Battlefield 2042 Upcoming Map Changes Detailed from Core Feedback; Arriving in Season 1 and Season 2

Following up on their core feedback discussion held earlier this month, DICE has came out with a list of Battlefield 2042 upcoming map changes, in the hopes of pulling back players amidst the many issues the game is still currently experiencing. According to the studio, they have taken “the necessary time to read through, listen, and identify” the common top points of feedback, and as a result we now have a better understanding of what’s coming to Battlefield 2042 maps in the coming patches.

Below is a rundown of the most important points for these upcoming map changes in Battlefield 2042:

Traversal

For Traversal we outlined that travel time on foot between Base Spawn and Flags was too long. Our proposed solution is to reduce overall travel time between these areas by moving them closer together.

We shared that the first map in need of changes is Kaleidoscope, which through your feedback you’ve confirmed to us is the right call. However, you’ve also shared with us that Renewal is another map that really needs to see changes made to it. We hear you on that, and we’re looking to deliver a refreshed version of Renewal alongside Kaleidoscope as part of Season 1 this summer.

Battlefield 2042 Upcoming Map Changes

Another feedback point was that you’d like us to shift focus away from traversal by foot by ensuring that there are more transport vehicles active on the map. Increasing the number of active vehicles on the map isn’t something we can do as a short term solution as this has the potential to impact our separate work on improving game performance, but we do hear you on this and want to do what we can to approach the problem from different angles.

One of the ways in which we think we can limit the amount of time spent on foot is to change the distribution of vehicles across our selection pools. We are currently exploring how gameplay changes when the two seater M5C Bolte features as part of the Armored Vehicle pool, and MAV instead shows up in the Transport Vehicles category, as well as shifting the MD540 Nightbird out into the Attack Helicopter pool, ensuring that Air Transport is more readily available in the round.

Cover and Line of Sight

In our first post, we detailed that there wasn’t enough Cover available across maps to ensure safety when traveling between Flags. Additionally, we highlighted that there aren’t enough Line of Sight blockers, introducing an unintended increase on the number of long range engagements.

You’ve asked us to ensure that when we are moving around both Flags and Objectives to new areas, that we’re also working to ensure that sufficient Cover is available in their new locations. We hear you on that, and work is already underway that helps to ensure this standard is upheld. We believe that this should also resolve Line of Sight issues that have been highlighted by you.

Battlefield 2042 Upcoming Map Changes

Immersion is another point you’ve asked for us to look at, often through discussion of how the maps feel too clean, and pristine. You’ve expressed to us that you want it to feel like each Flag and Objective needs to have more strategic value, and something that you feel is worth fighting for.

As an example taken from the improvements we’re bringing to Kaleidoscope, we’re updating the gazebo on B1 into a military installment. We’ll replace grass with mud, and cover the area in barbed wire to better immerse it into our world, and to bring improvements to the narrative of our battles. We want you to feel the objectives are ready for battle whilst you are fighting over them.

Intensity

For Intensity we outlined that especially in 128* player modes, combat can become too chaotic around our Objectives, making it hard to determine what’s going on around you, and where you should be keeping your attention.

You’ve told us that in your experience, the primary cause for this problem is vehicle dominance.

Battlefield 2042 Upcoming Map Changes

Based on that feedback there are several changes we’ll make to reduce overall vehicle availability and uptime:

  • We’re reducing the number of attack vehicles and helicopters that can be active at any time in 128 player modes per category from 3, to 2. This means you’ll only be able to encounter 2 tanks, and 2 attack helicopters available at any time, instead of 3 each.
  • We’re increasing the cooldown for attack vehicles and helicopters from 60, to 120 seconds.
  • As discussed earlier, the MD540 Nightbird will be moved from transport into the attack helicopter category, and the MC5 Bolte will also be moved from transport into the attack vehicle category.

In summary, this means current dominant vehicles will see a reduction in active time, and you’ll encounter less of them on the Battlefield.

Paths

We outlined that there were too few clear Paths between Flags, making it unclear where enemy fire could come from, or how to best travel between Flags.

You’ve told us that you’d like to see this improved by lining up Cover in such a way that it follows a clear path between Objectives. This is something we’re looking to update once we’ve finished moving Base Spawn and different Flag locations closer together.

That’s only the tip of the iceberg for most of these upcoming map changes for Battlefield 2042, with DICE promising to push a new topic for Core Feedback next week. With all of that said, what’s the timeline of these maps changes coming to Battlefield 2042? DICE outright avoided saying anything concrete as the studio did not want to overpromise, but it did give a window for players to see some of these changes in action:

We’ve discussed several changes today that we’ll not only make to maps, but also to gameplay such as how often or how many vehicles you’ll see on the Battlefield.

