matter:

Reliable site downdetector has also seen an uptick of reports from players recently regarding the outage too.

In addition to the issues, there is Destiny 2 background maintenance on-going now, though it shouldn’t affect the servers as there is no downtime expect from it.

Same as always, once there’s an update on what’s happening, we’ll update the article to reflect it. Chances are, this won’t take long, and guardians will be able to jump back in and slay some mobs soon. Lords of the Fallen Multiplayer Co-Op and PvP: Devs Explain How It Works

In case you didn’t know, HexWorks’ upcoming Lords of the Fallen reboot will feature multiplayer in the form of both co-op and PvP (player vs. player). If you’re wondering how Lords of the Fallen multiplayer works, read on for the explanation by the devs.

In an interview with MP1st, we asked HexWorks head of studio Saul Gascon and Creative Director Cezar Virtosu about the game’s multiplayer.

How Lords of the Fallen Multiplayer Works:

MP1st: From our understanding, it will feature co-op, right? Is this drop-in, drop-out co-op at any time in the campaign? Or is it a standalone portion of the game?

The co-op is seamless drop-in, drop-out at any time in the campaign, as you said. One can invite a friend directly into the game from any of our in-game checkpoints (called Vestiges) or beckon a random player. Two players only, the host and the guest. The host is in control of the world state, be that Axiom/Umbral, mechanisms or NPC interactions, while the Guest can only pick up whatever loot drops, keep their accrued vigor, can level up at the vestiges, and interact with vendors, but cannot engage in quests and dialogue options with said vendors. When the guest dies in Axiom, the host can freely resurrect them on the spot by interacting with an effigy that is spawned upon their death. This is a lengthy interaction, and as such, the decision to resurrect that guest is a tactical one. Otherwise, both players respawn at the last visited Vestige, crafted or otherwise.

MP1st: How does the PvP part of the game work? Can players invade another player’s game, or is it a more controlled environment?

Invasions take place everywhere in the world, and we have PVP-designated areas sprinkled throughout. The invader arrives relatively close to the Host to facilitate quick engagements. The invader has only one life, and if killed, they won’t resurrect in Umbral, only the host controls that realm. Which means that if the invader is standing on an Umbral only structure and the Host happens to be next to an Effigy of Emergence and switches the realm back to Axiom, said invader will swiftly go on a date with gravity.

Would you want to play Lords of the Fallen with co-op enabled or just solo the main campaign? We have more info about the game in our full interview hitting the site soon.

Diablo 4 Player Trading Suspended Due to Gold and Item Duplication Exploit (Update)

If you’re wondering why you suddenly can’t engage in trades in Diablo 4, it’s not just you. Blizzard has announced that Diablo 4 player trading has been suspended until further notice, and it’s due to an on-going exploit.

This announcement was made on the Blizzard forums, where an official statement was made that specifically mentioned that the gold and item duplication exploit is the main reason for this feature to be stopped in its tracks for the time being.

We’ve suspended player trading in Diablo IV until further notice due to a gold and item duplication exploit. We are working on a fix to amend this issue and will update you once we’ve reinstated the ability to trade. Once that is done, we will continue to monitor this activity to ensure a healthy playing experience for all. As always, any account that engages in gold and item duplication exploits will be actioned in accordance with our End User License Agreement.

We thank you for reporting this exploit to us and your patience.

No word yet on when we’ll see it reinstated, but chances are, it won’t take long and it will most likely be patched via server update. If the devs release a new update (be it client-side or via servers), we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Speaking of patches, you can keep track of every game update released by bookmarking our Diablo 4 game hub.

Update (August 15): Blizzard has re-enabled trading after a backend fix was issued to address the exploit (per PezRadar)

Rainbow Six Siege Y8S3 Designer Notes Revealed

Just yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled the details and new content incoming in Rainbow Six Siege Y8S3! Today, the studio revealed more details surrounding the patch, as the Rainbow Six Siege Y8S3 Designer Notes have been revealed!

