Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Update 1.3.0 Now Live This April 19, Patch Notes Listed

Game Freak has released the patch notes for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet update 1.3.0 today, bringing a number of fixes and changes to both titles. Check out the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet April 19 patch notes below.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Update 1.3.0 Patch Notes | Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet April 19 Patch Notes:

Thank you for playing the Pokémon series.

On Wednesday, April 19, we released the version 1.3.0 update for the Nintendo Switch exclusive software titles Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Support for Trainers Who Caught an Egg Instead of Walking Wake or Iron Leaves in Tera Raid Battles

Trainers who caught an Egg instead of Walking Wake or Iron Leaves in a Tera Raid Battle before updating to version 1.2.0 of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet were affected by a bug that prevented them from catching either of these Pokémon.

This bug has been fixed, and Trainers who caught such Eggs instead of Walking Wake and Iron Leaves will now be able to catch these Pokémon.

In addition, the Tera Raid Battle events for these two Pokémon will return around the same time as this game update. Visit this page for details on the Tera Raid Battle events.

Feature Adjustments

A change has been made to the deadline for entries for Friendly Competitions, which are found in the Online Competitions section of the Battle Stadium.

  • Before this change: Entries were allowed until the Friendly Competition began.
  • After this change: Entries will be allowed until the Friendly Competition ends.

Bug Fixes

Link Battles

  • Fixed a bug in Link Battles where selecting Swap in just before the selection timer reached zero could fail to switch in the selected Pokémon and subsequently cause switching — and the battle itself — to act abnormally.
  • Fixed a bug in Link Battles where once the remaining time for the battle was under one minute, it would no longer be displayed where it was supposed to.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred in Link Battles where, depending on the move being used at the time a Pokémon fainted, the amount of time a Trainer received to select their next Pokémon was reduced.

Battles

  • Fixed a bug where the Cud Chew Ability would trigger again once every two turns after it triggered the first time, contrary to what is written in the Ability description.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when Zoroark Terastallized while using its Illusion Ability to disguise itself as another Pokémon. On the Check Status screen, the Terastallized Zoroark’s type would display as the original type of the Pokémon it had disguised itself as, rather than Zoroark’s Tera Type.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when Zoroark used its Illusion Ability to disguise itself as another Pokémon that had already Terastallized. This bug caused Zoroark’s type on the Check Status screen to incorrectly display as the Tera Type of the Pokémon Zoroark had disguised itself as.
  • Fixed a bug in Double Battles with moves that cause stat changes for the Pokémon using the moves. This bug caused the stat changes to incorrectly happen twice if the user hit two opposing Pokémon with the move while an opposing Pokémon was behind a Substitute.

Pokémon GO Connectivity

  • Fixed the main issue causing the game to crash on the screen used to pair with a Pokémon GO account.

Other

  • Fixed a bug affecting Trainers who received Hisuian Zoroark from the Mystery Gift screen as a special early-purchase bonus for The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero for Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet without first having seen Zoroark in their game. This bug caused Zoroark to be incorrectly displayed as registered in these Trainers’ Pokédexes.
  • Other select bug fixes have been implemented.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind Review – Bite-Sized Dungeon Crawling

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is the revamped version of the bite-sized dungeon crawler originally released in 2013. With significantly improved visuals but retaining all the goofiness that only the finest of gamers can enjoy, this isn’t a casual game; it’s a challenging tactical roguelike, with plenty of goats, goblins, and bankers to defeat as you develop and open your kingdom to every race in the book. It’s silly fun, one square at a time.

The Fellowship of the Square

Your quest to create and rule a kingdom isn’t a simple one; with a strong craving for gold, much mischief thanks to your sly advisor, and a persistent flow of new residents, you will explore dungeons and return with varied loot, mostly coins and a trophy taken from the cold grip of a dead foe. It’s more hardcore than what the colorful and casual looks hint at, so be prepared for some hair-pulling and teeth grinding as you die by the hands of a run-of-the-mill goblin due to a miscalculated mouse click.

