Dead by Daylight Update 5.005.200 Released for Bug Fixes This February 9

Behaviour Interactive has released the (DBD) Dead by Daylight update 5.005.200 today, which adds all the changes and content from bugfix patch5.5.2! Here’s the full breakdown of what’s included in the Dead by Daylight February 9 patch notes.

Content

  • Boil Over
    • Changed to give 33% of current wiggle progress when falling from great heights (was a flat 25% increase)

Dev Note: This change prevents abuse of Boil Over in specific map locations where the killer has no choice but to drop from a height. It still stays relevant for longer walks and especially for basement access. At over 75% wiggle progress, it still results in an insta-drop.

  • Changed “Rite of The Executioner” Daily Ritual to require sending 2 Survivors to Cages of Atonement (was 4)

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused some players to encounter a Grade Reset after updating to patch 5.5.1. Note: This issue was only visual.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Wraiths Withering Vine cosmetic to erroneously be unlocked for all players.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Hillbilly’s Fable Acres Delivery torso cosmetic to clip into the camera when hooking a Survivor.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the HUD score alerts to lose their formatting when using the Large Text setting.
  • Fixed an issue that caused players with at least 1 game played but 0 pips to not receive any reward at the end of season.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nemesis’ tentacle strike recovery animation to be missing when too close to an asset.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse to not be able to lunge after a blink if the attack input is pressed before the end of the blink.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse’s second blink to be delayed and thus cover less distance.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse not to enter fatigue when having a grab validation fail after blinking.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse’s hand not to close properly when charging a chain blink.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse to be able to blink out of bounds past the exit threshold in the Springwood maps. 
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Nurse to be able to blink out of bounds past the exit threshold in the Backwater Swamp maps. 
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Survivors to use ”Dead Hard” to jump on rocks near the Ferry Boat.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Jonah’s tablet to be visible on the floor of the Vat room in The Game map.
  • Fixed an issue that caused hooks in the Eyrie of Crows map to be missing the white glow from Scourge Hook perks.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a small part of the Entity to stretch when a Survivor is sacrificed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the exit prompt to become unresponsive after adding a friend in the Friends List.
  • Fixed an issue that may have caused the game to become stuck when joining an almost full survivor lobby (PS4/PS5 only)

Warframe Update 1.015 Released for Echoes of War This February 9

Digital Extremes has released the Warframe update 1.015 for both last-gen and next-gen platforms! This patch is for the Echoes of War title update, which is the first mainline update of the year! Read on for the full Warframe Echoes of War patch notes, which the devs call the 31.1.0 title update.

Update 31.1.0 includes PC Hotfixes 31.0.2 – 31.0.11 and new Echoes of War content! The update is ~2.3 GB on PS4 and ~5.28 GB on PS5 (size variations are to be expected based on the ways in which the different systems operate).   

The year is 2022, and Digital Extremes is back with the first Mainline of the year.

Less than 2 months ago The New War Quest was launched on all platforms. Our ambitions to have Replay on launch didn’t make it in time, but we made it our top priority to have it ready for our first Update of 2022. There’s still no accurate words to describe our appreciation for all the support and reactions to The New War, and we hope you enjoy replaying it as many times as you wish!

There’s lots more in the Warframe oven for 2022 – thank you for coming along the ride!

In addition, you may notice nods to the Public Test Cluster in some sections. Thank you to everybody that participated in our weekend test! We’ve made some changes in response that you’ll find throughout the patch notes.*

*The following changes/fixes from the PC update will be coming in a future update since they were code and missed our Cert deadline: 

Spoiler
  • Kuva Lich/Sister of Parvos weapon reject list will now reset if you reject every possible weapon.
    • In the meantime, even if you reject all the list will only reset when you pick a weapon. 
  • Due to the new  The New War Somachord Tones needing a code fix after we had already sent the update to Cert, they will be coming in the next future Cert build.
  • Fixed a certain character’s Orvius toss being titled ‘Rip Line’. It is now titled ‘Orvius Reach’.
  • Fixed Galvanized Mod “bonus Damage per Status” not functioning for numerous projectile weapons.
    • A previous change had them operate relative to “base damage” but the code was incorrectly getting base damage from the impact behavior rather than the projectile. This problem was pervasive and there are hundreds of weapons in our game! Please be patient and send updated reports if something slipped through our net.
    • On that note, we’re aware and investigating a fix for Galvanized Crosshairs not granting bonus Critical Chance on Athodai headshot kills.
  • Fixed an improbable crash that could occur in ultra-rare cases while Hosting.
  • Fixed a progression stopper in the Sister of Parvos Showdown fight where Client enemy Hounds remained indefinitely after Mercying.
  • Fixed getting a black screen when a Client enters the Railjack Slingshot of the Host player.
  • Fixed heavy spot-loading on opening Contracts menu in Ticker’s shop.
  • Fixed various cases of Transference allowing you to clip through the level.
  • Fixed seeing a PH name for a squadmates Hound if you joined the mission in progress.
  • Fixed losing the HUD when equipping Shawzin at the same time as K-Drive.

THE NEW WAR IS NOW REPLAYABLE!

Experience The New War Quest once more, Tenno! Access The New War Quest in the Codex to Replay. Please note with this implementation the Replay is a full time commitment and you will be locked into the Quest as you were in the first run, so plan accordingly.

This quest has significant Spoilers for Warframe and its future. While The New War has been out since December 15th, there are still Tenno out there who have yet to experience it for the first time.   • Test Cluster change: Yareli’s Surging Blades Augment can now build its damage bonus from hits made by throwing the blade, instead of only hits made by the ones that circle around her. It now costs extra energy to throw the Aquablade as a ranged attack, but this is negated if you are riding Merulina.

ADVERSARY WEAPON GENERATION – QUALITY OF LIFE CHANGE

As the pool of Adversary weapons grows and your checklist fills out, the natural chance of finding a Progenitor (Larvling or Candidate) with the exact weapon you desire shrinks. This Adversary Weapon Generation Quality of Life change is meant to reduce randomness over time of what weapon a Progenitor Candidate (Sister) or Larvling (Kuva Lich) can spawn with.

How it works:
By skipping a Progenitor (choosing not to Mercy them) the spawned weapon is then put into a ‘reject’ pile for that round of Adversary generation, meaning that it will not appear again and ultimately reducing the weapon pool each time you ‘reject’.

The list of rejected weapons is cleared once you accept an Adversary and the process would start again from a clean slate for both Sister or Kuva Lich the next time you go looking for an Adversary. This list clearing applies to both Sister and Kuva Lich, meaning once the chosen Adversary is Converted or Vanquished, the list clears for both factions.

Our TennoBaum celebrations look a little different this year! Due to factors including The New War’s December launch, we have opted to merge this year’s TennoBaum & Star Days together in the month of February.

GENERAL ADDITIONS:

  • Added a tooltip to the Vox Solaris Quest to indicate that you can use your Secondary weapon on the K-Drive.
  • New Thumper variants have been added to the Post-New War Plains of Eidolon! By selecting the Narmer Bounty you’ll find these Thumpers ambiently patrolling the Plains.
    • Their drop table matches that of its counterpart. 

