Battlefield 2042 Update 1.03 Released for Fixes This November 18

DICE has released the Battlefield 2042 update 1.03 patch this November 18, which is the first client-side patch for the game. Given we’re still in early access phase, the actual day-one update should be out on November 19 when the game is formally released this November 19 on all platforms. There is a 60-minute maintenance period when the patch is released.

Battlefield 2042 Update 1.03 Patch Notes | BF2042 Update 1.03 Patch Notes:

Unfortunately, this is not the big day-one patch that fixes a ton of in-game bugs, or adds a proper scoreboard and whatnot. DICE has announced what the patch is for, and it fixes “critical issues” identified in the game at the start of the early access period, though there are gameplay-related fixes in this. Here are the full patch notes:

Update 0.2.1

Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

  • Implemented Server Side upgrades that are targeted at reducing instances of Rubber Banding, often experienced in the later part of a round in All-Out Warfare modes.
  • Significantly reduced instances of stuttering when playing on Breakaway. If the Silo’s are destroyed, it should no longer reduce performance on the server.
    • A note that we are continuing to investigate similar occurrences that have been reported to us on other maps.
  • When looking at allies on your team, their names will now correctly display.
  • Adjusted the animations for Falck during the End of Round sequence to ensure that she is displayed correctly.
  • Updated a skin earnable for Boris via Mastery Progression with a new name: Gator.
  • Ensured that TDM Rounds in Battlefield Portal always start with Random Deploy set as active. We observed that this sometimes wasn’t active when moving from round to round, but have now fixed this.
  • Applied a set of measures that ensure the correct number of AI spawn in Custom Battlefield Portal modes using the Free for All preset.
  • PC Only – Enabled Specialist Selection in Hazard Zone via mouse interaction, removing the need to lock in your selection with the Spacebar.
  • Fixed a rare occurrence in Hazard Zone that would sometimes cause the End of Round flow to not activate correctly, ensuring that the correct amount of bonus XP was awarded.
  • Repaired an issue found in Hazard Zone that could cause players to be shown on the Map when they were not visible, or spotted.

For the full list of known issues includes weapon, map and more, check out the official list by EA.

DICE has also shared that there are two more updates scheduled within the next 30 days, which includes balance changes, qualtiy-of-life enhancements, and more.

Pearl Abyss has released the Black Desert Online update 2.07 patch this November 18 and this is mostly to mitigate crashes for the game. There are other front-facing changes, but there’s not a lot. Check out the full patch notes below.

Black Desert Online Update 2.07 Patch Notes:

Adventurers,

As mentioned last week in this notice , a patch has been released that is a step in addressing the crash issues and help optimize the game play environment.

Changes applied
● Memory usage of some translation data has been optimized
● Memory usage of font textures has been optimized.
●Added the option for players to manually remove some of the data stored in memory regarding other players. This option can be added to the Ring Menu.
– This function should allow a smoother game process when leaving heavily crowded areas such as towns/cities and World Boss areas.
– This function can be used through the Ring Menu. Go to the start menu>Settings> Ring Menu Settings and add [Memory Optimizer] to the ring menu.

If you are currently connected to Black Desert, you will need to restart your game in order to download the update.

For adventurers already in-game, you will need to turn off the game and check for updates on your console.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the issues recently affecting the game, and will continue to improve the stability of the service.

Thank You

Dying Light Is the “Best and Worst” for VR Says Techland; Discusses VR for First Game

While zombie games might be one of the first genres people think of when they want to play a game in VR (virtual reality), it seems that won’t be happening to the Dying Light franchise anytime soon.

Speaking to MP1st, we asked Lead Game Designer at Techland, Tymon Smektala about the possibility of tying the game with virtual reality, augmented reality and the like. Smektala talks about motion sickness, and how the franchise is the “best and worst” game for virtual reality.

MP1st: It might be a weird fit, but you kind of have to wonder with every game coming out these days, have you considered any sort of virtual reality, augmented reality application for the franchise?

Smektala: Dying Light is best game for virtual reality, but also the worse game for virtual reality. This is a game that’s meant, as I said before, this is a game meant to draw you into this world, a game meant to immerse in it totally. So of course, it kind of makes sense with virtual reality, which adds to the immersion in extreme ways, but also this is a game about moving very fast and doing very crazy acrobatics stunts.