The core gameplay in Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is brilliantly simple and easy to grasp – as an adventurer chosen from a combination of several kins and classes, you delve into pitch-black dungeons where fortune, fame, and potentially agonizing death awaits. Your hero moves one square at a time as he uncovers the unknown path ahead, finding and fighting monsters of various levels in turn-based combat, descending deeper into the dungeon for the occasional puzzle or dare.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind Review

Starting as a puny level one character, you gain experience points by defeating enemies that are within your reach, meaning of lower or equal levels. However, the biggest experience gains come from eliminating creatures above your level, a dangerous tactic that perfectly embodies the high risk/high reward motto. Succeed and you’ll be more than ready to take on the end of level boss; bite more than you can chew, and doom will come knocking.

There are only two ways of recovering health and mana, consisting of exploring new territory, one square at a time, and using potions. The balance between the compulsion to discover useful trinkets and skills clashes with the need to leave some areas untouched for the latter confrontations, as healing and mana become rare commodities and you need to be well stacked for the final clash. Botch your way and the boss will laugh you off with a couple of hits, turning all your efforts into dust.

The initial hero choice plays a significant role in your exploration. Each race (human, elf, dwarf…) comes with a specific stat boost for conversion points – more on that later – and classes (fighter, berserker, wizard…) also throw other factors into consideration. You also get to pick a few items from your adventuring kit, usually buffs of some kind. While it’s fun to find a fitting combo for our playstyle, most quests require you to play with preselected classes, forcing a flexible and knowledgeable approach of each one.

Be Kind Rewind

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind Review

While Desktop Dungeons: Rewind stays mostly faithful to the original – apart from the whole graphical revamp – it brings one new feature that is splattered right there on the title. If you manage to find and keep a scroll that makes death a little less permanent, you get a second chance at life when your hero expires. Suddenly, your run rewinds to a previous point and gives you another opportunity in the current dungeon. It doesn’t place you right before your death event, so at least you can weigh some previous choices and consider a different approach.

Your inventory is limited by weight, and while potions stack, other items take individual slots. From destroying a dungeon wall to revealing random tiles or casting a very useful fireball (surely a crowd favorite), there are a few decisions to be made, especially when you know that you can convert items into character-specific bonus, such as extra mana, damage, or health. A converted item is lost forever, so any rushed decision may put an ending to your run – destroy the wall-breaking skill and you may end up stuck between a rock and a hard place, almost literally. In other words, you could carve a passage around stronger enemies or into enclosed spaces to regain health and mana, but not anymore.

That ends up being one of the frustrations in this game, as Desktop Dungeons: Rewind doesn’t leave much margin for errors, especially since occasionally the randomly generated dungeons may lack one of your favorite items. Even the mere action of taking out enemies must be carefully judged, as you may reach the boss with stats below the bare minimum. With some wit and a packed inventory, you can overcome some challenges, but prove too reckless and you’d better find that exit if you still can and try again.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind Review

No matter how many classes you get to experiment with – and there are quite a few – Desktop Dungeons: Rewind does become repetitive. The humor and kingdom expansion slightly diminish this feeling of going through the same motions, but this is not a game for longer sessions. Enjoy it briefly for better effect and don’t let tediousness rear its ugly head, even more knowing that it requires quite a bit of focus and tactical awareness.

Another issue that you may stumble upon is unwarranted death. The game predicts the outcome of each attack, which means that you can see how much health you will lose with your next move, up to a point where you – or your enemy – may take the death blow. Eventually, a misclick may get you killed because of failing to notice move priority, so unless you have that rewind scroll at hand, it’s emotional damage time.

Pint-Sized Dungeon Romp

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind review

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is an accomplished update to an old but cherished indie roguelike. It’s a charming visual revamp that brings it to the current times, retaining the silly humor, the easy pick up and play approach, and the almost never-ending dungeon crawling from the main campaign, class, and puzzle challenges.