The first changes we’ll make are to vehicle play and availability, and those will be ready in the next Update. Following that you’ll start to see the first updates to Flag, Base Spawn locations, and Cover and Line of Sight on Kaleidoscope and Renewal. These changes will arrive during Season 1, and as we get closer to deploying those updates we’ll be able to share all of the specifics.

We’re now getting started on bringing these same standards of updates to our other launch maps alongside needed visual changes to make all maps feel ready for battle. There’s a lot of work involved in doing that, so you can expect us to start discussing more about those updates during Season 1, and for the changes themselves during Season 2.

If you yourself have something you want to bring up in terms of Core Feedback for whatever topic DICE comes up next, you can reach out to the game’s various socials to do so:

In case you missed it, check out how to finish the weekly challenge number 15 for Battlefield 2042 here, alongside its reward and tips on how to easily breeze through this new weekly task!

Marvel’s Avengers Update 1.000.037 Released for PS5 Crash Fix This March 31 (Update)

Crystal Dynamics has released the Marvel’s Avengers update 1.000.037 patch, and upon checking, this seems to be just for the PS5 version of the game. As one might expect given the crashing issues the PS5 version has been suffering ever since patch 2.3 was released, this is a fix for that so players won’t have to do the workaround that will reset your campaign progress.

Marvel’s Avengers Update 1.000.037 Patch Notes | Marvel’s Avengers March 31 Patch Notes:

Update: As expected, the studio confirmed that today’s patch is to fix the PS5 crash issue.

While no announcement has been made by Crystal Dynamics today just yet, the studio did confirm an update was incoming for the PS5 to fix the crashing issue:

For those curious about the workaround, here’s what Crystal Dynamics shared yesterday about it:

In the meantime, here’s a workaround that is resolving the issue for some players – just note that it will reset your campaign progress:

Go to Operations and Reset your Reassemble Campaign Progress. As soon as you become young Kamala on A-Day, force close the game from the PS home screen, then you should be able to start Avengers Initiative.

Yeah, not ideal, no? Once we get the official changelog, we’ll be sure to update the post. If this indeed fixes the PS5 crash issue, let us know down in the comments, true believer!

Update: Post has been updated with the proper announcement from Crystal Dynamics.

Blue Box Deletes Tweets About Abandoned Future Plans, Says They Are Facing a “Minor Delay” (Update)

Remember Abandoned? The horror “game” (using that term loosely here) that made waves given that most people thought it was associated with legendary game maker Hideo Kojima? It seems whatever the studio’s plans are, it has changed in the past few months, as tweets about its future plans which include the mention of a demo.

This was spotted by YouTuber and Twitter user Lance McDonald who pointed out the inconsistencies in Blue Box’s announcements, and actual execution.

Thanks to web archive, here’s a screenshot of some of the deleted tweets:

Image

Image

There are more deleted tweets in the web archive link, but those are the most relevant ones.

While those are deleted, the studio’s website still has this blog post up where it mentions the following:

Prologue Á game reveal

Q1 2022 is going to be interesting for fans of Abandoned. With the game reveal being around the corner and the release of the Prologue coming closer and closer, we are working hard to make sure to showcase the game at the best and stable way possible.

Adding to the whole “this is vaporware” vibe is tha the person who worked on the game’s soundtrack is even lost in what’s happening with the “game” and is even asking for help since he doesn’t know what to do.

https://twitter.com/manfightdragon/status/1509503791715938306

While the studio deleted the tweets for some unknown reason, they did reply just this week that they are facing a “minor delay,” and that they wre working to get it revealed and released ASAP.

https://twitter.com/BBGameStudios/status/1507808456379670533

Hasan Kahraman, Blue Box boss, also responded to a Twitter user that pointed out that Q1 2022 is about to end, in which Kahraman replied that they are working to get the Prologue game revealed and released ASAP, and apologized for the wait.

https://twitter.com/HasanEKahraman/status/1509255170307280899

Truth be told, I don’t know what to make of Abandoned at all. While the studio is insisting it’s a real thing, it does sound like vaporware at this point. The last tangible thing we heard about it was the 5GB download for the PS5 reveal that was all for five seconds of footage.

We’ll keep an eye out for this one, but it’s looking more and more like a big marketing stunt more than anything.

Update: Blue Box has issued a tweet amid the “rumors” to remind people that Abandoned is a real thing.

PUBG Console Graphics Options Being Worked on by Devs; Tentatively Set for Mid-2022

PUBG Corp. recently unveiled their 2022 roadmap, and though it brought up some exciting new stuff incoming this year, there is a lingering question within the community that wasn’t addressed: where are the PUBG console graphics options?