Rainbow Six Siege Y8S3 Designer Notes:

MESSAGE FROM THE TEAM

We’ve been observing both Iana and Warden’s continuous ascent to the top tiers of presence in matches. We are aware of the situation and the issues behind it.
Iana’s high presence is mainly driven by her access to Frag Grenades, while Warden’s high presence relates to the strength of 1.5x sights on Defender loadouts. The Community’s sentiments over this topic are in alignment with ours. These operators need changes, and we will take action in an upcoming mid-season patch to make sure they feel less like “must picks” and more like weighted choices within a squad’s lineup.

This mid-season patch adjustment is aimed at allowing more operator diversity in matches in the short term, but we are working in parallel on a bigger solution that will attend the balance situation of Frag Grenades and the 1.5x sight within Siege. Both elements are widespread through our lineup of operators, and we know that shuffling them around is not a sustainable solution, that is why we are taking the time to polish a more substantial set of changes that should open up more balancing options allowing us to make less “binary” changes in the future.

OPERATOR BALANCING

CLUSTER CHARGE

  • Can be deployed on Deployable Shields and Talon Shields

Now that Fuze can deploy the Cluster Charge on reinforcements, we will also allow him to do it on Deployable shields and Talon Shields. It is a small change but will create a new synergy between Fuze and Osa, allowing the use of his charges in places that weren’t possible before. Though there is a cost. As with any other bulletproof glass, the Cluster Charge will shatter the shields when the drilling is successful.

ARGUS CAMERA
  • Can pierce through Deployable Shields and Talon Shields.

This change won’t have a huge impact on matches, but it will bring consistency to the rules of piercing, if the gadget can get through reinforcements, it should also be capable of piercing Deployable and Talon Shields. Since the piercing action of the Argus Camera cannot shatter Mira’s Black Mirror, then the same rule applies to shields, so they won’t shatter either.

KAWAN HIVE LAUNCHER
  • Switch Ability Mode to Sticky (default) or Bouncy

One of the main weaknesses of Grim is the need to have line of sight with the location you want to activate the Hive in. With this update, we are introducing a new firing mode to address this. From now on, Grim can select if the projectile will stick or bounce after touching a surface. This adds to all the changes done in the previous season and will help you to apply the effect on your target.

BASE STATS
  • Gadget refill timer Reduced to 20 seconds (from 30)
  • Max resources Increased to 9 mines (from 8)
GU MINE
  • Gadget type is now Mechanical (unaffected by EMPs)
  • Initial damage Increased to 5hp (from 0)
  • Poison damage Increased to 12hp (from 8)
  • Poison timer Reduced to 2 seconds (from 2.5)
  • Cloaking removed
  • HUD Icon removed
  • Stepping on a GU Mine while being affected by another will reset the Poison timer and deal the Poison damage instantly.
  • Added Area of Effect feedback
LOADOUT

Added Super Shorty as a secondary weapon option

Dying because of something invisible is a source of frustration and is why we removed the initial damage from the GU mine at the beginning of Year 5. But this change also removed a situation we’ve been trying to recover for some time: the fear of stepping on multiple mines in a row.

We have reintroduced the initial damage and made stepping on multiple mines a bit spicier. If you are already poisoned by a GU mine and trigger another, you will receive the initial damage and an instant tick of poison damage from the one already on your foot, so you will need to be more careful. These 2 changes turn the mines into a threat again. We are also tweaking some extra values, like the poison damage and the timer, to make removing the nail more urgent.

Because of these changes we have decided to remove the cloaking completely, making GU mines always visible. This should eliminate the frustration and increase the skill ceiling, as you will need to look for good locations to place your mines. This also removes the only electronic part of the device, so IQ won’t be able to detect them, and Brava won’t be able to hack them.

GADGET BALANCING

BASE STATS

  • Bulletproof Glass: Hitting the shield with a melee will shatter the glass windows.

We have taken the opportunity to update the Shattered Glass System for Deployable Shields along with the changes to Fuze. If the shield receives a melee hit, the glass of the windows will be shattered.