This is a game that requires a slow-paced and thoughtful approach and is clever at it, but the downside is that the core loop may become boring if you don’t take a breather now and then. Don’t play this on fast-forward, despite the yearn to keep pressing forward, square after square, one low-level enemy after another. There’s a lot of fun to be had from the mischievous dialogue and bite-sized dungeons, but make sure you give your heroes a well-earned rest.

Score: 8/10

Pros:

  • Easy to pick up and play
  • Charming graphical update
  • Some tactical ingenuity and plenty of variables
  • Many classes and challenges
  • Dungeons that will last you a lifetime

Cons:

  • Some randomized dungeons result in unexpected dead ends
  • May get repetitive a few hours in

Steam Down and Experiencing Issues This April 19

For those on PC gaming no Steam (which means the majority of you), it seems Steam is down right now and experiencing issues this April 19.

Steam Down Status and Updates for April 19:

Reports have surfaced that Steam is down over on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 subreddit, with us confirming that the platform is indeed having issues. Interestingly enough, it seems the outage is for US only, as Steam Asia and Canada servers seem to be working just fine…at least for now.

Here’s what we got after trying to login now:

Screenshot

This isn’t the first time Steam has faced issues this month, as it also experienced server issues last week.

So far, Valve hasn’t mentioned anything about the outage. Same as always, once we know more, we’ll update the article with the proper info.

Atari Acquires More Than 100 PC and Console Titles From ’80s and ’90s

Atari, one of the oldest video game brands in the world, has announced that the company has acquired more than 100 PC and console titles from the ’80s and ’90s!

In the press release, it mentions that the acquisition includes notable games from the Bubsy, Hardball, Demolition Racer series, and as well as the 1942: Pacific Air War, F-117A, and F-14 air combat series. In addition to that, Atari has also acquired the trademark to the Accolade and GTI brands. For those old enough (just like me), Accolade was a pretty well known video game company back in the ’80s and ’90s, and published games like Barkley Shut Up and Jam, Bubsy and more.

According to Atari, they are seeking to expand digital and physical distribution of the classic titles, create new games based on the IP and explore brand and merchandising collaborations.

The company states, “Atari is undertaking a multi-year effort to transform the company behind one of the world’s most iconic brands. An important part of that effort involves expanding Atari’s video game business, leveraging the company’s large catalog of IP to release classic games and bring new, high-quality games to market. Atari’s vast library of IP is the vault from which new and exciting game development ideas are pulled – reinventing old classics, reimagining storylines, and developing entirely new narratives inspired by the games that set the course for an entire industry.”

Unfortunately, there’s no list of the complete games acquisition, but if I had to wager a guess, most of the games pumped out by Accolade (which are listed here) are included.

This isn’t the first Atari acquisition of the year, as just last month, the company announced that it was acquiring NIghtdive Studios (currently developing the System Shock remake) for a cool $10 million.

XDefiant Interview – Crafting a New 6v6 Fast-Paced Arena Shooter

For shooter fans looking for a new multiplayer shooter to binge on or those looking for an alternative to their yearly Call of Duty fix, Ubisoft might have just the thing, and it’s the upcoming fast-paced, arena shooter XDefiant.

MP1st recently had a chance to talk to the XDefiant dev team during a media session for the game’s closed beta that’s on-going now. The devs who answered our questions include Associate Game Director Scott Crisostomo and former pro player and now game dev Patrick “ACHES” Price.

MP1st: I don’t think it’s a secret that XDefiant is targeting the Call of Duty crowd. Does the studio think there’s room for a tight, 6v6 multiplayer game that’s not battle royale? I mean, most shooters these days are going after bigger, more players and whatnot since some think that’s what gamers want.