Fortunately, the PUBG devs took to Twitter to address this question, and it’s one that console players should be cautiously optimistic about. Here is their answer as per Twitter:

Many of you must be curious after the latest Dev Plan announcement. (Check the link if you haven’t seen it already) What the heck is going on with the console graphics options! The dev team is actively working on it.

In fact, the latest console update has changes that lay the foundation for the graphics options feature. But the dev team has to be careful. Otherwise, you might see the weird stability issues you’ve seen on consoles lately.

Anyways, console graphics options is something we’re working on very actively. It wasn’t possible to do it on one console platform (won’t name which) but recent platform-side breakthroughs gave us the means to provide this feature on both Xbox and PlayStation.

Console graphics options doesn’t have an ETA yet. It needs extensive testing. Hoping to see it mid-2022, but don’t hold me to this. Changing graphics stuff could lead to massive instability, so the plan could get scrapped. Hope that doesn’t become true. Fingers crossed!

There you have it. While not explicitly stated over in their updated roadmap, it would seem that the developers are still very much invested in enhancing the console experience for PUBG, although several issues have lead to its leading to more problems. Here’s hoping that it will keep on track, though, and deliver an awesome performance on new-gen consoles.

In case you missed it, a new patch for PUBG dropped today, and you can check out the full patch notes here.

Battlefield 2042 Weekly Reset Challenge #15 & Reward (Mar 31 – Apr 7)

Morning Battlefield 2042 players, it’s that time of week again! Yup, there’s a new set of challenges and weekly rewards now live in Battlefield 2042. Here’s all the requirements to unlock the Battlefield 2042 Weekly Reset Challenge #15 (Mar 31 – Apr 7) rewards.

Battlefield 2042 Weekly Reset Challenge #15 (Mar 31 – Apr 7):

How to Complete and Earn Battlefield 2042 Weekly Reset Challenge #15 (Mar 31 – Apr 7) Reward:

  • 1000 Damage Inflicted with Vehicles
  • 50 Teammates Revived and Enemies Killed
  • 50 Enemies Disrupted with EMP

50 revives and enemy kills should be easy enough as it’s only required to do one or the other and focusing on kills is quicker than reviving teammates. I recommend pairing this up with the thousand damage done with vehicle mission as you’re most likely rack up plenty of kills as you try to do damage to enemies. Obviously select the vehicle you feel most comfortable with but if you are much of a vehicle kind of player than I recommend using a tank as they are easy to control and have a good amount of range. For the Emp you can use Emp grenades and spam them in hot zones such as capture points on conquest or breakthrough.

Congrats, you should now have earned 15,000XP along with the Battlefield 2042 weekly mission #14 reward, the “Frost Giant”, Epic Skin for the M1A5!

Every week on Thursday at 4:00am PT/6:00am CT/7:00am ET the Battlefield 2042 weekly challenges refresh, revealing a new weekly reward. If you are interested in staying up-to-date on when these rewards and weekly challenges drop, be sure to follow MP1st on Twitter, or keep a watchful eye on our guide page for Battlefield 2042.

WWE 2K22 Update 1.08 Adds Roster Support for nWo This March 30

Visual Concepts has released the WWE 2K22 update 1.08 (PS5 version 1.008) for all platforms, and this is a hotfix that adds nWo 4 Life roster support, and other fixes. Read on for the WWE 2K22 March 30 patch notes.

WWE 2K22 Update 1.08 Patch Notes | WWE 2K22 Update 1.008 Patch Notes | WWE 2K22 March 30 Patch Notes:

Here’s the announcement from Visual Concepts:

#WWE2K22 Patch Update 1.08
KEY ISSUE HOTFIX

⭐ Provides roster support for added nWo 4-Life Superstars
⭐ Various fixes and improvements

That seems to be it, which isn’t surprising given we just got patch 1.07 yesterday, which addressed a number of issues.

In case you haven’t tried it yet, go read our review of WWE 2K22 right here, and see why our own Jimmy Lara said the following in his review: “If you’re a fan of the WWE 2K franchise, then without a question you’ll be happy with what WWE 2K22 has to offer. It feels like a true return to form, and although that suggests it isn’t an evolution of some sort, it certainly has enough to shake up the franchise and for the best. It’s accessible, it’s fun, and most of all, it’s well polished in most of its gameplay.”

Battlefield 2042: DICE Knows Players “Eager for More Content,” Explains Silence on Communications

Do you find the content in Battlefield 2042 a bit lacking? Given the amount of maps and weapons available at launch, chances are, that’s a resounding yes. While DICE has yet to announce anything officially about Battlefield 2042 new content coming out soon, the studio is aware that players are asking for it.