This is what is historically problematic with VR, because when people start playing that game, they start feeling motion sickness and all of that stuff. Even for the first game we had a version of Dying Light running on VR. It was really amazing for the first five to ten minutes, you really felt you are in this city surrounded by infected around you. But after those five and ten minutes of playing it was a really hard time for a lot of people, so we said maybe that’s not it. Maybe at some point we will branch off and do something with the IP that makes sense for the VR, but again, nothing like that is happening at this point because we are focusing on the release of Dying Light 2 Stay Human.

While not officially released, there is a way to play Dying Light on VR using the Oculus Rift. There’s more to it than just loading the game, and you can read more about that here.

In the same interview, Smektala told MP1st that there is “ZERO” chance that Dying Light 2 will be delayed past its February 4, 2022 release date. Stay tuned to our full interview with Techland hitting the site soon.

DICE Fixes Battlefield 2042 Dozer Exploit, but a New Wall Phase One Surfaces

While Battlefield 2042 isn’t officially out yet outside of early access, there are exploits already spotted in the game. One such exploit is from Specialist Dozer and his SOB-8 Ballistic Shield, with DICE disabling his ability in order to investigate it.

Over on the official Battlefield Direct Twitter, DICE announced that the SOB-8 Shield was re-enabled in his loadout, and was rolled out via a server-side update:

While this exploit being fixed is good news, it seems another one has been unearthed, and this one lets Dozer phase through walls! Check it out in action here:

You can phase through walls using Dozer’s shield by sitting in a corner and changing your settings
byu/I_W_H_B_Y_D inbattlefield2042

Granted, this bug seems to be for PC-only, but even still, it is still a big exploit that can ruin the fun for gamers. Hopefully, DICE can take action on this and fix it ASAP.

Speaking of issues that needs fixing, DICE has confirmed that the rubberbanding issue players are experiencing is something from their end, and are working on fixing it as well. If you know of any other exploits and whatnot in the game, send us an email, so we can report on it and let the BF2042 community know about it too.

Battlefield 2042 will be released officially this November 19 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and we’re hoping that a host of more fixes are set to drop on that day, too.

Battlefield 2042 Down – “Unable to Load Persistence Data” Error Surfacing This November 17 (Update #2)

Just a few days ago, the Battlefield 2042 servers had some issues which DICE acnowledged. Unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 down reports are surfacing today from players, and it seems the most common error players are seeing is the “Unable to Load Persistence Data” report.

Battlefield 2042 Down Status This November 17:

Update #2: DICE has announced that the issue has been resolved for the connection issues today!

Update: DICE has acknowledged the issue!

We’ll update this post as more developments surface.

Multiple reports on the game’s subreddit have surfaced from players stating the same thing:

Unable to load persistence data
by inbattlefield2042

And …… It’s Back Again
byu/HyperSamLive1 inbattlefield2042

For now, the official Battlefield Direct Twitter account has not acknowledged the issues just yet, though we’re expecting that to change in the next few minutes/hours. Outside of this persistence issue, DICE is also tackling the rubberbanding problems the game is suffering through, which the devs have admitted is from their end.

If Battlefield 2042 is working for you, let us know your platform and where you’re located, so other players are aware of what’s happening. Stay tuned for further developments, as we’ll be updating the post as more official news becomes available.

Elden Ring Technical Test Impressions – Accessible Souls

At this point, when FromSoftware has a game coming out, it’s an event. Fans and detractors alike can’t stop talking about them, and with From’s next game, Elden Ring, things are no different. Every single time From announces or shows off or releases a new game the same, tired argument, rears its ugly, obnoxious head that these games are exclusionary and not accessible to players who don’t want a challenge when they play a video game. Well, I have played the Network Test for 11 hours and I can safely say Elden Ring is the most accessible Soulsborne game to date.

Look. I get it. I avoided their games for years based on reputation alone – super hard, abstruse, and unforgiving. That never sounded like a good time to me. When Bloodborne released in 2015, I decided to give it a shot on a lark just to see how long I would stick with it. Well, I got the platinum and every trophy in the Old Hunters DLC and it wound up becoming my favorite game of all-time. After that, I went back and played Dark Souls II, Dark Souls, then Demon’s Souls. I bought Dark Souls III and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (also platinumed and did a no-deaths run) on day one and put countless hours into all of them since. I also loved BluePoint’s remake of Demon’s Souls (also platinumed — and you can read my review of the remake here) because it retained From’s gameplay and level design.