Scott Crisostomo: We really wanted a fast-paced arena shooter style game. We really like the 6v6 environment. It has a lot of flexibility with that. We can make sure that our environments fit well for that and our game modes fit for that number of players in those environments.

xdefiant closed beta

MP1st: What’s the post-launch outline looking so far? Can we expect the traditional Battle Pass and each season coming with a new map and the like?

Scott Crisostomo: We mainly want to be talking about our close beta right now, but we will, I can say we will be having battle passes,  in our seasons in the future.

MP1st: We’ve seen other Ubisoft properties make their way into the game’s factions, has the studio considered maybe looking at other non-Ubisoft IPs to include as a faction?

Scott Crisostomo: I can’t really comment about that right now. I can just comment about what’s in the close beta, the four factions.

MP1st: Given the current gaming landscape, what are the dev team’s plans to make XDefiant stand out from the long list of free-to-play games out there right now?

Patrick Price: Something that’s really important is the fact that this isn’t just a one and done title. This is a title that we plan to support long term and continuously add new content into the game. And I think that’s a core pillar for our title in general, is that this is something that’s gonna be supported for a long time.

Fans coming in will know that this is something that has a long-lasting aspect, whereas a lot of other titles are released and then they’re onto a new project. But, we want to focus on supporting this as long as we can.

xdefiant

MP1st: XDefiant has been cooking for quite some time, was it a case of being announced too soon or did the game’s vision change midway the development?

Scott Crisostomo: This game really came together when we had Mark Rubin join our team. If you don’t know who he is, he’s been a longtime producer on a really popular first-person game and so he came on board.

He really had a vision as Patrick Price just mentioned. He really wanted a product that we could keep evolving based on players’ feedback. We only wanted to make sure that we did this game justice and we did it right, and which is why we had all these things we call these insider sessions where we allowed players to kind of.see the game early rather than waiting for it. Like a pretty polished demo. Players got to see it early, they got to get feedback early and they got to see us make changes and improvements based on their feedback. This is just an ongoing process because we want this game to be great.

MP1st: Does the dev team have plans to integrate a bigger “Ground War”-like mode? 10v10 matches might be too chaotic or fun…

Scott Crisostomo: We are 6v6. I don’t want to comment on what we have for the future at this time.

We want anything that we do to be a surprise for the players. So right now we’re just going to be focusing on the Close Beta 6v6

MP1st: What specific gameplay features and/or mechanics are in XDefiant are suited for competitive play?

Patrick Price: With our factions, I think there’s a really nice team cohesion to all of our factions and kind of think about a matrix of how all these factions interact with one another. There’s a lot of counter play involved in that and I think that’s at the height of competitiveness, coming up with a strategy to defeat your opponents with, with more than just getting a kill.

I think our gunplay is topnotch. I think in any competitive title you want gunplay. that feels good to the core. We’ve had some internal testing with pro players from other titles and something that they all really like is our movement and how that kind of interacts in our  game.

Something that makes our gunplay experience just feel very rewarding when you get kills.

XDefiant Closed Test

MP1st: Will the game run on full dedicated servers?

Ubisoft: No comment.

MP1st: How is the studio looking to combat cheaters and the regular cadence of release of programs that allow players to cheat? Is the studio also looking to block XIM users on consoles?

Scott Crisostomo: Cheating is a big problem with a lot of games, a lot of competitive games, and it’s something we’re taking very seriously. We can’t discuss exactly what it is, but just be assured that this is an issue that we’re constantly thinking about, and the various ways that we can combat cheaters in our game because we know that this will affect experience for everybody.

MP1st: Has the dev team borrowed or sought the advice of Rainbow Six Siege dev team given that its longevity is quite impressive, and how they seemingly managed to satisfy the player base enough that there’s still a healthy amount of people playing it even after eight years?

Scott Crisostomo: We do collaborate. A lot of our various studios, Not so much about our under the code mechanics and stuff like that.