OPTIMIZATIONS:

  • Upgraded our compiler and have seen small optimizations across the entire codebase for a faster Warframe experience. We anticipate this to have no noticeable stability changes but we request Tenno report any oddities they encounter.
  • Made a micro-optimization to the Codex.
  • Made several general optimizations.
  • Made numerous optimizations towards the Infested Corpus Ship tileset.
  • Optimized away a few single-frame hitches and potentially fixed a rare crash.
  • Made numerous optimizations towards the Defense arena in the Grineer Settlement tileset.
  • Fixed a minor hitch every time a player jumped into K-Drive, Necramech, or Operator.
  • Made micro-optimizations to Navigation startup.
  • Fixed crashes and excessive performance hitches when Grendel consumed an exorbitant amount of enemies and proceeded to vomit them out (90+ enemies). In the name of performance, we’ve added a limit of 40 enemies that can be eaten by Grendel at any given time, and spread out the vomiting of large numbers of enemies.
    • Test Cluster crash report/fix.

REFLECTION PROBE CHANGES:
We rebuilt reflections across the entire game when Enhanced Graphics Engine is enabled to use modern high quality texture format which improves the quality and punch of gold, bronze, chrome, and other metallics. This change reduces the noise, makes them more vibrant, and ultimately more balanced overall. A lot to visually enjoy during your replay of The New War!

UI CHANGES:

  • Hold onto your seats: we’ve converted all Arsenal Screen rectangle icons to squares. This applies to places like the Arsenal, Operator, and Codex which previously used rectangular icons.
    • To provide some Dev insight: At the moment, we have literally thousands of duplicated icons. Each item had to support both displaying as a rectangle and as a square, but now that everything has been converted to squares, all the rectangle icons are soon to be deleted. Which will reduce the game file size once we hit the big delete button – stay tuned on that! In the meantime, if you see anything funky with icons (squished/stretched/cropped etc) please let us know.
  • The Options menu has been reworked to bring some new and reorganize the old! This is the beginning of our broader Options menu rework efforts that will continue in a near future Update, stay tuned!

    • NEW: Accessibility options now have their own tab! You’ll find respective VIDEO and INTERFACE accessibility options now live here.
    • GAMEPLAY has been renamed to SYSTEM, and CHAT has been renamed to SOCIAL.
      • Moved all networking related options to System under a Network header
      • Moved all friend/gift/party request options to Social under a Privacy header
      • Moved all chat channel options to Social under a Chat header
      • Moved all chat appearance options to Social under a Chat Appearance header
  • DISPLAY has been renamed to VIDEO.
    • Added 3 new headers: Display, Graphics, and Advanced. Respective options have been moved within the headers.
  •  Added 3 new headers to the AUDIO tab: Sound, Sound Mixer, and Voice. Respective options have been moved within the headers.
  • Added 1 new heade to the INTERFACE tabr: User Interface (alongside HUD). Respective options have been moved within the headers.
    • Moved “Item Labels” into the “Customize UI Theme” screen.

ORB VALLIS CONSERVATION CHANGE:
In addition to the already existing Conservation method of Trail & Tranq, all species of animal on Orb Vallis can now be found ambiently in the wild! (Bolarola, Sawgaw, Kubrodon, Horrasque, Stover, Pobber, Vermink). Due to the endangered nature of the species, the rarest subspecies will still need to be tracked down by following their trails.
GENERAL CHANGES:

  • New Sky/Atmospheric technology brings a physically-plausible simulation based on time of day. Enhancing the atmospheric experience to feel more immersive and accurate when a time of day is represented.
  • Improved visuals within the Cambion Drift landscape by comprehensive efforts to have less competing emissive values on foliage. This can be attributed to reduced spore particles and reduction in the overall red color theme.

  • Enemy reinforcements will now spawn more frequently during the Drone Hijack mission in the Plains of Eidolon Bounty to reduce down-time and increase density of enemies to defend from while running alongside the Drone.
    • Simple reasoning here is to bring a bit more intensity to this Bounty to have your escorting efforts feel valued. 
  • Enemy reinforcements will now spawn more frequently in Exterminate and Assassinate missions in Plains of Eidolon Bounties.
    • Additionally, reinforcements that spawn in caves will now be more inclined to chase the player, instead of just patrolling idly without a care in the world. 
  • Unified the drop rate of each house’s MK II and MK III weapons dropped from Corpus Crewships in Pluto Proxmia and Corpus Veil Proxima regions to Uncommon (12.50%).
    • Previously the Talyn and Vort MK III were Legendary drops with a 0.65% chance, while the others were Uncommon at a 24.35% drop chance. Vort and Talyn MK II were Rare with a 5.64% chance, while the others were Uncommon with 19.36%. Instead of having certain weapons in the same tier level weighing more than others in terms of rarity, there is now a far more equal drop chance across each weapon. 
  • Railjack Crew Kuva Liches and Sisters of Parvos can now Revive players and Crew!
  • Lavos’ Vial Rush has been slightly changed in the name of performance. When casting Vial Rush zones from previous Vial Rush are removed but deal a one time damage proportional to their remaining duration.
  • You can now replace an existing Arrival Gate in your Dojo should you choose to.
  • Amped up Nechramech summon FX and added summon animations.
  • Improved Bow animation movement to better match sprint turn speed.
  • Made some lighting updates to the Grineer Sealab tileset.
  • Updated the Orbiter Arsenal floor to make collision more accurate.
  • Improved frequency of rare tiles that almost never appear in some Grineer Shipyard tileset mission types.
  • Softened the look of hair/fur while using the Enhanced Graphics Engine option (Temporal AA remains unchanged). Refined look to the shading.
  • Adjusted the Ogris and Kuva Ogris Nightwatch Napalm FX to be cleaner and use energy color consistently.
  • Added Zarr alt-fire FX.
  • Improved the colors in the waterfall FX in the Grineer Forest tileset.
  • Changed Oberon’s Passive description from ‘buff’ to ‘link’ since allied companions stats are calculated based on Oberon’s.
  • Made improvements and fixes to out-of-bounds & AI pathing in the Grineer Shipyards tileset.
  • Increased the variety and randomization of the Cambion Drift underground tunnels to give the space a more lively feel.
  • The Amalgam Furax Body Count Mod now applies a Blast proc and Stagger on Melee kills.
    • The original Mod description stated that “Melee kills knockdown enemies within 15m” but that functionality has been missing in-mission since Blast Status was changed in Update 27.2 to no longer knockdown enemies . In addition to the Blast Status, we have also added the stagger to restore its original function pre-Status overhaul. We have also updated the description to be more accurate to the Mod’s function. 
  • Added locations for Gems, Ores, and their derived types to their descriptions.
  • Enemies will no longer throw grenades at adjacent walls when trying to hit an out-of-sight target.
  • Toned down the brightness of Revenant’s Mesmer Skin FX. It will also now be hidden while in Archwing.
  • Removed Parazon Finisher prompt on flying enemies, since they have to be grounded to become eligible for said Finisher.
  • Added animations when performing Parazon Finishers on Crawlers.
  • Converted the following weapons when used by enemies to PBR:
    • Glaxion
    • Jat Kittag
    • Vulkar
    • Supra
  •  Improved how Pobbers and Kuakas handle sloped terrain.
  • Gas City door scanners are now more lenient and their trigger has been narrowed.
  • Using the Arsenal will now mute background dialog from NPCs and Pets.
  • Gyre Elite Outrider now correctly drops Zekti MK II weapons again.
  • Removed Trading eligibility for the Korumm.
  • Made improvements to lip sync animations and eyeball materials for the Operator.
  • Reduced the volume of electricity Status Effect sounds.
  • Reduced jump exertion sound interval for a post-NW character.
  • Elite Outriders now drop the same Mods as regular Outriders in Railjack missions (in addition to the Wreckage they already drop).
  • Added a ‘Narmer’ category to the Simulacrum Spawner screen.
  • Reskinned the Captura Settings UI screen to provide an updated look!
  • A continuation of the ongoing UI Reskin efforts.