If the way things are presented in this technical test remains for the finished game, then Elden Ring is absolutely the most player-friendly game they have made. First of all, summoning is available right off the bat by having summoning items in the player’s inventory right away. Since this is an open world game, there are designated summoning pools that act like meet up spots for players that want to bring people together, and players can add their sign to the pool with an item. This means new players can ask for help and people can be called into their game right a away. There’s no barrier behind beating the tutorial boss or first area boss or having to find a vendor that sells you soap signs. So new players can call in willing help right away.

Then there is the fact that there are sections of the game that have tougher encounters where players will pass a Stake of Marika, which is a checkpoint of sorts for that area that should you die, you have the choice of respawning at the State of Marika or going back to the last Site of Grace (Elden Ring’s “bonfire” equivalent) that you rested at. This mitigates having to ride or run all the way back to the boss or area, and is a great quality of life solution. It also makes perfect sense for something like this in an open world version of From’s previous games. I used one in particular a few times because I died on a boss in the open world. I respawned at the Stake of Mariska, and I was back into the fight within seconds.

Another thing that makes this game much more approachable for players who have bumped up against these games is the Guard Counter. I will admit that for all my time in Souls games, I have never gotten “gud” at parrying. Sekiro was different because there was a sort of rhythm to it. But in Dark Souls and Bloodborne, I never felt I got the timing down to want to attempt it much. In Elden Ring parrying is still very much a thing but there is also the Guard Counter which is significantly easier to pull off. Instead of timing a parry in a small window, simply hold your shield up, take a hit from an enemy, and then immediately follow it up with a heavy attack. This will have the same effect as a successfully parry and stun the enemy leaving them open to a critical attack for massive damage. I’m not sure if it works on all enemies, but it definitely works on the regular soldiers, undead, etc.

From has also added the ability to fast travel from anywhere on the map. This seems like a no-brainer for anyone who plays other open world games, but it’s a significant change for From’s Soulsborne games. In Demon’s Souls you could only fast travel to Archstones from the Nexus, so that means you had to go back to the Nexus, approach the World stone you wanted to visit, then choose from there which Archstone you wanted to go to. In Dark Souls you couldn’t even fast travel until almost 2/3 of the way through the game. Prior to that you had to walk to and from every bonfire. And even with fast travel you had to still only do it while resting at a bonfire. Dark Souls II and III opened this up allowing you to travel between bonfires right away and Bloodborne had the same fast travel solution as Demon’s Souls: travel back to the main hub – in this case, Hunter’s Dream, and then go up to a tombstone and select which lantern you wanted to travel to. In case you can’t tell, this was not at all elegant or efficient. Having fast travel from anywhere in the world to a Site of Grace you’ve activated is a world of difference and takes a lot of the aggravation out of traveling all the way back to rest with thousands of Souls/Bloodechoes to spend.

Additionally, flask management has been made into its own risk reward system but can absolutely make the game easier if you’re willing to risk it. Beating a large group of enemies or a larger enemy will replenish your flasks. The larger the group or enemy, the more replenished it gets. This made staying alive in the open world exponentially easier.

Lastly, there are spirit ashes which are one time use per encounter summons on demand that allow you to summon a spirit (or spirits – depending on what’s equipped) to take the enemy’s attention away from you, allowing you to get hits in, backstab, or even heal. I tested this out on nearly every boss and it works insanely well, making many of the bosses trivial.

Not to mention things being added like the Spirit steed, Torrent that is summonable in the open world to escape nearly every encounter. Most of the bosses are optional so you don’t have to face them if you don’t want to, though beating them does offer rewards such as equipment, Ashes of War (skills that can be added to your weapon), etc.

When Elden Ring launches in February I fully expect it to be From’s most successful game to date with lots of new players that hopefully stick with it, at least enough to summon jolly cooperation if they feel overwhelmed. Will this game stop the obnoxious “easy mode” debates surrounding From’s games? Nope. But it is inarguably their most accessible game.

Elden Ring Network Test code provided by the publisher. Elden Ring arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this February 25, 2022

Street Fighter 5 Fall Update and Luke Showcase Set for November 23

Prepare to see the next wave of updates for the latest installment of Capcom’s signature brawler, as the Street Fighter 5 Fall Update and Luke showcase are set for November 23 — promising news on what’s coming for the fifth and final character for Season 5.