WEAPON BALANCING

BASE STATS

  • Every shotgun excluding the BOSG 12, TCSG12 and ACS12 have had the following changes.
  • Ranges are normalized into 3 stages.
  • 0-5 meters, each pellet deals 100% of the base damage
  • 6-10 meters , each pellet deals 75% of the base damage
  • 13 meters and above, each pellet deals 45% of the base damage
  • Headshot modifier: A pellet getting the headshot modifier deals 1.5x the damage after its range modifier.
  • Hip fire spread has been revisited and redistributed across the board.
  • Shooting while aiming down sight results in a tighter spread across the board. Note that this effect is not new, just being increased to reward players when aiming down sights.
  • Moving increases the spread.

This is a big pass on every classical shotgun in the game. With these changes we are adding consistency and something you can learn. Ranges are normalized and based on the average kill distance in the game as well as the m590A1, which we know is a favorite at this time. The goal here is to reward good practices such as aiming for the head or holding angles. These changes are aimed at making shotguns less spray and pray, and more worthy as an option without removing what is currently working.

PLAYLIST ECOSYSTEM UPDATE

As announced during the year 8 reveal, we started to look at how we could change Quick Match to make it much more… well “Quick.” We realized that we needed to make tweaks to other playlists for this new Quick Match to fit.

BASE CHANGES
  • Action phase reduced to 165s (from 180).
  • Operator pick phase duration reduced to 20s (from 30). Additionally, if the round did not involve a role swap, the operator pick phase is reduced to 15s.
  • Preparation phase reduced to 30s (from 45).
  • Objective locations are automatically revealed for attackers at the start of the round.
  • Clearance Level availability increased to CL 10
  • We have made some tweaks to the matchmaking algorithm for Quick Match to find matches quicker.
  • We will be applying a soft reset to the casual skill level algorithm to bring everyone closer together, which should result in finding matches even faster.

We are also taking this chance to implement 2 new concepts to the Quick Match playlist:
Pre-Setups and the Attacker Safeguard

PRE-SETUPS

For every map in the map pool, we have designed 2 sets of pre-setups for every bombsite (this new feature is bomb exclusive) which include a number of pre-deployed reinforcements on the map as well as pre-placed rotations and holes.
These new pre-setups will allow defenders to jump into the action right away without having to worry about reinforcing the entire site.

ATTACKER SAFEGUARD

Attackers in Quick Match will no longer have to worry about possible spawn peaks or runouts at the beginning of the round as we are implementing 10 seconds of invulnerability at the start of the Action Phase (for attackers only). An attacker will become vulnerable again after those 10 seconds or if that attacker enters the building. This way, attackers will be able to approach the building without having to check every window.

We are also extending the already known “Red Walls” for 10 additional seconds to keep defenders from exiting the building while the attackers are making their approach.

These changes are aimed at making Quick Match a place in Rainbow Six: Siege that allows you to jump straight into the action and jump out to another match. We want players to feel that they can have their R6 fix easier, without having to worry about the basic and repetitive actions of a normal Siege match.

Additionally, we wanted to address the fact that some of the more classic maps in the casual map pool will not be included in the new Quick Match. We know that losing access to these maps can be frustrating and we will actively work towards adding them back to the map pool as soon as they are ready with their own new pre-setups.

Part of this update includes changing what was previously Unranked and giving it a new identity inside Rainbow Six: Siege. With the Quick Match updates, we were losing a place in the game to experience a core Siege match outside of the Ranked environment, that’s why we decided to shift Unranked into what we now call the “Standard” playlist.

Standard will now also be the recommended playlist for new players coming into the game.

BASE CHANGES
  • Removal of Operator and Map ban phases.
  • Overtime rounds changed to 1 (from 3).
  • Clearance Level availability changed to CL 0.
  • We are renaming the competitive cluster to “Tactical” in order to better inform players about the type of playlists that can be found inside.

That’s about it. Once the complete patch are out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