But mainly for, since we’re even bringing in these different factions from all over, the Ubisoft universe, We wanted to make sure that we kind of did these characters, these factions, justice, and were in kind of lines with what players expect from those games. And so not so much technical, but we do consult and collaborate with all of our other CEOs.

MP1st: How often do you plan on doing balancing changes?

Patrick Price: We haven’t shied away from our insider sessions is how actively we have been making changes. We had all of the insider sessions last year in 2022 and, I think our players did see that, week to week or month to month.

We were actively trying to make changes. Keeping all of our factions as balanced as possible is a top priority for us. That conversation is constantly evolving. Especially as we go on, post-launch and things like that. I would say it’s a top priority that all of our factions have to play the role that we’re aiming for them too.

XDefiant has no firm release date just yet but is confirmed to be playable on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. You can read up about the launch content available to players right here.

Meet Your Maker Update 1.04 Brings Quality of Life Improvements This April 19

Behaviour Interactive has released Meet Your Maker update 1.04 (PS5 version 1.000.006) this April 19, and this brings a host of quality of life improvements and bug fixes to the game. Read on for the complete patch notes.

Meet Your Maker Update 1.04 Patch Notes | Meet Your Maker Update 1.000.006 Patch Notes:

We have just released an update which provides some Quality-of-Life updates, bug fixes and stability improvements. We have also recently released some new content! Please see the patch notes below for more details:

RECENT RELEASES – Hellscape Deco Pack + Trap Mod

Hellscape Deco Pack

Humanity’s struggle for survival in the wasteland has been full of missteps. Hellscape organisms are one such aberration. The result of a Sanctuary’s rogue project, the original intention of these creations remains unknown – but the outcome is the stuff of nightmares.

This repulsive Deco Pack combines organic matter and artificial structures to create eerie, pulsating Outposts where tendrils creep, lesions light the path, and patterned bloodstains decorate the walls. Use these materials within your next creation to bring it to life in the worst possible ways.

The Hellscape Deco Pack includes:

  • 2 Blocks: Bloodmesh, Gnarlvine
  • 2 Props: Tower Lesion, Keyhole Lesion
  • 1 Animated Prop: Flesh Bloom
  • 8 Decals

Boltshot Trap Mod – Relentless

The Relentless Mod for the Boltshot trap gives Builders even more control over the vicious volley of arrows launched at unsuspecting trespassers. Adding this Mod means the Boltshot’s 14 arrows are no longer triggered simultaneously, but staggered, launching over the course of 2 seconds to increase the duration of its deadly onslaught.

Use these additions well, Custodians. Many more are on the way.

PERFORMANCE

  • Multiple title crashes have been fixed, which should help provide a more stable experience.

VISUAL

  • More rust has been added to the texture on the Dead by Daylight Deco Pack Blocks Set, reducing the resemblance to the metal on Traps. This should help you spot traps more easily without altering the visual intentions for the Deco pack.
  • We have fixed an issue which caused armor to appear floating below Hornet after reequipping the Armor Mod on a Hornet with a Recorded Path.

BUILDING

  • The “Continue” button on the Accolade Screen will now require you to press and hold to proceed. This should help prevent accidental skipping of Accolade selections.
  • The Building controller presets have been swapped from “Default” to “Original.” This will allow you to rotate blocks with the face buttons instead of having to first open the “More” menu.

SANCTUARY

  • Subtitles within the Sanctuary will now be set to “Enabled” by default. They may be turned off in Settings.

MISC. FIXES

  • Fixed an issue which prevented players who participated in the Open Beta from unlocking the “Feed the Beast” achievement.
  • You may also unlock the 5 achievements associated with each Advisor by adding 10 more levels to the level you started with at launch.
  • Fixed an issue which caused HRV to get stuck in collision between a sloped Framed Glass Block and a Cathedral Block.

If you haven’t played the game, it’s part of Sony’s PlayStation Plus freebies for the month! Go read our review of the game right here to know what we make of it.