Over on the EA Answers forum, Battlefield Community Manager Straatford87 acknowledged that players are “eager for more content” and that the dev team is still working hard for Season 1’s release in the summer.

With that said, we know you and other players are eager for more content. Just want to confirm that our teams are still hard at work prepping for Season 1 release this Summer (yes, I can’t wait for summer but also because of weather reasons). We’ve got further updates in between, with the next update scheduled for April. Apart from bug fixes, it will include VoIP, End of Round Scoreboard, vehicle balance changes and updates to weapon attachment functionality. We’ll also have some further information to share this week on updates we’re making to maps, and their gameplay.

In another forum post, Straatford87 explained why DICE has been silent in terms of communicating what bugs are being squashed, and what changes are being made.

Can clarify. From “our” end in this case means communication from myself and the other Community Managers.

It also means that development plans sometimes change. For example, I could share right now that change X is in the next update. But then later we end up moving change X to another update, or maybe we’re not doing X at all, and now we are doing Y.

I personally don’t think it’s helpful for you if we share something on a specific change before we can confirm that yes, change X will be in the next update and here is exactly how it will work. The end result of that is that sometimes we have to be “quiet” longer than we would like. Again, sorry for that.

What’s also been called out in this thread is that we should share more on our thought process for future changes as well, instead of just locked changes. When we do that however we’d also like to make sure that we don’t share an important detail in a forum post which can easily get lost and might not reach many players. So instead right now that’s something we’re aiming to do via the Core Feedback posts. The follow-up for Maps is presently scheduled to go live before end of week.

While it’s never good when a dev team goes dark, Straatford87 does have a point. The Community Managers announcing a certain thing will probably get fixed/tweaked and it’s not part of the latest patch will cause more harm than good. Of course, being silent isn’t good, either, and I’m sure there’s a middle ground between the two, which DICE just needs to find.

In other Battlefield news, don’t forget that the next patch is due this April, and will have a “few hundreds of changes” according to DICE. We’ll be getting a core feedback post from the studio regarding Specialists this week, too, and once that’s out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know about it.

Marvel’s Avengers PS5 Crash Fix Workaround Detailed by Devs, Will Wipe Campaign Progress

In case you didn’t know, yesterday’s Marvel’s Avengers patch brought in a host of fixes, but also managed to cause crashing issues for the PS5 version of the game. Unfortunately, even after a day, the studio has still not resolved it. However, a Marvel’s Avengers PS5 crash fix workaround has been detailed by the studio, though it comes at a heavy price.

Over on Twitter, Crystal Dynamics acknowldged the issue and mentioned that they are still working on it, and that they are hoping a dev update will be ready by tomorrow. Here’s the message in full, which we’ve included below as text for an easier read.

Marvel’s Avengers PS5 Crash Fix Workaround:

Our team is continuing to investigate the issue causing a crash for some PS5 players. We think we’ve identified a fix that is currently being implemented/tested. We hope to have more news by tomorrow morning and will continue to keep you updated.

Yep, that’s not an ideal workaround, to be honest. For those affected, I’d wait it out since it seems the devs are close to figuring out a solution. Chances are, a new patch will be released just for this, and once it’s out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Child of Light Collab Sees Aurora as New Playable Character

505 Games has announced a new collaboration for Bloodstained Ritual of the Night & Child of Light, and this one adds a surprising new member to the playable roster: Aurora, the protagonist of the game! Check out the trailer for this free new addition to the game.

Aurora has lost her way and awoken in a strange, dangerous new land. Armed with the Sword of Matildis and accompanied by the loyal Igniculus, she must find a way to escape. Despite the dire situation, Aurora is not alone. Johannes is on hand to help her increase her power by transmuting items found in chests throughout the game.

In addition to her sword, Aurora begins her adventure with the help of her trusted friend Igniculus and the directional Light Ray skill. Igniculus acts on his own and can temporarily slow down enemies or heal Aurora with a flash of light. The Light Ray uses MP and shines in front of Aurora. Enemies caught in the light lock on will suffer damage.

Throughout her journey, Aurora gains power by defeating enemies and absorbing Shards. The Grade of each ability can be improved by collecting more shards of the same type and, with the help of Johannes, you can level up the Rank.

After defeating certain bosses, she will grow stronger and gain additional abilities as she ages. Each stage of her progression will add to her movement abilities and unlock previously inaccessible parts of the castle.

Aurora of Child of Light will join the frey alongside protagonists Miriam and Zangetsu in Bloodstained Ritual of the Night as a free upgrade across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox this March 31. She will be added to the Nintendo Switch at a future date.