CAPTURA FIXES:

  • Scaled-down the Captura controls list to cover less screen space.
  • Fixed not being able to fine-tune the exposure setting in the Plains of Eidolon Captura Scene.
  • Fixed your Warframe’s orientation quickly changing whenever the Captura Lighting Colour settings are changed.
  • Fixed some text overlap in longer languages in Captura screens.

NEW WAR REPLAY FIXES
Thanks to everyone who participated in our Public Test Weekend for New War replay functionality (and possibly first-time Quest runs)! Over 200 testers shared their reports spanning the entire New War quest. We’ve done our best to focus on the larger issues, and those that affected replay functionality, in time for this mainline release. We have you to thank for the following issues being resolved:

  • Fixed misaligned Railjack when entering from Archwing during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed your Companion appearing in a cutscene in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed holding a light incorrectly during certain parts of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed being in your default customizations in certain moments during the final mission of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a group of Brachiolysts missing some of their Health in the first mission of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed an infinite loading screen during a pivotal transition moment during The New War Quest.

We still have a number of reports that are being investigated, so expect more improvements to trickle in during future Hotfixes if they are not code!

  • Polished numerous animations in The New War Quest.
  • Another post-New War Quest item is available in Simaris’ Offerings for those who sell theirs.
  • Removed and lowered the volume of some character exertion sounds in The New War Quest.
  • Cinematic polish towards a scene in The New War Quest.
  • Little Duck has a new Offering (Captura Scene related to the Quest) for those who have completed The New War Quest!
  • Fixed a crash during The New War Quest related to respawning during a certain stage.
  • Fixed a crash during The New War Quest related to dying right when a certain enemy uses an ability.
  • Fixes towards facial animations in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur in The New War Quest after being Revived.
  • Fixed a progression stopper in The New War Quest if you completed a certain objective too fast.
  • Fixed wielding the wrong weapon during the first mission of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a ‘Skip Cinematic’ popup appearing but not functioning if you button mashed on a controller during a specific part during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed callouts for the “Ascend” phase being incorrect in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a post-New War weapon being in the wrong Mastery Profile category.
  • Fixed a script error in a post-New War Bounty.

  • Fixed Harrow Prime to be compatible with Helminths Invigoration system. Please note that this will only affect new Invigoration offerings. If you already had a current offering for the original Harrow then it will remain invalid for the Prime. We are making changes to the way we introduce Prime Warframes to Helminth to try and prevent this problem from happening in the future.
  • Fixed running out of energy in Razorwing while in Operator results in Titania being permanently small and breaks movement.
  • Fixed a boss Health bar appearing above a character during the Second Dream.
  • Fixed broken textures on the Vasca Kavat fur.

    • Please note that due to changes in the way the Melee system works since this weapon was originally designed, you must be in “Exclusive melee mode” to use the Blind special attack. You can engage exclusive melee mode by holding down your Switch Weapons button. In this mode, your Aim button blocks with melee rather than instantly switching you back to a ranged weapon.
  • Fixed issues with Ash’s Bladestorm pausing if you ran far away from the targets during the stabbing.
  • Fixed Coildrive mesh lingering after completing the Ambush Bounty stage in high level Bounties in Orb Vallis.

Warframe Update 2.07 Patch Notes; Out for 31.1.0 Echoes of War This Feb. 9

Digital Extremes has released the Warframe update 2.07 patch, which is for the Echoes of War — the first mainline update of the year! This makes the New War replayable, as well offer loads of new cosmetics, and of course, gameplay changes. Read up on the official Warframe February 9 patch notes below.

Update 31.1.0 includes PC Hotfixes 31.0.2 – 31.0.11 and new Echoes of War content! The update is ~2.3 GB on PS4 and ~5.28 GB on PS5 (size variations are to be expected based on the ways in which the different systems operate).   

The year is 2022, and Digital Extremes is back with the first Mainline of the year.

Less than 2 months ago The New War Quest was launched on all platforms. Our ambitions to have Replay on launch didn’t make it in time, but we made it our top priority to have it ready for our first Update of 2022. There’s still no accurate words to describe our appreciation for all the support and reactions to The New War, and we hope you enjoy replaying it as many times as you wish!

  • Kuva Lich/Sister of Parvos weapon reject list will now reset if you reject every possible weapon.
    • In the meantime, even if you reject all the list will only reset when you pick a weapon. 
  • Due to the new  The New War Somachord Tones needing a code fix after we had already sent the update to Cert, they will be coming in the next future Cert build.
  • Fixed a certain character’s Orvius toss being titled ‘Rip Line’. It is now titled ‘Orvius Reach’.
  • Fixed Galvanized Mod “bonus Damage per Status” not functioning for numerous projectile weapons.
    • A previous change had them operate relative to “base damage” but the code was incorrectly getting base damage from the impact behavior rather than the projectile. This problem was pervasive and there are hundreds of weapons in our game! Please be patient and send updated reports if something slipped through our net.
    • On that note, we’re aware and investigating a fix for Galvanized Crosshairs not granting bonus Critical Chance on Athodai headshot kills.
  • Fixed an improbable crash that could occur in ultra-rare cases while Hosting.
  • Fixed a progression stopper in the Sister of Parvos Showdown fight where Client enemy Hounds remained indefinitely after Mercying.
  • Fixed getting a black screen when a Client enters the Railjack Slingshot of the Host player.
  • Fixed heavy spot-loading on opening Contracts menu in Ticker’s shop.
  • Fixed various cases of Transference allowing you to clip through the level.
  • Fixed seeing a PH name for a squadmates Hound if you joined the mission in progress.
  • Fixed losing the HUD when equipping Shawzin at the same time as K-Drive.

THE NEW WAR IS NOW REPLAYABLE!

Experience The New War Quest once more, Tenno! Access The New War Quest in the Codex to Replay. Please note with this implementation the Replay is a full time commitment and you will be locked into the Quest as you were in the first run, so plan accordingly.

This quest has significant Spoilers for Warframe and its future. While The New War has been out since December 15th, there are still Tenno out there who have yet to experience it for the first time.   • Test Cluster change: Yareli’s Surging Blades Augment can now build its damage bonus from hits made by throwing the blade, instead of only hits made by the ones that circle around her. It now costs extra energy to throw the Aquablade as a ranged attack, but this is negated if you are riding Merulina.

ADVERSARY WEAPON GENERATION – QUALITY OF LIFE CHANGE

As the pool of Adversary weapons grows and your checklist fills out, the natural chance of finding a Progenitor (Larvling or Candidate) with the exact weapon you desire shrinks. This Adversary Weapon Generation Quality of Life change is meant to reduce randomness over time of what weapon a Progenitor Candidate (Sister) or Larvling (Kuva Lich) can spawn with.

How it works:
By skipping a Progenitor (choosing not to Mercy them) the spawned weapon is then put into a ‘reject’ pile for that round of Adversary generation, meaning that it will not appear again and ultimately reducing the weapon pool each time you ‘reject’.