Eternal Darkness Remaster: Dennis Dyack Thinks It Would “Resonate” With Fans, Not Opposed to It

Released in 2002, Silicon Knights’ Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem has been widely regarded as one of the greatest games of all time despite lackluster sales performance. However, multiple efforts to revive the IP in the last two decades have been unsuccessful. Acknowledging the title’s resounding popularity with fans, director Denis Dyack has expressed that the idea of an Eternal Darkness remaster does appeal to him, though he has only left the door open for such a project at this time.

In a new interview, Dyack claims that he “gets asked all the time” about a potential Eternal Darkness remaster, and agrees that it would “resonate” with fans. Furthermore, he explains that his upcoming Deadhaus Sonata title is designed around reviving the legacy of Eternal Darkness as well as Legacy of Kain:

[Would a remaster of Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem sell well today?] I think so. […] We’re making Deadhaus Sonata, [and] doing a lot of crazy things; some of the stuff we haven’t announced yet, and we’re trying to create the holy grail of… sort of narrative, and some of the things we’re doing, but, just sort of push that aside for now. More than anything else, we’re trying to bring the voice of games like Eternal Darkness and Legacy of Kain that have essentially become extinguished. Games like those are not being made any more. [And so,] that was one of the reasons we started working on Deadhaus: “we need to make a game like that, cause no one’s doing them anymore.” So yeah, I do agree that [a remaster] would resonate, and we do get asked all the time [about it.] So who knows, maybe someday.

Dyack was responsible for Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, and a number of other classic action games through Silicon Knights, which shut down in 2014.

Legacy of Kain and Eternal Darkness are both seen as unconventional, memorable narrative-driven games with unique takes on horror themes. While Legacy of Kain received multiple sequels without Silicon Knights’ involvement, the Nintendo-published Eternal Darkness saw a potential sequel being axed and plans for a crowdfunded spiritual successor falling through. Last year, abandonware revival developer Nightdive Studios expressed its desire to remaster the title, but claimed Nintendo’s unwillingness to cooperate prevented such ideas from coming to fruition.

You can check out the discussion in the full interview below, where Dyack also discusses the development of his other games and his goals with Deadhaus Sonata:

Resident Evil 4 Was Best-Selling Game in March 2023; PS5 Outsold PS4 in Comparable Period

Newly-released sales data has revealed that Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake was the best-selling game in March 2023 (the first month of its release), beating Avalanche Software’s massively-successful Hogwarts Legacy and also becoming the third best-selling game of the year to date in the process. In the hardware department, the PlayStation 5 remained the best-selling hardware platform in March, outselling the PS4 in a comparable period following release.

Market research company Circana (formerly The NPD Group)’s Mat Piscatella published his report of the gaming industry’s market data for the month of March 2023 today. While net video game spending across content, hardware, and accessories saw marginal year-on-year and year-to-date declines in March, hardware and accessory spending both rose year-on-year and year-to-date compared to previous periods:

Mar. 2023 Dollar Sales (in Millions) (Year-on-Year, 2/26/2023 – 4/1/2023) Mar. 22 Mar. 23 Change
Total Video Game Sales 4875 4633 -5%
Video Game Content (incl. full games, DLC/MTX, and subscriptions across all platforms 4123 3827 -7%
Video Game Hardware 515 566 10%
Video Game Accessories 237 239 1%

Mar. 2023 Dollar Sales (in Millions) (Year-to-Date, 1/1/2023 – 4/1/2023) YTD End Mar. 22 YTD End Mar. 23 Change
Total Video Game Sales 13785 13580 -1%
Video Game Content (incl. full games, DLC/MTX, and subscriptions across all platforms 11966 11509 -4%
Video Game Hardware 1202 1455 21%
Video Game Accessories 616 617 0%

The PS5 was responsible for the rise in hardware spending in March, though its contributions to video game spending were offset by a spending decline across premium games, PC add-on content and mobile game spending. Twenty-nine months into release, the PS5 now has outsold the PS4 in a comparable post-launch period.