Here’s the announcement of the fall update and the link to the Twitch channel of Capcom Fighters for the event this coming Tuesday.

As the final character for Season 5 and looking very similar in design to Steve Fox from the Tekken series, Luke is a brand new character who is described as a look into the future of the Street Fighter series by the developers themselves. Using what looks to be a mixed martial arts fighting style, the first reveal trailer of the character showed him having a cocky and hard edge fighting style that relies on stiff blows and strikes rather than attacking with precision. His story is still shrouded in mystery, other than the fact that he aspired to become like as of yet unidentified male fighter who could be any one of the characters in the game if not the entire Street Fighter universe.

If you haven’t seen Luke’s reveal trailer for Street Fighter 5, check it out here from the last Summer Update digital event Capcom held a few months back.

The Street Fighter 5 Fall Update is scheduled for November 23 at 3PM PST/6PM EST/7AM HKT.

Bugbear Entertainment has released the Wreckfest update 1.017 patch this November 17 (for last-gen and next-gen platforms), and this is an unannounced title update for the car combat game, which means this is for bug fixes and not for new content.

Enlisted Update 1.000.075 Released for New Features This Nov. 17

Darkflow Software has released the Enlisted update 1.000.075 November 17 patch, which brings new features and changes to the game. Head down below for the complete patch notes.

Enlisted Update 1.000.075 Patch Notes:

Cross-platform Squads!

Play in a squad with friends on PC, Xbox and Playstation! In Enlisted, you can now assemble a squad of players from any of the game’s supported platforms.

Add a player as a friend through the “Contacts” menu, select them in the list and click “Invite to group” or click the “Add player” icon to create your squad. A squad can have up to 4 members.

Added stability to Rally Points

Every good Engineer should plant a tree, build a house, and create a Rally Point inside a house. For this episode in the series, we have greatly simplified the placement of the building layout on sloped surfaces. Rally points will no longer be so terrain-demanding and will be easier to place.

Take advantage of this and lead your team to victory!

Improved Rally point mechanics

We slightly increased the minimum distance from the closest capture point at which you can set up an engineered Rally point. This change will improve the balance of forces fighting for a point in all Enlisted missions.

Also, several closely located Rally points will now be combined into one at a lesser distance. This change should have a positive effect on your tactical options when selecting a respawn point.

“The enemy is coming from this side”

This is the kind of message many commanders have been missing – because there are so many missions in Enlisted already that you can’t remember all the paths, so of course you would like to know where the enemy will attack from beforehand.

Enlisted Update 1.09 Out for ‘Making Enlisted a Better Place No. 4’ This Nov. 17

Darkflow Software has released the Enlisted update 1.09 November 17 patch, which brings new features and changes to the game. Head down below for the complete patch notes.

Enlisted Update 1.09 Patch Notes:

Now the direction of an enemy attack will be marked with a special marker directly on the map, this will greatly facilitate the preparation of your defenses and of planning a counter-attack.

Updated DLSS library

Great news for all NVIDIA DLSS users! An updated DLSS library will result in better image stability while maintaining the same level of performance!

That’s about it for the patch.

Saints Row Reboot Delayed to August 23, 2022

Following up on its initial release date announcement of February 2022, the Saints Row reboot from Volition has now been delayed to the fiscal year of 2022 to 2023. The announcement was made through the game’s official site, where Volition Chief Creative Officer Jim Boone shared a statement on the game’s status. Head down below for more details on this delay.

The announcement started with a new release date for the delayed Saints Row reboot, moving it from February 25, 2022 to August 23 of the same year. Boone expands on this statement, saying:

Our priority is to create the best Saints Row game yet and, if we released on the original date, it wouldn’t be up to the standards we’ve set ourselves, and that you’re expecting and deserve. The team just need more time to do our vision justice; we’re doing some fine tuning and there won’t be much change in the game outside of overall quality and polish.

In all honesty, we underestimated the impact COVID would have on our schedule, although everyone adapted very quickly to the working from home arrangement and continued to be incredibly productive.

However, due to the size and scope of our new Saints Row, it’s become apparent that to create the best game possible, we need to give our team longer to perfect their craft.

A separate stealth announcement from parent company Embracer Group noted that the game will be delayed to the fiscal year window of 2022 to 2023, but it’s good to know that Volition has shared an actual concrete date.

What do you think? Do you think those additional six months delayed for the Saints Row reboot will help its development? Let us know in the comments below!