The list of rejected weapons is cleared once you accept an Adversary and the process would start again from a clean slate for both Sister or Kuva Lich the next time you go looking for an Adversary. This list clearing applies to both Sister and Kuva Lich, meaning once the chosen Adversary is Converted or Vanquished, the list clears for both factions.

Our TennoBaum celebrations look a little different this year! Due to factors including The New War’s December launch, we have opted to merge this year’s TennoBaum & Star Days together in the month of February.

Festive accessories from TennoBaum 2020 will return as part of Ticker’s Star Days offerings, and the TennoBaum tradition of donating will continue with a donation to a charity (to be announced on February 9) on behalf of the Warframe community.     • Their drop table matches that of its counterpart. 

OPTIMIZATIONS:

  • Upgraded our compiler and have seen small optimizations across the entire codebase for a faster Warframe experience. We anticipate this to have no noticeable stability changes but we request Tenno report any oddities they encounter.
  • Made a micro-optimization to the Codex.
  • Made several general optimizations.
  • Made numerous optimizations towards the Infested Corpus Ship tileset.
  • Optimized away a few single-frame hitches and potentially fixed a rare crash.
  • Made numerous optimizations towards the Defense arena in the Grineer Settlement tileset.
  • Fixed a minor hitch every time a player jumped into K-Drive, Necramech, or Operator.
  • Made micro-optimizations to Navigation startup.
  • Fixed crashes and excessive performance hitches when Grendel consumed an exorbitant amount of enemies and proceeded to vomit them out (90+ enemies). In the name of performance, we’ve added a limit of 40 enemies that can be eaten by Grendel at any given time, and spread out the vomiting of large numbers of enemies.
    • Test Cluster crash report/fix.

REFLECTION PROBE CHANGES:
We rebuilt reflections across the entire game when Enhanced Graphics Engine is enabled to use modern high quality texture format which improves the quality and punch of gold, bronze, chrome, and other metallics. This change reduces the noise, makes them more vibrant, and ultimately more balanced overall. A lot to visually enjoy during your replay of The New War!

UI CHANGES:

  • Hold onto your seats: we’ve converted all Arsenal Screen rectangle icons to squares. This applies to places like the Arsenal, Operator, and Codex which previously used rectangular icons.
    • To provide some Dev insight: At the moment, we have literally thousands of duplicated icons. Each item had to support both displaying as a rectangle and as a square, but now that everything has been converted to squares, all the rectangle icons are soon to be deleted. Which will reduce the game file size once we hit the big delete button – stay tuned on that! In the meantime, if you see anything funky with icons (squished/stretched/cropped etc) please let us know.
  • The Options menu has been reworked to bring some new and reorganize the old! This is the beginning of our broader Options menu rework efforts that will continue in a near future Update, stay tuned!

    • GAMEPLAY has been renamed to SYSTEM, and CHAT has been renamed to SOCIAL.

ORB VALLIS CONSERVATION CHANGE:
In addition to the already existing Conservation method of Trail & Tranq, all species of animal on Orb Vallis can now be found ambiently in the wild! (Bolarola, Sawgaw, Kubrodon, Horrasque, Stover, Pobber, Vermink). Due to the endangered nature of the species, the rarest subspecies will still need to be tracked down by following their trails.
GENERAL CHANGES:

  • New Sky/Atmospheric technology brings a physically-plausible simulation based on time of day. Enhancing the atmospheric experience to feel more immersive and accurate when a time of day is represented.
  • Improved visuals within the Cambion Drift landscape by comprehensive efforts to have less competing emissive values on foliage. This can be attributed to reduced spore particles and reduction in the overall red color theme.

  • Enemy reinforcements will now spawn more frequently during the Drone Hijack mission in the Plains of Eidolon Bounty to reduce down-time and increase density of enemies to defend from while running alongside the Drone.
    • Simple reasoning here is to bring a bit more intensity to this Bounty to have your escorting efforts feel valued. 
  • Enemy reinforcements will now spawn more frequently in Exterminate and Assassinate missions in Plains of Eidolon Bounties.
    • Additionally, reinforcements that spawn in caves will now be more inclined to chase the player, instead of just patrolling idly without a care in the world. 
  • Unified the drop rate of each house’s MK II and MK III weapons dropped from Corpus Crewships in Pluto Proxmia and Corpus Veil Proxima regions to Uncommon (12.50%).
    • Previously the Talyn and Vort MK III were Legendary drops with a 0.65% chance, while the others were Uncommon at a 24.35% drop chance. Vort and Talyn MK II were Rare with a 5.64% chance, while the others were Uncommon with 19.36%. Instead of having certain weapons in the same tier level weighing more than others in terms of rarity, there is now a far more equal drop chance across each weapon. 
  • Railjack Crew Kuva Liches and Sisters of Parvos can now Revive players and Crew!
  • Lavos’ Vial Rush has been slightly changed in the name of performance. When casting Vial Rush zones from previous Vial Rush are removed but deal a one time damage proportional to their remaining duration.
  • You can now replace an existing Arrival Gate in your Dojo should you choose to.
  • Amped up Nechramech summon FX and added summon animations.
  • Improved Bow animation movement to better match sprint turn speed.
  • Made some lighting updates to the Grineer Sealab tileset.
  • Updated the Orbiter Arsenal floor to make collision more accurate.
  • Improved frequency of rare tiles that almost never appear in some Grineer Shipyard tileset mission types.
  • Softened the look of hair/fur while using the Enhanced Graphics Engine option (Temporal AA remains unchanged). Refined look to the shading.
  • Adjusted the Ogris and Kuva Ogris Nightwatch Napalm FX to be cleaner and use energy color consistently.
  • Added Zarr alt-fire FX.
  • Improved the colors in the waterfall FX in the Grineer Forest tileset.
  • Changed Oberon’s Passive description from ‘buff’ to ‘link’ since allied companions stats are calculated based on Oberon’s.
  • Made improvements and fixes to out-of-bounds & AI pathing in the Grineer Shipyards tileset.
  • Increased the variety and randomization of the Cambion Drift underground tunnels to give the space a more lively feel.
  • The Amalgam Furax Body Count Mod now applies a Blast proc and Stagger on Melee kills.
    • The original Mod description stated that “Melee kills knockdown enemies within 15m” but that functionality has been missing in-mission since Blast Status was changed in Update 27.2 to no longer knockdown enemies . In addition to the Blast Status, we have also added the stagger to restore its original function pre-Status overhaul. We have also updated the description to be more accurate to the Mod’s function. 
  • Added locations for Gems, Ores, and their derived types to their descriptions.
  • Enemies will no longer throw grenades at adjacent walls when trying to hit an out-of-sight target.
  • Toned down the brightness of Revenant’s Mesmer Skin FX. It will also now be hidden while in Archwing.
  • Removed Parazon Finisher prompt on flying enemies, since they have to be grounded to become eligible for said Finisher.
  • Added animations when performing Parazon Finishers on Crawlers.
  • Converted the following weapons when used by enemies to PBR:
    • Glaxion
    • Jat Kittag
    • Vulkar
    • Supra
  •  Improved how Pobbers and Kuakas handle sloped terrain.
  • Gas City door scanners are now more lenient and their trigger has been narrowed.
  • Using the Arsenal will now mute background dialog from NPCs and Pets.
  • Gyre Elite Outrider now correctly drops Zekti MK II weapons again.
  • Removed Trading eligibility for the Korumm.
  • Made improvements to lip sync animations and eyeball materials for the Operator.
  • Reduced the volume of electricity Status Effect sounds.
  • Reduced jump exertion sound interval for a post-NW character.
  • Elite Outriders now drop the same Mods as regular Outriders in Railjack missions (in addition to the Wreckage they already drop).
  • Added a ‘Narmer’ category to the Simulacrum Spawner screen.
  • Reskinned the Captura Settings UI screen to provide an updated look!
  • A continuation of the ongoing UI Reskin efforts.