Compared year-on-year, March 2023 was the second-strongest March for hardware spending in U.S. history with $566 million worth of sales, beaten only by March 2021 with $680 million worth of hardware spending.

In terms of video game content, Capcom’s ambitious Resident Evil 4 remake tore past its competitors in the first month of its release, becoming the best-selling game of March 2023 and the third best-selling game of the year to date. Notably, it defeated February’s Hogwarts Legacy in March sales, and came in at third place under the Wizarding World game and Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 in terms of year-to-date sales:

Mar. 2023 Best-Selling Premium Games (Excluding DLC/MTX)
Rank Last Month Rank Title
1 NEW Resident Evil 4
2 1 Hogwarts Legacy
3 NEW MLB: The Show 23
4 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
5 6 The Last of Us: Part I
6 5 FIFA 23
7 NEW WWE 2K23
8 7 Elden Ring
9 4 Madden NFL 23
10 13 Mario Kart 8

Mar. 2023 Best-Selling Premium Games (Excluding DLC/MTX) (Year-to-Date, 1/1/2023 – 4/1/2023)
Rank Last Month Rank Title
1 1 Hogwarts Legacy
2 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
3 NEW Resident Evil 4
4 NEW MLB: The Show 23
5 3 Dead Space
6 4 Madden NFL 23
7 5 FIFA 23
8 6 Elden Ring
9 9 The Last of Us: Part I
10 8 God of War Ragnarok

Video game accessory spending grew both year-on-year (from $237 million to $239 million) and year-to-date (from $616 million to $617 million). Though gamepad sales saw a decline in year-on-year sales in February, they have risen year-on-year in March as the month’s best-selling accessory segment, and with the black PS5 DualSense Edge controller ranking as the month’s highest-selling gamepad in dollar sales.

Though marginal spending declines year-on-year and year-to-date were indeed seen in multiple segments, Piscatella reports that large new gaming releases are in fact selling “very well;” the issue instead appears to be the quantity and frequency of such releases. The PS5 is understandably driving the console market, with the overall gaming market stabilizing and consumer engagement returning to pre-pandemic levels.

If you’re deciding whether or not to pick up the Resident Evil 4 remake now, our review of the game in which we found it “the gold standard when it comes to remakes” should make that decision for you. BALANCE CHANGES

Rogues

In this update, players will see the return of a gameplay role: Intel. This role specializes helping their team to gain information on enemy positions to turn engagements in their favor. They sit in the middle of the spectrum between support and duelist, gathering intel while also being able to hold their own as they put themselves at risk for their team. We’ve done this as it opens up a creative avenue for how we approach a collective of rogues that have similar toolsets and opens the door for new intel ideas for the future! You’ll see a good number of rogues that used to have this role step back into it and some of the newer rogues assume it as well. Some of these Rogues require little-to-no changes as they’re already well-equipped for the task.

WEAPONS & GADGETS

LMGS

LMGs are getting an identity adjustment, these weapons are heavy and powerful weapons that take considerable effort and technique to wield. For their identity we are exploring the idea of all LMGs possessing the accuracy behavior that the Conviction has paved the way for and will balance LMGs, both current and future, in this unique accuracy type. Additionally, we are considering that the huge firepower of this weapons also come at a slight mobility cost when compared to their smaller caliber/capacity siblings. Let us know what you think!

  • MLX Maw
The Maw is currently overperforming and will receive additional adjustments overtime to bring it down to manageable levels. Between the Identity adjustment and the removal of an upgrade piece, we’ll observe and make adjustments as data comes in.

    • Base Weapon Headshot reduced from 24 -> 22
    • Removed ADS Movespeed upgrade from Rare/Epic/Legendary
    • -5% Movement Speed Reduction added
    • Accuracy/Bloom Behavior changed to fit LMG Identity