CAPTURA FIXES:

  • Scaled-down the Captura controls list to cover less screen space.
  • Fixed not being able to fine-tune the exposure setting in the Plains of Eidolon Captura Scene.
  • Fixed your Warframe’s orientation quickly changing whenever the Captura Lighting Colour settings are changed.
  • Fixed some text overlap in longer languages in Captura screens.

NEW WAR REPLAY FIXES
Thanks to everyone who participated in our Public Test Weekend for New War replay functionality (and possibly first-time Quest runs)! Over 200 testers shared their reports spanning the entire New War quest. We’ve done our best to focus on the larger issues, and those that affected replay functionality, in time for this mainline release. We have you to thank for the following issues being resolved:

  • Fixed misaligned Railjack when entering from Archwing during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed your Companion appearing in a cutscene in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed holding a light incorrectly during certain parts of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed being in your default customizations in certain moments during the final mission of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a group of Brachiolysts missing some of their Health in the first mission of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed an infinite loading screen during a pivotal transition moment during The New War Quest.

We still have a number of reports that are being investigated, so expect more improvements to trickle in during future Hotfixes if they are not code!

  • Fixed a crash that could occur in The New War Quest after being Revived.
  • Fixed a progression stopper in The New War Quest if you completed a certain objective too fast.
  • Fixed wielding the wrong weapon during the first mission of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a ‘Skip Cinematic’ popup appearing but not functioning if you button mashed on a controller during a specific part during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed callouts for the “Ascend” phase being incorrect in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a post-New War weapon being in the wrong Mastery Profile category.
  • Fixed a script error in a post-New War Bounty.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when fighting a miniboss in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a rare soft-lock during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed getting stuck on a black screen when skipping a certain cinematic during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed matchmaking errors when attempting to join a pre-New War Open Zone from a post-New War Open Zone.
  • Fixed a post-New War ‘Cache Recover’ Bounty mission starting inside the base with objectives outside the base.
  • Fixed a momentary pop of gameplay before a cinematic triggered during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed an error at the end of The New War Quest that could result in visual discrepancies.
  • Fixed some missing Lotus VO/subtitles when replaying The War Within after completing The New War Quest.
  • Fixes towards Drone pathing issues in the Plains post New War completion.
  • Fixed flickering visuals at the mouth of a large vessel in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed some floating objects in the Plains after completing The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a progression stopper in the finale of The New War Quest.
  • Fixed inability to complete the Mastery Rank 24 Test if you had a certain post-New War thing equipped.
  • Fixed some black screens occurring during The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a New War Captura Scene doing unintentional damage to the Operator.
  • Fixed a “table” clipping issue when skipping a cinematic in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed for missing atmospheric FX in the Orb Vallis during The New War Quest.

  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur on the login screen if the previously logged in account was at a different The New War Quest stage.
  • Fixed Virtuous Arcanes not functioning for a post-The New War character.

  • Fixed incorrect Rescue Target Transmission name if you’ve completed The New War Quest.

  • Fixed broken elevator moment during The New War Quest if you died after completing a certain objective.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when loading into either Orb Vallis or Plains of Eidolon with a squad that contained players who had completed The New War Quest and some that had not.
  • Fixed inability to Public matchmake into the Cambion Drift if the squad contained players who had completed The New War Quest and some that had not.
  • Fixed multiple spots where the Drone could get stuck during its escort in the post-New War Plains of Eidolon.
  • Fixed a Fortuna Fragment spawning inside geometry after completing The New War Quest.
  • Fixed a script error when customizing a post-New War character.
  • Fixed instructions appearing prematurely during a moment in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed flicking FX on Plains of Eidolon Bounty Caches after completing The New War Quest.
  • Fixed post-New War ‘Anguish’ Set Mods having only 1 effect applied as opposed to the 2 listed.
  • Fixed a post-New War Set Mod bonus of “reduced damage while airborne” not being applied.
  • Fixed inability to “activate” a certain objective during The New War Quest if the timer runs out and you’re near said activation area.
  • Fixed not seeing your equipped post-New War character in your Profile.
  • Fixed wrong Inbox icon for a certain sender after completing The New War Quest.
  • Fixed functionality loss during the final mission in The New War Quest.
  • Fixed ability to start a Narmer Bounty in a pre-New War Plains session. This resulted in a handful of progression stoppers.
  • Fixed a softlock when attempting to customize a character in The New War Quest for the first time.
  • Fixed a Cache being buried in the terrain in the post-New War Plains.
  • Fixed Escort Drone attempting to path under a fallen tree in the post-New War Plains.
  • Fixed missing Lotus VO when replaying The War Within Quest after completing The New War Quest.
  • Fixed lingering lighting/FX in the Plains of Eidolon after completing The New War Quest.

  • Fixed Vaykor Sydon’s Radial Blind special attack not functioning.
    • Please note that due to changes in the way the Melee system works since this weapon was originally designed, you must be in “Exclusive melee mode” to use the Blind special attack. You can engage exclusive melee mode by holding down your Switch Weapons button. In this mode, your Aim button blocks with melee rather than instantly switching you back to a ranged weapon.
  • Fixed issues with Ash’s Bladestorm pausing if you ran far away from the targets during the stabbing.
  • Fixed Coildrive mesh lingering after completing the Ambush Bounty stage in high level Bounties in Orb Vallis.
  • Fixed ability to put Sydon Rivens on the Korumm.
  • Fixed inability to select Bloodshed Sigil Bundles after backing out.

  • Fixed join-in-progress players sometimes seeing Hounds with the default name and/or no body parts.
  • Fixed join-in-progress players sometimes seeing a Hound belonging to a different Sister than what everyone else sees.
  • Fixed a spot-load when the Hound of a player that joined in progress spawns.
  • Fixed another case of Data Keys not dropping from Orb Vallis Jailers, if a previous Drone Defense or Case Capture Bounty stage occurred approximately near the location you searched the body.

Star Trek Online Update 18.40 Patch Notes; Out for Fixes This Feb. 9

Cryptic Studios has released the Star Trek Online update 18.40 patch notes this February 9, and this one is for fixes and changes to the game. Check out the full patch notes below.

Star Trek Online Update 18.40 Patch Notes:

General:  

  • Resolved an issue that was preventing Discovery Captain from being able to complete the mission, “Escalation”.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing mission progression during the episode, “Dislodging Klingons”.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing a crash when attempting to open various reward packs.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the 12th Anniversary hyperlink to not display properly within the “What’s New” window.

We’re launching a special event with the Phoenix Prize Pack! Black Ops Cold War Update 1.028 Released This Feb. 9 (Update)

Treyarch has released the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update 1.028 patch for both last-gen and next-gen versions of the game. This file is available now as a pre-load on PlayStation platforms, and is expected to be installable later today. Don’t expect much from this, however, as it seems to focus on Zombies content, and new cosmetics.

Treyarch has not made any announcement regarding what changes are coming to today’s patch outside of mentioning it as part of the COD Vanguard Season 2 Zombies new content. Here’s the acknowledgement of the studio regarding Black Ops Cold War in the latest studio blog post:

We’ve been soaking up feedback throughout the past year of Black Ops Cold War and the launch of Vanguard, and the team has been hard at work on bringing new content and features to Zombies in the weeks, months, and years to come. While our latest incarnation in Vanguard takes an entirely new roguelike approach to the mode, we know our players also want the option to fight never-ending waves of zombies and grind weapon camos with no downtime between rounds.

LOOKING AHEAD…

If you’ve been paying attention to the narrative intel and conversations between our Dark Aether entities in Season One, you might have an idea of where we’re headed in Season Two. In addition to a new hub map located elsewhere on the globe, we’ll be taking players to multiple arenas, including the Dark Aether itself in a completely original location crafted for Vanguard Zombies.

There’s plenty more in the works for Season Two, including multiple Wonder Weapons, more survival gameplay, a new story quest, the introduction of a new Dark Aether entity, a new enemy type, new Objective gameplay, and more. We’re also already working on future Zombies content, and we’re not even done updating our roster of Operators in Black Ops Cold War…

In addition to that, there’s a double-double weekend incoming for Black Ops Cold War per Treyarch’s announcement:

EXTENDED DOUBLE-DOUBLE WEEKEND

In the spirit of 115 Day, we’re kicking off a four-day Double-Double Weekend in Black Ops Cold War starting this Friday at 10AM PT Jan. 14 through 10AM PT Tuesday, Jan. 18! This includes Double XP and Double Weapon XP in Zombies, and will run alongside an extended 2XP weekend in Vanguard and Warzone as well.

As a reminder, you’ll continue to earn player progression and Battle Pass progress across titles as you play, whether you’re slaying the undead in Black Ops or Vanguard Zombies this weekend. Have fun out there, and we’ll see you online.

As for the new cosmetics inbound for Black Ops Cold War, we suspect that the Vanguard and Warzone Season 2 new Operators will be available in Black Ops Cold War too! You can check out the new skins right here.

To date, Treyarch has not commented on today’s title update for Black Ops Cold War. However, given that Season 2 of Vanguard and Warzone are set to be released in a few days, chances are this patch is tied to it. If this patch is the same as the previous ones released, expect this title update to coincide with the new skins that will be available in Warzone and Vanguard, which we’re expecing to appear in Black Ops Cold War, too.

Expect the patch to be installable at 12noon ET/9 a.m. PT/1 a.m. HKT.

Dovetail Games has released the Train Sim World 2 update 1.68 patch this February 9, and this one is for various changes and fixes to the game across platforms! Check out the full patch notes below.

Train Sim World 2 Update 1.68 Patch Notes:

Today we are bringing updates to London Commuter and fixes to the introductions on Bakerloo Line, Koln Achen and Sand Patch Grade.

London Commuter

  • Fixed an issue on London commuter when spawning into a service you would experience a delay before being able to start. This resolves a significant amount of “Red Light” issues reported by the community.

Tharandter Rampe

  • Fixed instances where the game would crash when trying to play Tharandter Rampe if Nahverkehr Dresden was also installed on the Epic Games Store

Bakerloo Line

  • Fixed an issue with the doors on the Bakerloo Line introduction so that players are now able to complete it successfully without having to undertake an action which was not instructed.

Koln Aachen

  • Fixed an issue with the doors on the Koln Achen introduction so that players are now able to complete it successfully without having to undertake an action which was not instructed.
  • Added Contact Signaller functionality to trackside telephones.

Sand Patch Grade

  • Fixed the MU2A valve in the tutorial for the SD40-2 on Sand Patch Grade

The update will download automatically for owners when it becomes available. Players should allow at least 24 hours after restarting Steam, EPIC Game Store or their console for the update to appear and before contacting Customer Support.

Dark Souls PC Online Services to Be Resumed After Release of Elden Ring

Bandai Namco has finally released a statement of sorts with regards to the issues affecting the Dark Souls PC online services for the series, with the publisher noting that they are aware of the problems and are working on fixing it. However, due to the impending release of their next title, Elden Ring, it would seem that online on PC for the Dark Souls series will be unavailable until after the release of Elden Ring, as Bandai Namco are trying to make sure that the release of the latter goes as smoothly as possible.

Here is a brief rundown of Bandai Namco’s statement over on Twitter:

Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware are aware of the technical difficulties players have experienced with the Dark Souls suite of games on PC.

We want to thank the entire Dark Souls community and the players who have reached out to us directly to voice their concerns and offer solutions. Thanks to you, we have identified the cause and are working on fixing the issue.

In adition, we have extended the investigation to Elden Ring – our upcoming title launching on February 25th – and have made sure the necessary security measures are in place for the title on all target platforms.

Due to the time required to set up proper testing enviroments, online services for the Dark Souls series on PC will not resume until after the release of Elden Ring. We will continue to do everything we can to bring back these services as soon as possible.

We will make an announcment as soon as the schedule is determined for resuming online services. Please stay tuned to the Dark Souls social media channels for updates.

Once again, please allow us to share our thanks to you, our passionate community.

There you have it. As we have previously reported before, the Dark Souls series as well as Elden Ring are being affected by a remote control exploit on PC, and it makes perfect sense that Bandai Namco will prioritize getting Elden Ring up to speed due to its impending launch. Here’s hoping that fans of the Souls series on PC will get to play online in the near future, though, but in the meantime players can still play the game, albeit offline.

Elden Ring, the next FromSoftware title, is arriving this February 25 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Update 1.0.2 Released for Fixes

Nintendo has now released Pokemon Legends: Arceus update 1.0.2 today for the Nintendo Switch. It is the second patch released for the game following the day-one patch last month. Don’t get too excited because the February 8 patch does not come with any new content. The new patch this week is here to only fix some small bugs and issues with the game. You can read the full patch notes below.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Update 1.0.2 Patch Notes:

  • Fixed an issue where, while offline, the screen could freeze after trying to pick up a lost satchel by throwing out a ball that contains a Pokémon.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes made it difficult to catch Cherrim.
  • Fixed an issue where a certain event would not occur during a particular Mission, preventing the scenario from proceeding as intended.
  • Fixed an issue where players could obtain certain Pokémon twice instead of once only as intended, prohibiting the player from obtaining other certain Pokémon. The relevant Pokémon will appear for players who were unable to catch those certain Pokémon due to this issue.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

Take Two CEO: We Never Believed Single-Player Games Were Dead Unlike Our Competitors

Just a few years ago, remember when almost every game being released was being pushed with something to connect it to multiplayer? While some gamers and gaming companies might have thought that single-player games were going the way of the dinosaur in favor of “live-service” games, that hasn’t been the case (thankfully).

During Take-Two Interactive’s quarterly financial earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick talks about single-player games, and states that he doesn’t believe they’re dead, and feels that it will play a vital role in the company moving forward, However, Zelnick also believes that there are certain games that are meant to be multiplayer-only as well.

There was a time when a couple of our competitors were taking the position that single player was dead. We never took that position. We know that there’s a role for a single player. I believe there will be a role going forward. Then there are certain games that are meant to be only multiplayer experiences.

Rockstar is known for storytelling, and yes, Rockstar is also known for these fantastic open world experiences. They clearly do both really well. And the contract shows, as you just said that, consumers are really excited about Rockstar storytelling ability, and at the same time, we had a great quarter with Grand Theft Auto Online. So there’s a lot of excitement there. So the answer is sort of all of the above.

Mind you, this isn’t surprising to hear from Zelnick given how Take-Two’s main franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption are all recognized as being top quality, single-player games. That said, I feel that there will always be room for narrative-driven games, and it won’t be going away anytime soon — or at all.

Speaking of single-player games, in case you didn’t know, Rockstar Games announced that the next Grand Theft Auto game is in active development.

King of Fighters 15 Producer Says They Are Reviewing Character Roster Inclusion Requests From Fans

As SNK prepares to unleash the next installment in the King of Fighters saga with KOF15, Producer Yasuyuki Oda says that reviews for other characters is happening and that fan favorites like Kim Kaphwan are being considered.

In an interview with Korean site khgames that was translated online by Twitter user Gatoray, Oda has stated that the King of Fighters 15 team have been looking over various requests for characters like Kim to be included in the game.

“We will review requests for various characters including Kim during the planning process. As Kim is a highly popular character, we will do our best to make it a reality. Currently, the roster for the 1st year of has been finalized, additional characters will be determined later.”

As 40 characters have been confirmed to appear when the game launches later this month, KOF15 marks the return of several fan-favorite fighters who were killed off in previous installments, but have returned because of the new storyline that started with KOF14. Taekwondo fighter Kim Kaphwan has been a mainstay in the Fatal Fury and KOF games, but he is noticeably absent in KOF 15’s lineup and is not part of the DLC fighters that have been released thus far. We’ll just have to wait and see what SNK plans for its upcoming content for the game in future updates.

Psyonix has just pushed out Rocket League update 2.11 just now, but players shouldn’t expect much from it, there is no new content, and has been released to prepare the game for upcoming content.

Take-Two on GTA Trilogy: We Had Few Quality Lapses, Promises More Fixes on the Way

If you’ve been keeping tabs on gaming news at all, chances are you’ve already heard how much Rockstar bungled up the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (GTA Trilogy) with its litany of bugs, issues and other oddities that somehow made it into the remaster. This fact hasn’t escaped publisher Take-Two Interactive, which acknowledged the issues players faced in its latest quarterly earnings call.

Speaking to financial analysts during the Q&A segment, Take-Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick mentioned that the publisher is totally focused on quality, and said that GTA Trilogy is one of the “few quality lapses” the company has had. In addition to that, Zelnick also promised more fixes are on the way, which should delight GTA Trilogy owners.

 Thanks for the question. Yes. We are totally focused on quality here and we always want to deliver the best possible experience. Very occasionally, we fall short, and I think, The Trilogy was an example of that and the title was launched with some issues. We have addressed many of them. There are more fixes to come. Going forward, we remain highly focused on quality and we are exceedingly confident in all of our upcoming releases.

Later in the call when answering a question about the remaster, and if it had any impact on their business model of outsourcing, Strauss said:

We have had precious few quality lapses at this company. So any time that we have fallen short from a quality point of view, it has been an isolated case and we aim to keep it that way. However, we are not changing our business model.

Hopefully, this is one experience the company is taking to heart, as the GTA Trilogy really left a sour taste in both critics, and fans’ mouths alike. Despite receiving a couple of updates afterwards, the GTA Trilogy still has a long ways to go when it comes to fixes and optimizations.

NBA 2K22 Has 1.9 Million Gamers Playing Daily; Now at Over 8 Million Units Sold

With 2K Games’ NBA 2K franchise being the only game in town when it comes NBA basketball sim games, it looks like 2K Games — and parent company Take-Two Interactive — are raking it in when it comes to NBA 2K22’s daily active player base, and its sales.

During Take-Two’s quarterly financials report, the company announced that there are over 1.9 million players logging in to NBA 2K22 every day. Not only that, the publisher also announced that NBA 2K22 has now sold over eight million units worldwide.

NBA 2K22 continued to exceed our expectations, and according to The NPD Group, it was the number one selling title in the U.S. across all new releases in calendar 2021. In addition, the game achieved a new franchise record for experiencing the largest number of users in the shortest amount of time. This performance helped solidify NBA 2K’s legacy as the top basketball simulation experience in our industry, with over 8 million units sold in to-date worldwide.

Players remain deeply engaged and an average of 1.9 million users are playing the game every day, which is up 10% compared to NBA 2K21 in the same period last year. This helped drive better than expected recurrent consumer spending growth of 10% year-over-year, even as we faced challenging comparisons from the Gen 9 launch of the game last November.

Will EA step on the court and revive its NBA Live franchise to take some a piece of that pie? While NBA 2K players have been vocal for years in how much microtransactions have been pushed in each yearly iteration, there’s literally no other game in town. With that fact in mind, it seems 2K Games can do whatever it wants, and NBA fans will have no choice but to accept it if they want to play as their favorite NBA athlete.

Rogue Company In-Game Ads Being Pushed Out in Exchange for Reputation Points

In a bid to entice players to get more Reputation, First Watch Games have implemented the Rogue Company in-game ads via Simulmedia, allowing interested gamers to watch advertisements in exchange for that elusive Reputation. The developers have shared more details on this interesting new way for players to increase their in-game currency, and you can read more on it below.

Announced yesterday via a post on the official site, here are more details on the in-game ads for Rogue Company:

In Year 2, we have implemented a new feature to give players the option to watch ads in-game to earn additional Reputation. However, we know you probably have some questions or concerns about this, so we want to be transparent and upfront with you:

  • This feature is completely optional. Players who would like to earn Reputation via this new feature will need to click the new “Earn FREE Rewards” button on the Home screen and opt-in before the ad will begin playing.
  • If you do not want to opt-in, you will never see an ad and your Rogue Company experience will be the same as always. We will never add forced or unskippable ads to Rogue Company.
  • Ads are the same quality that you would see on TV or another video service provider or streaming platform.
  • If you choose to watch an ad, you will always be rewarded. Every ad watched will award 75 Reputation.
  • Simulmedia is not available on the Nintendo Switch.
  • This feature will be coming to PS5 soon!

One of the most important points emphasized is that this feature is completely optional. Ads have always been a contentious talking point in gaming, especially for free-to-play games, and as such it will be a very controversial move regardless of the studio’s intentions.

It also remains to be seen if enough players will find that 75 reputation enticing enough to watch ads for. Some users on Reddit have pointed out that the studio have done some changes to the Reputation payout system which will drive players to watch ads instead, a decision which is now being criticized.

PS4 & PS5 Software Betas Rolling Out Tomorrow, Here Are the New Features

Sony is rolling out a PS4 and PS5 software betas that can be tested out by selected participants, and it’ll introduce new features! While the software updates for both consoles will be available later this year, Sony has been kind enough to let us know what kind of new features their consoles can do later this year.

PS4 & PS5 New Features via Feb. 8 Beta:

New Party Chat Options 

In response to community feedback, we’ve made some updates to the Parties system:

  • Open and Closed Parties (PS5 and PS4 betas)
    • When you start a party, you can now select either an open party or a closed party:
      • An open party lets your friends see and join the party without an invite. Friends of party members can also join.
      • A closed party is only for players you invite.
    • Note: in Game Base on PS5 and Party on PS4, if you select [Open Party] when starting a party, only players using the beta version of the PS5 or PS4 system software will be able to join. To start a party that players who aren’t using the beta version can also join, select [Closed Party].
  • Voice chat reporting feature update (PS5 beta)
    • If you want to report something that someone in a party said, there are now visual indicators for you to identify who was speaking. This will help PlayStation Safety take appropriate action based on your report. You can learn more about this feature here.
  • Share Play update (PS5 beta)
    • Start Share Play directly from the voice chat card. You no longer need to start Share Screen first to use Share Play.
  • Voice chat volume (PS4 beta)
    • You can now individually adjust the voice chat volume of each player in a party on PS4, just like on PS5.

PS5 Game Base Enhancements

  • Voice chats are now called parties. For easier access, we’ve divided the Game Base menu into three tabs: Friends, Parties and Messages.
  • From the Game Base control menu and cards, you can now:
    • View all your friends under the [Friends] tab in the control menu, or access the player search feature and friend requests through links on this tab.
    • Add a player to a group or create a new group directly from Game Base in the Control Center. You can also send text messages, quick messages, images, video clips, and view a group’s shared media from this card.
  • When someone in a party is sharing their screen, you’ll now see the (on air) icon.
  • We’ve made it easier to decline friend requests by adding a [Decline] button to your friend request list.

New PS5 UI Features

  • Filter by genre
    • We’ve added an option to filter your game collection by genre, letting you quickly find specific types of game experiences.
  • Keep in Home

New Accessibility Features

  • More Screen Reader languages
    • Screen Reader, which reads aloud on-screen text and provides spoken guidance for operating the console, is now supported in six additional languages: Russian, Arabic, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, and Korean.
    • This expands Screen Reader support to 15 languages, including the current ones (United States English, United Kingdom English, Japanese, Italian, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French and Canadian French).
  • Mono audio for headphones
    • You can now enable mono audio for headphones so the same audio is played from both the left and right headphones, instead of a stereo or 3D audio sound mix. This feature provides an added option to enhance the PS5 audio experience, particularly for players with unilateral hearing loss.**
  • Check marks for enabled settings
    • You can now show a check mark on enabled settings so you can easily see that they’re turned on.

Voice Command (Preview): U.S. and U.K. limited release

  • We’re also testing a feature that enables voice commands for finding and opening games, apps, and settings, as well as controlling media playback on the PS5 console.
  • This feature is currently available in English for beta participants with accounts registered to the U.S. and U.K. 
  • To get started, enable Voice Command (Preview) from the Settings menu. Then, call out “Hey, PlayStation!” and ask your PS5 console to find a game, open an app or setting, or control playback while enjoying a movie, TV show or song.
  • You can help us improve the feature through our feedback program, which will sometimes record your voice commands (in accordance with our Privacy Policy) and let you provide instant feedback from time to time. You can turn this feature off at any time within system settings (see above). This feature never records audio for child accounts.
  • We’re in an early testing phase for this feature and will be closely assessing it and listening to your feedback throughout the beta. For more details, check out this page.

Morbid Metal Trailer Slashes to Show New, Action-Packed Rogue-lite

A new action-packed rogue-lite is coming soon to PC, with a solo developer showing off the first Morbid Metal trailer filled with amazing graphics and tons of action! Check out the trailer below, as well as some details on this new rogue-lite title coming to Steam.

Developed by a sole developer named Felix Schade, Morbid Metal is an action packed rogue-lite, in which players can shapeshift between 4 different characters in real-time, all with unique active abilities and stylish attacks. Here are some of the features of the game as per its Steam page:

Players progress through stunning, semi-procedurally generated levels, fighting through hoardes of enemies and powerful bosses in various environmental biomes, ranging from desolate wastelands of the far future to the overgrown ruins of mankind.

Battlefield 2042 Petition Calling for Refunds Gains Steam, Over 30K Signees

A new Battlefield 2042 petition has surfaced seeking publisher EA to open up their refund policy on the beleaguered shooter. The petition claims that the title has cost millions of dollars in consumer damages., and at the time of this publication, has already amassed over 30,000 signatures!

Over on Change.org, a new petition issued to EA, along with Sony, Microsoft, Steam, and the FTC, demands the company and storefronts to expands their refund policy given the current state of Battlefield 2042. The shooter is being compared to the disastrous launch that CyberPunk 2077 had back in 2020, and players are seeking storefronts and EA to offer a similar refund period that CD Projekt Red had for their title. The petition is asking for at least 50,000 signatures before they take it to a class-action lawyer for review.

Their message reads:

EA’s release of Battlefield 2042 was a mockery of every customer who purchased this video game for $70 (USD) due to EA’s false advertising.
Battlefield 2042 has cost consumers millions of dollars in damages and upset thousands of customers worldwide.

According to many consumer reports, Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable. Even today, Battlefield 2042 has bugs that drastically change the in-game experience so much that it’s deemed an unfinished release by many community members.
In fact, Battlefield 2042 was so poorly made that even Steam, a highly reputable provider of PC video games, allows customers to get a full refund.

Signing this petition will get you one step closer to getting a refund on Battlefield 2042. Suppose this petition receives 50K signatures or more. In that case, one of the best class-action lawsuit lawyers in the country is willing to take our case against EA.
Signing this petition is the equivalent of saying, “I wish I got a refund on this game.”

Please sign this petition if you feel you deserve a refund for Battlefield 2042.

The gaming community should not tolerate this abuse and bullying from multi-billion dollar corporations who make unfinished games and false advertisements.

While nothing may come out of this like many other petitions, for those who were disappointed and were unable to get a refund due to some of the storefronts’ strict policies, this may be an opportunity to change that.

Battlefield 2042 launched in November of 2021 and was panned almost universally by critics and fans. Despite that, however, DICE, and supporting studios have been vocal as of recent about continuing support on the game, and to bring it up to the full potential that fans were hoping for.

The next big Battlefield 2042 update, which was originally slated for this month, has been pushed back to March so the team could improve its quality.

With that said, what’s everyone’s thoughts on this? While Steam makes refunding streamline, other platform such as PlayStation Network and Xbox Live aren’t quite as easy to get refunds.   • Streamer Mode
    • Players now have access to an audio option that disables copyrighted music in the game.
  • Stay Together
    • Ungrouped players can vote to “stay together” at the end of a run when they would have otherwise been split up.
  • Walker’s Ability Reworked
    • Added Incoming! which functions like Marked for Death.
      • Lowers the marked target’s damage dealt.
      • Accuracy on precision kills removed.
  • Increased the limit of decks allowed in the Deck Manager to 16 for each mode, previously 8.

    • Text-to-Speech now properly reads the practice options for Ridden in Fort Hope.

Dying Light 2 February 8 Update Released on PC for More Fixes

Patch 1.05 for PC is LIVE on Steam and EGS. We’ve added the following fixes. The remaining tweaks are being worked on. Thank you for your patience!

– Video presets settings improvements
– Game stability improvements

Console version of the game will be updated as soon as the patch will go through the submission process

That’s about it. For console owners, expect the patch soon, which we’re guessing is sometime this week since certification doesn’t take that long.

Dying Light  2 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S. It’s been well-received on PC so far, and even managed to snag over 270,000 concurrent players already.
